5 Fun Things to Do With Your Pillows

Everyone has pillows, but the question is what do you do with your pillows? Sure you can sleep on it like every one else in the world but what else do you do with your pillows? Decorate? Sit on them? Squeeze them between your legs? BORING! I’ve always wanted to know, “What can do with my pillows that are fun?” So I have come up with 5 fun things you can do with pillows.

1. If any of you have ever played the classic game “spoons” before then this game is for you! Today we are going to take spoons to the max with Ultimate Spoons! Rather than having the spoons sitting in front of you, collect all the pillows and blankets you can find and stash them in a pile. Then strategically hide the spoons through out the pile. When some one collects the necessary cards and shouts, “SPOONS!” Everyone dives in and wrestles to the death until all the spoons are found. Who ever is left with out a spoon is out!

2. Everyone likes to have a “good time” with that special some one and we all know that a little teasing never hurt in order to produce something frisky! Grab the softest pillow you can find, sneak up on your mate and snag him/her with the pillow. Before you know it she’ll be hittin’ on you and you will be in the middle of a sexy pillow fight which is bound to lead to something frisky with your lover.

3. Of Course there is the classic Pillows Fight, which everyone loves. Especially when having sleep overs. Gather all the pillows you can find in the house, grab time, set it, then start bashing the crap out of everyone you can until the time is up.

4. One day some buddies of mine and I went camping at a lodge which had TONS of mattresses and pillows as well as a little balcony that we could jump from. As we studied our surroundings the wheels in our brain started turning. And this is what we cam up with. Pile all the mattresses and pillows up to create a soft landing for your little tushy. Then Climb to the top of the leg and jump for it! The fall and super soft landing will create an adrenalin rush you just can’t get enough of.

5. And finally, have you ever had a bad day? Well hell, crab a crappy pillow that has feathers in it, crank up your favorite song and relieve some stress. Rip that pillow to shreds and let the feathers fly!!! Don’t you dare let one pillow stay in that pillow! Throw them every where, jump in them, toss them over your head and shout “yippee!” And before you know it, you will have forgot what it was you were mad about.

So what will it be? A frisky little something with that special someone? An adrenaline pumping game of Ultimate spoons? or perhaps just the classic pillow fight? The Choice is yours!

The Role and Place of Iridology in Conventional and Natural Medicine

Born a long time ago, Iridology has evolved and matured toward mainstream status in many countries. The contemporary Iridology profession is in the unique position of having blended the best from both natural and conventional medicine. At some point, Iridology could bridge conventional and complementary medicine. The iridologist’s scope of practice may include the suggestions to further medical check-ups such as laboratory tests, and precise MRI and CT scans which are extremely important in the conventional medicine field. On the other hand, Iridology is very useful for choosing the right healing modality, which is very important in the complementary medicine field.

Iridology has practically unlimited potential for screening of a large group of people for early signs of pathology or inherent weaknesses which could later manifest into well-developed diseases and disorders. This could save a tremendous amount of money currently being spent on treatment of chronic diseases in hospitals – diseases which became chronic simply because they have not been diagnosed and managed at the early stages of their development.

Iridology’s place in complementary medicine simply cannot be overstated. It’s obvious that before any naturopathic intervention, proper diagnosis should be made. And the diagnosis should not be “label-style” as is usually done in the conventional medicine field. It should involve the description of the inherent status of a specific organ, together with its circulation and nutrition level, and nerve supply. And when the healing program is finished, another iridological analysis can help to assess the success of the applied program.

Complementary medicine is being rapidly integrated into mainstream health care, largely in response to consumer demand, as well as in recognition of new research findings that are expanding our view of health care and healing. The same is true about Iridology. In the near future, a basic working knowledge of Iridology will be a requirement for primary care, family practice and general internal medicine, needless to say about complementary medicine modalities.

The goal of preventing disease is shared by complementary and mainstream medicine alike. Any prevention needs a proper assessment of the functional ability of the human body. And Iridology could play a pivotal role in this assessment, providing valuable information about organs and body systems to both complementary and conventional medicine providers.

Iridology as a quick, painless and cost-effective diagnostic method could easily be incorporated in any medical or naturopathic facility. This could be especially important for small rural hospitals and naturopathic cabinets with a lack of expensive diagnostic equipment.

The rapidly growing popularity of Iridology will help to incorporate this alternative diagnostic modality more deeply into the world of both conventional and complementary medicine in the future.

Ramayana By Valmiki Is Not Just A Legend

When we were children our noted film maker Mr. Ramanand Sagar launched his opus magnum Ramayana on Indian television and during those days color Television was a novelty in every household and, though under strict government control, the televisions had a limited number of channels. This teleserial was aired in the evening prime time slot and we clearly remember that we would not shift anywhere during that hour and would watch Ramayana with rapt attention. As a child I remember reading the unabridged Ramayana and it had taken me about a month to finish that epic. By the time I had reached the last chapters I had forgotten the intricate details of the earlier chapters.

Every Indian either living in India or anywhere else in this world knows about Ramayana and the Mahabharata. In India it is every fathers dream to have a son like Rama every brothers dream to have a brother like Lakshman, every wife's dream to have a husband like Rama. This epic or the Legend has a profound effect in the Indian psyche. The other great epic is Mahabharata, (about which I have written in my earlier article titled "Dwarka and Mahabharata") where there is a mention about Ramayana. Mahabharata was an event that had occurred about 5300 years BC which means about 7000years before present. Therefore Ramayana is an event which precedes Mahabharata and that would also mean that Ramayana is 7000 years before present.

Rich in its descriptions and poetic language, it consist of seven books or Kandas and 24,000 pairs and has been translated into many languages. The seven "kandas" of Ramayana are: "Bal Kanda", the boyhood section; "Ayodhya Kanda", Rama's life in Ayodhya, until his banishment; "Aranya Kanda", Rama's life in the forest and Sita's abduction by Ravana; "Kishkindha Kanda", Rama's stay at Kishkindha, the capital of his monkey ally, Sugriva; "Sundara Kanda", Rama's passage to Sri Lanka; "Yuddha Kanda" or "Lanka Kanda", Rama's battle with Ravana, the recovery of Sita, and return to Ayodhya; And "Uttara Kanda", the section narrating Rama's life in Ayodhya as king, the birth of his two sons, Sita's test of innocence and return to her mother, and Rama's demise or "jala samadhi". The Ramayana tells of the birth and education of RAMA, (qv), a prince and the seventh incarnation of the god VISHNU, (qv), and recounts his winning of the hand of Sita in marriage. Displaced as rightful heir to his father's throne, Rama goes into exile, accompanied by Sita and by his brother Lakshmana. Sita is carried off by the demon king Ravana. With the aid of the monkey general Hanuman and an army of monkeys and bears, Rama, after a long search, slays Ravana and rescues Sita. Rama regains his throne and rules wisely. In the probable addition, Sita is accused in rumors of adultery during her captivity. Although innocent, she bears Rama's twin sons in exile, sheltered by the hermit Valmiki, said to be the author of the poem. After many years Rama and Sita are reunited.

The first thing that sets us thinking about the legend, not being a legend but could be a true story is the fact that Ravana abducts sita and takes her in an aerial vehicle called the pushpak rath. Question is if we all say that this was a figment of Valmiki's imagination then how did Valmiki imagine a flying object which could transport humans over great distance? Imagining something which you have never seen before is impossible, and can not happen. Let us say that you are told to imagine a very ferocious and blood thirsty beast then we would probably put a face of a fire emanating dragon, as we have seen visuals of a dragon, then we would probably put a body of a tyrannosaurus as we Know and have seen tyrannosaurus. In short we have seen everything and we have taken parts of those to create a new thing. So Puspak rath was a type of an aerial vehicle and its mention in the epic, makes the epic something of a reality.

The second thing that comes to my mind is the very fact that the monkey soldiers had to built a bridge to connect the southern India with Lanka (In Ramayana Sri Lanka was known as Lanka) which means Sri Lanka was separated from the Indian subcontinent. Dr Glen Milne of Durham University is one of the world's leading expert in the cutting edge science of "inundation mapping". They use a very powerful computer program to calculate the complex variables to produce accurate models of ancient shorelines at a chosen date and a chosen locality. He has done a fantastic work on the Indian shoreline from 21300 years ago to 4800 years BC. One can see the comparative pictures in the book titled Underworld by Graham Hancock. Sri Lanka was attached with the Indian subcontinent till 10600 years before present. It completely separated from the Indian subcontinent by 4800 years BC. We know that Mahabharata was an event some 5300 BC ie 7000 Before present and Ramayana precedes Mahabharata therefore Ramayana could have occurred before 7000 years before present. Also to make a land bridge between India and Sri Lanka (between Gulf of Mannar and Palk Straight) was a daunting task as the length was 48 Km The Encyclopedia Britannica says it was once the world's largest tombolo? A sandbar connecting an island to another island or the mainland? The existence of the bridge obviously can not be denied! However to what extent there was manual intervention in connecting the gaps between the shoals, islands and rocks is a subject for detailed marine archaeological and geological research. This kind of research has never been carried out nor has any team been constituted so far. However, there is enough evidence about the existence as well as the use of this bridge in ancient Indian history, literature and travelogues etc.

Maharishi Valmiki has recorded in his Ramayan- (Yuudh Kand, sarg 22 and shlokas 45-73) that Shri Rama's army constructed a bridge over the sea between Rameswaram and Sri Lanka. Valmiki has narrated in detail that originally Shri Rama's army camped in Kodikarai but found that place unsuitable for constructing the bridge. Therefore, the entire army was shifted to Rameswaram. Research was carried out by Shri Ram for three days to find out a suitable location in the sea for constructing the land route so that the army could cross over to Sri Lanka. Finally, the suitable location was identified. Shri Nal was a famous shilpakar, who had the expertise similar to that of Vishwakarma in constructing the bridges, was asked to construct the bridge. (6/22/45).

After carrying out the survey, Nal declared that a bridge can indeed be constructed. The armymen of Shri Ram utilized various tools and implements for uprooting trees like Taar, coconut, mango, ashoka, bakul etc., and with the help of various yantras transported these trees, stones, and rocks to the seashore. Shilpakar Nal directed the armymen to stand with long routes / chains on either side and filled the space in between with creepers, trees, stones and rocks and bound them together. The construction of Ramsetu was completed in five days by connecting the existing land route consisting of islands, rocks and shoals. This bridge was being used as land route between India and Sri Lanka for thousands of years, although sometimes part of it was submerged under the seawater. King Asoka's son Mahendra and daughter Sanghamitra had used this bridge to go to Sri Lanka more than 2,300 years back.

The ancient Indians had an accurate method of time measurement. They regularly and systematically recorded the `tithis', days marked according to the phases of the Moon, the months, the seasons, solstices, equinoxes and the positions of astrologically relevant luminaries like the Sun, the Jupiter, the Venus, and so on. In other words, the timings of events were recorded in the astronomical format. To convert this coded information on heavenly positions into a simple calendrical timeline, all that is needed is a database of ephemeris. Sage Valmiki, the celebrated composer of the Ramayana records the birth of Rama in Uttarayana (the Divine Half-year), in the Chaitra month, in the bright fortnight, on the ninth day, in the Punarvasu nakshatra, on a Monday, and under Karka lagna. Valmiki further details the birth with various planetary positions in the zodiac: Sun in Mesha at 10 deg., Mars in Capricorn at 28 degree, Jupiter in Cancer at 5 deg., Venus in Pisces at 27 deg. And Saturn in Libra at 20 deg. These starry configurations are so unique that they have occurred only once so far in measurable history and this helps us to fix the important date, the birthday of Rama, as the 4th of December, 7323 BC. Due to the slow yet continuous precession of the Earth, Rama's birthday anniversary, celebrated as Ram Navami, has since shifted by about four months over a period of about 9300 years.

Valmiki further has beautifully described the sky (Ayodhya 41/10), when Rama left for forest exile. He states, "Crux (Trishankhu), Mars, Jupiter and Mercury have cornered the Moon." Vaishakha and Milky Way are shining in the sky. " Crux is on line with Hasta (Corvus) on the southern side. On the eastern side of Hasta, there are Chitra, Swati and Vishakha. As seen earlier, Mars was at 303 deg. In Dhanishta. Calculations show that Jupiter was in Poorvashadha at 251 deg. Pushya was at the western horizon with the setting Moon. On the southern side, from the west to the east, all the other planets were situated. So poetically Valmiki describes the sketch as if the Moon was cornered by the planets. The description of the sky, 17 years after the birth-date of Rama, is perfect astronomically. By doing such astronomical calculations backwards following are the dates of few events from the Ramayana:

Rama's Birth Date 4th December 7323 BC
Rama-Seeta Married 7th April 7307 BC
Rama Exiled 29th November 7306 BC
Hanuman enter Lanka 1st September 7292 BC
Hanuman meets Seeta 2nd September 7292 BC
Seetu (Bridge) built 26-30th Oct. 7292 BC on the ocean
The War begins 3rd November 7292 BC
Kumbhakarna is killed 7th November 7292 BC
Ravana is killed by Rama 15th November 7292 BC
Rama returns to Ayodhya 6th December 7272 BC

Thus Ramayana was not just a mere legend but a historical document of an highly civilian, scientifically oriented, (the people mentioned had the capacity to do research carry out mega projects and had all the advanced war equipments) civilization that existed some 9000 years before present And if that be so then here was a civilization which preceded all known civilization of the world. Although Epic mentioned Bows and Arrows, do they remind us of hand-held or fired fired missiles? Possible, yes. The Epic narrates arrows that could chase, change path and direction and always close in on the enemy. The modern weapons are aiming precisely at this. A reminder of heat-tracing missiles? Naga Paanam (Naga meaning snake and Papanam meaning weapon) which could kill a person if remedial course is not administrated immediately. We are now reminded of some of the chemical weapons used now. Paasa Paanam (Passa meaning that which could tie and Paanam meaning weapon). These were used to immobilize people temporarily. Immediately our mind goes to stun grenades. These are some of the weapons that were used in the war between Rama and Ravana.

Solar Power – The Way Forward

Solar Power

Introduction

For a long time Solar Power was only identified as the conversion of sun light to to electricity. While this is not inaccurate most of us do not know that the energy harvested must first be converted to electrical energy to be able to produce generally functional electricity. The conversion is made possible through the photovoltaic or PV, a method that uses semiconductors to convert the sun’s radiation to electrical energy.

Components of a Simple Solar Power System

Solar or photovoltaic cells

The assembly of semiconductors and electronics or solar cells is enclosed in a photovoltaic module, more commonly known as a solar panel. Several solar panels are called solar panel array.

Battery

A solar panel collects and generates energy from the sun’s radiation. PV panels convert this energy to direct current electricity, a current that is produced by batteries. Although connecting a DC load directly to the solar panel is possible, batteries play an important role to a properly working photovoltaic system.

Regulator

A regulator is optional yet a vital equipment in a photovoltaic system. During the cyclic process, the battery is likely to become overcharged or over-discharge, a situation that shortens the batteries’ lifespan. A regulator prevents such situations from happening by regulating the batteries’ condition. It maintains a stage of charge where it monitors when the battery will be overly charge or discharge. In general, a regulator keeps the batteries in the most appropriate working conditions.

Converter/ Inverter

A converter allows the DC electricity stored into the batteries to be converted to AC or alternating current electricity, the type of energy that is used by the mains power supply. The DC/AC or direct/alternating converter is also called an inverter and is used to match the required current and voltage by the load. It is typical to experience some energy loss during electricity conversion.

Load

Any appliances that consumes electricity is considered a load. When choosing a load for the solar power system, it is necessary to start with a low power component before installing additional solar panels to avoid wasting of resources. PV systems are ideal for illumination as lights only consume several watts compared to bigger appliances like television, components, or computers. There are also lightings that operates on direct current electricity, allowing the use of solar power system in a low budget scale.

Solar panels, battery, regulator, converter, and load make up the solar panel system. When all of these components are installed properly, a solar power system can sustain itself for years.

Benefits of Solar Power

For most residential users, power grid is the most convenient source of electricity. It seems like a huge power shortage or outage is still in the distant future. However, the increasing worry about the exhaustion of fossil fuels is drawing authorities all over the world to exploit renewable energy sources. As solar energy is the most commercialized among other renewable energy, it is necessary to know how you, as a residential end-user, can benefit from solar power.

Low-cost production

Solar power is a proven commercial energy source. Among other renewable resources such as wind, hydro, biomass, biofuel, and geothermal power, solar power the only clean energy that is able to generate a large market scale including residential users. Due to the advancement in solar energy technology and the consistent improvement of financing approaches, solar energy project implementation is steadily reducing.

China’s emergence as one of the biggest manufacturer of solar panels largely affects the cost of end-user materials. The country also produces wind turbines although exports are limited unlike the global production and export of PV panels.

Infinite energy source

Depletion of fossil fuels is an unvarying threat to energy security. Fossil fuels are non-renewable energy sources and its exhaustion is inevitable, which means power supply shortages all over the world. On the other hand, renewable energy like solar, wind, and geothermal power are able to generate electricity without depleting natural resources. These natural energies are infinite sources of energy. If installed and utilized properly and strategically, renewable energy can supply the whole world with clean electricity.

Earth friendly

Solar energy, like all green energy, produces relatively small amounts of greenhouse gases or GHG, one of the major factors to the thinning of the ozone layer. It reduces the carbon footprint in all sectors. The utilization of alternative energy also promotes the production of low carbon technology products such as LED-powered lights, low-carbon appliances, and hybrid cars. More energy efficient storage and solar panels are being developed to improve the viability of alternative energy.

Modification of electricity usage

Solar power systems are not only able to generate and supply power to residential users, it also allows end-users to modify their electricity usage. This is made possible by a two-way smart grid system between the main power supplier and the consumer. When your solar power system generates excess energy, the power meter turns backwards. A synchronous inverter is necessary, as it will be the one to match the incoming main supply. When such favourable conditions occur, your electricity supplier pays you back for the excess energy generated by the solar power system. Alternative energy is by nature unpredictable as the amount of generated energy greatly depends on weather conditions.

Incessant government support

The fact that the recession hardly had an impact to alternative sources demands proves that renewable energy is a stable and continuously strengthening industry. The unrelenting government support, including incentive packages from various countries, helped boost the industry especially solar, wind, and biofuel generation. Energy smart technologies are gaining increased support from capital and private equity investors, giving way to digital and power saving applications in the market.

Governments all over the world are offering stimulus packages of tax credits and incentives to residential, commercial, and industrial users. Aside from tax deductions for individuals and companies that install solar power systems, the federal government also offers cash back reward programs, property tax exemptions, sales tax exemptions, and electric company incentives. Even investors partner with solar companies to sponsor recycling programs and allow conscious consumers to dispose old products properly.

Low maintenance and operating cost

The ideal set-up requires it to have optimum sunlight exposure during the day, and if this is achieved, then expect consistent energy generation on ideal weather conditions. However, proper operating and maintenance must be done periodically to ensure optimum collection of sunlight.

PV panels, if installed properly and strategically, are virtually maintenance free. Basic maintenance of solar panels includes keeping the solar panel array clean and free of debris. Washing the PV panels is also recommended especially if you live in a particularly dusty region. Use non-abrasive cleaners and wash cloth to avoid scratching the panels. A garden hose can be use to rinse the panels.

Life expectancy

Aside from its self-sufficiency, solar panels have an average of 20 or more years of operational life. With recent developments of materials used in building PV panels, the life expectancy and viability of solar panels is expected to improve in the coming years. During these years, approximately $2,000 is needed as maintenance and operating cost of PV panels.

Eliminate the cost and difficulties of transporting conventional fuel

The federal government allots billions of dollars to transport fuel and other natural gas to the country for electricity generation. Solar power systems reduce such cost, as photovoltaic panels do not require fuel or natural gas to convert sunlight to electricity. Building of large solar power plants also allows local generation of environmentally friendly electricity where it can be delivered to residential, commercial, and industrial users.

Solar Lighting

Indoor solar lighting is possible via a system that collects and distributes sunlight for indoor illumination. Outdoor solar lighting is composed of simple solar power system where the lights are continuously being charged through the day and discharge at night by illuminating walkways. Lighting takes up a lot of energy and is consequently quite expensive wherein Solar Lights has really become a very viable and affordable green option. Solar lights have a huge range and include outdoor solar flood lights, dock lights, brinkmannsolar lights and even solar powered night lights. Today in fact Solar Lights are the rage with hundreds of products and different varieties being marketed. Solar lighting is now employed inside the home and even outside it including the roof and the garden! Even commercial premises are today being fitted with solar a lighting system which is paying rich dividends not only in saving cost but also helping reduce the carbon footprint which is greatly enhanced by conventional power usage.

6 Tips to Being Clutter Free in 2017

It may not be time for spring cleaning yet, but getting a head start on your clutter cleaning could improve your overall emotional, physical, and mental well-being. The beginning of the year is actually the best time to start cleaning because it gives you a clear mental and physical space for 2017. If you’re ready to start your clutter cleaning for the year, here are some easy tips to get your home ready.

15 Minute Rule

It’s important to use time to your advantage when cleaning out clutter. Don’t think about losing a whole day cleaning or spending hours in one room of your house. Instead, block out 15 minute time intervals to clean and focus on accomplishing as much as you can in those time frames. You can do 15 minutes an hour, 15 minutes a day, or 15 minutes a week. The most important thing is to keep yourself from becoming overwhelmed.

Start Small

Trying to tackle everything and jumping from room to room is a quick way to get frustrated and quit. Instead, start with one small space of your choosing and only work in that space until it’s completed. Don’t try to set out to tackle the whole house in one sitting.

No Clutter Zone

Once you’ve cleared out a small area for yourself, designate that as the no clutter zone. No matter what, don’t allow clutter into that space. This space could start out as small as a corner of a room or as large as a whole floor of your house. As you clean, make your zone larger and larger until your whole house is a no clutter zone.

Pile System

A great way to organize is to sort your items into four piles-keep, trash, donate, and maybe. If you’re having trouble making decisions on what pile to place items in you can use a maybe pile, but make sure at the end of the day everything from the maybe pile has been moved into keep, trash or donate. Some helpful things to consider when making decisions about what to let go of are how functional the item is, how much storage space it’s taking up, and why you want to keep it.

Take Clutter Out

If you’re using the pile system, you’re going to start filling up the trash and donate piles. Put these items into boxes or bags and once you fill a bag, immediately take it out of the house. Put it in the dumpster or drive it to the donation center immediately. This will keep you from second guessing yourself and going through and taking things out. If you keep rethinking your decisions, you’ll end up organizing the same things multiple times.

Set Goals

Oftentimes we get discouraged while clutter cleaning, especially if we’ve worked really hard and can’t see a noticeable difference, so it’s important to set small goals in order to feel a sense of accomplishment. Make sure you keep your goals manageable. For example, make cleaning off a countertop a goal. This is usually something you can accomplish in one session and doing so will make you feel a lot more positive about cleaning again the next day.

Hopefully, these tips will help you get your home back on track for 2017. If you have a reasonable amount of clutter your home should be clean in no time, but if you have more clutter than you can handle you may need to involve professional help.

What Does It Take To WIN A Sale?

What to do when you win or lose.

You have given your elevator pitch, you have met with the customer, and you have identified their business value proposition and their business pain as well. Now you have jotted down your proposal, detailing all of the information you have collected. The proposal outlines the way you see the problem and the way the client sees the problem (if you used a consultative approach, you will be able to see the problem from the client's point of view). You have also given them three options for proceeding on the project. Now you sit and wait.

Actually, you only wait for a couple of days so that the client has time to read the proposal and digest it; Then you follow-up for a discussion of the proposal. The meeting is set and now you will answer questions about what it is you will do for the client.

The client will likely accept most of what you propose, but there is a chance that the proposal will be shelved until a later date and time. If this happens, you have not convinced the client of your value. You will need to go back and see what part of the process was not in your favor. The best way to do this is to ask the client what you could have done better in order to win the business. This follow-up will bring responses that range from a budget cut, an influencer wanted the competition in place, or your proposal was out of line. What you need to do is to chalk it up to a learning experience but make sure you continue to keep the client in the loop as part of your inner circle. It comes back to never burning the bridge and being extremely professional at all times.

When you lose a deal, it is important that you take time to debrief with the client to learn why you did not get the contract. If you win, what happens? You usually go on with the project. It is important that you also debrief with the client even if you win the deal. You will learn what earned you the contract and also what areas the client would like to see improved.

Minecraft – Introduction to Redstone

If you have spent any length of time within the Minecraft world, you will be familiar with the common mineral, redstone. Redstone is the “wiring” in Minecraft used to connect one contraption to another, your power source within the game.

How do you get it? Naturally, of course! You can mine for redstone ore underground as with most materials in Minecraft. That ore will turn into redstone upon breaking it with an iron pickaxe or better. However, you can also acquire it from killing a witch, looting a temple in the jungle, or trading with a villager.

Once you have your redstone in hand, you are ready to experiment with its’ possibilities. At the most basic level of gameplay, if you need a little portable light within the game, all it takes is redstone and a stick to craft a redstone torch. Want to provide constant light to your Minecraft home? Combine redstone and glowstone to make a lamp, keeping the darkness at bay… and all of the creatures that come with it.

Redstone is used for powering various sorts of gadgets. You’ll want to be familiar with several fundamental items. In the trigger category you find buttons and levers, as well as pressure plates. Buttons send a redstone signal upon being pressed, while levers function more like light switches. A pressure plate each side of a door can allow it to open as you enter and then close behind you, triggered by your weight as you step on and off again.

Two kinds of pistons also exist in the Minecraft world: regular and sticky. Regular pistons push a block one step forward and then leaves it there, whereas sticky pistons attach to the block and can thus push or pull it. You can use those to make doors, elevators, secret entrances and so on.

Repeaters, as you might guess, repeat the redstone signal: one placed after the first fifteen blocks of redstone will extend your signal’s reach for another fifteen blocks.

So, what can you do with all of these buttons, levers, pressure plates, pistons and repeaters? The sky is literally the limit. You might decide to make piston-controlled waterfalls, secret trapdoors, music machines, clocks, and even rollercoasters. If you want to get really fancy, try assembling a number of gadgets and contraptions into a Rube Goldberg Machine. Feeling lazy? Redstone can even power up automatic farming and mining machines as well.

Redstone can also enhance the brewing of potions. Combining redstone dust and a water bottle will give you the Mundane Potion, while adding the dust to a number of other potions (e.g. Potion of Night Vision, Water Breathing, or Invisibility) will increase their duration.

As you can see, redstone will provide the power source for many of your Minecraft creations and adventures. Don’t be afraid to use your imagination!

A Demanding Enquiry (WWI, Przemysl)

From the balcony, he stood looking down the street, it was mid April, 1915, winter snow was being sucked up by the ground, and melted by the sunlight, the sun was high, and the streets slippery the Russians had invaded the city, of Przemysl, (Ukraine).

His back was to the white outer door that had a big and long window, the stone building was painted deep-purple red, and he almost blended into the building. The Caretaker was behind the second door, listening to the Russian soldiers below, an officer, he held the door open an inch or two,

“What is to become of him now?” he said, as if asking a rational question, only to get an incomplete answer, if he got one at all, and he didn’t get one, it was really a rhetorical question.

It had all started so simple, the man on the balcony told himself, a occupant of the hotel: implying to his subconscious: this old Jew had nothing to do with it, matter of fact the whole world was being destroyed because of some person named Fernando got murdered during a visit in Serbia, and that got the Russians involved on one side, with the French and British, and the Germans, and Austro-Hungarian empire on the other, which stretched now to India, Africa, China and Japan, and was swallowing up all of Europe slowly. How could this be over one assassination? The who world under arms, and now it was being called The Great War of all wars.

The city was one third Jew, and now the Russians were weeding them out, and taking them off doorsteps, out of synagogues, and who knows where they were bringing them, only half returned.

The old Jew was handing the Russian officer some papers, he had a long white beard, and long white sideburns, and was old, very old. His wife in the doorway, he put his hand out to her, “Stay back,” he told her. He was very careful to say it softly, not to disrupt the Russian officer’s thinking.

When he had finished reading the papers of the old man, he took him into a small room of a nearby hut, “You will sign this paper,” he told him; it was giving him the rights to his house, like a deed.

“No, sir, Colonel,” the old Rabbi answered.

He leaned back in his chair, ripped up the papers, saying, “I didn’t enjoy reading them anyway.”

Outside the sun had went behind the buildings, a soldier came in and put some wood into the iron stove in the middle of the room, “Be quick,” said the officer, and he was, and left him alone, he was one of the Colonel’s orderlies.

The Russian had a dark-face, from the sun and wind burnt, from the cold of the previous winter, which was not completely over. They now left the hut; the orderly carefully shut the door behind them.

“Rabbi,” the Colonel called.

The Rabbi had started to walk over to his wife, thinking the Colonel was done with him. “Yes sir, Colonel?”

The Colonel walked up to him face to face, as if he had no blood in his face, pale like, eyes staring, shoulder to shoulder, “Stay here, who said you were relieved?”

The Colonel laid his hand on the old man’s shoulder, the old man was perhaps five-feet eight inches tall, the Russian, six foot. His long fingers reached up to his ear, his fingers wrapped around it, having a full grip, lightly stretching it to feel if it was grasped securely, the old man’s pinkish dark flesh, turned lightly red, and he started to squeeze, “If you move I’ll have you shot,” said the Colonel; then looked straight into the old man’s eyes you could see silent pain.

“How old are you old man?” said the near thirty year old Colonel, still squishing and pulling his ear, several Russian soldiers standing nearby laughing, joking.

The old man didn’t answer, “You love your wife?” asked the Colonel.

“How do you mean?” said the Rabbi.

“Love, are you in love with her or not?” and he started to pull and twist the old man’s ear again, the old man trying not to grind his teeth, to withstand the sharp pain.

“Have you ever been with any other girl?” asked the Colonel, “I shouldn’t ask that but I have to, and you better say yes, so my comrades can hear you and your old bag of a wife over there can hear!”

“Yes, sir Colonel, I am in love with her.”

“Are you sure?”

“I am sure.”

“Rabbi,” the Colonel said in a more fanciful voice forgetting that he had said he needed him to say he was with another girl, said, “Can you hear my soldiers talking; they want me to rip your ear off your head?” And just then, he jerked it, and blood came pouring out, and it ripped, tore.

There was no talking from the soldiers now, and the Colonel looked at him sternly, and quickly ripped the ear with all his force, in a twist and a pull, and his finger slipped off the old man’s small ears, and it was just hanging from the upper seam of the ear, the lobe part was tangling freely.

“You Jews are corrupt, you know that right?”

“I don’t know what you mean, corrupt,” said the old Jew.

“All right,” said the Colonel, “you needn’t play the better here.”

The Colonel looked at the ground, the mud, his horse; the old man’s face was in a lamenting despair, “Orderly,” he said in a sharp and stern tone, “bring a sharp knife, or razor out, cut his beard off and his sideburns and if he moves, you three over there, shoot his wife.”

The three soldiers dropped their apples, and one had a cigarette and he did the same, and aimed their rifles at the old lady, as the orderly brought a razor he had pulled out of his pocket, and brought it up to the old man’s face, and without any soap or water, shaved him clean on the spot.

The old man now was beardless, his wife had her hands over her face, and then the Colonel without a smile walked around him,

“And where is all that Jewish gold, you really don’t want to die do you?”

The Colonel now paused, waiting for an answer, the old man was looking at the ground, the mud, he knew he could not win, that you greet death the same way as you greet life; and he was too old to greet it any other way, and so he greeted it without fear, and knowing he was at peace with God. The old man folded his arms and hands.

“Do you want anything of me?” he asked.

“No,” said the Colonel. Then he told a soldier in back of him, “Strap him onto the back of my horse, and when I am gone, beat his wife.”

The old man heard it, and the Colonel wanted him to hear it, and he looked his last look at his wife of sixty-years, she still had her hands folded over her mouth, so she’d not be heard.

Awkwardly he mounted his horse, and dragged the old man down the cobblestone street, out of the city, towards the mountains, as the orderly brought more wood for the stove so when the Colonel returned he’d be warm, and the three soldiers went over to the old woman, and with the butts of their rifles, they beat her half to death.

When the Colonel returned, he went into his little hut, it was warm, and he opened a bottle of wine, and lay back in his bunk, looking at his uniform, and all its medals he had on it, his helmet, his mud covered boots, and said, to himself,

“The old devil took a lot of silent pain before he croaked, thought he never would.”

The Importance of Food in Our Life

Food is the basic necessity for all of us and we all earn money to get this basic necessity. We need to eat 3 meals a day to keep our body running so that we can manage our daily functions. Many of us ” Eat food to live” while there are others who “Live to eat food”. In fact, nutrition assumes a special importance in each and everyone’s life.

Types of Foodstuff

The food is normally divided into two main categories given below:-

1- Vegetarian food- These include stuffs like milk, fruits and vegetables. These are those stuff that are obtained from plants and trees.

2- Non- Vegetarian food- These include stuffs like meat and meat products, chicken, turkey, fish, squid etc. Non vegetarian food are generally obtained by killing animals.

Nutrition from Foodstuff

Nutrition from food is necessary and without this daily dose of nutrition animals may not survive for long. It is important to support life as nourishment obtained helps the cells present in our body to carry out its routine functions. Different stuffs provide different levels of nutrition. The nutrients are divided into six classes which are given below:-

1- Carbohydrates- These provide energy to the body and are found in items like rice, bread and other grain products.

2- Fats- It consists of a group of compounds that are generally insoluble in water. These are found in items like butter, ghee, fish oil, lard etc. Fats are stored in the human body for use at a later use for energy.

3- Minerals- These are needed for the maintenance of proper functions in the body like the transport of oxygen throughout the body, stimulating growth, normalizing the nervous system etc. Minerals can be found from a variety of food items such as meat, cereals including cereal products such as bread, fish, milk and dairy foods.

4- Protein- These are important components of muscles, skin and hair. Proteins are helpful in creation of various enzymes in the body that control various important functions. Major sources of protein include milk, meat, fish, egg, and vegetables.

5- Vitamins- They are an essential component of animal body required for good health. It is organic compound required as a nutrient. Good sources of vitamins are fruits, vegetables, cereals, milk and eggs.

6- Water- It is popularly known as the”elixir of life”. The human body comprises of 55-78 % of water. It is required for the essential functioning of the various important parts of the human body.

Thus, these points given above reflect the importance of food and nutrients in our diet. As long as a human is alive, he needs water and foods in the required quantity.

Why Women Prefer Bad Boys

Not real: Nice guys are too nice. No one can always be that nice unless they're a saint. They are busy being nice instead of being real and women instinctively do not trust that. Bad boys "keep it real". Nice guys do not want to upset the apple cart.

Respect: No one respects a doormat. Nice guys do not set boundaries or make any real demands. A bad boy does not let a woman walk all over him or control him. Women can not respect a man they can control. No respect = No attraction.

Predictable: Most people lead cycling , predictable lives, so they're attracted to people who are exciting and unpredictable. Bad boys are always a challenge. Nice guys are never a challenge. Predictable = No excitement = No challenge = I prefer a bad boy.

Mother Nature: Women are designed to nurture. However, instead of doing this with children, they often end up doing it with bad boys. They think their love will save them. Nice guys rarely need to be saved.

Fixer-Upper: Nice guys do not usually need to be fixed. Bad boys usually do, so they become a project. Women think if they can "create" the perfect man, he will never leave them. Also, if they're busy fixing someone else, they do not have to look at what needs to be fixed in their own lives.

Sperm wars: Women are designed to procreate with the strongest possible genes. Bad boys are sending an unconscious message that they have great genes, so they're not afraid of losing the woman by misbehaving. Nice guys are sending a message that they do not think their genes are good enough, so they will not misbehave.

Fear of intimidation: If a woman is afraid of intimidation, she subconsciously knows she can avoid it with a bad boy, since she can never get close enough to him to have to go there. A nice guy will eventually want a commitment, and that's scary.

Low self-esteem: We do not feel comfortable with people who treat us better than we treat ourselves. If you do not think much of yourself, the bad boy is simply reinforcing your negative belief. A nice guy is treating you in a way you're unfamiliar with.

Sex: Women feel a nice guy will not be good in bed. They like to be manhandled sometimes and think a nice guy will not be able to take control and get the job done. A bad boy comes across as being able to get the job done, even though that may not always be the case.

Hot: Have you ever seen a bad boy who was not hot? I'm sure there are a few, but they would not be able to get away with half the stuff they did if they did not look so good. Meanwhile, when a woman describes someone as a nice guy, she means, "He's not hot".

Charm: Nice guys do not always know what to say, and are sometimes at a loss for words. Bad boys can be very charming and know exactly what women want to hear. However, they ever switch over to being selfish. By the time they reveal their true colors, the woman has fallen for them and has a hard time letting go.

Protection: Historically, men have protected women – physically and otherwise. Bad boys give the illusion of being able to protect women, while with nice guys, women are not so sure.

Life is about balance. Most men fall into either the bad boy or the nice guy category. The ideal man is neither, but walks that fine line between the two. Until men learn how to do this, more often than not, women will choose the bad boy.

Is Your Headphone Jack Plug Giving You Problems?

You are doing your favorite activity and listening to music on your headphones. Suddenly the music just stops or its interrupted with a loud crackle. How annoying! Weather it is your old Sony Walkman, MP3 player, new Apple iPod, iPhone, iPad or your lovely laptop, the thought of an audio malfunction could be shocking. Most likely your audio interruption is caused by a problem with your Headphone Jack Plug.

Sometimes it’s the simple things that count. With all the complicated circuitry and programs going on inside today’s audio capable gadgets, it may be the common headphone jack that causes the most problems. A set of headphones and the headphone jack gives us the capability auditory interaction with today’s popular electronic devices. Depending on the type, a headphone jack costs anywhere from a fraction of a dollar to a few dollars. That is why it can be very frustrating when you realize you may have paid hundreds of dollars for an electro-gadget that doesn’t work because of a relatively cheap!

The term headphone jack or headphone plug refers to both male and female metal connectors that come in various sizes. The most common sizes are a 6.35mm or 1/4″ jack, 3.5mm miniature jack and a 2.5mm sub-miniature jack. The malfunction of a simple headphone jack can be a big headache.

There are a few different causes for its malfunction. The female part of a headphone jack is most prone to causing a failure because it us an opening into the inner circuitry of any device that has one. Allowing sand, dust or water to get inside could cause a problem. Some of today’s latest audio devices have a “moisture” detection sensor. If liquid or excessive moisture gets inside the headphone jack, a small LED light will change from white to red to indicate unacceptable moisture levels. Such indication may cause the device to shut down in an attempt to avoid further damage. Another common cause of headphone jack failure is a bad connection do to the spreading of the internal metal contacts. This is the reason for most repair requests or returns for MP3s, cell phones and iPods. It has been noted as one of the most discouraging problems for audio technicians. Technicians have stated that it is a shame that such beautifully designed devices fail because of a jack malfunction.

So, what can be done to avoid and/or repair a problem with headphone jacks? If you think dirt or dust got into the jack, you could try blowing out the jack hole. You can blow into the hole yourself or buy a can of compressed air commonly sold in electronic and computer stores that are made specifically for cleaning electronic devices. If you think liquid or moisture got into the hole, just let it sit for a while in a dry warm place for a couple of days, the device might dry out and begin working properly. If none of these works and your device is under warranty, send it back to the manufacturer for repair.

Although not recommended, you could try a do it yourself fix. To do this, remove the cover of your device. This may require you to remove a number of screws around the perimeter of the cover. If you have soldering skills you can remove the old solder from the jack by heating up the old solder with a soldering gun and tabbing it off with a toothpick. Then apply new solder using proper soldering technique. If you do not know how to solder try cleaning jack connectors with an alcohol swab. Test your device to see if it works. If not, you may want to re-solder the connections. Soldering properly requires some skill.

If all of the above methods do not resolve your jack problem, your best bet may be to send it back to the manufacturer for a repair. Follow the instructions in your user manual for the repair process. But there are ways to avoid problems with your headphone jacks. Be gentle when inserting the male jack into the female receptor. Angling when injecting may cause the female connectors to spread, thus causing a loose connection, which may require constant jiggling. Use device clips to secure your device to your belt or pocket to avoid pulling on the jack if your device falls or is pulled.

Sometimes the best way to avoid jack damage is prevention. Some devices come with jack covers but others do not. If you have a device that does not have a headphone jack cover you can buy one at your electronics store or go on-line and search for “headphone jack cover”. Protect your investment, avoid dust and moisture and get a cover if you don’t have one.

A Torrent Of Punishment

Mocoa, Colombia – Beyond the number of dead, more than 300, it’s very, very hard to watch the survivors, with their pain and trauma. Many people have lost six, ten, or even more relatives. Not to mention their friends, neighbors, acquaintances, engulfed by the mud.

It happened just before midnight. Many inhabitants slept when the river invaded their house and carried them away. It is all the more difficult because of this city, together with the Putamayo region, is at the heart of an armed conflict that lasts. Many Mocoa residents are displaced or have lost a loved one in clashes between the guerrillas, the paramilitaries, and the army. With this disaster, the tragedy overwhelms them again.

I was at my home in Cali, and on rising on Saturday morning, on April 1, I saw messages on my phone warning that a river had overflowed in Mocoa after torrential rains and There were many victims. But I did not imagine the magnitude of the disaster.

On the first day, the Colombian Red Cross reported 23 dead. As of 6 April, there were 306 deaths, including 92 children, and 314 disappeared.

I first looked for a way to reach the city, in the south of the country. I was able to catch a flight to Puerto Asis, near the border with Ecuador, and go up a road to Mocoa. It only took me two hours because it was spared by the mud, which swept three bridges on the other road leading to the city. Once there I moved with a motorcycle and then walk.

I stayed there for several days, and the smell of the dead bodies was very strong.

There was dirt everywhere, a lot of dust. And the sound of machines used to clear and break the rocks carried by the river.

Sometimes we could also hear tears or the cries of people to whom the body of a relative or an acquaintance was reported.

It is a very heavy atmosphere, very sad.

The scene provides a feeling of complete impotence. It is painful to see the inhabitants try to save the little that remains of their existence, fridges full of water, televisions, some clothes, dolls, shoes. Sincerely, it is very trying. Like the pain, we read on the faces of the survivors. She looks very, very strong. And then there is all the destruction of the environment, houses in crumbs, buried cars.

I was able to take pictures of the site from an army helicopter, and that’s where I really measured the scale of the disaster.

The force of nature surpasses the imagination, with rocks and trees transported by the river, and under which houses were literally buried.

Wherever there was a neighborhood, nothing was left but mud and rocks.

We went up to the source of the river, and to that of landslides, the mud of which inflated the deadly flood.

With the torrential rains, the mountain yielded, notably because of deforestation.

I counted at least ten to twelve places where she collapsed into the river.

The mud flow interrupted the city’s water and electricity supply. The first few days, the food was hard to find locally. For my part, I had a stock of preserves and bottles of water before arriving in Mocoa. My biggest problem was the lack of electricity. I did everything to save the batteries of my cameras and computer, and enjoy the few generators that were running at the hotel or elsewhere.

It is always difficult to work on a natural disaster, but it is even more so with this one. You really have to be careful where you put your feet, not to end up under a heap of debris or crushed by a wall. There is mud, rocks, trees, scattered everywhere. You have to be very focused because there is also a lot of movement around. People who hope to find a loved one, looking for remnants of their life before, or who do not want to hang around

What moved me most was the people waiting at the entrance to the cemetery.

They came with their families, with their own tools, shovels, and picks, to bury their own relatives. Then they entered to recover the body, dig a hole, drop the coffin, and mourn this loss. I was particularly touched by the burial of a trader. “Why did it happen?” What happened? Why did you leave me alone, “lamented the members of his family?

I was particularly touched by the burial of a trader. “Why did it happen? What happened? Why did you leave me alone, “lamented the members of his family?

Funerals are very hard to cover.

It is a very intimate moment of family life. Some wish to be left alone. There are much pain and distress. It’s very hard. And you’re there, taking pictures.

One image that I keep in mind is that of a small group of three or four people, with their shovel and pickax, waiting for permission to enter the cemetery, to recognize the body of the member of their family.

Before digging a hole to place it there and bid farewell. It is this pain that I can not forget. This grief of the family that bids farewell to the one she loves.

A Guide to Blackpool Hotels

Blackpool is the most famous holiday location in the UK. For decades families have packed their suitcases and headed off to stay in a hotel, visit the Pleasure Beach, play by the sand and experience a view along the coastline from up high in the Blackpool Tower. A major focal point of the city is the active tram network that is used today as much as it has been in years past.

Blackpool hotels can be found all the way along the coast, from peer to peer. Such is the popularity of Blackpool as a tourist attraction, it is fair to say there are more guest houses and apartments for tourists than there are for residents near the coast where all the attractions can be found. Many of the Blackpool guest houses look out over the illuminations which are another famous feature of the resort. This is an integrated light display including over 40,000 light bulbs which helps the tourists and locals understand that they are in a truly magical place. This starts in August most years.

Choosing where to stay in Blackpool is no easy task, especially with so much on offer. Another issue can be that if you choose to stay in Blackpool during a busier time of year, you may have problems finding a place that is available unless you choose to plan it well in advance. That is also a great option if you wish to take advantage of many offers and discounts that is available if you are prepared.

When you are deciding where to stay in Blackpool an important thing to consider is what you intend to get out of your stay. Should you be looking to experience the true essence of Blackpool then you will most likely be looking to stay along the coastline where you will be within easy walking distance of the major attractions. A downside of that is that you may end up finding it slightly too busy and long for some calm instead.

If you are looking to stay in the Blackpool apartments, or hotels in Blackpool that are slightly out of the city then you will also have to consider the long walking distance that you may have to embark on to get you where you want to be. After this, you may enjoy the tram ride that is available with good regularity.

The Blackpool guest houses that are among the most popular also have entertainment and cabaret on in the evening, whilst others even have swimming pools and fitness centers inside. Whatever you would like to stay in a hotel like this may depend on many factors, not least your budget and your preferences. The prices can fluctuate quite considerably, especially depending on the time of year, the location of the hotel and the facilities that are available inside it. In order to get to grips with the likely costs of a Blackpool holiday it is recommended that you go online and search for prices there, however do not forget to have enough money left over to have a great time when you are away
