The Importance of the Great Compromise

Why Was the Great Compromise important? The Great Compromise was the plan that gave rise to the establishment of the Senate and the House of Representatives in America. The Senate and the House of Representatives play a major role in the government and they form the legislative branch of the government. Many people wonder what is the main reason why was the Great Compromise important.

1. The first answer to the question why was the Great Compromise important is because it has managed to create the proper structure for the American government. There were two major plans that were given for the structure of the government. The first one was called the Virginia Plan and the second one was called the New Jersey Plan. In the first one plan’s proposal, the government will have three main branches. The plan also indicated that there should be two branches for the legislature. The first branch would be chosen by the citizen through their votes. The second branch would be the ones that the first branch has selected. The Virginia Plan also proposed that the legislative branch should be the one to appoint the judges and the president of the country.

2. The second answer to the question why was the Great Compromise important is because it allowed for some of the details in the second plan, the New Jersey Plan to be included. The major issue however was that it gave a lot of power to the states in America that were big in population. The New Jersey plan added that there should only be a single house. The makers for the New Jersey plan suggested that each state should have the same number of house representatives.

3. The third answer to the question why it was important is because it merged the two great plans into the best plan together. The Virginia Plan proposed that there should be two houses and the New Jersey Plan proposed there should be one house. The Great Compromise took the best contents from the two plans to have one concrete deal.

4. The fourth answer to the question why it was important is because it has enabled the two houses to have good interaction at all times. The Great Compromise stated that the Lower House should be the branch that would tackle anything related to taxes and allocating of funds. The Senate can always amend their actions however. The Senate has the power to change their actions, thus allowing for the two legislative branches to efficiently work.

Expat Banking – Personal Finance For the Intrepid Investor

Here at Q Wealth we often receive emails and calls from people who are confused about how to manage their finances once they become expats or non-residents. I’m not talking so much about tax preparation or returns, but rather about the practical aspects of banking across borders.

For example: Do you need an offshore bank account? What is the difference between a multi-currency account and multiple currency accounts? Should I keep my money in the country where I am living? Can I still access my online brokerage account from overseas? These are all typical questions we are asked, and I will answer these and more in this article.

Let’s make up two typical composite characters, Bill and Mary Expat, who are retiring early abroad and planning to travel frequently. To make things easy, let’s say they are American. They have decided they like the laid-back lifestyle of Latin America, but they are still wavering between retiring in one of the more popular expat havens like San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, or Bocas del Toro in Panama… or maybe they would like to go to a more exotic, adventerous place like Columbia or Brazil. They don’t know yet. Either way, getting there is half the fun, and Bill and Mary are determined to enjoy the journey. For the moment, they are going to up stumps and travel!

Bank Accounts and ATM Cash Withdrawals

Bill and Mary are starting out on their journey with a few accounts at banks in their home country, the USA. Like most couples, they have a couple of joint checking accounts, a savings account, a credit union account and a few credit cards.

It’s certainly worth keeping these home country accounts. US checks are still useful in many Latin American countries, where they can be cashed at the friendly neighborhood casa de cambio. This is a good way to access cash for things like daily living expenses or home improvements. Typically the casas de cambio give a better rate of exchange than ATM machines without charging any fees, and without being subject to daily limits. But of course, before they will cash checks for you on the spot, they must know you. It is best to referred by an existing client, so ask around the “expat experts” in your chosen area.

US bank accounts will also be useful for paying bills at home. Regular bills like insurance payments may be debited automatically, while one-off bills might be best paid by mailing a check. Regular income like social security checks can be direct deposited into the US checking account.

Many people don’t even know they have daily cash withdrawal or spending limits on their ATM or credit cards until the day they urgently need a reasonably large amount of money. Scared of building up a large amount of cash at home, they wait until the last minute to withdraw funds, assuming that because they have the money in their account, they can withdraw it using their debit cards.

Big mistake! They have to pay their builders in cash and the cash dispenser refuses to spit out the money. In addition to that, many countries have just one or two ATM networks and these networks automatically impose their own daily limits.

It’s important to understand in this respect that there are actually three different types of daily limits you must contend with:

o Daily cash withdrawal limit imposed by the bank that issues the card

o Daily purchase limit imposed by the bank that issues the card – this applies to non-cash purchases, where you sign a card purchase voucher in a retailer.

o Daily cash withdrawal limit imposed by the ATM network owner – this limit is not set by your bank, but by the owner of the actual cash machine where you are conducting the transaction.

That is to say, you can ask the bank that issues your card for a permanent or temporary increase in your cash withdrawal limit. They might set it at $50,000 a day. But most ATMs don’t pay out more than about $500 in one transaction. In this case as far as your card issuer is concerned, you could do 100 transactions of $500 each per day, before you hit their limit.

ATM network owners set their own limits, for a variety of reasons. In Brazil, for example, things are particularly difficult. Withdrawals at night are limited to 50 reals, whereas a taxi across Sao Paulo can easily cost 150 reals. So if you are arriving in Sao Paulo on the red-eye flight, be sure to bring cash and don’t rely on local ATM networks! Argentina and other countries place similar restrictions on ATM withdrawals.

In some countries each bank has a different network. In other countries (Spain for example) you may find one monopoly network that controls virtually all the cash machines. They are the worst! If the network owner says nobody may withdraw more than say $500, their word is law. It doesm’t matter that the card issuer allows you to withdraw $50,000. You will get $500 a day, no more!

Internet Purchases and Credit Cards

When you are starting out in a new country without any established credit record, and as a new, recent arrival resident, it may be hard to obtain a credit card. So it is well worth keeping credit cards from your home country too. But there are a few tips and tricks for playing the cards correctly.

First, inform your card issuer that you will be traveling. Call them in advance. That’s important because these days, all transactions from abroad are viewed with suspicion by automatic tracking software used by all the banks. If your bank doesn’t know you are abroad, the software will most likely prevent you from suddenly spending $500 in Panama. This would, of course, be rather embarrassing if you are just leaving a restaurant with prospective business partners at midnight Panama time, early morning Eastern when your bank is closed, and you were relying on the card to pay the bill.

It’s also worth keeping a US billing address. This may be a PO Box or a private mailbox street address provided by an outfit like The UPS Store or Pakmail. You can get a phone number to go with it from a VOIP provider like Skype. This is important. Although your bank might be happy to mail statements to a foreign address, about 99% of online retailers are not set up to handle US cards with non-US billing addresses. Their systems will automatically detect from the card number that the card is issued in the US, then the same system will require an AVS (Address Verification System) match. AVS only works with US addresses. So if you have a US-issued card with a non-US billing address it is basically useless for internet purchases, and also for any other purchases where your ZIP code is requested (some gas stations in the US for example)

Equally, you should be aware that the unique IP address of each computer on the internet, allows the merchant to see what country the order is being placed from. If you order something that is popular with card fraudsters (like a new laptop, a digital camera or gold jewelery) using a US card, US billing address but a Panama IP address, the transaction will most likely be flagged as potentially fraudulent. Usually in cases like this, you need to pick up the phone and talk to the merchant directly to explain the circumstances, so they can manually override their fraud procedures. Most merchants will be happy to do this, but some simply won’t budge.

Opening a Local Bank Account

At some point you will most likely find you need to deal with the local banking system in the country you are moving to. For example, in most Latin American countries now you can pay your utility bills online rather than standing in line for 45 minutes to pay in cash. But you will need a local bank account to do this.

Bank account opening procedures vary enormously from country to country. Unless you are moving to a known ‘tax haven’ the banking system will probably be geared towards locals, and you might find that you have to demonstrate official residence by means of a permit or local ID card before you are even allowed to open a local bank account. There are often exceptions to these rules – but local bank staff in small-town branches will probably not be familiar with them. It’s best to ask local expats for their recommendations, and to choose a bank and branch that is accustomed to dealing with expats and foreigners.

Either way, before you leave home try to get several copies of a bank reference from your home bank addressed “To Whom it May Concern” and stating that you have been a client for a number of years and that have always operated your account in good standing. These documents will prove very useful when dealing with foreign banks, both local and offshore. If your home bank says they want to address a reference to a specific bank, explain that you are travelling and are planning to buy property overseas, but you don’t yet know in which country you will end up.

It’s not just the account opening procedures that vary a lot depending on the country you go to. So do the services offered, which may be significantly different from what you are used to at home. Make sure you take the time to understand the terms and conditions of operation related to your new account, otherwise your bank might assume one thing while you assume something totally different. For example, how long do you have to wait after making a deposit before you can write a check against it? Some countries have complicated systems of value dates where money might show up in your account even though it is not available for you to spend. If there’s anything you don’t understand, ask your bank.

Do you need a Private Offshore Bank Account?

Banking services vary widely, but are rarely of very high quality. You should probably therefore consider opening an account at an offshore bank that specializes in dealing with non-residents. You can open this in a neutral third country – places like Switzerland, the British Channel Islands, Singapore and Panama are typically good. Big names like Barclays Wealth and HSBC offer these services, as do a multitude of smaller banks. Even in this day and age it should be possible to open non-resident bank accounts by mail, without the need to travel there. You can then operate the account using internet banking and debit or credit cards.

There are two main reasons why you might want to open an offshore account. The first is for convenience – you will be dealing with a sophisticated private banker who speaks your language and can offer the range of international services that you will demand. The second is for privacy and asset protection – offshore banks offer confidentiality and discretion. As you become non-resident of your home country for tax purposes, you will gain substantial tax advantages by moving your money offshore.

One of the convenient services most offshore banks offer expats is the multi-currency bank account. This allows you to keep various currencies in the same account. For ease of use you have just one account mnumber, but you can keep all major currencies there and switch them at will with the click of a mouse. Another useful service is the so-called InvestLoan which allows you to borrow money in one currency at a low rate of interest, then re-invest it in a higher interest currency to make a profit.

Of course this doesn’t necessarily apply if you are moving to a banking center like Panama or the Cayman Islands, but if you are moving to a high tax bureaucratic country like Mexico, Brazil or almost anywhere else in Latin America, you don’t want to put all your assets into the domestic banking system where the government can see them on the radar. Neither do you want to leave them in your home country like the USA which will also try to tax you on those assets!

Another consideration when opening your offshore account is whether to open a personal or corporate account. If privacy is a concern for you, it is generally worthwhile forming an offshore corporation and holding the account in the name of the corporation instead of your personal name. This helps keep your account under the radar, as transfers in and out will not show your name.

If you would like to open a private or company offshore bank account, there are consultants who can help you. They will explain a number of do’s and don’ts, and also direct you to specific banks that you can contact directly in order to open accounts. They can also tell you which banks will open accounts for offshore corporations.

A separate brokerage account is usually a good idea too, since most online offshore banks do not offer great brokerage facilities. But there are some. I know, for example, a European-owned offshore discount brokerage house based in Panama that allows you instant online access to major world markets such as New York, London and Frankfurt.

How to Spot Fake Pearls

If diamonds are a girl's best friend, pearls are a close acquaintance at the very least. The problem with pearls is that it can be difficult to tell real and fake ones apart. Looking at the price tag alone is not enough to decipher the authenticity of pearls. Unfortunately, there are plenty of unscrupulous dealers looking for easy money who will attempt to pass off fakes as the genuine article.

There are a host of fake pearl types including simulated, faux, synthetic, resin and plastic. Real pearls come from fresh water or salt water. If spotting fake pearls was not hard enough, there are also pearls which are half man-made and half natural with coatings applied to them. Below is a list of tests which can help you determine if you are paying for real pearls or imitations.

Cut Them Open

This is an easy way to spot fake pearls; The downside is that it involves destroying them! Not recommended. The inside of real pearls have many layers of nacre. Fake pearls have multiple layers of coating on them and you may even spot a drill hole.

X-Ray

This involves paying a gemologist to x-ray the pearls. This test shows the inside of the pearl. You may see evidence of the existence of the parasite that caused the formation of the natural pearl or signs of a drill hole. This test is pretty accurate but it is extremely expensive so if you discover that your pearl is fake, it will be a double financial disaster!

Sun

This is one of the easiest tests on offer. Simply take your jewelry out under the burning sun or even extremely bright indoor lighting. Genuine pearls will never be perfectly matched under the sun unless they are remarkably expensive. The sun test should be able to help you see variations in their color and iridescence. Pearls that appear to be perfectly matched are probably fake. If you purchase perfectly matched pearls, ensure that a gemologist certificate companies them. You may have to pay for this test but the $ 100-150 it costs is small fry compared to the thousands of dollars you are about to pay for the pearls.

Magnification

Pearls have at least one thing in common with diamonds: Magnification tells you a tremendous amount about both. Real pearls will have ridges whereas fakes will look perfectly smooth. Magnification also allows you to examine drill holes or writing on the setting of the pearls.

Density

For their size, real pearls are heavier than plastic, resin or hollow pearls. However, please note that high quality glass fakes will have approximately the same density as real pearls. Although you can not definitively say if heavy pearls are fake, light ones are certainly not real.

Use Your Teeth

This is not really a good way to determine fake pearls but it may prove useful. Rub the pearls along the sharpest point of your upper front teeth. Real pearls may feel sandy and gritty whereas fake pearls will feel smooth.

If you are hiring to spend big on genuine pearls, an x-ray with a licensed gemologist is your best option. The other tests can also prove useful but some, like the tooth test, are mainly for fun and you should never buy pearls based on such a scientifically unproven method.

Political Correctness Can Kill You

I'm not the most PC writer in the world, obviously.

I have this penchant for using the word "retard" to describe my enemies, random stupid people and even myself whenever I make some bone-headed move. I have nothing against people who are "mentally-challenged" (the PC alternative, if I remember correctly); I just use the term "retard" at its barest: underdeveloped mental capacity. It's a fancy way of saying stupid or dumb or some other synonym. It's not an attempt to disparage or offend anyone; It's just a linguistic choice that somehow became a habit.

I do not understand why people suddenly became so obsessed with terms. Somehow, people bristled at the use of words or terms that somehow hurt their sensitive feelings. Boohoo, darlings!

Whatever happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me"?

I'm the last person to ever underestimate the power of words. It's just that I can not quite figure out why people are so obsessed with the privilege of terms rather than facing the issues head on.

Feminists bristle at the use of terms like "chairman". Last I heard, they've settled on the gender-neutral "chair", a term which, if I remember correctly, also explains to a lifeless piece of furniture that cushions my ass. Some feminists have gone as far as to refer to themselves as "womyn" rather than "women", "herstory" rather than "history".

What exactly are these terms provided to do? Men will not suddenly "see the light" when these terms hit them on the head. The number of female CEOs in the world will not somehow miraculously destroy the corporate glass ceiling.

I have a feeling that these politically correct terms are somehow used to mask the greater issues within. Rather than deal with the actual problems, people pick up these terms and pretent to be concerned. They busy themselves with not offending other people through their writing and speech, yet do not actually have to take the cudgels for the oppressed.

Political correctness is a mask. It allows hypocritical writers to become "acceptable" to society by conforming to this senseless demand for dishonest "politeness". They become respectable members of the world at large, just because they abide by the supposedly correct use of words. Easily off the hook, they no longer need to actually care or consider the issues that surround gender, race, poverty, etc.

The fat hate to be called fat. They're horizontally-challenged. The cripples refuse to be called cripples. They're different-abled. There's a word to describe each and every "unfavorable" term, slowly easing out the things that we deem not pretty or acceptable or normal. Somehow, by acknowledging them through words, society need no longer concern itself with serious issues that require action.

As a writer, I promised never succumb to this political correctness. It's stupid, it's unnecessary and unbelievably unwieldy. Only one principle governs my writing: as long as I do not write with malicious or destructive intent, I am not hurting anyone. Anyone who finds it offensive is free to walk away.

I'd rather be off than a hypocritical liar.

Beside, it seriously cramps my writing style.

Wax Oil Finish On A Wooden Floor

First and foremost, a wood floor with an oiled finish will give the ultimate natural appearance which will age more gracefully. The wood shading will be a little richer and the grain will be more pronounced as the finish is soaking into the wood as opposed to just laying on the surface. An easy way to get an idea of the finished tone is to quickly pour water over a sample piece of the wood. While the wood is wet, the colour should be the same tone as it will be after the oil finish is applied.

When using wood flooring over under-floor heating, a constant drying out of the wood can occur during the heating season without the correct climate control. With a lacquer finished floor, the first signs that the wood is being damaged is linear cracks opening up down the grain. This is due to all the moisture being dried out of the wood. Occasionally this can make the floor beyond repair.

With the same scenario, but with an oiled finish floor, the surface will start to become pale and patchy as the moisture is the moisture is drying out of the floor i.e. the moisture content is leaving the floor. It is then a fairly easy job to apply a thin coating of oil care to the wood which will help to restore the moisture that has been dried out of the floor.

Hard-wax Oil is a fluid penetrating finish that permeates through the hardwood wear layer. This means that the protection becomes inherent into the floor over time thereby becoming more and more resilient. By contrast, a polyurethane lacquer finish although initially maintenance free, ultimately requires. professional time consuming and costly re-finishing.

Parquet floor designs, even a simple herringbone feature wood grains of multiple directions. As sanding a floor should always be in the direction of the grain, this makes re-sanding a parquet floor to a good standard almost impossible.

By contrast, a finished hard-wax oiled floor is as resilient to wear, staining and moisture as most lacquer finishes. With a little regular maintenance, an oiled finish floor will never need to be sanded. There is also the extra advantage of being able to repair localised damage such as scratches and abrasion wear quickly and easily.

Maintenance of a hard wax oil finished floor is simple and straightforward. Always use a natural soap for wet cleaning the flooring. The mop should be well wrung out before using on the floor. Rinse the mop in diluted soap between mopping. Use paper towels to quickly absorb any excess moisture.

Within 2-3 days of installation, the floor should be thoroughly cleaned and a coat of maintenance/ oil care applied to the floor. This will top up the finish and will absorb into the joints and bevels to help protect the wood from moisture ingress. This process should be repeated every 9-12 months or so depending on use. This will keep the floor stain free and resilient to scuffs and marking.

Sewer Sludge Who Burn Our Flag

Anyone who has read anything about the ordeal that our prisoners of war had to end – especially those held by the Japanese during World War II – would appreciate what the flag really means.

Viet Nam and Korean War POWs had it very bad and I do not mean to disparage their hardship; But I have not read where they were subjected to such conditions of slavery and utter inhumane treatment as the POWs from the USS Houston and the other POWs in Japanese prison camps.

I have just finished reading the "Ship of Ghosts" by James D. Hornfischer about the USS Houston which was sunk on March 1, 1942 and the ordinal of the survivors who were taken prisoner. Most of them were sent to work on the Burma-Thailand rail; More commonly called "the railroad of death" because of all the POWs and local people from Burma and Thailand that died from the horrible treatment of the Japanese guards – and their Korean helpers – well over 200,000 people. Some estimates say that there were over 100 deaths for every mile of the railroad built.

The movie, The Bridge on The River Kwae (Noi), was about a bridge built by the POWs and the other slave labor on this railroad. This movie did not begin to show the actual suffering of these slaves (POWs).

Any kind of "misconduct" rendered in severe beats – many times till the POW died. Most matches were delivered with large bamboo clubs and / or gun butts and all were very severe. If – or when – the victim fell to the ground, the clubs were used and the feet for the beating and was much more severe. "Misconduct" could be as small as not bowing to the guards fast enough to suit them, being late for the daily counts, singing a patriotic song or not working fast enough or meeting their required daily quota of stone moved or other chores. Some misconduct was immediately punished by death; Such as having a radio or an American flag. Still, there was a radio in some of the camps and several POWs had flags which they kept even though, being caught with it was a death sentence.

These POWs knew the value of an American flag! They knew that it was the symbol of the country that they were fighting for and that they loved.
Trashing and burning this flag is a crime – regardless of what the Supreme Court says – and should be punished in some way. I agree with both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on this issue. They both agree that there should be a law against flag burning and trashing the flag.

These sewer sludge, who pose as humans and who do this should be exported to whatever country that they feel is better than the USA. I doubted that many citizens would miss them. Surely our veterans would not.

Different Kinds of Anime Collectible Figures

You’ve finally found yourself interested in collecting anime statues! Maybe because you enjoy reading manga or watching anime. Or, perhaps you saw some cute, colorful, attractive toys in a store’s window or on a Japanese website. Whatever the reason, one thing is certain: you’re ready to start collecting! It’s a very fun and popular hobby, so you are not alone! Unfortunately, however, many people foreign to Japan find it difficult to find these statues, since they’re primarily produced in Japan. Maybe you, yourself, have attempted to find out more information? For that purpose, I’ve complied a list of popular models of anime figures that exist, and how you can find more information on the newest released statues!

Because these statues are so popular, many manufacturers have designed different types of statues. The most popular type to date, and likely the first created, is known as a scaled PVC statue. They’re named this because they’re produced with a material called Polyvinyl Chloride, shortened as PVC. Typically, the parts of the statues are mass-produced by machines, and are put together by hand. They are designed to be scaled to a specific size, usually directly proportional to an actual size character. Most of these statues are scaled between 1/8th to 1/5th, but not all. I’ve seen statues scaled at 1/1 (full scale!), or more commonly 1/4th. I’ve also seen statues scaled at 1/10th. The detail to these statues are also typically high, depending on the manufacturer. The prices range based on the size and detail, anywhere from $70 up to $300. There are special occasions in which the prices may be higher or lower, however.

The second most popular style of statues is called a cast-off. As implied by the name, these figures have parts that are removable. They’re typically made of the same PVC as regular scaled statues. Although, lately ‘candy-resin’, a material that is known to simulate the feeling of skin better than PVC, has been used. These statues are mostly designed as hentai (perverted) statues, where the clothing can be completely removed to reveal a naked statue. That being said, however, this is not always the case. Sometimes clothing can be removed just to reveal undergarments, or a character in a swimsuit. In both cases, cast-off figures give the owner a slightly varied way to display the character. These statues usually price about the same as the previous ones, depending on scale and detail, but may cost a little more due to extra parts.

A strange, yet popular, style of anime statues that has been becoming increasingly popular is known as a nendoroid. This statue line was created by Good Smile Company, a well-known and reliable figure distributor. These statues are very small in height, usually measuring in at 4 inches. They’re made in a chibi style, with their heads about one-third the size of the entire statue. What’s made them so popular lately is that they have many parts that are interchangeable. They come in sets, including items such as additional faces, body parts, clothing, props, etc. These pieces easily snap on and off to the statue. The parts included typically come from the anime series that the character is featured from, and usually tie into the storyline somehow. Also, they have movable joints, a feature not seen in regular PVC statues. This makes them movable, so that you may place them in any pose you like! These small toys are much cheaper than the previously mentioned statues, and usually cost as little as $25. It’s rare to see a nendoroid go over $60.

Another popular type of statue that is being produced is known as a figma. Also created by a popular and well-known figure distributor known as Max Factory, figmas are similar to nendoroids in that they also have movable joints. However, these statues are much larger. They are similar in height to scaled PVC statues, about 6 inches tall. These toys also come with many parts featured from the statue’s anime, making it easy to portray a scene as if it’s actually happening! Many collectors find this enjoyable, since it adds to the collecting experience. Instead of just owning a character, you also own a scene from a show! Since these statues are a big bigger than nendoroids, they often cost more, but are less expensive than scaled PVC or cast-off statues. They usually cost between $35 and $70.

The last type of popular statues are model kits. These were always my favorite as a kid! The most popular type are Gundam models. These ones are made of plastic, and require assembly. Gundam kits are usually pretty easy to assemble, as the parts simply snap in. However, there are other, more collectible (and expensive) sets that require more labor. These may need you to glue and paint the pieces, which requires accuracy and talent. These sets are typically rare, harder to obtain, or are exclusive. The price may range greatly, depending on the kit. However, it’s easier and cheaper to obtain the cheaper Gundam models, and can range anywhere from $10 to $50.

Choosing the Right Anti-Aging Treatments

When you choose your anti aging treatment there are several aspects to consider; The treatments range from the highly invasive and painful, to the mild and the natural. Considering your budget and what you hope to achieve is very important, as some anti aging treatments do not yield permanent effects, while others are a one-time expenditure.

Face lifts

In this article I will mostly be concentrating on the interior area. However, most of these treatments can be used on other areas of the body too. In the world of surgery, the facelift is very common and very popular. But do not be fooled into thinking that it is simple or cheap; Whatever the sales people would like you to believe, the process is painful, expensive and carries any of the inherent risks on surgery too. Face lifts work via a surgeon cutting around the contours of your skin, starting behind the ears and tightening the skin and muscles underneath. That is of course a very simplified description, but does not give you a picture of the type of procedure you would be going through. However, surgery is not all bad. Although it is expensive it is a one-time expenditure, and it requires no maintenance once you have protected results and you are guaranteed results. Just make sure you choose a reputable surgeon who will not leave you looking like you are in a wind tunnel!

Botox

While Botox is not as invasive as surgery, you should still bear in mind that you are poisoning your skin. Botox works by injection of the toxin into the muscles in your skin, which paralyses them and dramatically reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Botox is definitely an effective option; However it does not last and will require regular injections to maintain the effect. It also has the effect of lowering your expression; As you are limiting your facial muscles' movement, you must bear in mind that you will be less expressive, and can over do the treatment.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels are different to Botox in that they work from the outside; Rather than plumping out the skin they take the top layer of skin off. This reduces the appearance of fine wrinkles, freckles and other irregular pigmentation, and generally removes the wear and tear of life which skin suffers. A chemical peel can yield fabulous results, but as you are in essence removing the top layer of your skin with acid, you should be ready to experience some side effects! Side effects are minimal on the face, so long as you use a reliable supplier, but can be a little more unpredictable on the hands.

The three anti aging treatments I have described above are the most invasive types to help fight the signs of aging. It is important to remember that there are other options available. These include the nightly use of creams, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and even simple changes to your diet and lifestyle can have a huge impact on making your appearance more youthful!

Do You Know How Risky Your Life Is?

Right from the time getting up from the bed till going to sleep in the night, we take many risks in our daily life. All these are self-created in the name of comfort and happiness. In other words, development comes at a heavy cost of life itself.

Building. From the nomadic life to the booking a place on the Moon, man has designed his own residence. However, the degree of inherent risks has gone up manifold. The simple hut was easy to construct and maintain, and less risky to dwell. The high-rise building has several n drawbacks like the shocks from earthquake and fire accident, slower mobility, elevators’ failure, etc. Tunnels, bridges, dams, and transmission towers facilitate in transportation and storage, but prove fatal if their construction suffers from quality and maintenance.

Chemicals have become an integral part of life. Anything from the food to the atomic energy, toothpaste to the hair-dye, lipstick to the memory chip, are produced with the help of chemicals only. They affect our life in various ways as pollution, contamination, gene mutation, and decline in natural immunity.

Machines. Since the invention of the wheel, the role of machines is tremendous in modern life. The home appliances like the fans, heater, toaster, micro-oven, fridge, etc. generate radiation and deplete the good air in the environment. Imagine the losses from the fall of the ceiling fan, the burst of Air conditioners and cell phones. Similarly, the emission from any transport vehicle spoils the environment besides the risk of mishaps from their failures. The Nuclear plants silently kill the society while the bombs bring an instant end to all.

Selfishness. Social aberrations and moral failures have become routine. The selfishness of an individual or a group has manifested into aggression and hatred leading to violence, corruption, bribery, wars, etc. Greed and creed have become self-centered instead of generating and propagating the peace and prosperity. Money and power remain to be the main reasons for most of the crimes. Favoritism and Nepotism dominate everywhere as the material welfare is considered the focus of the modern world.

The man-made risks multiply over time and make the human life more miserable and unpleasant. So, Remember these risks of life and take precautions with prudence to lead a cheerful life.

Strive to live a holistic life by integrating with Nature and through helping others in all possible ways. Because sharing makes your life the meaningful and ideal as well.

Bikers Head For The Beach

While the return of swallows to San Juan Capistrano, California and buzzards to Hinckley, Ohio are the first signs that spring is in the air, anyone who has been to Daytona Beach in early March knows that in this part of the world the arrival of flocks Of bikers is confirmation that winter is over.

It is estimated that half a million motorcycle enthusiasts wend their way to Daytona each March for Bike Week. When you add on the opening weekend, the week is actually a10-day vroom festival, packed with everything from huge, planned, public events to small, private, intimate opportunities to get together informally at local bars and bistros to chow down and have a Beer or two.

It's common to see license plates from 49 states and every Canadian province during Bike Week. When someone comes up with a cheap way to ship a bike from Honolulu, there is not doubt that residents of the aloha state will proudly join the crowds of cruising guys and gals as they zoom up and down Main Street and along the shore on A1A.

The variety of vehicles that gather in Daytona is amazing. But it's not surprising to see the most common names in overwhelming numbers. Harleys are by far the most popular. Most are the off-the-rack version and sport every color in the Harley-Davidson rainbow. Others are stunning works of fine art and engineering, with custom paint jobs, paraphernalia and pipes that were created by artistic geniuses.

Suzukis, Hondas, Indians, Kawasakis and Yamahas are well-represented. Classic, antique and truly unique 2 and 3-wheelers round out the field of participants in what might be the world's largest gathering of its kind. From small starter bikes to bodacious behemoths, the lore and lure of Daytona during Bike Week is irresistible.

Cruising along the highways and byways of Daytona and neighboring towns seems to be the thing to do on a sunny Bike Week day. With no helmet laws on the books, head gear is optional but worn by most. Since it does occasionally rain in the sunshine state, even riders who usually resist covering their heads on clear days don a helmet during inclement weather. When road conditions get rough, a little head protection can go a long way.

Beside cruising and catching some rays on the sand and in the surf, Bike Week visitors have a myriad of activities and events – mild, wild and everything in between – to choose from. One of the favorite choices on everyone's to-do list is strolling along Main Street, stopping to visit the shops and merchant stalls, and checking out the bar scene. For anyone who is looking for that perfect leather jacket or just the right T-shirt, this is the place. Everything from biker bling to some cute little thing that's made of chrome and clips your cell phone to the handlebars is for sale.

On the last Sunday evening of Bike Week, you would think that the town slowly returns to its quieter mode. Think again. The departure of motorcycles heralds another annual occurrence – spring break! And, so, the college crowd starts showing up all over and the party rocks on.

Do Not Do This at Home

Well ladies and gents, I have once again been humbled. This happened last Saturday. Please don’t try this at home. My Father-in-law called and wanted to take our 5 year old to the carnival. I was going to take him, but my Father-in-law wanted my wife to go as well.

So, my wife says, “Do you want to go?” She says,”I know you have stuff to do with the business, so it does not matter if you want to go or not.” So, I see this as an opportunity to get things done with the home business. Always something to do with that and with my wife’s blessing. Wow. I must have been a good boy! So I walk my wife and son out and as they start to pull out of the driveway, I head back inside. The door is locked!!!!!! Here I am, barefoot, in t-shirt and shorts,no keys (obviously or there would be no story would there?), no cell phone — nothing.

So I run BAREFOOT down our GRAVEL driveway and out into our road. I run about a block trying to wave my wife down and *poof* she is gone. After the adrenaline rush, I realize my feet hurt really bad. It took me 2 seconds to fly down the driveway, but it took 2-3 minutes to gingerly walk back up. Great. Now I have to figure out how to break into my house. Find a phone and call? No, I am not spoiling my family’s fun because I somehow locked myself out. Also, I am man. Man fix things good. So I sit down on my porch and look around for things I can use to pop the lock.

The dead bolt is not locked, should be no problem. I know I need something flexible and will not break easily. Credit or insurance cards work well, but I don’t have my wallet. Yes, I have done this before and it was legal!!!

I search my car and find some plastic casing. I fold it and then go at the lock on the front door. Nope. Well…I will try the back door. I walk to the backyard and past my 130 pound St. Bernard who thinks I want to play. He snatches the plastic out of my hand as I am closing the gate and takes off with it in the yard.

After Greco-Roman wrestling the dog to the ground and getting the plastic out of his mouth, it is all chewed up and there is no way I can use it to try it on the back door. So I have to walk back down the driveway, around the house through the yard and to my mini-barn to find another break-in device. I also have a workshop, but tools will not work. It has to be flexible and strong. So I find a couple of old Cd’s and a long piece of plastic that came out of I don’t know where.

As I was in the mini barn I had a chance to read some old things that I had written in the past, look at old pictures, etc. Kind of sweet huh? Yeah if it wasn’t 92 degrees and I wasn’t locked out of my house! I try all of the things that I had found and not one would work.

I was getting a little frustrated. I almost got to the point where I thought I should just sit down and wait for my wife to get home. Whatever! I am man remember? So I go around to the back door again and cannot get in!

Our 2 cats and black pug are all at the back door looking at the weirdo having convulsions trying to break-in. So, I let them know that all they are good for is to eat and poop. After I finally break all of things I was using, I head back down and my big doggy bites my shorts and pulls them down. Good thing we live in the country, full moon was out early.

Now, my hands and feet hurt and I am at wits end. So, I have an idea. I walk back around my house to the tool shed and remember some old yard darts that we had. I take the plastic piece off of one and head back to the house. As I try to hop up on the side of my porch, I step on something and it goes into my foot. That is not the worst part.

I lose my balance and fall flat on my back into the gravel driveway. It had been along time since I had had the wind knocked out of me. So, after I caught my breath and took the huge splinter out of my foot, I laid there and just wanted to take a nap. But, I am no quitter and I got up, go to the front door, slide the yard dart in and the door pops open. LOL!

I was outside for 1 hour and 45 minutes trying to get in. There are instances when you are humbled and this was definitely one for me. I wanted to get things done with the business, but I really should have went to the carnival. It is very important to take your home business seriously, but there are times when you should make it secondary. I found that out the hard way.

You Should Use WordPress As a Membership Site

If you've ever considered using a membership site of your own and if you're wondering which platform you should use for your membership site, you should use a membership plugin such as WishList Member which installs on top of WordPress. The reason for this is because WordPress is always updated and approved and has all the features you need to run a membership site while also being very intuitive and easy to use. Use WordPress as a base for your membership site and then install a WordPress plugin such as WishList Member to act as the membership site gatekeeper because WordPress allows to easily add lots of content. It has lots of quick membership plugins and the code has been tested.

In WordPress, to add a piece of content is very easy. Go to Posts, Add New, fill in the form and boom! You have a new post or page in your membership site. WordPress is also a full blown content management system which means you can grant access to other people for them to add content to your blog. It's very easy to even import lots of content in bulk using WP Import so it's in everyone's best interest for you to use WordPress as a base and then install a membership plugin to handle the payments.

There are lots of quick membership plugins and membership add-ons for WordPress and they will support pretty much any payment processor that is in use including PayPal, One Shopping Carts, Click Bank and many others. All someone has to do is pay you. And even if someone does not have a 1ShoppingCart account or a PayPal account, for example, all these processors handle normal credit cards. So if someone has a credit card, they can fill in that form and pay whatever price you ask to get access to whatever your site is.

And in addition, most WordPress membership software has this idea of ‚Äč‚Äčlevels which means that you can add bonus modules or digital courses or just sell multiple products from the same WordPress website very quickly and easily. And unlike a lot non-WordPress based membership plugins, the code for WordPress has been tested. If something does not work, does not make sense, it is fixed and repaired quite quickly and it is improved over time. Even if you use a simple membership plugin that only handles a few features, most of what you want to do is built into WordPress, not into your membership plugin. The membership plugin mostly handles the payments and WordPress does the cool stuff.

Use WordPress as your membership site, install a membership plugin on top of WordPress to handle the payments and set it up right now before someone else beat you to it.

How and Why Skin Ages

In order to slow down and possibly reverse skin aging, we first need to understand how the skin changes with aging and the factors that accelerate those changes. Two primary aging mechanisms exist – intrinsic or biological aging and extrinsic or external aging. Intrinsic aging is inevitable as it is part of the natural aging process. Our skin cells, just like our bodies, begin to slow down. Extrinsic aging is the cumulative effect of many assaults on the skin throughout one’s lifetime that cause it to age prematurely.

INTRINSIC AGING

Although these changes are inevitable, there are measures that can be taken to slow the process and possibly replace what nature has taken away.

The outer most layer of the skin, the epidermis, begins to thin. It receives less nutrients and the removal of waste products, including free radicals declines.

Collagen, the framework which supports the skin, production slows leading to lines, wrinkles and sagging.

Elastin, the substance that allows our skin to “snap back” into place no longer has the spring it once did.

Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and turnover of new skin cells decreases. Instead of being renewed every 2 or 3 weeks, aging skin takes 4 to 6 weeks to be replaced.

Decreased oil production causes skin to become dry.

Loss of underlying fat leads to hollow cheeks and eye sockets.

Bone loss causes the bones to shrink away from the skin and sagging develops.

EXTRINSIC AGING

Unlike intrinsic aging, extrinsic aging is much more manageable. There are numerous outside factors that accelerate the visible signs of aging. Avoiding them is the most cost effective anti-aging strategy. Unfortunately, for many of us, they have already done their damage.

Sun

Photoaging is that which is produced by exposure to the sun’s rays. Exposure to ultra-violet (UV) rays results in the formation of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms or molecules that are extremely reactive. In order to stabilize themselves, they attach to other “normal” molecules causing modification or damage to them. Aging is the cumulative effect of many free radical attacks over time. With repeated exposure to the sun, the skin loses its ability to repair itself and the damage accumulates. The collagen breaks down and its synthesis is impaired. The elastin weakens. The skin becomes loose, wrinkled and leathery. Freckles, age spots, spider veins, blotchiness and skin cancer have all been traced to sun exposure.

Repetitive Facial Expressions

Think about the number of facial expressions you have every day. Research studies have shown that individuals make approximately 15,000 facial movements per day. Each time the face moves for an expression, the skin is stretched. When young, the skin snaps back into place, similar to a rubber band. As we age, it does not snap back and permanent expression lines form. These are seen as frown lines, smile lines, crow’s feet and lip lines.

Gravity

The force of gravity constantly pulls on the body causing changes that become more pronounced as we age. It causes the eyelid to fall and jowls to form. The tip of the nose begins to droop, the ears elongate and the upper lip begins to disappear while the lower lip becomes more pronounced.

Sleeping Positions

Sleeping with your face pressed against a pillow night after night can cause “sleep lines” that, over the years, become etched in the skin and become wrinkles. Dermatologists are actually able to determine the side of the face you sleep on by looking at your wrinkles.

Smoking

Exposure to cigarette smoke leads to the formation of free radicals and weakens the skin’s collagen and elastin fibers. It also constricts the blood vessels, depriving the skin of the oxygen and nutrients it needs to remain healthy.

Chlorine

The chlorine in water does more than make it safe to drink – it ruins your skin. Chlorine is an oxidative agent designed to attack living organic matter which is why it kills bacteria in water supplies. Unfortunately, the skin is also living organic matter which is vulnerable to the effects of chlorine.

Avoiding as many of the above external stressors as possible will make your skin look younger, longer.
