Best Ways to Cleaning Linoleum Floors

If you have linoleum flooring, you will want to keep it as clean as possible. Many people confuse cleaning linoleum floor with cleaning vinyl floor. Vinyl flooring is usually found in older establishments.

Needed Materials

When you are cleaning anything, you need to make sure that you have all of the needed materials. Once you make up your mind to clean something, the last thing you want to do is get discouraged and delay the project. In order to clean linoleum flooring, you will need to get a bucket, cloth, and vinegar.

Mixing the Solution

When you are ready to make the solution, you can mix a little water into the vinegar. A lot of people that can not stand the smell of vinegar dilute the vinegar with water. If you are doing a quick run-over, you will not need a lot of vinegar. If you are doing a deep-down clean, you will need to use a generous amount of vinegar. Linoleum flooring is not difficult to clean because the material is not porous.

Getting Ready

Once you have finished making the cleaning mixture, take a dry cloth and place it in the mixture. Let the rag soak for at least one to two minutes before you begin cleaning the floor. Once you let it soak, wring out the rag so that it is damn and not completely dry. A damn rag is best to use due to the fact that most floors of this type are not sealed. For this primary reason, you need a damp rage. This is to ensure that the cleaning mixture does not soak into the carpets.

Cleaning

When it comes to cleansing this type of flooring, mop over the entire floor once. This quick mop through will help loosen the dirt and will not require too much scrubbing. Once you have completed this cleaning process, you should have gone over the area at least three times. If your floor is not sparkling, you may need to clean with a little more force.

Waiting

Linoleum flooring does not take long to dry, but while you are waiting, you can clean up other parts of your home, wash dishes and open all of the windows so that the process completes quicker. This is a great method to use in order to keep your linoleum flooring sparkling clean. You can repeat this method as many times as you need to. If you clean on a regular basis, keep in mind that you will not need to use as much vinegar as you did the first time.
