Large Printing Plants and Publishing Equipment

Printing plants in the great cities are getting so large that they require large capital, and it is a question whether they must not soon follow the development of other large industrial establishments, operated by capital, engaging high-priced expert people to run them.

However, many of the good publishers of today were originally one-man propositions. There is usually a combination of a good salesman and a good mechanical manager who work well together, but whatever the personnel, the brains and ability must be there as the first essential toward profit-making.

The second essential is an up-to-date equipment. A good printer may maintain an existence with a lot of
Old machinery and type, but the money is made with the newest and best presses, feeders, folders, and supplies. When you see a machine that will produce ten per cent, more than the one you have, it pays to make the change and drop the old servant. Printing is a ten per cent, business, and with machinery that is ten per cent, behind the times you are just at 0.

As soon as a new printing office is moving well, the proprietor should begin to solicit the class of work that will fit in best where he needs it. This does not mean cutting prices to get fillers. The only filler worth having is one that pays its ten per cent, profit. The manager who once gets an office to paying a moderate profit, and builds up on the principle of keeping it balanced, is on the road to success.

Fun Activities Help Create Family Camping Memories

Camping with your family provides a wide array of possibilities for enjoyment. From the basic activities that include swimming and hiking to more inventive activities such as story telling and cloud watching, there are activities for all ages. Since camping is a great way to relax your mind and ease out of the demands of your daily life, activities should be a combination of structured and spontaneous, not another something you need to do.

Each member of your family should come up with some activities they would like to do while camping. These ideas need to have some preparation when you pack so bikes, radios, backpacks, books, games, swimsuits. etc. are included. These structured activities should only consume part of your trip.

Staying busy does not have to mean filling up every hour with structured activities. Camping needs to include downtime for everyone and that, in and of itself, creates spontaneity. Have some thought put into this type of time so when the time is right your family can enjoy activities they have not thought of or done before. This is what creates memories.

Structured activities may include:

Swimming – No matter where you are camping you are bound to have a lake, a brook, or pool close to you. Swimming is great exercise and lot of fun for all ages. Send your kids off to swim their lungs out in these and explore the bounties of nature for themselves. If you are camping in a commercial campsite you might even be lucky enough to find a pool for your kids to go swimming in. But whether it is a natural or a man-made lake, as long as it is all right for your children to swim in them you know that they’ll stay occupied.

Biking – Camping is all about discovering nature and engaging in physical activities, and what better way of combining both than going out biking? When cycling around with your children make sure you have a map and a first aid box close at hand, so that you don’t continue to worry about getting lost or ending up hurt and can instead concentrate fully on the breathtaking view alone.

Hiking – You do not need to be a serious hiker to enjoy walking through nature’s beautiful display, wherever you are camping. Bring a map of the area and take your family on a hiking trip they will remember.

Build a campfire – Camping is not camping without a campfire. Although fire can be a danger, with attention to the fire and supervision of the kids the entire family can sit around the campfire and be memorized by the flames. Allow your kids to find twigs (on the ground, never cut them off a tree) and throw them into the fire. Once you build the campfire enjoy its warmth, roast marshmallows and hotdogs, and enjoy how the dancing flames bring your family together.

Crafts – Bring items from home or have the kids find what they need to create crafts from nature. Gather twigs to build a castle or a fort, find rocks to paint to create rock pets, or bring glue and scissors and let your kids create what they can imagine.

Toys and balls – Bring items that will keep the family entertained in case of inclement weather and ones that will be enjoyed outside. A baseball and gloves, football, or frisbie can be tossed for hours between members of your family. Bring age appropriate toys that can take on a new dimension at the campsite such as a small truck. There will be hours of enjoyment and imagination as your kids (big and small, and Dad) transform dirt into a construction site or trails.

Dice – These five small, square, and numbered cubes can turn rainy days into many fun activities inside. Don’t loose track of how these cubes can also be used outside on the picnic table or choosing who does what to play a game, clean up in the evenings, or pack up to go home.

Fishing – Kids under the age of 12 usually do not need a license (ensure you and everyone fishing have the correct license for the State you are camping in). This is a great activity if you are near a river, lake or pond. Bring the poles and teach your children how to fish. There can be contests with prizes for the first fish caught, the smallest fish, the most fish caught, and of course, the biggest fish.

Learn a little – Do a little research on the area you will be camping before you leave. Without it coming off as a ‘lesson’ or ‘school’ find the historical sites or talk about what the Explorers of the past went through as they paved their way across the area. You can also learn about plants, birds, and animals that are native to the area.

Creative Spontaneous Activities

Take a late night walk – The best time of the day is the night. Kids are usually in bed so make a late night walk a special activity for the family. Check out the stars, listen to the silence, smell the fresh country air. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Scavenger hunt – Provide a list of items such as plants, leaves, or animal tracks that you might see to each family member. Go on a nature hike and have everyone check off everything they see. A planned scavenger can be done, also. Bring items from home and place them around the campsite. Provide a few riddles and clues and see how many they can find. Be cautious of plants such as poison ivy, oak, sumac etc.

Storytelling – Tell stories about when you were growing up. Kids young and old like to hear ‘when you were young’ stories of your camping or outdoor adventures. Once the stories start everyone will join in to tell about their memories. Another way to tell stories is to start one and let all members of your family add to it and see where the story goes.

Watch clouds – As you are sitting around in your campsite watch the sky and find the characters in the clouds. Better yet put a blanket on the ground and lay on your back to find your shapes and see if you can see what others in your family see.

Climbing – Kids love to climb. Find a hill or some rocks along the shoreline that they can play on. Let their imaginations take over for hours of fun.

Skip rocks – Scour the shores of the lake to find flat rocks and see who can skip their rock the most times. This activity will be enjoyed by the entire family since even the young members can try skipping rocks.

Journaling – Pack a blank journal to use when you feel something happened that needs to be documented. Provide every family member with paper to do this and have them read their entries over dinner or while sitting around your campfire.

Sing songs – If your family is so inclined, singing traditional campfire songs can be a lot of fun. You can also photocopy the insides of everyone’s favorite CD and sing the lyrics to some of their favorite songs.

Camping with family does need to include activities. It may sound very relaxing to sit around the campfire all day, but your kids will need to keep busy. Use these suggestions to help create an enjoyable family camping trip that will generate wonderful memories. One successful camping trip will lead to man, many others. Camping is a great family experience. Go and have fun.

The Advent of Modern Technologies

The advent of modern technologies has undeniably brought so much comfort to the lives of people. It has supported major industries in so many ways that production has become so large scale enough to meet human needs for agricultural and industrial produces. But one drawback caused by technological advancement is overshadowed by these comforts, and that is depletion of the natural resources. Awareness has been raised regarding this condition that have lead to a revolution in the use of natural resources have been made and brought the enhancement of energy-technologies.

What are the two energy sources renewable-energy? Basically energy resource is either renewable or nonrenewable. An energy source is considered renewable resource only if it is replaced by natural processes and is replenished with the passage of time.Renewable energy on the other hand are resources with sustainable yields. Sadly, the major sources of energy that is used to manage technology are nonrenewable, meaning they can be depleted. They include gasoline, coal, natural gas, diesel, and other products derived from fossil fuels which are non-renewable. The depletion of nonrenewable energy source will be inevitable because it is not replenished. Because of this, attentions are gradually shifted to the use of renewable-energy-technologies.

Sustainable energy which is often regarded as renewable resources is the provision of energy that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. They include plant matter, solar power, wind power, wave power, geothermal power and tidal power. It usually also includes technologies that improve energy efficiency otherwise called renewable-energy-technologies.

Solar energy is a form of renewable-energy which supports technologies. Solar energy is the energy derived directly from the Sun. It is the most abundant source of energy on Earth and the fastest growing type of alternative energy. Renewable-energy-technologies through solar energy use the photovoltaic cell. It converts sunlight directly into electricity. The Sun yearly delivers more than 10,000 times the energy that humans presently consume.

Wind power is another replenishable source. It derived from uneven heating of the Earth’s surface from the Sun and the warm core. Renewable-energy-technologies supported by wind power is generated by electricity gathered via converting the rotation of turbine blades into electrical current by means of an electrical generator.

Hydropower is a very common resource used to run renewable-energy-technologies. The power is derived from the movement of water in rivers and oceans, which can be used to generate electricity using turbines, or can be used mechanically to do useful work. Another renewable source is geothermal power which is produced via directly harnessing the natural flow of heat from the ground.

The "What, Why, When and How" of a Content Plan

For a moment, visualize your website without the words, the images, the videos, the audio, the embed apps or even the raw data! How does it look and feel now? Empty, inanimate, useless, and worthless! Well, that sums up the value of web content. That said, you cannot fill up your website with just anything. The content you place and distribute over the World Wide Web, ought to have a purpose, which may be brand building, boosting online sales, simply delivering information to the visitors or a mix of all of these. When the content fails to hit these targets, it is nothing but noise. So, what differentiates a meaningful, relevant, goal-oriented content from the noise? The answer is – a strategic Content Plan.

“What is Content Plan & Do I have one for my website?”

The question is an obvious unless you are an online marketer who spends hours mapping digital marketing campaigns. In the plainest words, the Content Plan is a blueprint of what content you publish online, when, on what platform, for whom and with what objective. The other experts may add to the definition to widen its scope, but the essence is extracted in this one sentence. Now, addressing the latter part of your question, “Do I have one for my website”; well, if you have a documented plan for what content you release on the internet, your answer is a yes. Otherwise, you are still in need of one.

“Okay! I don’t have a Content Plan, and I think I don’t need it either”

That’s a common perception, and there’s nothing wrong if you feel the same way. However, please answer these questions to see if there is a shift in position regarding your Content Plan claim.

  1. Are you glad about the cost per visitor you extract from your website?
  2. Do you remember who published the last web page/blog post on your website?
  3. Is your Facebook page “Likes” & “Comments” count shooting up?
  4. Do you plan and discuss the online content at par with other marketing content?

The 4 straight ‘No(s)‘ or even 3 of them, is an eye-opener – a Content Plan is required.

Why I Became A Big Gay Rock Star

As our annual celebrations of gay pride approach, you might give some thought to what pride means to you. I recently participated in a group meeting of gay professionals who asked if there even was such a thing as gay pride, and if so, what was it? Though we celebrate pride in group festivals and parades, what pride means to each person is often very personal.

In 2011, I toured the Midwest as a gay rock and roll solo artist. I performed at six pride festivals in five weeks. Just me, my electric guitar and backing tracks, and high energy rock and roll songs I had written and collected about pride, self-esteem, fun and hot men. It is reputed that Led Zeppelin got their name after being told their sound would go over like a lead balloon. In that sense, I had the delivery down pat because that was exactly how my sets went down. Audiences, to quote Iron Maiden, ran to the hills.

I had expected a reaction like this after years of observing bar after bar, festival after festival, showcase the latest in lip-synching drag performers, and DJ’s mixing it up in 4/4 time. More power to them, but tres cliché for a community that celebrates diversity. So I was ready to play out loud to the empty sidewalk, to deliver my stage banter to blades of grass and crickets (though the crickets would not be heard over the tones of a Marshall amp). Was this defeatist attitude setting me up for failure? Not at all.

When I was a kid playing vinyl records of KISS, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, and the Rolling Stones among others, I wanted the ability to create the kind of sonic power they had. At the same time, a new wave of hard rock dominated the music scene simultaneously with my passage into puberty and the subsequent realization of my attraction to the fairer sex — which for me was the samer sex. My inner urges did not align with the gratuitous flaunting of “girls, girls, girls” in the hard rock I loved.

Besides my inner urges, my outer self could not pull off being in a band. With glasses, braces, a gangly frame and no access to an electric guitar or lessons, I couldn’t yet imagine a world outside of my rural Florida home town where I could pursue a life in the world of rock music. I had very little in the way of self-esteem or self-assurance. A campaign promising “it gets better” might have given me a glimmer of hope, but that was for another generation yet to come.

What I realize today is that the sonic qualities of the music I loved evoked a sense of power that was very entrancing to someone who felt powerless. When I came of age and went to the bars, I could not relate to the robotic repetition of the dance music beats in the clubs, which for me elicited a detached trance rather than the gutsy, ballsy swagger of rock and roll derived from the blues. Psychologically, it could be translated as the difference between archetypal masculine and feminine energies. I was absolutely attracted to the masculine, as someone seeking outer empowerment might be.

To many people, it’s enough to buy your favorite music and listen to it. For me, I was totally engaged and connected to the sound, and wanted to create it with my own hands. This might be what made the overblown caricatures of rock hetero-sexism so unnerving for me. It’s at least no wonder that finding other gay guys who liked this music could be so difficult. However, I had entrained to the sound, not unlike how the blues moved the souls of oppressed slaves in the American south.

With the advent of the internet, the search was on to find any signs of gay musical life that could exist off of the dance floor. Indeed there was hope, though nothing that resembled the bombast I was seeking. One true inspiration was a handsome gentleman from Oklahoma. Sid Spencer had three classic country albums under his giant belt buckle. Here was someone flying the rainbow flag in what was another hostile musical landscape at the time. Sid was doing it, and so could I. It was my job, indeed my birthright, to create my music my way. My sound: guitars and more electric guitars. My songs: men loving men in all possible ways. My tagline: a double-entendre to horrify the moral establishment.

Over three years, I recorded an album in my basement that reflected my experience of having each foot in two worlds that no one thought could reconcile. I was laughed at for being gay by the rock and roll crowd. I was laughed at by gays for being rock and roll. Now, no one’s opinion mattered except mine. With this album, I would stand in my own skin, my own identity, and my own power.

Like most artists, I’m probably the most critical of the finished product. I did the best that as I was able with the time, money, resources and skill that I had. Apparently that was good enough to get six festival bookings: something my teenaged-self would have never thought possible. Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Columbus, Minneapolis, Cincinnati: I was a rock and roll road show!

Whether or not you attend a pride festival this summer, give a thought to how you show up with pride in the world. Pride can be the hubris to flip off the people who said you were nothing, the courage to stand in your own shoes, the passion to express your greatest truth, or the coming together of strong people in camaraderie. All of the above put me on the road to being a big gay rock star, even if I’m the only one who ever noticed. I didn’t matter if no one else showed up. What matters is that I showed up.

Tips for Buying the Right Mattress for You

If you're like most consumers, you bought your mattress so long ago that what you knew about mattresses back then no longer applies to the models on the market today. For instance, did you know the newest mattresses Do not need to be flipped?

You may be associated to make the investment in a quality mattress, or to spend the time investigating the options. But just think about your investment on a mattress spread over over 15 years, and consider that you do spend one-third of your life in bed. Is not it worth spending the time and money to make sure your mattress is right for you?

Here, some basic tips to make the most of your investment and help you rest easy with your decision.

Try, Try Again

The only way to find the right mattress for you is to try them for yourself. Take notes on the ones that you like and the ones you do not like, focusing on factors like firmness or whether or not they have pillow tops. If you discover you like mattresses with pillow tops (also known as summit tops or softest tops), that immediately narrows down your selection to one-third of the mattresses on the market. Likewise, if the mattresses in your "no" column are firm, then firm is not the right choice for you. It sounds simple enough, but it can be tricky for consumers to look past the slick marketing of mattresses to focus on the common denominator in the mattresses that appeal to them.

How Soft?

The degree of softness you choose really depends on your sleeping style. If you sleep on your side, you'll want a softer mattress so that your shoulder and hip sink in comfortably and your spine is in a straight position. Firmer mattresses are better suited for people who hit the hay face-down or on their backs.

If you and your partner prefer different levels of softness, you can accept by adding an additional layer of foam to the side of the person who favors a softer bed or trying one of the new air beds, which give each person a separate control over their space .

Furniture Matters

While you're deciding on a mattress, also consider whether or not you should buy a new bed frame. Today's thin mattresses can be up to 18 inches thick, so think about whether your current bed frame will make it necessary to climb a ladder just to get into bed.

Low-profile frames and foundations are an option because they make settling onto thick mattresses much easier. By using this type of frame, your bed will be about 7 inches shorter, which makes a significant difference. A neat bonus: Besides adding to your comfort level, dropping your mattress to a lower height will also make your room look bigger.

Bunk beds are a timeless trend, and now they're especially popular with a desk rather than a second bed underneath the top bunk. Keep in mind before you buy that this type of bed must have a mattress seven inches thick or less.

Beware the Point of No Return

Because of health laws, chances are, you will not be able to return your mattress. (If a store does allow returns on mattresses, it most likely is throwing out the mattresses when they're returned and compensating for the difference with high markups.) So make sure you're prepared when you shop with measurements of the space where your Bed will go and that you do not get swayed to buy a mattress you are not sure right for you.

One way to avoid a sticky situation: Even if you think that the queen-sized mattress you're bringing home will fit around your house's tight corners, consider a split style just to be on the safe side, especially if there's a possibility the mattress May be used in your next home.

Also, remember that with many manufacturers, stains void the warranty, so put on that mattress pad as soon as you get your mattress home – and warn the kids not to drink Kool-Aid in bed.

Buying your new mattress should not result in you tossing and turning as you think about opening your pocketbook and researching all the options. Follow these simple tips, and you'll get a good night's sleep after investing in a new mattress.

Love Tarot – The Crossroads of Our Relationships

One of the most common inquiries during a Tarot reading typically concerns matters of romance and partnerships. Naturally, people consult the Tarot for answers about love. One would expect that most people would want knowledge about their future love life: who and when that special somebody would be entering their life. Yet, many come to the Tarot for guidance about a current relationship. Typically, these are the relationships that have reached a stalemate. In these cases, the relationships have lost their sense of direction or purpose.

The Tarot has an exceptional ability to uncover the areas in a relationship that are struggling. More importantly, the Tarot can identify the key issues that are going on within each partner. This often refers to each individual’s emotional development, expectations, and past experiences that are being projected into the relationship. One would hope that the Tarot would tell us exactly what we need to do in order to bring harmony back into a relationship. In truth, this is not always the case. More often than not, the Tarot only opens the door to our own inner knowledge. Each individual holds the answers that they need. The Tarot is a conduit, a divinatory tool that enables you to access your unconscious and higher self. In the end, you are always your own best guide.

When utilizing the Tarot for answers on a relationship, it is important to recognize that there are some significant cards that often question your intentions and motivations. These cards often reflect important crossroads that require you to look within yourself to make important decisions. They encourage you to take a good hard look at your relationship and ask yourself if this relationship is something that is in your best interest. It’s important to remember what the Tarot teaches us. They are there to guide us on our path. They are always a reflection of our level of personal growth and emotional development. In some cases, the Tarot is there to redirect us, to remind us that we have made the wrong choice or have become blinded to our own truths.

Although the Suit of Cups often plays an important role in Love Tarot, they are not the only cards that depict relationship issues. As I mentioned before, there are other significant cards that require you to ask yourself some important questions. Some of them our rather obvious like the Three of Swords, the Devil or the Lover. However, there are some that are unobvious. These are the cards of the Hermit, Death, and the Two of Swords.

The Hermit Tarot Card Meanings in a Love Tarot Reading

Traditionally, the Hermit is the seeker of truth and wisdom. He often represents the seeker’s journey into the unknown. The Hermit’s path is a shadowy one. The lantern he carries is symbolic of the mirror to our own selves. This is wisdom that is within in all of us. It is the power to see ourselves as we truly are.

Another common interpretation of the Hermit is the wise old man or advisor. In this respect, he is the messenger of truth, revealing the importance of forethought and circumspection. Since the Hermit can be a carrier of light, he is there to share his knowledge and light the path for others. He guides the seeker towards self-knowledge and self-acceptance.

When The Hermit is drawn a love Tarot reading, he typically represents a need to pause. This is a time for evaluation. In terms of a relationship that has come to a crossroad, the Hermit encourages you to go within and find your truth. The Hermit may indicate that your focus on your relationship will need to shift. This is not the time to make your relationship a priority. You would be better served by allowing yourself the freedom to do some soul searching. Although there may be some loneliness, the ultimate goal would be a transformative experience. After a period of introspection, you may be willing to work things out with your partner. A new perspective and sense of purpose can add valuable information for both you and your partner.

Death Tarot Card Meanings in a Love Tarot Reading

Death is not an ending, but rather is a part of a larger cycle. Although Death is often associated with something that is destructive, it really is an opportunity for something much greater. Death plants the seeds for the growth of tomorrow. Death is an act of generosity as it cleanses and purges the remnants of our old lives.

Traditionally, Death is the card of transformation. It signifies the commencement of profound change. In a Tarot reading, the Death card indicates that another life cycle has ended and a new cycle has begun. It can refer to the completion of important life stages or relationships. However, it often symbolizes metamorphosis. It is the rebirth of one’s psyche. Old beliefs and ideas are discarded for new ones. In essence, it is a metaphorical death, not a literal one. In a tarot reading, Death refers to a transformation that occurs at one’s deepest core.

One common association to the Death Tarot card is the dissipation of a romantic relationship. This is particularly true for relationships that have come to a standstill. This is not always the case. Death is a wake up call. It is reminding us to open our eyes and embrace the world around us. In this regard, it may refer to our own lack of perspective. The Death card encourages you to take a good look at your relationship. It’s quite likely that your old methods of communicating have become outdated. It’s important to acknowledge the areas that you are feeling stuck. The goal is to find a new perspective, a new way of seeing, that will enable the relationship to merge into something new.

In some aspects, the Death card signifies a need to let go. Relationships that resist change tend to get lost and lose momentum. It is at this point that a relationship must be willing to let go of its old identity to form a new one. Major change is inevitable. It’s time to broaden your perspectives and explore new areas and interest that bring you together on an entirely new level.

Two of Swords Tarot Card Meanings in a Love Tarot Reading

The Two of Swords is often associated with denial. It often indicates an impasse or stalemate. Its traditional imagery depicts a women holding up two swords while blindfolded. In this context, the blind fold is self-imposed. She has clearly chosen to remain oblivious to the environment that surrounds her. The Two of Swords is also associated to indecision or an inability to make an important choice. It is clear that she is avoiding an important truth. She has created a false sense of reality and is choosing to live in a state of oblivion. This reality offers her a moment of peace. However, this does not negate the existence of the necessity of choosing a new path. At some point, the weight of the Swords will become too much to bear and she will be forced to face the reality of the situation.

In terms of relationships, the Two of swords often reveals the barriers you have placed between you and your partner. This is the nature of the stalemate. You have emotionally shut down or the relationship has become resistant to compromise. In this case, there are often issues of inner conflict or confusion about the relationship.

The issues your relationship is struggling with will not be found through outside influences. The Two of Swords urges you to once again go inward. It is time to face your inner conflicts. To move beyond your current stalemate, balance must be restored. This is often achieved by exploring the past experiences that are influencing your current situation. The Two of Swords encourages you to get honest with yourself and with your partner. The ultimate goal is to communicate and speak your truth.

The F A B Sales Method

This article discusses a proven sales technique that will be helpful to beginners and seasoned sales people alike – The F. A. B. Method.

Any seasoned sales representative will tell you that there are many components to the sales process. Among them are prospecting, getting the appointment, qualifying the prospect, identifying needs, making the presentation, checking for agreement and closing the sale.

Some would argue with me on this, but I believe that they are all equally important. You can’t get to step “B” without having successfully completed step “A”, and so on. That all important close would not be successful without first laying the groundwork, step by step.

Having said that, I would like to concentrate today on what many would consider the “meat” of the sales call – the presentation, specifically, a method called F.A.B.

Many well-intentioned sales people head out to the appointment without a clear plan of what they are going to say during their presentation. Perhaps they are new to the company and still learning the product line. Others might jump at the chance to enthusiastically rattle off all the many features of their product or service. While others, many who have been selling a long time, just like to improvise.

All of these approaches will produce hit-or-miss results, at best.

Salespeople need an organized approach. They need to present the product or service in such a way that the potential customer can readily see what’s in it for them. A long-standing, tried-and-true method to make sales happen is the F. A. B. approach.

F. A. B. stands for Features, Advantages and Benefits. It is a way of taking your prospects through the thought process of “so what does that mean for me?” After all, that is really all they care about.

Here’s the process:

During your meeting, after you have asked questions to determine what needs there may be for your product or service, tell them that as you understand it, they have a concern about how to save money (improve safety, or whatever) within their operation. It is important that the prospective customer knows you have been listening and understand their concerns. Tell them that you believe that your company can supply a solution to this concern. (I don’t like to say “problem” as many people don’t like to admit they have a problem.) Taking one feature at a time, starting with the one that will have the most impact, begin to discuss the features, advantages and benefits of your product or service.

FEATURE – A feature is a characteristic of a product or service.

Briefly discuss a feature of your product or service. I say “briefly” because you don’t want to take up a lot of time on this as the customer really doesn’t care about the feature at this point.

ADVANTAGE – The advantage is what that feature does.

You can spend a little more time talking about the advantage. You will get a sense of the gears going in your customer’s mind as s/he begins to realize what this means. Sometimes the sale is actually made in the customer’s mind during this time, long before you even discuss benefits or close.

BENEFIT – A benefit is how the advantage translates specifically to help that customer: Save time. Make money. Save money. Improve health. Provide peace of mind/security. Insure safety. Increase status.

Many people are under the mistaken impression that they are selling a product or service. What actually sells are the benefits.

Always sell benefits

Some FABs are obvious.

Feature: Our Credit Union members receive a free checking account.

Advantage: They are not charged a monthly fee.

Benefit: You save money every single month.

Feature: Our baby strollers have two safety latches: One on the wheel base and one on the handle.

Advantage: You can easily engage either or both safety latches.

Benefits: Two safety latches provide added safety for your baby and additional peace of mind for you.

Other times they are not so obvious and may not be of value to all customers.

Feature: We provide point-of-purchase displays and signage during this promotion for all distributors.

Advantage: You will receive the same selling tools as the larger stores, regardless of your purchasing volume.

Benefit: You will save time in that we are going to do the promoting for you and you will be on a level playing field with the larger distributors allowing you to make more money.

When talking about the advantages, and especially the benefits, always use the word “you”. This way, the customer can visualize himself actually using the product or service. It’s a great subliminal tool that no one really notices but does influence people.

Your product or service may have many features which translate into advantages and then into benefits. Please don’t make the mistake of telling your prospect everything your product has to offer. Studies show that the optimal number of presentation points are three. After that, people really don’t remember much. Besides, you may only need one FAB. That’s really all it takes.

Be sure to know as many FABs as your product or service has to offer. However, only present the ones (no more than three) that specifically address the concerns that your prospect has revealed during your questioning process. If they are impressed after the first FAB, by all means, ask your checking questions and go for the close.

The FAB method is a proven method for helping the potential customer realize the value of the products or services you are offering.

Learn it. It will serve you and your customers well.

Different Types of Devices For Vacuum Pumps

When considering a vacuum pump there are several different things to consider. One of the things that you will want to consider is the type of device that runs your vacuum pump. As with everything there are pros and cons. Let's take a look at some of the different devices you can choose from to run your vacuum pump.

One of the devices is an ejector. This is one of the simplest and commonly used as a vacuum producer. The basic process of the ejector is that it converges pressure energy of a dynamic fluid into velocity energy as it flows through a typical small nozzle. Ejectors use many different types of motive fluid. Steam is one of the most common fluids. Some of the pros of an ejector for a vacuum pump are:

1. It is a simple design

2. It has no moving parts which makes it so that there is not much wear

3. Has the option of being fabricated from any type of metal. It can even be fabricated of various types of plastics.

4. Using an ejector for a vacuum pump tend to be one of the least expensive ways to make a vacuum device

5. Can offer the largest throughput capacity of any type of vacuum producing device

6. It is easy to start or shutdown the vacuum pump. There is no special way to do it so it is easy for anyone.

7. Due to not having moving parts and being a simple design it is easy to repair and very low maintenance.

All of these things sound great, but there are some disadvantages for an ejector as a device for a vacuum pump. Some of those disadvantages are:

1. There is a requirement for the pressurized motion fluid

2. It is inevitable that contamination of the dynamic fluid will happen

3. It can be noisy

4. With the noise it could require discharge silencers or sound insulation

5. Most of the time there is a need for a cooling liquid source

Another option for a vacuum pump device is a liquid ring pump. This vacuum pump device is a multi-bladed impeller with a shaft that is mounted so that it can be an eccentric to the ring of liquid. Basically, as the blades rotate toward the discharge side of the pump the pockets decrease in size and the evacuated gas is compressed, enabling its discharge.

Some of the advantages of a liquid ring pump for a vacuum pump are:

1. Simpler design than most vacuum pumps

2. It employs only one rotating assembly

3. It can be constructed from any castable metal

4. It has minimal noise and vibration

5. It has very little increase in the temperature of the discharged gas

6. Can handle condensable loads

7. There is no damage from liquid or small particulates entrained in the process fluid

8. The maintenance is very simple compared to other vacuum pumps

9. If the pump needs to be rebuilt it is simple

10. It has a slow rotational speed which gives it a longer operating life

11. Can easily be started and stopped over and over

12. Can use any type of liquid for the sealant fluid

Like everything, there are cons to the liquid ring pump. Here are some of the cons:

1. It is inevitable that there will be a mixing of the evacuated gas with the sealing fluid

2. High power requirement in order to form and maintain the liquid ring

3. Due to the high power requirement it results in a larger motor than for other types of vacuum pumps

4. There is a risk of cavitations. This means that it requires a portion of the process load to be noncondensable under the pump operating conditions.

5. The achievable vacuum is limited by the vapor pressure of a sealant fluid at the operating temperature.

Another option for a vacuum pump is a dry pump. A dry pump does not need any working fluids. There are three different types of vacuum pumps available. They are: hook and claw, screw and lobe types. These types of vacuum pumps work by two different types of mechanisms. There is either volumetric reduction or the mixing of lower-pressure gas with higher-pressure discharge gas. With a dry pump it normally runs hot, because there is no liquid to absorb the heat of compression.

Some of the advantages for a dry-running pump are:

1. No contamination of evacuated gas which allows for the gas to be recovered readily

2. The pump can be built of standard, inexpensive cast iron. This is the case due to the lack of condensation.

3. It can discharge to the atmosphere

Some of the disadvantages of a dry running vacuum pump are:

1. Can not handle particulates

2. Can not handle large amounts of liquid

3. Might require a silencer

4. Due to it running hot it can discharge gases at high temperatures. Sometimes the temperatures can run as high as 600 degrees.

5. Most case it can be difficult to repair or rebuild

6. Due to the high temperatures it may require a gas purge for cooling to protect the bearings and seals from the process gas

Another option for a vacuum pump is a once through oil pump. It is commonly known as OTO for short. It is a vacuum pump that is a sliding vane type that uses once through oil to seal clearances and lubricating moving parts.

Some of the positives of an OTO vacuum pump are:

1. Can handle acidic or otherwise corrosive vapors

2. Can be built of cast iron

3. Has minimal vibration

4. Can handle high inlet temperature

Some of the negatives of an OTO vacuum pump are:

1. Requires the use of immediately removing the liquids to prevent liquid from sitting the vanes.

2. There can be contamination of the discharged process gas by the oil

3. Can not handle particulates

4. It can be cost to repair or rebuild

There is one other option for a vacuum pump device and that is a rotary piston model. The piston is attached to a cam that is mounted to the main bore of the pump cylinder.

There are several different pros to a rotary piston model:

1. Minimal vibration due to it having a balanced configuration

2. It has a rugged design so that it lends to a long life

3. Can handle small particulates

Some of the cons to a rotary piston vacuum pump model are:

1. Can not handle liquids

2. The condensable vapors are not easily handled

3. The discharged gas is contaminated with oil

4. Some of the designs can be noisy

With all of this information in mind you will want to weigh out the options and the specifics you are looking for that best meets your needs.

Jewish Feasts – Feast Of First Fruits

What is the Feast of First Fruits?

Summary

The fever of first fruits or the "beginning of the harvest" was celebrated on Nisan 16 according to the Jewish calendar. This was the first day after the Sabbath during the feast of Unleavened Bread.

The priest would wave a sheaf of green barley to symbolize the Jews dedication of the coming barley harvest to the Lord.

This fever had a great agricultural significance to the Jews after they entered the Promise Land but its spiritual significance goes far beyond grain and barley. This feast is the stress that represents the Resurrection of the Lamb of God Jesus Christ.

See the timeline around Christ's death on the Cross and his Resurrection three days later:

Timeline of Christ's Resurrection

Nisan 14 – Thursday evening – Passover Lamb killed / Christ is Crucified, Dead, and Buried

Nisan 15 – Friday – High Sabbath begins – first day of Unleavened Bread – Stone of the tomb sealed

Nisan 16 – Saturday Day – Waving of the Omar (first fruits)

Nisan 17 – Saturday Evening – Christ Rises from the Dead!

The Jewish timetable has the next day starting at sun down not at midnight! Therefore Christ's Resurrection takes place specifically on the evening of the waving of the barley loafs to celebrate the real reason for th Feast of First Fruits.

Other Important Events that Took place on Feast of First Fruits

A) Noah's Ark landed on Mt. Ararat (Genesis 8: 4).

B) The Jews crossed the Red Sea (Exodus 3:18).

C) Israel ate the first fruits in the Promised Land (Joshua 5:10 12).

D) Haman's plot to kill all the Jews was foiled (Esther).

E) Jesus Christ rose from the dead (John 12:24).

Paul Ties it All Together

Paul also ties the Feast of First Fruits together by linking Christ's Resurrection to it in 1 Coriniths 15: 20-23

20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen sleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in all all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming.

The Bible is written with such order and such symbolism that all points to Christ. He cares for us so much that He has been revealing himself to the world since it's inception! Take note of Him now! Ask Him to be your Lord and Savior. He can relieve the guilt and pain of sin in your life today. You must ask Him first and then watch Him work a miracle in your life!

All About LED Bulbs

LED bulbs come with a number of advantages. They provide a clean, bright light that doesn’t flicker. When you turn them on, they attain their full brightness immediately which is unlike other types of bulbs that take a few minutes to reach full brightness.

LED bulbs don’t have harmful substances or gases; therefore, you don’t have to worry when handling them. They also don’t get too hot. Thus you can easily handle them even when they are on.

LED bulbs consume just small amounts of light thus saving you a lot of money. They also save you a lot of money as they last for a long time.

Guide On How To Buy LED Bulbs

For you to buy the right LED bulbs you need to consider a number of factors:

1. Bulb shape:

LED bulbs come in four main shapes – candle bulbs, spotlights, A-line bulbs and floodlights. There are other shapes, but these four are the most common. The shape of bulb is of great importance as it determines the direction that the light travels.

Floodlights and A-line bulbs have wide angles. Floodlights are ideal for outdoor and recessed lighting while A-line bulbs are ideal for room lamps.

From their name, spotlights have a narrow beam that is ideal for theatres. Candle bulbs have the shape of a candle and are ideal for wall sconces and chandeliers.

2. Colour:

LED bulbs come in different colours and all you need to do is choose the one that is ideal for you. When choosing a colour to go with, you should consider how well the light shows the real colour of the objects and the temperature.

3. Base configuration:

Base configuration is the shape of the bulb where it attaches to the fixture. There are different types of base configurations such as screw-in and Edison. If you are replacing a bulb, you should go with it to the store. If buying the bulbs online, you should visit reputable sites and carefully compare the measurements and photographs of the bulbs.

4. Dimmable:

Technology has made it possible for manufacturers to come up with dimmable bulbs. These bulbs allow you to easily dim them thus saving you a lot of energy. The feature also aids in extending the bulb’s lifespan.

Conclusion

This is what you need to know about LED bulbs. For the bulbs to last for a long time, ensure that you buy them from a reputable manufacturer.

Above Ground Pools – Repair All Metal Side Wall Problems

This page will explain to you all kinds of steel side wall repairs, here are just a few: side wall rusted around the skimmer or return jet, rusted to the point of rupture, and actual rupture of wall.

OK, let’s get started, we’ll start with the most common of all side wall problems and that will be rusted around the skimmer and return jet. First thing to do is drain the pool to about six inches below the skimmer or return jet, while the pool is being drained, take off the top rails above and on both sides of the skimmer, you might have to take two sections off on either side of the skimmer or return jet. Once that is done, take off the coping (plastic piece holding the liner in place). By this time the pool should be drained enough to take the skimmer or return jet off the side wall. (All references to the skimmer, return jet and holes in the side wall, will be referred to as skimmer)

Now, that’s all done, gently pull the liner up and over the side wall and expose the rusted or damaged skimmer hole. Next you determine how much you have to cut out to get rid of the rust, example, let’s say you determine that you are going to need to cut a hole 12 X 12 inches then you will need a piece of galvanized metal 24 X 24 inches to cover the 12 X 12 hole. The galvanized metal should be at least the same thickness or the next size up. If your not sure take a piece of the wall you cut out, for sizing.

OK! You got the galvanized metal and your ready to put it in place so all you have to do is cut the hole for the skimmer, you can use the skimmer as a template to cut the hole. Your next step is to position the replacement piece so that your skimmer hole is level, the easiest way to do this is measure from the top of the side wall to the replacement on both sides the measurement should be the same. Then use some duct tape to hold it in place. A little trick to keep all those metal filings from going between the wall and liner is to put an earth magnet on the drill bit while drilling and use a medium speed on your drill and the magnet will not fall off. Once in place you can get your drill and rivets ready, the size of rivets you should use is anything from 3/16 to 1/4 inch, get a big box because you will be spacing them 1 inch apart.

Let’s get on with the drilling layout, with a tape measure make a line 1 inch in from all edges and a second line 3 inches in, now on the one inch line put a hole in each of the corners, next from each corner hole you measure 1 inch both horizontally and vertically. Now from here we measure three inches from each corner hole and drill another hole, but before we drill anymore holes we want to put in a couple rivets to hold the replacement in place solidly. As you noticed the holes are two inches apart continue from each corner until you reach the center.

Now for the three inch line we put a hole in the corner and one hole in each direction two inches from the corner hole if you have done it right it should be in between two rivets on the one inch line so that all the rivets are staggered. Once you have all the rivets in place you can drill the holes for the skimmer. The final step is to duct tape all the metal edges so their is nothing sharp to pierce the liner when put back in place. Now all that is left to do, is to put everything back together the way it came apart.

This concludes the instruction for repairing the rust around the pool skimmer and the return jet and any hole in the side wall, for instruction on how to replace a whole section please read on.

Heaven forbid, you actually have had a blow out, if your liner got ruined then it is an easy task to take it out and repair the section before putting in a new liner, if you were lucky and your liner just got stretched a bit then things get a bit trickier. If you were really lucky you probably noticed a soft spot in the wall and checked it out and realized it was going to need repair soon. If any of these scenarios fits your problem then the remedy is at hand. Read on.

First, you will have to take about half the pools top rails off. Of course if you are replacing the liner than they all have to come off. Next remove the coping and lift the liner over the side wall. Now depending on the size of the hole, you will need an extra two feet of galvanized metal the same size in height as the existing metal. Cut out the rusted piece and put in your new piece. Now from the end of the new sheet of metal measure in three inches and score a line from top to bottom on both ends, and a similar line nine inches in from the ends.

Also, make sure your lines don’t line up with one of your upright supports, if they do slide your panel one way or the other so that they don’t line up, OK, starting from the top measure down one inch on the three inch line and two inches down on the nine inch line and mark a drill hole, and you continue on both lines two inches apart till you reach the bottom. Drill three or four holes, then put in some rivets from the inside out, you want the flat part on the inside of the pool, and then continue drilling. When you have finished with the rivets put some duct tape on them and on the edge of the metal and put your Pool back together again. I hope these instructions helped you get more years of pleasure out of your pool.
