How Does Marketing Create and Satisfy Consumer Needs?

A. Marketing merely reflects the needs and wants of customers. B. Marketing shapes consumer needs and wants.

Part A

‘Marketing merely reflects the needs and wants of customers.’ We all need to eat, drink and sleep and reproduce, this is all part of who we are as human beings. Therefore at the basic level companies will strive to satisfy these functions and keep doing so by once in a while showing advertisements that tells the public that they are around and can provide the products they need.

The other aspect is that needs vary depending on what country you live in. “For example a consumer in the United States may need food but may want a hamburger, french fries and a soft drink and a person that lives in Mauritius that needs food may want a mango, rice, lentils and beans. Wants are shaped by our society.” The other part is wants, everybody can want something but only a few has the means to acquire it. A good example would be that everyone wants to eat out at expensive restaurants everyday but in reality only very few people can actually afford that lifestyle. This is why various segments have been created to target different groups and classes of people.

Marketers must therefore continually be creating and developing attractive products and then in turn devising a brilliant marketing strategy to win the consumer over to buy their product over other competing products. Companies strive to retain their customer base by delivering value and satisfaction from their products and this is formulated in consumers’ minds as a combination of service, quality and price. Some consumers would not mind paying a higher price for an item or service if they received very good service.

This is all part of what a consumer’s expectations on a product are, if these perceived expectations are met time after time then they become a loyal customer to that particular company. We as people like consistency and if a marketer provides consistent service in addition to great products and price then we will keep on going back for years. A good example would be Ben’s Chili Bowl located in Washington DC. It is an eatery that has been in business for decades and the fact that it had kept so many loyal customers is because they have offered consistent service and great food over the years and people who used to go there to eat as kids still go there as adults. They even have patrons fly into Washington DC just to experience their food and service. Companies also create brands and these brands have an effect on people’s purchasing habits.

These brands can mean several aspects of the company combined to form a perception in the consumer’s mind such as products, services, information and experiences. The more unique and interesting a brand the better it will perform. One brand that comes to mind is the Coach Company that manufactures accessories in the retail sector. They produce items such as handbags, purses, belts and other items. Coach has built a strong brand name for themselves by being unique in their style and service and this is primarily the reason that customers create a high demand for their products. This has also allowed the company to maintain an above average price for their products compared with their competitors with the knowledge that consumers would pay that higher price. Segmentation is another way that companies target the consumer to satisfy their needs and companies use this technique to target where they should market their products. There are various criteria that companies use to segment their products and some of them are geographic, demographic, psycho graphic and behavioral.

They would use factors such as how populated and area is or how wealthy the population of a specific area is and target products that fit that mold. This has proved to be a very successful tactic for companies in marketing. Marketing channels are also used by companies to reach their consumers. They use three types of marketing channels which are communications, distribution and service channels. Communications is important to get the company’s message out to the public and this could be in many forms such as the radio, television, the internet, posters and the like. They also need to distribute their products to the consumer and this means they will need a physical location like a store, or be a wholesaler and have others retail your products for you and also sell your products on the internet. Service channels are needed to effect transactions with the consumers and these could be banks for credit card purchases and transportation companies such as UPS to deliver the products to homes and businesses.

Marketing has relied on four marketing skills and tools and they are the sales force, advertising, sales promotion and marketing research, they must also use brand building, customer relations, telemarketing and others to make their product selling become reality. Companies must also function ethically and honestly to serve the consumer in the best possible manner. Marketing in the United States is unique in the world because it has evolved and changed over the years to blend in with the capitalistic society we live in in the US. This also means that some of the marketing we use in this country can only work with the credit system we currently have. This is not so in other parts of the world even in industrialized countries. So I would view marketing in the United States as one of the spokes in the wheel that makes our economy such a giant as it is today.

Part B

Regarding the second argument ‘Marketing shapes consumer needs and wants.’ I have to also agree with this statement. My reasons are many and varied. After seeing so many television commercials and advertisements both on the Internet and on newspapers I have concluded that some companies construct their ads to create a need in the consumer’s mind even if originally they were not interested in the product. I took some time to research some of the words that advertisements commonly use and I found an interesting mix of words and phrases. The word ‘free’ is the most common denominator I found in the ads, free is used in combinations such as free home trial, free inspection, buy one get one free, free installation, free estimates, free parking, free demonstration and free consultation. The word free is usually a powerful catalyst that springs the consumer into buying that particular product or idea even though he or she might not need it. I think other terms also kind of bait people into buying things they don’t need.

Terms such as ‘no payments till 2010’ or ‘money back guarantee’ ‘no down payment’ ‘offer good while supplies last’ help dissipate any doubts that the consumer may have and spur them on to make the purchase. “Because the goal is to get customers’ attention, persuade and create demand, market segmentation has historically been based on variables that correlate to creating demand: geography, age, gender, income, education, occupation and other traditional demographics, as well as psychographics around personality, lifestyle, values and attitudes. It works because these attributes are helpful for defining how to effectively speak to different groups of people.”

Some companies do act unethical in their advertising, for example I have seen some ads on the internet especially where companies would advertise a product and make it very appealing to the consumer then at the very bottom is tiny fonts the word ‘restrictions apply’ they would hide the link that takes you to where the restrictions are listed. So if you happen to buy that product without reading the fine print and something happens that you are not satisfied or want to return the item the company would refuse and make reference to their restriction policy. Other tactics that companies use to shape consumers needs and wants is to use celebrities or other famous people to sell their products. A good example of a company would be Nike. Nike teamed up with Michael Jordan to create marketing giant. One of the themes behind their partnership was to create the desire within consumers that if they wore Michael Jordan’s sneakers they could play basketball or jump as high as him.

This was directed primarily towards the younger consumers and turned out to be a huge marketing success. Companies also take advantage of world events or changes in the economy to come out with new products. A good example is the ever increasing popularity of hybrid cars. This has been brought about by gas prices going up and the economy slowing down. However the increase in hybrid cars has led to a marked decrease of large SUV vehicles. In the past we used to associate hybrid cars with car companies such as Toyota and Honda, but nowadays companies such as Lincoln, Ford and others are coming out with hybrid vehicles. This has been a necessity of them to compete in today’s changed car market.

However advertising is not the only force that drives the consumer. Most companies do a lot of research before releasing an advertisement in getting a feel of what the consumers really desire. There is a constant interaction with the public in studying what is in vogue at the time and also what brands people want to be associated with. I have always wondered at why companies come out with new models or new releases at such a quick pace. This tactic is basically mainly a tweak or an enhancement of the previous model or version in order to create the perception of a totally new product which in turn creates more demand for the product.

Good examples of these products would be software, Microsoft is especially good at coming out with new versions of their products. For example with the release of Microsoft Vista operating system it meant that people had to upgrade their computers also because their existing hardware could not support Microsoft Vista’s requirements. In conclusion, newer firms tend to lean more towards creating needs because the public does not yet know about their products. Established companies are more interested in fulfilling the existing needs of consumers. These companies are already known and their products have already being deemed essential to their lives so they would continue buying their products even with little or no advertisement.

Bad Credit Loan – Let's Cut Through the Hype!

Bad credit loans seem to be a hot topic these days. In fact, if you need a bad credit loan, you're likely to find an overabundance of information.

See if this sounds familiar. You need a loan. Maybe you want to buy a car, enroll in college, or take out a home improvement loan. Or depending you're a first time home buyer and you're looking for a mortgage. The problem is, you've got a bad credit history, and you're afraid you will not be able to find a lender.

But then you do a little research on bad credit loans and find that, lo and behold, there ARE loans for people with bad credit available! In fact, EVERYONE wants to give you a loan. Loans for cars, mortgage loans, student loans, personal loans, loans for just about anything you want. Not only loans, but credit cards too. Why, who would have ever thought is would be so easy to get a loan when your credit history is so dismal?

So, that's great news, right? RIGHT?

Let's just stop for a moment. Ask yourself "Why is everyone so eager to extend credit to me when my credit history is so bad?"

The question can be answered in two words – HIGH RATES. Sure, you can get a bad credit loan easily enough. But you'll "pay through the nose" when it comes to the interest rate.

So "What's the 'big deal' about paying a little higher rate?" You ask.

Let's look at a few figures.

Suppose you want to buy a car. After looking long and hard, you find the "perfect" car for $ 20,000. So you apply for a car loan and get a loan with no trouble, but because of your poor credit, you have to pay 20% interest. On a 60 month loan, your monthly payments will be $ 529.88.

Now if your credit were very good, you might have gotten the same 60 month loan at an interest rate as low as 10%, with monthly payments of $ 424.94.

The bottom line is, over the life of the loan you'll have paid an additional $ 6,296.40 in interest that you would not have paid if you had gotten the loan at 10% interest. Your bad credit loan will have cost you $ 6,296 more FOR THE SAME CAR!

But if you think that's bad, take a look at a home mortgage loan!

Suppose you want to buy a $ 100,000 home and you're just thrilled to find a lender willing to give you a 30 year loan in spite of your bad credit. He'll charge you 12% interest, and your monthly payment will be $ 1,028.61.

If your credit had not been so bad, you could have gotten the loan for a rate closer to 9%. If your credit had been very good, you might have been charged only 6% interest and your monthly payment would have been $ 599.55.

The bottom line? That bad credit loan will have cost you (over the 30 year term) a staggering $ 154,461.60 MORE than you would have paid had you gotten a loan at the 6% rate.

No, this is NOT a typo. Your lender will pocket $ 154,461.60 in additional interest payments because you were charged a higher rate for a bad credit loan. That's over 1 tim times the cost of the house itself!

So why did he charge you the higher rate? Because he knows he can get it! After all, he's got you "over a barrel." He knows (and you know) that you need a loan, but because of your bad credit no one's going to give you one at a low interest rate.

Do you see now why people are so eager to lend you money in spite of your bad credit? In fact, credit reporting companies make a fortune selling lenders the names of people who have bad credit. Those lenders know they can charge them high rates, and that if they need credit, they have no choice but to pay them.

So what's the solution? You may be thinking "What choice do I have anyway? My credit is bad, I need a loan to get a house (or car, college education, or whatever) and there's just nothing I can do about it except find a lender willing to Give me a loan at whatever interest rate I can get! "

But consider for a moment whether you might be looking at the situation from a completely wrong angle. Rather than resign yourself to the situation, you should be thinking about repairing your credit.

Now if you just found the house of your dreams, you may have no choice but to act now before someone else buys it. But if you can wait a couple of months, it's highly likely you can make some major improvement in your credit score and THEN look for a loan.

Maybe this is not what you wanted to hear. After all, you're looking for a loan, NOT credit repair advice. But would not it be worth it to postpon getting that house or that car if it would save you thousands, tens of thousands, or perhaps even $ 150,000.00 or more over the long haul?

If you're thinking your bad credit history is something you're just stuck with, or that that will take years to improve, you're mistaken. It's often possible to make major improvements in your credit rating in just a few months, and in some cases in as little as 30 days!

It's not that difficult either. You basically have 2 options. You can hire a "Credit Repair Agency" or you can take the "do it yourself" approach.

If you decide to hire an agency, you can easily find one in your phone book or online. Just look for "credit repair." However, it will not be cheap. Agencies usually charge from $ 2,500 to $ 5,000 or more to repair your credit. But that's still a bargain compared to how much you'll be saving in the long run.

But if you think only a professional agency can fix your credit, think again! In spite of their high fees, they will not do anything for you that you can not easily do for yourself. If you can write a few letters, address, stamp, and mail them you can repair your own credit.

If you choose the "do it yourself" route (recommended) you can learn how by doing some online research. Unfortunately, along with all the good information you'll find some misinformation as well. A better option is to find an authorative book on credit repair and follow the advice therein.

In conclusion, you should seriously consider postponing your search for a bad credit loan. First spend a couple of months improving your credit rating. Then you can abandon the search altogether, and begin looking for a GOOD credit loan!

England is a beautiful country and is a part of the United Kingdom. There are many counties in England that makes it easy for Government to maintain the law and order.

Here is brief description of Greater London:

Greater London

Greater London is the top level administrative sub division covering London, England. In 1965 the administrative area was officially created which covers city of London, including Middle Temple and Inner Temple. Its area also forms London European Parliament Constituency.

Till now, this region had the highest GDP per capita in United Kingdom. Its area is about 1572 square km. In the east it is bounded by the home counties of Essex and Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Kent in South East England.

Westerham Heights, in the North Downs is the highest point in Greater London at 245m (804 ft). London is the only English region which has directly local governance. Kitchen Design Basics – Cup Hinges

Consideration of door hardware may seem like an insignificant consideration when it comes to contemplating a major kitchen remodeling project. In fact there are some important decisions to be made regarding door hardware, and in particular door hinges. There are several general types of hinges. Use, aesthetics and budget are the primary driving forces when it comes to making a final selection.

My preferred hinges are called cup hinges. They have two primary component; One is installed on the door and one mounted on the cabinet. The door element requires a bored hole in the rear of the door frame. The main body of the hinge then is positioned into the bored hole and is secured with screws. This system results in a very strong connection due to the bore / hinge fit. Another advantage of cup hinges is that once the door is installed, the prerequisite positioning of the door is easily adjusted with a set of adjustment screws that allow a variety of adjustment; The door can be adjusted towards or away from the cabinet, left and right and vertically.

Cup hinges are also adaptable to any type of cabinet construction: frameless, face frame, and even inset doors can be mounted with cup hinges. It turns out there are a number of different hinge mechanisms and mounting plates. By marrying different hinges and plates together, an almost unlimited number of geometries are obtainable.

If you're planning a kitchen remodeling project, consider using modern cup hinges. Their ease of use and adjustment are well worth the small extra expense.

Military Helicopters – The AH-64 Apache

The AH-64 Apache is the primary helicopter gunship of the United States Army. When it was developed, it was designed to halt a Soviet armor advance into Western Europe. Several features were built into the airframe which greatly increase pilot and aircraft survivability.

The AH-64 is flown and cooked by a crew of two. The pilot and co-pilot sit in tandem with the pilot sitting in the rear cockpit which is slightly above the co-pilot / gunner. Both cockpits are enclosed by a titanium tub which is able to withstand hits from rounds up to 23mm in size.

The Apache is powered by two General Electric T700-GE-701C turboshaft engines which produce 1890 shaft horsepower each. This gives the helicopter a top speed of 160 kts (185 mph) but more importantly the Apache is able to operate in hot / high conditions such as the mountains of Afghanistan and Iraq where every extra bit of extra power is appreciated.

The helicopter is the successor to the AH-1 Cobra which was developed during Vietnam and has seen action in numerous conflicts. It's more heavily armed than the Cobra and is capable of carrying AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, Hydra rockets, AIM 92 Stinger missiles, AIM 9L Sidewinder missiles as well as its M23 30mm chain gun which is capable of penetrating main battle tank armor.

The AH-64 is able to self deploy by attaching four 230 gallon fuel tanks. A more likely scenario although the helicopter being airlifted by a C-5, C-17, C-141 or being delivered by sea-lift.

Once in theater the Apache is able to operate through out the entire area of responsibility and is able to operate day and night in most weather conditions.

One of the greatest advances from the AH-1 Cobra to the AH-64 Apache is the avionics package especially the targeting and navigation ability of the helicopter.

The crew uses a Target Aquisition Desigination Sight (TADS) and a Pilot Night Vision Sensor (PNVS) to navigate to, target and attack the enemy. These systems receive targeting data from the following three sensors:

  1. Day TV-Shows images in black and white. Used during the daytime when low light levels are present.
  2. TADS / FLIR- Shows thermal images that are able to be magnified. Used during day, night, and adverse weather conditions
  3. DVO- Shows full color images that can be magnified. Used during daylight and dusk conditions.

The Apache is also able to use the terrain to its advantage. The crew is able to hover below the treeline, or behind a hill to mask the helicopter. They also use Nap Of The Earth (NOE) flight to further reduce the possibility of detection.

The Apache is a very capable helicopter and gives the United States Army a potent weapon not only in the fight against terrorism but also against more conventional foes.

Resistance to What-Is Is a Prison Without Bars

Resistance feels bad. In fact, at times it feels as bad, or worse, than what you resist. At the very least, it amplifies the negative energy you’re feeling, which is fear-based in one way or another. When you amplify the energy you feel, you amplify your transmission of it to the field that matches your transmission, as though it was an order that you’ve placed to be filled. (Please keep in mind that this works for positive energy, as well.)

I found myself facing this when things were not going as I would have preferred in a particular instance in my life, and appeared to be possibly escalating. Resistance welled up in me. Imagined undesired scenarios were called forth by my ego-aspect. I could practically hear my ego-aspect shouting, “No, no, no! I don’t want that!” Fortunately, I realized what I was doing. Fortunately, I understand, even though I temporarily forget-especially when I’m feeling strong emotions, that what is resisted persists. That whatever energy is transmitted gets matched. That resistance never makes me feel better, only worse.

So I told myself what will be will be, and that if there was any more to say, think, or feel about this, it was best to ask for the strength and wherewithal to step up to the plate and perform to the best of my ability at the inner and outer levels, if stepping up did become required of me. This eased the energy, and what my ego-aspect wanted to resist didn’t manifest as fully as it might have… this time. In a bit, I explain why “this time” is important to include.

Resistance is very much like pressing on a bruise or a wound and complaining that it hurts to do that. Why do we resist? Maybe it’s because we focus more on what we want and don’t want than on how we want to be and don’t want to be like. Do we actually resist events or do we actually resist how we may be during and as a result of events? Are the two independent of each other? These questions are worth pondering.

Maybe we can help ourselves if we deepen our understanding of what we resist and why, because there’s more than one form of what-is that we resist. Let’s take a look at them so we can more easily identify them when they surface.

Of-the-moment what-is: This form is what’s happening in the moment we’re in. If it’s not what we prefer or desire, we resist that it’s happening at all. But what we need to remember is that while an event is happening, the dynamics are still in motion. The outcome is not necessarily a given; so we have a level of flexibility to shift our perspective, the dynamics, and the outcome. Resistance to what’s happening won’t get us where we want to go or lead us to how we want to be. Choosing how and who we want to be will.

What-is du jour: When we wake each day, this form is the one we believe reflects the predominant state of our life. It’s the one we can replace resistance to with acceptance that what has already happened has happened or is in play at this time, an intention to shift it, and a plan we follow to shift it or us, whether the action energy of this is inner, outer, or both.

What-may-be: We resist this form because we feel not in control of the dynamics, and we don’t like that feeling at all. It’s the one where an understanding of how Law of Attraction works would serve us, though this knowledge and practice serves us in any of the what-is forms. This form is one where our reliance on Trust in Source and ourselves would benefit us, as well as Trust about what will be: there’s always more going on than just what we see close up, and all things end and result in new beginnings.

What-will-be: We share “reality” with others who have their own dynamics in process and progress, as well as their own beginnings and endings; with Mother Nature; and with what goes on in the universe beyond our Earth home, which is where “this time” fits in. Resistance is a waste of energy here. Better to prepare and strengthen ourselves at both the inner and outer levels, but especially the inner. It’s also when “What can I do?” or “How can I help or be of service?” are questions that can guide us through the dynamics and the outcomes. We may not feel good about events that unfold, but we can choose to do what causes us to feel integrity toward ourselves in relation to our thoughts, words, and actions as they relate to events and shifts.

What-was: This form is often confused by our ego-aspect with what-is du jour. We call it the past, and we resist it, even though the only thing there is to resist in real-time is the thoughts we engage about what-was. Granted, results of what-was may affect or influence what-is du jour, but our resistance to what has happened or what has changed from what used to be, often rules our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions-energies we could put to better use to create as much of what we prefer at the inner and outer levels of our experiences of ourselves and life.

Resistance, especially sustained resistance, is a prison without bars. Resistance keeps us from seeing the truth about what we are truly capable of, what our true strengths are, and how creative and supportive we can actually be. It causes us to forget we are co-creators, that we are compassionate, that we are never alone (Source is always, always with us), and that there is always a bigger picture in play. Resistance is a mental, emotional, spiritual, or life-experience prison we put ourselves in, a prison that we alone can release ourselves from.

Resistance happens and it’s understandable why it does, because it is ultimately about feelings: the ones we don’t want to allow into and as our experience. However, we don’t have to let it run or ruin our experiences and our lives. When you feel resistance, maybe it will help you to identify which form it is so you can understand why you’re feeling it, which can help you figure out what to do about it so you can free yourself from its Velcro-like grip on you.

Realize that your life experience is not as much about how you want to feel as it is about how you want to feel about you. Then you’ll be able to tune into conscious awareness, or choose to do so, so you make decisions and take actions from head-and-heart alignment rather than resistance-reaction. The two most powerful aspects you can aim for, and which can assist you out of resistance, are genuine appreciation and integrity. It’s a good practice, one you’ll appreciate.

Practice makes progress.

If you are new to having natural hair you might find that you have a few basic questions about styling, using heat, and general care. Here we have compiled some of the most frequently asked questions regarding caring for natural hair.

How do I do a successful braid / twist out? There are 3 elements to a successful twist or braid out style:

  • The size of the twists or braids. If your twists or braids are too big or too small, the style will not look right. You need to experiment with the size of the sections you use to create the wave or curl pattern that you like best. In general, if the braids or twists are too small you will get a crimpy looking style, if they are too big, you might not get the amount of waves or curls that you were expecting for. A general good size for longer hair is to have a twist or braid that is about 3/4 inch thick.
  • The products used. You want to use the proper moisturizing and shine products so that the resulting texture in the curls or waves is shiny and it holds. You will need to experiment with the amount of hair gel or shine serum to use on each braid or twist to achieve the desired result. Straightening serums for flat ironing or blow drying often work very well for these styles even though you are not applying heat.
  • The dryness of the hair when the braids or twists are removed. Make sure that your hair is completely dry before removing the braids or twists. Its best to set under a bonnet hair dryer to get the hair properly dry. Otherwise you have to allow it to air dry for a significant amount of time.

It's a good idea to take pictures and note the products and technique that you use every time you try a new style so that you can recall what worked or did not work and duplicate or make adjustments the next time.

How can I finish the ends on my braid / twist out styles? Use a perm rod, pipe cleaner or roller on the ends to give the final look a good polish.

Do I need to twist transitioning or natural hair every day? No. You only need to twist your hair as often as you need to keep it looking as neat as you want it to look. If you wear a curly style where your hair is "out" it is a good idea to re-twist it with some moisturizer to infuse it and keep it moist. You can choose to retwist it every night before you sleep on it to keep the style looking more tidy.

How do I prevent knots in kinky hair? You can prevent knots by avoiding a lot of manipulation of the hair, keeping your hair in protective styles, and keeping your hair moisturized. It also helps to sleep with your hair covered with a satin scarf and sleep on a satin pillowcase. Also, whenever you comb out your hair, make sure to do so when it is wet with conditioner in it. Do not try to comb through dry hair. This causes breakage which can leads to knots in the frayed ends.

How do I prevent or cure frizzy ends? The best prevention for frizzy ends is proper moisturizing and proper care. Never comb or brush your hair when it is dry. Twisting your hair and then sealing the ends with an oil and moisturizer mix is a great way to tame frizzy ends. Other things to make sure of are to:

  1. Trim or get your hair trimmed on a regular basis (every 6 – 8 weeks)
  2. Avoid too much combing, brushing, and manipulation
  3. Wear protective styles often and be sure to moisturize while your hair is in the style

How do I roll or set my hair without getting frizzy ends? Use endpapers to cover the end of the hair before you put it on the roller. Also add a bit more of product to the end of your hair and smooth it out over the roller before you roll it up. This is also a great way of moisturizing and sealing your ends to protect them.

What is the best way to curl kinky hair? The absolute best way to curl kinky hair is doing a twist out style using pipe cleaners to curl the ends. If you want a more straightened look, blow dry the hair then twist and use pipe cleaners.

Are wraps good for relocating and natural hair? A wrap is when you brush the hair tightly around the head so that it naturally straights or flattens out to achieve a straightened style. This can be bad for the hair because the process of combing or brushing through your hair in that way could be damaging specifically to the delicate line of demarcation where natural hair meets relaxed hair. Also, your kinky / curly hair will probably not submit to the wrapping process as well as you might like. It is better to start getting used to your natural texture and try more textured styles such as braid-out or twist-out styles.

Should I roll or set my hair when it is wet or when it is dry? You can roll your hair wet or dry, however it is always better for your hair to do a roll set on wet hair after it has been washed. This is because your hair does not have to end the stress of drying, regardless of how you dry it. One of my favorite styles, though, is to blow dry my hair and then do a roller set or twist out. Especially if hair is shorter, this gives a little more length and shine. When you roll hair wet it comes out more tight to the head, but it usually also comes out shinier and with more body. Try different methods to find out what works best for you.

How can I get my twist extensions to stay twisted? If you are using synthetic hair you can dip the end of the twist extension into boiling hot water to "set" the hair and make it stay twisted. This is also a great method to use if you want to curl the synthetic hair.

  • Wrap the hair around a perm rod, roller (the smaller the better), or a pipe cleaner (I just discovered this one) making sure to secure the ends. You can do up to 2 or 3 extensions on one roller depending on the thickness. Doing 1 per roller gives the best result.
  • Dip the roller into very hot water after you have the hair securely wrapped. Usually you would boil the water then pour it into another container where you can dip the extensions in. Do not try to dip your hair over the stove !!!
  • Dip the roller into cold water. Following the hot dip with a cool dip secures the curl.
  • Remove the rollers. You should have a head of lovely curls. Experiment with how far up the shaft of the extension you roll the curl. You may want to only do the ends, or you might want to try and curl the whole extension.

Maintenance: If you do not like the result or get tired of the curls, you can re-straighten the hair by dipping it into hot water without rollers. You might be able to curl the hair one more time after you re-straighten it, but that is about as much as the synthetic hair can take. Because of the effect that heat has on synthetic hair you might notice that the curls loosen or fall out if you wash your hair in hot water. Just keep the temperature cooler when you wash to maintain the curls. This is also a classic way to keep braided extensions from unraveling or for curling the ends. Another method is to tie a knot at the end of the extension, or braid it at the end. But the hot water method is the best.

What is the best way to blow dry natural or transitioning hair? You need to have a quality hair dryer, preferably with adjustable heat settings and with a comb attachment. After that, your main goal is to dry your hair quickly and with minimal breakage. Section your hair then work from tip to root combing / blowing through each section until it is dry. Do not put on any product except heat protectant until after the hair is dry. Having product on the hair causes it to take longer to dry.

How to I flat iron my transition or natural hair? To flat iron or straighten your hair you want to make sure that you have a blow dryer with a comb attachment, a very good flat iron, and the following products:

  • Straightening serum
  • Anti-frizz product
  • Heat protectant
  • Moisture block
  • Natural oil

Beyond using the correct products, you'll also have to use the right technique specifically to make sure that you do not cause damage to your hair. Use the lowest heat setting that will still straighten your hair. Do small sections and run the flat iron over your hair from root to tip. Only pass the flat iron over your hair 2 or 3 times.

Which is better pressing or flat ironing when I want to straighten my natural or transitioning hair? Using a flat iron is more "controlled" … especially if you use a heater with your pressing comb. With pressing combs, you usually use the stove to heat it up, or you use a pressing comb heater. Both get really hot and the heat is very unpredictable. Electric pressing combs are also sold, but these are extremely unpredictable in their heat settings. The heat distribution on a flat iron is more stable, and you can usually control it to make it cooler or hotter. Also with a pressing comb you have to physically comb through your hair … you'll inevitably end pulling out more strands than you would with the flat iron.

What are the best coloring products for natural or transitioning hair? When coloring natural hair it is important to look for coloring products with non-peroxide and non-ammonia. That usually narrows it down pretty fast. Hair coloring without those ingredients is least damaging to the hair. If you are going from light to dark, covering grays, or are going red you might also try henna. Natural henna powder will also work for darkening or reddening. You'll have to experiment with which colors work best with the natural tones and highlights in your hair. Henna also adds the benefit of conditioning and strengthening your hair.

Advantages of Solar Panels

A solar panel is a device that is used to absorb energy from the sun in order to generate heat or in many cases electricity. It is also referred to as a photovoltaic cell since it is made of many cells that are used to convert the light from the sun into electricity. The only raw material for these solar panels is the sun. It is made in such a way that the cells face the sun in order to enable maximum absorption of the sun rays. The greater energy from the sun is, the more the electricity that is generated. Solar panels are used in many homesteads in the world due to their many pros that are far more than cons. Some of these pros are discussed below.

One very important advantage of using solar panels is that they do not emit any gases that are common in green homes. The panels do not emit any smoke, chemical or heavy metals that can be risk factors to human health. Solar panels are there before environmental friendly when compared to burning of fossil fuels to generate energy. This is very important since carbon emissions are dangerous and avoiding their emission helps in safeguarding our present and future environment. Being environment friendly is important since the government is constantly coming up with ways to control global warming and the use of solar panels is a great way to start. The solar panels therefore maintain a clean setting and they leave the air fresh. More importantly they help in prevention of many cancer incidences. This is because some products from some sources of energy like nuclear energy have been said to cause cancer due to initiation of mutations in cells.

Secondly, use of solar panels ensures ungoing free energy for those who use it. This is mainly because the only cost incurred is that of installation. Once the installation has been done the energy is free since the panel does not require regular maintenance or fuel to run it. It also requires no raw materials for its operation. It works as long as there are sun rays which is an everyday thing in most parts of the world. In a world where equal distribution of resources is continuously being thought, this is very important since each and everyone has equal rights when it comes to use of solar energy. This is because the energy from the sun falls on all. This is a good way to maintain equality as compared with energy from fossil fuel which low income homesteads do not afford in many cases.

There is also the advantage in that, the use of solar panels enable the decentralization of power. This is very important since it is very cheap. This is mainly because when power is not decentralized, it has to be shared by all and is as a result transported to many areas. With this happening, there are very many costs that are incurred. These include; The wear and tear of vehicles, the air pollution among others. These costs are all incorporated in the electricity bills of individuals as the government does not cover the expenses. It is therefore more advantageous to use solar panels as a saving plan and to create a sense of fairness since those in power tend to take advantage and use their positions to embezzle funds. This is not fair on the citizens' part. This is because most of them struggle to make ends meet.

A solar panel can be operated off grid. This is a great advantage for those who live in very isolated areas or in rural regions. Off grid means that the house is not connected to the state's electricity grid. This has the advantage of low cost since installation may be very expensive for those living in isolated areas. These individuals have their own power lines disconnected in many instances due to the fact that it is sometimes less affordable for many. Solar panels offer a solution for this since they do not require as much to be installed. However, those living in towns can also use the off-grid technique. An added advantage in this is that there are no rules governing whether or not one wants to operate off-grid or on-grid when it comes to use of solar panels. This however is an issue when using fossil fuel generated electricity.

Solar panels generate job opportunities. This is of great importance since there is a very high rate of unemployment in the world today. These jobs are come about in the form of, manufacturing of the solar panels, research about further improvements, maintenance, development and cultural integration. With the continued presence of the sun, these jobs are guaranteed since there is ongoing improvements and modification of this device. Jobs like maintenance and installation do not require a long-term training and are therefore more advantageous for those who do not have many skills and are unemployed.

Use of solar energy is safe from price manipulations and politics. The fact that there are no raw materials that are solely controlled by monopolies ensures that there is no manipulation of prices as is the case with fossil fuels. With fossil fuels, the prices can rise as high as the monopolizing powers controlling them want. There is also less competitiveness with use of solar panels since there is no fight over such things as oil fields and other raw materials. Although the government has started addressing the issue of solar panels, there is little influence they can have in price manipulation. This is because no one controls the main raw material.

There is also less environmental destruction with the use of a solar panel. This is because there are no cases of mining or extraction of raw materials that historically lead to destruction of forests and water catchment areas. With the use of solar panels, there is less of this and there before there are steady rainfalls that greatly boost production and consequentially the national income of each and every country. Many countries face problems of famine due to destruction of forests to get fuel. This can be invented by using solar panels.

There is an advantage of reliability in using solar panels. This is because there is ability to predict the amount of sun to expect each and every day. Therefore one is a guarantee of energy. The devices are also made in such a way that they can absorb sun rays even when there are a few clouds and the sun rays are not very strong. The solar energy is also renewable. It can therefore be used on and on without getting depleted. Although solar energy can not be used at night, it operates full force during the day which is of great importance. The energy can also be stored in form of batteries for use at night.

Everyone loves some peace and quiet. This is something you get when you use solar panels. This is because they are very silent. There is no noise that gives away the fact that the solar panel is there apart from the fact that you can see it. This is a good thing since it makes the environment peaceful compared to wind and water generated power supplies which have moveable parts that are quite loud and destruct the peace. Solar panels are therefore good for use for people living in estates where hoses are close to each other. This is because with silence, peace is maintained between the neighbors.

When installing solar panels, there is no large scale installation required. They therefore require very little space to install. This is very important when it comes to fast growing regions and towns. The installation will mainly involve a single cell to continuously generate energy. Here a homestead requires a single cell. There is there before no congestion and a continued supply to the high demand of energy. This maintains a good image in a community since crowding may make the place less attractive which may prevent people from moving to the area since everyone wants to live somewhere they consider beautiful, for this reason, use of solar panels does not interfere with real estate sales .

Solar panels are durable. This is because there are no moving parts in the device. This therefore reduces the chance of it being destructed. It is possible to use a solar panel for a very long period of time without having to purchase another, studies estimate that it can last for over ten years. Such a device is beneficial because it reduces the stress that comes about when a machine stops running because something became lost or worn out. There is also reduced maintenance cost since it is less sooner to wear. This generally makes the device very easy to handle for a person with very little skills in handling a solar panel.

Many companies that invest in solar energy get the advantage of higher profits. This is because they cut back on costs incurred in electricity and the rest of the profits are in most cases used to expand the business. This is very advantageous. Statistics show that the companies that use solar panels have greater returns compared to those that use other sources of energy. This may be due to the fact that electricity can be very expensive and may make these companies not afford allot of assets. This is especially evident in small or new companies. There is also an advantage that clients get when they get services from a company that uses clean energy. This is the fact that they can get access to government incentives that are made available to these companies.

Use of solar panels enables individuals and companies to enjoy the benefits of low taxes. This is because in most parts of the world, the taxes that are charged are about thirty percent less as compared to using other sources of energy. With all the taxes that one has to pay for every item purchased, this is a great opportunity to reduce spending on taxes. Since there is no monthly bill when using a solar panel, it makes it tax free. When using fossil fuel energy, this is no option since one has has to pay their electricity on a monthly basis which in most cases is heavily taxed.

The size of solar panel required per meter to give maximum energy small. When there is full sun, one is able to get about one thousand watts per meter. This is equivalent to about 2900-watt hours per day. However this depends on the area in which you are locations, the time of the year and the strength in which the sun rays reach the solar panel. For this reason, there are times where one gets more energy compared to others. However the energy gives the desired effect even at low intensity and is therefore still very reliable.

It is highly unlikely to hear that someone got injured when using a solar panel. This is because there are few cases of electric shocks that are very frequent when using other sources of electricity. It is therefore safe to use solar panels for people. This creates fewer incidences of emergencies. However, careful measures should be taken as directed by the person that does the installation since there are instances where cables are left bare and could cause shock when touched. This is rare when the wiring is done correctly. Care should also be taken since the roof could be constantly emitting electricity.

Solar panels are not prone to destruction by harsh environmental conditions. For this reason, they are not easily destructed, this is important since the device is placed outside in order to absorb sun rays. The good thing about this is that it can be used by people who live in areas where the weather is up and down in most cases.

All these are great advantages that come with using solar panels. Solar panels can be used in any setting, whether in schools, homes or companies

Tips to Planning a Graduation Party

Planning a graduation party is not an easy task. This is a very delicate party that may result in deep wounds that are refreshed by the memory every time that it is unintentionally ignored by old pals and friends talking about the past or simply being nostalgic.

First of all, there are two types of graduation parties. The first one is the group graduation party where all the graduates have fun and interact with their fellow graduates and teachers or professors. The other type of graduation party is the one celebrated in the comforts of ones home with the family after the group graduation or with a few friends of a graduate or a few graduates in a restaurant.

In the group graduation type of party, you should be able to determine the exact total number of people who are celebrating including the graduates' family, friends and whoever is invited to the graduation. This is very important so that there will be no food shortage when the party commences. Nothing is more annoying when you are in a party and having fun then you go stand up and get some food and find out that there is nothing left. This is the exact reason why planning graduation party is very delicate. Remember that it is always better to have leftover food after a party than to have nothing left of the food even before the party ends.

Another thing you should take note is to know the common interests of the graduations to be able to produce a program that could give them optimal entertainment. This is possible through identifying the graduates' demographics such as age, gender and lifestyle. After doing so you will be able to have a clear picture on what program you should be working on. A good example is creating a ramp model program for a batch that is all boys where the models are all girls. This will definitely create entertainment, satisfaction and fun while capturing the attention of the graduates.

For the second type of a graduation party, things are much simpler due to the fact that only a few people are attending it. It is very hard to plan the exact head count for this type of party so it would be best to have a higher than usual estimate of the number of people coming especially if you are a parent whose child is congenial.

Just remember that if you do things right, planning graduation party is going to be a piece of cake.

The Male Deer Exercise

The Taoist deer exercise was developed by observing the actions of deer in the wild. The ancient Taoist observed that the deer had a strong sex drive and they adapted the exercise for human use.

The deer exercise helps to connect the mind, body and spirit. In fact, the deer exercise is a mental, physical and spiritual exercise in one. By performing the deer exercise, you will come to realize that sex is a spiritual experience as well as mental and physical.

There are many benefits to the deer exercise. The exercise balances the body. The Taoist refer to seven glands, but they are similar to the seven charkas. The deer exercise draws energy through the seven glands to the pineal gland. This idea is similar to the concept of drawing energy up from the root to the crown charka.

When the energy hits the pineal gland, there is a tingling sensation though the entire body similar to the experience of orgasm. If there is a disruption in energy flow in any of the seven glands, the energy will not make it to the pineal gland until that energy imbalance is filled. Regular performance of the deer exercise will help bring energy to all the seven glands.

The deer exercise is also used in spiritual manifestation to allow for sexual transmutation. Sexual energy is saved and converted in to creative energy through sexual transmutation and the deer exercise.

The deer exercise also has the benefit of prolonging intercourse. If other artificial means of prolonging intercourse are used, damage to the prostate can occur over time. However; by practicing the deer exercise and training the prostate muscles, sexual encounters can last much longer.

Normal sexual intercourse ends when semen is expelled from the prostate. However; through use of the deer exercise and training the muscles, the male can experience multiple orgasms without ejaculation and without losing vital energy. Once the deer exercise is mastered, the male feels refreshed and energized after sex rather than tired and sleepy. Advanced users of the deer exercise can also practice the deer exercise as a means of birth control.

The deer exercise is best done in the nude. It can be done while sitting, standing or lying down. There are two parts.

Begin part one by building up the sexual energy. Rub your hands together vigorously until they feel warm. Then take one hand a cup your testicles. Do not squeeze, just feel the warmth.

Take the other hand and begin to make small circles on your lower abdomen between your navel and penis. You will likely make small knots in your hair, but it is worth it. Rub to feel heat generated. Keep your mind clearly focused on the movements and the feelings. Be gentle and do not try to force anything. Make 81 circles.

Now, rub your hands together again to get them warm. Switch hands and place the other hand on your balls and use the other to rub your belly. This time, make sure that the circles are in the opposite direction from the first set. Do another 81 circles. Keep your mind clearly focused on the motion and the sensations.

Now you are ready for the second part. Tighten the muscles of the anus as if you were trying to pull in air. Think of a deer wiggling its tail. Hold the contraction for as long as comfortable. Do not strain. Then, stop and relax.

Repeat the contraction. Again, focus on tightening the anus muscles as tight and as long as comfortable. Stop and relax again.

After a few repetitions, you will begin to feel a tingle going up your back. This feeling is the movement of energy up through the seven glands. If it stops at some point, you know there is weakness in that area that needs to be addressed. Eventually you will feel a tingle in the back of your neck and the tingle will expand through your body like that of an orgasm. This effect happens when the energy reaches the pineal gland.

You will likely not be able to hold the contraction for very long at a time at first. However; if you continue and practice the exercise twice a day, you will soon strengthen the muscles to the point where you can hold the contraction longer.

If you wish to test if the exercise is strengthening your prostate muscles, you can try this test: While urinating, try to stop the flow and then restart it. As your muscles grow stronger, you will find that you can easily control your stream of urine.

The second part of the exercise can be done anywhere and at any time. It can be used to give yourself a natural energy boost or simply for the pleasurable sensation. If preformed during sexual intercourse, you can achieve multiple orgasms without ejaculating. In this way, you can conserve your sexual energy and transmute it into creative energy.

Famous Horse Jockeys in the 1950’s

The best way to highlight the names that were engraved in the history of Jockeys in the year 1950’s is by mentioning the leaders of the year before. In 1940s the top riders were Adams, Arcaro, Atkinson, Meade and Longden. As they continued to reign over the early 1950’s they were joined by a name that would create havoc in the racing history – Shoemaker. Soon after completing his sophomore years with 388 victories, he was at tie with the leading jockeys’ standings. He was the only one to win over I million USD in the early 1950s.

William Boland was among the top names of the year, making his mark as an apprentice jockey he had left every one aghast with his performance with Hill Prince when he had won by 1 ½ lengths over jockey Arcaro. Major concerns for apprentice jockeys during this time were the varying rules regarding apprenticeship across the world; this led them to jump from one region to the other to retain their apprentice allowances. It was the Jockey’s Guild who brought in standardized rules that were applied all over the world.

The year 1951 was marked by the highest number of deaths among jockeys and that rose to 10 fatalities. The most remembered jockey of 1950s is LeRoy who died on January 12, 1956 after a tragic fall from his mount suffering brain injury. Following that tragic loss the world of horse racing faced another fatal death of John Alessio, the president of Caliente racetrack. After his death the use of a helmet for the jockeys to wear while riding was approved and mandatory; this gained publicity and acceptance as the “Caliente Safety Helmet”, this rule was applied to exercise boys, outriders, apprentices, pony boys and girls.

The talk of the time in the racing industry was whether John Longden would surpass Sir Gordon Richard’s history of having the maximum number of wins in the history of horse racing. Finally, it was John Longden after winning his 320th in one racing season.

The year 1957 saw the remarkable jockeying of Bill Shoemaker and Bill Hartack on Gallant Man and Iron Liege respectively at the Kentucky Derby. Both were along each other fighting through a tough run at Churchill Downs until Shoemaker misjudged the length and fell behind that gave Bill Hartack his first Derby win. Proving that the win was not by chance he went on to winning four of the following derbies, later he retired as the winningest Derby jockeys along with Arcaro.

The following year was marked by the surprising deaths of jockey Jackie Westrope and Joe Snyder after suffering injuries just a week apart.

In 1958 three Jockeys were voted into the Hall of Fame of the National Museum of Racing –

Eddie Arcaro – the only jockey to have won the Triple Crown twice.

Johnny Longden – won more than 5,000 races and was the reigning leader among jockeys for 3 years in a row.

Bill Shoemaker – created all time record of winning 485 races in the year 1953 and held 5 riding titles.

Still surviving through the highest number of fatalities in the year, the Jockeys’ Guild announced in 1958 an additional insurance plan for jockeys providing death benefits of 10,000USD for both active and retired jockeys.

The year ended by the survival of Eddie Arcaro after a sudden fall from his mount, Black Hills at the Belmont Stakes. He also marked the event by winning six races in the same. “The helmet saved me,” Arcaro said – Jockeysguild
