Choosing the Right Anti-Aging Treatments

When you choose your anti aging treatment there are several aspects to consider; The treatments range from the highly invasive and painful, to the mild and the natural. Considering your budget and what you hope to achieve is very important, as some anti aging treatments do not yield permanent effects, while others are a one-time expenditure.

Face lifts

In this article I will mostly be concentrating on the interior area. However, most of these treatments can be used on other areas of the body too. In the world of surgery, the facelift is very common and very popular. But do not be fooled into thinking that it is simple or cheap; Whatever the sales people would like you to believe, the process is painful, expensive and carries any of the inherent risks on surgery too. Face lifts work via a surgeon cutting around the contours of your skin, starting behind the ears and tightening the skin and muscles underneath. That is of course a very simplified description, but does not give you a picture of the type of procedure you would be going through. However, surgery is not all bad. Although it is expensive it is a one-time expenditure, and it requires no maintenance once you have protected results and you are guaranteed results. Just make sure you choose a reputable surgeon who will not leave you looking like you are in a wind tunnel!

Botox

While Botox is not as invasive as surgery, you should still bear in mind that you are poisoning your skin. Botox works by injection of the toxin into the muscles in your skin, which paralyses them and dramatically reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Botox is definitely an effective option; However it does not last and will require regular injections to maintain the effect. It also has the effect of lowering your expression; As you are limiting your facial muscles' movement, you must bear in mind that you will be less expressive, and can over do the treatment.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels are different to Botox in that they work from the outside; Rather than plumping out the skin they take the top layer of skin off. This reduces the appearance of fine wrinkles, freckles and other irregular pigmentation, and generally removes the wear and tear of life which skin suffers. A chemical peel can yield fabulous results, but as you are in essence removing the top layer of your skin with acid, you should be ready to experience some side effects! Side effects are minimal on the face, so long as you use a reliable supplier, but can be a little more unpredictable on the hands.

The three anti aging treatments I have described above are the most invasive types to help fight the signs of aging. It is important to remember that there are other options available. These include the nightly use of creams, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and even simple changes to your diet and lifestyle can have a huge impact on making your appearance more youthful!
