Visit to the Commercial Capital of India

Our dream to visit the commercial capital of India was realised on Oct 2015. Landed at Mumbai early morning. The first appearance of the city looked like the mixture of both Delhi and Chennai. Our cab driver so obsessed with ‘bollywood stars’ never missed an opportunity to show us the celebrity apartments. He started with Amitab’s new house ‘Jalsa’ and ended with King of Bollywood Sharukh Khan’s ‘Mannat’. We visited the beautiful Bandra beach which is just opposite to Sharukh’s apartment. Mumbai’s Sea-link is very amazing. We were excited to see such a lengthy bridge in the middle of the sea connecting Western Mumbai to South Mumbai. It is really an engineering marvel. I am surprised to know that the sea-link reduces travel time between Bandra and Worli during peak hours from 60-90 minutes to 20-30 minutes.

Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminal transported us to the colonial era and also reminded us the painful events of 26/11. The passengers were running for cover when terrorists started firing, is still lingering in my memory. Visited Siddhi Vinayak temple, city’s oldest and richest temple. This temple being visited frequently by politicians and bollywood stars.

The Gate way of India, is historic structure facing the sea, is the reminder of British Raj. It has become Mumbai’s favourite tourist destination. Plenty of photographers are roaming around here. The Elephanta Caves are located very close to the Gateway of India, and tourists can travel on motor boats to reach the Elephanta Islands. Statues of the Maratha leader Shivaji and Swami Vivekananda are installed at the entrance of the Elephanta Caves. The view of Taj hotel and Gate of India from the boat while travelling to Elephanta caves was stunning.

The Taj Mahal Hotel is India’s most prestigious and luxurious hotel and is situated close to the Gateway of India. Taj hotel is photographers delight. Tourists never move away from here without taking few snaps having Taj on the background. Large crowds of people come to this place to stride along the beautiful walkway and to view the stunning sight of the setting sun at dusk. The scenic beauty of the perfectly lined palm trees offers its visitors an enthralling experience.

Marine Drive is also referred to as ‘Queen’s necklace’, because the street lights make the road look like a string of pearls and create an illusion of a necklace, when viewed at night from any elevated point along the pathway of the drive. In the evening lot of people come here and enjoy the see breeze and also for relaxation.

We visited Chowpatty Beach, which is famous for its bazaars and meals. Hundreds of salesmen walk across the beach to sell different varieties of items. Fast food and snacks such as Bhel Puri, Paav Bhaji, etc are available here. People just come here in the evening and spend their time by roaming in the beach and enjoy street food.

When’s the Best Time to Go Out on Picnics?

During times of stress and worry families tend to focus on their financial troubles rather than spending quality time together. Picnics are a great inexpensive way to have a time out and really appreciate the great things life has to offer.

It has been proven that we are often at our most receptive and positive when we are relaxed and surrounded by the people we love. The summer months offer an excellent opportunity to spend quality time with your family and get outside for a delicious picnic. But even when the weather’s a little cloudy finding the perfect spot for your picnic will ensure memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Being spontaneous is always the best way to prepare for your picnic. But a little planning is always a good thing.

First, think about a good location that may offer shelter if the weather does take a turn for the worst. During sunny days try to take something that will provide shade for the picnickers. Try not to choose a spot that is too far away; remember this is supposed to be a relaxing experience for all involved.

Make a list of snacks that are cheap and easy to prepare. Finger or fork food is the way forward and is rarely eaten hot at picnics. Rice, salad, pasta and quiches are a sure success; always try to check if any of your guests have food allergies. Most foods need to be eaten within an hour of being taken out of the fridge so try not to take too much food. Try to take something to cover the food to keep it protected from the heat and any insects like an insulated picnic bag. It’s always recommended to throw items that have not been kept cool on your return home.

Follow this by writing down the articles you may need to take with you. Be sure to take clothes and napkins, coolers, plastic cups and plates as well as forks and spoons. Take folding chairs for people who are unable to get up from the ground easily and umbrellas for shade and shelter. Take a large plastic bag where you can put your garbage and make sure that you dispose of it responsibly. Make sure you bring sun block and insect repellent as well as an antibacterial gel for your hands and remember your camera!

Get the kids involved and think about what you might need to make your picnic more enjoyable. Ask your kids would they would like to do and however crazy it might be give it a go. Take some games with you that both children and adults can play, adventure trails and team games are always fun.

Remember to dress appropriately to ensure that you and your fellow picnickers are able to relax and join in the fun. Once your all set up and ready for your picnic, make sure you haven’t forgotten once last thing- relax.

DMX Lighting Basics Explained

It is often a difficult thing to try to understand professional lighting systems. The key to using the full extent of any lighting system is in understanding DMX Lighting Basics.

The first of the basics that must be understood is in the term "DMX". It is short for digital multiplex, and the full term is actually "DMX 512". The 512 stands for how many channels, or control options, are in a universe. A universe is the total number of channels in a DMX 512 configuration.

A lighting programmer would use a DMX 512 setup to control lights, dimmers, fog machines, or anything that is connected into this data stream. It is sometimes easier to think of it as a way to communicate with hardware, much like the way a computer communicates with peripherals such as monitors and mice.

The second of the DMX basics is channel assignment. As previously mentioned, there are 512 control channels in a universe. Each fixture, or lighting device, has a different amount of channels that can be controlled. For example, a Martin Mac 250 can have over fifteen control channels! These channels control the movement, rotations, color, gobo, and even speed of any device that is hooked up to a DMX 512 universe. The channels must be assigned correctly for the fixture to be controlled by the mixer, so it is critical that the correct manuals be consulted before setup.

The final point of the basics is cable assignment. Before you can run anything on a DMX 512 system, you have to make sure that you are running the right types of cable to the right fixtures. The most common way to run cabling is in a sequence of output to input. This way, if there is a problem in the data link, the programmer will be able to find it quickly.

The cable that is used is extremely important. For some systems, there is not enough output power coming from the mixer. DMX cable must be used in this case to insure that data transfer is complete. Often times, a programmer will use XLR cables instead to save money. While this usually alright, consult the manual on your fixture or system to be sure.

The use of these three basic concepts will help produce a favorable lighting result. There are many exciting aspects to the DMX 512 system, and it is sure to impress even the novice user.

Chicago Skyline Prints

The City of Chicago has possibly the most beautiful skyline in the world. Although it as not as massive as those of Manhattan and Hong Kong is has unsurpassed proportions and elegance.

When you look at the skylines of cities around the world it is clear that each has its own distinct style that reflect the community and industry. For example in New Your City there is Manhattan Island, certainly possessing one of the greatest scylines in the world. When you study it you become aware of how the geography very much affected the shape and contour of Manhattan's Skyline. You have to areas of focus with Manhattan Island which are the downtown (the central business district) and midtown (on Central Park with the Metropolitan Museum of Art).

The Chicago skyline is interesting in that it is not on an island and yet at its core (the loop) it is as dense as that of Manhattan Island or any other great city. This is a unique feature to Chicago because there is not the confinement of space that the restrictive borders of an island make. Downtown Chicago is able to spread itself out in all directions with no barriers whatever (of course not taking into account Lake Michigan). Two elements that give the loop its density are the Chicago River and the "El" train that circles around the downtown and so called "loop" (although the origins of the term loop stem from the way in which the Chicago River loops around the central Business district. This became a natural barrier or district in which the city planned and built the downtown. However, the river is thin and no real barrier like that of Manhattan Island for every street on the grid of Chicago's site plan cross over the river letting traffic flow as though it were not even there. It should be noted that Chicago has more drawbridges than any other city in the world.

With the constant of the towers that make Chicago the great city that it artists have flocked to her shoreline to make wonderful drawings and paintings. The most popular views of the skyline are from Lake Michigan looking west. Also views from Lake Shore Drive going from either the north or the south are spectacular. Artists have made prints of their work to sell tourists passing through making Chicago a center for Art. Complimenting the artist prints are prints by photographers of the skyline in various angles, most popular from the air. If you want to get a full appreciation of the art and prints of Chicago you can do an Internet search and see all that there is offered.

Great Ideas For Urban Apartment Interior Design

Interior decorating has often been a tricky subject for renters. How much effort does one want to go through to improve a space that one doesn’t actually own? Luckily, most interior decorating concerns non-structural work that focuses on color and furniture layout. Still, renter decorators tend to seek quicker, cheaper solutions to their decoration challenges than their home owner counterparts. In big cities where rents are high and space is at a premium, this difference is even more pronounced. In fact, the hipper the neighborhood, the more creative you have to be.

Get it off the ground:

It’s an unforgiving rule of nature: the more fashionable the neighborhood, the higher the rent and the smaller the space. If you were to put the furniture from a one bedroom apartment from Des Moines Iowa into a one bedroom apartment in the West Village, chances are you wouldn’t be able to take a step without bumping into something. New city arrivals quickly learn to mount bookshelves on the wall whenever possible and minimize the amount of four legged furniture items that take up precious floor space. Urban furniture stores address this with décor designed for this purpose. Even if you can’t afford a swanky thin, modular bookshelf, they are fairly easy to build on your own. One friend of mine faced with budget and space restrictions came up with the imaginative idea of building bookshelves that hang on a series of 30 degree angles; creating a zig zag effect that made me wonder why it had never been done before, as they say “Necessity is the mother of invention”. Even beds can be wall mounted, designed to swing down from the wall when needed. The classic Murphy bed is a good example.

Using Mirrors:

Many small restaurants employ the technique of using mirrors to make their space appear larger. Mirrors reflect light and, as a result, double the perception of depth in a given room. Mirrors are available in a broad variety of shapes, sizes and frames. Pick out a mirror design that works best for your given wall space. You can even get a pair of mirrors and mount them opposite one another for compounded reflections that create an even larger perception of space. Remember, in the world of interior design, perception is nine tenths reality.

Two Spaces In One:

A great tip for addressing the storage problems of a small space is to elevate the bed. Once elevated, the space beneath the bed can become an ideal storage area. The higher your ceiling, the more elevation (and thus storage) you can get away with. Another great small apartment item is the travel trunk. Get a large trunk, put it by a window, throw a few pillows on it, and presto, you’ve got window seating area with a little touch of adventure.

Fact vs Fiction – A Salt Water Pool Review

If you have been considering purchasing a new salt water pool or if you want to convert your existing chlorine system with a salt system, then you should consider a few common misconceptions. With the sudden popularity of these pools there are a lot of myths that have been propagated by owners and sellers alike.

No more worrying about pH levels.

Keeping salt pools clear of germs and algae requires a balance of germ killing chemicals. Chlorine is the primary disinfectant used in a pool. Many homeowners though find that they are needing to add more chlorine to effectively kill germs. This can be attributed to high pH levels. A balanced pH and alkaline level is essential to maintaining optimum chlorination. Not only that but pH levels will also affect the comfort of swimmers. Levels about 7.8 could lead to eye and skin irritation. Most pool owners convert to salt water pools because they are told they are maintenance free. This is not true. Balanced water is essential and this requires frequent testing.

You can taste both the salt and the chlorine.

A properly maintained salt water pool has a salinity level around 10 per cent of water from the ocean. Most salt water pool owners can attest to the fact that the water in a salt water pool is very similar to that of water that has been softened. Soft water has a better feel and is less harsh on skin and clothing. Salt water pools with the proper level of salt will not have a noticeable difference in taste.

Salt water pools don’t require maintenance.

New owners of salt water pools quickly discover that these systems do require maintenance. While you do not have to continually add chlorine as with standard pools you do need to maintain the chlorine generation cells. Most salt water pools use titanium plates that are electronically charged to turn salt water into chlorine. Calcium builds up in the ‘cells’ and must be cleaned. Failure to do so will result in reduced chlorine generation and your pool will no longer be able to fight off germs and algae. Maintaining proper salt levels will also shorten the life of the chlorine generation cells. So there are times when either water or additional salt will need to be added to the pool.

Salt water pools are cheaper then regular pools.

There is a lot of confusion on this point. So let’s clear things up. The cost savings on one of these pools is based primarily on how long you own the pool and how well it is maintained. This is because salt pools are initially more expensive to install. Over a short period of time a standard chlorine system is cheaper. However continued operation costs over the next couple of years will begin to surpass that of a salt water pool. Chlorinated pools are constantly losing chlorine. Sunlight, splash outs and inclement weather are usually reducing the amount of chlorine requiring the use of chlorine pucks and pool shock systems. These can be expensive and dangerous to handle. There are other costs associated with salt water pools. Replacing pave stones, pump parts and chlorine generators can be expensive. In the end salt water pools aren’t very cheap at all.

7 Dog Winter Dangers – Remember These For a Safe, Healthy Dog

Winter sneaks in on the tails of fall with the weather growing colder and harsher as the days pass by. The cold days and long nights present some of the same dangers we have seen before and some new one, keep these in mind this season so that your faithful companions is healthy and safe.

Snow – Many dogs love snow, I know mine does. Even if a dog does not, he may still have to go outside to tie himself. Depending on the size some snow can be difficult to get through so if your dog goes out unattended, keep an eye out to make sure he does not get stuck or strike something in the snow, not to mention how sharp a piece of ice can Be. When the snow is too deep for our sheltie, we often shovel out a path or two for him to navigate when going to potty. When the pooch comes in, check between his toes to make sure there is no ice stuck in there.

Cold – There used to be a commercial that would say "Cold Hurts"; I think it was for a heating fund. Well, do not think that the cold just hurts people, it can hurt dogs too. Do not leave your pooch out too long, like a child they do not always know when to come in. If your dog lives outside, make sure he has a warm refuge from the cold, that is draft free, also do not forget to make sure her water is not frozen. And remember, if it gets too cold bringing them inside and out of the cold.

Antifreeze – Antifreeze is a danger any time of the year and it seems every part of the year has it own inherent reason this brew is potentially found on the ground. Dogs love this sweet tasting stuff and it takes a very small amount to kill them. If you see your pet drinking antifreeze, get them to a vet as soon as possible. If your dog appears toxicated, it may have ingested antifreeze and needs immediate attention. Do not wait! Although your dog may appear to get better, he's not. Be suspicious of any vomiting and increased thirst as these are possibly symptoms of poisoning. Make sure there is no antifreeze within reach, old or new. Make sure you dispose of discarded antifreeze properly. Finally make sure to take care of any leaks.

Ice Treats – Be careful when your out and about on cold days. Road treatments used to break up and melt ice can be toxic to dogs. If they are used in your area, it is a good idea to wipe her feet off when you return home.

Christmas Foods – There are a variety of foods that are not good for your dog. Chocolate, almonds and peaches are among the list and we often have foods in the house during the holiday season we may not have around during the rest of the year. If you do not know something is okay do not give it to your dog.

Christmas Decorations – If your dog is a chewer, make sure any lighting wires are out of reach, also be careful about tree ornaments.

Fire and Heaters – This is pretty obvious but watch your dogs skin for signs of being too dry, like excessive itching and consult your vet about possible treatments.

Keep your pet safe this winter and always consult a veterinary professional with questions or concerns.

Your 4-Step Plan for Prospects Who Are not Calling You Back

We've all got a pipeline full of them: prospects who sounded good in the beginning, but now there's no news from them. Are they still interested? Have they found another solution? Was it something we said or is the price too high or have they changed their mind? Who knows – they simply are not responsive. So what should you do?

The first thing you should do is relax. Take a deep breath. Just because they have not gotten back to you does not necessarily mean that they are not interested, nor does it mean they are not going to still be a deal. Some will not, but some still will. It's frustrating, I know, but there are a couple of things to understand and to do so let's take it from the top:

# 1: The first thing you need to remember is that prospects buy according to their schedule – not yours. As a sales rep, I know you want, no, you need the deal today. We all do. But your prospect usually is not under the same urgency as you are to get the deal done. There are many other initiatives, activities, people, processes, etc, they are dealing with and your product or service is just one of many things they have on their plate. So again, do not take it personally, just relax and plan your next move.

# 2: Your next move should be the one you both agreed on during your last conversation. You did make a firm appointment for your next conversation, did not you? This is rule of engagement number one, so if you're not in the habit of doing that, please begin today. If you did make a firm appointment and they missed it, then send a gentle email acknowledging that they must be as busy as you are and you understand. Do not be accusatory, do not assign blame and do not under any circumstance sound hurt or make them feel guilty. Instead, be professional and use something like the following:

Subject Line: Our meeting

So sorry we missed each other today – I know how time can get by us. When you have a moment, please shoot me an email back suggesting some better times later this week or next that would be better for us to connect.

You can either respond to this email or leave me a quick message here (your number).

Looking forward to hearing back,

Joe Smith

# 3: Talk to secretaries, assistants or others in their department. If possible, always form a relationship with anyone else answering the phone or working in the same department as your prospect. When you next attempt to reach them, ask that other person what your prospect's schedule is like and what's going on with the department or company. Using this method, I've found out that some of my prospects were traveling for two weeks, or they were at company conferences, or on vacation, etc. Once I learn this, I reference this in my next email attempts to reach them.

The best rule of thumb is to acknowledge what your prospect is going through and to never pressure them. Always let them set the best time / days to reconnect. If you are persistent and respectful in this way, real prospects will always get back with you and let you know.

# 4: If you have been patient in the ways described above and a month or so has gone by and you've still not heard from your prospect, then it is time to use the "Should I Stay or Should I Go" email I 'Ve written about before. Remember, the power of this email is that you are giving your prospect a way out with option number two and this will almost always get them to respond to you. It may not be the response you want, but believe me, if your prospect has found another solution or will not be a deal, it's always better to know it and move on. Here's the email for you in case you missed it:

Subject line is: "Should I stay or should I go?"

"_________ I have not heard back from you and that tells me one of three things:

1) You've already chosen another company for this and if that's the case please let me know so can I stop bothering you,

2) You're still interested but have not had the time to get back to me yet.

3) You've fallen and can not get up and in that case please let me know and I'll call 911 for you …

Please let me know which one it is because I'm starting to worry … Thanks in advance, and I look forward to hearing back from you. "

Following these four steps should restore you to sanity in regards to your sales cycle. Remember, closing a sale is a process and you must let it unfold in the way that best suits the buying habits of your prospect or client. Do not be desperate, do not pressure, and do not let your prospect see you sweat. Instead, use the four steps above to deal with the process professionally and confidently. That attitude will come across to your buyer and they will respond accordingly.

How to Get Rich

When I was about 13 years old I ordered something very memorable from an ad in the back of a magazine. It was a book called "How To Get Rich". As I waited for my order to arrive I dreamed about all that I would do once I got wealthy. Things like, not go to school, play video games all day etc. Finally the day came that my book arrived and I quickly devoured the contents as I expected to learn the great secrets to getting my materialistic dreams. It was not a very thick book so it did not take me long to read it cover to cover. Here is what the book said, "The way to get rich is to write a book on how to get rich." No kidding. Imagine my disappointment after hoping to hear some great secrets that would lead me to untold wealth. Of course, the writer of the book did come through on their promise to reveal how to get rich, it's just that the answer was something less than magical and even possibly unethical.

Today, 33 years later, the same game is being played in bookstores and over the internet. Numerous gurus and charlatans are promoting their get rich quick schemes by pointing to themselves as examples of how to get rich. How did they get rich? By telling others how to get rich. I will not mention any names but these are prominent members of the Law of Attraction community. Do not get me wrong, I am a big believer in the Law of Attraction, I just find it ironic that the way these people make most of their money is in telling other people how to make allot of money.

All this get rich stuff gets me thinking, what is wealth? I believe it is a perception. An American Indian living 500 years ago may have considered themselves wealthy if they had plentiful hunting grounds, a loving mate and a thriving tribe. Wealth seems to be relative to our perspective. Perhaps the true way to get wealthy is to have a wealth perspective. I would say you are probably extremely wealthy in material things compared to an American Indian 500 years ago, but I'll bet that American Indian felt more wealthy than you do. Why? Once again, perspective.

Warren Buffet (one of the richest men in the world) was once asked what it was like to be so wealthy. His reply was that his life was not that much different from most people. Besides having some extra conveniences like a private jet and some nice places to live it stated that it ate the same food most people eat, slept in a bed like most people, wore the same clothes most people wear etc. You get the picture. The fact that Mr. Buffet's life is not so dissimilar from the average person becomes obvious when we think about it. Most of our lives are pretty much the same when it comes to our human habits (eating, sleeping, excreting). Granted there are people living under bridges and others starving in war torn areas of Africa, but most people live very similar lives in the human habit sense. Perhaps the only real difference between a rich person and an average person is that after a rich person has gathered enough material wealth they allow themselves to feel wealthy.

So, I am going to tell you how to get rich. Allow yourself to feel wealthy. Enjoy and appreciate the things that you have. Be in the NOW of what you like and feel how much you like or love something while you are experiencing it. How many of us state that we love something but how often are we feeling that love while we are experiencing it? Next time you feel a cool breeze or smell a flower or anything that brings you pleasure, think about and feel the feelings of how much you love that thing. Then you will truly be a rich person.

Opening Day Of Fishing Season

Well, here it is the end of April.

Like the uncontrollable urges that the groundhog, the wild turkey, and Brad Pitt, have come over them at this time of year, it is a time when an internal alarm goes off in the fisherman.

Unlike those sex crazed species, the anglers yearly sense of duty is aroused by …..

…. Opening day, trout season.

A time when the trees bloom, lakes thaw, and man struggles with that eternal question:

Should I mow the nine inch weeds or go fishing?

To me, that is like asking would I like a hot fudge sundae or a liver transplant?

Of course, as I drive out to one of our local fishing waters here in Oregon, and pass many of the guys on the liver transplant recipient list, I am thankful that not every male is of the same mindset as myself.

Otherwise, what was ice and snow a month ago, would be fiberglass and aluminum now. In other words, you could walk across a lake from boat to boat without ever touching water.

To say opening day of trout season is usually crowded, is the ultimate understatment. As much a social event as it is a fishing outing. If you are looking for solace and a little quiet time, you are probably better off telling your wife you are going fishing and then slipping into the basement for a nap.

At least you still will not have to mow the weeds.

But with waters that have usually been closed or limited to ice fishing for six months, the chance of catching a really nice trout are pretty good. No pressure and a scarce food supply over the winter months, make the opening day ambush a day when the odds are stacked in the fishermen's favor.

This year, in Oregon we have been blessed with an abundant snow year which has found many of the high mountain lakes sitting with over 300 percent of the usual snowpack. Fishing boats may have to be replaced by snowmobiles, and anglers may look more like Eskimos than fishermen.

In places where the ice has melted, the water is ccc – c cold. Under 40 degrees. These are conditions that usually make for slow and sluggish trout and fish that are spread out looking for warm pockets of water and fish parkas. Nonetheless, there will be opening day success and Jack Daniels stock may rise considering over the weekend.

So, if you are heading out for the opening day "fishfest" — good luck and enjoy the festivals.

And if you are staying home to mow the weeds, well, I hope you do not wind up getting a fisherman's liver …..

How Long Should You Really Leave Your Air Mattress Inflated?

The question of the allowable time to keep an air mattress fully inflated seems to get asked time and time again. It’s a common question, but a good one. When you purchase that new air bed, the manufacturer’s setup instructions don’t necessarily go into much detail about inflation limitations, so people are usually left to fend for themselves. This article will provide you some guidance, and at a minimum, help you make an informed decision about what’s best for your situation.

The Answer Is…

The abbreviated answer is: there is no set time limit associated with leaving your inflatable mattress full of air. You won’t find any suggested limits or best practices in the literature provided by the air bed vendors. Therefore, you need to ask yourself a few questions to help get to a decision, since there are several factors that can influence your decision. The first thing to ask yourself is how do you intend to use the blow up bed?

What Are The Intended Uses Of Your Inflatable Bed?

Is this going to be a permanent bed or is this a guest bed situation? If this is going to be a bed that gets everyday use, you will probably want to leave it inflated as long as possible, right? The real issue in this situation is prolonged exposure to things that may inadvertently puncture the mattress. The longer it is inflated, the more chances there are for it to get a hole. This is especially true if you have animals or children that will be around the bed frequently. Come on, you know what I’m talking about! If the air mattress will be in an area where there are less opportunities for puncturing, you can leave it inflated for as long as you would like. Of course, all air beds lose air over time (some faster than others), so it won’t be “fully inflated” for the entire time anyway.

What Is The Impact Of Continually Inflating And Deflating Your Portable Air Bed?

To make a case for leaving the inflatable bed up for longer periods of time, you should consider the wear and tear that can occur on the mattress. As you fill up the air bed, the seams that hold it together stretch. The more you inflate and deflate the mattress over time, the more stress there is on the seams of the air mattress. This could eventually cause failure of the seams, and loss of the ability to hold air for any significant amount of time. This goes to the root of air mattress care and maintenance.

Are There Any Cost Implications? Depending on your choice, there could be. If you stress the seams of the airbed too much, they may fail, causing you to expend more money for another purchase. Additionally, if you do not have a built-in air pump for your mattress and it relies on those huge D-size batteries, you will have to make a budget for batteries if you choose to continually inflate and deflate your air bed.

In Summary…

Taking everything into consideration, there is no reason why you can’t leave your airbed inflated for weeks at a time, unless it is in an area where it can become easily damaged. The air beds do not have any requirements to be deflated after a certain period of usage, so that is not a factor. Lastly, they all lose a little air over time anyway, so keeping air in it, as long as it is not over-inflated, should not be an issue.

Meeting in the Space of the Heart

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” Rumi

I’ve read lots of articles recently about being with family in such a highly charged political environment. As healing arts professionals, most of us have worked long and hard on developing our skills in listening, setting boundaries and standing in what’s true for us without bashing the “other.” Nonetheless, it can be challenging, the best thing I’ve read so far on this topic was an article in the WSJ.

I want to take a minute and look at this topic of being with our friends and family from the perspective of the Acceptance and Integration Training (AAIT) principles. Leaning into these principles can open us to new possibilities and deeper understanding in the face of varied points of view.

You know how it is when we get pulled off of core values and then move through the world in a cloud of muck? Yeah. That’s not cool. And, it happens. It seems to be happening a lot these days. Principles can help us realign and meet others in the space of the heart.

The real self is not an object or the sum of a narrative. The real self is a BE-ing. Aim to align with your real self rather than the false conditioned, limited self. Aim to connect with the real self of others, beyond the layers of disagreement or agreement, beyond the layers of fear and anger. Many of you may have heard me say, “If you go deep enough in the stormiest of seas, there is a point of stillness. In the same way, if you go deep enough in the human heart, there is stillness, equipoise.” I do this by leaning into my AAIT practice coupled with meditation and loving kindness.

Self acceptance is a means and measure of well-being. Remember, acceptance is not about liking or approval. Start where you are. Even if where you are is feeling resistant to acceptance. Accept that. Identify what you are experiencing. Focused attention on acceptance is like “spiritual judo” as Zivorad would say. You can even use the Formula for the Elimination of Self Sabotage to help. Place two fingers to your chest, silently repeat “Even though I think / feel _______” I love and accept myself, my body and personality and the fact that I think / feel _______.” Follow that up by placing your index finger underneath your left eyebrow close to the bridge of the nose and simply experience that thing you are working to accept while taking a couple of easy breaths. Lean into acceptance with the understanding that acceptance does not mean approval. If you follow me on Facebook, you know I’m quite politically vocal. Nor does acceptance mean acquiescence.

Taking responsibility for and tending to our inner state is the source of our freedom. Start where you are. Is your state where you want it to be? If you are not in a good state of being, it is unlikely that you will be able to tap into connecting with your real self or with the real self of anyone else. The most empowering decision you can make is to take responsibility for and tend to your state. How will you tend to your state? What will help you come back home, to your real self when you have gone off course? Sometimes a little time out to tend to ourselves is just what we need.

Resolving reactivity reveals higher states of consciousness. Have you noticed this? Have you noticed how when you are not triggered, it’s easy for you to land in some higher perspective? There are many ways of resolving reactivity, exercise, meditation, deep listening, deep breathing — by far, the most effective and long- lasting means of stepping into higher states of consciousness through the doors of reactivity are the integration tools I’ve learned from Slavinski and his students. We do not need to stay activated to be activists. It’s likely that you can predict just who will “push your buttons” over the Thanksgiving dinner table. Bring them to mind and do a little pre-work. Zivorad calls this clearing the future.

Integration of two opposing states can alleviate suffering. For those of you who know reliable integration methods, you know this. This is a no brainer. If you don’t know how to integrate two opposing states, it may be useful to simply bring the opposing state to mind. This will likely not result in a full integration but can give you some relief. For instance, if you find yourself feeling impatient or annoyed with someone, as unlikely as that might be, focus on the impatience take a couple of easy breaths just letting yourself feel it. Then think of some situation when you felt patient or saw someone be really patient, just notice what you experience as you think about that situation. Rock your awareness back and forth between those two states a few times and notice what happens for you.

Finally, many of my clients (mostly helping professionals) in the last couple of weeks have described feeling like the pain of others is sticking to them more than it normally would. Click on this link and scroll down to the bottom of the page to find a little meditation I’ve offered several of them to help re-center. Perhaps this will be useful to you.

Why a Dental Fixed Bridge Is the Answer to Your Missing Teeth

There is a misconception that only old people can lose their teeth, but this is not the case. Both young and old people can suffer from missing teeth and the effects are devastating. This is because the teeth are the crown of your smile and also help shape your face. Without teeth, you would also not be able to eat properly. You would be limited about when and who to smile to and what and where to eat from.

You will surprised at how many Americans are missing one or more teeth. This is a major problem that many are suffering from, but luckily there is a solution. The answer is dental fixed bridge. They are the solution for gaps in your gums where teeth should be. There are different types of bridges depending on how many teeth you are missing and which ones in particular. The type of bridge for the front teeth will be different from that of your molars. This procedure will also require several weeks to be complete and so you would need to make arrangements with your place of work.

So what is involved?

There are several steps when it comes to getting a dental fixed bridge.

1. The first step is to get a consultation from a qualified dental surgeon who will then assess your teeth situation and give you feedback on the way forward. Once you receive a confirmation that you need a bridge, you can book an appointment to have the procedure done.

2. The second stage of this process involves you and the dentist making an informed decision about which materials to use for your bridge depending on how many teeth are missing and where those gaps in your teeth are.

3. The third phase consists of the number of procedures you will have to undergo to fix the bridge into your gums. Depending on the severity of your missing teeth, you may need more than three visits to your dentist. You will need to work your schedule around these visits. Most reputable companies should give you time off to get your dental fixed bridge procedure done. It is critical that you have ample time for the procedures and any necessary recovery period.

Now that you know what is involved, you should be able to make a better, more informed decision when it comes to you missing teeth. You may worry about the cost of this procedure, but you will find that most insurance firms will pay for this procedure. You are also guaranteed that this is a permanent solution, especially if you practice good hygiene. You must brush your teeth at least twice a day with a good toothbrush and a dentist recommended toothpaste.
