The 7 Golden Rules of Sending Flirty Text Messages

Is there anything more nerve-wracking than coming up with a creative text message for somebody you’re interested in? You try and try but everything seems like a version of “nice meeting you.”

You’ve got Texter’s Block. You’re as nervous as Paris Hilton on Jeopardy. You’re shaking like a martini. What do you do? Relax. Remember the Seven Golden Rules of Flirty Text Messaging and you’ll be blowing up their phones with witty, funny text messages that’ll make them want to know you better.

1) Do Not Send Open-ended Texts.

Here’s the very worst one you can send: “Hey, what’s up?” You may as well have texted: “”Would you mind coming up with something interesting to say because I’m so freakin’ boring the plaster peels off the wall when I talk to it.”

2) Create Value With Your Texts. Interest, smiles, laughter, these are all values you can give to the other person on the line. You can’t create value with a line like, “how are you?” In fact, you’re putting the burden of providing value on them. Here are a few “Value Texts” that make the point (taken from The Flirty Text Message Helper: Witty Texts For Clever People):

Let’s say you got the phone number of somebody you’re interested in but you’re not quite sure they feel the same level of intensity you do. You can’t overtly flirt so you have to create value in other ways. By engaging their creativity, for example. You could send a text message like:

“”My neighbor just bought two dogs, and she wants to name them after an eighties pop duo. What do you think about Milli Vanilli?”

If you know the person you’re interested in is just as interested in you try sending a text that says, “”Stop.” When they answer, “Stop What?” you text, “”Stop thinking about me. See? You’re doing it right now.”

3) Reinforce The Memory Of Your Interaction.

If you both complained about your boss when you talked, extend the conversation through funny texts. Example:

“”My boss is doing the work of three men: Larry, Moe and Curly. Hope your day is going better.”

Or, “”My boss has my hair on fire. You?”

The point is to make every flirt text vibrate with a witty sheen that makes the other person want to know you better.

4) Keep It Short

Length isn’t just the enemy of humor; it’s also a flirt-killer because it communicates neediness. As in, you’re so lonely and bored that you’ve just spent 15 minutes composing a text and you expect them to do the same.

5) Use Proper Grammar.

Once, a girlfriend showed me a text from a guy she was sort of interested in. He asked her to “”brekfiss” and that was the end of that. I took a look at all of his texts and couldn’t tell if he was using abbreviations or whether he was an illiterate who kuldnt spill.

6) Make Them Smile.

Once, I got a text that said, “”Last night I renamed my iPod The Titanic. Now when I plug it into my computer it says, “The Titanic Is Syncing.” How could you not want to get to know that person better?

7) Don’t Over-Text

Never, EVER send a second or third text if they haven’t responded to your first. Wait a day. Otherwise, you’re going to seem desperate. The truth is, if they don’t respond right away they’re just not that into you. Sending additional texts will just reinforce the nagging feeling that you’re not for them. That doesn’t mean you should give up; it just means you need to exercise patience. In 24-36 hours send them a text that’ll pique their interest. Something that has to do with them. Like, “”I just met your twin.”

Whether you’re learning how to text a girl or how to text a guy, the rules are the same: Create value in the form of engagement, creativity or laughter. Even transgressions can be turned into an opportunity for a chuckle. Once, I went out with somebody who screwed up. Here’s what they texted: ” “On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown how angry are you?”

Funny texts don’t just buy you forgiveness; they buy you the next date.

TIG Welding Rod Guide – You Will not Find a Simpler Filler Metal Guide Than This

Would you like to spend a whole bunch of money and buy a whole bunch of Tig welding rods, one for every metal type, or would you me to boil this whole thing down for you and save you a lot of time aggravation and money?

Would you believe that only 3 different Tig welding rods will weld about 98% of the welding jobs you will ever encounter? I recently wrote another article listing 11 rods that will weld darn near everything. But a lot of people with never, ever weld metals like titanium and magnesium so I simplified the list to the bare minimum different tig welding rods you need.

Have I got your attention yet? Or maybe you enjoy collecting TIG rods you might never use. So what are the 3 rods? Are you sure you can handle this?

OK here they are …

  1. Hastelloy W
  2. Aluminum Bronze
  3. 4043 Aluminum

Lets explore this a bit further and let me explain exactly what you can weld with only 3 different tig rods.

  • Hastelloy W will weld any steel. Let me say that again. ANY STEEL! Tool steel, low medium and high carbon steels, low alloy steels, 4130, stainless steels, cast iron, nickel alloys, cobalt alloys, and each of these to any of the others. The "W" in Hastelloy W should Stand for "Wonder Rod". its almost magic.
  • Aluminum Bronze will weld any copper alloy to any other copper alloy. It is also an awesome rod for tig welding cast iron and for welding steels to copper alloys.
  • 4043 aluminum is the most commonly used tig welding rod for general purpose aluminum welding.

Now let me be straight with you. For critical applications, you need to know what it is you are welding and this down and dirty information should not be used in lieu of engineering documents. But for general maintenance and repair welding where you just need to get it done … these 3 rods will pay you out time and time again.

Here is one more tip … get some E70S2 mild steel TIG rods just because they are really cheap and are fine for all types of mild steel as well as 4130 chromoly.

SRAM Unveil Their Latest Groupset

SRAM have once again designed one of the most exciting components for cyclists, the SRAM Black-Red. Following the fantastic limited edition LTE Red, SRAM are experiencing that the new Black-Red groupset, launched in 2011, may well be more successful than its predecessor.

Available in the new black and traditional silver options, the SRAM Black-Red features a fantastic array of updates, from the new anodised finish, which features the previously unavailable graphic updates, to a number of other incredible elements.

Taken from the successful MTB line, the new black anodised finish SRAM refer to as the Blast black, not only creates a fresh looking chainrings, it also creates a sturdier groupset.

The SRAM Black-Red 2011 is fitted with the standard brake callipers, which possess Swiss Stops GHP-2 compound pads, with the option to include a Yellow-Swiss Stop- carbon rim.

A fantastic update featured on the SRAM Black-Red is the latest shifter, which features an easy to access adjust screw. Unlike previous versions which featured a fiddly, hard to access screw, SRAM has introduced a reachable screwdriver fitment.

Similarly, SRAM has introduced a steel cage option for the front mech on the Black-Red. While the rear mech is extremely similar to previous groupsets, with the standard carbon rear cage and ceramic jockey wheel, it does however feature a small aesthetic update with laser etched H and L adjuster marks.

SRAM's Black-Red 2011 is available in a variety of different options, one of the most noticeable is the back plate of the one piece, OpenGlide cassette, which is available in a black anodised finish. This allows riders the option to create a complete stealth look of the entire gloss black groupset finish.

SRAM has got a great reputation in the cycling world and have produced many excellent products that currently have rave reviews from riders all over the world. This groupset really does set a precedentent amongst its competitors and will be hard to beat. At time of writing this article the SRAM groupset can be purchased from a number of online UK cycle retailers for just over £ 1000.

The comments made by cyclists that have bought it already this year have been very positive. They include quotes like "This is the best value groupset I have bought ever" and "Sturdy, sound and reliable groupset I have recommended to my fellow teams". The first comment may be a bit over the top as people do not buy groupsets that often, but the second is a good endorsement.

All in all, not only is this groupset a real joy to look at with beautiful aesthetics, but it is reasonably priced for what you get.

The Compatibility Factor in Relationships – Seven Signs That You Are Right for Each Other (Or Wrong)

Are you looking for someone who is just right for you, but not sure where or how to find him or her? Many people say opposites attract. Maybe that is true, or maybe that is just what we are told as a way of explaining the "mystery" of relationships.

Being right for each other is more about having a "fit" of your personality, habits, and things you think are important. I call this the "compatibility factor". Here are seven forms of compatibility to look for in your relationship.

1. Personality Compatibility: Do you really get along, or find that you are silently irritated with the other person's personality? Are you uptight and your date is laid back? Think about if and how you will handle difficult days. Personality is a very important factor, and the most difficult to change.

2. Communication Compatibility: Are you direct or indirect? Does one of you do all the talking? Is one of you the silent type? Look at your conversations. Decide if they flow, and if they are enjoyable for you.

3. Friends and Family Compatibility: Do you get along with one another's friends and family, or is this a source of stress for your relationship?

4. Health and Nutrition Compatibility: Are you a health food nut or a junk food junkie? Is the only exercise you get channel surfing? Look at if your health-related lifestyles match or not.

5. Financial Compatibility: Are you generous or frugal with your money? How is your partner with their finances? Money is one of the things couples fight about most often. If you share similar financial goals and means, this can be very helpful.

6. Educational Compatibility: Some studies have found (and I have found in my experience and practice) that educational and world experience compatibility are important to many couples. People tend to feel the most comfortable with others who share similar life experiences, professional opportunities, and world views.

7. Intimate Compatibility: Ideas for romance, intimacy and closeness come into play here. One example is PDA (not a hand-held computer) but Public Display Of Affection. You may love to hug and kiss in public, and your date may think it's just wrong. Having a mismatched style can lead to resentments and have a long-term effect on your love life together.

I hope that you learned about some of the compatibility factors in your own relationship. So what can you do if you are not compatible? You can

1. Accept things as they are

2. Work on yourself and the relationship
Or

3. Leave the relationship.

If you opt for change, you can only change yourself. It's unreasonable to demand that the person in your life changes unless they want to. If you are in the dating and selection process, it is much more effective to choose a compatible partner now than it is to "fix" something that is "broken" later. Do not be afraid to let go if things are not working out. Sometimes love really is just not enough. Do not worry, there are millions of singles in the world to choose from, and you can find one that is compatible with you!

3 Most Effective Natural Colon Cleanse Recipes

Having a healthy colon is very important that is why we all need to give value to colon cleansing. The colon is one of the areas in the body specifically in the digestive system which is mostly exposed to toxins. It is where all the food remnants from what we end passes through. When these food residues reach the colon, they are full of toxins because all the nutrients have already been absorbed by the digestive tract.

Sometimes, not all of the toxins come out of the body through bowel movement. They may sometimes be trapped inside the colon walls resulting to digestive damage. In some cases, it can even result to cancer. We can prevent this by cleansing our colon and the best way is to do the cleansing naturally. There are some effective natural colon cleanse recipes that will help us flush the toxins out of our digestive system.

Below are the 3 most effective natural colon cleanse recipes:

1. One of the mostly used colon cleanse is the White Sultana Raisins recipe. All you need to do is prepare about 200 grams of white sultana raisins with Rose Hips extract and Senna. Add the white sultana raisins into a liter of water together with the other ingredients. Infuse the mixture for at least ½ hour and then filter the liquid. Pour the liquid mixture into a bottle and then boil it in a pot. Let it cool for about half an hour and then drink 100 ml from it every evening before going to bed for 16 days. You might want to consult your doctor first before trying this out. Make sure that you do not have any allergies with the ingredients to avoid complications.

2. The second most effective natural colon cleanse recipe is a mixture of plums, honey apple cider vinegar and tamarind jam. For this, we are going to need 5 kg of ripe plum together with 400 mg honey, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar and 1 tbsp tamarind jam. Pour the pitted plums into a huge container. Heat water in the pot. Once the water is boiling, add in the ingredients. Boil it until the ingredients are mixed. Continually stir the mixture until cooked. After cooling it, pour the solution into several bottles. Eat 1 tsbp of the jam every morning with an empty stomach. This will help cleanse your digestive tract and to soften the hardened stools.

3. The third recipe is made from tea. This is probably the most effective natural colon cleanse recipe and also the easiest to make. You just need to boil two cloves, crushed ginger and 200 ml of water in a pot. You can add honey and basil leaves to add taste. After the tea has been boiled, cool it and then drink it just like a regular coffee. That will help the gastrointestinal tract be cleaned out.

These recipes are only recommended to people who do not have any allergy with the said ingredients. This is to make sure that you will succeed in the cleansing of your colon.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Different Types of Baby Bibs

There are many things to think about when having a baby, for new parents especially as they rarely have any experience to fall back on. One thing that many new parents neglect to consider is the issue of baby bibs. There are different types of baby bib, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. As a new parent, you will probably think that you do not need to think about bibs until the baby is at least 4 months old, the age at which some babies are able to wean.

However, many new parents have found that they have neglected a key area: baby dribble. Even if your baby does not eat solid food, it may still dribble a lot, and need, therefore, to wear a bib. If your baby does not dribble much, it is still worth taking the time to consider different types of baby bibs. Here, we discuss the pros and cons of various types of bib, from bandana bibs to scoop bibs, in the hope of preparing you to cope with one of the most problematic times in a baby’s life: weaning.

Bandana Bibs

Bandana bibs get their name because they are modelled on the bandana (- a handkerchief folded in half to create a triangle, and then tied around the neck for decoration).

1. Great for babies who are teething or dribbling a lot, because they look like items of clothing, rather than bibs.

2. Because they sit rather high on the neck, they absorb a lot more dribble than an ordinary bib would.

3. They are difficult for the baby to remove because they tie around the back of the neck.

Disadvantages

1. They do not reach very far down, and so may not protect clothes as much as other types of bib, such as the coverall (see below).

Scoop bibs

These are a familiar type of bib. They are normally made of plastic and they have what looks much like a trough at the bottom of the bib, which catches food as it falls. These bibs are for use at meal times only, because they are not very comfortable.

Advantages

1. They are easy to clean. They simply need wiping down after use.

2. Provide children with a sense of independence, as parents are more likely to allow the baby to feed itself (because they will make less of a mess).

Disadvantages

1. Babies must be able to sit up on their own before this style of bib is usable – if the baby is unable to sit up, opt for bandana bibs or the traditional dribble bibs.

2. They may be uncomfortable, banging against the table or high chair, and rubbing the neck.

Coverall bibs

These, as the name suggests, cover all of the baby’s upper body. These are plastic bibs and look like jumpers, rather than a traditional bib. They are great for older babies, who already know how to feed themselves, but who have yet to learn the art of cleanliness.

Advantages

1. They protect a much greater area of clothing than other bibs.

2. Babies love them because they usually sport favourite cartoon characters, and other fun imagery, or they look like a uniform, for instance, a police officer’s jacket – which boys love.

3. They are easy to clean.

Disadvantages

1. They can be very uncomfortable if they have elasticised necks or wrists.

2. They tend to cost more than the average bib.

Astronaut Fancy Dress For Kids

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde we all live in the gutter but some of us are reaching for the stars and who more so than the astronauts who actually fly to space.

Astronaut fancy dress is a very popular theme for parties and Halloween and a space suit costume is one that many people are searching for online.

Perhaps they have their own dream to emulate heroes like Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins, the three guys who actually won the space race for the United States.

Undoubtly those three intrepid astronauts had gazed up at the sky and dreamed of really going there.

Today there are lots of different celebrations where fancy dress is worn, themed weddings, stag nights, Halloween and many others. You may even have a themed Xmas with the parcels given out by an alien and received by everyone dressed as a space man.

Kids especially love dressing up and a birthday party where everyone gets done up in fancy dress is a great way of celebrating.

The problem with kids nowdays is that that a couple of cardboard boxes sprayed with glitter paint no longer really do the trick. Thank Hollywood and endless video games but the truth is, kids want realism.

An astronaut costume is fairly easy to fake with some white overalls and a few NASA patches which mom has to sew on but accessories such as the astronaut helmet requires a little more investment. No cutting a slot in an old paint tin and spraying it silver.

To look really good the little astronaut will need some basic add-ons such as a realistic helmet, possibly a NASA style back pack, gloves and some authentic looking space boots.

Penis Vitamin Cream – A Powerful Boost for Penis Health

It is extremely important to maintain the health and wellness of the entire body, and the penis is no exception. However, despite the fact that the penis is one of the favorite body parts of most men, guys tend to overlook it in the daily health care regimen. In addition to the hours at the gym, eating well, and managing stress effectively, integrating a penis vitamin cream as part of a daily penis care routine can show immediate and long-lasting results and contribute to lifelong penis health.

Optimum penis vitamin cream ingredients

When choosing a penis vitamin cream, it is of the utmost importance to ensure it is made from high-quality ingredients. Many health crèmes claim big results without the essential ingredients to support them. Below is a list of vital nutrients and the benefits they have on the penis.

Shea Butter: Shea butter is a luxurious moisturizer and emollient that heals dry cracked skin on the penis. It rejuvenates skin cells, helps the skin retain moisture, and soothes cracked, red or irritated skin.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E is another well-known vitamin aimed at enriching skin moisture and protecting the skin from cracking and drying. It has calming properties that soothes itchy and chafed skin, leaving it smooth and supple.

Acetyl L Carnitine: Acetyl L Carnitine is a supplement which has neuroprotective properties that protect and prevent peripheral nerve damage. This is especially important in terms of the penis, which can be easily injured during aggressive sexual activity, leading to a painful condition known as Peyronie’s disease. Using Acetyl L Carnitine can actually enhance sensitivity of the penis, slow the aging process and promote healthy cell functioning; it is essential in a penis vitamin cream.

Alpha Lipoic Acid: Often found in nutrient products as a compliment to Acetyl L Carnitine, it is a beneficial anti-oxidant that fights free radicals and keeps the penis healthy. Alpha lipoic acid slows the aging process in penis cells, which reduces premature aging of the penis skin, keeping it healthy and reducing an overly wrinkled appearance that commonly comes with age.

L-Arginine: L-Arginine is an important enzyme that targets penile blood vessels and capillaries, increasing oxygen flow to the penis cells. Oxygen is essential in maintaining the overall health of penis, and increased blood flow helps deliver other essential nutrients to the penis, as well.

Vitamin A: Vitamin A is touted for its anti-bacterial properties. When added to a penis vitamin cream, the purpose is to eliminate penile odor caused by bacteria found in the genital area. Thus, a formula with Vitamin A can help the user feel fresh and clean all day long.

Vitamin B5: Vitamin B5 is an essential vitamin that aids in penis cell metabolism and overall healthy maintenance of all penis cells. It has life sustaining properties that contribute to healthy functioning of the penis.

Vitamin C: Vitamin C contributes to collagen production and increases firmness of the penile tissue, making it an important ingredient to have in a penis vitamin cream. Vitamin C contributes to erectile functioning, as it is a structural component of the blood vessels, meaning it plays an important role in achieving healthy erections.

Vitamin D: Vitamin D has become known as a “miracle” vitamin due to its proven disease fighting properties and contribution to cell functionality. It is a key ingredient in a penis vitamin cream.

Benefits of using a penis vitamin cream

There are many reasons to use add a quality penis vitamin cream (most health professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil) as part of the daily grooming routine. A cream containing the 9 essential ingredients listed above can help increase penis sensation, lead to softer and healthier skin, decrease risk of infection, increase healthy circulation and prevent the formation of scar tissue.

Top Ten Places That One Must See in Varanasi

Varanasi, while being a city that is famous all over the globe as one of the top destinations in India, is largely perceived as a pilgrimage city where one can capture glimpses of strange Hindu customs, the pilgrims bathing in the incredibly polluted Ganges, saffron-clad Sadhus selling pseudo-spirituality to gullible foreigners, burning dead bodies on the ghats, the dope hungry hippie crowd, and to possibly experience a ‘spiritual awakening’ in one of the many temples of Varanasi. Varanasi however, has much more to offer to a traveler who is willing to shed the dump of prejudices and biases triggered by blatant misinformation. The list of “top ten places that one must see in Varanasi” attempts to unfold and unravel the rich kaleidoscope of colours that decorate the cultural, social and spiritual fabric of Varanasi. The list is not comprehensive and is only indicative of the rich historical landscape of Varanasi and includes some of the “Best Places That You Must See in Varanasi”.

1) Varanasi Ghats: The ghats on the banks of the river Ganges are the soul of Varanasi. The ghats are virtually the kaleidoscope of belief, customs and traditions that constitute the philosophy that is Varanasi. There are 84 ghats in number – huge rectangular stairs that lead to the river edge. Some of them were built as early as the 12 century while others have a more recent origin.

2) Kashi Vishwanath Temple: Originally built in 1776 by Maharani Ahilya Devi of Indore, the towers of the temple were gold plated by the Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1835 who donated 1000 kg of gold. The ‘shivalinga’ in the temple 60 cm tall and 90 cm in circumference housed in a silver altar.

3) St. Mary’s Church: St. Mary’s is probably the oldest Protestant Church in North India outside Calcutta. The foundation stone was laid on 29th April 1810 by Daniel Corrie. This beautiful Church is situated in 11.25 acres of land and has historic background which will be seen from the monuments in the campus of British soldiers who died in action. St Mary”s Church is situated in the cantonment area of Varanasi. This church has a low tower, spire and projecting portico. There are three simple louvered doors beneath plain cornices alternating with two bays, each with white plaster niches. Above each doorway is a rectangular fanlight, protected from the glare of the sun by a plain timber canopy – a simple device which has a major architectural impact.

4) Manikarnika Ghat: Also known as the “Mahashamsana’ or the ‘ Great Cremation Ground of the World’, Manikarnika ghat is where dead are brought from all over the country to be cremated by fire. There is a ‘sacred fire’ that has been burning since centuries and it is the fire from this that is used for the cremation. It is believed that those who are cremated at Manikarnika ghat attain moksha and their souls are set free from the endless cycle of birth and death.

5) Bharat Kala Bhavan: An archaeological museum built in the campus of the Banaras Hindu University. Established in 1920, the museum has vast collection of over 100,000 artifacts like paintings, textiles, costumes, decorative arts, Indian philately and literary and archival materials. The first floor has Numismatic Gallery (collection of coins), Archaeological Gallery, Decorative Art Gallery, Benaras Through the Ages Gallery and Galleries on Alice Boner and M. K. Gupta. There are some proposed extensions of galleries like the Gallery of Archive and Literary Materials, Gallery on Textiles and Costumes and a Gallery of Metal Images.

6) Ramnagar Fort: This fort-palace was built in the eighteenth century and is the home of the king of Kashi( or Varanasi). The Chunar Fort is located at a distance of 42 kilometers fron Varanasi city. Worth seeing inside the fort are the Sonva Mandap, Raja Bhartihari Samadhi, Bavan Khamba & Solar Watch.

8) Sarnath: A small town barely 12 kms from Varanasi rail junction, Sarnath is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage and heritage site. This is where the Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon. Sarnath is home to the excavated remains of the ancient Buddhist monasteries, the famous Lion capital – India’s national emblem, a archaeological museum, huge stupas including the Dhamek and Chaukhandi Stupa and many Buddhist temples built here by missions from Japan, China, Tibet, Cambodia and others.

9) Nepali Temple: This unique temple is situated on the Lalita Ghat on the bank of the river Ganges. The temple was commissioned by the King of Nepal and is built in the Nepali style of architecture by workers who were brought from Nepal to create this marvel. The wood used in the temple is also found in Nepal. The specialty of the wood used in the temple is that termites do not eat this wood. The temple features magnificent wood work and there are erotic wooden sculptures built in to the external columns and facades.Due to the erotic sculptures, it is also called ‘mini-khajuraho’. Another popular name for this temple is the ‘kaathwala’ temple.

10) Lakhania Dari Caves and Waterfall: Located at a distance of around 45 kms from Varanasi are the beautiful small hills of the Vindhyanchal mountain ranges. Ensconced in the hills is a mesmerizing waterfall that drains in to a small clear water lake. This is the Lakhania Dari. A small stream originates from the lake and huge boulders are strewn all over the two km long trek that leads to the waterfall from the lake. Ancient rock caves can be seen on the rocky face of the hills that surround the region. A visual treat for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Teen Dreams – Let There Be Light

Natural light gives us all a buzz. After long winters in the UK, it's not surprising so many of us seek out some winter sun, or dream of lying on a sunny beach. Natural light is energising. And according to studies by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Lighting Research Center in New York, some teenagers who lie in all weekend or are just impossible to get out of bed may not be inherently lazy. The research suggests they simply may not be getting enough sunlight.

It's hard enough being a teenager without being accused of being a lay-about. But there's no doubt teens have attracted a reputation for being lazy. The solution to inactive teens could be as simple as installing frameless glass doors onto your balcony to help encourage natural light to flood into the family home. If you are sooner to suffer from Seasonal Disorder Syndrome and depression, sunlight is a critical component to improving your day to day quality of life. Adolescents are increasing spending time indoors in front of computer screens. And experts believe that this darkness is knocking their body clocks out of kilter, making it harder for them to get up in the mornings.

You may not be able to convince a teenager to ditch their computers or leave their bedroom, but you can find ways to bring more natural light into your home. It's not surprising that many of the dream homes featured on TV shows and lifestyle spreads often have wall to wall windows, bespoke frameless glass doors or an innovative approach to windows that helps bring the outside indoors and the indoors out. A home flooded with sunshine can impact drastically on your well being.

Teenagers who miss out on morning light that is essential to stimulate the body's 24-hour clock end up with what's been dubbed 'teenage night owl syndrome'. If the body's natural clock is off kilter than the sleep / wake cycle is disrupted. But teenagers who fall into this dark routine are not only at risk of sleep deprivation but could be putting things like exam results in jeopardy; being tired impacts on our emotional, mental and physical health.
The researchers said natural light helps the body to release a hormone called melatonin that signals to the body when it's time to go to sleep. If the teens do not have natural light in the morning, they do not feel sleepy at the right time causing them to go to bed later.

The research could also explain why some people, adults included, can have bouts of insomnia during the dark winter months.

Use Enthusiasm to Achieve Great Things with Your Speech

Enthusiasm is an exceptional excitement, interest, or devotion. In public speaking, excitement about your subject will make a speech come alive. It will enable you to capture the attention of your audience. That not only makes you more persuasive or motivational, it makes you a more interesting speaker.

So your audience wins, they get a wonderful experience and at the same time learn or receive needed information. They get something that will benefit them. You win by accomplishing the objective of your presentation.

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm," Ralph Waldo Emerson

So how do you achieve something great in your speech? How can you create enthusiasm?

To build enthusiasm, as always, first consider your audience.

  • Why does the audience need to hear this?
  • In what unique way will they benefit?
  • Will they see what you see in it for them?

All the enthusiasm in the world for something people do not want or need will be of little value in your speech.

However, if it is relevant, if it is real, and it could benefit the audience, your excitement about the subject, will give you an edge. So know your audience and tell them the self serving benefit to them your information will bring.

    Get Your Edge

How do you get an edge? You already are speaking with the purpose of trying to get your most wanted response. Perhaps you even have a primary and secondary goal you wish to accomplish with your audience. With an enthusiastic presentation you make the whole more than the sum of the parts. It can not be stressed enough, it has to be real to truly benefit the audience.

For any speech or speaking you have to do, get your emotions involved in the subject. Show your excitement, your interest, your devotion, your passion in whatever ever your subject is.

What if they do not want or are not interested in your message. Ahhhh. That is where the unique pre-selling proposition mixed with enthusiasm can save the day.

Your Unique Pre-selling Proposition and Enthusiasm

If you think, "But, I'm not selling anything," think again. You're introducing a subject or presenting an idea that you want them to buy into. In other words, you're selling. Not in the traditional sense of the word but still selling.

What is your unique pre-selling proposition?

To pre-sell means to prep them for the sale or mental 'buy in' of your message. If you go in knowing they neither need nor want what it is you are offering, good salesmanship Traditionally teachers you should cut your losses and say good bye.

Ask yourself how many times you saw an ad several to dozens of times before you went ahead and bought. The initial ads only planted seeds that needed to germinate before they could grow.

However with that knowledge, you propose or create a proposition that will get them to listen. The proposition may only be, "for your information" with the caveat of what's in it for them. Why would they need to know what it is you have to offer?

For one thing, the knowledge you are offering to them will enhance their life. It will make them better at whatever ever. Your message needs to have that formula and with in that formula, enthusiasm. The excitement, interest, or devotion to what ever your message is.

In other words, even though the information might not benefit them today, you're so excited about it, you want them to have this knowledge so that it will be available to them in the future. No selling, just preselling.

It goes to a very basic philosophy we follow at Speechmastery.com. The most self serving thing you can do is be selfless, the most self satisfying thing you can do is serve others.

When you serve others even though there is nothing in it for you (or at least it may appear that way) you will reap rich rewards.

A true story from June, 2006. I recently went to New Hope PA, one of the top 20 places to buy art in the USA. It just so happened it had been one of the best places I found to sell my art too. Over 14 pieces in one year. Alas, my gallery representation there closed due to retirement. So looking for a new gallery to represent me, I started scouting out the town. The first gallery was way out of my league. Hudson School Paintings by Charles Rhinehart that (if you like that kind of art) you would drool over were in the entry way. They started at $ 20K. My highest and best only sells for $ 6K. On introducing myself as an artist in abstract impressionism he asked to see some of my art. I did not think he would be interested because I am in the Minor leagues and he is in the Majors as far as art goes. During the initial viewing of photos of my paintings, I also shared some art marketing tips with him. I demonstrated it on two pieces he had in his gallery. Within minutes he had a customer who he showed this unique feature of a beautiful painting with gold leaf in the paint. The now enthusiastic patron had to rush out to get his wife to show her this incredible painting. Howard has probably forgotten more than I will ever know about gallery selling. I on the other hand am a student of the psychology of art. Only recently have there been any in-depth high level studies on the subject. Freely sharing my knowledge even though it seemed hopeless provided me with my most wanted response. I got an appointment to bring in my originals and he is considering carrying me. Help people get what they want and you will get what you want. I never imagined even being considered by such a prestigious gallery. Even if he does not carry me, it was a wonderful experience and we will probably be working together in the future in some way.

    Appropriate Enthusiasm

Blind enthusiasm can make you look fanatical. Although you want to strive for an animated presentation, balance is needed. Do not be excited about every thing you say. If you do, your enthusiasm will quickly use up the energy of your audience and tire them out. Some parts of your speech will require more, others less.

Where in your speech do you present with more enthusiasm? The places where you want to motivate. The parts you want to persuade. The high points of what you're speech is about. This will stir the audience up to feel as do you about what you're saying.

To believe something new we mentally need a basis for that belief. For instance, when doing scientific testing, controls are used. The control group allows a measurement of the results and how good or bad they are.

Your enthusiasm needs a control group of words. This way the reality of the enthusiasm can measured against the audience perceives as your biases or personal reality.

A word of caution is due here. First about the dark side: blind enthusiasm is called fanaticism. If your devotion or enthusiasm is a biased thinking, it will be blind to difficulties, challenges and objections. Nothing will kill your credibility as fast as fanaticism.

There are times when enthusiasm will need to be tempered with a somber tone. Perhaps some eulogies will require no enthusiasm, others may demand it because of the wish of the Deceased or the enthusiasm for life they shared.

Talking of layoffs, bad news, and the like will require tempering the enthusiasm. Use sound judgment when and where to use it in a speech.

Use enthusiasm wisely and enjoy the rewards and excitement it brings. Let it well up from the heart. Let it overflow into your words. When appropriate be enthusiastic!

  • Is Something Wrong If My Koi Has not Released Eggs?

When your female Koi becomes old enough (3-5 years old) her body will produce eggs. When the water temperature increases to 65-70 degrees you will begin to see the signs of spawning. There will be a lot of chasing, the female will stay to herself near the bottom, and they will eat a lot of food. It is said that mating will begin when there is a full moon and the eggs are released early in the morning. It is the male's job to help her remove the eggs and then fertilize them.

In some cases the female may not release her eggs. Here are a few reasons why.

    · The pond is made up of all female Koi.

    · The male Koi in the pond is not old enough to mate.

    · The Koi is sick and not carrying eggs.

A sure sign that the Koi is sick and not carrying eggs is the scales. If the scales are sticking out or if the eyes are popping out it could be dropsy. This is when the kids are failing. You can use a salt dip to help the sick fish. Put 1 level cup of salt in a bucket with 5 gallons of water. Put the fish in the bucket for 1-2 minutes and then return it to the pond. This should be done 2 or 3 times weekly until the swings goes down. Another possibility is that a tumor is causing the swelling. This would cause the Koi to not swim properly.

Possibilities of what can happen if the Koi does not spawn (mate) and she is carrying eggs are listed next.

    1. If the Koi does not spawn the eggs can remain in the koi for several seasons until she does spawn.

    2. The eggs can be reabsorbed. This means she will just make them disappear back into her own body.

    3. Sometimes the eggs can become egg bound. Egg bound is when the eggs rot and this will kill the female Koi.

Not feeding the fish in the winter will help the female Koi to reabsorb her eggs if she did not spawn in the spring. You really want her to reabsorb them as this is safe for your fish. You want to keep your Koi from having the eggs become egg bound.

To determine if your Koi are all female you can feel their head. A male's head will feel like sandpaper and a female ready for spawning will be slippery. If you can manage to touch each of your fish you will know their sex. If you find that you have a male Koi then he may not be mature enough to mate. Then again, maybe your Koi is just being picky.

To sum this up, if your Koi is fat and the scales are OK then probably you have all females or the males just are not old enough for mating. Not feeding your fish in the winter will help the koi reabsorb her eggs. Be ready to watch for baby Koi next spring.

How to Put a V8 Motor in a Corvair

Sometimes a challenge is just that and no more. Not practical maybe but fun nonetheless. I owned at the time, a small shop repair shop where I would tinker with cars and motorcycles and make a few dollars as well. One afternoon during a bull session with some buddies, one of them said it would be neat if we could put a V8 motor in one of my Corvair cars. I had several of them and loved to tinker with the Monza model which was Chevy’s souped up version of this rear engined car. The Corvair had no independent frame and was one of the first uni-body cars on the market. Extremely lightweight, the six cylinder motor with the factory blower made the car zip right along. It really was a silly looking car in the first years of production, kinda boxy and square. Later models became more streamlined but suffered the same engineering problems of the early years and quickly the car faded into obscurity. I had one car with no motor and the body was not in the best of shape. I remember saying I could put the V8 in that car and the guys quickly put me to the challenge.

My shop had a pretty good assortment of tools, torches, welders, jacks and power hand tools that allowed me to make just about anything in metal. A big drill press, a good vise and tons of nuts and bolt

assortments put most of what I needed at hand. After the guys left the thought of doing this V8 conversion nagged at me and I found myself checking out the car to see if it was really possible. Putting the motor in the car could always be done but I thought how about doing it so you could not tell from the outside that the car was altered? At least until you started it up. There was no way I was going to be able to make that V8 motor sound like the wimpy six cylinder factory motor.

The first item on the agenda was to remove all the factory drive train components. Since the motor was already gone, the rear end, including the wheels were a snap to remove. I had a Chevy V8 short block that I could use for test fitting the engine into the trunk. The trunk of a Corvair was in the front of the car. A major amount of sheet metal had to be removed to squeeze the engine down into the truck compartment. I had to mock up the motor with some heads and intake manifold to assure the trunk lid (hood) would close after the engine was in place. Once I managed to get the engine into the trunk and was satisfied with it’s location, motor mounts became the next item to complete. Since there was no frame under the car I had to fabricate a partial sub-frame that was able to accept bolt-on motor mounts. I had several transmissions to choose from including a used manual three speed Chevy unit. This was a direct bolt-on to the V8 so in it went. Making a tail mount for the trans was nothing more than some three inch channel iron that spanned from one side of the car to the other. So far with the doors and hood closed the car looked stock. I purchased a used small pickup truck rear end and began altering it to fit under the Corvair body. No easy task I can say. Concealing fourteen inch wheels where thirteens were before required even more modification to the cars sheet metal including new wheel wells and interior wheel covers.

With the three major components of the drive train now mounted in the car, I was able to start on all the smaller items that a car needs to run. The drive shaft had to be custom made as it was less than three

feet long and needed a mid-point universal to offset the different heights of the transmission and the rear end. The radiator was made from an old V8 Chevy unit but had to be altered to be able to lay on its side. A friend of my Dads owned the local radiator repair shop and was more than wiling to do the alterations at almost no cost as he too thought the car was pretty neat. Wiring the car in those days was a simple task as there were none of the bells and whistles in cars today. No computers, no special sensors for this and that. Just whatever a car needed to run and work the lights and so on. I retained all the Chevy factory lights, turn signals and so on and really just needed to wire the engine components and battery. I placed the battery in the rear of the car as even then I realized the car was going to be light in the rear. What an understatement that was.

The conversion took about four months to do as I remember. There were a few bugs to work out of course as I had no engineering staff to advise me what I was doing wrong but all in all the bugs were pretty minor. The first time I started the car the thrill of hearing the motor growl under that hood cannot be described. The first time I put the car in gear and drove it around the property was a real kick. I purchased license plates for the car and drove it for a couple of weeks to work out the kinks and have time to complete some type of interior. I added only one other bucket seat as the car was not a touring car but would certainly be fun at the local drag strip. I clearly remember the first time I actually drove the car to my buddies house to show him the V8 motor in the car and take him for a ride. On a back road, holding one foot on the brake pedal and punching the gas with the other, I was able to smoke the tires with no effort at all. From a slow roll or moving at 40 MPH, punching the gas pedal would squeal the tires and create tire smoke instantly. The car was a real gas.

I drove the car that summer and had a ball taking it to Stewart’s drive-in in Paramus, New Jersey on Friday and Saturday nights. It was fun to have other guys laugh at the car and ask to race for papers. After a few races the laughter stopped. I didn’t take their papers but my little Corvair was a hit that summer with all the custom car guys. I sold the car that winter to a young fella who wanted to complete the interior and exterior paint. He drove the car for quite a while and then I lost track of it’s where abouts. I had already moved on to another project but I had proven that you could squeeze a V8 motor into a stock Corvair body.

What Is An Abstract Noun? – 7 Activities That Focus On Identifying Abstract Nouns

Abstract nouns refer to a state, concept or feeling and cannot be perceived by any of the five senses. If you want your students to be able to identify them then your students need to spend time playing with them. Here are 7 classroom activities that will get your students exploring and manipulating abstract nouns.

    1. List 10 on the board and ask 1 or 2 students at a time to come out the front and act them out. For a fun twist, the student at the front could be shown the word and the class must guess what it is. Here are 10 words you could use: anger, fear, love, jealousy, joy, sadness, wealth, poverty, marriage and slavery.

    2. Write abstract nouns on the board and ask your students to think of ones with the opposite meaning. Here are 10 words you could use: trust, stupidity, sanity, pride, beauty, calm, crime, curiosity, laughter and happiness.

    3. Write 3 headings on the board: Feelings, Ideas, and Qualities. Challenge your students to list abstract nouns under each heading. This works especially well with small groups competing against each other -give them 30 minutes and a large poster size sheet of paper to write the lists on.

    4. Many abstract nouns refer to feelings. Challenge your students to think of similes for happiness and unhappiness. Let them think of the words on their own for a few minutes and then let them look in a thesaurus. They should come up with words like joy, delight, satisfaction, excitement, pleasure, cheerfulness, enjoyment, contentment, glee, and laughter for happiness and sadness, disappointment, misery, sorrow, depression and gloom for unhappiness. To extend the activity, each student could be given one of the words to write in a sentence and share with the class.

    5. Write sentences that combine the abstract nouns with concrete words. For example, affection is like a night light. Ask your students to write or discuss reasons why this is so. Their suggestions may be that they both make you feel safe, help you see obstacles, need to be powered by something, don’t cost very much and come in all different shapes. You could try, isolation is like a cheesy pizza, happiness is like a new book or freedom is like a warty toad.

    6. Jumble the letters up and challenge your students to work out what they are. Try RGNAE (anger), OJY (joy), ARAMRIGE (marriage), OERFEDM (freedom), HLEWAT (wealth), ETIXECEMNT (excitement).

    7. Write them on post-it-notes and give them to small groups of students. Challenge each group to stick the notes in an appropriate place in the classroom. This works well if the children are given time to tell the class why they put the notes where they did. Love may end up on a heater (because they are both warm) and loneliness may end up on a table far at the back of the class.

Activities like these, that give your students opportunities to practice identifying and using abstract nouns will strengthen the ability of your students to use them in their own writing.
