Chandeliers Can Make a Major Improvement to Your Dining Room

Far from being an affectation of the nouveau rich, a chandelier can be wonderful addition to your dining room. Whether you are looking to add a little something to your dining room or you are redecorating the whole house, a chandelier can dramatically change the look of the area its installed in a variety of wonderful ways.

First and foremost a chandelier is a light source and you can count on it to bathe your dining are in a very specific sort of light. Lamps and simple ceiling lights are often harsh or murky due to their shades, but with a chandelier, you have glass shades that come in a variety of different thicknesses and that can diffuse your light in a number of different ways. The first thing to think about is where the light will be directed. If you are only interested in one focal point for the room you may want to go with a more traditional chandelier that will just keep the light focused on one area. For more variety, however, there are plenty of chandelier that can be adjusted to provide some variety in where the light is pointed. Some chandeliers will offer the best of both worlds and between their multiple bulbs and the refraction ability the glass, will be able to bathe your dining room in a warm light.

More than just being lights however, chandeliers are wonderful decorative objects, bringing class and art to a room in an unobtrusive manner. There are many different effects you can convey with a chandelier. For instance, you can go with a extremely traditional one, whether it is a beautifully graceful and attractive cut glass chandelier with a floral design, or you can try a more modern feel when you look for a chandelier that is made of graduated glass chimes. There are thousands of different models of chandeliers and whatever decorating plan you are interested in, you can find one that suits you.

Chandeliers also fit into smaller spaces. Far from being the large glass affairs that you might think they are, many modern chandeliers are wide rather than tall, making them perfect even for a ceiling that isn’t ten feet tall. They won’t impede on your walking area the way a floor lamp will and they’ll add a lovely decorative touch to your dining room.

When a guest wanders into the room, depending on the layout, their eyes are usually drawn up, and a chandelier is a charming thing to have draw conversation to! You don’t have to stick with just clear glass, either; many chandeliers are made with stained glass, giving your dining room a wonderful Art Deco or Art Nouveau style. You can play this up in many ways, or you can let the chandelier speak for itself and leave the rest of the room bare. Either way, you can make a striking statement with both your lighting and your chandelier If you are looking to redo your dining room, don’t be restricted to the chairs and table. Look up and think about the space you could fill with a chandelier and decide exactly what sort of light you want in your space!

How to Plant in Grass

Many of the bulbs that flower in late winter, early spring and mid spring, such as Galanthus or snowdrop, Eranthis or winter aconite, crocuses, anemones, most daffodils and some Erythronium (dog's tooth violet), thrive in grass, coming up year after year and self seeding themselves.

These robust bulbs can withstand competition from grass roots and are much more suitable for this type of planting. Early in the year, when the grass is short and competition for light is not a problem, the pointed shoots cut through the turf quite easily.

How to plant bulbs individually? First, throw the bulbs on to the turf in a random fashion and plant accordingly, but try to allow a distance of about 7.5 to 20cm or 3 to 8in between each one.

Then, dig a deep, square hole, of about a spade's width and about 25cm or 10in deep, depending on the size of the bulb. You may need to go deeper than one spade's depth. After that, plant the bulb, base down and the neck or nose pointing up.

Cover the bulb with loose soil and replace the top divot. Firm it down gently.

How to plant bulbs in large groups? First, dig a trench a spade's width and fold the turf backwards on itself. Use a trowel or dig down to a depth of about 25cm or 10in. Then, plant Narcissus poeticus var recurvus with Camassia Leichtlinii, placing them alternately about 20cm or 8in apart.

Next, fill in with loose soil so that the tops of the bulbs are covered. Replace the turf and firm down well with the heel of your boot.

Although it will look untidy, allow six weeks to pass after flowering before cutting the grass where bulbs have been growing. This will ensure good results for the following year. The grass will soon recover.

Splitting Daylillies – The Easiest Way to Propagate Daylilies

Splitting daylillies is one of the easiest ways to propagate them in your garden, or to a new location. Daylilies are extremely hearty, so do not be afraid of taking a shovel to them and doing what you have to do.

Daylillies can be split every 2-4 years and the splitting should really be tagged by the size of the plant. If the thing is looking like Chewbacca from Star Wars or your last Chia Pet, it's likely time to split. You can generally split the plant at any time during the year, but I prefer the fall after the daylilly has flowered because the plant has time to recover from any potential shock that the transplant may induce. Remember you're a daylilly surgeon now. This is not an activity for the timid, so put on your work gloves and grab the following:

  • A 5 Gallon Bucket
  • A spade shovel
  • Proper gardening shoes (remember, do as I say, not as I do)
  • Watering can
  • Extra dirt (does not have to be from a bag)

The first thing I would recommend doing is finding a spot in your yard that you can get some extra dirt and put about 2-3 shovel-fulls in the 5 gallon bucket for each daylilly that you will be splitting. If you MUST, you can buy planting soil from your local home improvement store or nursery, but why spend the money; you have perfectly good soil in your yard. Do not overfill the bucket past the point that you can carry it, and if you're splitting a lot of daylillies, make sure to use a wheel barrow instead.

The shovel is going to be the main star of today's show. There are many types of daylilies, but for the most part, the splitting is the same. The stella d'oro variety (the ones that look more like bushhes or the hair from a troll doll), simply require that you place the shovel tip right down the center of the plant and give the shovel a good stomp with your foot. Remove the half that you're digging up and fill the hole with the dirt that you have in the 5 gallon bucket or wheel barrow. Give it a little water and the splitting part is complete.

Now take the part of the plant that you removed from the ground and move it to its new location. Dig a hole deep enough to cover up the tubers or roots and fill it with dirt while suspending the daylilly at just the right height above the hole. Tamp the dirt with your foot and give it plenty of water over the next few days. You may notice the plant turning yellow during this time. This is normal and is simply shock. The plant should come back full steam ahead next season.

The splitting process is identical with larger varieties of daylilies, but you can see the "fans" more clearly and a little extra precaution should be taken with the angle of the shovel. It is very easy to separate the fan from the tube or root system. Do not worry, you will not be a murderer, the original plant will regrow, but you will not have much to transplant at the new location.

Keep the obsession and happy gardening!

Installing a Home Elevator

Most of us are at least somewhat familiar with elevators…we see and ride in them in high-rise office buildings, in hotels, and in other public places like airports and hospitals. I’ll bet that, even if secretly, you fondly remember playing in an elevator as a kid…pushing the buttons and going up, up, up…and then back down again…or maybe pushing all the buttons at once so the car stops on every floor (nah, nobody’s ever done that, right?). Come on, admit it…elevators are cool.

Elevators might be fun for kids but they are oh so utilitarian. They are very efficient because they can vertically transport multiple people, or a large volume of goods or cargo in a very efficient manner. They don’t take up much space relative to the overall footprint of a building and they are exceptionally convenient as compared to trudging up a flight of stairs with, say, an armload of groceries.

For many of the same reasons, installing an elevator in a residential home is becoming increasingly popular. These days, more and more home renovations are being undertaken for the sake of convenience. Some installations, though, are implemented as a matter of necessity…out of a need to attain a higher degree of accessibility and mobility within ones own home.

Installation of a home elevator can satisfy either or both of those potential considerations of convenience or necessity. More and more these days, single family homes are either being initially constructed with elevators or are being re-modeled to specifically include an elevator.

One good reason to install a home elevator is because you just want one…and that’s usually a pretty good reason for just about anything..within reason and limitations, of course. But, what of the most excellent reason…that of necessity? Let’ face it, we are all going to get older. That staircase in the home that used to suffice just fine for getting upstairs or down can, seemingly overnight, start looking allot more like work than just a means to an end. Carrying things up and down the stairs can not only become more difficult as we age…but can become dangerous as well.

Residential elevators, though, are not particularly cheap. A very low end system, with only one additional stop other than the ground floor and with minimal accessories can cost in the range of $12000 – $15000. A high end system with multiple stops, numerous accessories, and an upgraded architectural beauty and presence can cost $30,000 and up.

Particularly in the case of the re-modeling of an existing home, there are other considerations, too. Typically, there are structural modifications that must be designed and implemented that will require the services of both a licensed Professional Engineer and a licensed General Contractor…all in addition to the expense of the elevator system itself.

There are, generally, four different types of technology used to power residential elevators. They are:

Hydraulic Elevators – This is the old standby type that has been around for many years and that we are mostly familiar with. They operate smoothly, are quite mechanically quite reliable, and are time-proven. One potential drawback to this type of elevator is that it requires a separate equipment room to house the oil tank and associated components. This type of elevator is generally regarded as the best all-around choice when all factors are considered.

Pneumatic Elevators – Sometimes referred to as vacuum elevators, this type of elevator relies on air pressure to move the car. It does not generally require a separate machine room to house any equipment. They are, however, noisy…and they are usually somewhat limited in the loads that they can carry. This type of elevator is generally less expensive than the hydraulic type.

Overhead Drum Elevators – This type of elevator uses a suspended car with the equipment being mounted in the roof structure so that no equipment room is needed.

Counterweight Elevators – The counterweight type of elevator, also referred to as an electric elevator, is operated by counterweights that keep the elevator car suspended in a shaft. This type of residential elevator use hydraulics so there is no oil or associated tank needed. Since the elevator car is suspended from above, it is considered to be less safe in earthquake prone areas.

If you think that there might be a home elevator in your future, know that there are many different styles, types, options, and technologies available…and over a wide range of prices as well. But if you find yourself needing the convenience of an elevator, and bidding the use of the stairs a hearty goodbye, then you might find yourself asking…Going up? And with a just a little hint of a smile, too, I’ll bet.

Oil Pulling In A Nutshell

You may have heard about oil pulling at least once or twice and also you may not be much aware about this particular process. There will be a lot to say about oil pulling and its natural healing power for many ailments like blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, eczema, asthma, migraine, arthritis and more.

Oil Pulling is a very simple process which has to be done as the first thing in the morning after brushing your teeth but before eating or drinking anything. Of course, it is with some kind of oil, all types of oil are not advised for oil pulling. Studies say that sun flower and sesame oil would be very effective. As lots of people have gotten good results with this, you may also try it out.

First thing in the morning just after brushing your teeth but before eating or drinking anything, means your stomach must be empty to do oil pulling. Take one table spoon oil [sesame or sun flower] into your mouth. Find a good place to sit properly, close your eyes and stay away from all fluctuations, slowly move the oil between your teeth, swish, pull and suck the oil through your teeth, do it very slowly as it would be quite hard at the beginning . Just continue this process for 15 to 20 minutes, now you will feel that the oil is turning thin and it helps you to move it so easily. Your mouth will get full after 20 to 25 minutes if you do it properly. Now it is the time for you to spit the oil out. See the color of the oil, it will be pure white. If it is yellowish, then you have not done it long enough. Clean your mouth once again and also clean the wash tub properly as the oil contains millions of germs and bacteria. You are allowed to take your break fast after 10 more minutes; you may need to take one or two glasses of water just after the oil pulling

This oil pulls out all mucous, germs, bacteria and toxins from your body through saliva. Ayurvedic treatment says that the mucous ["Kabham" in Ayurveda] is an unwanted thing that must be removed from your body. You can do oil pulling 2 or 3 times a day based on your health condition or if you need a fast result. But make sure that you do it in an empty stomach. Wait 4 to 5 hours after meal, 1 or 2 hours after drink. Do not do it before 2 hours if you have taken fruit juice or any kind of thick beverage.

Do not swallow the oil while swishing because it contains germs and toxins. Do not get worried if you swallow a few drops, nothing will go wrong. Do not stop oil pulling if your symptoms get aggravated, just continue another few more days and see. Stop the oil pulling for few days if your symptoms get worse and continue after few days. Give short breaks in between and you could come to a normal process within a short period of time.

Space Saving Staircases

If you are living in a small home, one of the things you need to consider very carefully is where you can economize on space. One of the things that tends to come up time after time is the amount of space a traditional staircase takes – and the amount of space underneath the stairs that often tends to get wasted in many homes. However, it doesn’t have to be like that: you really can do something about changing your traditional staircase for one of the many space saving staircases now available on the market – some of them retailing at quite economical prices. Why is it that the traditional staircase tends to take up so much space, though?

There are different building regulations that relate to various categories of staircases, from private homes to commercial properties; to inside stairways to stairs that are built outdoors. Obviously, in this article, we are talking about an internal staircase within a private home. The regulations appertaining to this incorporates the depth of each tread, the minimum size of each tread, and the most appropriate width for each tread. For a private home the width of each tread needs to be 600mm, with between 170 – 220mm for the rise between each tread. The main stair in a house really needs to be 190mm wide, with an optimum tread width of 800mm.

In some older properties, built towards the end of the 19th century, you often find the staircases are too steep and the treads too narrow for a comfortable footfall, giving you the impression of falling backwards as you reach the top of the stair. This is hardly safe for an elderly person to climb safely, or for a young child to mount. Modern staircases are certainly more attractive but, if you need to be convinced into replacing your old traditional staircase with a modern one, perhaps the emphasis on health and safety could convince you?

One concept for space saving stairs is to keep the stair flight straight so as to minimize the space they take up. In general, this is quite true. Stairs that have turns in them and unnecessary landings as the stairs rise do result in a lot of wasted space below and behind the stairs that you can do nothing with. The exception, however, is the spiral staircase that can look quite elegant, is easy to install, and uses the minimum of space. Detracting from this is the inability for disabled stair-lifts to be fitted – or, at least, I haven’t come across one yet. It is also more of a chore to take furniture up and downstairs when the need for moving your furniture becomes apparent – as in moving house.

Choosing a manufacturer who focuses on making staircases for small spaces, such as Mobirolo, an Italian manufacture, you can choose to float your new staircase, incorporate modern materials such as aluminum, or plump for an elegant spiral staircase. Mobirolo have been making staircases exclusively for over 50 years. Their ranges include designs by Spiral and self-assembly kits including their Fusion range, plus Stilo, Venus, Optima and others. In fact, choices today are quite varied and, unless you proactively choose to keep it, you no longer need to climb that wooden hill to bed.

Stairway to Heaven Tabs – Part 1

I have taught Stairway To Heaven tabs more in my 20 years of teaching than anything else. It is the most popular song I have done the whole time. It's almost mystical to people learning to play guitar. Often times I will hear a student say, "Someday I would like to learn Stairway To Heaven". This is usually followed by comment about how they will probably never be able to play it. It's a very do-able song, but you got to put in the work.

Stairway To Heaven tabs are time consuming and there are a couple of very difficult chords in the song. But if you are serious about guitar you will put in the time to get it done. It's one of those songs that does not just hand itself to you. You got to work for it. If you take it a little at a time you will get it. But be patient.

The first A chord is tricky if you do not have a lot of practice with barring. There are other chords that may give you a little trouble but let's start with this one. If you're a chord is not ringing, try playing the 1st 3 strings on the 5th fret with the outside of your first finger. Many times this one change will help you get the bar chord ringing. You will not always have to do this, but it can get you going in less time.

Another chord that will give you trouble is the D / F # chord that is the 4th chord of the intro. You may be having trouble getting the first string to ring. Again try that one with the outside of your first finger. Now, the 3rd string may be dead sounding too. If this is the case, you need to get your 3rd finger up and over the 3rd string. This is the problem 99% of the time. It's tough to do, but with daily practice you will have it after a little while.

That will get you through the first progress. Keep working on it. It's a lot to do. Do not just try to do the whole song in one sitting. That's a very bad idea. There's just too much stuff in this tune this rush it. That's why I am breaking this lesson down into parts. To keep these techniques in mind, print out this page and put it right next to your Stairway To Heaven tabs.

How to Erect Scaffolding

Scaffolding is commonly used to provide a platform for workers to complete necessary construction projects. The scaffold is more useful than the ladder as it is able to hold numerous workers, provide extra space for required materials, and is far more secure than a ladder. There are several different forms of scaffolding but the assembly of the pieces is approximately the same for all different types. The following are a series of steps which should be followed:

Step # 1

The first step when you erect scaffolding is to make sure that the area is appropriate for the scaffolding. You should make sure that the ground is level and that there is no moisture which may cause the scaffolding to slip or obstacles which might interfere with the structure.

Step # 2

Place foot pads that are one square foot under the feet of the scaffolding, particularly when the ground is sandy and soft. This is a better choice than plywood, which is not as stable when the ground is not level. It is also possible to use leveling pads as well as casters.

Step # 3

Make sure that you have someone available to help you to erect scaffolding. One individual can work on building the frame while another can hold and pass the required materials. The person who is actually working and assembling the scaffolding should always make sure to wear a harness in order to remain safe at all times.

Step # 4

Before you erect scaffolding, inspect the pieces to make sure that they are not damaged. You should never use parts that are misshapen, rusted, or damaged. The scaffolding needs to be secured to nearby structures. Double check the components that are used to secure the scaffolding parts so that you are sure that they will withhold any strain placed on them.

Step # 5

When trying to reach elevated sections, use ladders which have been secured. These ladders can be useful when connecting scaffolding platforms. If the scaffold will be used for long periods, a stairway would probably be best.

Step # 6

Ensure that the scaffolding is secure by using diagonal bracing which make the sections tighter. When you erect scaffolding, using piping and tensioned rope may be helpful.

Step # 7

When assembling the required scaffolding, add scaffold platforms by utilizing two inch planks or two pieces of plywood that are cut into one inch sheets. When placing materials on the platforms, you should always take particular care so that the decks and platforms do not become overloaded with equipment and materials.

How To Fit Laminate Flooring

If you're set on fitting laminate flooring in your home, but are not quite confident enough to do it yourself, fear not! Here are some handy tips to help provide an overview of the stages involved, which will hopefully make the task seem much more manageable.

First of all, be sure to choose you measure out the space where you plan to fit the laminate flooring. It is always a good idea to purchase about 10 percent extra laminate boards than you think you'll need, just in case you've made a mistake in measuring, or some of the boards get damaged during the installation. Most quality tile and wood flooring specialists will refund any products you have not used if they are still in their packaging. To calculate the amount of laminate flooring you'll need to purchase, measure the length and width of your room in meters, and multiply the two numbers together to give you the amount of m2 you need to cover. Most packs of laminate will tell you how many m2 is in each pack, which is great. Always make sure you double-check your measurements, never take just one set of measurements. If you have a particularly awkward shaped space to measure up, a useful method is to split the room up into smaller squares / sections, and then add the m2 together at the end.

Ensure you leave your laminate flooring lying flat in the room you are going to install it at at least 48 hours before you begin fitting. This is to allow the laminate to acclimatise to the room temperature, and to do any expanding or shrinking that it may do in the new environment. Then make sure you clean and hoover the surface you are going to lay the laminate flooring onto. Before you begin laying the laminate flooring, be sure to install a quality underlay to help with padding the surface, reducing noise from walking on the boards, and also to help with damp-proofing (particularly if you are laying onto a concrete floor).

The first step to fitting your laminate flooring is to achieve a 'master row'. A master row is the first line of laminate boards stretching across the widest edge of your room. By including the master row provides a straight line, you can safely begin adding the rest of the boards to this row. To create a master row, you lay out a line of laminate boards along one edge of your space, and then using spacers, you pad out the side of the boards touching the wall to create a nice even, straight line on the edge of the boards farthest away from the wall. Just one last thing to consider before you get going – make sure you take any inward opening doors off the hinge, or make sure there is enough clearance under the door that it will still open after you have laid the floor – the last thing you want is to trap yourself in the room while you're laying the laminate!

Now that you've started laying your laminate flooring you will unduly find that you need to cut some of your boards when you reach the far side, or the top or bottom side of the room. The best tool for the job is a laminate cutter, which is purpose-built to give a quick, easy, clean cut to your laminate, without creating the mess of using a hacksaw. As you proceed through the laying, make use of beater blocks, and pulling bars along with a hammer, to encourage the boards to sit neatly and form a good lock together. A beating block is a buffer between your board and your hammer, to prevent damage to the board, and a pulling bar is a useful tool when you reach a wall, and there is no room to hammer a board in place; instead you insert the pulling bar into the gap between your laminate flooring and the wall, and then hammer the vertical lip of the bar to encourage the board in place.

After you've laid your laminate flooring, you will need to apply some finishing touches to make the job a quality one. There will most likely be a small gap between your laminate boards, and your skirting board, as well as a gap between the boards and any doorways in the room. For filling the gap between the boards and the skirting, you can choose from a wide range of skoshers or quadrants to compliment the color and tone of your laminate flooring. For doorway, you can use a transition bar, which again is available in different forms to suit the profile and type of doorway and flooring you are using. For help and advice, why not contact a tile and wood flooring specialist who should be happy to assist you.

Hopefully this brief guide has given you a good overview of the stages involved in fitting laminate flooring, so that it no longer feels like such a daunting task!

Lacquerware Of Thailand

The art of making lacquer originally came to Thailand from China. However, over the centuries, the designs and techniques in making lacquerware have become distinctively Thai, and lacquerware handicrafts is booming industry in Thailand. Lacquerware is made in Chiang Mai, the northern province of Thailand.

The art of lacquerware takes a lot of patience and time. It begins with a fine woven bamboo basket or wood that has been carved or shaped on a lathe. First a basic coating material known as Samuk is applied to basketry or wood. Samuk is nothing but ashes of burnt rice paddy husks or ground clay mixed with black lacquer. Black lacquer is obtained from a tree which grows only in the northern hills of Thailand. When the coating dries, it is polished with soap stone and another coating is applied. This process is repeated several times till the lacquer becomes durable on the basket or wood. Finally, the object is polished with a wallpaper-like leaf called the bai-nod.

After this, the object is covered several times with just black lacquer. The coating of black lacquer is then polished with water and powdered fired clay. It is this last polish which gives the lacquerware of Thailand its unique glistening sheen.

Designs are then made on the object using two distinct methods. One is lai kud while the other is called lai rot nam. If the object is to be in color, the lai kud method is used. Lai rot nam method is only used for gold designs. Once the designs are done, they stand out beautifully against the black glossy background.

Maintain Air Conditioner Efficiency and Slash Your Energy Bills

When temperatures start heating up, Americans stay cool by turning on their air conditioners. According to a recent national survey commissioned by Emerson Climate Technologies, 73 degrees is the thermostat setting of choice "during daytime hours on the hottest days of the year." This level of cooling comes at a cost. Keeping your thermostat slightly lower, at 72 degrees, your air conditioner can be responsible for up to 95% of your total energy bill according to the Con Edison Energy Company of New York.

When you understand the impact your air conditioner can have on your monthly utility bill it's easy to see the benefits of routine maintenance. By maintaining your AC unit, and it's related elements you can guarantee your air conditioner works efficiently through it's life.

Helpful Tips For Maintaining Your Air Conditioner

  • Clean Your Air Conditioner. Any debris that impedes air flow around your air conditioner can force it to work harder. Try to thoroughly clean the area around your air conditioner at least annually.
  • Clean Your Air Conditioner Filters (and Replace As Needed). You should check your air conditioner filters monthly. Clean or replace as needed. Build-up on your filters can restrict air-flow.
  • Check For Leaks. Leaky or uninsulated ducts can lose as much as 30-40% of your cooling energy.
  • Avoid "Over-Working" Your Air Conditioner. In certain conditions your AC unit may automatically shut-down, in worse conditions it may even fail. In cases like this it's best to give your AC unit at least five to ten minutes to cool off before you attempt to restart it.

Even if you are part of the over 30% of homeowners that have not had their central air conditioner inspected or serviced by a professional contractor in the past year you can still follow these simple tips to improve the efficiency of your air conditioner. Proper maintenance can ensure your AC unit is running efficiently and reduce your monthly energy bills. Reducing your energy consumption can graciously help more than your wallet, it helps the environment too.

Ethos, Pathos, Logos: 3 Pillars of Public Speaking

The concepts of ethos, pathos and logos were enumerated first by Aristotle in his work “The Art of Rhetoric” in the 4th century BC. These are regarded as the 3 foundation stones of public speaking. These will make you a persuasive public speaker if you are aware of the secret of using them effectively. The time-honored treatise of Aristotle has everything to do in the 21st century when public speakers try and motivate their audiences with Aristotelian principles.

Ethos refers to the character or credibility of the speaker

Pathos their emotional contact with the audience, and

Logos, the aspect of logical argument

These are the 3 unique persuasive appeals – essential attributes the presentation or speech should have to make the audiences accept your message.

Origin of Ethos, Pathos and Logos in Public Speaking

Aristotle put down his thoughts on the art of rhetoric by classifying them into 3 basic persuasive appeals. Masters of public speaking regard Aristotle’s work as a seminal achievement in the field of making public presentations. Editors of the work believe it to be the most significant work ever to be written on persuasion. This is tough to contradict as most of the advice in modern books can be traced back to Aristotelian roots.

Ethos: This segment of the work believes that if you are to sound persuasive, you need to appear credible before the audience. You can build credibility in public speaking in various ways:

The audience should respect you

They should believe that you have a good character

They must have faith in you

They should believe that you have authority over your topic

However, it is not merely enough to know that you are a credible source of information, as public speaking has nothing to do directly with you confidence levels, expertise or experience. The groundwork for credibility is laid by ethos as your audience perceives it.

Pathos: Pathos is the attribute of making a presentation persuasive as it appeals to the emotions that your audiences have. You must ensure that your speech evokes feelings of fear, love or sympathy. The visuals that you present in public speaking should reflect envy or compassion. Finally, the characterization of the competition should generate feelings of contempt or hate.

Create emotional credibility through various ways, one of the most notable of which is through storytelling. The aim of making use of a simile, metaphor, story, analogy or anecdote is to relate the primary message with a stimulated emotional response from the audience.

Logos: Logos in simple terms refers to logical arguments. What you as the public speaker need to address is whether your message makes sense, if it is based on statistics, facts or evidence and whether your call to action leads to the desired outcome that you have promised. Hence, it can be said that logos is critical to the success of public speaking so that you can construct a reasoned and logical argument.

Analyzing the Importance of Ethos, Pathos and Logos

If you have two speakers offering speeches regarding a new strategy in corporate restructuring, the speech of the first speaker, a high school student, is one that has flawless pitching that is logically accurate and at the same time stirs emotions; the second speech is by a Fortune 500 CEO that is boring in terms of their speech pitching.

It would be hard to tell which one is more persuasive in public speaking. Some would choose the CEO since he has more ethos or credibility.

According to a few people, pathos is critical of all others. Some scholars are of the opinion that some people build on pathos or emotion and justify with logos or the facts.

In the opinion of Aristotle however, logos or fact should be most importantly considered among all the persuasive appeals. As a mastermind of philosophy and logical reasoning, he regarded logos as the most important of the rest as it required persuasive appeal. Hence, if you demonstrate logos, you do not need ethos and pathos.

While Aristotle may have regarded logos as paramount, he also mentioned that ‘logos’ is not merely enough. Logos should not be individually regarded, but its importance cannot be undermined by the other two pillars. Therefore, all of the 3 components are equally important.

The reputation and character of the speaker plays an important role in making a point in public speaking. If you are to motivate the audience into action by appealing to their audiences, you should consider their pathos. Impeccable ‘logos’ is equally important as the argument should be based on evidence. Successful individuals are comfortable standing before a crowd and orate impromptu because they have confidence in themselves and can channel the motivation of the audience towards a particular direction which is positive for themselves and for society.

Rug Cleaning

Rug cleaning is important if you want to keep your carpeting clean and looking new through your home. It is well known that mites, dust particles and all sorts of other critters gather in the fibers of carpeting. Knowing this should leave no doubt in your mind that in order to keep your rugs clean you need to clean them regularly. The reason germs and micro organisms gather and plant themselves in carpeting so easily is that they are brought into the home on your shoes from outside. These tiny little germs and organisms that are to small to be seen by the naked eye are there and can affect your health, breathing and cause you to have allergies.

It is important for you to perform rug cleaning once very couple of months. Especialially steam cleaning your carpeting. You may even want to consider to pay a professional to clean your carpeting for you once in a while. A professional rug cleaner has access to industrial strength antibacterial cleaning agents that will thoroughly dry your rugs. These cleaning products will also sanitize your rug when done by a professional. The equipment used by professional carpet steam cleaning companies is much stronger and able to clean deeper than those you can by in the stores to steam you carpets yourself.

Last but not least the most important reason to not handle your own rug cleaning is because there are so many cleaning machines and products on the market it is difficult for those not educated in the best items to use to find the products that will clean your carpets as well as a professional. There are foam cleaners that claim to work their way through the fibers but all you are doing is spraying it on the carpet, letting it sit for a spell and then using a clean damp sponge mop to clean it up. If you think about it how clean can this carpeting really be? It is just cleaning the surface dirt, there is no way this particular cleaner is working its way down through the fibers and killing the germs and micro organizations deep down in the padding and fibers of the carpeting. Keep our rugs looking fresh and new, follow manufacture care instructions and have them steam cleaned professionally every few months. You will even find that your family stays a lot healthier if the carpets are kept as clean as possible.

WoW Professions Guides – Tailoring 1-450

This tailoring guide will show you how to get your tailoring skill up from tailoring 1-450. The tailoring guide will only use recipe's available at a tailoring trainer until tailoring 275 and vendor available tailoring recipe from tailoring 275 to 450.

This tailoring guide only uses tailoring recipes that require cloth and vendor bought material (thread, dye). The only exceptions are the vendor bought tailoring recipe's to get to tailoring 300 which require rugged leather. The leather needed is easily acquired through skinning or the auction house.

This guide does not tell you how to get all the different tailoring recipe from quests, vendors or drops

You are going to need a lot of linen and wool cloth and huge amounts of silk, mageweave and runecloth. Create an alt storage character to store these depths of cloth and then farm (or have an alt farm) for the cloth needed. Use the in game mail system to send the cloth to the storage character. You may need more than one storage character. Do not forget to send some gold to the storage character, so she can send the cloth back.

Once you have all the components collected, everything has to be send back to your main character. The mailbox only shows the first 50 items you have in the mail. It also puts the last item send to you on top. So to avoid complications send the components you need first last: ie the linen cloth are needed first, so these are the last to be send back to your main, after the wool, silk, etc.

Is Autofellatio Easier to Perform Than Most People Realize?

Autofellatio is the act where a man performs oral sex on himself. There is a similar circumstance in women which is called autocunnilingus. Most men have tried to perform this at least once in their lifetimes. Some were successful, while other men were not.

Certainly having a lengthy penis would make such acts easier to perform. Ron Jeremy is an adult film star who has made hundreds of adult movies over the years. Some of his earlier scenes showed him performing auto-fellatio. Being rather largely endowed, this certainly helped him master self-fellatio. In fact, he’s a bit famous for having done so.

So, is auto-fellatio so hard to perform? The answer is “yes” and “no.” If one is not in proper physical shape it will be difficult to perform. If a man is in proper physical condition, it is not hard to master.

The problem is that as human beings have “evolved,” we have become less active and dynamic in our physical activities. Why walk to the store when one can drive? Why wash your clothes, in the sink, by hand, when you can have a machine do it for you? Why cut your own lawn? Isn’t that something you pay the landscaper to do?

The truth is that humans are becoming increasingly less active. This leads to not only weight gain, but to joint problems, and poor postural biomechanics. The remedy for some it to visit the gym to burn off those extra calories… But nothing beats being active and dynamic during the entire day.

The joints are especially receptive to activity. None so more than the spinal joints. There is a rule in the body which states, “Use it or lose it.” If you stop using something it will start to atrophy or change its functionability or structure.

For example, do you know what is one of the best things men can do to avoid prostatic cancer? To use the prostate. Put it to work. That’s what men have them for. Start using it either through sexual intercourse or masturbation. Again, use it or lose it. (Zinc is also very helpful in preventing prostatic cancer.)

Joints are especially prone to the use/lose law. One of the main causes of osteoarthritis in the spine is due to lack of use. People sit around all day and do nothing. Most people rarely introduce full range-of-motion into their spines every day. The body then begins to lay down calcific deposits to fuse these joints together. “After all, they don’t seem to be used any longer, so let’s fuse ’em up!” In fact one of the healthiest things a person can do every day is to bend over and touch their toes, extend back as far as possible (from the trunk), rotate the whole body clockwise and anti-clockwise with the feet planted, and flex as far to the left and right as possible. This helps “lubricate” your spine and keeps your spinal column mobile and healthy.

Stress, force, and gravity are essential, too. The more the joints are being used and are active, the stronger they become, just like our muscles. Osteoporosis is a lack of calcium density in bones. One main factor causing osteoporosis is lack of activity.

Staying active is extremely important for our health.

What happens when you break your arm and wear a cast for a few months? The muscles in the arm atrophy because you haven’t used them in two months. That’s why physical therapeutic exercises are needed after wearing a cast, simply to restore motion in any affected joints and to restore muscle and joint strength.

Back to autofellatio: One can easily see how humans being less active will impede their flexibility and movement. Poor posture (from sitting at a desk all day, for example) also affects muscles and joints and ensures that they do not function at 100% efficiency – this means the joints are restricted and the muscles usually have to carry a strain when trying to do their job.

What about our feet? After all, they are the very foundation of our entire body. Does anyone think high heels might affect a person’s feet, ankles, legs, knees, pelvis, or back? How about shoes that are too pointed? Is there a chance that wearing shoes of this nature might have an impact on someone’s feet? How much time each day do you spend walking or standing on a hard surface? Consider carpet to be a hard surface due to the structure underneath it. Man was not designed to stand or walk on such hard surfaces. These surfaces speed up the process of foot, ankle, knee, pelvic, and lower back problems including arthritis.

One other point while we are discussing feet: There are lots of small bones and joints in the feet. Wearing shoes and walking on hard surfaces just jams these bones together. However, walking in sandals on dirt or natural uneven surfaces does what? It helps restore movement in these joints, helps break up knots in the fascia and muscles, stimulates ligaments and tendons, “exercises” your feet, and is truly restorative to your entire body’s health.

A good way to prove this is to have a foot massage performed on you. Now, ask yourself, why does a massage like that feel better than sex? Because your feet have been abused your entire lifetime, most likely. Taking care of them and relaxing them is complete bliss to your feet and you are rewarded with pleasure for taking the time to take care of your feet.

The fact is, we don’t even realize how badly we’ve abused our bodies until we begin to feel pain. However, with our work load, picking up the kids from school, and with no time to visit the doctor, we continually put off having our body examined. After awhile what happens? In most cases you will become immune to those aches and pains and eventually block them out of your mind. You won’t “feel” the pain any longer. The problem is that the cause of the pain is still wreaking havoc on your body, you just don’t have time to “feel” it any longer.

The flexibility needed to perform autofellatio, as you can see, is going to be greatly affected by a lot of these things that were just mentioned. Strangely enough, it never really occurs to people that such things actually do have a large impact on not only normal and natural flexibility, but digestion, stress levels, metabolism, and the list goes on forever.

With proper instruction it’s not difficult to help restore normal flexibility in a person’s spine; that is, in most cases. The goal is to learn and perform stretches and techniques that will help bring the body back to its intended purpose and function. Helping restore a person’s body to its intended abilities is extremely helpful in increasing flexibility to perform auto fellatio or auto cunnilingus.

If we can just bring our abused bodies back to “normal,” this will help show people that performing autofellatio is easier than most think.

Men and women who are interested in exploring autofellatio and what it takes to be able to autofellate are recommended a book on the subject. The book is entitled YOGAFELLATIO.
