High School Student Report – The 5 Barriers to Success in School

I have put this report together for any teenager that is about to start High School or is already a freshman or sophomore who is having a tough time in school and how by following a few simple steps you can bust through the barriers that could be holding you back.

This Report has come out of my own personal experiences along with years of research and working with people to become more successful both in business and in their personal lives by designing a lifestyle plan that fit their needs. This Report will give you some of the tools you need to become more effective and successful in High School.

Below I have listed common barriers High School students face and then a suggested solution for each one:

Barrier #1: Not setting your short and long-term school goals for each quarter and annually to track your progress.

Solution: Ask yourself what you want to achieve each quarter and then ask your parents and school consular what you need to do to reach that goal. The look at the whole school year and repeat the process again.

Barrier #2: Lack of organization, not knowing what to do and when to do it.

Solution: Set up time-lines for projects and post them on a calendar and follow it up with a daily to-do list. I would be lost without my online calendar and what’s called a mind-mapping program for larger projects. There are a number of them online, I use Google calendar and a program called x-mind, I suggest looking at more than one and then decide which is right for you.

Barrier #3: Being afraid to ask questions, because people may think that you are not intelligent.

Solution: Do not, I repeat, do not ever think it’s stupid or dumb to ask any question or ask for clarification on a subject, this was a huge barrier for me and when I became more confident asking questions the easier it became and the more I learned.

Barrier #4: I feel like I don’t belong.

Solution: Find other teenagers that have the same interests in school studies, hobbies and sports. When you can share similar activities with others you will be amazed what doors open up to long-lasting friendships.

Barrier #5: There is too much to do and not enough time to have fun.

Solution: Make time! Manage your calendar and set aside time every day for “me” time even if it’s only for an hour or two. If that is not working, ask for help from your parents or at school, you may need to cut back on one activity that will open up that free time which everyone needs.
