Front End Loaders – Different Uses For Construction

In the construction areas, you can see a lot of equipments that are used for different purposes. When it comes to moving different materials around, a machine used is a front loader. It is also called a scoop loader, a bucket loader, shovel and even a front end loader. It can be called by different names but its main purpose is to transfer materials from one place to another with the use of the movable arms with a bucket in the end. It is a very efficient machine when it comes to building large infrastructure, commercial property, homes and also roads and highways.

The front end loader is sometimes permanently attached to the whole machine but most of the time; we can see a removable attachment. If different attachments can be placed in the loader, it becomes an even more useful machine because you can just replace it with a different application according to the purpose that you want it to do. The uses of a front loader is to load materials, lay pipes in creating pipe lines, clean out any obstacles in construction and also it is used for digging just like that of backhoes. Although it is not that efficient as the backhoe, it can still be used for this kind of purpose.

The capacity of the bucket can store even up to three to six cubic meters of earth or other materials that you want to load on a front end loader. In a construction business, it is not only used to load what was dug by the backhoe but also the different construction materials that are used by the workers. Some load tools, wood, pipes and other equipments used in the site.

Aside from that purpose, front loaders are also used during the winter season where there is a problem when it comes to piles of snow. It can hinder driving and travelling once the snow is not cleared immediately along the streets and roads. This machine can be used for snow removal. The snow that it clears can be hailed in trucks.

Most of the front end loaders make use of wheels and not tracks. They are more efficient when on wheels because it provides better operation due to the mobility and speed advantage that it can provide. Aside from that, wheeler front loaders also help reduce damage in roads that are paved in comparison to track loaders.

Aside from the uses of the machine, the owner must be able to know about how to operate the machine and more on front loader repair. How to operate the machine must be learned so that it will be utilized well on the construction area. Since it is a very useful machine, knowledge and maintenance of the machine is also very important.

There are many machines used for construction and one of them is a front loader. It has a lot of uses as mentioned above and it surely benefits someone who owns it. It is best to have great information about these machines especially if you have your own construction business.

How to Use a Medical Lift Chair the Right Way

Medical lift chairs, also called recliner lift chairs, are very helpful for seniors and those with mobility challenges. But there is a certain way they should be used and set up for the maximum benefit. Here is how to use a medical lift chair and set it up the right way.

Medical lift chairs are a great tool and piece of furniture for anyone that has trouble getting in and out of chairs. They are designed to make it very easier for a person getting into a chair and help the person get up out of the chair when they want to stand up.

These are big, heavy chairs, a lot like a traditional recliner. They come in a variety of sizes to accommodate people of different sizes. When bring this piece of furniture into the home you want to make sure you have enough space. It is important to keep in mind that the chair will be tipping and reclining, so make sure the chair is at a minimum 2 feet from any walls or surrounding furniture. Depending on the version, some fop the chairs will recline 180 degrees, so you want to make sure it is on a space that you won’t knock anything over.

As well, you want to make sure there are no area rugs in front of the chair. The person getting into this chair will have mobility challenges to begin with and a lose rug will present a slip and fall hazard.

After placing the chair in the appropriate space, it will need to be plugged into the wall. Also, make sure it is securely attached at the back of the chair. Most lift chairs have power systems that include a battery backup. That is very helpful so the chair still operates in the event of a black out. Make sure this battery back up is functioning and is turned on.

On many recliner lift chairs the remote that controls the reclining feature will require batteries. If that is the case make sure you put in the proper batteries.

When preparing to sit in the chair, make sure the chair is fully raised first. That way all you have to do is back into it and sit slightly. Sitting should take very little bending of the knees.

Once you are positioned in the hair press the button on the remote control to adjust the recline position. You will be able to stop at any position that is comfortable. A 2 position chair will recline anywhere up to 90 degrees. A 3 position chair will recline anywhere up to 180 degrees. The infinite chair will have a separate button to adjust the foot rest.

You want to make sure you always keep the hand controller within reach so you can quickly make an adjustment when desired.

When you want to get out of the lift chair, once again press the button on the controller and tilt the chair forward. Let the chair do the work. You should be able to step right out of the chair very easily.

An Elevator Speech – ONE Key Reason Most Fail

An elevator speech is your chance to grab attention as a business.

The bad news is:

  1. You have very little time (you need to make an impact in 10 seconds) to make a great first impression
  2. Most elevator speeches sound the same
  3. Your audience is only vaguely interested in what you do at best

So why bother? Well, if you accept these difficulties are real, when you have a GREAT elevator speech you will generate great interest because it is so rare.

However you need to aware of the biggest single mistake most business owners make that plays into the hands of these 3 items of bad news: They waste time talking about irrelevancies that only matter to them.

That might sound harsh. it is not done deliberately but often times business owners, sales people etc. will waste that first 10 seconds with statements like:

"My name is Joe from Acme Inc. I was not expecting to have to give my introduction today and I have only been with the company a few weeks so I am still learning. This is the first time I have ….. ….. etc. etc. "

"I am Joe from Acme Inc and we are a full service, customer driven XYZ company that is based on the corner of 55th and Main. We have been in the city for 50 years, in fact we just had our 50th anniversary celebration last week "

"I'm Joe from Acme, and we are so excited that we just had our best Quarter ever! Even in this economy we are growing rapidly and we just opened up a couple of new offices in the north of the city"

Two things are a problem here:

a) Most people do not care – again, sorry if that sounds harsh but they do not. They have their own issues to deal with: not enough clients, clients leaving, the recession, HR issues, Marital issues, their dog has just run away – anything. They need to know you are a possible solution to those problems, not how long you have been in business

b) Everyone else says the same type of thing – listen the next time you go to a networking meeting. The above examples are exaggerations for effect, but not by much. Listening to the 10th person tell you how long the company has been around is boring and not worth paying attention to.

The solution?

Be ready – you NEVER know when you will have to give your elevator speech. Be prepared to do so at any time

Ruthlessly cut out stuff about you and your company – focus on your ideal client. After you give your name tell the listener (s) who you help and what problems you solve for them.

Stop talking – once you have delivered that message you are done. If you have up to 30 seconds you can expand a little but make sure you get your first 10 seconds down.

Woodworking Hand Tools Needed By A Person Who Wants To Become A Professional Furniture Maker Part2

This month we will be looking at chisels and marking and measuring tools. A few years ago now for another magazine I did a test of all of the brands of chisels available in the cabinet makers bevel edged pattern. The objective was to find the best branded chisel for apprentice cabinet makers. In doing this I found out that although chisels vary enormously in the quality of their grinding, the shape and the quality of the handles. However most of the manufactures are using a very similar grade of steel so the edge holding capacity of certainly European made chisels were very similar. What we did learn at this time was that if you move away from the European kind of chisel to the Japanese chisel it was possible to gain an edge holding capacity that would outlast the European chisel by 4 or 5 times. The disadvantage of going to Japanese is that they are made from a slightly more brittle steel but if one is careful in the way one uses them this would not seem to be a too great a disadvantage. However a slightly more serious disadvantage is the fact that re-sharpening a Japanese chisel takes a good deal longer than sharpening a European one. This is because the edge was made from a much harder steel and requires much greater care in sharpening.

So you pays your money and you takes your choice. If you get a European type pattern chisel you may well be sharpening the edge 4 or 5 times more frequently than the owner of a Japanese pattern chisel but sharpening tools should not be a big deal, it should be something that should be accomplished as a natural part of the rhythm of working. You work paring away at that tough bit of Maple for 15 – 20 – 25 minutes then your concentration goes and the natural way to restore it is a gentle walk down to the sharpening bench – strop, strop one side and strop, strop the other side , change stones, strop strop one side and strop, strop the other and you're back again to work. Sharpening is good for you.

You are going to need a set of chisels that go down less than 1/8 th inch to approximately 11/2 inches. Especially in the small sizes you are going to need all of the chisels in as many variations in width as you can get. This is because one chisel may not fit in that dovetail opening while another one will. This can be best achieved by buying one set of chisels in say imperial measure (fractions of an inch) and then buying chisels that fill in the sizes between these in metric measure. Look at the way the chisel is ground. One of the features of the chisel is the way the back of the chisel is bevelled or cut back to lighten the blade. This really should go right down as close as possible to the flat back of the chisel. Imagine the difficulty of paring into a dovetail socket with a chisel that did not do this (and many of them do not, with many chisels the bevelling is just a decorative effect rather than a useful property). Look also at the way the handle is fixed on to the blade and look at the size of handles. Many manufacturers these days are fitting one size of handle onto both small and large blades making the tools unbalanced and unwieldy. My personal preference is for wooden handle chisels that are not covered with a slippery plastic lacquer. Coming down to specific recommendations. I think of the Europeans pattern chisel I would recommend the Sorby 167 series. These are available from 1 / 8th inch up to 1 1/2 inches and cost between £ 18.82 for the smallest up to £ 25.74 for the largest. Of the Japanese I would recommend the "Umeki-Nomi." These are very well bevelled chisels in fact they are often called dovetail chisels well made without being too expensive and available in 3mm, 6 mm, 9mm and 12 mm. Axminster power tools stock these at prices from £ 26 these chisels like most Japanese chisels have hollows ground into the flat backs to help with the fettling or preparation process.

Paring chisels are usually ground at a slightly finer angle and never used with a mallet. I have a pair of very beautiful Japanese paring chisels, one of 25 mm in width and a second of 35 mm width. These are extremely beautifully well balanced tools with long red oak handles but sadly I can not find a supplier in the UK who can provide similar chisels for my students but I think they are available from the Garrett Wade catalogue. I hesitate to recommend a European pattern paring chisel because it takes too long to flatten the backs of a wide, long chisel. This is where the Japanese pattern with the hollow back scores so strongly. Sharpening your chisels you'll need a Japanese waterstone. "King" make a very good 1200 grit stone at about £ 10.50 and I would also recommend buying a "King" finishing stone of 6000 grit. This will cost you £ 17.20. You can get a finer 8000 grit stone but I do not think I would recommend this.

Now I will move on to marking and measuring tools. These are essential bits of equipment. First lets look at rules. This is not an imperial measure workshop and we are going to ask you to convert from feet and inches and start thinking in millimetres. Once you get used to it you'll find it a much easier way of measuring out jobs. Buy rules with clear measurements that are engraved into the surface of the rule. There are lots of rules with metric and imperial measure but the best rule we've found is in metric only and it is produced by Stanley and is their metric 47R Range. These rules are available in 150 mm, 300 mm, 600 mm, and 1 metre and range in price between £ 4.04p and £ 23.01p. Please try to avoid cheap rules and avoid those rules that have metric and imperial and half millimetre graduations. These rules just tend to confuse. I would think to start with I would buy a 1 metre, a 300 mm and a 150 mm and later get a 600 mm. Measuring tapes are also useful for rough measuring out on boards and as long as it's reasonably accurate any type of tape will do the job.

For marking knives we have taken to using Swann Morton Scalpels – there are several different kinds of handles and the blades are easily replaceable. This is after years of using specialist marking knives with the bevel on one side. Perhaps it's my eyesight failing but I find the scalpel gives a cleaner crisper line to work to. You'll need probably two marking gauges and two cutting gauges. "Crown" make quite nice small gauges and the Joseph Marples No.2 gauge is a well made simple gauge. One of the nicest gauges is the Veritas wheel marking gauge. This is quite a costly item at £ 15.08p and I probably would not spend that kind of money myself but it does look a very nice tool. If you did not want to buy the Veritas I may go for the Axminster Superior Marking Gauge at £ 8.64 made in Rosewood with brass fittings.

For mortice gauges you really do need to spend over £ 20 to buy a precision piece of equipment usually in Rosewood with brass fittings. You may find a good one second-hand but if you do not then look at the Crown 154 Mortice Gauge at £ 21 or the Axminster Power Tools Superior Mortice Gauge at £ 28.55.

Along with gauges, rules, and marking out you need two engineers squares. I recommend an all metal engineers square because there are a large number of wooden handled tri-squares around that are just not quite accurate enough for cabinet making. You are going be needing a degree of accuracy in your marking out that will just not be achievable if you have a traitorous little instrument like a square that was not quite square in your tool kit. Go for a high quality engineers square with BS939 engraved on the body of the square. This will guarantee that it's been checked to a level of accuracy that you require. If you can check the square in the tool shop before you buy it against a higher grade of engineers square called an "inspectors grade square" or alternatively against a surface plate with a bottle gauge fitted on it. If the shop do not have these instruments to test your squares they should not be selling the squares, go somewhere else. I would suggest that you buy a small 3 inch square which will cost about £ 17 and a larger 6 inch square which will cost about £ 21. You can if you are feeling very wealthy, go for a 9 inch square rather than a 6 inch square but that will cost you £ 45 or so. Another tool you are going to require is a bevelled straight edge. This is a piece of steel usually between 800 mm and 1000 mm in length used for cutting veneers and checking the flatness of timber and tools. It's an important piece of equipment and you should buy the very best one you can afford. We've seen some bevelled straight edges coming from Axminster Power Tools that have been relatively inexpensive of between £ 15- £ 18 but the straightness has been rather dubious and we have had to have one edge re-machined by our local engineer. Checking and re-machining this tool could become an annual event unless you spend considerably more money and buy an engineers quality straight edge in the first place. That is if you can find one. My only source at the moment is the Garrett Wade catalogue.

You will need two sets of drill bits one set to cover the entire range of holes to be drilled from 1mm to 13mm. this is usually in a boxed set of "Jobbers" type and are available in increments of 0.2mm I think that to start I would be content with 0.5mm size increments. The other type of drills to get are a set of lip and spur pattern bits which are good at cutting clean accurate holes. This is the second of a series of articles published in Good Woodworking magazine by David Savage in August 2000. parts 1 and 3 are also available here, just down load and use them but please credit the author.

The Future Of Burglary – A Think Tank Tackles The Question

Will the future of automobile theft, home invasion, and home and commercial burglary include hackers or internet international independent outsourced hacking contractors? As a futurist and the founder of a think tank, I am sure these crimes will include such hackers. Perhaps prison breaks, or even assassinations (made to look like accidents) will as well. Even clandestine forces will use these methods to attack their targets, unfortunately so too will terrorists. Let me explain.

Soon all homes in the US will have the smart grid meters, next comes the Internet of Things where everything you have that is electrical is connected to your entire network – your refrigerator, appliances, washing machine, computers, smartphone, the internet, garage door, security system, cable TV, car, kids toys, microwave, range, stove, oven, dishwasher, sleep number bed, air-conditioning system, heater, Amazon Prime order button, solar panels, gas meter, fire detector, water system, sprinklers, heater – you get the point. Now then, if you wanted to get people out of the house or to open the door, you simply set off a fire alarm, or turn on the gas stove without lighting it. Or if you wanted to blow them up, you turn on the gas, while they are gone, they come home, you light the furnace or stove – boom, no more inhabitants in the local vicinity. See that point?

One think tanker stated; “I think that the future of burglary is going to go very high tech along with car theft and whatever else crimes these morons can think of. What I find interesting is how many prisons now teach computer classes and how some businesses even have their call centers in prisons where one has to give all kinds of personal information to who knows who. Probably better than talking to someone in India and Pakistan where corruption is the name of the game and everyone does it.”

Right so, if everything is connected to the Internet, have an international blackhat hacker simply break into the victim’s system from their computer in Romania – and open the garage door to let in the thieves at a time when no one is home, and you’ll know this from their Facebook Postings, or looking and the non-use of their appliances for the last hour – or a record or pattern of their previous comings-and-goings for the last week or month. The hacker gets an electronic payment for opening the place up and develops a relationship with the criminal gangs – who like locksmiths can get into just about anything, anytime they want to. Think on this.

When All Is At Hand In The Kitchen – Part 1

Despite technological progress of the last decades, work at the kitchen remains hand work. The results of researches showed that when a kitchen is not designed properly it is possible to run a few miles around it having to return to the same workplace, to bend and to squat, and cooking and doing dishes can last for hours! If you are trying to loose weight, it can help. But agree that a kitchen is not the best gym.

Experiments showed that due to the reasonable kitchen design it is possible to economize up to 60% of distance and 30% of time. We have already written about main kitchen design methods, and equipment placement. In this article we will tell you about modern methods of reasonable placement of kitchen appliances that will also considerably save our efforts and time.

It is true not only about small kitchens. Large kitchen can be a problem as well. In wide kitchens a distance between objects can be so considerable, that the owners have to walk a lot between a cooker, sink, fridge and dinner-table. Often, buying a multi-unit kitchen furniture set, it is still necessary to move around in a kitchen trying not to touch or drop anything. Money is wasted on unnecessary meters of cupboards, but still there is no comfort. In fact the keystone of comfort is reasonable use of every square inch. Following the recommendations of ergonomics specialists, leading manufacturers of the world introduce interesting decisions, helping to use kitchen space in full.

First of all professionals advise us to adhere to the sequence of workplaces according to the process of cooking:

1. fridge, placed in the area of products storage;

2. workplace for the first cleaning of products;

3. washing of product, placing a bin there;

4. final preparation of product, cutting, chopping and etc.;

5. cooking;

6. dish serving.

Researches showed that only 20% of people keep all necessary things in a kitchen. Even those things that should always be at hand, such as plates, cups, pans, forks, spoons, electric devices are kept in spare places. Small necessary kitchen things, such as glue, cello tape, scissors, and lighters are kept all over the flat, and are always missing when the most needed. Reasonable internal fitting of modern kitchen furniture set of the best manufacturers makes it possible to keep everything in order, to save time and efforts of the owners. Thanks to this it is possible to use 99,9% of internal space of furniture set.

To save space modern furniture sets are equipped with various shelves, sliding boxes, reticulated pallets and trays. Construction of wall cupboards makes it easy to access things. Doors easily slide to one side, fold vertically, and are not in the way, when opened, the special systems allow fixing a door at necessary height. By the way, cupboards can carry up to 180 pounds — it allows using their space more effectively.

Modern kitchen sets are often equipped with such built-in devices as a sliding board for cutting, ceramic bread box, cupboards for small household appliances with built-in outlets, boxes for spices. There is a place for foil and tape, it is easy to tear off the piece of necessary size from it, and also there is a special place to store jars, wooden box covered with wool to store silver. There is a wide range of special functional elements such as: containers for covers, rails for towels, filters units, cooking books, small kitchen appliances.

The 3 Legs of a Business Plan to Get Financing

Any quick online search on Google or Twitter will reveal a million pages with the rights and wrongs about writing business plans. However whether you are writing your own plan or getting some help from a professional business advisor or company you will need to convince on three main areas, or legs to stand on as we call them, if you want to secure financing to take your business idea forward – the market opportunity, the product or service and the management team.

The 3 Legs of a Business Plan

The Market Opportunity

There just HAS to be a need in some market that is generating a business opportunity. This is the basic bottom line, without it we’re stuffed before we start. However it must also be said that there are lots of needs within any given marketplace that just do not provide commercial opportunities and will not generate any significant Return On Investment (ROI) ever. So, we have to start with this said up front, and need to be very clear why we are doing all this… The business idea has to be commercially viable. i.e. it must generate a profit! At this stage of the process we normally advise a Feasibility Study to confirm this.

We all also need to consider other market drivers – things that are shaping the nature of the chosen market and its future development and how that will affect the proposed business. This could be new legislation, developing environmental issues, specific economic or social factors as well as the ever changing technology factor. Define the chosen market (which should include key players in the market) determine the factors driving it and clearly describe the commercial market opportunity within it.

The Product or Service

So, you KNOW there is a market need (of course you do… ) but where does your product fit in exactly? Having definitively and clearly defined the opportunity, the most important next step is to link what you will offer to that opportunity. You need to be clear why your product or service will not only meet the need but also be able to sustain Competitive Advantage over other products and services in the market.

You need to show how your offer will be positioned in the market place, how does it compare with others out there and clearly show where its clear advantage lies. Your advantage could be any one of an endless number of factors including technical or functional difference, quality or down to basic bottom line price. Whatever it is you need to without doubt demonstrate that it is clearly differentiated in a way that will be valued by the market you are targeting, or the reality is that your makret just won;t buy it!

The Management Team

Okay so now you’ve shown that there is a clear market need for your product, what’s the number one way businesses fail to convert this opportunity? Well, the #1 way is by not having the necessary skills and experience in your management team. Brutal I know, but that’s what we see.

In the end, investor or financing decisions often come down to the “execution risk” of the business plan often referred to as Operational Risk in the business. Unless you have a SOLID management team that is well aligned and extremely knowledgable with your market opportunity there is a real significant risk in your plan. You need the in-house skills relevant to your target market and product or service to execute on the opportunity.

Operational risk also extends to the internal controls, systems and processes. Where the internal management skill-set does not cover these you will no doubt need to hire some specialist help – this could be legal advice, accounting or simple secretarial services.

Plan on More Management

You should definitely think about how to build your broader management team. This should include Non-Executive Directors and independent Advisers that will give an investor or lending bank the confidence that their money is indeed in safe hands and that the business will be managed in line with best practice, not just emotionally by one possibly family team.

Integrating these Legs into your Business Plan

In order to convince yourself and others that your business plan adds up, you need to link these three key elements to the other parts of your business plan.

So for example, you as well as linking the Market Opportunity to your product or service, you also need to show how you are going to reach your target market through your sales and marketing strategy and action plan.

Throughout your business plan you need to show that your plan and the thoughts behind it are “linked up” if you are going to convince an investor or lending bank to part with their cash.

5 Frugal Yet Fab Holiday Party Tips

The holiday season is right around the corner and you want to plan your annual holiday bash but money’s tight and your budget slim. What gives? Here are five truly frugal but totally fabulous tips to throw your best holiday party yet!

Any party host knows that the biggest bill of the night usually is the bar tab. Why not skip it altogether and suggest each guest brings their favorite bottle of wine? Simply put on the invites something along the lines of: “Bring your favorite bottle of vino to share!” You and your guests will get to enjoy a wide array of divine wines without blowing your entire party budget.

Cheap & Chic Decor

Think cheap and chic when it comes to party decorations; string white Christmas lights up the banister, use pillar candles as centerpieces, and fill vases with round holiday ornaments.

Opt for Cocktail Hour

To save on the (hefty) food bill, host your party long before or well after the dinner hour; otherwise, your guests may show up expecting to fill their bellies. Instead of a full-blown feast, serve tasty appetizers and hor d’oeuvres that guests can snack on while sipping (see tip #1). Need some cheap but tasty ideas? Try a massive cheese platter with fresh fruit and mini baguette slices, bite-size gooey chocolate brownies, baked onion dip, or mini crab cakes.

Plan White Elephant

While mingling will be a big part of the party, why not plan something fun and memorable (not to mention cheap)? Mention on the invitations you plan on doing a white elephant exchange and have each guest bring a silly gift.

Tasty Party Favors

Don’t want your guests to leave empty-handed? For inexpensive party favors that are sure to be hit, fill a big bowl with flavored candy canes or homemade cookies and let each guest take one on their way out.

How to Have the Habit of Success – Ten Top Tips

There is one key message in this article. Here it is:

When you do what successful people do, you will be successful.

For many years I have worked as a motivational keynote conference speaker with professionals in a range of industries to help them achieve greater success. I have discovered that the communication skills that lead to success in the healthcare or IT industries, for example, are just the same as those in your personal relationships.

If you’re still not sure whether you need to read this article, ask yourself a couple of important questions:

Would you like to be more successful than you are?

Would you invest an hour of your time listening to me giving a motivational and inspirational keynote speech, or spend ten minutes reading this article, if you knew it would help to make you more successful?

Tip one: Model their Behavior

Research shows that all successful people do much the same things. So, model their behaviour and be like them. Here are three things that successful people do so often that they do so by habit without thinking:

Get your brain used to change

Cross your arms a different way. Tie your laces the wrong way round. Successful people are unafraid of change. Practice.

Write down your ideas

Carry a notepad and pen with you at all times. Use them. Ideas will come to you in the middle of the night, or during a walk, or while you’re working on something else. Write down every idea. Encourage colleagues to do the same. Successful people never waste ideas.

Picture yourself succeeding

Whatever your goal, imagine how you will feel when you achieve it. Where will you be? What will you be wearing? What will people say to you?

Visualization is a powerful tool for success.

Tip two: Learn to listen

Listen with more than your ears. Listen actively.

Act like a professional listener

Raise your eyebrows now and then. Give little nods. Say ‘I see’. Echo what the other person said. Ask short probing questions using what, why, when, how, where.

Watch out for ‘body-language’

Often, when people are not being honest, their hand tries to cover their mouth. Men wearing glasses take them off, or look down. Women often look up and find an imaginary piece of makeup on their eyelash.

Tip three: Stop ‘trying’

The opposite of ‘succeed’ is not ‘fail’. It’s ‘try’. Eliminating the word ‘try’ from your vocabulary will make you more effective.

Instead of saying ‘I’ll try…’, say ‘I will…’

Sometimes you will find you can’t honestly say that you will do something. This is a sign that you are not committed to doing it. Now you are using ‘meta-language’. If you don’t mean what you say, don’t say it.

Be suspicious of people who say ‘I’ll try’

When someone tells you that he will try, be alert to the likelihood that he may not be able to keep his word or is not committed to the task.

Tip four: Get rid of your gremlin

We all have a gremlin who whispers in our ear and stops us taking chances. ‘You can’t do this,’ it mutters. ‘You’ll never do that.’ Sack your gremlin today.

Contradict your worries immediately

When the little doubting voice whispers in your ear, tell yourself the exact opposite, loud and clear. Like visualization, saying a thing makes it true.

Let your body educate your brain

Sit up straight. Head high. Shoulders relaxed. Eyes direct. Smile. Your gremlin finds it hard to counteract positive body posture and will eventually fall off your shoulder.

Tip five: How can I do this better?

Successful people never stop asking the question ‘How can I do this better?’ Get used to doing this too.

When you suggest change, your team may assume you’re criticising what they do now. Reassure them by showing that you are also open to change. Challenge everything, however small or obvious.

Take it slow and steady

Roger Bannister conquered the four-minute mile by first running a quarter-mile in a minute, then a half-mile, and so on. Everyone else was trying to run a whole mile in four minutes. Break down your goals into smaller, achievable chunks and eventually you will get there.

Tip six: Admit your weaknesses

Look at each of the jobs you do. There are some tasks that you don’t enjoy and are not good at. Ask yourself why you are doing them.

Hire an expert

Perhaps you’re saving money. The truth is, because it’s not what you are good at, or what you love to do, you cannot do it as well or as quickly as a person who adores doing that same task. You are wasting your own time and in the long term you are wasting money. Get someone else to do it.

Look around at the others in your team. Everyone has some jobs they are not gifted for, but that must be done. So, offer to swap some tasks around, so that everyone has more of the jobs they excel at. You will all have more time to become successful.

Tip seven: Behavior breeds behavior

Family and work colleagues are strongly affected by how you behave. They watch you, and judge your mood, based on how you look. So, consider the message you want to send out, and behave accordingly.

Set a relaxed, creative, happy atmosphere

Smile, say ‘hello’ and make small talk when you go into the office each morning. Come home from work with something positive to say, and ask your partner and family how their days have been.

Dare to be different

Just because ‘everyone’ does something in a certain way, albeit an inefficient one, doesn’t mean that you have to do it that way too. Be daring. Break the mould now and again.

Tip eight: Imagination

Einstein said that imagination is more important than knowledge. He had no rockets on which to test his new Theory of Relativity, so he used his imagination.

Give your imagination room to roam

Have regular ‘down time’.

Go for a walk in the park.

Chat with a colleague at the water-cooler.

Take the long way back from lunch for once.

Get used to encouraging your mind to roam.

Value every idea you have.

Write down things that other people say that strike you as clever or insightful.

Tip nine: Take action

‘Being successful’ is not in itself the objective. Think about what you will have, and what you will be able to do, once you are successful. Instead of thinking ‘I want to be rich’, think what having money will buy you, such as a new car or two holidays abroad a year.

Make your goals real to you. Research shows that people who write down their goals are more likely to succeed than those who don’t. Write yours down, be specific, and mean them.

Set out on the path to success

Look at your written goals, and work backwards towards the present day. What achievable steps could you take to reach your objectives? Write those down too.

Tip ten: Behave like a successful person

When you ride a bike, and look too hard at the one pothole in the road, you will ride straight into it. If, instead, you concentrate on the rest of the smooth road, you will miss the hole completely. Be careful where your negative thoughts may take you.

Keep success in mind

Whatever you think about, you get. Decide not to even consider failure any more, or that might be just what you end up with. Always rehearse successful scenarios in your mind, in vivid colour, and in real time, starring yourself as the successful person.

Keep score

Give yourself credit when things go your way. When they don’t, ask: ‘How can I make this better in future?’ Revisit your written objectives now and then, and cross off the steps you’ve already taken.

I wish you every success.

Computer Tips

Computer errors are very common and every computer user may face different kinds of issues so they should learn about the solutions of the common computer related problems. The common factors that cause problems in computer are viruses, spyware, Trojan horses, adware, corrupted registry, faulty hardware, low memory, low capacity hard disk, low CPU speed and stuffing computers with large number of software applications. In this article, I have compiled a list of the most common computer problems and their solutions.

Computer is very slow

This is very common issue and it arises due to the several factors such as too many programs running at the startup, low RAM, low processor speed, spyware running as a background application, errors in the Windows registry and the buildup of the garbage files on the hard disk. Scanning your computer with an up-to-dated anti virus and anti spyware program, cleaning and repairing Windows registry, increasing memory, deleting temporary files, deselecting the programs at startup and uninstalling unwanted software applications can solve this problem to a very large extent.

Network Server is not accessible

In a networked environment every computer depends on the server for logon authentication, files access, internet and printing access and sharing server resources. The downtime and the communication failure with the server are very problematic and frustrating for the users. Check both end of the network cable and make sure that the attached RJ-45 connectors are properly plugged into the LAN card and hub / switch. Ping the server's IP and make sure you get the reply from server. Ensure that your server is on and working fine. A large number of the running applications on the server and simultaneous access to the server from a number of users can slow down the performance and speed of the server. Scan your PC with an up-to-dated antivirus program because certain viruses and spyware are responsible for the communication failure. Replace your LAN card with new one and assign different IP address and try to connect with the server.

Computer locks up or freezes

Missing .dll files, viruses, faulty registry, defective RAM and spyware slows down the performance of the server and it locks up frequently. Scanning PC with the anti virus and anti spyware program, cleaning and repairing registry and increasing RAM can solve this issue.

Computer will not boot

Faulty power cable, power extension and power supply all contributes to this problem. Checking one by one each of the above components can pinpoint the problematic part. Simply replace that part with new one and your compute is okay.

Computer reboots itself

Defective cooling fan, power supply, RAM, viruses and spyware can cause this to happen.

Memory usage is maximum in computer

Either the memory is less than the recommend memory to run certain applications, swap memory chips with each other, scan your computer for viruses and spyware, increasing the page file and physical memory can overcome this problem.

Browser's home page has changed itself

This is most likely a spyware problem and scanning computer with an up-to-dated anti spyware program can fix this issue.

Computer's clock losing time

If you see that your computer's clock is losing time frequently replace your CMOS battery.

My computer can not get connected to internet

Check IP address, gateway address, scan your PC for viruses and spyware, check network cables and make sure that server's or gateway's firewall application is not blocking http requests from your PC.

Computer making noises

Faulty RAM, VGA, hard disk, Sound card, Processor and other components produce noises. Make sure that each hardware device is properly connected inside the PC and if the problem is still not resolved then replace the faulty hardware component with new one.

Migraine – Or is Nerve Damage Causing Your Headache?

Millions of people suffer from headaches. This often causes missed work days. less productive days, and less enjoyable days. Migraine is a specific intracranial vascular headache. Many use the term mistakenly to describe other types of headaches. There are many other causes of headache and many of these can be caused by nerve dysfunction.

The occipital nerve is a large nerve in the neck. It can be damaged by such things as whiplash injuries and improper patient positioning during oral surgery. Occipital neuralgia causes pain in the back of the head but this can be referred to other areas. This is because the ganglion interconnects with the trigeminal ganglion in the brain stem. Throbbing is often associated with this type of headache because of proximity to the occipital artery.

The auriculotemporal nerve is located near the ear and the top of the jaw on both sides. Common headaches with problems to this nerve are temple headaches. This nerve is commonly damaged in TMJ surgery. it is usually pounding because it is near the temporal artery.

Another nerve that can cause problem is compression of the ethmoid nerve in the sinuses. An ear nose and throat doctor can diagnosis this problem by seeing if the patient has tenderness when using the instrument commonly used to explore the sinuses.

Another type of neuralgia that can be found involves the supraorbital nerve and can be caused by a head hitting a windshield or a punch to the front of the head. Treatment and diagnosis involves injection of local anesthetic with steroid. The headache can sometimes take years before it starts to present problems.

The infraorbital nerve can also cause problems and is often misdiagnosed as maxillary sinusitis.

Nerve problems causing headaches are different than migraines and need to be treated as such. Diagnosis is made by injection of local anesthetic into the nerve that seems to be the problem. Treatment is directed at reversing the underlying pathology. Entrapments are treated with injectable anti inflammatory medications. Always remember you can not treat what you can not diagnosis. Patients as well as doctors need to be proactive in finding a potential source for chronic headaches.

Profitable Home Based Businesses

There are a lot of people that are looking for profitable home based businesses. With the convenience of staying at home, comes a lifestyle second to none. Your time is your own and you can devote the amount of time to your business that you require to make it profitable. Perhaps the only downside to a home based business is that it does take time to get up and running and that when it becomes successful, it can end up taking too much of your time.

Divide your thinking into two categories. Service based and /or product based businesses. Service based businesses can mean smaller setup cost and better cash flow, but product based businesses can mean bigger profits with higher turnover.

Here are some great ideas for a home based business.

Service Based Businesses

1) Provide an answering service for mobile salesmen. Most sales people are on the road and with the event of mobile phones, can find themselves under siege by telephone customers when they least need to be. Ring around the various sales people, introduce your business and give estimates on your cost. Arrange meetings to present your business on a professional level and to seal the deals.

2) Child minding services are in high demand with more people moving into a workforce that is short on labor. This can mean some initial setup costs and licensing requirements, but can be very profitable for the provider.

3) Telephone translation services. If you have a second language you can provide this service with ease. If you don’t, consider getting some training and learn the language of your choice. By providing a translation service you will find readily available work. To keep this at home you can advise your customers of a three way telephone conversation method. This skill and business can also take you may places if you like travel.

4) Medical practitioners often require voice to document translation services. They record their note on a voice recorder, email it to your service and you type the document out and return to the sender. This translation service does require some knowledge of medical terminology, but can grow into a large business. Check with your local medical centers as to the demand for this service. Check internet sources for services already operating.

Product Based Businesses.

1) Computer sales and repairs is a big area demand and to setup a local home based business can be easily done. You may require some computer skills but nothing that can’t be learn from the internet or other service people. The great advantage of this type of business is that it does not cost a great amount to start up and has no large outgoing costs.

2) Small engine sales and repairs are something that can be done from your garage. Parts and service catalog’s are relatively cheap. Advertising is a critical part of this business as you will not have direct street frontage for your business. Beware of local bylaws and upsetting neighbors.

3) Internet based buying and selling of goods is a newer type of business alternative. Make sure you investigate your products and know your markets before entering this area of home based business.

Xbox Death – Does The Towel Method Or Self Soldering Work?

When the Xbox360 technical fault came out, there was many rumors that went about on the internet about the various ways to fix your own Xbox360 by yourself and all. One way that seems to be famous was the Towel method thats really a temporary fix. The whole reason why its works is because the problem is due to the lead free solder on the circuit box.

With a higher and more powerful processing power in the CPU unit, the heat generated when the console is turned on is too much for the solder in the ball grid array solider connection to the GPU. This causes the solder on the circuit board to break connection and thus, resulting in the 3 red lights.

The towel method is done by first removing the the controllers and also any other connecting wires but the power cable. Leave the Xbox360 on and wrap it in 3 towels. Now leave it for around 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, let it cool down. After that just power up the Xbox360 and hope for the best. The method works only temporary and for how long is really up to fate.

The solder basically heats up and expands thus connecting to each other again. However, this method will also heat up your motherboard and other circuitry, thus creating a potential fire hazard. Its really a just a matter of being able to reconnect the solder in the set. Thus, the heat gun method will also work, these are just only temporary fixes. If you are good, you can do a complete reballing of the GPU set with lead solder like this guy.
