How to Make A Like Page on Facebook

A like page on Facebook is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to build interest, provide information and gain a following for anything you’re selling or promoting. With a Facebook personal or business account, you can publish your like page within minutes for everyone to see.

How to Make A Like Page

Simply click the “Create a Page” link found at the footer or bottom area of your Facebook account. This link can also be found at the sign up or log in page. Clicking the link will bring you to a page where you’ll be prompted to choose from six main categories: Local Business or Place; Company, Organization, or Institution; Brand or Product; Artist, Band or Public Figure; Entertainment; and Cause or Community.

Another click on any of these choices brings up a drop-down menu where you’ll be asked to choose a category for your like page, as well as one or more text fields where you can input the business or page name and other details. Finally, check the box that says you agree with Facebook Pages Terms before clicking the “Get Started” button. Of course, it’s always best to read the terms before proceeding so you get a clear idea of what you can and cannot do with your like page.

Getting Started

Clicking that “Get Started” button will create the page for you. But the work shouldn’t stop there as you still need to fill the page with content and images. Start by uploading the official profile picture for your like page. It may be your company logo, a product photo or a custom graphic or anything else you can think of, so long as it has a logical link to what your page is about. Remember that this photo has a prominent place at the left side of your page and will act as your avatar for every time you post anything on Facebook with that account so make sure that the image sticks.

With a great page profile photo, you can now move on to filling basic information. Click the “Edit Info” link with that little blue pencil on the top of the page to start filling in the details. You can be as specific as you want, although you should know that addresses will be visible to anyone who looks up this info, so only fill in information you’re willing to share.

Customizing Your Facebook Like Page

For most commercial or promotional uses, the basic features of a like page may not be enough. That’s why many opt to use Facebook-created, community-created or commercial apps and software to build more functionalities to a spare like page.

One of the key components of any like page is the creation of custom tabs for your content. Unfortunately, iFrame, the recently launched platform for creating custom tabs requires setting up your own Facebook application which can be very confusing for those inexperienced with coding. Alternatively, you can choose from several applications that offer templates for iFrame tabs which you can simply copy and paste in to your page.

But if there’s a custom tab that you absolutely must add to your like page, it would have to be a “Reveal” tab. It’s a powerful way to tease your page content to non-fans by asking them to hit the like button to access the rest of your page or even a freebie – an ebook, report, video or some other interesting content. As you know, liking a page gets automatically published on their news feed for their friends to see, making it an organic way to build your fanbase.
