Installing Your New Tabor and Apex Combination Bathroom Furniture

So, you’ve bought some new combination bathroom furniture. Tabor and Apex combination units are dual purpose pieces which incorporate a basin unit and a WC unit into one piece of furniture: they are space saving items for your bathroom, but are still large enough to be a little unwieldy during the installation process.

All bathroom furniture varies from installation to installation, and we would always advise that you read the manufacturer’s fitting instructions carefully and follow their advice – they know their product best. You may, however, find it helpful to follow our handy hints for installing anything from a simple bathroom cabinet, right up to a fully fitted bathroom furniture suite.

Tip number one is to measure carefully. You need to know the precise size of your bathroom furniture in relation to the space into which you’ll be installing it, so measure both these two areas first. It may help you to visualise the outcome you’re aiming for right from the start if you draw a rough outline of your furniture on the wall in situ.

Next, if your furniture is pre-drilled with wall fixing holes, you’ll need to measure where these are in relation to the edges of the item, so that you can map out where your fixings need to be positioned to ensure the furniture finishes up precisely in place. If your furniture comes without pre-drilled holes, you’ll need to create some, and then measure where they are (this is quicker and simpler than measuring, carefully drilling the holes… then measuring again to check you got them where you wanted them).

Tip number two is to always use the right tools for the job. A metal measure is better than a material one, which could stretch and give you a slightly false measurement. And using the right drill bit will not only minimise the potential for damage to your drill bit or to your wall, but will also make your task easier.

When drilling your fixing holes in your bathroom wall, bear in mind the following. Always drill into the bricks or blocks of a wall, not into the mortar which forms the joints; drill more carefully into blocks than bricks – bricks are tough, but blocks are relatively soft and you run the risk of making the hole too big if you go at the blocks too enthusiastically with the drill. If you have stud walls, make sure you’re drilling into the solid timber supports, not the thin plasterboard between, which will not provide a very solid supportive surface for your wall fixing. And if your wall is tiled, you should use an extra hard drill bit and only light pressure, or you may crack the tile surface and open yourself up to a retiling job.

Once your bathroom furniture is installed, you’ll be using it every day for years – so if you take the time at the installation stage to get it right, you’ll be able to feel proud every day for years.

Feng Shui Interprets Attics and Basements

It should be understood that the areas of a house that a person spends the most time in are the areas to focus on. Usually, no other room competes with the bedroom(s) or the heavily used home office. And yet, we can take apart a whole floor plan and interpret the effects of other areas of the house as well. A poorly placed bathroom or kitchen could affect the whole family.

Some of the energies in a house are invisible, but powerful, and were created when the house was built. Energies from the earth move upwards as the foundation is being established. Energies from the sun and stars penetrate downward and are captured in the house when the roof finally encloses the house. The timing of the roof going on is called the year of Construction.

With a multi-storied house or building there will be repeating energies. For instance, if you have a bedroom directly over a dining room, those two rooms will have some similar influences. And so, it is also true with basements and attics that they will usually contain a similar energy as the rooms they are above or below.

This becomes very relevant when attics and basements are remodeled into rooms that are used on a regular basis. Like any other room in a house, they may require certain element remedies. As well, yin-yang theory comes into play because attics and basements are typically areas that might need more light than what they were originally provided.

Attics that are turned into rooms often have sloped ceilings and some times the ceilings are lower than normal. Low ceilings are good for concentrating, but not at the expense of being so low that it feels congestive or one becomes claustrophobic in the space. Basement ceilings are sometimes left unfinished, where beams and air ducts or exposed plumbing lines are not ideal to have over head for a heavily used area.

Another aspect of yin-yang theory that becomes more evident with attics and basements is temperature. Heat rises, so an attic may become uncomfortably hot and a basement may be perpetually cold. Just like their depiction in movies, people often feel spooked about their own attic or basement, as if every one of these spaces gets occupied by a ghost. It’s kind of interesting that we anticipate on instinct that a dark, cluttered, neglected space might be inhabited by spirits.

If an attic or basement is just used for storage, then having a lot of lighting is not critical. People ask me all the time if they have clutter or storage areas in certain parts of the house, if that can have a negative impact on some area of their lives. This is usually not the most important thing to be concerned with. In fact, we can say that if you are able to put all your extra miscellaneous things in the attic or basement, better there than filling up rooms that you use regularly, where you need more open space.

There are no other mystical secrets to reveal about attics and basements. They just need to be balanced according to yin-yang theory in order to be comfortable as living spaces. Not too dark, not too bright. Not too hot, not too cold. They should have high enough ceilings to function in and stable enough flooring to feel safe walking around. After that, they can be evaluated like any other floor in a house with all the other Feng Shui principles applying.

Target Your Customers With Outdoor Billboard Advertising

In today’s rapidly changing world when it comes to advertising options for your new product or service, one thing becomes abundantly clear – There is one method that has proven itself over and over again and is not affected by the new media or internet. It is the outdoor billboard advertising.

It is so appealing and successful in fact, that in 2006, American businesses spend over five and a half Billion Dollars on this type of advertisement alone. With advances in printing technology the ads become better, quicker and cheaper. Outdoor billboard advertising provides the business owner with the most ‘bang for the buck’, a very important factor in today’s economy which causes all of us to rethink our expenses.

Billboards Grab Attention. It is a passive experience that does not require the potential customer to be active. It is available in front of him as he passes by on his daily routine. Usually it is a welcome distraction from a dreary commute. A well designed, well placed outdoor billboard advertising will get thousands of views per hour.

The advertisement is there to be viewed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, rain or shine. What other medium can offer that kind of availability? Not television, with 30 second ads, if they are viewed at all and not zapped by Tivo, nor a newspaper or magazine ad that gets read once. It reaches thousands of people on a daily basis, and it can be targeted to certain population by strategic locations. When an outdoor billboard advertising is used correctly the ad is delivered frequently and on an ongoing basis.

Outdoor billboard advertising your product or service is there for a long period of time. Repeated viewing creates familiarity with the brand. Traffic gridlocks in the world’s biggest cities makes for repeated viewing by thousands of people a day.

You would be pleasantly surprised if you thought that the cost of putting up billboard advertising is prohibitive. The cost of putting up 10 outdoor billboards, for a month, will be equal – or less – to running a full page ad in a major newspaper, one single time. Which will be more affective and viewed by more people?

In the past billboard advertisements were hand painted and mounted on a frame. It required a crane to put them up. Today’s computer technology enables the ads to be designed and printed on poster-board or vinyl paper and glued to the billboard frame. The result is an excellent quality, vivid colors and a superior advertisement.

By choosing outdoor billboard advertising as the advertising method, you are getting the most cost effective, high impact technology available today.

5 Most Popular Types of Industrial Equipment

There are many forms of industrial equipment used in the workplace. Industrial equipment is usually large and made of materials such as steel and titanium for optimal strength. These machines are often needed to lift and move materials which may possibly weigh thousands of pounds.

A piece of industrial equipment which is not in working order should never be used for any reason. All equipment is inspected at the beginning of everyday to ensure they are in the best condition for workers.

By now, there are a million pieces of industrial equipment racing through your head but the question is, which ones are the most popular and most crucial to the industrial field? Below you will find five types of industrial equipment which are known to be the masters of all machines in the industrial workplace:

1. Bulldozers – Bulldozers are massive machines which are used mostly in the construction and mining industries. Bulldozers have the ability to lift and move vast amounts of dirt and other debris from one place to another. Bulldozers can operate in many conditions including snow, hail and rain. These pieces of equipment are generally used to dig up the ground and provide room for building houses or other types of buildings.

2. Cranes – Cranes are generally used to transport hard, heavy items from one place to another. The arm of the crane is used to swing the object from one place to another and the arm can be adjusted according to how far the materials need to go. Unlike bulldozers, cranes have the ability to transport objects over uneven levels of ground.

3. Excavators – Excavators are engineering vehicles which consist of backhoes and cabs. They are mainly used in the digging of trenches, foundations and holes. They can also be used to destroy objects which are no longer needed for any reason and in which case need to be compressed and condensed.

4. Fork Lifts – Forklifts are warehouse vehicles which are used to lift, hoist and transport extremely heavy items from one place to another. Forklifts are known to be indispensable pieces of equipment in many industrial workplaces.

5. Compressors – Most of the pieces of equipment listed above are used for construction purposes, however compressors are generally used in more of a factory-type setting. Compressors are used to provide high pressures of air or other forms of gases. These devices can be regulated in order to maintain the desired amount of pressure in the tank.

There are many other forms of industrial equipment. Each piece of equipment is designed to perform a specific task which contributes to the overall success in this field of work. Without these forms of equipment many industrial areas would not exist.

Insurance Telemarketing Scripts: A Step by Step Guide to Creating a Successful Script

One of the biggest challenges when designing a marketing plan is how to create a successful insurance telemarketing script. Agent usually end up with a lot of poor advice that leads to frustration and ultimately and unsuccessful campaign. In fact, the average insurance agents stops their telemarketing campaign within the first five hours.

Although all lines of insurance agents can launch a telemarketing campaign, this article is going to target the sale of individual health and life products. There is a different script and method for telemarketing consumers for senior products such as Medicare Supplements and P&C.

Let’s cover the first issue – that telemarketing or “cold calling” doesn’t work. That is false. Telemarketing can be on of the most successful ways to build your book of business. When an agent says “I tried telemarketing and it doesn’t work” what they really mean to say is “I tried telemarketing and it didn’t work for me.”

What list were they calling? Which insurance products were they selling? What’s their level of expertise? Did they create and practice their presentation before making calls? Where they using auto-dialing technology? All could have been factors that led to an unsuccessful campaign.

I spent years buying internet leads and although I experienced success, I was looking for an additional method of marketing where I had more control over my income. I quickly discovered by trial and error how to run a successful campaign where I earned over $2,000 a week in commissions.

Let’s get into a step by step process of how to design a successful script and campaign:

  1. I recommend calling businesses, not residential. Businesses are far more likely to answer and you don’t have to worry about scrubbing your list to be DNC (Do-Not-Call) compliant. DNC rules do not apply to business to business calls.
  2. Buy a list of small business owners in your state. For the sale of individual life and health products I recommend buying a list with no more than four employees. You can search “business lists” to find list companies. Don’t pay too much for a list if the price is based on accurate mailing addresses. Addresses are irrelevant when telemarketing. You’re looking to spend about 2 to 3 cents per record.
  3. Buy an auto-dialer (power dialer.) This is a crucial step because auto-dialers are capable of dialing over 100 numbers per hour which keeps you on the phone with prospects. When searching for a dialer just make sure you’re not buying a predictive dialer. Auto-dialers are typically a monthly cost ranging from $50 to $200 per month.

At this point you’re set up to run your campaign. With support from your auto-dialer vendor, you simply import and list and you’re ready to make calls. This brings us to the script. Now, before getting into the script it’s important to discuss that at this point you should be very well training on your products, underwriting and rates.

A successful campaign will hinge on one thing: Whether or not your prospect feels that you’re a knowledgeable agent. They either do or don’t. If you come across as meek and hesitant don’t expect to get very far. You need to know your stuff inside and out which requires study.

How to Design a Successful Telemarketing Script

  1. When you introduce yourself and they reply, don’t ask “How are you doing today.” The only thing that accomplishes is the prospect raising the brick wall. Get right into the reason you’re calling. Example: “Is this Tom Smith?” “Yes, this is Tom.” “Tom, my name is John Stevens and the reason I’m calling is…”
  2. You have 15 to 20 seconds…maximum. Time your script. If it goes longer than 20 seconds, ditch is and re-write it.
  3. Have a reason to call. “I’m offering free quotes” is not a reason to call. Is there anything new in your state over the past 12 months? New plans? New rates? Use that as your introduction: “Tom, the reason I’m calling is because two main life insurance carriers have released new affordable products.” Or “Tom, the reason I’m calling is because there are now three new affordable health insurance plans available in
  4. Call to action. The end of your short introduction should tell them the next step: “…all I need if you email address and I can send you the details on the plans and rates.”

So let’s sum up the presentation: “Hi, is this Tom Smith?” “Yes, this is Tom.” “Tom, the reason I’m calling today is there are three new health insurance plans available in Maryland that could have you between 15% to 25% off what you’re currently paying. I’d like to send you the details so you can compare and all I need is your email address.”

That’s a 15 second presentation and gets right to the point. If Tom is interested all you need is his email and also the ages of who will be on the policy. I do not suggest getting into qualification as this point. Simply set a time to follow up so you can go over the plans and rates.

Some Quick Final Tips

  • Avoid calling major cities especially if you’re selling insurance online. The more remote the better. City businesses receive far more telemarketing calls then rural businesses.
  • Voice tone is everything. Avoid sounding flat and boring. You want to raise and lower the tone of your voice to accentuate key words which makes for an interesting presentation.
  • Practice pitch on your family friends who will give you honest feedback about how you’re coming across.

How To Wholesale An Apartment Building

It sounds totally impossible, taking a big apartment building and assigning the contract for tens of thousands. Can you really do that, and if you can, how is it done?

Well, the answer is indeed yes, your can flip an apartment building. People no smarter than you are doing it all across the country every month, maybe every day. The way you do it is not so different to the way you flip a house, but with a few tweaks. In fact, it’s probably a little easier than flipping a house.

You may be familiar with this series of events. 1) find a profitable deal, 2) get the deal under contract, 3) find a buyer with cash, 3) assign the contract to your buyer for an assignment fee, 4) deposit the check in your bank account.

The variations are in 1) and 3).

First of all, when you are trying to find a property at a wholesale price that the end investor will still be interested in, you have have to know what goes into creating value in apartment buildings.

There’s more to it than just looking for shabby properties with deferred maintenance. You are looking for otherwise quality properties whose owners have let go for whatever reason and are in a bind because of it. One must have factor is location. Bad location is tough to overcome.

The deal has to have upside in it; there have to be things currently wrong with the property that will represent increases in value once they are turned around. So if the property is 20-30% vacant, the rents on the occupied units haven’t been raised in 5 years, and there are repairs that haven’t been done, that creates potential upside. A buyer you resell to could come in, turn all these factors around, and cause a big bump in the property’s value.

Big apartment complexes typically don’t attract newbie investors. The people you resell to are going to be pro investors who know what a good deal looks like. If your deal doesn’t have these upside factors and it doesn’t have location working for, they’ll see that immediately and bid you goodbye.

Also when you have these three elements present in the property, it is highly likely the owner is going to be hurting financially and motivated to sell cheap just to get out of the property. Deferred maintenance scares away good tenants, rents then need to be lowered to fill the units, lower rents attract lower quality tenants, lower quality tenants are harder on the property and don’t pay, and the spiral continues downward.

It is these very elements you put to work in your negotiations to get the cheap price on the contract you need. Without a big upside no end-investor will be interested, so you must know these elements.

The other thing that is different with flipping apartments is the kind of buyer you will be selling to. Rehabbing houses has become so popular that you often find yourself reselling to relative newbies, which comes with it’s own problems. When flipping apartments, just about all of the time you are dealing with flat out pros.

These are people with multi-million dollar lines of credit, bank accounts with a few million in cash sitting there, or both, who have absolutely no problem with you making a $50,000 profit assigning your contract to them. They know full well they will be pulling a couple million out of the property in two years or thereabouts, so fifty thousand dollars is a small price to pay.

The truth is, by saving the end investor the time and hassle of having to go and find the property you have created a great deal of value for them. He/she will gladly pay your fee, ensuring you receive the money because they want you to go out and do for them all over again.

This is the world of flipping apartment buildings. It may be a little different to what you are used to.

How To Remove Lane Conditioner From A Bowling Ball

Lane Conditioner (oil) can reduce the effectiveness of a ball when it soaks in. There are a number of ways to address the problem.

One of the easiest ways to get oil out, is to not let lane conditioner (oil) get in. I’m a big fan of wiping the ball off before every shot. Terry cloth or microfiber towels help remove oil from the surface actively as you bowl. By keeping the surface clean, you don’t get oil, all ready on the ball from the last shot, impeding ball reaction. Manufacturer recommended cleaners or cleaner/polishes will help minimize oil absorption after play is completed.

The key, to addressing the oil in the ball problem, is, how and to what “degree” you subject your bowling ball to heat. Ebonite International will tell you, hot tap water (usually 120 degrees or so, HOTTER is NOT better) will warm the surface and float the oil off the ball. You’ll need a bucket or container big enough to hold a bowling ball. You must soak the ball (submerge it in the bucket or container) for half an hour, or thereabouts. You will need to deal with slimy finger grips (if installed) and soggy tape (don’t leave it in while submerging).

Still oily, do it again. Let dry at room temperature.

A final wipe down with rubbing alcohol or manufacturer recommended cleaner/cleaner polish and you are ready, once again, to roll. Anything added to an alcohol solvent (fragrance, color like in household cleaners) will leave a residue, which can lead to other problems.

Another option, the Ebonite company does have a system (called Hook Again) using dry chemicals to draw oil out of a bowling ball.

Also, recent Brunswick research shows that a controlled system to sweat balls of oil has merit. Be careful, opinions vary. The Ebonite company doesn’t sanction any heating of the covers of their bowling balls (as in sun, oven, etc.) as a solution to oil absorption and reaction loss.

Storm/Roto Grip and Ebonite/Hammer/Columbia/Track point out that warming a ball too quickly creates problems, the least of which is a voided warrantee. Oil comes out but so does some of the chemical structure of the cover (plasticizers), causing (they feel) brittleness and loss of structural integrity.

Warm coverstock surface and cool core occasionally split apart, called core separation.

Things You Need to Lay Stress on While Renting a Car

Rental car deals gain significant weightage only when renters can hire it with better opportunities, taking care of the things, such as price, comfort, safety and the insurance policies under which the hire car can be covered. Luxury rental cars provide ample advantages to the renters. But the renters having no any prior experience of car hiring must lay stress on the following things while renting elegant cars for their pleasurable trip.

Comfort: The luxury vehicle that a renter chooses may not be equipped with all those equipment that a renter aspires for. For an instance, rental cars are not furnished with the equipment such as baby seats or seats for the elderly people. Renters must ask for it ahead of time so that they can get it easily. Renters will have to take care of the comfort features that they need for their trip. Also, enquiring about the air conditioner, music system or other comfortable features of the rental cars, while hiring it can get you a lot of advantages later.

Safety: Although most of the car rental customers are safety-obsessed yet they often commit a mistake of not considering the features that can give a higher degree of safety. Things like fire extinguishers, high-end braking system and doors for an easy exit and entry of the visitors are very necessary. Visitors must take a good care of these things at the time of renting of luxury cars.

Price: Customers must take care of the price and make sincere efforts to beat the rental car prices snatching out a suitable rental car deal. The price of the rental cars must be very affordable and match the needs of the customers. Renters must keep one thing in mind that the price of the hire cars may increase or decrease depending on its size and the number of seats the car.

Insurance policies: It must be taken care of to prevent the harrowing situations and not to pay a big amount towards breakdown or accident of hire cars. Policies such as Collision Damage waiver and Personal insurance policies may be suggested to take benefits of it, in the case of massive damages of the cars and loss of lives of the passengers in rental accidents.

Renters must keep the above-said things in mind while making the selection of luxury hire cars for long-term leasing. Taking good care of these things can lead the visitors on the way to get the best priced, safe and comfortable hire cars of their choice.

The Advantages of a Successful Container Tracking System

Container tracking systems are the new norm for companies that ship their goods overseas. In order to keep track of their valuable products, a number of innovations have been devised to allow the precise tracking of even small containers. This allows companies to ship and receive goods on a more precise timeline and to keep operating expenses lower, even while shipping more product.

Shipping containers represent ‘returnable assets’. These are objects that have a value to the company because they can be used multiple times. Any sort of container can be thought of as a shipping container, and any shipping container is a returnable asset.

From large containers on a container ship to a keg that holds beer or wine, if it is used to ship something and can be used repetitively, it is considered a returnable asset and so should be tracked.

The reason that tracking systems for containers is so important, besides the obvious concern for the product being shipped inside of them, is that a shipping container represents a valuable asset for a company.

Not only is it a hard asset, in that the loss of it would cost the company money to replace it, but it also has a soft cost, which is the time and energy (and thus profit) lost in tracking down containers that have gone missing, or arguing with suppliers and customers about count discrepancies.

For example, the inability to properly track a shipping container, such as 50 kegs for example, can present a logistical problem for a beer production facility when it comes time to ship their product to a bottling plant. A large shipping container used to ship sneakers from China represents a much bigger monetary investment and thus a bigger loss to the company if it goes missing.

A well designed tracking system can thus be invaluable to a company that has many shipping containers that are being shipped all over the world. It can track multiple shipping containers at one time, manage their storage and return to the home base of production, and coordinate the shipping process so that the minimal amount of time and energy are used.

Using a tracking application, a company can input info about the container and its contents, track its location to the exact coordinates around the globe, control its movements through ports, and even be send feedback when its operational life has been reached.

In short, a well-designed container tracking system is an important investment for the security, control, shipping, and eventual recovery of any returnable asset, big or small. If used correctly it can keep costs down and production up, and is an invaluable aid to any company that ships their goods to anywhere in the world.

Life Of A Poor Person

Life as a struggling family trying to live in the real world. This is how most life really is when you live in the world today. Life when I was growing up was hard not just for me and my family. I remember my earliest memories are of hard times with my farther working so many hours that my father was hardly ever home. My father had a delivery service for a general food store when I was a child. I remember one year it snowed twenty four inches of snow my father had to walk through all this snow in nearly twenty below temperature to just get the little bit of food our family could afford to eat.

Life was always a struggle growing up my father made about one hundred dollars a week we live in a three room apartment four the six of us. I remember we were so sick all the time when we were young that my father had to work as much as he could just to try pay all the medical bills that were constantly coming due. I remember Christmas would come around and there was so little money that my family hardly ever had a real Christmas. I remember one year it was around Christmas time my parents had put aside about one hundred dollars to shop for our Christmas then my older brother knocked a pot of boiling hot coffee water over his stomach. There went our Christmas, the hospital bills ate that money up and more. I remember the painful look on my fathers face when he had to tell his children that there would be no Christmas this year.

I remember my family did not have ten new out fits for all four of us kids to where to school. My father did paid one hundred and twenty dollars a year to send us to Catholic school. I remember I was about seven years old coming home from school one to see my poor mother wearing a pair of men`s shoes just so her children had clothes to wear to school. I remember time when my mother actually had to make spaghetti sandwiches for us kids to take to school. Times were so hard for my family when I was growing up that we could not afford to stay in this apartment any more. I remember we packed all our belongings up and my father bought this tent where we all went camping for more then a year.

My family and I spent the summer and half the winter in this camp ground. there was six of us living with this big collie in one army tent. We were stuffed in this tent like luggage all trying to sleep. I remember we lived on pork and beans for months to eat. I remember we were so poor us kids had to run around the camp ground in women`s pants half the time because there was so little money. I remember the terrible smell that use to come from the out houses when I went to the bathroom. I remember we would go days without being able to take a shower. That tent smelled really bad at times with all of my family in one tent. I remember the fun times me and my brothers had playing football with other kids at the camp ground.

I remember it was late October when my parents decided that me and my mother along with my youngest brother would take the bus up to my mothers parents in Canada for a four or five months. I remember that we were eating potted meat on the bus just trying make the more then three day and night ride from Chicago to Vancouver Canada to my grand parents. I was so sick from riding on that bus for three straight days and nights. I remember when we arrived at the bus station my cousin was there waiting with a cab to take us to my grandparents apartment. I remember my brother and I ate and slept for almost two days straight. I sure was glad to get out of that tent and into a clean bed. I remember it was the first time I had a bed and room where there was nobody in the same area.

I remember this was the first time in about six months since I had clean clothes and food to eat that was not peanut butter or pork and beans. My grandparents were not rich or even middle class but they are the best grandparents a young kid could ever ask for. My mother was always going without something so that her children could have better. My grandparents made sure that my brother and I had some new clothes and good food the time that we were there.

I remember it was about four months before my father had found a place for all of us to live so we had to take the bus back to Chicago. My father had rented a hotel room at this hotel for thirty five dollars a week.I remember my older brother telling me how that had slept on bakery baskets for the whole time we were gone in the freezing cold truck.I remember finding out that my father had to put our collie to sleep because our dog had become to wild while staying at the camp ground. I remember she was so bad that if we rolled over on her tail while we were sleeping our dog would bite us so my father had to have her put away. I felt so lost for the longest time this dog was part of our family.

I remember when I first went into room a how small it was for all six of my family to live. I remember the four years how my mother and father worked so hard just make sure that us kids had one meal a day to eat before going to bed at night. I ate so many potato chips for lunch because chips were a nickel and pop was dime. I went to school at Emerson school for my sixth through eighth grade. I remember working with my father after school delivering groceries I was thirteen years old going to school and working with my father after school til around midnight just to help keep money coming in for my family to eat. I remember all the early years there was no holidays for us we had gotten so used to not having money to afford to spend money on holidays that we almost never thought about holidays. For me and my family holidays were just another normal day. I remember we were so poor that me and my family never went to a doctor or dentist from the time I was seven until my father became sick when I was nineteen years old.

My father had a bad heart and bad lungs from years of smoking that he could not work any more. I remember the first job I ever had out side of part time work doing odd jobs was at the very same hotel where we were living as a desk clerk. I remember this job paid two dollars and sixty five cents and hour. I was able to afford my own clothes and food for the first time in my life. I was so proud to have this job I was really making money of my own so I did not have to depend on my parents for food or clothes. I had to work my sixty hours a week and take care of my father at the same time. I remember the first time I ever bought new clothes and shoes I was so proud that I had worked to have so new clothes for the first time in my life. I ate so much while working the next four years that I was finally nick named the cow by my family because I was so fat from eating food that my family usually never afford. This was how I became over weight for years ahead.

I remember as the years went by My father and mother were living in the house that my older brother had bought to rent as apartments but then the hotel where we were managing was sold and we were both out of jobs so we all moved into the apartment upstairs where once again I had to live off my fathers social security. I remember by know my father was constantly on oxygen all the time in those days. My father was getting sicker by the year. I remember the for several years that followed times were so hard just trying to survive as a family . Then my older brother got a job managing another hotel in the city so my brothers and my mother went to help out. I was at the house trying to help my father out because he could hardly breath by then.

I finally had a my first job working construction when my oldest brother started contracting from a real estate company. I spent the next five years learning every trade that I could in the construction business. I was making more money then I ever thought I could because I was working one hundred hours a week. My love life could never get going because I was always working. I could never commit to having a another person in my life . This was not because I did not love the women that came and left my life. I was so in love with this one girl but I was always working so this woman called me a machine. I simply let this woman walk out of my life. I remember what it is like to struggle to live as a kid. I remember the seeing the pain in my fathers face when there was no holidays for us as children.I remember the look if my mother having to wear men`s shoes so that her children could have some clothes to wear to school.

I remember the loss I felt when some woman would walk out of my life. I was so driven to have all the things that I could not have when I was young. I was so driven to make sure that I could eat or where any thing I wanted. I would work countless hours to have every thing that I wanted this is what happens when you grow up poor. I wanted to have more personally. I just did not want to have a family that would have to do without. I was so driven to have that even when I hurt myself on the job I would not even go to a doctor. I once almost cut three fingers of my left hand when a six foot level struck my left hand while it was laying across a metal floor plate. I put splints on the really bad cuts and went back to work. I once had a car crash into the back of my legs. My legs were swelling up like a football. I had the blood drained of my legs and never went back to the doctor. I have had countless injuries over the years yet I have never gone the the doctor. I remember my father working all day with third degree burns on his shoulders from boiling hot water. I remember once my father broke his shoulder when we were at the ball field then went to the doctor to have it set. The very next day my father took off the splint and went to work because he had a family to support. I can not even imagine the kind of pain he must have suffered through to go to work . I learned very young when you are poor you live with injuries that most people could not even bare.

These are some of the things that I learned being poor when I was growing up. I believe that no one should have to go through most thing that I have seen or lived. I learned to have to much drive to work and not enough to take the time to love and live. I do not go through one day where the pain from over working my joints do not hurt and swell from to much work that I have done.

I could write about the hard times that me and my family have gone through. I am not saying there was not a lot of good times and fun for me and my family.I am not writing this out of self pity. I am writing this article to inform people about what being poor is really like. I missed out on learning the good times of spending holidays with your family. I really am a self educated man on the cost of being born into a poor and struggling family. My family and I have stayed so close through all this and much more.

I hope that this article will help people to understand why I want a better way of life for all our people. I believe that if democracy is really going to work it has to be for all people no matter race religion or sexual preference. I believe that no child should have to go without the basic daily needs. I pray that this article will change the future for so many families that are going have to see their children go without. This is why I believe that our country must come together for all our people. I really do believe that people can put aside their differences to make life in our country fair for all people I believe that every child deserves a chance to have a fulfilling life.

As always I write with respect.

Placemats – How To Choose A Placemat to Enhance Your Dining Experience

One of the quickest and least expensive ways to change the look and feel of your dining table is to purchase a set of new placemats. Not only will this purchase add color and style to your table but they can also aid in protecting your table from damage due to hot plates and dishes. They will also make clean-up easier after meal time as they can easily be removed from the table and either shaken or wiped clean of any food debris or spills.

Some important considerations in purchasing placemats for your dining table are: what type of material are they made from, the amount of use they will receive and who will be using them. Obviously, other factors to consider are what will best fit with your decorating style. Color, pattern, shape and design are all decisions that will be part of your placemat purchase.

If you intend to use the same set of placemats every day, selecting a more durable and easily cleaned material is key to a successful purchase. Plastic mats are both durable and clean easily but, unless small children and messy teenagers are dining at the table, they should be reserved for outdoor use. Plastic mats are far too casual for indoor dining use and are better suited to picnics and Bar-B-Ques. Vinyl, hardboard, laminates and stain resistant placemats are well suited for continual daily use and they should be able to survive children of all ages.

If you are trying to create a dining experience that is for formal entertaining, either business or pleasure, there are many different placemat materials available that can help create an air of elegance and class. Linen cloth mats, always a classic, come in many different colors and designs and they lend themselves to a more formal setting. If you are looking to jazz up your table setting, placemats that are made from bamboo, mirror type material or leather can help create a more contemporary and trendy formal atmosphere.

Creating a festive or special occasion table is easy with the wide selection of colors, textures and materials available for today’s table. A children’s party is perfect for using paper placemats and allowing the children to design their own mats as a party game. Weddings, birthdays and holidays are easy to decorate for when placemats are selected based on the color themes generally associated with that holiday or occasion.

Remember the idea behind placemats is that they are to help enhance the look and feel of your table. Certainly they can be selected to help protect your table but it is the added color and charm that they bring that helps stage the dining table and create a wonderful dining experience for everyone.

Techniques in Rug Making

Rugs are often interchanged with carpets. Although given that there is a wide range of designs to choose from, unlike wall-to-wall carpets that area permanently attached, rugs don’t only serve as a kind of flooring but it can also be a decorative additions to dull walls inside a home. So how is it really made?

Rug making is a prehistoric art and craft that would probably not go out of date. It goes way back and evolves through time. It is a skill that was involves a lot of techniques and procedures. It may seem challenging for one to do but considering that it was established back in the days where there is not much technology and machines to help people with their everyday lives, people have found a way to make it less difficult. So what are these techniques that were used during the ancient times and are still being used until today?

Rug-hooking has been around for at least two centuries. In ancient times, it was a craft most commonly done by people experiencing scarcity: Poor communities. And since that is so, they would often search their homes for scrap materials to be used, usually snippets of used fabrics. And while women from rich families where enrolled in schools teaching quilting and embroidery, deprived women would use whatever materials they found accessible to make their own home-made floor coverings. Customary hooking of rugs is a process involving loops of fabric, specifically wool, being pulled all the way through a backing material. This technique is identified as Traditional rug hooking. It uses a tool similar to a crochet hook that is mounted in a wood handle for support.

On the other hand braiding is a technique that is most familiar and probably common to ones ears. The process starts from the center working its way out until the desired size of the rug is achieved. Similar to braiding your child’s hair, this technique most often uses three or more strips of cloths or fabrics but can also be possible using thick yarns, sewing the braids together to keep it intact. Braided rugs are most commonly elliptical than rectangular in shape.

The word Crochet is derived from the French word croc that means a hook. Crocheted rugs are made of thick fabrics or threads using a sizeable hook. Just like the traditional rug hooking, the process of crocheting involves loops being pulled but this time instead of pulling through a backing material the fabrics are being pulled through other loops which is very similar to knitting. Crocheting isn’t just for area rugs. In fact, in early times it is considered a livelihood by most families creating garments and mantles.

Braiding, Crocheting, and Hooking are just some techniques in the art of rug-making. There are more others like needle-punching, and weaving that area used in the process. Each technique requires tools and materials that are probably similar to one another. How ever hard rug-making is, one thing is for sure. It requires a special skill that if one does not possess; he or she will not succeed in this field: PATIENCE.

Cleaning And Killing Black Mold With Common, Non-Toxic, Household Products

You will find several household products you are able to use for cleaning black mold. This is a short list of commonly used items that are safe to use.

Mold is really a fungus that thrives in moist or humid conditions. It could be discovered in locations from the house that remains damp, for example the bathroom, kitchen or basement. Mold can be damaging to the surface it grows on, discoloring or corroding it. It can also affect people with allergies and can cause a fatal lung infection if breathed in. The key to mold control is moisture control.

It is essential to dry water damaged areas and items within 24-48 hours to prevent mold growth. If mold is a problem in your house, clean up the mold and get rid of the excess water or moisture. Fix leaky plumbing or other sources of h2o. Wash mold off tough surfaces with detergent and water, and dry totally. Absorbent materials (for example ceiling tiles & carpet) that become moldy may have to be replaced. These house remedies can help get rid of mold effectively.

1. Cleaning Black Mold With Detergent and Water

You are able to use a solution of detergent and water to clean off surface mold from non-porous material such as glass and tiles. Detergent is not a mold killer, the solution is meant for scrubbing off the visible mold from the surfaces. When mold grows on non-porous material, it’s good enough to have all the surface molds cleaned thoroughly. It’s not necessary to kill the mold. For cleaning black mold off outdoor cushions, mix a gallon of water and 1/4 cup of soap in the bucket. You can stir the mix around with your hand and the sponge.

The mixture should be slightly sudsy. Scrub the cushions with the sponge. You can scrub as tough as you like until you get the mold and mildew stains off. The detergent should kill the mold and mildew while it’s breaking down the stains. Dowse any remaining stains with lemon juice. You may still have some pale stains remaining on the cushions once you have finished cleaning them. These should be saturated with lemon juice. Let the cushions dry in the sun. The lemon juice will lift the remainder of the stain out from the cushion using the sunlight as a catalyst.

2. Cleaning Black Mold With Baking Soda

Sprinkle baking soda over moldy carpet to absorb the mold and freshen the air. Leave it on the carpet for as little as 20 minutes or overnight. Use a vacuum cleaner with an empty bag for maximum efficiency to vacuum up the baking soda. Baking Soda paste can be used to clean tile floors as well. It’s suggested that you mix enough water with the baking soda to create a soft paste, then apply it to the trouble spots on your tile, scrub, and rinse with a vinegar/water mixture to neutralize the baking soda to avoid residue.

3. Cleaning Black Mold With Borax Powder (this one is possibly the easiest!)

Use a solution of 1 cup of borax powder to 1 cup of h2o to mop floors. Scrub the black mold with the disinfecting solution over a small area. Wipe away the fluid and scum of mold and disinfecting solution with old rags, but do not rinse the cleansed area. Leaving some borax behind will help prevent the black mold from returning. Repeat steps until you have cleansed all the black mold. Leave your work area open to ventilation and exposed to the sun if possible. This will help speed the drying process and blow out any spores in the air. That will also help reduce the possibility of a recurrence of black mold.

4. Cleaning Black Mold With Vinegar

Clean mold on hard surfaces using a solution of equal parts vinegar and water. Fill a plastic spray bottle with the solution. Spray surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom with the solution and scrub the area with a tough brush. The latest trend in mold and mildew control is the shower and bathroom sprays that use once you’re done taking a shower. These products work just fine, but they act on the same principle as the vinegar spray. Vinegar can substitute just about any bathroom cleaning product sold today, with the exception of heavy duty abrasive cleaners like Comet.

5. Cleaning Black Mold With Chlorine Bleach

Use a solution of one part chlorine bleach to one part h2o to clean carpeting and upholstery that has been affected by mold. Soak a sponge or cloth in the solution and swipe it across the mold to trap the spores in the cloth. NOTE… While leach will clean the black mold, it will not kill it on porous surfaces. You must still use a mold killer before or after you clean the black mold with chlorine bleach.

6. Cleaning Black Mold With Hydrogen Peroxide

Get a bottle of hydrogen peroxide with 3% concentration from your local drug stores. Transfer the hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle and spray it onto the mold infected surface. Leave it for at least 15 minutes for hydrogen peroxide to take action and kill the molds. After that, scour the area to remove all the mold and mold stains.

For stubborn mold in tough to reach places, like the grout of tiles, use full-strength hydrogen peroxide. Simply apply a number of capfuls to the affected area, allow it to sit for 15 minutes and scrub with an old toothbrush. Note… Keep the spray bottle of remaining hydrogen peroxide in dark place as light reduces the effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide. For more effective mold removal, you may consider using hydrogen peroxide with vinegar during the cleaning process.

Hydrogen peroxide is effective at killing molds as it has the elements of anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal. It is a much safer mold cleaner as compared to bleach because it does not produce toxic residue or toxic fumes that harm the environment. Hydrogen peroxide is good at cleaning mold on almost any materials including clothes, walls, bathroom fixtures and other kitchen appliances. For removable rugs, lay them outside on a sunny day with the back of the carpeting exposed to the sun. Mix one part of 3% hydrogen peroxide with five parts h2o. Spray the solution onto the back of the carpet and allow the sun to hit the carpeting for a day. The combination of direct sunlight and hydrogen peroxide will kill mold spores.

7. Cleaning Black Mold With Ammonia

Make an ammonia solution using a ratio of 1 part of ammonia to 1 part of h2o. Fill a spray bottle with ammonia solution and spray it onto the moldy surfaces. Leave the solution to sit for a number of hours before rinsing with h2o. After rinsing or wiping with water, allow the areas to dry completely. For vinyl seats like in your boat, combine 1/4 cup of ammonia with 1 cup of water, and pour this solution into a spray bottle. Spray the mold with this mixture, and scrub it with a bristle brush. Rinse the solution off with clean water to remove it from the vinyl seats. If you still notice mold on the seats, use rubbing alcohol.

NOTE… Ammonia, similar to bleach kills mold growing on non-porous materials like bathtubs, tiles, countertops, and glass. However ammonia is not an effective killer for mold growing in porous materials like drywall and woods. Ammonia is a harsh chemical, it emits toxic fumes when mixed with bleach. Use ammonia with care.

8. Cleaning Black Mold With Liquid Laundry Detergent

Pour two cups of cold h2o and 1 tbsp. liquid laundry soap into a bowl. Mix it up vigorously with a whisk to create thick suds. Dip a rag into the bowl to scoop out the suds. Rub the suds gently onto the moldy carpet. Switch to clean portions from the rag and apply more suds often. Rinse the carpeting with a rag and plain water. Blot thoroughly with a dry rag to remove excessive moisture. Mix 1 gallon of warm h2o and 1/2 cup borax powder into a bucket if the mold remains. Dip a scrub brush into the borax solution and scrub the carpet until the mold is gone. Rinse the carpet with a rag and plain water, and dry thoroughly with a clean rag.

9. Cleaning Black Mold With A Homemade Disinfectant Spray

Once all of the mold has been cleaned, use a disinfectant spray to purify the area. In a plastic spray bottle, combine 1 cup of distilled (or spring) h2o, 1 cup of 91% isopropyl alcohol and the juice of a couple average lemons. The solution is safe enough to spray into the air and does not harm surfaces that it comes into contact with. Store the spray bottle in the refrigerator and use within a few weeks. This will give your house the sterile smell of a doctors office as well as a ‘Lemon Pledge’ hint creating the illusion of ‘dusting all day’!

10. Cleaning Black Mold With Grapefruit Seed Extract

Most households do not have Grapefruit Seed Extract in the cupboard but it’s readily available. Combine 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract to about 1 cup of water will make a useful mold killing solution. Simply squirt the solution on moldy surfaces while wiping with a soft cloth to remove mold and the harmless, light residue will prevent it from coming back.

11. Cleaning Black Mold With Citric Acid

Your local Whole Foods or co-op should have crystallized citric acid on hand and it is relatively inexpensive. Use about 1 cup of acid to 1.5 gallons of hot water. You are able to wring out your mop a little and spread it on lightly, but the chances of it evaporating before you get around to scrubbing increase when you use less. Soak the floor(tile floors only) if you have a large room and need time to do all the scrubbing. Letting the acid soak a little will also give it time to break up mineral deposits, dirt, rust and of course the black mold.

You will need to rinse a number of times with citric acid, it does not come up as easily as other products but it’s much safer around small children. Cleaning a tile floor with citric acid is not only environmentally friendly, it’s incredibly effective. You may already be familiar with the orange hand cleaner products, they use citric acid for cleaning as well.

And there you have it, household solutions to use for cleaning black mold
