Effective Homemade Hair Masks For Dry, Oily, And Split-Ended Hair

Hair is just like a fashion accessory because it is styled in a way that can complement different clothes, styles, and even our personality. However, while on the process of doing so, our hair can sometimes suffer from a lot of damages that may range from oily hair to split ends. Homemade hair masks can help you restore the luxuriousness of your hair without having to pay big bucks at a salon.

HOMEMADE MASKS FOR DRY HAIR

There are different kinds of homemade masks that target different kinds of issues. One of the most common issues is dry or damaged hair. This is caused by a variety of factors such as over use of hair tools and prolonged sun exposure. Your hair may appear dry and brittle. Here are a couple different masks you can do at home that will be able to put some moisture back into your hair.

Olive Oil Mask

Olive oil is not just made for cookin’, it’s made for your hair too. It has great conditioning properties that can definitely put the shine back on your hair. Use a good quality olive oil (try looking for cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil that is made from organic olives because this process doesn’t destroy the vitamins, enzymes and other good stuff). Get 20ml of warm oil (not hot, mind you. You don’t want to have deep fried hair for breakfast), grab a wide tooth comb, and brush your hair through, making sure that it is evenly distributed all throughout. Leave it on for half an hour and then wash with a gentle shampoo. If you really have severe damage, you can leave it on overnight and wash it in the morning.

Moisturizing and Nourishing Egg Mask For Dry Hair

In a bowl, combine one egg, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix them all together very well, and apply it on your hair using a comb in order to distribute it evenly. Massage it onto the scalp in order to promote good blood circulation. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse off.

HOMEMADE MASKS FOR OILY HAIR

Another dilemma is having oily hair. Most of the time this is caused by frequent exposure to dust and dirt. Overactive oil glands (sebaceous glands) are also the cause. This type of hair needs proper washing because it makes the hair appear greasy and dull. There are also a couple of homemade hair masks that can definitely help you maintain healthy looking hair.

Pre-Shampoo Parsley Nourishing Mask

We all know that parsley is a great addition to your yummy dishes, but it also has properties that can give nutritious benefits to your hair. You need 100 grams of strained parsley, roughly chopped, 1 teaspoon of vodka and 2 tablespoons of castor oil. Mix it well, and rub into the roots (parsley can help stimulate growth as well). Let it stay for half an hour and then rinse with vinegar. This is a pre-shampoo mask, so don’t worry about your hair smelling like vinegar. Use a gentle shampoo when you wash afterwards.

Yogurt Egg mask for Oily Hair

Yogurt has such great benefits that it is even used to make hair healthier. Egg yolk also has conditioning properties that helps make your hair appear luscious. All you have to do is combine 1 egg with 50 grams of yogurt and apply to hair that is already washed. Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.

HAIR MASK FOR SPLIT ENDS

Split ends are one of the worst hair problems that one can have (myself included). This happens when the protective cuticle of the hair is destroyed, which thus makes the hair split into two. Frequent exposure to harsh chemicals (especially when you color your hair often), hair tools and the like causes it to get badly damaged. The only way to get rid of it is to cut it with scissors.

Honey Mask For Split Ends

Honey has properties that can help keep the hair moisturized, and therefore can help prevent split ends from occurring. Give your ends that much needed love by mixing 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of almond oil. Mix them well and apply it on the hair, concentrating on the ends. Leave it on for half an hour and rinse well with tolerably hot water (it makes it easier to remove excess oil and honey).

Your kitchen can have all of the ingredients that you would need in order to make organic, homemade hair masks. Use them at least once a week, depending on the severity of the problem. This way, you will be able to bid these hair problems adieu!
