Average Cost to Open a Restaurant: How to Lower the Price

There are many reasons why average people opt to dine out in restaurants-for socialization or business purposes, to try out new food, to accommodate their busy lifestyles which makes it impossible to cook food at home, or just plain to splurge the money that they earned.

Food is at the top of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, summarized as food, clothing, shelter and self-actualization. This would make it seem like losing money in the food service business is very unlikely. But this isn’t so. Careful business preparation is needed to make this investment profitable and one way to do so would be to lower the average cost to open a restaurant.

A businessman who wants to open a restaurant business should keep in mind demand and supply. Various aspects of the business plan, if worked out properly, can help the business owner achieve lower costs in opening a restaurant.

Pick a Business Theme

Deciding on the business theme will help eliminate impulse-buying of kitchen, equipment and dining furnishings. Streamline your design by making sure that the interior decoration of the premises is consistent with the restaurant theme. Purchase of tables, chairs, plates, trays, glassware, flatware and other silverware should support this image.

Location, Location, Location

The major costs in opening a restaurant business would be the location and structure. This will include the purchase or leasing of land and the construction of the establishment according to the business theme. Because of the huge expenses involved in constructing a business space, most business owners opt to lease instead of buying a property.

Food is Priority

Some make the mistake of spending too much on the appearance of the restaurant. The objective of the food service business is creating great food, thus priority should be given to purchasing cooking and baking equipment, designing fresh and dried food storage, creating a menu and cost effective pricing of each food offered, and selecting a team of expert cooks and bakers. Also included in the costs are dishwashers and proper, efficient and sanitary garbage disposal.

Apt Manpower

One of the main items that make up the costs in opening a restaurant is the manpower. You should consider manpower expenses for each restaurant activity – marketing, cooking, serving, cleaning, cashiering and accounting for all business activities. Innovations in food service are sprouting up everywhere with minimal manpower costs. The success of the Asian manner of serving food such as buffet style and self-service in Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai or Vietnamese restaurants are examples of these.

Promotion and Advertising Expenses

For a successful opening day, set aside money for promotion and advertisement expenses. Print out posters and flyers where your restaurant name and menu are written. To be able to advertise yourself properly, you should know what your “hook” is, or the strength of your business which you will highlight as a strong selling point. This can be the one-of-a-kind food, the alternative service routine, or simply great company. The current trend of going online to promote the food business has created a unique and cost-effective space for advertising.

A thorough and cohesive business plan makes for a great restaurant in terms of overall design, food, and service. Ultimately, a good plan means lower costs in opening a restaurant. A great start is always a good sign for any business.

Survival Tips – The Best Emergency Food Kit

Who Needs The Best Emergency Food Kit?

Who knows what the future holds? If only we knew, day to day, what challenges would arise, we would never be caught unawares. Unfortunately, life just doesn’t work that way. Those who prefer to look forward and make preparations for the “just in case” scenarios are often painted as fringe lunatics and doomsday preppers. However, assembling the best emergency food kit for yourself or your family should be something every responsible adult takes seriously. Just a few of the “normal” situations that could arise, when having emergency rations for your family would make sense, include: loss of a job, temporary lay off, extended storm damage or power outage that traps your family at home. Or perhaps you’d just like to be a position to help another family in need, should the opportunity arise. Then there are Armageddon type scenarios that plague the mind of some, and no better way to put those fears to rest than to look ahead and prepare for the worst. Whatever your reasons for looking forward and setting up emergency rations against a difficult time ahead, we are here to help you build the very best emergency food kit for your family.

Identifying Your Needs

First, lay out your preparation strategy. If you’re just getting started in emergency preparation, you may not have more than a day or two worth of food in your cupboard. If that’s the case, building up a thirty day supply of food is a good place to start. If you already have 30 days of emergency rations laid by, the next step may be building up a six month or year emergency food kit. The important thing is to start somewhere, and build your supplies up until you’ve assembled the best emergency food kit that you’re able.

Who Are You Feeding?

Do you have children in the house? Teens? Older or elderly adults? Infants will require special feeding accommodations like milk or formula, while the elderly may have some unique nutritional needs, as well. Map out on paper who you’re building a food supply for and any special things you need to prepare for them, or for yourself. Then consider what it takes to feed that person for a single day.

How Many?

Once you’ve written down what it takes to feed one person for one day, you’ll need to multiply that by the number of people, and the number of days for which you’re preparing.

What Do They Like To Eat?

There’s no need to live for a month on nothing but rice and beans. You don’t want to stock up on three months worth of food that your family won’t touch with a six-foot pole, just because it was cheap. It may keep you alive in a pinch, but you want to enjoy it, if possible. So take the likes and dislikes into consideration as you plan. Don’t forget to consider food allergies, as well. In an emergency situation, you wouldn’t want to face an allergic reaction from cross contamination, so better to avoid problem foods altogether, if possible.

Types Of Emergency Rations

There are dozens of ways to build up a great emergency food kit. The easiest, though certainly not the least expensive, is to invest in commercially prepared emergency rations, offered by various companies. These kits come as single servings, or a month’s worth of food for a single person. There are dozens of options to choose from.

Another method, requiring a little planning and management, is to simply take what you buy and use on a weekly basis, and start building up a supply that will last. If you ordinarily use three cans of beans and two boxes of mac ‘n’ cheese and a jar of peanut butter each week, then begin buying double that, and set the extra aside for your emergency food kit. Then manage your stock by rotating it so that your food stays as fresh as possible. Freshness would be a significant advantage in a long-term disaster, where you’re relying on your emergency rations for months, or even years.

Once you’ve built up a few months supply of food, organize your cans and boxes with the soonest expiration date in the front and the furthest out in the back. Then, when you do your grocery shopping, put the new stuff in the back and use from the front. This keeps your stock fresh and ready to use if and when the need arises.

Home canning is another less expensive way to build up your emergency food kit. Canning is becoming a lost art, so if you’re not familiar with how to do it, you’re not alone. Canning food in glass jars requires a little learning and effort but can allow you to preserve tasty, homemade food for years. Be sure to learn which foods require pressure cooking versus water-bathing methods of preservation. Properly canned goods keep best in cool, dark places between 50 and 70 *F (10 – 21 *C) and are safe to eat for years after canning.

For bulk dry goods that are intended for long term storage, wheat, beans, rice, sugar and other dry goods can be vacuum sealed and stored in five gallon buckets with O2 absorbers to last for thirty years and more. For the truly prepared minded, a few buckets of wheat and corn will go a long way toward peace of mind.

A vacuum sealer is a good investment for anyone serious about their emergency rations. Sealing foods in smaller quantities not only preserves them longer but allows you to use them a little at a time, rather than having to use a large container up quickly once you’ve opened it.

If you’re worried about the expiration date on store-bought canned goods, keep this story in mind. A steamboat named the Bertrand was trying to reach Montana in 1865 when it sunk to the bottom of the Missouri river. One hundred years later, canned goods from that wreck were recovered. In 1974, 109 years after the accident, the food was tested by chemists and found safe to eat. You should use good sense when eating canned foods that have passed their expiration dates. If it looks odd, smells bad or tastes bad, don’t eat it!

Signs That The Food In Your Emergency Food Kit Has Gone Bad

Signs canned goods have gone bad: the can is bulging, or the lid has come unsealed. Check for mold or fermentation bubbles in the liquid. If the food rushes out of the can or jar when you open it, there is pressure on the contents that wasn’t there when the can or jar was sealed. This is a good indication of bacterial activity causing a chemical reaction.

Comfort Foods

Once you’ve established a good base for emergency rations, you might want to start thinking about adding some comfort foods to your store. In stressful situations, we all turn to food for comfort, and yummy food might not be easy to come by in the event of a disaster. Some things to store include:

  • Chocolate – powdered cocoa keeps the best, but chocolate bars over 70% cocoa will keep for several months, and much longer if frozen. Hot chocolate mix has a shelf life of several years, and could easily be added to the rotation of your emergency food kit.
  • Mac n’ cheese – Best preserved dried by separating the noodles and cheese, and then vacuum sealing them with O2 absorbers. If you’re worried about being able to cook macaroni and cheese, it can be canned, but it won’t have the same texture as freshly made. Under cooking the noodles before canning will help it to be less mushy.
  • Honey – made with natural preservatives, honey will keep indefinitely, as long as water never gets near it. Store in very clean, very dry glass jars. If it crystallizes, you can return it to its liquid state with a little heat.
  • Freeze dried fruit or dehydrated fruit can be a great energy booster and will keep well when stored properly.
  • Hard candy – store with desiccants and vacuum sealing to provide a much needed pick me up under stressful conditions.
  • Coconut oil, especially virgin coconut oil will store for a very long time and provide added fat for comforting recipes when butter isn’t available.
  • Spices – if you get to a place where you’re having to make all of your food from what you have on hand, you’ll be very glad for some extra spices to… well… spice things up.
  • Alcohol – Obviously, a comforting item, but it serves many purposes in a disaster scenario and it keeps well. High alcohol content (over 20%) will keep the longest and over 40% can serve as a disinfectant if needed.
  • Tea – keeps well without special accommodations. To keep it the very freshest, store in small quantities with an O2 absorber.
  • Coffee – For those who really need their cuppa to keep their chin up, coffee will be an important part of the very best emergency food kit. Roasted coffee keeps, vacuum sealed in Mylar bags, for up to two years. If you rotate it through your emergency rations, you will have good coffee for some time. For preparation beyond that, you can store green coffee beans in Mylar bags with O2 absorbers, then roast and grind them as needed.

What To Choose?

How to decide what goes into the very best emergency food kit? A good rule of thumb is six months to a year of food that you would eat every day. This is easily managed through good shopping and rotation. For preparation beyond that time frame, vacuum sealed Mylar bags will keep dry goods for years. Many companies and even faith-based family preparation programs offer dry goods preserved in #10 cans that will keep up to 30 years. Building an emergency food kit that can last several years in a pinch is possible, with planning and forethought.

Water will be critical to surviving certain types of disaster scenarios. When planning for emergency situations, one liter of water per person per day is a good starting point. You’ll need some extra for sanitation and cooking, as well. Be sure you have plenty of water on hand, or a way to obtain water and sanitize it. Sanitation tablets and filtration systems would be a major component of the best emergency food kit.

Looking Ahead

For total preparedness, it’s important to think ahead to food preparation during an emergency. If the power was out for three weeks, how would you cook that mac ‘n’ cheese you took such care to store? Even if you have a power generator for emergencies, stoves and microwaves pull too much energy to use the generator for cooking. A propane or butane camp stove with plenty of fuel cells, or a propane or charcoal grill are great options to have on hand. And don’t forget to include a manual can opener in your emergency food kit.

Where To Keep It?

Storage space can be tricky, depending on your housing situation. If at all possible, you’ll want to designate a neatly organized room that’s specifically for food storage. You’ll label your shelves, and keep things nicely stocked and rotated. If you don’t live in this kind of fairy tale situation, you may have to get a little more creative about how you store your emergency food kit. A lot of food can be neatly stored, in cardboard boxes, under beds, in the bottoms or tops of closets, and under the stairs. You may need to reduce unnecessary clutter, to make room for emergency rations. The reward will be worth the effort.

Be Prepared, Not Scared

Taking the steps required to create the best emergency food kit that you possibly can will pay off in peace of mind. To know that you have the ability to care for those you love, and to be able to reach out to those around you in their time of need, will put you in a category reserved for just a few. You’ll rest easy at night, knowing that whatever tomorrow holds, your family is provided for.

Event Planning – Throw an Event That Will Be the Talk of the Town

When planning an event, you must think about if you need centerpieces. Personally, centerpieces are one of my favorite parts of an event. They can be big, small, quaint, or flashy. Centerpieces can really add something to the event and make it look complete. There are some things to think about though. You do not want to make a centerpiece too tall that you can not see through at a social event. One time, we were planning a Christmas banquet and we thought it would be a great idea to use mini Christmas trees as the centerpieces, though we were wrong. The trees were too thick to see the people across the table, so the guests took the trees off of the tables. Talk about a centerpiece disaster. Another time, we planned centerpieces that had big, tall brushes painted silver. These worked out fine because the branches were not too flourished. You really have to think about the setting and events happening at your event when planning centerpieces, otherwise they can hinder the success of your event.

Invitations are not as simple as they appear to be. Invitations are the very first impression you make on your guests. You make the first impression completely without even seeing them and weeks in advance. Your invitation sets the tone for the event. Your guests get a feel for the event before attending.

How soon should you send them out you ask? If planning for a wedding, it is recommended you send them out 8 weeks before the wedding. If planning a party, it is recommended you send them out 3-6 weeks before the event depending on the specifics. Make sure you give people enough time to plan. Make sure to include all important event info, as well. Who, what, when, where, why, what to wear, and how to RSVP.

Get creative with your invitations! Personally I love invitations that are an actual object to be used. Maybe you make a mixed CD of your favorite songs and send that as an invite? When I was a kid, my mom always had the coolest invitations for my birthday parties. One time she laced shoe laces up a paper roller skate for a skating party. Another time she wrote all of the party info on a beach ball for a pool party. Your invitations do not just have to be paper sheets. Think outside of the box! It will also make your guests more interested and excited to come.

Some people argue that the best part of any event is the food. When choosing food for your event, you really need to think about the audience you're catering to.

Are you planning a kids or family event? Pizza is always a safe option for kids. Most children like pizza and it is easy for you. Planning an event for college students? College students just like free food. You're pretty safe with anything. As for adults, it depends on the formality of the event? A black tie affair, then of course you will have a course meal. A wedding? It's up to the couple if they'd rather go the buffet route or the plated meal route.

You also have to decide whether you want your event catered or if you will make the food in house. Of course this depends on the size of your event. The bigger the event, the more food you need, the more likely it's better to have it catered. A smaller party could be taken care of in house.

Overall, the food should be a high priority on your planning list. People love food and expect it to be delicious.

Your venue truly depends on what type of event you're having. A wedding? Your options are very very broad. A corporate meeting? Your options are a little more narrow. Maybe you're just throwing a party? You can really choose wherever fits your theme. Your venue sets the tone of the event.

Venue options include:

Conference center

Banquet hall

Outdoor event space

Meeting center

Your options are really endless, but you need to put some thought into the feel you are trying to go for. You also will always want to have a back up plan for outside events. Maybe you'll want to hand out fans if it's hot outside? Or maybe you'll have covered awnings in case it rains? Whatever the case may be hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

Decorations can change the feel of the entire event. Your decorations can make or break the event. But remember sometimes less is more as well, so do not think that you have to use a million different things. Also the type of event you're planning may not need decorations. Evaluate the type of event you're having and the level in which you want to decorate to. Good luck and happy decorating!

Follow these guidelines and your event is sure to be a hit!

What A Night

In researching the recess of my memory it was in the spring of ’83 that I experienced what The Four Seasons sang about in their hit “Oh! What A Night” When in the opening lyrics of that hit instead of back in December of ’63 Oh! what a night for me was that night back in ’83. That night especially was a very special time for me. And, as the lyrics go as I remember what a night it was for me. I didn’t even know her name when she waltzed up to the bar at the Gold Room. I knew then things were never going to be the same. What a lady and what a night it turned out to be.

For all things that happen in life there are a few instances when a chance encounter abruptly changes the direction of ones life. Was it love at first sight or was just a passing fling? I got a feeling when she walked into the room. But, when she walked up to that bar I knew right then I would never be the same. The infectious smile as she turned toward me completely mesmerized me. It was like I was in a trance. All I could do when she walked up to me was realize she was everything I dreamed she’d be. And as the lyrics go “Sweet surrender what a night. I felt a rush like a rollin’ ball of thunder spinning my head around taking my body under.”

Her smile was immediate as we both caught each others eye. Out of the blue I offered to pay for the drinks she was ordering for her friends. Right then and there it seemed so right. What a lady and what a night it really turned out to be. As I recall that night ended much too soon. Through-out that night we danced so close her breath was intoxicating so warm and sweet. But, as last call came around we knew our lives were never going to be the same.

As she left a sweet sensation swept all over me. Latter that night as I drifted off to sleep she was all I could think of. What a lady and what a night it really was for her and for me. By early next morning the rush of passion never did subside. Eagerly I called to again here her sweet voice. And, by the following weekend I was welcomed into an extended family knowing that our lives would be forever changed. That sparkle in her eyes when we first met never did waver, never did dim.

For over four years through the good and the bad the love that we shared came to a tragic end. I knew from the beginning that I may have come into her life just a little too late to ease the burden of an uneasy life. As the illness progressed I knew that all good things must end. Now, some 30 years latter after her passing the lessons of her life that she passed on to me has stayed as fresh as the days we were together. Through-out all these years she is the one that shaped the person I came to be. The ease of her demure, her gentle ways eased the roughness of my uncharacteristic ways. So that now I had mellowed to the point where anger is tempered. All because of the love that she gave to me.

As her children are all grown now with kids and grad kids of their own it is only fitting to keep alive the memory of what a lady and what a first night it was for me. Remembering back it was such an a thrill to have experienced a once in a lifetime romance that blossomed out of a chance meeting in what is always remembered as what a lady and what a night it really turned out to be.

Step by Step Female Orgasm Techniques

Shocking fact: 70% of females never have an orgasm during sexual intervention.

Yep, it's true.

Furthermore, about a third of all females anywhere have never had an orgasm, EVER.

Again, that's 100% FACT.

There are multiple reasons why this may be the case, and every female has a different set of circumstances for why they have never had an orgasm. Some of them are quite different and require counseling or medical intervention, such as a history of sexual abuse, or the extremely rare cases of women who can not orgasm based on medical problems.

However, for most women, the reason they have never orgasmed is very simple – they just have not met a man who can help them reach the "big O".

The reality is that women love sex. Way more than any guy ever could. Think about it. If you had ten THOUSAND times the amount of touch receptors in your skin, as well as the ability to have multiple orgasms all night long, do not you think sex would be better for you too?

However, women usually need a man who can lead them to orgasm. They've been told all their life that it's "dirty" or "slutty" or "wrong" to be forward at all in the areas of romance and sex. It's always the guy who has to go over and talk to her, the guy who has to get her number, the guy who has to initiate the sex. In the same way, it's the guy who has to help them reach orgasm.

So how does this relate to you?

It's simple. You need to take control of her sexual pleasure. That's not to say that she should just lay there and do nothing – in fact, that's a really quick recipe for disaster – but rather that you have to take the initiative during your sexual activiites.

Whilst whole ebooks can be (and have been) written on the subject of pleasing a woman during sex, I've written one myself in fact, which you can check out by clicking on the link in my author bio.

Having said that, in the space of this article, I will at least try to give you some really cool step by step female orgasm techniques, so here we go:

1. Build Sexual Tension / Attraction

You need to build attraction and sexual tension before you even start getting down to things. Women are very perceptive creatures and often know a lot more about us than we like. The way you think about yourself, the way you dress, the aftershave you are wearing, and so on all contribute to how this woman feels about you. And to be really, really good at making her feel really, really good, you need to build a strong attraction SEXUALLY. This is important because many women do not think about sex in the same way we do – they will sleep with someone because they "like" him, but because they're "attracted" to him sexually, probably largely because most women have not ' T gotten in touch with that really sexual part of themselves yet.

Exactly HOW to go about creating that sexual attraction is a subject all in its own, and it can be very hard to describe on paper. The best advice I can give you in such a short space is to believe you are desirable and sexy. That will project to her through thousands of subconscious signals and she will pick up on it. If you try and walk the walk without having the mental attitude to back it up, you'll just put the cart before the horse – and she'll see right through you.

2. Get Her To Relax

One of the largest factors in women not being able to orgasm is that they're not relaxed. During sex they're worried that their hair is bad, they are ugly, the lighting makes them look bad, their stomach looks big from that angle … whatever. It may be hard for us to understand, but it does happen.

The best way to combat this is to get her to relax and to feel comfortable around you. Try joking around with her, putting her at ease, all that sort of stuff. In addition, if you find she's tense, just focus on doing something that makes her feel good that is not necessarily sexual – massages are fantastic for this purpose, but there's a lot of other things that can work really well too – like just talking To her.

3. Be In The Driver's Seat

As we have discussed, most women will not advance things out of fear of seeming too "forward". So that means its up to you to take things to their natural conclusion. During each stage of the sexual process, from building tension, to light foreplay, to heavy foreplay, to the actual sex, you will need to guide her through each of these stages. Be firm but gentle, and if she says "no", then listen to her and stop. If she does not, however, take that as a green light to keep going.

4. Take Your Time

Nothing is more of a deal-breaker for a girl's orgasm than a guy who just wants to get naked and play "hide the sausage". You need to be more concerned with every single thing you are doing making her feel really, really good. Every part of a girl's body is very sensitive and receptive to any touch you might want to bestow upon it, so have fun. Nibble on her earlobes. Run your hands all over her body. Talk dirty to her (but not too dirty, keep it tame at first). Run your tongue over all the parts of her body that you are willing to. All these things help gradually build her into a sexually receptive mindset, which is when you can begin to really make her feel good.

5. Foreplay is Important

Once she's really starting to get horny – for example, she's breathing heavy, moaning a bit, you're both naked, and her vagina is wet and probably a little red and swollen – it's time to start making her feel good. Begin with some more "heavy" foreplay. Try fingering her or, if you and her are comfortable with it, going down on her. Do not stop until she's either had an orgasm (preferably more than one) or she just can not take it anymore and has to jump you.

You will find, at this point, that giving her orgasms is probably very easy, provided you pay attention to what she likes and what she does not and usefully use the clit and her G-Spot. These issues are, obviously, far too detailed ot be written in this article, but my e-book does include a thorough analysis of how to make her feel really good using these two areas (and everything else, for that matter).

As you may have noticed, an orgasm is the end result of a long result of effort applied in the right way. It takes work and preparation, but with the correct knowledge, you can easily give any woman an orgasm any time she wants one, in any position. The frequency and power of those orgasms will certainly increase with your skills improving, however, and that's why I recommend you seek out ways to further improve your knowledge – and then put it to the test. I'm sure she will not mind.

The 3C’s and 4P’s of Outdoor Marketing

When I was working on my MBA, I took a very insightful class called Marketing Strategy that drilled the concept of the 3C’s and 4P’s into my brain. If you have not heard of this marketing concept, briefly reviewed, it is understanding your Customer and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of your Competition and your Company, then taking this knowledge and adjusting your Price, Product, Place of distribution and type of Promotion to maximize your sales and profitability.

When I started my own company, I sought to take this concept a step further and applying its principles to Outdoor Marketing.

Applying this principle to outdoor marketing requires different thought than developing a TV or radio spot then deciding on which stations to play it. For instance, you must understand where does your customers travel, shop, work, eat and enjoy life outside of the home? Moreover, what are their likes and dislikes? You must truly get to know your customers because this information will be crucial in your outdoor marketing efforts and specifically in determining exactly where to place your ads.

You are not the only one who wants your potential customers. Undoubtedly, you have competition. To effectively communicate to those customers, you will need to differentiate your company from your competition and focus on your strengths and on their weaknesses. Furthermore, be sure to expand your idea of competition. You not only have direct competitors (i.e. Ford dealership vs. Toyota dealership), but you also have indirect competitors (i.e. Ford dealership vs. Mass Transit). Broaden your horizon and give adequate thought as to their strengths and weaknesses.

Think like a consumer. If you understand your customers, you will know where to advertise to reach them and your competition may not. Don’t be afraid to directly compare your strengths to their weaknesses in your outdoor advertising. Make your competitors defend themselves. The business arena is not the place to play nice guy.

First and foremost list what your company can do well and, more importantly, what it cannot. It is quite painful to admit that you do not excel in all areas of your business but it is better to understand it now and not misstep and let your customers down by promoting something that you can’t delivery on.

Once you have this list, can you effectively communicate what your company does utilizing outdoor media? Can you get across your primary focus and your main strengths? Can you make it simple enough? Focus on your top two strengths that intersect with the top wants of your target customers and place your ads where they frequent. Furthermore, depending on what you want to communicate, you will need to choose the appropriate outdoor media of which there are many.

If your company cannot afford to advertise on traditional billboards, which can average $2,000 per month for a major highway billboard, then you should look into other forms of outdoor and out-of-home media. You can advertise at bus stops, in malls, on diner placemats, and of course my favorite, on receptacles. The price for this media can range anywhere from $50 to $500 per month depending on which you choose and where they are located.

If you are a smaller company with a small budget for advertising, alternative out-of-home media, as opposed to the traditional highway billboard, will be most effective for you. You will not be able to take the shotgun approach and advertise everywhere. You will have to be more like a sniper and target your customers (not literally, of course) using the information you’ve gathered when analyzing your customers.

Where you advertise will be dictated by how you analyzed your target customer. Thus it is vitally important to truly understand your customer otherwise you could develop a fantastic message that falls on deaf ears. If your target customers are college students, you should place your message around bookstores, coffee shops, bars, and late night eateries. If your target customers are professionals, then you should place your ads on mass transit, highways into town, bus stops, and lunch-time eateries. If your target customers are stay-at-home moms, you should place your ads in malls, shopping centers, and grocery stores. Take note of your best customers and you’ll know exactly where to place your ads.

Your product will most likely have many features. Depending on where you are advertising and which segments of your customer base will see your message, you will want to showcase different features of your product or service. If your message is in an upscale part of town, you will want to focus on your service and how you are customer-oriented. If you are placing your message in a lower-scale section of town, then you’ll want to focus on value and your guarantee.

In promoting or advertising your product or service, you can choose many avenues. The most common form that is most prominent is, of course, the television commercial. However, internet advertising has become extremely popular since most people now have access to it.

While both have the advantage of wide reach, television advertising is very expensive and internet ads can get lost in the thousands of ads that are there. The best scenario is a complete marketing campaign that includes out-of-home media. Why? Because out-of-home media can help to reinforce your existing message and you can also talk to consumers when they are out trying to make their purchase decision. With a properly placed message, you can directly influence that decision. You can place your ad near the place of business of your largest competitor. You can also place your ad near a synergistic business (i.e. if you are a tailor, you could place an ad near a fabric store). Out-of-home media provides much latitude to what you want to say to whom and when.

And do not limit yourself to thinking that out-of-home media, and more specifically outdoor media, is only billboards. There are a myriad of alternative outdoor mediums that target pedestrian traffic. Through such media, you can have a more robust outdoor ad because pedestrian foot traffic is slow and unlike a moving vehicle on the highway, if a pedestrian wants to read your ad, he or she can simply stop walking and take notice. You can also better target your message to consumers who will be most receptive to it because everyone goes somewhere at sometime. Your job is to learn this information about your customers and place your ad there through ubiquitous advertising tools such as the AshCan.

In summary, following the above steps will aid you in better understanding your business, its strengths and weaknesses and how to sell your strengths to the appropriate consumers at the right place with the right message.

Always consider out-of-home media as you can narrowly target your best potential customers and not spend a fortune doing it.

Remember, think like the big guys and perform with the nimbleness and friendliness of a little guy and you cannot go wrong.

1/3 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)

1/2 cup chopped spinach (palak)

3 green chillies, finely chopped

Juice of 1 lemon and 1 tbsp warm oil

Salt to taste

Other ingredients

2 1/2 tsp oil for cooking

The next recipe in nutritious recipes for Pregnancy is Groundnut Tikkis (cutlet).

I know you all love cutlets, so do I.

Let’s check out the ingredients.

Groundnuts, these should be roasted and coarsely grounded.

The second ingredient is half a cup of Bengal gram flour.

Then we have half cup of whole wheat flour and half cup of chopped spinach.

3 to 4 chopped green chillies.

Bit of lemon juice, salt to taste. And oil.

First, take a nice, clean bowl.

Mix in all the ingredients. Bengal gram flour, whole wheat flour which is called ‘Atta’, chopped spinach, green chillies, juice of 1 lemon, bit of salt according to your taste.

We have to make soft and smooth dough out of it. So we’ll add in a little water.

Once the dough is ready, add in some oil.

Then we can knead the dough again.

When the dough is ready, it would look smooth and glossy.

Now we will make cutlets out of it.

Make balls out of it. Roll it and flatten it.

Now we will fry these cutlets one by one, while the golden brown color doesn’t appear.

Let’s take some oil in a pan. Spread it evenly.

When it heats up, put in the cutlets, one by one.

Fry it till it turns golden brown from both sides.

Our cutlets are almost done.

Switch off the gas.

Now we can take the tikkis one by one on a plate which has a tissue paper placed on top of it.

Tissue paper will absorb the excess oil if any.

The groundnut tikkis are now ready.

Five Secrets to a Great Cinema Dining Experience

The idea of a ‘cinema brewery’ seems almost too alien to define. In many respects, combining good beer with a good movie makes sense. Kicking back with a cold one while digging a good flick is what life’s all about. The zaniness comes with taking this comfortable ‘home’ activity and turning it into an enterprise. Nonetheless, the cinema brewery/dine-in theater experience is one that has caught fire in recent years & become a major trend in the movie-watching business.

As with any cool idea, there are ways to make it even cooler, as well as ways to make it a total bust. Rather than lose focus with the latter, it’s the former that is where “it’s” at for sure.

Here are five secret (but not secret ways) to have a great cinema dining experience, especially if it’s your first time:

1. Think “Good Movie” The Whole Time – Even if you aren’t a movie buff, you watch enough commercials & movie promos to know what may or may not interest you. Trust your gut & choose a movie you actually might enjoy & are looking forward to watching. Engaging in the cinema dining experience means really trying to enjoy all facets of the process.

2. Call Ahead for Help – This seems a little wacky, but there once was a time when people used their phones to talk to people in other locations. Weird, huh? If you’re not sure how things work at a dine-in theater type setting, call the theater & ask for a mini crash-course on how it all goes down. Don’t think of it as being nerdy or uncool – think of it as good prep-work for a hassle-free time.

3. Arrive Early – In the same vein of being a proactive cinema brewery diner, you want to try arriving a little early to the showtime of your chosen movie. This way, you can get a little bit of a breakdown of everything, and in some cases, you may decide that you’ll need to call an audible regarding the movie you wanted to watch or the type of dining you’ll be taking in.

4. Avoid Opening Day – If this were a baseball game, sure, ‘Opening Day’ is what it’s all about. When it comes to seeing a movie on its official release date, though, you might be asking for some serious activity. Depending on the amount of action you’re looking to get yourself into, this may either be good or bad. If the crowd is especially large, though, it can cause some lag-time in your dine-in theater experience. No one likes to wait too long for a meal or a cold brew.

5. Use the Internet for Good – You’ve decided which dine-in theater you’ll be checking out, so why not use their website & social media presence to help guide you through showtimes, menu options, and considering you’re partaking in the cinema ‘brewery’ thing, you’ll also be able to check out the beer options they’ll have available.

Make your next movie-going adventure be a memorable one by getting on the cinema brewery train.

Why is it So Critical For Solo-Professionals to Ask For Support

“Anyone who works as a solo professional needs a lot of support”, a

fellow coach said to me recently. I couldn’t agree more. Any time you

are working by yourself it is isolating. How do you find what you need

to do your best work?

As a solo no one will hand you the resources you need. That is a task you must do for yourself. What kind of support do you want?

My coach friend was talking about people. She had a really good Mastermind Group that nurtured her and supported her. If you don’t have a team or colleagues to bounce ideas off of whom do you have? Is there someone you can call to discuss your plan for your business?

A Mastermind Group is ideal. Being a part of one gives you a safe place to discuss your business and ask your Mastermind colleagues what to do. Brainstorming many options is part of what makes a Mastermind Group useful. My group meets by telephone every week. Some groups meet face

to face. The members decide on the frequency, length of the meeting, the agenda and purpose for the group.

Another way that solo professionals get help is to put together an advisory panel and meet with them as a group or separately. You might have your lawyer, your accountant, your coach or consultant and others on the panel. Again they give you the kind of support you ask for.

Now here is what I see as ironic (at least for me). Many of us who chose to work solo chose it because we were tired of working for someone else and having them direct us. I know after working for almost 15 years at AT&T I was weary of following managers’ suggestions. I had other ideas that I never got to try! So in my own business I wanted to do it alone (no advice).

After trying it my way for a while however, I soon learned the benefit of support. That is why I hired a coach and joined a Mastermind group. Old habits die hard however and I still have the tendency to do it myself for too long. What about you?

Support also means delegating some of your work to others i.e. a bookkeeper, a marketing expert, a web designer etc. Many solo professionals think that they can do it all. It is particularly difficult to delegate when you are first starting and have little income.

It is an easy excuse though to say, “I can’t afford to hire someone.” The time it takes you to learn the job of an expert could be better spent doing the work you started your business for (law, coaching, accounting etc.). Do the things that you are good and that you enjoy. Hire someone else to do the rest. If you do this successfully, there will be money to pay for the expert and time to do even more marketing.

Support can come in many forms. It is the people you hire, the software you use, the equipment you choose, the systems you put in place and/or the colleagues and vendors you refer to. All these resources are necessary in any business. For solos they are critical.

Take action:

1. Make a list of the people that support you? Where else could you use support? Make a commitment to find that support by a particular date.

2. What other kind of resources do you need? Make a list of these and a plan to acquire them.

3. Napoleon Hill wrote about Mastermind Groups in the book “Think and Grow Rich”. This book is a classic.

4. One free source of support for businesses is SCORE. SCORE is part of the SBA. The business counselors that are part of SCORE (score.org) have real business experience. I am a SCORE business counselor.

Tips on How to Maintain Your Budgeting Plans

The importance of budgeting for every financial plan is not really a subject for debate. If you want to have a successful financial plan, then an effective budgeting strategy is more than necessary. Whether if you are earning six-figures a year or someone who is living from paycheck to paycheck, it is still necessary that you know where you can allocate your financial resources if you really want to take control of your finances. Many people are still apprehensive when it comes to the idea of budgeting because they are thinking that budgeting puts restrictions into how and where do they get to spend their money and taking out all the fun in life. But that is not the case at all, budgeting is all about having a sound financial plan so you can have control as to where your money goes and planning the best way to spend that money.

At first, creating a budget may seem to be a huge chore, especially if you are pretty satisfied with how you deal with your finances. But if you just take time to create a budget plan, you will be pleasantly surprised at just how valuable it can be. Through budgeting, you will be able to accurately keep track as to where you are spending your money. This way if you have a certain financial goal in mind, you will be able to accurately gauge just how close you are into reaching your goals, and thus you can take the proper course of action with regards to this matter.

Creating an effective budget plan is not that hard at all, but the tricky part comes into adhering to what sort of budget plan that you have created. To be able to maintain your budgeting plans, you need to approach it with a positive attitude. There’s very little success to expect when you think of budgeting as a tedious activity or that you are making a huge sacrifice while doing it. If you want to be able to keep up with your budgeting plan you should think of all the positive effects that you can achieve. Like freedom from debt, save money for recreation or more savings for your retirement plans. You need to keep in mind your goals in order to keep yourself motivated.

Another thing that you need to keep in mind when maintaining a budget plan is to have realistic expectations. Avoid setting your expectations or goals too high because it can easily discourage you if you fail to fulfill them, and this is especially true when you have just started with your budget plan. If you are just starting with your budget plan, set a realistic yet fairly challenging goal and see if you can keep up with it or not. You can set your goal a little higher next time if you feel confident about it.

Being able to maintain your budget plans and accomplishing your goals is highly rewarding. So if you can keep yourself motivated to fulfill your goals, then you are on your way to budgeting success.

Famous Guitars: Gibson

When you think of guitars, even if you're not an avid player, a few names come to mind. There are Fender guitars and there are Gibson guitars. Fender got its start back in 1938 when they opened a radio repair store. It was not until 1954 though that the famous Fender Strat guitar hit the market. Gibson, on the other hand was established back in 1902 in Kalamazoo, Michigan by a man named Orville Gibson, and his start was not with fixing radios.

Orville started his company to produce mandolins. Back in 1898 he patented the first single piece mandolin that was durable and also able to be mass marketed. He began to sell his instruments in the late 1800's and ever came across a design for an arch top guitar, something that had not been seen before. By the 1930's the company were making flat top acoustic guitars as well as one of the first commercially available hollow body electric guitars to hit the market.

Sadly, Orville Gibson died a few years after his company was founded in 1902 but his legacy lives on to this day. It is this company, of course, that manufactures the ultra popular and iconic Gibson Les Paul, a guitar named after Les Paul, an influential musician in the 1950's. Today these guitars are still as legendary as ever and are highly collectible, which of course also means that they are widely imitated.

Today, through various deals and partnerships, Gibson also makes instruments under other brand names like Epiphone, Kramer, and Tobias to name a few. They also manufacture electronic products through household names like Philips and Pioneer.

Think a Gibson is just too expensive? Well, never fear as the company actually produces its own authorized copies of the successful guitar lines. While they do not have the famous Gibson logo, they are still crafted to their high standard and are more affordable than the main branded ones.

Many famous guitarists play Gibson guitars, but you do not have to be a highly paid rock star to do so. Those who like quality, history, the collectability factor and want to play like the pros can also get their hands on a Gibson and make beautiful music. Whether you are impressed with the Les Paul model or any of the others, Gibson has been known for generations as one of the best places to get a guitar. From humble beginnings great great things.

How to Plan For a Surprise Picnic Party

Planning a surprise party could be really challenging but setting up a surprise picnic party would be even more taxing since the activity will be held outdoors. No dimming of lights, no doors, and definitely no tables and rooms to hide yourself and the guests into. But a surprise picnic party would be a success if everything has been planned and taken cared of.

First, you need to make sure that the celebrant is appreciative of surprises and is willing to be caught off guard. Next, a date and venue should be selected. Ensure that the celebrant is available on the selected date and the venue is accessible to most visitors. Assign someone to invite the celebrant or plan a fake engagement so that the guest of honor would really be able to attend the surprise party.

Prepare the invitations and ensure that you give a clear instruction that the picnic party is a surprise. Indicate at least a 20-minute earlier meeting time so that the party guests will arrive earlier than the guest of honor. Designate a dress code so visitors would arrive in the perfect attire, especially because the party will be held outdoors and in the form of a picnic.

Arrive early and set-up the picnic area. Lay picnic sheets and prepare the food table, the barbeque grill, utensils and food. If you can decorate the trees with ribbons or lights, then it would be better. But since it will be an outdoor party, focus more on the food and activities rather than the décor and overall ambiance. The outdoor venue already has its natural beauty so you can altogether skip the decorating.

It is very important that you pack your picnic baskets with lots of food. You can share food too by asking the visitors to bring even a small basket of fruits. It is also important that you pack your picnic baskets with all the picnic essentials. Because you will be hosting a party for quite a large group, ensure that you do not forget to bring the food, utensils, cooking and cleaning materials, and the things you’ll need for the games. This ensures that everyone will have fun and the guest of honor and his or her visitors will enjoy the party.
