7 Top Reasons Why Music is So Important

Everyone loves music. Music is everywhere, it pervades our world. Everyone knows music has power and importance. But have you ever stopped to consider why? What it is about music that gives it so much power and importance?

Here are seven top reasons:

  1. Music is a universal language. It inspires common human feelings and bridges gaps between cultures that spoken languages cannot. It brings people together and creates universal community.
  2. Music inspires and evokes emotion in a healthy way. It touches our emotional being and evokes moods and feelings that are sometimes difficult to express. It can change a difficult mood and make it happy or excited; it can change a light mood and take it deeper and more profound.
  3. Music enhances learning and makes it more enjoyable. It is scientifically proven that music enhances brain functioning. Playing music uses many brain functions simultaneously: motor control, imagination, hearing, sight, memory, etc.
  4. Music creates ambiance. You can use music in any environment to enhance and augment what is already there. Consider the difference between a party with music and one without, or a sporting event, or a movie, or a romantic restaurant, or driving in your car…
  5. Music is spiritual. Music is of the spirit and inspirational to the spirit. All religions use music to help express spiritual values, and all religions use music to uplift the spirit.
  6. Music sparks the imagination. It invokes mental imagery and inner scenery that opens the mind to amazing insight and spans the distance between the stars.
  7. Music is a simple pleasure. All it takes is your ears and your imagination.

I believe that at the center of the phenomenon of the magic that music creates is the spiritual aspect. Music is a gift from God, a sacred expression of the Universal Life Force Energy that creates us all.

Fixing the Kitchen Faucets

As a homemaker, our task is not only to use and enjoy our homes but to also learn about properly maintaining them. For our kitchens, there will always come a time when one of our faucets will leak or clog and we should know the basic remedy for this especially when it happened in a time when we can not find an immediate plumber.

For us to know what to do when this happens here are the provided procedures that you can follow:

Step 1

First, we need to turn off the water on the valves. It is usually found under the sink. After that, we keep the faucet turned on. This way, the water can drain freely. We need to make sure that the drains are plugged so that we can avoid small parts from falling into it.

After that, we use the Allen wrench to help us loosen the setscrews on the handle of the faucet and removing the handle after. We need to make sure that we line up the faucet parts with its order in which we are removing. This will help us remember what comes first when we will reinstall them again. Sometimes, they can be difficult to

Step 2

This part will be the removal of the bonnet and assembling the ball and cam. For this, we will use the slip-joint pliers for us to remove the chrome bonnet while wrapping a tape around the teeth of the pliers to avoid the damage of the chrome. Then we can now remove the ball and the cam assembly.

Step 3

Now we remove the springs by fishing it out and packing the pieces with the needle nose pliers. Then we clean out any of the buildup sands or residues inside the faucet to prevent the clogging.

Step 4

This time, we will grab the sprout with both hands and working it back and forth so that it will be loosen. After that, we remove it from the faucet face. We need to exert extra effort for this because it can be a little difficult to remove at first. By using the spanner, we remove the O-rings and use the needle nose pliers when removing the diverter. Any sands or sediments inside will then have to be removed.

Step 5

After all the removal and cleaning procedures, we will now go to the reassembling the components. We press the new diverter into place and then installing the new O-rings. It is important that we apply grease into the O-rings. It will help withstand high temperatures plus making it a lot easier to remove if ever it will be damaged again.

Step 6

We attach the sprout back into its place using both hands firmly on it. We use the spanner and the Allen wrench to guide us while slipping the springs into place.

Step 7

Finally, we will now place the faucet ball into its slot and reinstall the cam and the chrome bonnet and its handle. We then turn on the water and check if there are still leaks.

That is how we maintain and keep our kitchen faucets free from any damages. Now we can fix our own kitchen faucet problems whenever they arrive.

Quality TVs and What They Do For the World

It is no surprise, as most people know, that television is one of the largest pastimes for folks all over the world. Television is something that some people will even base their life and what they do in their day to day activities, to coincide with what they want to see that is on television. So, I am not down talking television at all, in fact, I am jumping right there on the bandwagon with the rest of the world. I love TV. I like certain programs as well as sitting down and watching a really good movie. I will admit that. That said; Why not watch on the TV that you love.

As everyone knows, there are multiple televisions in just about every retail store imaginable such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, etc. The list goes on and on. That does not even scratch the surface of the deals you can get online. They are simply everywhere and there are multiple kinds that you can get as well. There are different styles, but many have opted to go with these new generation flat screens that tend to take up much less space and still look awesome. You can even take it further than that though. There are differences such as plasma, LCD, LED, and the old standard types as well. It all boils down to what you prefer and what is right for you.

When you are considering a new television and trying to find out what type of television it is that you want, there are a few things to consider. When plasma TVs burst onto the scene, they were spectacular. They had the best screen picture and many thought after them. The downfall was that you were most definitely going to pay extra cash for that quality picture. On the other hand, you could get a good quality LED screen that cost much less and only loses a bit of the quality. The problem is that many just did not want to take that cheap route. Plasma screens were hot and everyone wanted one so the market was high and so were the prices. Times have changed a bit now and manufacturers of LED screens have all but done the plasma screen market. Do not get me wrong, plasma screens are still awesome. I personally have a Hitachi myself and love it, but the difference in quality from LED to plasma has become minimal.

The price on one can range from just a couple hundred bucks to a few thousand bucks. It all depends on the features that you want in a TV. Those features can be HD, 3D, multiple outputs, multi channel screens, etc. It is all about what you want, and that will basically determine what you will have to pay for one. I highly suggest you read other reviews or personally go look at a TV before making that ultimate decision and for jumping out the money for a new TV. But, either way, I'm sure you will be over-pleased with your newest asset!

Suffering From Business Burnout? COP's is Here to Help You!

Business burnout can be suffered by any business owner, whether you own and manage an online business or brick-and-mortar business. Most people would agree that business burnout can occur for many different reasons but the most common reasons are (1) When a person tries to do every task on their own or (2) they do not know their limitations and try to do everything for Everyone, and actually end up neglecting themselves.

Here are 3 common ways to get control over your "business burnout":

1) Chart – (also known as "plan") Make a list of every task that needs to be accomplished, whether its personal, household or business related. Once you have everything written down assign a day of the week that you can solely focus on that specific task. Remember, every task should help you reach your goal. Charting your tasks and goals are very important for any size business. Here's a little exercise that can help you chart your way to success. Get a large piece of paper and draw a bulls-eye with about 5 rings. The middle ring is your ultimate goal, from there each ring would be a step towards your goal. The most outer ring would be where you are today. Beside each task you should give yourself a date that represents the date you would like to begin and end each goal. Making sure you are giving yourself ample time to get a task completed makes you more focused and relaxed, there's nothing worse than getting yourself upset over a task that was not completed in an unrealistic time frame to begin with. Charing takes a little effort and some getting used to, but the pay off in the end will be worth it. If you are completely unable to focus on charting by yourself, then utilizing the assistance of a virtual assistant or business coach will be to your best advantage.

2) Outsource-Outsourcing is not just for the "big businesses" anymore! Every business can benefit from outsourcing, if its done correctly. If you look at your competition or sometimes a company that you admire, you'll see that they have a team in place, with most projects and tasks being outsourced to another company. The owner does not do every task himself, in fact his business is so large in part by having a team of specialists in place so that he / she can now focus on other aspects of the business. Outsourcing does not have to cost you a small fortune, if done correctly in the beginning. That's why its so important to have your chart in front of you at all times.

3) (Be) Purposeful- Did you know purposeful means "compulsive, determined, driven"? To be successful in business every decision you make should be made on purpose and with a purpose. I find it very intriguing how some people just jump into their businesses without a purpose and when they do not see the increase in sales right away they give up. They might have a goal in mind, say for instance "I want to make $ 1,000 per week in sales" This is a statement, not a goal. What is it that you really want out of owning and running your own business? It can be as simple as you not wanting to work for someone else. Being a purposeful business owner takes time, a lot of thought and an inner desire to make it to the next level and stick with your business. Being purposeful in charting your business must include having a team in place. You can not do it all yourself.

COPs is not just for law anymore, it's what helps your business succeed in this world and help you fulfill your business dreams. Remember the next time you feel like throwing in the towel, hanging up a "closed" sign and shutting your business doors, that COPs is right here waiting on you.

Time to Think About What We Eat – 10 Foods Which Are a Definite No-No for Everyone

Certainly, you are what you eat. Your foremost step towards a healthy lifestyle is to realize that most NOT to eat foods are often tasty, but killers. While grain products, caffeine and alcoholic beverages are well known unhealthy foods with great taste, the list does not end there. There are many unhealthy foods that you must be avoiding, but for now here, we would like to highlight 10 food products to be avoided by everyone.

1. Artificial sweetener- the bitter sweet substitute

The artificial sweeteners and other sugar substitutes termed sugar-free may indeed help you cut down calories, but definitely are not magic bullets. While they work well for weight management, they are venomous to your health. Ironically, these zero calories products, for your waistline are as bad as the high calorie- sugar. A recent research conducted at the University of Texas, where two mice were fed with artificial sweetener and free-diet respectively, proves to be an evident justification to this statement. It was found that the mice fed with artificial sweetener had higher blood sugar level than the one left on free-diet. One of the major side effects found by excessive use of artificial sweeteners is a fluid loss in the human body.

So, it’s time now that you to give this unhealthy product a thumbs down and switch to a natural and organic sugar substitute- honey.

2. Margarine- better than butter, but not best

Margarine is prepared using vegetable oil, and for this reason it has been considered a healthy substitute for butter. The myth buster here is, that though margarine has comparably less cholesterol and saturated fat than butter, the high salt content and trans fat in margarine causes severe clogging of arteries in the human body. The saturated fat present in margarine increases blood cholesterol level, eventually leading us to heart diseases- dietary experts say. If you are looking for a softer and healthier spread, taking reference from nutritionists, we suggest you to go for sources that contain monounsaturated fat (olive oil is the best bet).

3. Frosting-the icing not so cool

We know that it’s difficult to resist that tempting icing on cakes and cookies, but for your good health, you got to bid farewell to that fancy frosting. Researches say that frosting is the only item in the grocery stores today that has huge amount of trans fats, and trans fat, is an enemy of your body shape. Moreover, trans fat reduces good cholesterol and increases bad cholesterol, giving way to rapid development of belly fat and heart diseases. So, when you see that delicious cake coming to you at the party, force yourself to say-please, no frosting!

4. Processed baked food- easy for plate, uneasy for stomach

Those pre-packaged yummy baked food products undeniably give you effortless food on plate, but what to your stomach? As these food products are created aiming longer shelf life, they contain high sugar content and preservatives to keep them eatable for quite a time. Their unhealthy ingredients cause skin inflammation, increase calories in your body and also build unwanted fat around your glands. Also, they are not easy to digest. Instead of picking this unwholesome wrapped stuff, kill your snack desires by grabbing some fresh fruit.

5. Food Dyes- a rainbow of risks

Food colors or dyes might make food tempting and presentably good, but they are a major reason for the increasing cases of food poisoning in children today. The severity of food dyes have been so vast that many health advocates tried to band food dyes because of their adverse effects on human and animals, both. It was found that certain food dyes contain synthetic chemicals and contaminants that cause cancer. Take those toxic food color bottles off your kitchen shelve now and make use of leftover fruits and vegetables to add in that good look to your food.

6. Starch Food- friend to energy, foe to health

While there are still debates going on whether to eat all starchy food or not, experts say that health is best when one refrains from starchy foods like pasta, rice, bread, French fries, cakes and cookies, etc. All these foods, though seem good for extracting nutrients, they are high in starch. Scientifically, some starches metabolize quicker than sugar, causing rapid increase in the blood sugar. Studies have proved that starchy foods also contain a chemical called acrylamide, which, when inhaled in large amounts leads to severe brain and sensory diseases. Now that you know you have been eating a lot unhealthy stuff all the while, scratch of that starchy food product from your dinner menu and switch to a no-starch diet today.

7. Soda- a bottle of sugary acid

Do you know that when you drink Soda, you drink nothing but a can of water with about 10 packets of sugar in it?! Besides having high sugar content, this not so healthy drink also contains carbonic acid- a very corrosive ingredient, just enough to damage your health. Also, caffeine in soda reduces calcium from bones, which eventually weakens your bones and in severe cases, it leads to dysfunction of the bones as well. The good old fashioned H2O is always the best way to quench your thirst, but if desire something flavorful, squeeze in some citrus fruits for a relishing and relaxing taste.

8. Soya Sauce- poisons slowly and secretly

Soy sauce- a hidden ingredient which has known to cause more disasters to health than any other sauces. Though soya contains less calories and has certain good vitamins, the high sodium content in soya is the sole reason it must be taken off your ingredient list. Nutrition experts say that most cases of skin inflammation, bloating and hypertension in the human body are a consequence of eating products containing soya sauce. Replace soya sauce with a healthier option- the maple syrup; and believe us, you won’t know the difference in taste!

9. Dairy Products- all that’s white, is not always right

Over the years you may have been taught that dairy products are good for your health but, let us correct you here. Dairy products are good for energy, but certainly not for health. After extensive researches and surveys, US dietary experts have come to conclusion that dairy products build saturated fats in human body. These saturated fats not only cause problems like obesity and indigestion, but also are a huge risk to your heart. Instead of choosing whole dairy products keep yourself healthy, switch to skim or low-fat dairy products.

10. Theatre Popcorn- the calorie bombs

The interval of that movie is not for you to go and gobble up calories, so why those calorie bombs– popcorn?! It has been found that theatre popcorn is prepared using coconut oil, which consists about 90% of saturated fat. Ironically, even when you eat a medium sized theatre popcorn tub, you consume calories equivalent to three fast-food burgers and going worse, a saturated fat equivalent to a full stick of butter. Thus, make your movie breaks healthier by ordering some healthy snack or an energy drink to keep you relished all through.

Herbicides to Use Against Invading Water Chestnuts

Water Chestnuts as we all know is one aquatic vegetable that grows in marshes under the mud. This edible vegetable has many benefits to its credit. However, while we enjoy eating water chestnut, there is another community of people for whom it becomes an obstacle. For boaters and swimmers, it largely becomes a hurdle as it prevents them from swimming along local rivers.

Now the question is like many aquatic plants that can be treated via herbicides, can water chestnut also be treated through herbicides.

Methods of controlling the growth of water chestnut

There are primarily two ways by which you can curb the growth of water chestnut

1 Manual extraction- Extracting it or pulling it out manually from the roots, before the drop of their seeds is one method that can be used to get rid of these.

2. Applying an effective herbicide such as Aquacide Pellets with 2, 4-D – Application of an effective aquatic herbicide can kill the plant and even prevent its re-growth.

Before application of the herbicide it’s important that you carefully read the instructions at the back of the label and then apply it cautiously. Usually, no side-effects have been witnessed so far; however it’s important that you understand the reservations that come along with the chemical. The choice of herbicides is also important as a right kind of herbicide can give you early results. Use of spray based herbicides has an instant reaction on the water chestnut and the results can be seen within a week of the treatment. This type of herbicide is also safe and causes no harm to fishes as well.

If you are mixing the chemical with the herbicide, it’s advised that the treated water should not be used in the following:

• Don’t use this water to irrigate nurseries, garden or greenhouses for 21 days.

• Treated water should not be used if the concentration is greater than 50pbb for irrigation till the residue level is less than 50ppb.

• It’s advised not to plant sugar beets, potatoes, onions in soils that have been irrigated with treated water previously. You must know if the soil bioassay validates adequate levels of crop tolerance.

With the above two easy methods, you can kill water chestnuts. If you think you are incapable of performing the herbicidal treatment, it’s advised to call a practitioner. A professional with hands-on experience can bring in efficacy and do justice to the entire job. He will tell you when to perform the repeat treatment, if at all it needs to be performed. What all signals to watch out for and how you can monitor the process of killing.

Air Conditioner Installation

Air conditioners have become an essential part of many households and there are a variety of air conditioners available on the market for different prices, serving different purposes and under different brand names. Buying an AC is not at all difficult, due to the many companies selling them these days. The tougher task is the installation once the unit has been purchased.

Correct installation is very important, as it has quite a bearing on the actual effect of the air conditioner. Incorrect installation can lead to high electricity bills, poor cooling air circulation, as well as maintenance problems. Many studies have proven that air conditioners that are improperly installed reduce its capacity and efficiency by more than twenty percent. Incorrect airflow problems are another common problem with improper AC installations. In fact, specific air conditioner installation is one of the four elements needed to maintain an economic, efficient and comfortable cooling system.

There are four things that one must keep in mind while installing the air conditioner. First, it is important that the airflow over the fan coil unit goes through the forced air duct system in the air handler. Secondly, the refrigerant charge must be at a proper level. Third, the outdoor air supply unit must be fixed in the right place. Finally, the control system, especially the thermostat that turns the equipment on and off, must be at a hands reach. These general installation guidelines are applicable to all installations. Air conditioners come with an installation guide that should be read thoroughly and can prove to be quite an asset.

However, these days almost all companies offer to send a technician to your home or business to install the air conditioner, and it is advisable to allow an installation professional handle the work.

I Can See My Scalp Through My Hair – Advice That May Help

I get a lot of emails from folks who tell me that they are quite alarmed because they are noticing more and more scalp showing through their thinning hair.  Sometimes this has been a gradual slide and sometimes it’s sudden.  But no matter how it has happened, it’s alarming because for the folks that it happens to, it can be seen as the first step toward baldness.  And, in your own mind, it just makes your hair loss or thinning that much more noticeable, making treatment or camouflage that much more dire. There are many reasons that this happens and I will go over some of the causes, treatments, and camouflages in the following article.

Genetic Causes Of Hair Thinning To The Scalp: Probably the most common cause of hair that thins so severely that you can see straight through is genetics or a sensitivity to androgens or DHT (called AGA or androgenic alopecia.)  And, you don’t need a bald father or grandfather to have this and women are not excluded.  There are many people with this condition with no family history whatsoever.  What happens in this cycle is that your healthy follicles which produce and maintain quality hair become affected and eventually choked out by androgens.  So, you will shed or lose more hair prematurely and what does grow back comes in more fine and thin so that it is not sufficient to offer enough coverage to completely cover and obscure your scalp.

Treatment for AGA is really two fold.  First, you have to drastically slow down the loss.  Many people will do this via DHT blockers, but I firmly believe that you can’t eliminate all androgens and since you have that sensitivity, you are better off addressing the sensitivity.  Because even a little bit of androgens remaining are going to still wreak havoc. Second, you have to be able to successfully stimulate your scalp to produce a healthy hair again.  Often, the hair cycles become so badly affected that you’ll have to go through several improving cycles until everything is functioning normally again.

Medical Causes Of Severe Thinning:  There are some medical conditions that cause the hair to thin so badly that scalp is showing through.  Other than the obvious (like chemotherapy and radiation), there are thyroid and adrenal issues, severe illness or stress, and autoimmune reactions.  Occasionally, people have reactions to medications, foods, or products, but this is pretty rare.  The obvious treatment for this type of hair loss is to treat the underlying medical condition.  And, after that it doesn’t hurt to still aggressively stimulate regrowth and reduce the inflammation that often comes along side this type of hair loss.

Chronic Shedding (Or CTE:)  Shedding more than 100 strands per day for a time period of less than six months is called telogen effluvium or TE.  Having this condition for longer than half a year is called CTE (the chronic variety.)  And, if this condition goes on long enough, it can look like AGA because the regrowth simply doesn’t have the chance to catch up or do any good because everything is being rapidly shed out.  Often CTE is caused by a trigger that hasn’t properly been identified or treated.  The best way to handle it is to eliminate the trigger for good, but this too is easier said than done because folks with CTE are often very hormonally vulnerable and often the treatments can cause a new round of hair loss.  That’s why I really advocate the use of very gradual topicals so that you aren’t affecting anything internally that could cause you to shed more. CTE does usually have an inflammation component (inflammation isn’t the cause, but the result) so it never hurts to reduce inflammation and stimulate the scalp.

Camouflaging A See Through Scalp: If the problem isn’t yet that bad, you can try styling your hair around it.  Lifting at the root, combing forward or to the side, or wearing your hair in a ponytail or adding waves and curls can all help.  If you’re beyond this because your hair has become too thin, there are powders that match your hair color that will help blend in the white of the scalp (toppik, couvre, etc.)  I’ve actually heard of people dying or coloring their scalps, but I would think that this would cause a lot of inflammation. Finally, there are toppers are hair pieces that only cover the problem area and blend in with the rest of your hair.  You may have to search a while for one that looks absolutely realistic, but it’s not impossible.

Best Case Scenarios: Of course, it’s best to eliminate the problem rather than covering it up.  I always urge folks to never give up on trying to uncover the real cause and the effective solution for their hair loss.  You’re never out of the game until you give up, so don’t give up.  Cover it as best you can, but keep looking for a workable solution that helps to stop your loss and regrow hair.

Breast Kissing Techniques – Making Breast Foreplay Count

Sexual foreplay is indispensable to giving your woman the kind of arousal that will bring on an orgasm she’ll really enjoy. In this regard, there are a number of “erogenous zones” on a woman’s body, one of which is the breasts. But every woman is different … and there is a right and a wrong way to fondle and caress her breasts. In this article, we will focus on the best ways to kiss a woman’s breasts so that you please her and make her feel that she really means something to you.

For a man, a woman’s breasts can be a real turn-on – but for a woman, they have often been something she associates with nurture. So you need to ensure that when dealing with this part of her body, you don’t give her the impression that you’re just there to “feed” on her for your own satisfaction. She needs to know that you’re “giving” not “receiving.”

So here’s what to do:

Begin by gently kissing around her breasts, with soft, moist lips. As you do so, gradually move towards the nipples and when you arrive at that spot, exhale on her nipples so that she feels the sensation of your warm breath. As you focus on the nipples themselves, start by using the tip of your tongue to circle around the nipple in a light “tickling” fashion. Don’t just focus on one breast alone – remember, she has two of them!

Then you want to caress the nipples themselves with your tongue and while doing so, be alert to signs that she may be enjoying it. If she sighs, moans or makes a sudden movement, it means she’s enjoying the experience. Take note of this, because you want to read her body language so you know just how she likes it.

You should soon feel her nipples begin to protrude. This is the point where you should harden your tongue and being flicking it back and forth over the now erect nipples. If her nipples haven’t hardened yet, then suck each one gently and as you release it, exhale over it. The evaporative effect will produce an icy sensation which should do the job. Now suck the nipple and very lightly nibble on it, perhaps using your lip instead of bottom teeth as support, so there’s some “give.”

You want to cup the breast in your hand as you’re doing this. There is a good chance that by this time, other parts on the breast will be more sensitive, so kissing or licking under the breast or between them should turn her on. Don’t pay attention to only one breast – move between each one and while giving this kind of attention to one, gently rub or lightly pinch the other one – but make sure you have wet it with your tongue first. This can make a difference between an association in her mind with a breast feeder or a lover.

A critical thing to remember is, to not get too rough or to suck too hard. You don’t want to hear her say the words “I’m not a cow, you know.”   Be very gentle!

A final word of advice – communicate with your partner! If you’re in a committed relationship, ask her what she likes and how she likes it. Some women don’t even enjoy light nibbling while others like it if you bite them. Everyone is different. Some women have sensitive breasts while other don’t, particularly if they’ve had implants. The most important thing is to pay attention. If you work out what she really enjoys, you can make her happy every time.

Creating a Beautiful Solar Landscape Lighting Plan

With all of the advantages available to a homeowner who selects solar lighting, a great deal of flexibility is available when planning a design to illuminate your favorite home and garden features. Solar accent lights are available in many sleek designs from numerous manufacturers. Gone are the days of the generic canned solar lights with no real character for your yard. Now there are multiple fixtures offering various LED colors and light fixtures that offer multiple display and mounting options. This presents homeowners with great flexibility and opportunity with solar powered accent lighting readily available at retail sites or on the internet.

Understanding that investing in solar lights will be nearly cost and maintenance free, you can become very creative in your design planning. You can also feel great about the costs you are saving for electricity and for doing your part to protect the environment. Here are a few tips that you can use when designing your landscape lighting plan.

Too Much Light Is Too Much: Your yard is not the Las Vegas Strip so do not overdo it with too much light. You certainly want adequate lighting for safety and security but you do not want to flood out the night. Too much light creates the wrong atmosphere and you want to allow light from the moon and stars to also have an influence on your home and garden features.

Light Your Ways: Many homeowners have pathways, driveways, walkways, or any combination of these. Use accent lighting to create a safe pathway for easy navigation. Many time landscape paths have edges or slight drop-offs or steps that should be illuminated for safe stepping. Driveways are another place to create an illuminated path so that vehicles can safely enter and exit the driveway without damaging other plants or other items that may be displayed nearby.

There are many solar accent lighting fixtures with ground stakes that can be easily placed to create a landing strip type of feel for your pathways and driveways. A series of smaller less intensive lights separated by equal distances of four to six feet creates a great pathway or driveway. Even if you do not have identified paths along your home or garden you will want to illuminate your favorite route for easy walking.

Let The Moon Be Your Guide: This relates to the first step. As a suggestion you may not want to light your landscape any brighter that a night presenting a full moon without cloud interference. Your garden lighting should not overwhelm your yard.

Notice The Light Not The Source: You want to provide accent lighting to your yard for safety, security, and to present the best features of your landscape. When possible try to hide the source of your lights unless they have a decorative design to improve your display. You want the attention on the light but not the light fixtures themselves. Solar powered spotlights are a great example as they are smaller and generally installed close to ground level. They can be aimed in various directions allowing for a more intense light to be displayed upward while the fixture itself easily blends into surrounding plants or at the base of a tree or rock.

Apply In Moderation: Do not overdo it with too many decorative light fixtures. You can choose a few different fixtures but try and stay consistent throughout your design. A few carefully chosen fixtures with similar LED colors and outputs allows you to display great style and taste to your home and garden. Too many different fixtures with too many colors or changes will not offer the presentation for you.

Show Your Favorite Features: If you have a favorite tree or a beautiful water feature or a stunning rock or sculpture bring attention to it. Illuminating the trunk of a beautiful tree or its branches brings out a lot of beauty that your landscape has to offer. These features often are more impressive at night and tend to stand out more with accent lights or spotlights highlighting them at night.

10 Interesting Facts about Archangel Gabriel

1. Gabriel means: “God is my strength” or “God is mighty.” Gabriel is one of only two angels mentioned by name in the Bible. Michael is the other. Raphael is mentioned in the Apocrypha, which is included in the Catholic Bible.

2. Gabriel appears in the Bible as a messenger on important occasions. The most famous example of this is the Annunciation when he visited the Virgin Mary and told her to prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ (Luke 1:26-38).

3. Gabriel has always had a close association with maternity. An ancient legend says that she announced the birth of Samson. She appeared to Zacharias to tell him that he and his wife Elizabeth should prepare for the birth of a son, John the Baptist (Luke 1:5-25). In the Jewish tradition it is believed that Gabriel instructs the baby while it is in the womb.

4. Although not identified by name, many Christians believe that Gabriel announced Christ’s birth to the shepherds, warned Mary and Joseph that Herod’s soldiers were searching for Jesus, and rolled away the stone that sealed the tomb of Jesus.

5. Gabriel is considered the Archangel of Dreams, Premonitions and Clairvoyance. This came about after she helped Daniel to understand the significance and symbolism of his strange dreams (Daniel 8:16-27).

6. In 98 C.E. a strange letter containing “the Commandments of Jesus Christ” appeared. It was supposedly written by Gabriel and became a relic of the early church. The originals of this letter have never been produced, but copies were sold in England as lucky charms to provide safe childbirth and to protect the owner from evil and harm.

7. According to the Harmonists, a nineteenth-century religious sect, Gabriel visited their leader, Father George Rapp, in New Harmony, Indiana, and even left her footprint on a limestone slab. It can still be seen today.

8. In the Christian tradition, Gabriel will blow the horn to wake the dead on Judgment Day. The Judgement card in the Tarot deck illustrates this. Cole Porter wrote the song Blow, Gabriel, Blow for his 1934 musical Anything Goes.

9. Gabriel appeared to Muhammad and dictated the Koran to him. In the Islamic tradition, Gabriel also taught Noah how to build his ark from the famed cedar trees of Lebanon. Muslims also believe that Gabriel presented Abraham with the Black Stone of the Kaba. Everyone who makes the annual pilgrimage to Mecca kisses this stone.

10. One of the most remarkable stories about Gabriel is the Islamic belief that she invented coffee. One night, when Muhammad was extremely tired, Gabriel brought him a cup of coffee. This not only kept him awake, but also gave him the necessary strength to defeat forty horsemen, and to satisfy forty women.

Treadmill Belts – What’s The Difference

Walking belts are known by many different names, but there is not a difference in the basic accepted design even though different people may not use the same term to name a walking belt. Other names are: treadmill belt, striding belt, running belt, jogging belt, bands (with the same descriptive variations), runner, and mat.

For simplicity, we call it a walking belt but our terminology does not limit the type of exercise that you can do. There are different grades of walking belts and they can vary widely in terms of quality and price depending upon the type of construction. Most walking belts are made with two different types of materials that are formed together to form the finished product you see. Most people assume the belt’s top coat is rubber but most today have a PVC top coat. PVC tends to hold up better under a wide range of shoes and applications and due to its strength, many people are fooled into thinking that their belt is OK when the backing is completely worn out.

The backing of the belt is the most important area. The most popular backing materials are monofilament, polyester, cotton, and urethane. Of these backings, the softer the material the less noise the belt will make. So a cotton backed belt will be much quieter than a urethane belt. The trade off is that the softer the material and the less noisy the belt the quicker the belt tends to wear out. Many companies over the last 20 years that once used cotton have now switched over to a polyester blend. The main advantage is that the belt is still rather quiet but it is more heat resistant and is tougher over the long run in its ability to withstand wear.

A backing that is growing in popularity is monofilament. This uses a single type of fiber. Since it uses synthetic materials, it tends to be more heat resistant and can be formed more easily to a rougher backing that will have less surface contact with the deck. The reason this is important is that less contact area will result in less friction which puts far less strain on the motor and controller. The drawback to a monofilament belt is that it noisier than either cotton or polyester backing. Another drawback is that since it is a single fiber, it tends to have less tensile strength than woven or urethane fibers.

The most expensive backing is urethane. It also tends to be the noisiest but if you maintain a urethane backing properly, we’ve seen them last over 10 years in a light commercial setting. It is a very durable material that has the best ability to withstand the rigors of heavy use and the heat buildup that is normally associated with club use.

There is much confusion about layers of a walking belt. Most companies advertise a 2 ply belt but some claim as many as 4 plies. The confusion arises because more layers is not necessarily a better thing. As HealthRider found out several years ago, a very thick belt can be a disaster. HealthRider took a standard 2 ply belt and then glued a layer of carpeted neoprene to the top of a standard belt. The result was a 3 ply (or 4 ply depending upon how you interpret the final addition to the belt) which now had a nice insulation layer of neoprene that did an incredible job of holding in heat and emphasized the potential problem of using a multi-layered belt. Even in a residential setting, the HealthRider belts simply fell apart from the wide variance in heat they experienced. Fortunately for the consuming public HealthRider stopped using these belts a few years ago.

Other companies will advertise an orthopedic belt that has either additional layers or a thicker top layer that helps cushion the foot fall. Once again, our big problem with these belts is heat problems and the fact that many of these belts can weigh as much as 3 to 4 times as much as a regular 2 ply belt. The heavier the belt, the harder the drive system has to work to keep moving the belt around. Combine that with the heat problems inherent in a thicker belt – remember, its’ better insulated – and you can quickly see why we aren’t big fans of the orthopedic belts.

If you are choosing a new treadmill pay attention to the walking belt. It is the heart of a treadmill despite popular opinion naming another part. If you already have a treadmill, maintain your belt and keep it clean and your treadmill will thank you for it in the long run.

Wood Floor Repair – Why It Pays to Get the Professionals In

Beautiful solid wood flooring can look wonderful, creating a real sense of style and individuality and a modern, contemporary feel within any home. There are many different types of real wood flooring, each with a look that is entirely its own. Aged or distressed flooring, the distinctive lines of parquet flooring, there’s engineered wood flooring and strip floors as well as mosaic panels and end grain wood block floors.

Aged & distressed flooring

Aged wood flooring or distressed flooring presents a stylish, lived in look. It looks, for all the world, as if your flooring has been laid for years and adds a certain authenticity to your home. Aged and distressed flooring is also a very practical choice for both homes and commercial properties because it keeps looking good for longer. The rugged, worn, lived in appearance will not show the scratches and marks caused by everyday usage. They are also a popular choice because they never require sanding unlike other types of wood floors.

Parquet flooring

Parquet wooden floors are a very popular choice and one of the reasons for this is that a parquet floor can be laid in so many different ways, with so many different patterns. The patterns available are Herringbone, Double Herringbone, Single Basket Weave, Treble Basket Weave and Chevron. You can also opt for parquet panels, parquet borders, parquet motifs and parquet floor medallions.

Engineered wood flooring

Engineered floors can be installed which either floating on underlay, are secretly nailed to existing wood sub floors or fully glued to the concrete or timber sub floor. Engineered floors are very good if you need to reduce the noise level in a room and they work well with under floor heating systems. Engineered wood floors are available in a wide range of sizes from 14mm 3 strip floors to 20mm structural engineered wide planks. Strip Floors

There is wide choice of solid tongue and grooved strip flooring available which his available in European Oak, French Oak, American Black Walnut, Wenge, Distressed Oak, Reclaimed Pine and Merbau. Strip wood floors, like engineered wood flooring, can be secret nailed to timber sub floors or glued to concrete sub floors but unlike engineered wood floors, they are not recommended for use with under floor heating systems. Strip floors are very easy to maintain and can be sanded many times to refresh their look making them great value for money.

Mosaic Panels Mosaic Panels, also known as finger parquet, is an old style of flooring used a lot in the 1960’s and is available in European Oak, Mahogany, Teak and Merbau. If fitting mosaic panels to a wood or concrete base, an epoxy glue should be used but if the panels have a felt backing then a spirit based adhesive should be used. End grain wood block floors

End grain wood block flooring is available in a number of wood species including European Larch, European Oak, European Smoked Oak, Pine and Spruce. The wood is cut across the growth rings to produce a very different look to that achieved using the more usual strip flooring. It is extremely hard wearing and so is ideal for areas that experience a lot of foot traffic.

Wood floor repairs

From time to time your wooden floor will need repairing, either to remove scratches or stains or even to correct a floor that was badly laid in the first place. Scratches can be sanded away using fine to medium sand paper but it is recommended that any stained floorboards be replaced because, depending how deeply the stain has entered the wood, you may have to sand quite hard to get the stain out and this could mean that section of flooring will not look the same as the rest.

If you are fortunate enough to inherit an original wood floor or are looking to restore a floor you covered years ago with carpet, you may need to carry out some repairs. This may involve replacing sections of the old wood floor with new wood. Should you need to do this, it is advisable to source wood that, as closely as possible, matches the original wood, in colour and type.

Once the repairs have been carried out, the floor should be machine sanded to a fine finish and any gaps filled. With this done you can set about staining the floor to your chosen colour. Sometimes, stains in your flooring will only become apparent after the floor is machine sanded or even after applying the new chosen finish. If this happens, you may choose to replace that section or leave it because it adds character to your floor.

Original parquet floors were glued and pinned using copper headed pins. Over the years, these eroded leaving staining around each fixing. Unfortunately these stains cannot be removed, but it must be said, they form part of the floors character. When installing new parquet flooring, stainless steel headless pins are used to prevent this problem from occurring in the future.

Why it is important to hire a professional?

With the ever increasing number of DIY shows on television, a lot of people are attempting to restore their own wood floors only to find it’s not as easy as it looks on telly. Professional wooden floor restoration companies will have invested in the right machinery for the job and also in the right training.

Having no experience and using machines which are not forgiving can cause extreme damage to your wood floor and can reduce its life by as much as 50% so it is important to employ a company whose employees are fully trained and qualified in wood floor restoration. This will ensure that the smallest amount of wood is removed during the sanding process and will therefore extend the life of your floor.

Hiring a professional to do the job will leave you with the perfect finish and may even end up saving you money, after all it would be a lot more expensive to attempt the job yourself, hire the machines, buy the sand paper and finishing materials, only to then have to hire in the professionals to redo the job afterward because you are unhappy with the finish.

What should a person look for when choosing a flooring supplier?

When looking for a company to supply and fit your flooring, you should look for a company that can prove the quality of their work. Ask to see examples of their work or at least pictures of it and ask them to produce genuine testimonials.

Ask to see proof of their qualifications. Properly qualified UK flooring contractors will have passed City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 in floor coverings and should have passed there health & safety test and hold a valid CSCS card for commercial works.

Check out the equipment they plan to use and ask what measures they put in place to minimise dust, the last thing you want is to be cleaning the house for weeks after they’ve gone.

Confirm that they offer a free no-obligation survey and quotation.

Cardiomyopathy – Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscles which affects the function of the heart to pump blood efficiently to the entire body. Common symptoms include breathlessness, swelling of the lower extremities, abdominal bloating, fatigue, palpitations and dizziness. Coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, high blood pressure, metabolic disorders and prolonged alcohol and drug abuse are the common causes of this condition. Cardiomyopathy can be mainly of 3 types: dilated, hypertrophic and restrictive. Cardiomyopathy may result in complications like heart failure, thrombosis and cardiac arrest.

The Ayurvedic treatment of cardiomyopathy is aimed at reducing the symptoms and treating the cause of the condition. Medicines like Laxmi-Vilas-Ras, Shrung-Bhasma, Makar-Dhwaj, Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) are used to improve heart function and reduce symptoms like breathlessness, swelling of the ankles and bloating. Triphala-Guggulu, Medohar-Guggulu, Triphala (Three fruits), Trikatu (Three pungent herbs), Lashuna (Allium sativum), Psyllium (Plantago ovata), Shallaki (Boswellia serrata), Guggulu (Commiphora mukul) and Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa) are used to treat coronary artery disease.
