Health Benefits of Eating Breakfast – Reasons For Eating Breakfast

The health benefits of eating breakfast extend throughout your day, making it the most important meal of the day. Consuming a good, hearty breakfast is like priming a pump, to help your body get ready for a full day's worth of activity. Not only does the first meal of the day heat up your metabolism to better burn calories, studies show that the effects of this "jump start" help keep the metabolism working at a higher rate through the day. Blood sugar levels rise up and remain higher longer, instead of having a quick drop off that might be generated by eating just high sugar content breakfast snack foods. Skipping this important meal does you no good at all. You will be hungry soon, eat more later, and do not have the good energy to function efficiently.

Additional health benefits of eating breakfast include an increased ability to use your brain, an excellent idea for those younger ones who need to pay attention at school. Some dieters have found that they have better success by flipping their food intake, having dinner for breakfast and typical breakfast foods for dinner. The higher caloric intake at the breakfast meal allows the body to function better all day, and the impact of a good breakfast helps the body become less hungry at later meals. The body can burn off the higher calorie levels all day long, instead of having food sit idle at night, turning into fat withactivity. Calories burn faster in the morning, following the breakfast meal, and the body metabolism slows down near nighttime.

Being able to eat more food is another of the health benefits of eating breakfast. You can actually eat more with a good balanced breakfast followed by a moderate lunch and lighter dinner. People who skip breakfast eat more snacks during the day, and have heavier meals later. It is easier to incorporate protein, fiber and fruit into typical breakfasts. Breakfast eaters exercise more because they have the energy to do so, making personal fitness a by-product of eating healthy breakfast meals.

Tangible health benefits of eating breakfast include a boost in concentration, energy and productivity levels. Eating high fiber breakfast foods like cereal, fruit, grains, nuts, and yogurt are lower calorie than snack foods like donuts or sweet rolls. They give you needed bulk in your diet, last longer, help you feel full and less hungry longer. High protein breakfast foods like eggs, milk, and meats are good breakfast foods, but watch out for the fats like butter and cream cheese. Always take fats in moderation.

Eating breakfast will improve your overall nutrition, and help reduce the risk of heart disease and regulate cholesterol. Breakfast is important to body metabolism by breaking the fast of sleep time; long term fasting does not allow you to produce the enzymes needed to metabolize fat to lose weight. Extensive studies on this topic have been done by researchers at the Cleveland (OH) Mayo Clinic and Harvard University / Massachusetts General Hospital.

The Key to Weight Loss Success

When it comes down to the wire, you are the primary component of the best loss program. Weight loss diets and workouts would be rendered useless without your motivation and discipline. Physicality is not the only component which is required in weight loss; rapid weight loss begins with the mind. This means that you have to decide to commit to a program even if cuts back on your candy bar helpings, or it prohibits you from indulging in that ice cream flavor which you have all but forgotten. Your mind is a very powerful aspect involved in your well-being, and it can lead you to weight loss success or failure, at your own free will.

Commitment is the first step towards healthy loss. Weight management is no easy thing, you can be sure of that; and if you really intend on shedding off those unwanted pounds, you have to start each day with the decision to make the healthy choices which can benefit you. You need to plan and prepare a workout plan the night before the fact, and a meal plan a week in advance. This will ensure that you won’t miss out on the next day’s regimen, and suffer the long-term consequences of exercise loss. Weight training, cardio exercises, and aerobics may be included in the routine, as long as you can competently handle them. You’ll also need a good diet plan to supplement the calorie loss. Natural weight loss should result in a leaner body, not a starving one.

You need to motivate yourself through the program. As is the case, there are few shortcuts to weight loss. Rapid weight loss is only effective if you stick to your program discipline to the dot. Keep yourself reminded of the day’s workout plan, or if necessary, have a friend check in on your progress with weight loss. Natural weight loss is also not a self-made effort; you’ll need the expert advice of a nutritionist, one who can provide a custom-made meal plan for your particular dietary needs. Your nutritionist will tell you which diets to stick to, and may be able to warn you in advance of any crash diets which you may mistake for a best loss program. Weight management, done in a scientific and healthy way, leads to better chances for long-term success.

As part of your discipline, you have to have some degree of accountability. This prevents the possibility of exercise loss. Weight gain is too much the result of a failure to make yourself true to your personally-set goals that you may end up punishing yourself for it, by eating more and doing less. The best way to discipline your way to healthy loss, weight control, and body toning is to withhold any perks until you perform your required regimen for the day; on the other hand, rewarding yourself after a workout is good reinforcement method towards achieving your goal.

What is the Proper Spine Tilt in the Golf Swing?

In golf there are many different aspects of the sport which can lead to either the golfer achieving success of total and utter failure. It just all depends on whether the golfer is smart enough to be utilizing these aspects to his advantage. There are also many things about golf that are not taught in typical instructionals, specifically things like what is the proper spiral tilt on the golf swing. These are important questions that deserve answers because once unlocked they can provide the golfer with much more skill and a far superior game to his friends and co-workers.

First let's start from the very beginning, addressing the ball. The golfer will take his right hand and place it below the left one on his club, tilting his spine slightly to the right, making sure the right shoulder falls lower than the left one. This happens automatically. During the backswing the entire upper body should rotate around the tilting spine. On the downswing the upper body simply rotates back towards the ball using the tilt axis of the spine.

But if you really want to add a significant amount of power and strength to your hit, you should let the axis of your spinal tilt rotate toward the ball. This is a helpful hint that many golfers have benefited from as a result. Once you know your body works and how you can properly use it to your advantage, then the game is yours. Without This knowledge you simply just will not be as skilled as others who do know these things, the basics really just are not enough to get you by in golf, at least not if you want to win. That is the biggest difference between those who win and those who do not, utilization of the knowledge they are given. Are game is affected by everything from the way we stand and the posture we choose to the actual execution of the swing using the arms and muscles in our body.

How to Stay Safe While Commuting on a Bicycle

For many people, commuting via bicycle would be a nice sustainable activity. It promotes health, avoids traffic jams, and is generally more eco-friendly than most of the transportation alternatives. So why are not more people getting to work on their bikes?

The usual answer is, "I would do it, but it just is not safe. Too many crazy drivers." Aside from the obvious fact that if they were on their bikes, there would be fewer cars on the road, here are a few basic bicycling safety tips that bear repeating:

  • Always wear a helmet. All it takes is a pile of loose leaves or a bit of uneven pavement, and you could be on the ground. A small road rash might hurt, but you will survive. However, if you hit your head on the pavement, all bets are off. The helmet can save your life, and shows others that you are a responsible cyclist.
  • Always wear bright clothing so that you are easily seen. In fact, if you ride for any distance at all, invest in some good cycling gear, which is made for comfort as well as visibility. An interesting stat … cycling gloves are statistically the number one piece of equipment for reducing injuries – possibly because the people who wear cycling gloves are usually more knowledgeable and dedicated cyclists.
  • Keep your bike in good condition. Make sure you have good tires, your brakes are in good working order, and you have safety equipment such as reflectors, plus head and tail lights if you ride early or late in the day, or at night. Another overlooked piece of safety equipment is sunshade. Sunburn can take the enjoyment out of a good ride. And of course for the other days, carry a lightweight poncho to shield yourself from inclement weather, if there is a chance you might get caught by the rain.
  • Always ride to the right hand side of the road, and always ride in the same direction as the traffic. If you want to see what's coming from behind, get a small mirror.
  • Observe the traffic laws. Stop at stop signs, stop at red lights, yield to pedestrians. Be as predictable as possible, even if it does mean occasional losing momentum. ÂEUR ¢ When overtaking other cyclists, let them know that you are passing them so they can get over to the right if possible, and so they will not be started. If riding with other riders, ride single file. You do not want to aggravate drivers. Be polite to others, and they are likely to return the favor.
  • Perhaps most important, be defensive. Do not ever absorb that a driver sees you. Make eye contact with drivers when possible. Be aware of cars coming out of driveways, people walking dogs.

Remember to share the road with others, and if you want respect while riding your bicycle, then return the respect to others. Enjoy safe cycling, be healthy, burn carbohydrates – not hydrocarbons, and may the wind always be at your back.

Manufacturing Management Software – What Is an Assembly, and How Can It Help Me?

Does your accounting staff spend excess time entering each component of a finished good into your software, in order to take the item out of inventory? Does your warehouse staff struggle with which items to pull in order to begin a manufacturing run? Are you in the dark about your true manufacturing costs and profitability? These are just some of the question that may be solved if you start to use assemblies within your manufacturing management software. Learn more about the terms associated with assemblies, and how they can work together to help your manufacturing business become more organized, operate more efficiently, and increase profitability.

Assemblies Maintenance

Assemblies Maintenance is the process of defining which components or parts make up your finished item. The finished item is known as an assembly. Most manufacturing management software will let you create an assembly with all of its components as well as labor (often set up as a 'service' inventory item), so that true costs may be calculated. The system may also allow you to include costs from outside services, such as sending out an item to have it painted, which can be helpful if the components require other services before being included in an assembly. Once the assembly for a standard assembly item has been created and saved within your software system, that assembly can be used again and again. You may choose to copy a previously saved assembly and customize it for a different customer, saving significant time.

Assemblies Production

A production plan is a sequential list of assemblies to be built, one at a time. During this 'building' process, components are removed from inventory. Many systems will also allow for 'un-building', which put components back in inventory, helpful when an assembly was not completed or an order was canceled. This eliminates the need to remove (or return) individual item components from your software system, as all components are simultaneously removed when the build is completed. Prior to the creation of a production plan, a shortage report can be generated to verify if all items are available in stock. Once the actual physical building of the item is completed on the shop floor, the assembly is then built within the software.

Serial and Lot Numbered Items

Some components within an assembly may contain lot or serial numbers. If you record and track the numbers for each of these components as you receive them into inventory, you may also be able to select which serial / lot number is being used as a component within the assembly you are building. This is an important feature for those who wish to keep tracking the number of the component, even after it has been built into an assembly. If this is a feature you require for your manufacturing operation, be sure to choose a system that allows for that capability.

Bill of Materials

The bill of materials is a document that shows all of the information about a production plan, including its assemblies and required components. This document can be created by the software system once a production plan has been created within the system. The bill of materials typically shows the quantity of components that are needed, and also the quantity that is currently on hand, so that missing components can be put on order. The bill of materials is also useful for warehouse staff, as it provides a comprehensive list of items that need to be dropped for a product run.

Setting up assemblies within your manufacturing management software can greatly help increase efficiency and profits for your manufacturing operation.

Friedrich Karl Gotsch – A German Expressionist Painter & Graphic Artist

Friedrich Karl Gotsch or Friedrich Gotsch or Karl Gotsch, a German 'Expressionist' painter and graphic artist, was born in the year 1900, around the Northern Shores in Kiel, Germany. Gotsch's father was employed in the shipbuilding industry. With ample exposure to both, the German, and the Scandinavian traditions, he was fluent in most of the Nordic languages.

After the artist graduated from the secondary school in 1917, he followed his father's interests and worked with German armed forces as a sailor, from 1918 to 1919. Post war, Friedrich joined the University of Kiel and continued with his studies. Here, he was introduced to painting and drawing as extra-curricular activities, which he embroidered whole-heartedly. Friedrich Karl Gotsch soon gave up his studies and took private tuitions from the painter and the graphic artist, Hans Ralfs, in Kiel. Ralfs introduced Gotsch to the impressive works of Edvard Munch. In the year 1920, Friedrich's first solo exhibition was held at the 'Kunsthalle Kiel,' and the same year he joined the Art Academy in Dresden. Here, initially Hettner and Oskar later, trained & influenced the artist.

The early works of the artist reflect the heavy influence of the 'Expressionist' works of his teachers. In 1923, one of Karl's teachers, Kokoschka, left the academy and wave the reminder of his salary to his students. With this money, Gotsch traveled to the US and later on went on a study trip to Paris (1926-27), Italy (1928), Southern France (1929), and Munich (1932-33). After returning, Gotsch developed a body of woodcuts, lithographs, and etchings, depicting the works of Scandinavian authors, such as Kmut Hamsun, Henrik Ibsen, and Jens Peter Jabobsen. In 1933, the artist settled in Berlin. Owing to the rise of Nazis, however, he found it extremely difficult to work freely. He was often persecuted. During the World War II in 1939, the artist was sent to the forces primarily as a translator of Nordic languages.

After the war, Friedrich Karl Gotsch settled in St. Petersburg. Peter, a small village on the North Sea, where he mainly focused on culture politics. After 1951, Gotsch focused on his self developed, 'Late Expressionist,' technique. He also painted 'Naturalistic' & 'Mimetic' pictures. He also experienced with the multi-block, colored woodcuts. In the later part of his life, Friedrich Karl Gotsch received several awards and honors, including an invitation to the Villa Massimo in Rome and the establishment of KF Gotsch Stiftung in 1968, at the state museum in Schleswig-Holstein. Gotsch passed away in 1984 at Schleswig, Germany.

Hanging Rustic Style With Rustic Chandeliers in Your Back to Nature Home

A Rustic Chandelier is great for a Dining Room or Living Room

There are a few places that a chandelier is more at home than in the dining room. Here, it serves as an elegant piece of the decor puzzle, complete with table, chairs and china cabinets that match it.

Of course, what happens if you do not want your run of the mill chandelier and you want to go with something a bit more natural, how about rustic? Well, thankfully there are many options available to you!

Rustic decor is something that many people want, but few people are able to find. They usually have to go with cheap knock-offs that look rustic, but are not really rustic. What is the point in buying a plastic lamp that looks like wood when you can buy an actual wood lamp?

They are important in any decor option because it is often the chandelier that helps tie the room together, especially the dining room. As a result, if you get a rustic chandelier, the rest of the dining room will slowly go rustic too. A rustic chandelier also goes great in a formal living room.

In terms of what you can get for a rustic chandelier, there are actually a lot of options. One very popular type of rustic chandelier is the ones made of wood, while those that resemble candles are also very popular.

However, many choose to go with the antler chandeliers, which come in the real and fake variety, because they have a unique look to them and they serve as an excellent conversation piece, while creating a unique look in the room.

No matter what your rustic choices are, or what type of rustic chandelier you decide on for your dining room (or living room), you will have a unique look to your home that few other types of homes can match.

Get Weather Resistant Outdoor Fireplace Tools

Your outdoor fireplace tools will depend on the type of fireplace you have, gas or wood. With a wood burning fireplace, you need tongs, poker, brush and a shovel as well as a stand to keep them handy and something to hold the wood. There are sets where the stand that holds the wood also holds the tools, cutting down on clutter while keeping everything at your fingertips.

The thing you must remember when you are buying outdoor fireplace tools or any other accessories is that, unlike a fireplace inside the house where it is protected from the weather, it will probably be exposed to all the elements. You will want to choose what materials the tools are made out of carefully, such as stainless steel which is durable and rust proof. Wrought iron is proven to withstand moisture, sun, and temperature change, but you should read all the instructions and qualities before buying any type of tools.

The Outdoor Cooking Authority website is full of good advice about all kinds of cooking, from an open campfire to the outdoor kitchens and everything in between including fireplaces. You may decide to buy more accessories for your fireplace instead of tools when they explain how to cook different types of food in it. The truth is, more people are looking to their patio for a place to go and relax and eat, and the barbeques that used to be for camping or special summertime holiday dinners are now much more common.

Your outdoor fireplace tools should be durable and weather resistant, with a minimum of tongs, poker, and brush and shovel if it is a wood burning fireplace. The rack to hold the wood is a great idea, but not something you need immediately if you cannot buy everything at once. A screen to keep hot embers from falling out is much more important.

Elevator Speech Template Examples – Basic 30 Second Introduction Scripts

An elevator speech remains one of the most important networking and marketing tools you have at your very disposal. Of course every business is different and it is all very well talking to people at networking events and so on, but how do you make sure you grab their attention? Is there a template that can be followed that allows you to come up with a 30 second introduction for YOUR business?

Actually there is a format that has proven success and can be applied to pretty much any business that aspires to have clients! Hopefully that is every business that wants to stay solvent!

There are some pre-requisites to achieving success with this approach and the main one is developing a clear idea of your ideal client and the issues with which they are struggling. Closely related is how you help them – what does your company do that solves the chosen challenges of your ideal client base.

Armed with that information, the more detail you have the better, here is the template to follow for any business:

Part 1: Who You are

Hi, My name is… from (company name)

That is all you need. Obviously if you are in a conversation already and someone asks you what you do you don’t need to reintroduce yourself! You can also vary this along the lines of: “I’m Jerry and my company is…”

Most importantly, resist the temptation to expand this into a long explanation of where your office is located, when the business was founded, how many employees you have and so on. Shorter is better

Part 2: Who you help

We help (this target audience)…

Again, as short and targeted as possible. Avoid the temptation here to think everyone is your IDEAL client. Messages such as: “We work with anyone who owns a car” is too broad. There is leeway here to change the words as well of course. Pick a variation with which you are comfortable – we work with, we help, I am focused on etc.

Part 3: What problem do you address

Who have (this problem, issue or challenge)

You don’t need to elaborate for minutes on end. Define the main problem you solve – not the solution at this stage.

Part 4: What they get

So they get (this particular solution)

The best way to couch these parts is using language that speaks to the emotions of your ideal client – frustration, anger, annoyance, fear, worry and so on.

For example:

Hi, I’m Jerry from Acme Insurance. We help home owners in Leawood who are worried they don’t have adequate coverage or even that they are over-covered. With us they get over the frustration of not knowing and get the peace of mind they want by knowing they are insured appropriately.

I Need Help Getting My Husband Back – Tips and Advice That May Work

The other day, I received an email from a wife who was separated from her husband but who was also determined to get him back. She wrote, in part: "I need your help in getting my husband back because nothing I'm doing is working. if he would just give me the chance, but he will not give me that chance. I'll tell you what I told her in the following article.

If Blatantly Trying To Get Your Husband Back Is Only Pushing Him Further Away, Then Stop Doing What's Not Working: I see this happen all the time. In fact, I made this same mistake myself. Often, the harder we try to hold on and cling to our husbands, the further we push them away. Our over zealousness and desperation reads negatively and only makes up appear more and more unattractive. The more they resist us, the more we push. This is a negative cycle that can quickly deteriorate. The only thing that really works here is to stop this behavior and therefore to stop the cycle. Often, you need to back away to be able to gain back some ground.

Often, wives will resist this with all they have. I often hear comments like: "but if I back off, he's going to forget all about me;" Egypt "if I even slowly begin to let him go, then he's going to be gone for good. I can not afford to back off, even a little." I know that it probably looks this way right now, but I firmly believe that you do not have all that much of a choice. The truth is, things can not get much worse if he's already gone – whether this means literally gone from your home or gone from his heart (at least right now.) And, he often needs some space and distance before he'll start to stop resisting.

Although It May Be Difficult, Giving Your Husband Space Is Often The First Step In Getting Him Back: I know it may seem scary or impossible, but I've seen it happen so often (and have even experienced it myself) so I know that it works. Often you have to step back before you begin to gain any ground. My best advice is to put a smile on your face, tell your husband that you want him to be happy, and explain that you're going to give him some space because you respect his right to have it. Make it very clear that you're not doing this because you do not care. You're actually doing it because you care so much.

I know that this probably looks very scary and risky, but it's really the best way. If you push, or beg, or stalk, or debit, or convince, etc., then you're only trying to make him do something that he does not want to you and you're putting your own wants and needs in front of his. He's not going to take too much to this. He's going to think that you do not respect what he is saying and he's going to suspect that he should stay, he's only going to get more of your not really listening. You will often be pleasantly surprised to see that when you start to release your grip, you'll actually gain ground, not lose it. However, in order for this to happen, you'll often have to play this correctly, which I'll describe below.

Pulling This Off: In order for this to work, you're going to need to be very convincing because no one likes to be played. So, make sure that you appear very genuine when you tell him that you are backing off. And, make sure that you do not go back on what you said. If you promise to let him have space, then you must give it. However, there's nothing that says that you can not make the most of this situation. It's best to let him know that you too will be taking full advantage of your time apart. This does not mean that you should date others or act in a way that's unbecoming of you. Not at all. You are representing yourself as a wife who wants her husband to be happy, so do not act in a way that's going to expose you as something different.

However, this does not mean that you can not do the things that would make this situation bearable. Go out with your friends. Focus on your appearance. Do those things that bring you confidence and a sense of control over what is happening in your life. Do whatever you need to do so that when you do interact with your husband, you can show him a woman who is coping very well and who respects herself enough to live her best life even if he's not watching it at the time.

Because quite frankly, what you're doing has a way of getting back to him. (You have mutual friends, do not you?) And often once he sees that you're no longer in a position of weakness or desperation, you will suddenly appear a lot more attractive. And, when this happens, the balance of power shifts and you are in a much better position when the two of your do interact so that you'll begin to see a lot more cooperation, and interest, from him.

Decorate Your Stairway For Christmas

It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! And decorating for the holidays can be a pleasure in itself. Your house can be alive with the holiday spirit without putting a huge dent in your time and budget.

It is helpful to simplify things. The tips offered here are fun and easy to do-you don’t need to be a professional interior decorator to have a lovely holiday house!

If you have a staircase or railing in your home or on the porch, it is easy to make it festive. Start by choosing fir garland. You can use real or fake, and there are upsides to both choices: the real thing has that Christmas tree pine smell that delights our senses, while the fake garland can be reused year after year, and doesn’t pose a fire hazard.

Once your garland is hung at even gently curved intervals from the stair railing, you can add your own personal touch. Use the following suggestions to get your creative holiday juices flowing.

You may choose to string cranberries or popcorn as in the olden days. Or you can paint the edges of pine cones white to suggest snow (or leave them natural). Now add these winsome lovelies to your greenery by fastening with bright ribbons in white, green, red, blue, gold, or silver.

If an outlet is handy, string indoor/outdoor Christmas lights to your garland. Make sure they are cool-burning, and do not leave unattended when lit.

If your staircase or railing is long enough, you may want to hang Christmas wreaths at even intervals.

If you have a landing at the bottom or middle of your staircase, group poinsettias or small potted pine trees in a corner or two. Decorate with ornaments, ribbons, and bows. Or you can fill decorative baskets or containers with fragranced potpourri for an interesting display.

Experiment to see what works for you. Once your staircase or railing is pleasing to your eye, you know you are finished!

Stairway Safety For Young Children – It's Up To You

The Risk of a child dying from a stairway fall is less than 1 in 2 million (as per a June 2008 article published in the Official Journal of American Academy of Pediatrics – The Annual Risk of Death Resulting From Short Falls Among Young Children.) , when it comes to children be treated in hospital emergency wards, one of the leading causes of injuries is from stairway falls. Although the death rate is low, the injury rate is quite high.

One would think that if this is one of the most common causes of injuries, that parents and guardians would take more precautions to ensure that their precious little ones are safe from these types of injuries.

Some might argue the point that safety precautions are not necessary based on the fact that these falls usually do not result in a serious injury. Come on folks, there is no reason that a fall should happen in the first place.

There are simple precautions that can easily be taken to prevent a child from falling down any stairway. In my opinion, stairway gates are at the top of the list for ensuring your child's safety.

Stairway gates are an inexpensive way to keep a child from harms way and many parents may not realize that these gates have come a long way from the original accordion style gates.

Improved Designs:

Today's gates are designed to fit the decor of your home, so that they are not a constant eyesore. The gates are also designed to be more functional than the original gates (center swinging doorways, improved clasps for ease of use and for safety).

One of the most common concerns that people have with stairway gates, is the need to secure the gates to a stairway railing. Putting screw holes into railing posts or spindles is the last thing that anyone would want to be doing. Fortunately, some gate manufacturers have found solutions for this issue.

New Solutions:

There are three types of railing clamps that have been developed to enable the proper securing of a stairway gate, and at the same time protect wood or iron railings from any damage. These clamps are secured to the posts without the need for screws, and the gate then is mounted securely to the clamps by screwing the gate mounts to the clamps.

For wooden posts, there are round clamps designed to fit most round posts and square clamps designed for most square posts. Quite often a railing post will be square at the bottom and round toward the top, so using one of each type handles the job.

There are some situations where a gate would need to be mounted to railing spindles instead of the posts. A special clamp has been designed to clamp around two spindles so as to strengthen the gate mount and protect the spindles from damage. This same scenario also works well for wrought iron railings where screws just could not apply.

It's Up to You:

Today there are really no excuses for not providing stairway safety for your children. The gates that are made for stairways today can work around just about any concerns that you may have.

Your child's safety is all up to you. Do not put this off until you find yourself in an emergency room, thinking if only I had done this or that. No matter how great of a parent we are, we can not keep an eye on our children every second of the day.

Install stairway gates and keep your child safe and secure.

A Discussion of Suspended Scaffolding Safety

Suspended scaffolding safety is of interest to people who work high above the ground on scaffolds. Suspended scaffolds are composed of one or more platforms that are hung by metal or fiber rope. The purpose of the rope is to raise and lower the platforms to numerous work areas. The scaffolds give workers the ability to reach difficult places in a safe and effective manner.

In order to be able to use suspended scaffolds, workers must receive training. OHSA requires that this training encompasses the scaffolds' correct uses and placement, the appropriate ways by which to put together the scaffolds and then take them down, how to handle items while working on the scaffolds, and the manner by which to prevent falls. In spite of this required training, OHSA still mandates that an expert in the area of scaffolds be on site whenever scaffolding is utilized at a work location. The expert has many functions. They include managing the construction of scaffolds, enforcement safety stipulations, and taking care of any issues that come up as a result of scaffolds.

It is critical that workers check over the location where their scaffold will be utilized before it is even authenticated. The things to look out for include items that could block the its path while it is moving and hanging objects like pipes that could possibly tip the scaffold as it passes by. It is also essential to make sure that workers are a safe distance away from all electrical outlets, given the potential for electrocution to result. In addition, workers on the scaffolding need to be far away from any power lines, particularly those that are of high voltages.

Once workers have been trained in scaffold safety and the work site has been inspected for any hazardous conditions, the scaffold can finally be built. Experts will determine which suspension device will be used in this process. There are a number of devices that could be used, including cornice hooks, parapet clamps, and roof irons. The devices need to be attached to areas of the entire structure that have the strength to support four times the maximum intended load of the scaffold. The maximum intended load is defined as the scaffold's total weight including all people, tools, and equipment at any given point in time. Suspension devices must be composed of wrought iron or steel or a similar metal.

At this point, it should be noted that outrigger beams are utilized when no points on the structure have the ability to support a suspended scaffold. The beams are connected to supports within the structure, and they extend the scaffold away from it. The beams should be placed perpendicular to their supports in most cases. Beams should then be stabilized with ropes called tie backs, which should be strong enough to support the scaffold's maximum intended load. These tie backs should be firmly connected to bearing supports. Counterweights should be attached to further provide stability to the outrigger beams. Only weights that are especially designed as counterweights should be used.

After the suspension devices are all in place, metal or fiber ropes are needed to hang the scaffolds. As ropes are the lifelines of scaffolds, they should be examined at all times for wear and tear. Once the routes are said to be in good working condition, they can be affixed to the scaffold's hoist. Hoists must also be able to fully or partially stop loads from falling. Hoists are ready to be attached to suspension routes once they have been tested out. Hoists should be able to support up to six times the maximum intended load of a scaffold, and scaffolding experts can address any questions on load capacity.

On top of all that was already discussed, it is absolutely critical to have a sturdy scaffold platform that is free of debris. There should also be enough room on the scaffolds for both workers and tools.

Regardless of the type of scaffold used, there are some safety precautions that workers must taking while on them. These include making sure that scaffolds are in good condition, not overloaded, and not filled with tools or debris. Furthermore, workers should not stand on items like bricks while they are on platforms, as such materials are not sturdy and could cause them to fall from high distances. Personal fall arrest systems are intended to prevent workers from falling off of scaffolds, and falling object protection is a mechanism used to prevent objects from falling off of the platform. If there is even a slight chance that items will fall off of a platform even after safety precautions have been adhered to, then the area underneath the scaffold should be roped off.

In conclusion, workers need to be trained on how to work on suspended scaffolding. The OHSA sets guidelines for this and requires that suspended scaffold experts be on site even after workers are trained in suspended scaffolding. Platforms, beams, weights, and ropes of scaffolds all need to meet certain specifications, and workers must always take certain precautions about the hazards associated with scaffolds.

Flooring – Laminate vs Hardwood

Laminate flooring has several advantages over hardwood flooring. This is why it is currently more popular among consumers. Laminate flooring is composed of four different layers. One of these layers is the design layer, which determines the look of the flooring. The design layer has a photographic image on it that allows laminate flooring to look very similar to natural hardwood flooring right down to its grain, color, and knots. Because the look of laminate depends on a photographic image on the design layer, laminate can have many more design options than hardwood. But there are still differences between the way the two look. The same grain patterns are repeated throughout the laminate flooring. In contrast, there is a little more variation in the grain patterns for hardwood flooring. This means that it is easier to find replacement laminate planks that will not contrast with the existing planks.

Laminate flooring is about twenty five percent cheaper than hardwood flooring. This means that you can get a floor that has the visual appeal of a hardwood floor at a much cheaper price.

Laminate flooring is much easier to install. The reason for this is because of the invention of glueless laminate flooring. Because it uses a locking tongue and groove design, you can install glueless laminate flooring by attaching the laminate planks together. This is much easier than using glue or nails to install hardwood flooring. It is also much easier to clean up after installing laminate flooring. Using a locking tongue and groove design instead of glue also means that you can immediately use your flooring right after the installation is finished because you do not have to wait for the glue to dry.

The installation of laminate flooring will also occur more quickly than with hardwood flooring. This is because the planks used for laminate are wider than the planks used for hardwood.

Laminate flooring is more durable than natural hardwood flooring. It is about fifteen times stronger. It is much easier to damage hardwood than laminate. Hardwood will not tolerate heavy foot traffic as well as laminate. This is why you will find that laminate often comes with a ten or fifteen year warranty. Warranties for hardwood are much shorter. However, if it is necessary, you can resand and refinish a hardwood floor as many times as is necessary. This will allow your hardwood floor to last for many years. Because of its design, you cannot resand and refinish laminate.

Another advantage of laminate flooring is that it provides ultraviolent (UV) protection. This gives laminate flooring the ability to block UV rays from the sun which will prevent the flooring from fading. Since hardwood flooring does not provide UV protection, you will have to spend a lot of money on maintenance costs to make sure that the hardwood flooring looks as good as it originally did.

Laminate flooring is much easier to maintain. Since it does not trap any dirt, the daily maintenance of laminate would only require the use of a brush or dust mop. If any water gets on the laminate, you can clean it up with a sponge, paper towel, or mop. Cleaning hardwood flooring is more time consuming and usually requires the use of relatively expensive cleaning products.

The Bane of Fake Russian Lacquered Boxes

Of late, Russian lacquered boxes that have hit the streets and shops are produced by untrained artists. There’s plenty of money to be made, as people unwittingly end up paying hundreds of dollars for fake boxes that are passed off as genuine. This in turn translates into depletion of revenue for the original artists.

There is yet another category of Russian lacquered art called reproductions. These generally come marked as ‘reproduction’, or are produced in such a way as to seem different and not to be mistaken for the original. The artist might add a personal element or something that was not part of the original painting to produce a copy that doesn’t resemble the original art although it was inspired by the original. Furthermore, not all who graduate from the art schools go to work in the factories where the salary is a lot lower than what an artist can earn independently.

What makes things uncontrollable is that there are no copyrights for the use of names of the four schools of art. Even non-professional and fake artists can use them. In original Russian lacquer boxes, the writing on the bottom of the box is the title of the scene that is being depicted, the name of the person who painted the box and the name of the town it was made in, which is synonymous with the style.

One way to find if the lacquer box is a fake is to determine whether it is made of papier-mâché or a cheap substitute. Russian papier-mâché lacquered boxes take anywhere from 6 to 10 moths for completion. Lately, trained as well as untrained artists are switching to boxes made from non-traditional materials such as wood, acrylic, or Argillite, which hastens up the production process by many months.

The traditional process of curing the papier-mâché boxes before the process of painting begins is thus cut short by substandard substitutes. To find out if a box is original or not, open the cover till it is half open and shut the box. Papier-mâché produces a soft and muffled sound on closing. If the lid of the box closes with a sharp, woody click then it is likely not to be made of papier-mâché, but some cheap cardboard based substitute.

Another give-away of a fake Russian lacquer art box can stem from the untrained artists’ lack of knowledge of the painting technique. Multi-layering of a box, creates greater depth in the original work and almost creates the impression of a 3D image. Every layer of painting is coated with more layers of lacquer and this technique is so sophisticated that it can take years to learn and many more to master.

An artist often pays attention to minute details. The gold leaf ornamentation in the Russian lacquer boxes for example, are very geometrical and boast of superior sense of construction which would not be the case with the fakes and imitations.
