Choosing Your New Chandelier

When it comes down to choosing the right chandelier for your home you need to consider the decor of your house. You will also need to decide on the style, size and lighting requirements. Take your time to get these things right and you will be able to create a sense of luxury and beauty within your own home.

The style of your chandeliers really depends on the character, design and decor within your own house.

A good place to start is to browse through home and renovation magazines. I always find it helpful to have two folders, one with all the inspiring furnishing that I would like to have in a room and one with furnishing that I do not like. This will help you get a better sense of what you like and do not like. Next you need to have a look at your existing furnishing and decide whether you can currently work with what you already have.

Next you need to take some pictures of the room and take these images to the lighting store- trust me, this is a great tip as it will help you select the right chandelier. Once at the store speak to a lighting consultant and show them some of the images you had previously cut out and also so the consultant images of the room you want to place the chandelier in.

Another key tip is to consider the size of the chandelier, something that looks great in store may look too large or too small in your home. I would recommend that you measure the room and work out an approximate size before heading to the store. For example, if you are considering a chandelier for the dining room you should ensure that the diameter of chandelier is not larger than 3/4 of your dining table.

Lastly you need to decide on your lighting requirements for the room. You need to choose a chandelier that will suit your style whether you want a bright or something to create mood lighting. A thing to note, the more bulbs on a chandelier the costly it is going to run. However a good way to achieve different lighting settings is to install a dimmer switch to the chandelier, this will gives you more control of the lighting.

If you do all these things you on your way of creating a piece of luxury in your home.
