Non-Verbal Communication: Withdrawal, Insulation, and Turf Defense

Once encroachment happens, people react in one of four ways; withdrawal, insulation, turf defense, and linguistic collusion. Withdrawal is the moving away from the encroacher. Insulation is the building of boundaries to encroachers. Turf defense is when the owner expels the encroacher. Linguistic collusion is the verbal assaulting of the encroacher to make them feel of unwanted and unwarranted. A person reacts different depending on the encroacher. Based on the text, these are the factors influencing territorial defense. 1) Who was the encroacher? 2) Why did they encroach? 3) What territory did they encroach on? 4) How did they encroach? 5) How long did the encroachment last? 6) Will they do it again? 7) Where did it occur? Most of this is done simultaneously. All of these factors will determine defense and any future preemptive measures that it takes to defend territory.

The differences in personal space between international cultures

In the U.S., we feel more comfortable with communication from greater distances than in Latin America. In the U.S., people feel uncomfortable with men holding hands, but in the Middle East, this is normal. In the U.S., we shake hands as a normal greeting, but in Italy; there is a hug and kissing of the cheek. The French are like North Americans in the fact that they are very comfortable with distance. I believe the differences are too subtle to explain and that it would not be accurate to generalize. This is because in the U.S., there are differences from state to state and region to region. Stereotypes have to be really examined to accurately say that all people are the same from a certain place.

What effect does crowding in a city living environment have on how its citizens view personal living space?

Crowding or living in a high density area, such as New York, affects one’s view of territory and space. The streets and living space in the city of New York is very crowded and gives a person a different reality than someone living in Columbia, S.C. In New York, there is always someone there. There defense mechanisms are different than someone living in a small town. Statistics show that high density areas are plagued with a greater number of human woes than low density areas. One could assume this is because of the number of people and also the constant invasion, violation and contamination of space. This fact also leads to more insulation. There are more cops and security needed in high density areas. People from high density areas also seem less friendly. This is a coping mechanism used to live in a high density area. Also, there is more turf defense and thus more violence in high density areas.

A Day in the Life of a Color Technician

Everyone looks forward to their day trip to the salon. Men and women alike come to color technicians to improve their appearance. From frosting to rinsing, customers put their hair in our hands; they trust and pay people like me to make sure they leave feeling like a million bucks.

Being a color technician involves becoming a customer’s confidant, offering the best hair care and color advice, and following as much instruction as possible. My chair is home to both coloring products and unsolicited advice. Many clients ask, “Would this color look good on me?” as often as they ask me for my favorite discount clothing store. Your color technician is someone you can rely on, both in and out of the salon.

I can also offer clients advice on the best shampoos, color treatments, and scalp care products. I’ve seen it all: split ends, dandruff, hair loss, grease, and I know what works. Customers trust me not to sugar coat my answers and find them relief at an affordable price.

Each day is different, but the work always involves creativity, professionalism, and the ability to handle constructive criticism. My job requires me to be able to give the customer exactly what they want, even if that means giving them lime green highlights that I know won’t do well over their natural brunette. I offer my advice at all stages, but the color choice is ultimately up to them.

Finally, my job also includes research into the season’s newest and most trendy hairstyles and color combinations, as there is inevitably one customer who says, “Do whatever you think.”

If you’re reading this article, it might be because you are interested in either learning more about color technicians, or maybe even becoming one yourself! There are a few things you’ll need help with before diving in.

Becoming a color technician isn’t necessarily a walk in the park. Depending on the state in which you plan to study, it is required that students take many hours of coursework in order to qualify for a cosmetology degree. For example, if students were interested in studying and working in the State of Iowa, it is required that individuals go to school for 2100 hours (usually 60 weeks). It is these long hours that allow a good color technician to do their job at the very best.

Pieces of Advice

Deionization of Water – An Overview

Deionization process is the removal of salt that are dissolved in water. For the process, water is passed through ion exchange material that remove the salt completely. Ion exchange is the reversible exchange of ions between solid and liquid without any change in the solid structure. Calcium bicarbonate, magnesium sulfate, and sodium chloride are the main salts present in the water that are removed by this process.

Deionization is also known as demineralization thus if you talk about demineralised or deionized water it is one and the same thing. Removal of salt especially from bones is also called demineralization. But of we talk about water then this process is also called desalinization. Sea water is converted to fresh water with this process which then can be used for irrigation, drinking and other such purposes.

Ion exchange resins are kept in pressure tank. The water that is to be deionized is then forced through the resins in deionizers. Resins get exhausted after a said amount of time and amount of water, so they no longer exchange the additional ions. For the regeneration of resins these will have to be regenerated with strong acid and base. Hydrochloric or sulphuric acid is generally used to restore the cation resin and sodium hydroxide is used for the regeneration of anion resin.

Deionization Advantages

  • The water produced by the process of deionization process if far superior quality than produced through distillation.
  • Deionizers or demineralizers come in variety of sizes like from the laboratory equipments to the one which are accommodating about thousands of liters per minute.
  • It is used for high-pressure boiler feed water.
  • No chemical or dangerous waste is produced in the process.
  • Through this technology heavy metals are removed from the water.

Deionization Disadvantages

  • Efficiency of the deionization process increases by using mineral water. So you have to use mineral water in this case which is the biggest disadvantage.
  • If possible remove iron and chlorine before deionization process. These are degrading agents and resin foulants.
  • Demineralization of water cannot remove certain forms of silica such as colloidal or non-reactive.

How to Completely Get Rid of a Sore Throat in an Hour

Sore throats are a real pain in many a way. Mainly because it happens at the worst times when you really need your voice. The more you try to speak the more pain you feel. Then there’s the issue of your voice sounding hoarse as well.

Sore throat remedies can be used to help you overcome the pain and annoyance of a sore throat. In an hour, you could be feeling a lot better with some of the natural remedies listed.

The first remedy is to use steam therapy

Steam therapy is a natural remedy that helps with decongestion. Often when your throat is sore, it’s a result of some type of infection. Any infection can affect your sinuses and leave you with a blocked or runny nose. It causes your breathing to be affected and eventually leads to a sore throat.

To use steam therapy, just pour some boiling water into a bowl, lower your head over the bowl and place a towel over your head. This will direct the steam towards your nose and mouth, so you can inhale it.

The moisture from the steam will help reduce any inflammation around your Larynx and help to soothe a sore throat.

Tip: For improved results add a couple of drops of lavender oil to the water. This essential oil has anti-inflammatory agents as well as bactericides to help kill off any bacterial infections that cause your throat to be sore.

NOTE: Steam therapy is not suitable for people with asthma or other conditions that affect your breathing.

#2 Natural Sore Throat Remedy: Green Tea

Green tea is a natural drink and due to it being warm, it’s also great for soothing your throat. It’s handy to pour yourself a cup of green tea before or to drink with your dinner. When your throat’s sore, the thought of eating can be a nightmare as you know it’s going to be painful swallowing foods. The warm liquid with natural anti-bacterial properties help to fight infection.

Tip: Pour some luke warm water into a glass and add some salt. Use that for gargling to help clear your throat. Then drink green tea afterwards to get rid of the salty taste. This will give you double the benefits of anti-bacterial agents working together to fight the infection that is causing your sore throat.

The third remedy for a sore throat is to suck on a lemon or lime.

This one is pretty disgusting if you don’t like the sour taste of lemons or lime. It’s the citrus in the lemon that goes to work straight away to soothe your throat. Well not straight away as in within seconds. It hurts your throat more at first and that’s how you know the citrus is working. After doing that for as long as you can, the pain will start to subside.

When the pain does ease off, use an antiseptic mouthwash like Listerine and gargle that around your throat about 3 times a day and that will keep your throat from becoming as sore as it is or was.

Repairing Damaged Indian Wooden Furniture

Indian wooden furniture, like any other furniture, is prone to damages. In general, wooden furniture often suffers from gouges, splits, minor cracks and broken or chipped sections. Many a times, porous wood like maple can become cracked and dry. Maple, however, isn’t much used in the making of Indian furniture. In southern India, where the climate is tropical and the temperature humid, wooden furniture can warp easily. Besides, cosmetic flaws can also damage Indian furniture. These include peeling of the paint and melting of the varnish. It’s not impossible to repair your damaged Indian wooden furniture and restore it to good condition. It only requires a bit of care.

Before commencing the actual restoration process, transport the furniture to a dry outdoor section if weather permits. Open up all the windows to ensure ventilation if you find that the piece of furniture is too big to be moved outside. Place some old newspapers on the floor for protecting it from wooden dust and chemical spills. Ahead of starting your work, put on disposable rubber gloves and wear a safety mask.

To begin the restoration work on your damaged Indian wooden furniture, use any of the available chemical stripping agents for stripping away the old varnish or paint. Take a clean brush, dip it into the stripping agent and then spread the agent on the Indian wooden furniture. Wait for at least seven minutes for the agent to get oxidized. Then, begin scraping off the top layers of the paint or varnish with a putty knife or a scraping tool.

Now, put on a new pair of gloves for protecting your hands from the splinters. First, rub the surface of your Indian furniture by using electrical sanding equipment for smoothing it evenly and bringing out the grain. Use sandpaper to delicately rub the remote sections of the furniture by hand. After that, remove all the dust by using a clean paintbrush.

Use some wood-glue for re-gluing any of the raised pieces of wood. Now, look at the furniture and carefully examine the joints. Re-glue any loose table or chair legs. As usual, first rub off the surface with the sandpaper inside the joints for removing old residues of glue. Then, apply glue on the inside surface of the joints and re-attach the legs. Apply clamps for securing the parts in place. Remove the clamps only after six to eight hours when the glue dries up.

Apply a wood sealant on any hairline splits or cracks. Allow the sealant to dry. When both the glue and the sealant dry up, re-rub the surface gently. Then, wipe away the wooden dust from your Indian furniture.

Having done all the above, stain your Indian wooden furniture. You can use a water-based staining agent for your wooden furniture in a humid or dry environment. You can also choose latex enamel-based paint if you want to paint your furniture. A couple of coats would be enough. Finally, apply some waterproof and insect-proof glossy finish on the wood.

The Different Uses For Nylon Fasteners

What are nylon plastic fasteners and how are they used? Nylon fasteners are used in everyday living for everything imaginable. They include cable ties, wire management clips, hose clamps, circuit board hardware, panel fasteners, bushings, spacers, washers, screws, bolts and nuts. Fasteners are generally constructed using tough molded nylon that is corrosion resistant but they can be made out of other material as well.

The most common of all plastic fasteners is the nylon cable tie, more commonly known as zip ties or locking ties. They are most often used to organize several cables together or to secure a tag to an item. Not only do they come in various widths and lengths, but they also are available in several colors to tie up nearly anything. The length of the cable tie determines what the bundling diameter will be and the width determines the tensile strength. Many people are surprised to find out that the overall strength can exceed a couple hundred pounds for a single tie and they can be several feet long.

Nylon circuit board hardware was created to aid in spacing, locking, guidance and supporting electronics. As more and more devices utilize intelligence lodged on a circuit board, the need for fastening the boards in place has grown. The advantage of nylon hardware is that the material properties provide excellent electrical isolation while metal does not. Most styles simply snap into place through the holes in the circuit board panel. If they need to be removed from the piece once it has been snapped in, you just simply squeeze the locking device from the other side of the panel. The other types are mounted by either using threaded hardware or pre-attached adhesives to secure everything in place.

The use of plastic screws, washers, nuts and rivets can vary from the type of material that they fasten together. Most, if not all, of these items can be used with nearly any materials such as particle board, metal, rubber, plastic and wood. These items secure the material to itself or to another object, such as a wall or a sheet metal panel. The key advantages of nylon over metal are the resistances it has to corrosion, rust, chemicals, abrasion and vibration. Others advantages include: lightweight, electrical properties and limited torque. However, when securing large items, the proper size of the fastener is necessary because nylon is not as strong as metal. Each fastener has its own purpose and there are other types available to help complete nearly every job imaginable.

The purpose of hose clamps is to help seal a hose onto what is called a nib or barb. The clamp serves as a seal with items such as automotive parts and household appliances. It is important for household appliances, such as a washing machine, to have the proper fitting hose clamp because the repercussions of having the incorrect size could lead to a leak. The hose clamps come in many sizes to accommodate almost every type of hose that is on the market. To use the clamp properly it would need to fit over the two hoses that need to be joined together. Once this step is completed, the clamp can be tightened in place with the attached screw.

The Technical Environment of the Stop Hit

The simple stop hit is probably the most frequently used of fencing’s counteroffensive actions. At the most basic level it simply tries to beat the opponent’s attack in speed or timing. However, successful employment of the stop hit depends on recognition of its unique characteristics and the environment in which it operates.

The stop hit is an attack into an opponent’s attack, stopping that attack from changing the relative score by meeting specific requirements in the fencing rules. In foil and sabre, it is delivered to hit before the attack, scoring a single touch for the fencer who is attacked. In epee it is delivered either to score before the original attack or to score simultaneously to preserve the relative difference in the fencers’ scores. As a practical matter, it is always a simple attack, most often a straight thrust.

Right of Way. Right of way is most influential in foil, as the stop must land before the initiation of the final movement of an attack. This is difficult to achieve, and requires the ability to identify the subtle signs of a developing compound attack so that the stop can arrive during the first action. The opponent can defeat the stop by accelerating the first movement into a simple attack. Right of way still applies at sabre, but the advanced target and the lockout time make the stop a more practical option. Right of way is not a factor in stop hits in epee (as right of way does not apply to epee bouts).

Target. Foil has the most restrictive target, the torso. Both sabre and epee have an advanced target, the arm, which the combination of distance to travel and lockout time makes both vulnerable and a useful stop target.

Distance to Travel. In sabre and epee the advanced target reduces the distance the stop hit has to travel. This means that the stop launched at the same speed against a sabre or epee arm target will hit significantly earlier than a stop hit against the torso in foil.

Lockout Times. Lock out time is the length of time between two hits after which the second hit will not register on the scoring apparatus. The foil lockout time is so long (300 milliseconds) as to not factor in blocking hits. However, in sabre the 120 millisecond lockout means that a cut to the advanced target combined with a rapid retreat has a real chance of timing out the original attack, resulting in a single light. In epee, the 40 millisecond (1/25th of second) lockout makes the epee stop hit a reliable action to either completely defeat the attack or to result in a double hit (when double hits are tactically desirable).

Double Hits. The character of double hits is a critical determining technical factor in stop hit employment. In foil and sabre the double hit (both red and green lights displayed by the scoring machine) requires the application of right of way to determine which hit scores. Only one of the two hits can be awarded the touch. This is a critical limitation for the stop hit in these two weapons because it means that the stop hit is subject to referee interpretation. In epee the stop that beats the attack by 40 milliseconds scores for the counteroffensive fencer; if the stop lands within the 40 millisecond window both fencers are hit, preserving the relative score between them. The ability to beat the attack by 40 milliseconds gives the stop hit exceptional utility as counter offense. Under any conditions, the stop thrust now can hit at any time up to 40 milliseconds after the attack, and still frustrate the attacker’s objective.

In summary, the stop thrust is technically the most difficult in foil, and therefore requires the best tactical preparation. In sabre the stop thrust or cut has the very real chance to time out the attacking action, especially when delivered to the advanced target. And in epee the stop thrust is potentially the most tactically useful because of the much wider time window in which it can be effective. This suggests that coaches should design their lessons to teach how best to exploit the specific technical requirements for the stop in the individual weapon.

How to Cat Proof a Garden Fence

It is becoming more common for responsible pet owners to keep their cat indoors to protect them from road accidents or attacks from other cats or dogs. If a cat has never been exposed to the great outdoors, then he may be content to live inside the house, but it could be a dull, lonely life. There is a simple system of cat proofing your garden fence so that your pet may enjoy a fuller life, playing and hiding, watching birds and insects.

There are many reasons for keeping your pet indoors or wanting to prevent him from leaving the safety of your garden. The average age of an indoor cat is 16 years, with some living to 21 years. Compare this with the outdoor cat’s average age of only 2 – 3 years, and you can see why some pet owners are reluctant to allow their cat outside. In addition, neighbours can get upset about cats using their garden as a toilet and damaging young plants. If bitten by another cat, your beloved pet may be infected with the feline HIV virus. There is no treatment or preventative vaccine for this fatal disease. In addition, cats can be killed or maimed by dogs, and may be seriously injured or killed if hit by a car.

If your garden is enclosed by a six foot high wooden fence, you can make the fencing cat proof by adding some plastic mesh trellis to the top. It is important that the trellis is set at an angle pointing inwards to the garden, to deter the cat from jumping at the fencing and climbing over the top. In order to climb a fence, a cat will jump about half way up and scramble up to the top by using his claws to get a grip. He will then balance on the top edge before deciding whether to walk along or jump down the other side. When he looks up at a cat proof fence from the ground, he will see that access to the top of the fence is blocked. He may make a few attempts to climb to the trellis, but when he realises he cannot get around the trellis, he will jump back down to where he started. This method of cat proofing a garden fence also has the advantage of keeping stray cats out of your garden, so that your pet will be safe from fights and infectious diseases.

Most garden centres sell plastic mesh climbing plant trellis in 50 cm widths. You will need enough trellis to run along the top of your fencing, some metal brackets bent at 45 degrees to support the trellis, fencing staples and cable ties. These items can be purchased from good DIY stores or builders merchants.

After installing the trellis, supervise your cat to make sure there are no weak spots where he can make his escape. Then sit back and enjoy pottering in the garden with your feline friend!

A Review of Have More Money Now

John Layfield’s book “Have More Money Now” which was published in 2003, caught my attention years ago when he had been on CNBC giving financial advice and even contributed to Fox News. John Layfield is also known as JBL, and was a professional wrestler; it was different seeing a professional wrestler in a suit giving a serious commentary about finances.

Layfield’s story is a little different. He never had to overcome being in debt, but he did go through many years of not having very much money. In fact there were plenty of times when he had no money. When he had to quit playing football he got into professional wrestling. However, wrestling for him was far from the glamour you see on television. He was paid $3.00 for one match when starting out. Sometimes he made $10.00 or $25.00 for a match. He gives a great account of the struggles he went through while trying to make it in the wrestling business.

John Layfield doesn’t mention in his book if he consciously made choices when he was younger that stopped him from accumulating debt. He just didn’t spend money he didn’t have. As he says many times in the book when referring to delayed gratification “have when you have”. If he had to live in a tent or go without heat he would do it. He only bought the necessities he needed with the money he had. Many of the promotions he worked for would provide him some kind of meager accommodations while he wrestled for them, but he wasn’t making much money at all back then. By living only on whatever cash he earned he saved himself from the problems of accumulated debt.

Some of the lessons learned in “Have More Money Now” by John Bradshaw Layfield

-Forget the past. Focus on the future. Whatever happened in the past can not be changed. Rather than sweating over what you should have done, focus on what you can start doing now. How can you reduce your expenses, increase your income, or increase your financial education?

-Don’t be average. Do what you care about and excel at it. If you are doing what you want to do, you will work at it much harder and that passion dramatically improves your chances of being successful.

-Delayed Gratification (“Have when you have”) Layfield stressed “living within your means” many times and he certainly practiced what he preached. For years he struggled to make enough money just to buy basics. Even though times were hard he never went into debt buying things he simply wanted. Part of his success came from avoiding the trap of debt.

-Poor choices and behaviors will cause debt. Layfield says, “The key to being out of debt is to first stop incurring debt”. Old habits have a tendency to lead you into spending more than you should be.

Luxury Hotels Vs Budget Hotels

A hotel is defined as “an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis.” (See 1.)

In the early years of the hotel, accommodations were very basic, usually a room that has a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand. These days, most rooms are equipped with modern facilities. In addition to bathrooms, there is air conditioning, a telephone, television, Wi-Fi (internet connectivity), and a mini-bar with snacks and drinks.

Hotel accommodations throughout the years have changed dramatically. There are several different types of hotels to suit almost every individual’s tastes, needs and most importantly, budget. The two main types of hotels are luxury hotels and budget hotels. Although both have similar basic amenities, these two types of hotels have significant differences:

Budget Hotels

As the name suggests, these hotels were established for people who have a small budget and therefore want to spend as little as possible. The rooms in these hotels usually have the basic facilities such as a bed and washing facilities and most of them have communal toilets. Most budget hotels are older. They are clean but not as fancy as luxury hotels. Some of these budget hotels are equipped with worn fixtures and they do not offer anything free except maybe a simple breakfast or newspaper which is sometimes included in the price that they charge.

Rates for budget hotels vary greatly depending on the location. In Los Angeles alone, budget hotels can charge anywhere from $45 to $119 per day.

Luxury Hotels

Luxury Hotels are for people who are used to lavish lifestyles. The employees at these hotels are specially trained to cater to everything that the guests need. They aim to provide their guests with all the luxuries they desire during their stay. These hotels were built in such a way that their guests’ stay is absolutely as stress free as possible. In addition to basic amenities in luxurious rooms, these hotels are usually equipped with spas that offer massages, gyms that have the latest exercise equipment, beauty centres that offer a wide range of beauty treatments, swimming pools, in house bars and restaurants and laundry service.

These services of course come with a much higher price compared to budget hotels. Other services that you can have in luxury hotels are free room service, free newspapers and even better channel selections on your television. You even get to use robes and slippers while staying in these hotels.

As with budget hotels, rates for luxury hotels vary greatly depending on the location. Luxury Hotels in London charge anywhere from 240 to 525 pound sterling per day.

There is truth in the saying “You get what you pay for.” So, for people who have the money to splurge on expensive hotel accommodations, staying in a luxury hotel would be best if they would like to have the best service that money can buy. But for people who have a limited budget but need a place to stay while they are away from home, they are better off staying at budget hotels.

For travellers who wish to get reservations way ahead of time, in the hotel of their choice, they can go online and check out the websites of different hotels all over the world.

Section 8 Side Payments

Through the years we have had several Section 8 tenants attempt to make a side payment agreement with us in an effort to entice us to accept their vouchers. We declined.

What are Section 8 side payments?

Let’s assume the asking rent for a unit is $2,500. The Housing Authority has authorized a maximum amount for the unit of $2,300. The owner and the tenant make an agreement that the tenant will pay the additional $200 outside of the agreement with the Housing Authority. This is considered a Section 8 side payment. It is illegal.

By making a side agreement the tenant could jeopardize losing their voucher. However, the Housing Authority has come up with a very creative way for the tenant to report the additional payment while remaining anonymous. The result could be quite lucrative for the tenant while extremely costly for the owner who participated.

In May 2014, the Housing Authority of Santa Clara County addressed a letter to Section 8 voucher tenants entitled “Confidential Rent “Side Payment” Survey.” The letter encourages the tenant to take a survey provided by Project Sentinel to assure their answers are kept confidential and their housing voucher status is protected.

The letter is posted on the Project Sentinel website at Project Sentinel does not share the survey information with the Housing Authority.

The survey consists of three questions:

1. In the past 6 years, have you (or anyone in your household) paid rent that was higher than the “tenant rent” amount listed on your most recent Housing Authority rent portion letter?

2. Currently, are you (or anyone in your household) paying rent that is higher than the “tenant rent” amount listed on your most recent Housing Authority rent portion letter?

3. At any time in the past, has a landlord requested or collected rent payments that were higher than the “tenant rent” amount listed on your most recent Housing Authority rent portion letter?

If you’re a landlord whose tenant can answer “yes” to any of these three questions you should be concerned.

According to Project Sentinel, a tenant may be awarded a refund of the total side payments made to owner. In addition, the tenant could be awarded $1,650 to $3,300 for each month they made a side payment to the owner, regardless of the amount of side payment. Refund payments can go back as far as six years.

Bo Staff Training For a Complete Upper Body Workout

Anyone working towards the goal of seeing and feeling satisfying gains or weight loss knows that this process can become somewhat repetitious and expensive. Performing countless reps or tracking the distance you’ve completed hour after hour at the local gym can make success seem light years away from having the strength, stamina, and body type you long to achieve when beginning a training regiment. What is it that’s missing when so many training schedules fall victim to the, “It’s OK I can skip the gym today” or “I’ll start again on Monday” statements that we are so familiar with. Is it possible that the variety of machines and training routines available can sometimes get in the way of making simple decisions like how to go about getting the results you need to look and feel your best?

There is a traditional form of exercise that has been filling the void to these modern exercise conundrums we face when it comes to our physical appearance and mental well being. And martial artists have been capitalizing on these benefits for thousands of years. Practitioners of the martial arts have multiple requirements for self-defense techniques as a physical discipline, and combine it with the building of self-confidence and honor for both student and teacher. And this is considered basic training. Not only is this form of art a great blend of both cardio and anaerobic (weight training) workouts, it can help someone achieve a very defined physique by cutting and toning their body, in addition, this form of exercise teaches a self-defense system as the core foundation that contributes to the students dedication to progress and will to succeed. Weight benches, exercise bikes, and even loud personal trainers have yet to incorporate the three above mentioned martial arts attributes such as

1. Having a body of optimal strength and appearance

2. Feeling healthy inside and out and

3. Having the skills to protect all that you’ve worked for.

One particular self defense technique studied throughout the martial arts community and found in nearly every dojo as a mandatory skill taught to students around the world is the bo staff. Instead of stepping up to countless solid state machines or pumping reps with a free-weight bars jammed with dumbbells on both ends, how about taking and using just the bar itself? Probably the first combat weapon ever to be used following the fist, the bo staff would have been created quite easily with branches pulled from trees or fallen sticks found on the forest floor. If you have ever wanted a way to tone and shape your chest, back, and arms… the bo staff is a great tool for utilizing these muscle groups for a complete upper body exercise routine and there is no need to go to your local martial arts studio and register right away either.

There are many resources available such as YouTube, eHow, or even the EzineArticles directory where you can find many different instructors teaching the basics for free and it’s as simple as grabbing that broom stick in the corner of the laundry room or visiting your nearest building supply center to pick up a wooden dowel for less than ten dollars. Practicing and training with a bo staff can bring a complete workout that sharpens your upper body. Movements such as spinning and striking with the bo can be both physically demanding, but also a lot fun. If you can remember flinging a branch around when you were younger, or finding that perfect walking stick when camping or hiking… there is almost a nostalgic feeling when training with a 6 foot wooden bo staff, making it feel less like a chore as exercise can sometimes be.

When training with a bo staff you are learning a more than a thousand year old traditional form of weaponry. It can look and feel quite impressive when performing its most basic level techniques and it can be very useful as a form of self-defense protection for your self and others.

The Importance of Welding in Industries

Welding means the process of joining metals by causing coalescence due to heat. It happens by melting the workpiece with weld pool. The joint gets stronger when it cools down. It’s heats when the weld pool is used with the workpiece & produces weld in that time. In all fabrication companies welding is very essential. Since welding has been used in steel fabrication its uses has expanded in other industrial sectors like construction, mechanical and car manufacturing etc. If we look back in the past, we can see that welding had been used for many years. It has been passed through the Bronze age and the Iron age and it has branched around the world.

There are three kinds of welding, they are ARC, MIG and TIG welding. There have been many different kinds of welding which have branched as the years passed. Arc welding is done by consumable electrode by aiming to an electric arc. Parent metal & the addition of metal must be together when the electrode is stuck. Metal Inert Gas or MIG is the easiest way of welding. It is like wire but combined electrode and filler material. It is easy to use because the welding process has been made very easy. TIG welding uses a permanent non-melting electrode made of tungsten. This kind of welding process is very flexible because the metal added separately.

These three kinds of welding requires a power supplier for maintaining electric arc between electrode & base material to melt metals at the meeting point. DC or AC currents can be used for these kind of welding. In every type of welding some semi-inert gas is used o prevent combustion in the welding region.

A welder must be well trained for welding works. Sometimes many problems occur because of lack of safety precautions. Working unsafely i.e without welding glass and near combustible materials can be a dangerous. By taking preventive measures, the risks of death or health hazards can be reduced. For example, in the Arc Welding the worker must wear helmet, hand gloves & other protective things which helps the welder to work in safely the process is very essential and has been used in various industries.
