Brazilian Butt Lift Jeans – Real Or a Gimmick?

If you’re looking to enhance your look in jeans, you’ve probably come across advertisements or heard from word of mouth about butt lift jeans. Women’s bodies come in all shapes and sizes – and even the definition of what constitutes “curvy” is up for debate. Some curvy women have the classic hourglass shape, some have small waists and big hips with an average sized butt, some have big thighs and butt, while others fall somewhere in between. No matter what type of “curvy” figure you have – or if you’re not exactly voluptuous, but sure would like to appear that way, you’re probably really intrigued by the promise of a more shapely figure.

Brazilian butt lift jeans are designed to enhance the shapely figure you already have. One small tidbit is that not all Brazilian jeans are made in Brazil, but rather it is more about the actual cut and style of the jean than which country they were manufactured. Whether you already have an ample booty and want to accentuate your assets or you’re in search of a shapelier derriere, these jeans are sure to please. So you may have been wondering how do butt lift jeans work? Let’s explore the answer!

The Science of Brazilian Butt Lift Jeans

Compared to your traditional “American” jeans, these are outfitted with a bit more spandex, and designed to hug your curves. What you will first notice is that most of the models in advertisements have butts that look round, full, and perky. You may think that they have been simply blessed with a hot body, but the actual design of these jeans goes a long way towards accentuating curvy figures.

Brazilian butt lift jeans are typically made with special hidden panels in the fabric which flatten the tummy. Special stitching is used along the sides for a visual lifting effect noticeable to the naked eye. The wash of the denim features subtle fading that serve to visually enhance and create the appearance of a round, high, perky booty. The way the jeans are cut make a difference in your appearance as well – straight leg jeans give the appearance of long, lean, slender legs, no matter what your height. Some of the Brazilian jeans are very low cut, but if this style is not your cup of tea, be on the lookout for those with regular rise that falls just below the navel.

You’re probably pretty unlikely to run across these jeans locally, unless you live in an area that is highly concentrated with trendy boutiques, or areas of the country with a high Hispanic population that are familiar with these jeans. Instead, you can shop online. Many of these styles are available at affordable prices from small boutiques with online shops on the Amazon marketplace.

Hot Stamping – Understanding the Process and Its Benefits

The concept of stamping services revolves upon the use of dies or punches in order to create three-dimensional outputs. At times, it also extends to providing definition to a surface. Examples of which are flat sheets or letterings. The stamping process may be applicable not only to ferrous and nonferrous metals but also to alloys and thermoplastics. What then is the concept known as hot stamping?

Hot stamping is one of the types of stamping services. As a process, it is defined as the method of transferring an engraved image to a particular surface. Heating is an essential part of the process because it makes the transfer possible. With the aid of a stamping die, the image is heated before it is transferred to what is called a marking foil. The marking foil on the other hand, leaves the ink on the surface where the image is being transferred.

Benefits of this stamping process

When compared to other stamping services, hot stamping is favored because of several advantages. It is flexible, meaning it can be used in any type of material including plastics. Products such as paper, pencils and stamping wire insulations are but a few of the outputs of the process.

Furthermore, the process is valuable because it is more of a dry method. There is no need to learn about complicated procedures like mixing inks just to produce the output from the procedure. The machine can be operated manually without much complex interventions needed.

What one actually needs to do is to attach the die to the plate. The foil simply needs to be loaded to the heated plate. Then, a part of the fixture should be left popping out. This makes the process more of a permanent one. With this, the output is said to be capable of adapting to even the harshest of conditions. Using a metal die in the process will allow for branding, meaning, if the color ever fades out, the brand name will remain on the plastic.

How are images created?

This stamping process can create a wide array of images from different materials. Metal dies from copper, brass, hardened steel or magnesium is the first technique. Comparing all these four materials for metal dies, magnesium is said to be the least expensive but also the least in terms of durability. Hardened steel is the most expensive but is favored because of its extreme durability.

Silicone rubber dies are also used in the hot stamping process. This material is further subcategorized according to hardness. They are simply favorable with images that are not flat however they are not as firm as the metal dies.

Advantages of Copper Wires Over the Iron Wires

Copper wires are the most preferred choice for electrical wiring, main reason being the high electrical conductivity of this metal. High conductivity of copper allows easy passage of electricity through it without being much heated up. These wires are the raw material for Cable Industries for manufacturing different types of wires. Some of the electrical power cable drawn from copper include, tinsel wire, submersible winding wire, copper strip, special cable and control cable to name a few. In addition to this copper is also use in manufacturing several other instruments as well as machines.

The other metal used in manufacturing power cable is iron. PVC coated wire and PVC Insulated wire drawn from this metal are the most popular plastic for the coating of electrical wires. It is relatively more fire retardant low in resilient, price and also possesses excellent insulating properties.

Wires drawn from these metals have become the most popular metal for both the residential as well as commercial wiring. Some of the features of copper that gives it an upper edge over the other metals is that they are highly flexible and are known to have high resistant against metal exhaustion. Durability and malleability of this metal make it possible to draw them into any shape and size in a very convenient manner. Moreover the durability aids copper wire to stand to any climatic condition ranging from high heat to extreme cold.

Braided wire is largely used as flexible connector in electric appliance, storage batteries and electric stove. They are made up of super quality round copper wire composed of tinned flexible copper wire which is braided in to multiple-thread. The DC electrical resistivity braided copper wire is comparatively low. Copper strip are used in automatic machines for enhancing the production and reducing wastage of electricity moreover they are resistant to corrosion. Copper strip manufacturer facilitates customized strips in accordance to the customer’s demands and specifications. Bare copper strip are further useful as a raw materials for various industries, they are best suitable for the places having high salt content in the soil.

Different forms of electrical power cable drawn from copper and iron are very popular for power distribution. Among them PVC coated wire, braided copper wires are low voltage electrical wires and are made by wrapping many copper foil strands or by doing plastic coating around the textile core. Copper wire in India is largely available in different sizes and forms owing to the increased demand. Significance of copper has been proven across the world as the wires drawn from this metal are been largely used for both the residential as well as commercial electrical appliances. With the increased demand of copper wires the number of copper wire suppliers has significantly increased across the globe.

Serve bobotie with yellow rice and raisins. Side dishes that go great with bobotie and yellow rice are vegetables like green beans and sweet potato, or try potato salad.

Furniture Restoration: Gilt, Ormolu And Painted

Gilding is the fixing of gold leaf to a prepared surface and rubbing it into place. Gold leaf will not tarnish: it lasts for years, giving a true gold look to any wood, metal or plaster base. The lavish and decadent lives of yester year found the need to have almost every piece of furniture that they owned gilded, really evident in the 17th and 18th centuries across the globe. Today these fine pieces still have the same allure, but for totally different reasons – being antiques.

Old gold leaf antiques can be cleaned with water containing a few drops of ammonia. New gold leaf can be bought in plain sheets, or in transfers that have a tissue backing. The transfer sheets are much easier to use than the plain sheets. When applying gold leaf to a restored area, make sure that the surface is clean and dry. Paint the base with Japan gold size and leave it to get ‘tacky’. Lay the sheets in place, slightly overlapping at the edges; rub them down carefully, following the direction of the overlap, with a clean cotton cloth until the edges blend evenly together. The knack is to lay the sheets on the surface when the size has reached the correct degree of ‘tackiness’. If the size is too wet, the leaf crinkles; if it is too dry, the leaf will not stick.

Today the value of antiques will depend on whether pure gold leaf was used or wax gild, as was common practise to reduce the cost of making a fine piece of furniture. The other popular alternative, gold paint, although simple to apply, produces a rather garish finish and lacks depth. Wax gilts, available at most art shops these days, come in many tones of gold. They are ideal for touching-up damaged of gold leaf and for applying a broken gilt surface over white or coloured paint. They are simple to apply, ensuring that even most unskilful restorer can restore their prize antique piece. Wax guilt can easily be removed with turpentine substitute, so a good idea is to protect it with a covering of clear alcohol-based varnish. Another alternative is liquid leaf, again easy to apply. It can be brushed on, or drawn on with a pen. It is brighter than gold leaf and does not have the same ‘antique’ finish as wax guilt, hence larger areas may not have the desired effect especially when restoring your antique piece.

Ormolu is bronze, cast into decorative shapes that are gilded with gold leaf and attached to parts of furniture. A form of decoration that was developed from ormolu is brass alloy, with the same appearance as gold. The surface of ormolu often becomes tarnished because the brass sweats through the gilding. Clean it by brushing the surface gently with soap and warm water containing a few drops of ammonia. To remove any obstinate dirt from the surface, add more ammonia. Always wear rubber gloves for this work.

To restore faded or damaged antique pieces of painted furniture, scrape the paint down to the surface and fill any deep scratches or holes with plastic wood, or Polymer texturing paste. Rub the area with fine glass-paper and repaint, using matching artists’ oil colours. To achieve a matt finish, only use undercoat paint; cover it when dry with a good-quality matt varnish. Small areas of old paint texture can be matched by using white undercoat as a base. Apply matching colours with artists’ oil paint, which should always be a tone lighter than the original. When the paint dries, it should match the original tones. A varnish may be applied; however, it is best to varnish the entire area rather than the retouched area. This will give an overall even texture to your antique piece. New gloss may be a bit too shiny when dry; if so, rubbing it down gently with steel wool will give it that aged antique look.

Review of Barrington Fiberglass Entry Doors by Masonite

Builders, remodelers and homeowners are constantly looking for the best construction materials to use in houses, with durability, attractiveness and longevity in mind. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you would hate for your residential sanctuary to fall apart faster than it took to come together. The front door, the first most noticeable part of a house, is also sadly one of the most overused and overexposed. This has been a sore point for wood, which is prone to rotting, warping, folding and splitting. Door makers are now playing cat and mouse over fiberglass and composite material, which can withstand shifting weather conditions and daily wear and tear. Barrington fiberglass entry doors, the premium product collection by a long-time door manufacturer, Masonite, are among top rated examples of smarter alternatives to wooden exterior doors.

Upon review, what is emerging as the most attractive quality of Barrington doors is that they emulate authentic wood doors. Wood had been favored as the surface material for doors, with good reason. It exhibits the kind of timeless craftsmanship that you have come to love about traditional doors. Barrington fiberglass entry doors have been given a wood grain surface made to resemble the real hardwood doors of old. In a choice of oak or mahogany texture, this variable-depth wood grain finish shows how present-day technology can closet itself in a neat classic package. A second stand-out quality of Barrington doors is their customized make. Fiberglass doors typically use generic glass inserts but the Barrington line uses proprietary decorative glass in an array of designs, which has been factory-glazed using custom glazing ingredients so that it is wider, with narrower stiles and rails. Custom glass frames have been designed to align correctly with the panel.

In this vein, composite material that resists rotting has been used for the bottom rail while hinge and lock stiles have been engineered with laminated lumber. A raised moulding has been integrated into the door facing to come as a singular piece, not like plant-on appliques break apart from the door. All Barrington doors have a square-edge design and a reinforced lock area to make a solid mounting surface.

While less meticulous door makers have been on fire for functional but none too fetching products, the Barrington brand has not neglected beauty. This is evident not only in the likeness to traditional hardwood doors but also in designs intended to cater creatively to the high-end market. The Sierra series of Barrington fiberglass doors coordinates with Southwest, Spanish or Mediterranean motifs. It features the first ever non-glazed, opaque finish on a Barrington door. It has a 2-panel camber top design and custom panel profile, with options of planks and matching full sideline panels. The Craftsman series is fashioned after mission or craftsman architecture. Three recessed panels and a one-lite glazing system are its other elements, with the option of a matching one-panel, one-lite sidelite panel.

Shoppers are quick to forget considering the company behind the brand, which especially matters when buying a product that is expected to work well or last long. In this case, Barrington fiberglass entry doors as well as interior doors and patio doors are backed by the trusted name of Masonite, based out of Tampa, Florida. For a bit of history, founder William Mason was a researcher, engineer and inventor who had innovated the use of wood for the creation of building materials in 1924. Masonite has since been manufacturing doors and building products for over 80 years, and has one of the largest research and development centers for steel, composite, fiberglass and wood doors.

Positive Thinking – Your 7 Step Action Plan

Maybe when you think of positive thinking, you think about the Pollyanna kind of positive thinking where you put a positive spin on everything, regardless of the situation and no matter how bad it is.

That’s not the kind of positive thinking I’m talking about. Positive thinking, as defined by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, is more about a change of attitude. It’s about taking your situation and looking for the “seed” of change that can allow you to turn the situation around.

I’m sure you have a lot of dreams, ideas, and goals for your life. We all have things we want to change and want to achieve. Your first step here should be a change of attitude. With a change of attitude, then you need to translate your goals into something quantifiable. A goal is no good unless it’s something definite. Then, it’s time to take action.

Now, if you want to change your attitude, you’ll need to change the way you think. Below are seven tips you can use to change the way you think and find those “seeds” of solution in your life. Positive thinking can help you see solutions you might otherwise not have considered.

1. Stop talking about your problems, dreams, and goals. Write them down. Look for the seed of change within your problem and see if you can use this to solve your problem. You need to believe that you can change. You need to believe that you can grow and become better.

2. Commit yourself to thinking about the life you actually want. Can you visualize in detail your new life? The more clearly you can see exactly what you want, the easier it will be to visualize the steps you need to take to achieve what you want. Again, this is about belief.

This should include thinking about your life from different perspectives. You may want to change your financial situation, but what about your health, your relationships, your spiritual life? You really need to consider these things too when visualizing your ideal life.

Norman Vincent Peale always said, “Believe, achieve, receive.” It’s really that simple.

3. Remember that you will only be in this particular moment in time one time. You will never have this moment again because each moment in your life is different. Savor each moment. Get the most out of each moment of your life.

It’s been said that “life is too short.” It really is. Get a grip on your time and learn how to manage it effectively. Don’t waste your time on thoughts that will diminish your opportunity to be everything you want to be. What I mean by this is don’t waste your time dwelling on anger, hatred, revenge, or the past. These things only hold you back, and it’s unnecessary baggage you simply don’t need.

4. Exercise gratitude. Be grateful for every good thing in your life. The truth is, if you dwell on negative things, you will only attract more negative things. In my life I’ve noticed that when my thinking is negative, it shuts down the opportunity to find the solution to a problem. If you’re a writer, like me, then it can certainly effect your ability to get new ideas, as well as write. Stay positive. You will certainly see a difference in what you can accomplish.

5. Don’t waste your time dwelling on the past. We can all do this Shoulda/Coulda/Woulda mode where we regret how we handled a situation or didn’t take action when we should have.

The problem here is that you can’t change the past. Occasionally you might be able to change the situation. More often than not though, it isn’t possible. Better to move on and quit beating yourself up. Live in the now because the now is all you have. Make it the best now you can.

6. Keep a sense of humor. It’s been estimated that about seven out of 10 American adults are angry about something. Anger, in the right situation is actually a positive emotion. It can help us see where we’re going wrong in our lives. It’s not anger that’s the problem; it’s how we deal with it.

Deal with your anger in a positive way. Solve the problem because anger will only turn to resentment if you don’t deal with it. In the long run, unresolved anger will only hold you back. Why not just deal with it and get rid of it?

7. Believe that you can change your life. Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

Positive belief is crucial. Otherwise, when you finally do get what you want in life, you won’t be happy with it. In fact, you won’t be happy at all. Get honest, get rid of your baggage, and live honestly. You can’t take the next step, which is action, if you’re not honest about why you want what you want. If you want to enjoy what you receive, and be happy, then you need to be honest about your reasons for wanting something.

Take that first step towards positive thinking. Change what you believe. Then it will become easier for you to effect lasting change in your life.

Walking in Ballet Heels and Boots – Fetish Footwear

Ballet Heels & Boots are NOT Ballet flats they are a fetish footwear designed to force the wearers foot en pointe.

These shoes are designated as “Fetish Footwear” for a reason, if you are not already capable of positioning your foot in the en pointe position, they can be exceedingly uncomfortable to wear, even while sitting.

Don’t despair, if you want to wear Ballet Heels or have been instructed to do so, with practice & perseverance you can accomplish what at first seems impossible.

Before you even try to walk in Ballet Heels you need to feel comfortable wearing them so we need to analyze just what makes them so painful to wear.

En Pointe Position

Your foots naturally position is parallel to the floor when standing, however the en pointe position is at ninety degrees to the floor forcing the foots instep in-line with your calf. This position is simply unnatural & unless you are exceedingly limber or an accomplished ballerina it can be very painful.

To train your mussels to accept extended periods in this position, ankle & calf muscle strengthening exercises should be performed. A simple exercise for strengthening the necessary muscles is to stand on the balls of your feet with your heels hanging over the edge of a step.

Place all your weight on one leg & slowly lower your heel as far as you can, then raise up on the ball of your foot as high as possible and hold for 10seconds. Do this 10 times per foot & repeat 3 times totaling 30 stretches each session.

You will soon find your capable of raising higher & holding longer.

Toe Pressure

Once you are comfortable just wearing Ballet heels you are obviously going to try to stand in them, with that comes toe pain! Unfortunately there aren’t any exercises you can perform to prepare you for this but you can try using lamb’s wool toe pads to relieve some of the pressure on your toes.

Choosing the right Ballet Heels for you

TIGHT! – When choosing a shoe size you are far better to go tight, this will prevent your foot from slipping forward & putting more pressure on your toes. For your first ballet heels I would recommend ballet boots in preference to shoes, the extra support you will get with the boot will help greatly when you try to walk.

Learning to Walk in Ballet Heels

Once you are comfortable with your foot extended en pointe, you can then try to put some weight on your feet. If you have never stood on your toes before then you should introduce your weight gradually. By far the simplest & best way to get started walking in ballet heels is to use crutches.

It may not be glamorous but by using crutches to reduce the weight on your feet & provide additional balance you can get accustomed to the feel of the heels at your own pace.

Practise your muscle exercises & balancing with the aid of crutches daily until you feel comfortable standing on your own.

Walking in Ballet Heels

Once you are comfortable bearing your own weight it’s time to take a few steps, but first you must understand what you are wearing..

The function of the stiletto heel is not to help you balance but to force you to stand on your toes, so stand & walk on your toes not on your heels.

With the aid of a hand rail or wall for balance take a few steps trying to place your foot, toe to heel, not heel to toe. It will feel totally unnatural & you will constantly think you are going to fall forward however you cannot lean back because the heel will prevent it, so use the wall for balance until you build up your confidence.

By practicing daily for short periods building up your muscles, balance & confidence & you will soon be walking in your ballet heels or boots without any assistance.

Point of View – Choosing the Best Point of View for Fantasy Fiction Writing

Point of View in Fantasy Fiction

If you want readers to keep reading your book, point of view must be carefully considered. It is especially important in fantasy fiction writing. Why? The point of view from which you choose to tell your story sets the overall tone for the book. It gives the reader a vantage point from which to view the entire story as it unfolds.

Choose the wrong point of view and the reader may feel like they are missing out on something, or that they are not connecting with the book’s characters. Flop around between different points of views and the reader will become confused.

At this point, you’ve lost them in the first few pages.

There are simply too many fantasy fiction books out there. Self-published books now account for 75% of the overall market. According to Bowker.com-the world’s leading provider of bibliographic information and management solutions-self-published titles have grown 287% since 2006, resulting in a whopping 250,00 new print and e-titles in 2012. What was once a cottage industry is now the norm.

What does this mean to you? Well, it means you better make sure you have all your ducks in a row, and that your writing is the absolute best it can be to compete. There are a lot of things to consider, and I’ll be discussing this in future articles. For now, let’s begin by discussing the three most popular points of view: first person, third person omniscient, and third person limited.

First Person Point of View

Writing in the first person point of view is limiting. It does not allow the reader to truly “see” the world; it only allows them to be “told” what the world looks like through the recitation of the book’s main character. Does something seem fishy? It should. Remember what all your writing instructors and teachers have told you about show-don’t-tell?

It’s still effective, but after a while it starts to sound like a weather report.

Example:

I looked down the dark dungeon hall. The elf stood beside me. I was scared, but I didn’t want to let him now.

“What do you think that is?” I asked. I heard something breathing.

The elf looked at me and frowned. “I don’t know,” he said.

Don’t let this completely dissuade you. Sometimes, using the first person point of view can work, and work very well. But if you choose only to use this point of view, you will severely limit the reader experience.

When R. A. Salvatore first sat down to tell the tale of a dark elf known as Drizzt Do’Urden, he admittedly struggled with point of view selection. In the initial stories, Drizzt was alone, so using the first person point of view seemed to make sense. But Salvatore soon realized he would not be able to tell the important back story of the dark world of the elves, especially the historical moments that occurred before Drizzt was even born.

Salvatore decided to use both first person and third person limited point of view to tell the story. In this manner, he was able to explore the old heritage of the Underdark, and still show exactly what Drizzt was thinking. He did this by writing the novel in third person limited, but prefacing each chapter with first person journal entries from Drizzt.

Third Person Limited Point of View

Third person limited point of view is when the reader knows only the thoughts and feelings of a single character. The reader is limited to seeing and experiencing the world only through this character.

When I wrote Deomans of Faerel, this is the point of view I chose to use. The third person limited pointof view creates what is known as “distance” in the story. It pulls the reader away to a vantage point that allows them to ride along with the character as if they have become that character. It is arguably the best narrative form to choose when writing fantasy fiction. It also allows you create tension by using dialogue to more appropriately interact.

Example:

Gnoli peered down the dark dungeon hall. The elf moved up beside him, his bow outstretched, hands shaking.

“Ye hear that breathing?” the dwarf asked in a shaking voice. He glanced at his companion, struggling to keep fear from showing on his rugged face. “What do ye think that is?”

The elf frowned and slowly shook his head. “I don’t know,” he said.

Not a whole lot different than first person. But we start to feel what is happening rather than be told. This subtle act creates a powerful sensation for the reader. They are not only there, they are experiencing things as if they are watching a movie, instead of nightly news cast.

Switching Third Person Limited Points of View

The extra benefit to using third person limited point of view is that the writer gets to place the reader inside the heads of more than one character, if they so choose. This works very well to tell different plot lines, and can actually create empathy for villains, which is something you need. (Who wants a villain you can totally hate?)

Using third person limited also allows you to develop other characters, which is great if your fantasy book contains more than one hero. Many do. Using third person limited, the writer is able to flesh out more than one character, creating solid connections. Readers begin to care about the characters: they feel their pains, they experience their anguishes and desires, the root for them and wish them no harm.

When to Switch

If you want to use third person limited to explore storylines of other characters, just make sure you have a clear breaking point in the writing. This works best between chapters. Tell the story through the eyes of one character in the first chapter, then switch to another character in chapter two.

Carefully Switch Point of View

Just be aware of time. When you switch from one character to another, be aware of what the other characters are doing. Is Jack in a boat in the morning in the first chapter? Does he experience something that takes all day, and then it becomes night? If so, when you start the next chapter, you better make sure what happens occurs after the previous night’s events.

Third Person Omniscient

Lastly, let’s talk about third person omniscient. The third person omniscient point of view is a narrative form in which the reader knows all the thoughts, desires and wishes of every single character. In fantasy fiction, this takes away much of the surprise. Using this point of view, you can actually write an entire novel without ever using any dialogue.

Example:

Gnoli peered down the dark dungeon hall. The elf moved up beside him, his bow outstretched, hands shaking. The dwarf heard something breathing down the hall. He wondered what it was, but he tried to keep the fear from his face. The elf had no idea what was down there, and he said so. The dragon down the hall, however, waited patiently for them to approach. Once they came within range, he was going to gobble them up!

See how it’s just kind of… flat? And talk about a spoiler alert! In the previous two examples, we had no idea what the monster was, or what its intentions were. Now we know everything.

This is an extreme example, of course. But when the narrator is just telling you everything that is happening, and all the thoughts and feelings of every single character, including the monsters, the story becomes less interesting.

Beware of Head Jumping

Whichever point of view you choose to employ for your fantasy novel, just make sure you properly block your paragraphs, and what you reveal. If the first chapter is all told from the point of view of Jack, then you can’t include any thoughts from the other characters. Jack may suspect they are thinking certain things, but he can’t know this.

The Perseveration (Getting Stuck) That Comes With Memory Disease

Perseveration is not a symptom of memory disease, it is related behavior. The Alzheimer’s Association defines perseveration as “repetitive movements or persistence in statements or questions.” Caregivers need to understand the cause of perseveration and http://www.alzheimers.org.uk describes it clearly.

According to Alzheimer’s United Kingdom, the frontal lobes of the brain have several parts that work together “to form our executive or management center.” Damage to this area of the brain causes people to “get stuck on what they are doing.”

My mother got stuck on sentences. She would call and announce, “I want to go to the store.” I would tell her we had just been to the store. Though Mom did not remember she would say, “I know, but I need to go again.” I could not take her to the store every time she asked so Mom was often mad at me.

My mother got stuck on purchases. After she was transferred to nursing care I cleaned out her apartment and found a box under a chest of drawers. The box was filled with panty hose — dozens and dozens of pairs — in different shades and sizes. Mom had so many pairs of panty hose she could have opened a store.

Mom got stuck on gestures. When she was in the middle stage of dementia my mother started wiping her eyebrow with her hand. At first, I thought she had something in her eye, but soon recognized this as a repetitive gesture. She would repeat the gesture four or five times in a row.

Mom got stuck on stories. “When we lived on 259th street,” she would begin, and then I would hear the story. I heard the stories so many times it is a wonder I did not join in like a member of a Greek chorus. You understand perseveration is if your loved one has memory disease. You can’t stop the progression of the disease. What can you do?

1. STEP AWAY. Walk away for a minute or two and regain your patience. Remember, you are dealing with someone who has a damaged brain.

2. CHANGE THE SUBJECT. The nursing home my mother was in would divert agitated residents with music or a story.

3. PROVIDE A DRINK/SNACK. People with memory disease may not realize they are thirsty. Offering your loved one a cool drink or a healthy snack may stop his or her perseveration.

4. ADD MOVEMENT. Suggest a short walk around the block or to the end of the hall. Most nursing homes have regular physical activities for residents, such as catching a ball or stretching in place.

5. REASSURE WITH GESTURES. Give the person a hug or a pat on the hand. Do not approach the person from the rear, however, because it could frighten them. You may also comfort the person with a throw or extra sweater. Perseveration can try your patience, but patience and time will get you through these difficult days.

The Rise and Fall of Hip Hop Stars MC Hammer and DMX

The increasing desire for fame and fortune are driving many of today’s young aspiring hip hop artists. Innocent and pure at first, many hip hop artists claim that they do it for the love of the music and not for the fame and money. However, only a handful of them actually pull off this simple task. As one’s fame and fortune rise, these superstars become distracted from their “roots,” the real reason why they are in the business.  Perhaps it was a facade from the start, but we will give them the benefit of the doubt.

This article will provide a quick run down of the rise and fall of two of the best know hip hop rap artist in their time; MC Hammer in the late 1980s to the early 1990s and DMX from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. As the saying goes, “what goes up, must come down.” How fast one comes down and how one comes down from their stardom solely depends on the day-to-day decisions of the artist.

Let’s take a moment to consider…”Stop! Hammer Time!” MC Hammer proves the difference between success and foolishness is a fine line. Hip hop artists are dismissing certain consequences that arise from over spending their quick fortune. They continue to flaunt their fortune by purchasing bling style urban hip hop jewelry and consequently fade out of fame, much like many lottery winners today.

In the 80s, MC Hammer was a music sensation in his prime, arguably rivaling the popularity of the late Michael Jackson. With the release of Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em, MC Hammer realized approximately $33 million in profits. Coupled with further album sales, tours, endorsements, and merchandise, he raked in millions upon millions. Hammer spent $12 million on his home alone. Along with his house, he also purchased 2 helicopters, 17 expensive automobiles, bad investments, and very high-priced antiques.

MC Hammer’s biggest regret was who was around him during his rise to fame. He employed 300 people for a payroll total of half a million dollars per month. Many of his “friends,” or the 300 people who he tried to help out, were only there for his money and fame. In 1996, Hammer filed for bankruptcy. In the late 90s he became a preacher while continuing to release albums that could not replicated his earlier success.

… and then there was X.

DMX went from Ruff Ryder to a proverbial flat tire. Raised in a city just north of New York City, he spent much of his time on the streets committing crimes. DMX found a sanctuary in hip hop music – to escape from his hard knock life. He enjoyed many of the background tools used for rapping such as beatboxing and spinning on turntables. Eventually he began rapping himself.

Though he started rapping in the early 1990s, Earl Simmons aka DMX did not rise to fame until signing to Ruff Ryders Entertainment and Def Jams Recording in 1998 with his double album release, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. DMX became the first artist to ever have 5 albums debut at #1. His popularity began to decline after his 2003 album, Grand Champ, where he announced his retirement. From this point onwards, DMX spent most of his money on drugs and fell deep back down his troublesome ways.

In 2004, DMX was arrested at JFK Airport on charges of cocaine possession, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, menacing, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol while claiming to be a federal agent and attempting to carjack a vehicle. From 2005 to 2008, DMX spent a total of a half a year in prison.

Where are they now?

MC Hammer is a super star in the social networking site, Twitter, ranking in the low 30s with just shy of 1.3 million followers. He continues to produce songs and is living a relatively decent life less expensive hip hop jewelry, exotic cars and large entourages. In 2009, DMX claimed that he would pursue preaching much like MC Hammer. However, after speaking with hip hop artist Mase, he decided to return to rap. He will be planning on releasing his next two albums, Walk with Me Now and You’ll Fly with Me Later in the latter part of 2009 or 2010. This may spark a return of the Ruff Ryers and DMX to widespread popularity.

Although it seems that both artists have turned themselves around after hitting their major lows, it is unfortunate that this cycle of hip hop rise, fame, and crash seems unlikely to be broken anytime soon.

1995 Chevy Truck – How to Remove the Steering Wheel

Any vehicle is subject to wear and tear and so is any part of the vehicle. No matter how expensive and reputed, there is no change to this rule. Same is the case with the steering wheel of the 1995 Chevy Truck. The only way to get out of this problem is to replace the steering wheel with a new one.

Step 1: Disconnect the Negative Terminal

First of all make sure you keep a open wrench handy. This would be useful to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. You will now have to locate the airbag. Leave the vehicle to sit for nearly 30 minutes before you proceed.

Step 2: Pop the Airbag Off the Wheel

For this step, you will have to turn on the ignition of the truck and turn the steering wheel in the clockwise direction. Once you are able to locate the hole behind the steering wheel, use the screwdriver to bring out the airbag from the wheel.

Step 3: Remove the Wiring

You have only partially done your job with the airbag. Next you have to turn the steering wheel of the 1995 Chevy truck anticlockwise. You will have to rotate the wheel for up to 180 degrees in the process. Now the airbag is accessible to you and you can disconnect the wiring harness with ease.

Step 4: Unbolt the Steering Wheel

The next obvious step is to unbolt the center bolt. This is located at the center of the wheel. The puller will have to be driven in using the right ratchet and socket. Tightening the nut lying at the center of the puller will help us pull the steering wheel off the column.

As seen, replacing the wheel is a matter of a few minutes and will require the right tools to come to your rescue. Once done, the frustrating truck will automatically be transformed into a pleasure to drive

Such tasks can be done by the common man and does not require you to depend on the mechanics. The 1995 Chevy truck is one of the sturdy and trusted vehicles and can be brought back to its true form in these few steps.

What to Do If Your Car Engine Is Overheating

The engine is the most expensive and complex component of any standard vehicle. When it begins to overheat, it can be for a number of reasons; including clogged radiator, bad thermostat, low coolant, broken fan belt, broken cooling fan, coolant leak, and more. But the underlying reason behind any overheating engine is due to the vehicle’s cooling system losing its ability to regulate and remove excess heat from the motor. Although an unpleasant predicament to be in, when your car overheats while driving, it’s important to not panic. Continue reading for an instructional guide for safely and efficiently managing an overheating engine on the road.

Managing an Overheated Car Engine

Whether you notice your dashboard’s temperature gauge climbing, or see smoke bellowing from underneath your hood, when an engine begins to overheat, it is critical to stop the vehicle as soon as possible. This means pulling over to the side of the road, shoulder of the interstate, into a parking lot, or neighborhood development. No matter where you are, you must immediately find a place to stop and park.

If you feel like you can make it to the nearest service center, the first thing to do is shut off your AC, open all the windows, and turn ON your heat. This sounds crazy in the summertime (or even the winter opening the windows), but turning on the heat and opening car windows relieves pressure from the engine and can buy you some time to get to an auto repair shop.

Once you are at a stop, whether on the side of the road or a service station, be sure to not open the hood until it stops steaming. This could take up to 30 minutes. If you are at a service station, a technician will handle everything, including this; but if you are by yourself on the road, just be sure to wait before you pop the hood.

Once the car cools down, you can pop the hood and open the radiator cap. Check to see that you have engine coolant and that it is the color it should be (whatever color it is when it’s new). If you notice reddening or odd coloring, then your coolant is dirty and needs replaced. If it is just low, try refilling it with your emergency stash of radiator fluid in the trunk. Everyone should always have radiator fluid and windshield wiper fluid on hand at all times for emergencies.

If you do not have coolant on-hand, simply use water instead. You don’t have either, it is best to contact a local roadside assistance service for help. Then have them transfer your vehicle to the nearest service station for inspections and service.

Towable Tubes – How Do You Hook Them Up

So you have done your homework. You studied all of the ski tubes and finally made your purchase. Excitement is in the air. You can not wait to get on the water with your new toy. Once it arrives, you realize that you have no idea of how to hook this inflatable water toy to your boat. It will leave you scratching your head.

The first thing you are going to need is a tow harness. One end has two hooks that hook easily to your boat transom. The other end has some weird looking plastic piece with a hole in it. I know, it took me a bit to figure this one out and here is what you need to do.

The end of your tow rope should have a closed loop. That closed loop goes through the hole on the tow harness connector. It can be difficult to get this through but do not give up. It will go through.

Once you have it through, you need to take the other end of your tow rope and feed it through that very same loop. Not the hole in the connector but the loop in the tow rope.

Once you have done this, you need to pull the rope tight and it will tighten around itself. This will form a strong sturdy connection.

Now repeat the same process for the ski tube hookup. Once you have tightened the loop around the ski tube connector, you are ready to attach the two metal clips from the tow harness to the boat’s transom!

You are now ready to ride!
