Tips For Starting a Small Business Online

So you want to open your own online retail store. You have visions of web orders rolling in while you take business calls and ship products all in your pajamas. What may sound like a quick and easy idea may prove to be a long road of fruitless searches and monetary loss. Too many people have your same ideas and they may either be more experienced, have a better handle on the web or simply sell the right product at the right time. With the explosion of ecommerce sites, it is now very difficult to carve out your own identity on the web. I have provided a number tips and pointers that I have learned along the way in creating my own site: The Stork Store. I hope that you can learn from my many mistakes and feel more educated about the steps needed to become a successful online business.

Tips for starting a small business online:

Research the competition:

Before you spend any money on the new business idea, research your online competition to make sure this is a profitable venture. Every company has a different business philosophy. Some companies play to the wealthy and upscale by offering higher prices, a more sophisticated website and special perks for spending at their site. Other companies offer extremely low prices on their products in an attempt to undercut their competitors. They are willing to accept lower profit margins if it means an increased sales volume. Make sure that you can find a niche within your product market and it will still be profitable. You want to find a middle ground that will allow you to make money as well as attract customers. There are a few products that I refuse to sell on the web strictly because my competitors are offering the products at wholesale prices. Their trick is to charge a higher shipping rate to make up for the monetary loss. Find out about their return policies and if you can match their ability to accept returns. Do a keyword search on three of your top items you want to sell and see if your product can compete price-wise with the search results. Make sure that the internet is not flooded with your product because it will be harder to gain a ranking among the search engines. It is easier to sell a product that is targeted at a smaller audience than the general public. For example, you may do better selling ceramic pink frogs than selling dog leashes. Fewer people are in the market for a ceramic frog and you may be able to move higher on Yahoo or Google.

Tax id:

Next, register your business and receive a tax id number. Tax identification numbers allow you to purchase a product from a manufacturer (without having to pay tax) and sell it to a consumer. This is known as a "reseller." The tax id number is a federally regulated and used to help the government monitor your business. This number is also required if you have any employees. If you are a sole proprietor, or a person who is personally liable for all obligations, you are able to use your social security number. This may sound like an easy venture, however, if your business is sued, they have the ability to access your personal assets. Do not forget that banks and credit card companies will also require a tax id number in order to open a business account.

Finding products:

Once you have decided that your idea may just float, you need to locate the product vendors. Use the internet, catalogs and yellow pages to locate their phone numbers and websites. Not all sellers will sell to an online store so you need to spend time talking to each company. First, find out if the vendor offers a wholesale program and at what type of discount. It is common for a company to charge you 50% of the consumer's cost. If the product sells in the store for $ 100, then you should be able to purchase it for $ 50. Smaller companies or artists may offer a smaller discount such as 30% -45% so make sure those products will still be profitable for you to sell. Some companies will recommend that you stay within a certain price point so that you do not undercut the competition or grossly profit from a sale.

Find out how they sell to vendors. Many companies sell their products in cases so for example, you would need to purchase six of the same picture frames. Some companies allow you to order one item at a time as long as it adds up to a certain dollar amount. You can purchase 6 different frames but the order must reach $ 100. This affects how you order inventory. If you believe a product can sell easily, you are safe buying in terms of cases. If you are trying a new product, you may not want to commit to 12 of the same pillow. Some companies will allow you to return products that do not sell so make sure to check with their return policy. Typically, if a company accepts a returned product, you are given a store credit towards a future purchase. It is rare that a company will issue a credit check for unsold / returned merchandise but it can happen.

Ask them if they are able to drop ship the product directly to the customer. Drop ship means that the customer places the order through you and you pass it along to the vendor. The vendor ships the product to the customer and charges your account for each order. This is the best solution so you are not responsible for carrying inventory that may not be sold. Most companies require that you carry inventory or place a minimum order so they are guaranteed a certain sales percentage. I have one company that required a $ 250 minimum purchase. They still shipped directly to the customer one order at a time and deducted the money from my initial $ 250 order. I still did not carry inventory and they knew they had a set sales amount.

Some companies are able to blind drop ship so the package looks like it came from your store. The company includes your business cards, invoice, brochures and return address labels at no additional charge. That way a customer can track the order back to you and not to the company. This will help with reoccurring sales from the same customer. They grow to trust you as a supplier and not the vendor directly.

Make sure to ask how the company would like to be paid and what type of terms you can negotiate. Terms are the schedule of your payments. Some sellers will give you discount if you pay immediately. Others will demand that you pay immediately, and some will let you pay over 30 or 60 days. This flexibility will allow you to "float" the cost of the inventory. If you get paid immediately, but do not have to pay the vendor for 30 days, then you benefit. Money has an intrinsic value, and the longer you have it the better you are. If you are carrying inventory then longer terms gives you a chance to sell it and collect the money from your customers before paying the vendor. I had a product that in my mind was a winner. I order 3 cases of them and paid the costs. Two years later I was selling the item at my acquisition cost. So dollar for dollar it looks like I was even, however, I lost the value of the money (interest in the bank, or option to invest in another product) for two years. Check to see if you can pay via credit card so you get the rewards on your credit card or if they only accept a check. When starting with a new vendor, many require references that show you have purchased items before and are reliable for payments. It is OK if you have never sold a product. Let the company know that you are a start up and ask if they can either keep a credit card on file or will waive the required references.

Double check that you can use the company's product images on your site. Some companies allow you to pull images directly from their site, some will send you the picture files and others will not allow pictures to be added to your site. Companies that restrict use of their images are typically concerned that you will distort or modify the picture so that it no longer resembles their product.

Questions to ask the vendor

1. Do you offer a wholesale program?

2. Do you sell to online retailers?

3. What is the acquisition price / recommended retail price?

4. Is there a minimum order required (either a monetary figure or amount of product)?

5. Can they drop ship to your customers?

6. Can they include your information in their packaging?

7. Is there any pricing restrictions on the item?

8. What type of payment is accepted?

9. What type of terms do they offer?

10. Can you use their images on your website?

11. Can you use their product word on your website?

Create a Website:

The first step in creating a website is to think of your domain name, or the name people will use to look up your site. For example, my store is called The Stork Store and my domain name is http://www.thestorkstore.com . I searched for a registrar company that provides domain names (I used GoDaddy due to cheap rates). Many times, your name is taken and you need to play around with spelling or find a new company name. I recommend using a simple name that explains your business and is spelled correctly. Go with a .com ending instead of other endings to your name as this is more common and less confusing. Once your name is registered, you can either begin to develop your website or locate a hosting company.

The hosting company is where you will house your website files and data. They charge a monthly fee and typically provide you with e-mail addresses related to your site, customer support, secure transmission of data and storage space. Look into several companies and ask their fees, whether they allow pop ups, banner ads or annual commitments. Your web designer will need the hosting information when it is time for your site to go live.

There are several ways to go about designing a website. Two of the least expensive routes are to purchase an e-commerce template from an existing company or create your own site. Many companies on the net have created basic templates that allow you to simply drag and drop your information into a pre-made site. These sites are designed to handle e-commerce and make the process very easy. The drawback to a template is that you can not alter the website or customize the site to your needs. It also makes it difficult to optimize a pre-existing site or rewrite any of the codes if necessary. As a result, you may not rank as high in the search engines or receive a significant amount of traffic or orders. The benefit to the templates is that it may not cost a lot of money to begin your online store. This is a low risk solution and once your store is established, you can then move to a custom made site.

You can also design your own website using programs such as dreamweaver or frontpage. These sites are more technical and require either knowledge of the program or pairing with someone who can help you through the difficult parts. I have found that these programs are great for beginners who are creating basic web pages that do not sell products. The e-commerce and shopping cart side of the website can be difficult to manage if you are inexperienced. This is not to say that they can not create functional web pages, this is simply advice for someone who does not have an extensive web design knowledge. The positive side of designing your own site is that you can change your code at will and are not subject to a programmer's time schedule or payment fees. The web is constantly changing and websites need to keep up with new search engine optimization techniques. By joining optimization listservs and attending classes, you can gain the knowledge to improve your own site and maintain its integrity.

A more expensive route, but one that I highly recommend is to hire a professional web design company that is capable of specifically handling e-commerce. These companies should be up to date on the latest codes and techniques to make your site not only professional but easy to use by the consumer. They should also know how to write the code so search engines such as Google have an easy time finding and crawling your site. They may be able to create your site in a short amount of time due to programmers assigned solely to your site. Many of the companies also have a variety of employees that do everything from write copy, upload products, proof read, generate marketing ideas and create graphically appealing pages.

When hiring a web design company, make sure to ask a lot of questions so you are fully educated about the type of site they are creating. During my searches, I found companies that ranged from a few thousand dollars to companies that demanded over $ 20,000 and a portion of my profits. I happened to go with a less expensive company for purely financial reasons and my website suffered in the end. My site took over 2 years to complete and I had to fight to get ownership of my codes. In the end, I ended up with a beautiful site that is not functional from a search engine optimization pointpoint and search engines have trouble finding me.

It is OK to lack knowledge in the area of web design. Talk to a lot of different companies and gain knowledge through them. You need to make sure that your code is easy to read by search engine spiders and they use a program that is easily modified. If you feel daunted by the task of finding the right site design and company, I recommend that you pair with a web consultant that is specifically trained in web site optimization. Many web design companies are looking to create an aesthetically appealing site; However, you need a practical site that Google and other major search engines can rank. I have been working with two consultants, Ron Castle (www.roncastle.com) and Blair Stephens (e2solutions, llc. Http://www.e2-llc.com ) who have provided solid web site optimization tips that will help gain exposure . Their ideal role is to use them to monitor the site as it is being created. Let the consultant check each page and code as it is completed to ensure that proper word, page structure and code are used. If you already have a site, they can create a list of suggestions to modify your site to reach optimization within the search engines. I can not stress the importance of spending a few extra dollars to guarantee that your site is done correctly – the first time!

Accepting credit cards:

Accepting credit cards is the last component for creating a successful online store. People use the internet for the convenience of purchasing a product at home. They want to enter a credit card number and receive a receipt for their records saying the payment was accepted. Accepting credit cards works to your benefit as well. By accepting credit cards, you are guaranteed payment for your services and you do not have to wait for a check to arrive and then clear.

There are several steps necessary to accepting credit cards online. First and most important, you need to find a credit card processing company. Their role is to allow you to accept all forms of payment including: major credit cards, debit cards, electronic checks and traditional checks. There are many companies that process cards so you need to continue with your research. Each company will typically charge a monthly maintenance fee, statement fee and a percentage of your sales. There may be an additional start up fee and / or a gateway fee for transmitting the credit card information. We use Cocard.net due to their reduced fees and customer support. When we initially began the business, I created a chart that compared each fee charged by the company. I was able to use this information, plus a referral from a current customer to choose Cocard.

Once you have chosen a credit card processing company, you need a safe way to transmit the credit card information. Merchants use a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) that is able to encode the credit card number so that it can not be stolen by a third party. I use Authorize.net because of the great rates, amazing customer service, and the free logo that can be added to your web pages explaining that you use a secure processing company. Authorize.net sends automatic receipts to each customer and allows me to enter transactions online. I do not need a terminal in my home to accept credit cards. Authorize.net's role is to process the card number and send it directly to your credit card processing company.

Shipping:

The next step is to determine how you are going to ship your products. The easiest method is for the manufacturer to blind ship the products directly to your customer. This way, you do not have to carry inventory and the blind drop ship means that your name is on the shipping labels and not the manufacturer's names. Very few companies are willing to drop ship or they may charge an extra fee for their time. Typically, you would keep the inventory at your home or store and ship it directly to the customer. I recommend that you take one average size package to the different shipping companies and see what they charge. I took one package to FedEx, DHL, UPS and UPSP and asked about shipping rates. I also asked about insurance on the package, tracking and signature confirmation charges. I could then compare each company and see which one would be the least expensive.

Several companies allow you to print and ship directly from your home. This allows you to have a more professional label attached to the package that also includes your return address information. They may automatically include tracking information for free when you create the labels at home. You typically have to set up an account and you may have to pay an initial set up fee. I purchased a scale that weighed my packages so I knew how much postage to purchase.

Many companies offer free shipping or combined shipping costs to entice their customers. The company is losing money on the product but they understand that consumers are afraid of high shipping fees. Remember, almost all of the products sold on the internet can be purchased at a brick and mortar store for no shipping. People simply use the internet for convenience and the possibility of a lower price – use this to your advantage!

Starting an online business takes directive, determination, the right support system and a good dose of luck. Hopefully this article will help guide you in making the decision to open an online store. Remember, you are the expert in your field. Use your knowledge and common sense to find the right vendors, products and customers to become profitable and successful.

How Blogging Can Plug Those Income Gaps

Blogging to make money requires a few simple steps that need to be implemented.

One of the best ways to achieve success when you are starting out as a beginner is to duplicate what the successful bloggers do. There are a huge number of resources on the web that will help you with your blogging career but I would recommend that you choose one and stick to it, so that you don’t find yourself repeating steps or missing out on important stages of progression

Choose your niche

We all have one. Something that we specialise in or are very good at. Whether its baking cupcakes or building boats all the way to writing code for browser or website plugins. Once you have decided on what it is that you know best and that you can blog about, do some research.

Have a look at what other bloggers in the same niche are blogging about and research their visibility, success and popularity.

Choose your platform

When starting from scratch and particularly for the newcomer a ready-made platform is usually the best way to begin. I recommend using Blogger or WordPress.com and do so for reasons aside from the ease of access and use. For a start the hosting is free. Then there’s a lot of good documentation on these platforms when a blogger needs help formatting the look of the website or to add additional functions for their readers.

Developing Visibility

We all know that it’s no use opening a huge supermarket in the middle of the jungle where there is no civilisation for a hundred miles in any direction. Blogging is much the same. We can write all we want, but if it’s not being read, it’s a fruitless exercise.

There are two mainstream methods to develop visibility. One is called organic search and the other is paid search.

Social Media

When blogging for money the first step is to build all the foundations for organic search. These include setting up and populating Social Media platforms with relevant content. Currently developing and posting image and video content is what drives the rankings for most blogs. The really obvious Social Media Channels to develop are as follows:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • YouTube
  • Instagram
  • Pinterest
  • Vine

There are several other online social platforms that will depend on the niche in which you are blogging. You will find more about these when researching your niche.

Content Development

When referring to content online the context usually means, video, image, written or interactive materials that the visitor to your blog engages with. Apart from setting up your blog and the other platforms where your content will be hosted, you will need to build content development skills and these are quickly learned.

There are some fantastic online tools for developing quick professional looking videos and plenty of resources for creative commons images. just be sure that you understand the copyright rules when using someone else’s work.

Once you’ve set up your Blog site, social media assets and started to create content you want to make sure that they are all connected and have become visible to the search engines. This task is called SEO

SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation and is the strategy you implement that makes sure you come up when someone searches for you on Google, Yahoo or elsewhere on the web.

Find a good resource that includes guidance on both keyword and competitor research so that you create a plan on how to became just that little more visible than your competitors.

Good SEO is made up on the backbone of building good links, where quality not quantity matters and there are a number of places to start. Content curation such as Scoop.it and content management with suggestions such as drum.up are very good resources. You will also want to carry out social bookmarking on sites such as Digg, StumbleUpon and Reddit, which will all increase the indexing quality of your blog as well as the traffic that goes there.

Monetising

There are three really good ways to monetise your blog. The first is through affiliate marketing. This means to sell someone elses product for commission, This is the easiest method of online marketing because it involves links to a partner site only. There are no logistics, payment gateways or anything else to worry about. It’s as straightforward as inserting an identifying link that your readers click on to buy a product and the commission is yours.

The second method is through Advertising on your blog using a third party provider such as Google AdSense. You get paid every time someone clicks on a link. Once you are established and have a successful visibility strategy, click throughs will increase considerably.

The third method is to sell your own products although to begin with I recommend that this is left til last or you initially sell digital products only. I have however seen crafters develop the Etsy and Dawanda shops very successfully using their blogs as a springboard.

Finally. If you really want your blog to pay your bills, build a mailing list. Dont buy one. build one. There are plenty of easy DIY form widgets that enable you to collect subscribers as they come to your blog and the method for ensuring a sign up is to offer something in return.

Start by looking at blogging resources developed by specialists in the field. You;ll find that fellow bloggers are generally very supportive. It may also help to search resource sites for basic blogging tutorials to get you going.

A Review of the Sportcraft TX5.0 RC Treadmill

I love walking, especially out doors, but there are times in winter when it’s just too darn cold. So, recently I bought the Sportcraft TX 5.0 RC Treadmill. Here’s my review and why I’m glad I bought it.

It’s great that I can now enjoy a good walk workout in the comfort of my own home and the features of the Sportcraft TX5 treadmill are really good. I talk about the best ones below.

Out of all the features of the Sportcraft treadmill, the best one is that it can easily go from its horizontal walking position to a vertical position so I can easily store it: I live in a small town house so space is an issue for me. Mind you, the Sportcraft machine does look quite stylish so leaving it set up and on display won’t embarrass a style-conscious person.

The display panel that comes with the Sportcraft TX5 is fantastic as it gives me lots of information. Not only does it show the miles and steps I’ve walked; it also shows the calories, heart rate, time and speed. There’s a quick mode button that lets me change the speed as well; It’s real easy, you just use the “+” or “-” signs to slowly increase or decrease speed in increments of one tenth of a mile.

Although it is a cheap machine, I’ve found I can also use it for running, though I have to admit I don’t run on it all that much. When I do run, I find the remote control to be very useful as it allows me to easily change speed without touching the display panel.

I’m a bit of a safety nut and one reason I’d put off buying a treadmill was because I was afraid I’d fall off – I had visions of my legs and arms being mangled. But, the Sportcraft TX5.0 RC has banished those fears. It comes with a safety cord that attaches to you and a sensor on the panel so if you should fall or slip, and the cord is not connected to the sensor, it stops automatically.

What I liked, and my husband loved, was the low price of the machine at just under $250. My husband found setting up the Sportcraft treadmill a breeze. The manual that came with it was easy to follow.

If you are looking for a treadmill, I would highly recommend the Sportcraft TX5.0 RC Treadmill. My husband doesn’t use it though as he’s an ardent runner; it isn’t really suitable if you take running seriously. But, for walkers like my self I think it works just great.

My review of the Sportcraft treadmill is a little short; I’ve just mentioned the things I liked most about it. The display console of the machine is just about right, the remote control makes operating the treadmill easy and I really like the safety cord. To date, I’ve had hassle free walking on this machine and am getting the workout I need.

Home Remodeling Secrets – Types of Carpet

Carpet provides home and business owners with a cost effective and comfortable flooring solution. Color plays a large role in the visual look and feel of the space, but it is not the only factor. The type also comes into play. Each one is made distinct from the other by the kind of yarn as well as the techniques used during the manufacturing process.

Loop

One of the most common varieties on the market today is the durable loop variety. Also called Berber, this flooring is perfect for high traffic areas such as front entries, hallways, offices, and waiting rooms. This style of carpet wears slower than others under heavy traffic. It also cleans easier and hides the dirt more effectively than other varieties because it is made from olefin or an olefin-nylon blend. When selecting this style of carpet, you can choose from a solid or pattern with loops at various lengths. To make this style of carpet as resilient as possible, select styles with smaller loops.

Frieze And Cable

Frieze carpet consists of nylon or polyester yarn that has been spun tighter. Once manufactured, it resembles a shag with more of an urban feel. Because of the way the yarn is made, it does not fray or mat together as easily. Therefore, it will not show wear as easily, making it another ideal solution for high traffic areas and commercial use.

Cable carpeting is almost identical to Frieze with one important exception – it has a heavy yarn that gives this style a more contemporary appearance. It works well in busy areas because its chunky appearance gives the space personality while resisting wear.

Texture

Another style frequently seen in homes is textured flooring. While it does not show use as easily as others, it does wear slightly faster than Berber varieties. As a trade off, it requires very little care beyond basic maintenance. This style of carpet is also ideal in rooms that require a little more visual interest.

Pattern (Loop And Cut Pile)

This premier style of carpet uses loop, cut pile, or a mix of the two thread types to create interesting styles, patterns, textures, and colors. In short, the more pattern to this style of carpet, the more expensive it is, but it also becomes more pleasing to the eye. It can have bold colors and patterns or it can be almost indistinguishable. This style is found most often in formal rooms such as a master bedroom or dining room.

Saxony

The least wear friendly of the bunch is also one of the most luxurious styles. Saxony is a cut pile that gives your feet a lush, comfortable feeling. Having been used in homes for many years, this is another type of premier-style carpeting found in bedrooms and dining areas. It is most recognizable by its even, smooth appearance that is often augmented by rich tones.

Whether you are decorating a small town doctor's office or a townhouse in Chicago flooring will play a major role in that decision. Loop, Frieze, cable, texture, pattern, and Saxony are only a select few of the different types available. By determining the amount of wear the flooring will receive, the visual look you'd like to have, and the texture the space needs, you can compare it to the different styles to help narrow down your choices.

Why People Prefer Diesel Engines

When most people think of diesel engines, they get the wrong impression. They think about billowing black smoke coming out of the back of the car which causes untold problems in the environment. What most people do not realize is that diesel actually burns cleaner than regular gas and has more efficient burning properties than any other kind of engine available. There are quite a few different reasons why people prefer the diesel engine over a regular one. Here are just a few examples.

Better Gas Mileage

These days everyone is looking at the price of gasoline so that they will be able to save money. There is a misconception about diesel gasoline because it costs more at the pump that other kinds. While it is a little more expensive, it is important to remember that the engine actually runs more efficiently than other kinds of engines. This is why you will be able to enjoy three times the gas mileage of a normal engine. While you will pay a little bit more at the pump than you will for normal gasoline, you will end up saving money in the long run because you make less trips to the pump.

This kind of gas mileage comes in vary handy when you are going on long trips. This is exactly why the trucking community uses diesel engines almost exclusively. There is another reason why diesel engines are used by the trucking industry. The engines are better suited to producing steam and hydraulics. These are things which are used all the time in the trucks so that they will be able to power the brakes, steering and many other properties of the engine. This is just one of the many reasons why truck engines are diesel engines.

Cleaner Burning

There are a few different reasons why the diesel engines are cleaner burning than the regular engines. The first reason has to do with the type of fuel itself. This is because the gas is burning at a much higher temperature than normal gasoline does. This eliminates many of the pollutants which the gas can release into the air. The result is that you do not see any black smoke coming from the back of diesel cars anymore. This is in part because of better filtration systems in the car for the exhaust. It is also because of more efficient usage of the fuel itself.

Getting Gas

The most difficulty people with diesel engines run into is finding gas stations which sell the diesel fuel. This is because the industry is still trying to get used to the fact that more car manufacturers are using this type of engine than ever before. At best you will be able to find one pump available at most locations which sell the fuel. This is sure to increase in the future as more car makers turn to this kind of engine. This will happen as more people find the benefits of the diesel engine.

Diana Krall

On November 16, 1964 in Nanaimo, Canada, a baby girl was born who had no idea how lucky she was. Indeed, jazz artist Diana Krall was blessed with the good fortune of being born into a family that was perfect to nurture her musical talent.

Diana began playing piano at age four. Diana's father had a passion for record collecting; He was also a stride piano player, and in the evenings the family would often gather around the piano and sing together. Of her family, Diana said, "They were really poor – they're coal miners – but they had a piano, so everyone played and I think my dad started taking some of the collection money on the way to church and buying 78s. Thats Music was what they listened to, and people came over because they could not afford to go out. Everyone came to their house and bought bottles – whatever they had. "

Diana's grandsparents also loved jazz, and she spent many weekends with them singing the classics. Diana's interest in jazz further bloomed in high school when she began playing with her school's jazz band. At the age of fifteen, Diana landed her first gig playing piano in a hometown restaurant.

In 1981, Diana won a Vancouver Jazz Festival scholarship that enabled her to study at the Berkeley College of Music. Diana studied for three semesters, but then returned to British Columbia. One night while she was playing in Nanaimo, renounced bassist Ray Brown was impressed by her playing and became her mentor. Ray convinces Diana to move to Los Angeles to pursue her career.

In 1984 Diana won a Canadian Arts Council grant, and Jimmy Rowles, who had played with jazz legends Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sarah Vaughan, became her new teacher. Jimmy encouraged Diana to sing as she played piano, thereby shaping Diana to become the great performer we know today.

After three years in California and a short stay in Toronto, Diana moved to New York in 1990. She landed a regular weekend gig with her own trio in Boston, and recorded her first album, Stepping Out , in 1992.

Diana's third album, All for You (1996) , was dedicated to her love for Nat King Cole, and it was this album that became Diana's stepping stone to stardom. The album spent well over a year on the Billboard Top 10 Traditional Jazz chart. Diana was voted third in Downbeat Magazine's annual top ten favorites poll, and was nominated for a Grammy in the best jazz vocalist category.

In 1997 Diana recorded Love Scenes . This immensely popular album, containing her hit song, "Peel me a Grape," sold over 500,000 copies, and Diana earned another Grammy nomination for best vocal jazz performance.

1999 was a huge year for Krall. Love Scenes went gold, and Diana released When I Look in Your Eyes , which became a smashing international success. Krall finally won the Grammy award she had been nominated for twice previously, and When I Look in Your Eyes became the first jazz album to be nominated for the best album Grammy in over 20 years. The album toped the charts for over a year, and songs from the album were used in both television shows and movies.

In 2001, Diana released The Look of Love . The album topped the billboard charts. In Canada the album went quintuple platinum; Diana was the first Canadian jazz artist to earn this accomplishment. Her subsequent album, Live in Paris (2002), won the Grammy for best jazz vocal album. It was during this year that Krall was also named as one of the 25 most intriguing people of 2001 by People Magazine.

In 2003 Krall married British rock musician Elvis Costello, and in the year that followed she released Girl in the Other Room , which contained many songs written by Diana and her husband.

Despite the crossover success of When I Look in Your Eyes , this album was criticized for leaning too far away from jazz toward contemporary pop. Since that time, Krall has released From This Moment On (2006), Quiet Nights (2009), and Glad Rag Doll (2012), each with its own distinct flavor. From This Moment on favors large ensemble standards, Quiet Nights is Brazilian bossa-nova themed and employers a full orchestra, and Glad Rag Doll reproduces the jazz music from the 1920's and 1930's prohibition era.

Krall's fame and popularity has led to many impressive performance opportunities. Krall has performed at Carnegie Hall and at the White House for President Obama. She also performed "Fly Me to the Moon" at Neil Armstrong's memorial service.

Krall's musical talents have influenced the works of many other famous musicians. Most notably, Krall worked with Barbra Streisand, producing her music and playing piano on an album of Streisand's in 2009. In 2012, Krall worked with Paul McCartney on his album, "Kisses on the Bottom." Other artists who have been influenced by Diana include Lindsey Muir, Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, Elisabeth Kontomanou, Katie Melua, and Renee Olstead.

Despite the critical reviews of "Girl in the Other Room," Krall is planning the release of a pop album in the fall of 2014. The album tentatively includes tracks by Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, and a new composition by Paul McCartney.

Given Diana's penchant to produce music across a range of styles, you never know what she'll come up with next. According to Diana, "An album is just a snapshot of where you are at that time. Not all pictures of everyone are just in jeans and a t-shirt, or a a ball gown. You have many different sides and this is a snapshot of Where you are at that time. "

As Diana approaches her fifteenth birthday this November, she has the potential to take us to new places for years to come. If her future journey proves to be as bright as her past, she will surely earn her place in history as one of the vocal legends of our time.

A Life Less Than Extraordinary

I wish he had the guts to smack her. Really get into it with her and give her one. Leave an imprint of his hands against her face. I wait to see his nails cutting into her throat like a shard of glass; Splintering off. I want her to feel like I do; Wandering without a country, a tightly wired heart webbed within spiders of veins. As if I was finding myself among rocks on a deserted beach pressing my finger into the sand leaving a memory behind as if it is written in blood, a masterpiece in the sun, tugging the horizon down that competes daily with the sunrise at the breaking of Dawn and the sunset at twilight.

Does she ever feel lonely as I do? The silence is dead in the rooms of our house, made up of impoverished ghosts, their voices clanging like the sailing song of a windchime in the wind through orphaned leaves leaves grounded in my head. She frustrates me like a blue fly I can not swat, gut or trap. I can not pull its wings off; Disguise my frustration in a plume of smoke like my younger brother and his friends. My father and I have retreated to our room that we now share. I lay sprawled out on the single bed watching him sleep. My mother sleeps in my sister's room now. She sleeps enshrouded in the dark under the dens cover of blankets over her head. Her door is closed.

I can not regenerate the hate they now have for one another into love. Their separation leaves me feeling quiet, depressed, filled with rage, desperate. What is God in all of this? He is fading away. I am fading away like the bad wolf or the evil, wicked witch in a fairytale or Oz. My eyes water all the time. Is it tears or because I am so sensitive. She smells of perfume when she goes to church. There's a splash of color in her hair. She wears her open-toed high heels. This minx then smoothes her hair with her hairbrush, pats stray curls down and then leaves us. How to get out of this mess? I begin to dream of better days.

I wished I had apologised sooner and said I was sorry over some childish, petty thing. Wished I knew that at some point in our lives loneliness for everyone is an internal rhyme. I watch other women and magnify their heart, their softness and try toprint it on my mind but to no avail I always fail miserably at this quiet, quick game with its fluid movements as if I was in some dance or ballet. I come out like some cutout of a paper doll with no machinery, as if I have plastic limbs and the missing pieces of me or who I should be become more apparel. I was not trained. My mother, you see Cave the rituals of being and becoming a woman to herself. I could not fathom her and in return she could not fathom me so we were both at a loss for words for years. In our lives there were many endings, brick walls, hot, burning bridges, footprints in the sand (she walked ahead while I trailed in her wake even as a child, our relationship while I was an anxious adolescent) whole conversations that ended in shrieking , Shouting and screaming that led us to believe we were both flawed in some way. Only in the thick water of a swimming pool could I gauge my own strength. Here I fled from clarity, from the intent to kill myself with words.

This was my escape from suffocation, my parents and my younger, troubled siblings. This was how I measured my superstitions surrounding death and the scores that came from tests. I gauged it with each stroke to the opposite side as I leaned and curved my body into each wave and pushed away into the distant simmer. There was no scraped, skinned knee that drew fresh, raw blood on a school playground when I was just a kid, just the euphoria I had writhing like a worm, wavering inside me when I saw mist outside. It was almost heaven in the water. I busied myself with other writers and poets words and made a home away from home with them. I climbed the tall walls of castles, made myself sick, grown bored with life at an indeterminate speed and then I grew up. Silly me; Thought the hole in my head, the void in my heart would fill.

That it would never leave me vulnerable again. I never thought growing older, aging would mingle with melancholy. Did not anyone ever tell you that living in a circus can make you mentally ill, turn you into an alcoholic, make you angry, have panic attacks as if the world as you knew it would come to an end leaving you wild-eyed, Startled and dead inside even though your heart was pumping, lungs in tow; Even though you were still left breathing. There was no dispute. There was talk of it though late at night with a suitcase in tow, hushed votes almost whispers. In the morning all the evidence of the previous night was gone.

The incriminating suitcase was all gone and so was the talk of divorce; A short-lived separation, the hours I lay awakening listening to them breathing. I knew my mother's love was pure, haunting and precious. I knew she needed him as much as he needed her. It left me older than my years, wanting, needy, seeking the Alps or claiming Everest, waiting on her love like waiting on Kilimanjaro like a sweetheart. I wanted to pin her down to the floor as she made mush out of all of us singing a string of curses, spraying us with her vitriol and spit. Now my brother smokes and the smoke spreads itself thin in the air. My sister paints portraits of other people. I wish it was self-portraits.

Maybe then she'd learn something of what truth means and understand, accept it. Accept what an unhurried family life means instead of being some sort of singed experiment, a guinea pig squeezed into someone else's Pandora's Box, next to the knife-in-my-back, next every heinous sin, every envious fledgling packing their own ammunition for room . My heart bleeds for her; My sister. I understand her brave front. Meanwhile my brother caved in and drowned. I swallow mouthfuls of blood. There is dirt under my fingernails from trying to dig our way, the four of us, out of this, this underground mess while she, my mother remains elegant and a looker. The air would ripple. How my mother could cause waves without much effort on her part.

How nothing could save us from her bellegerence. I wish someone would say, 'Stop. They have all suffered enough. ' That that statement would be omnipresent, that it would be more than enough to see us through.

The burning light like the yellowed sunlight streaming through the windows, the closed curtains, the bedroom walls that seemed to talk by themselves as if I was hallucinating, the door that stood ajar. All of that was gone. There was no dispute.

I wanted her very badly to exist. When she was cruel I kept quiet and was intimidated. When she was cruel she taught me to be cruel too, to reduce people to smithereens, to teach them that they were unworthy and bomb their self-esteem. There was always the intent there to be cruel, to be forward, to march on nonetheless and blow them all away as if they were nothing. She taught her children well because in all of us a cauldron of this now exists as adults. We do not mean to be mean or nasty, indifferent, aloof, make thinly veiled threats it's just the sum of our parts.

As if people; They mean nothing at all. You see, I could say all of this was her fault but I know deep down that I am to blame for having no one on my side all the time, for feeling empty, lost and vacant even at this stage of my life. I am to blame for cutting them all out. Life is pretty uneventful and quiet. I do not like noise. There was so much of it when I was growing up. There were tears and of course as I said before there was a talk of divorce and there had been separations but only for weeks. It was important that you – the reader know at least this; That they reconciled. She taught me language, wrote whatever she felt intensely in her clever head on my canvas.

The layers are there now in mysterious detail built into, stored in my personality. There are some memories which can not be accounted for; That is not as rare as you might think in households where there has been abuse. The rush of the emotional, the physical so cunning, so interlocking, so subtle, so inventive, so compelling cutting through the bare bones of cloth, of age, of faith, of race, of nationality. I will never forget her. Her hair dyed rust-red. I will never forget her. I must invent my own language now, tread gently where angels fear to tread, grow children who will mind their manners, raise them beautifully before they get locked into coffins.

I will never forget her. The pearls of wisdom torn from her mouth that was bedazzling like seeing the shine on the flesh of a fish shuffled through the air like birth pangs, the complicated joy that she revealed in kinder moments and the joy that removed me from the edge. I can remember her standing in the kitchen making breakfast in her gown and slippers before she got dressed for her job as a teacher; Her hands around a lukewarm cup of coffee making peanut butter or tuna fish sandwiches for our school lunches. My parents were not a bad fit from the start. They were good people. Kind people. Not the kind of people who had people over all the time for cocktails or drinks or dinner parties with the men getting grabby, slurring their words and falling asleep in their chair in the family room.

I will never forget her leaving across the kitchen table, magically bypassing all breakfast dishes, clipping my sister's ear leaving an imprint of her hand behind and my sister's shriek that fell on my head like the pinprick of a blister. Believe me, I will never forget that. Our childhood was far from ordinary. Our survival of it was extraordinary. Others succumb. Others get lost in addictions, in eternal damnation, in a sticky demise of a taste of their own private hell, in death.

We just moved on dragged kicking and screaming, acclimatised to my parent's forest of unconditional love, eyes shut onto the world, moving into the human condition too deeply unfortunately to feel barely unsettled or restricted by anything. The images of mother and father, sister and brother were cracked. This was the space we were given and we took it gladly because it complimented us in our hour of need; Even now. We did not need words or rituals or trips on the beach. We needed each other and this we only realized when we were grown up too old for tantrums, shouting tirades and salty tears.

We were family, loyalties divided or not and although we felt empty and tired of life sometimes the proof was there that we were made from better stock than that. We were people that came from the sea, hair dewy, eyes bright and sparkly, hands bejewelled by the ocean and heels encrusted with sand. We were mermen and mermaidens. We were washed clean as we emerged into the chilly air from the sea or the pool, shower or a bath, with Wordsworth, Keats, an invented line of commiseration and defeat. A purified bunch waterproofed. We had nothing to lose but our hearts to sorrow and at the end of it all we fled like runaways, like mewling cats, half-starved cast adrift as if we were stark naked; As if we were madcap streakers racing across a green.

My siblings began their journeys in their twenties and me in my thirties. My mother was no longer there to tell us what to do, what to say, how to respond to questions asking us but they loved her like I did, they tolerated her like I did with patience. They buried their heads when heads had to be buried. It was always about money. Peeling away across the skies, feet bare, grounded I held shells up to the blue sky. Their bare bones fragile, delicate to the touch; They lay smooth in my hand. Curled, covered with the smell of the sea breeze, of hundreds of thousands of years. The taste of salt in the hole of my mouth and I yelled at her to wait for me.

But she never turned around. She never looked back. The wind was rough. The tide was high. The gulls overhead swallowed my words. There were a few swimmers that day. We bought ice-cream. The chocolate in the peppermint cone melted quickly licking the edges of the white serviette and making my hand warm and sticky. It was a warm day. A mother was fussing over a baby in a pram. I said this was what a mother was probably like. She tasted sweet; As sweet as sugar in a bag of mixed sweets. Her smell was like talcum powder and when she took you in her arms when you were small you felt safe and protected. I knew my mother. I knew what she looked like, her smell, her taste, the small of her back, the back of her neck.

I knew what her hands felt like as they moved across my shoulder blades, down the ladder of my spine, as she watched her exercise videos and lifted weights. I knew she looked young for age. I also knew she was not shatter-proofed. She was not some stone god. I knew there had been a day when I had made her cry. When she had balled up her hands into fists and slammed the bathroom door in my face. I had seen her wipe the tears from her eyes. I had felt very small that day. There was no place to hide although, God would have found me. I am slowly emptying my head of everything; Laying down the gauntlet. There were psychologists but not anymore.

I grew tired of all their trick questions, their blank faces, sheepish grins, coffee cup or clock on the table in front of them marking the minutes until it was all over with gulps and stares. I keep to myself. We all do. It's a family thing. Now our love travels outwards hoping to meet a mate – a soul mate. When will we finally be free from the chains that hold us back? The answer is simple. It lies within our heart, the folds of the seasons that we have weathered intuitively, our head up, chin up. It does not put itself on display in neon lights all theatrical.

How To Begin Achieving Goals and Dreams

Why is achieving goals and dreams often so difficult? You simply cannot have a belief in what you do not want, along with a belief in what you do want. These two systems of belief and for achieving goals cannot coexist.

It is really this simple: If you continually search after what you do not truly want, you will always get more of it.

Now please bear with me here.

If you will consciously bring out what you do not want and face it up against achieving goals and what you do want, your undesirables will instantly turn into nothingness. Anything that you truly do not want is not God’s Will, and certainly not your true goals and dreams.

When your mind believes in total darkness, light cannot enter. Consider: When you close the blinds and shut the door to your home, the light will not enter until someone opens the door.

Just sitting there in the dark and waiting will not let the light come shining through.

This is what you are doing when you remain in an undesirable situation. Truth does not struggle with ignorance, and love will not attack fear. You cannot defend yourself from fear. You can try, but all you will succeed at will be gaining more fear, grief and loss and not living to your true potential.

Miracles tell us that, God does not know of defense; therefore truth does not need to be defended.

Defense is not of your own making, and the Holy Spirit-your internal Healer and Guide, will use your defenses on behalf of truth and achieving goals and dreams only because you made them. Yes, your true goals and dreams are His, too!

But with this method your defenses will see instantly that there is nothing to defend. Based on His purpose for you, which is your goals and dreams, He merely changes them into a call toward knowledge, which you will find not to be fearful at all.

Back in high school, when I anxiously and fearfully wanted to ask a lovely redheaded girl to the senior prom, I came up with all kinds of reasons why she would probably say no. But once I approached her and she said that she would love to go to the dance with me, I immediately found that the fear was gone.

When you ask the Holy Spirit to the dance, so to speak, He will always say yes.

As knowledge shows us there is nothing to fear in achieving goals, our knowledge increases at the same time our defenses dissipate.

Therefore, ask the Holy Spirit, using your own words, to open the door and lift the blinds for the light to shine through so that you may achieve your goals and dreams.

For Miracles in your life, Share with Him your fears, by bringing all hidden secrets to the table about your goals and dreams.

You must join and look at your fears along with Him. He will bring these fears and secrets to face the real and true you. Within an instant they will be undone and you will begin achieving goals.

Joining with Him in seeing is the way in which you learn to share with Him all of your interpretations that will lead you to knowledge.

You cannot shift over to knowledge on your own. Sharing your true perceptions with Him, Whom God has given you, teaches you how to recognize what you see. And this is where you begin experiencing Everyday Miracles in your life!

Seeing with the Holy Spirit is not to be considered double vision, but merely the gentle fusing together of everything into one meaning, one emotion, and one purpose, and achieving goals that are of the truth in you.

Your Creator has one purpose, which He shares with you.

This single vision that the Holy Spirit offers you will bring this oneness to your mind with clarity, and into your life for the world to accept.

To your goals and dreams

Article Writing 101: The Perfect Author Resource Box

If you want to really make your article “SELL” then you’ve got to craft the perfect RESOURCE BOX. This is the “author bio” that is below your article body and it’s also known as your “SIG” (short for SIGnature).

Here are the essential items that should be in your RESOURCE BOX:

  • Your Name: You’d be amazed at how many folks forget to include their name in the RESOURCE BOX. Your name and optional title should be the first thing in your resource box.
  • Your Website Address: in valid URL form. Example: http://Your-Company-Name.com/
  • Your Elevator Pitch: This is 1 to 3 sentences that encapsulates the essence of what makes you and your offering unique. Also known as your USP (Unique Selling Proposition).
  • Your Call To Action: You’ve got them warmed up and now it’s time to lead them to BUY from you or visit your website. This is where you “Ask For The Sale.” Best to only give (1) specific call to action.

Here are some optional items you could include in your RESOURCE BOX:

  • Your Ezine Subscription Address: While getting your interested visitor to surf your website is nice, capturing their email address can help you begin the confidence/trust process. If you’re going to do this strategy, include a URL for your ezine subscription address and do not use an email address for the “join” address.
  • Your Contact Information: Such as your business phone number or how to reach you for interviews or your press/media kit. Keep in mind that article marketing is a timeless strategy and you may not have an easy ability to retract what you put in your article once it hits major distribution.
  • A Free Report: This could also be part of your call to action or your free bonus report that further enhances your credibility as the expert on the topic of your article.
  • Your email autoresponder: I’m not a big fan of this strategy due to the fact that spammers will text-extract your autoresponder address and add it to their spam list. Perhaps this strategy was best for the 1990’s and has now run its course.
  • An anchor URL that is related to one keyword or keyword phrase that you want to build SEO strength for. Example: if I wanted to build search engine relevance/strength for the term “Article Writing,” I’d link up that term in my resource box to my website. This is an intermediate to advanced level strategy and should not be abused by over-doing it. Keep it simple.

What NOT to include in your RESOURCE BOX:

  • A listing of every website you own. There is no faster way to dilute your credibility than by posting a half dozen irrelevant URLs that have nothing to do with each other. Best to only post ONE URL that is related to the topic of your article.
  • A listing of every accomplishment you’ve achieved to date. No one cares. Keep your resource box brief and to the point. Yes, your resource box should be benefit oriented so that the reader finds value in reading it rather than your ego being justified.
  • Advertisements or pitches for products that are not relevant to the topic of your article.
  • Keep the size of your resource box so that it’s no larger than 15% of your total article size. Too often I see resource boxes that are 50% of the size of the total article and this is abusive.

Your Perfect Resource Box Conclusion:

The BODY of your article is where you “GIVE” and the RESOURCE BOX is where you get to “TAKE” for your article gift of information. The resource box is the “currency of payment” you receive for giving away your article. Be sure to include your name, website address, your unique selling proposition as briefly as possible and a simple call to action.

How Many Business Cards Should You Order?

In the modern world of business and networking there is so much conflicting advice about the giving out of business cards. Some say give them out to everyone you meet, whether they are the pizza delivery guy or the CEO of an international company. Others say to give them out more strategically, only to qualified leads or potential customers that you’ve already chatted to and connected with. When it comes to ordering new business cards, the number you need obviously depends on which of these strategies you follow. Some people will get through 1000 cards in a few months, others will make 500 cards last two years.

Here are some additional factors to consider when deciding how many business cards to order.

Do you like to update your branding often?

Often those in the creative and design fields like to create new twists and fresh visuals for their brand and their business cards. They get bored of giving out the same old card after six months or so. In this case guesstimate how many cards you will give out in that time period and order just that amount.

Are you likely to move in the next year or so?

A move may result in a new landline number even if you don’t print your physical address on your cards. There is nothing more unprofessional than crossed out numbers on otherwise beautifully printed business cards, so order a smaller run of perhaps 500 cards to last you until your move.

Are you expecting to attain new qualifications or accreditations in the next year?

If you are likely to want to add those accreditations to your card, then it will make sense only to order enough cards to last until that point.

Do you attend lots of networking events?

If you routinely give out lots of business cards at networking events, then you will get through 500 cards in no time. In this case a larger order of 1000 or more cards makes sense, so that you don’t have to keep re-ordering more.

Do you mostly work online?

If you mostly work and network online and give out only a few cards every now and then, even a small order of 500 cards might last you for years. In that case work smart with the contact info that you provide, so that it is less likely to go out of date. Leave off your physical address and landline and just give out email and web addresses and perhaps your business cellphone number. As long as your website is kept up to date with your contact info then your card will also remain current. Or find a printer who is happy to print short runs of cards and just order 200 at a time.

As a general rule order enough cards to last you six months, or perhaps a year if you prefer not to keep tweaking your design.

Collapsible Backdrops Add Versatility To Your Photography

Collapsible backdrops have been around for quite a while, but they are just recently receiving the attention they deserve. Photographers use these handy tools when they need better environmental controls and because they are so versatile. These collapsible backgrounds are available in Solid, Chromakey and Muslin finishes to fit most situations. The compact design unfolds to a measure of 5 'X 6' to accommodate one or two subjects, head shots and children perfectly. They setup in seconds and store in the included carrying bag. Velcro straps make it easy to attach to a stand or prop securely.

What do photographers say about the reversible backdrop?

The collapsible backdrops fold to approximately one-third the expanded size, making it portable and lightweight for easy transportation to locations and from one place to another in the studio. The convenience of having multiple backgrounds with both horizontal and vertical display is an added bonus. In addition to being easy to attach to a variety of surfaces, the Velcro straps add stability and balance. The materials are suitable for outdoor and indoor settings. Reversible backdrops eliminate the need for numerous units giving you two backgrounds for photography for the price of one.

Taking care of your collapsible backdrops protects your investment.

Routine scheduled maintenance is highly recommended for your collapsible backgrounds. Muslin fabric should be spot cleaned with a damp, white cloth and when necessary a mild solution of Woolite or a similar delicate fabric cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals on the Muslin. If the reversible backdrop develops wrinkles, use a light steam to gently iron them out. Some photographers prefer to let these versatile backgrounds for photography hang to allow the wrinkles to fall out on their own; Others stretch the fabric until the wrinkles are pulled out. Be gentle and take the time to care for your tools for a long service life.

Backgrounds for photography have multiple uses.

Outside the portrait studio you will find collapsible backgrounds in corporate settings for employee badge photos, at the local passport office and for premium quality YouTube video productions. If you like green screen technology, consider a Chromakey reversible background. You can experiment with the reversible green and blue screens for special effects in photography and filming.

Collapsible Backdrops add flexibility, versatility and convenience to your photo sessions. The portable, lightweight design gives you better environmental control. They are perfect for on-the-head head shots, too.

Siberian Husky Health Problems

There isn’t any dog breed that is completely free from inheritable genetic defects, but the Siberian Husky has the fewest health problems of all breeds. The Husky enjoys generally good health and temperament, but there are still health problems that you should look out for.

The good news is that the Siberian Husky Club of America or SHCA has kept an eye on potential genetic problems and taken positive action for the general health and well being of the breed. Since 1965 this organization has been tasked with being aware of genetic problems and alert breeders before the defects can spread. Because of the SHCA the two greatest areas of concern that have been found for the Siberian Husky is canine hip dysplasia and inheritable eye disease. However, with proper care and monitoring you can attempt to avoid these conditions in your dog and help them to live a long, healthy life.

Hip dysplasia is a condition where the head of the thighbone or hip joint doesn’t fit into the joint socket properly. When a puppy is born the condition isn’t typically present, most of the time it only develops within a dog’s first two years of life. The affected hip will suffer from inflammation, pain and arthritis as the condition progresses. Strenuous exercise such as sitting up, lying down or climbing stairs can make the condition worse. Males and females are equally affected by the condition and either a single hip or both can be affected. It is an inherited health condition, which means hip dysplasia is passed on from the parent dogs.

The Siberian Husky is one of the least affected dog breeds despite the high occurrence of hip dysplasia in dogs. The condition affects about one hundred fourteen dog breeds and the Siberian Husky is ranked one hundred eleventh for risk. This condition can easily be avoided in the breed by buying from breeders who can provide proof that both parents have passed the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals standards for breeding.

There are many eye defects that affect dogs, but only three of them are considered a concern in the few Siberian Husky health problems today. Hereditary or juvenile cataracts, corneal dystrophy and progressive retinal atrophy are the three eye conditions of the Siberian Husky that you should be aware of. Any eye color can have an eye condition and each disorder affects a different portion of the eye. Even though eye problems don’t occur often in the Siberian Husky they are serious and should never be overlooked or underestimated. The Siberian Husky can develop hereditary or juvenile cataracts as early as three months of age.

If there is a mild case there will be a decrease in eyesight, but severe cases can cause complete blindness. Corneal dystrophy is a condition that affects the outer transparent portion of the eyeball. This condition is more common in females and is typically found in young adult dogs. This condition has no current treatment, but is seldom affects vision. A more serious condition is progressive retinal atrophy, which can cause a devastating loss of vision in dogs as early as five months of age and is most common in males.

What is Your Relationship with God?

Philippians 1: 9-11 "My prayer for you is that you will overflow more and more with love for others, and at the same time keep on growing in spiritual knowledge and insight, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you May be sincere and without insult till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. "

What is your relationship with Jesus Christ and God the Father? I am not just talking about your salvation, I am talking about your personal relationship with Him now, after you have been reborn. How well do you really know Him, Jesus Your Lord, and God the Father?

One of the ways we tell how well we know someone is how we talk about them. If we know someone we know how they feel or think about a situation, what makes them happy or sad, their likes and dislikes, what makes them angry. What disgusts them or give them joy. Do you know what makes God happy, what makes Him sad, what disgust Him or gives Him joy? You should, you are His child and you should be closer to God than anything else in this world.

You can know Jesus, your Lord and Savior and God, the Father this well.
How you ask? By spending time with Him. You spend time with God, talking with Him, listening to Him. You do that by spending time is His Word, the Bible. Everything you need to know is right there in His Word, God's plan for you, His provisions for you, what makes God happy, what pleases Him, everything you need to know, is right there is His Word. God is good, and He wants nothing but good for you!

Jeremiah 9: 23-24. "Thus says the Lord:" Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, '' says the Lord. '

Jeremiah 29: 1-12 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Me, and I will listen to you. "

To strengthen your inner man, your reborn spirit, you must know God personally! You have to know God intimately! You need to know what God thinks and says about things, not what the world thinks or says about things. To have this relationship you have to spend time with God, reading His Word.

Joshua 1: 7-8. "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. Of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may Observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good Success.

You have to spend time reading and meditating on what you read in God's Word.
When you seek God, seek to know Him better, seek to know His view on things, then you will find Him!

Jeremiah 29:13 "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

Matthew 7: 7-8. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone who seeks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened."

Hebrews 11: 6 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

Deuteronomy 4:29 "But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul."
To seek God, to spend time with Him, you must spend time reading His Word, talking with Him in prayer, and stopping to listen when He talks to you.

Psalms 63: 1 "O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water."

Psalms 27: 4,8 "One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To bear the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple … When You said, "Seek My face," "My heart said to You," Your face, Lord, I will seek. "

Col. 3: 1 "For that says the Lord to the house of Israel:" Seek Me and live; "Amos 5: 4
"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God."

The more time you spend time fellowshiping with God, the closer you will get to Him and the more you will understand His truths as revealed in His Word.

As you grow closer to God you will learn to think the thoughts of God, speak and talk the talk of God and not the world. You will learn to walk by faith and not by sight.

2 Cor. 5: 7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight"

As you spend time with God, reading His Word, thinking and meditating on what you have read and studied your faith will grow.

Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

And then you will be able to truly please God, because we know without faith it is impossible to please Him!

Hebrews 11: 6 "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

Nothing pleases God more than for us to trust Him completely, trust Him to keep His promises He has made to us.

Deuteronomy 7: 9 "Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands;"

God has promised us everything we need in His Word, if we are obedient and follow His commands.

Deuteronomy 5: 32-33 "Therefore you shall be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has Commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess. "

Deut. 6: 24-25 "And the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that He may preserve us alive, as it is this day." Then it will be righteous for us, If we are careful to observe all these commands before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us. "

When you trust completely in God and not yourself He will guide you and teach you and you will have a strong personal relationship and intimate fellowship with Him.

Meditate on these versions of Scripture:

Proverbs 3: 5-8 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. And depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones. "

Proverbs 2: 1-11,20 "My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth Come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every Good path. When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will watch over the understanding; will keep keep:

…. so you may walk in the way of goodness, and keep to the paths of righteousness. "

Do you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Do you want to be a joint heir with Christ?
If so, I urge you to earnestly pray the following prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, "… and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out." (Jn.6: 37)

So I know You will not cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Ro. 10:13).

I am calling on your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, "… that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will Be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. " (Ro.10: 9,10).

I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, "… with the heart one believes to righteousness …" and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21)

And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!
I can now truthfully say, I see myself as a born again child of God!

Glory to God !!!! Amen.
