Gatlinburg, Tennessee Must See Events

If you're in the Smoky Mountains, you'll want to check into Gatlinburg, Tennessee events for the season. Summer is the busiest season in the town, although you'll actually find events scheduled year round.

The sky lights up for the Fourth of July Midnight Parade, which takes place every July 3-4 in downtown Gatlinburg. It salutes the fighting women and men of the US Military. It is scheduled for two days, but technically starts at midnight of July 3, going into July 4.

One night of fireworks is never enough, so stay in town for the "Stand Here" Fireworks Finale on July 4 of each year. You can see the fireworks from downtown.

The Smoky Mountain Tunes & Tales is a street performance event that lasts all summer long. It features artisans that perform as though they lived in the 1800's, as well as storytellers and musical performers in costume. This takes place in downtown Gatlinburg.

The Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival in August helps to celebrate the local music as it is traced back to early Appalachia. This is a more recent addition to the events calendar for Gatlinburg.

For a bit of a wilder time, enjoy Gatlinburg's River Raft Regatta on July 4. You can find the regatta in downtown Gatlinburg on the Little Pigeon River.

The Gatlinburg Fine Arts Festival shows off arts, and artists from all around the country. It runs from the end of August into the beginning of September, over the Labor Day weekend. You can find the festival at the Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, in downtown Gatlinburg.

For a taste of what life was like in days long past, attend the Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair, the last week of July. There are over 150 booths, with music, as well as arts and crafts. You will be able to see craftspeople demonstrating their skills, and they can even help you learn to craft. There is also live bluegrass and country music.

The Farmers Market runs on Saturdays from mid-May to mid-October, offering you local food ideas and tales of mountain life. This event takes place in town, as well.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee events do not end when summer ends. They are year round. Some of the Winter events include Winter Magic, which runs from early November through the end of February. The city is lit up with millions of lights and displays, and it's really a one-of-a-kind scene.

New Years Eve finds people in Gatlinburg celebrating their Ball Drop and Fireworks. Beside the eye-popping fireworks, there's a street party held along the Parkway. It's a unique and lovely way to ring in the New Year.

Also in the Winter months is the Gatlinburg Improv Fest, running the last week of February. You can enjoy the performers at the Sweet Fanny Adams Theater.

From the first week of January until Mid-March, come to the mountains for the Ober Gatlinburg Winter Sports. They have snowmaking machines that give you wonderful powder. Enjoy skiing, snowboarding and tubing. They have a wildlife encounter, and summer activities, too.

Store Britches is a Winter fundraising event that benefits the restoration of the Ogle cabin. Presented by the Gatlinburg Garden Club, this play is about the history of the Smoky Mountains.

As you see, whatever the season, there are always special events being held in Gatlinburg.
