Automated Storage

How to optimise your storage space and increase picking efficiency.

A big problem for a lot of companies is storage space. Large quantities of different sized goods stored on racks or static shelving takes up valuable floor space, and increases operator picking times. In addition a disorganised stores area can lead to errors in picking and poor stock management.

One solution to all the problems above is for companies to invest in Automated storage equipment. Machines such as Storage Carousels and Vertical Lift modules (VLM’s), utilize the height of a building to store goods therefore saving on valuable floor space. As building are sold or rented according to the amount of floor space, this makes financial sense.

Storage Carousels

Vertical Carousels are a storage machine that rotates in a vertical plane. Vertical carousels resemble a ferris wheel in dynamics, the individual shelving modules are kept horizontal as they rotate, demonstrating the principle of “goods to the operator” in a perfect manner

Vertical carousels are suited for consolidating the storage of like sized small parts in a small footprint and lead to high density storage and high accuracy picking.

Vertical Lift Modules

A Storage Lift or VLM (Vertical Lift Module) is a computer or keypad controlled automated vertical lift providing a storage and retrieval system for goods and materials.

Stock within the VLM remains stationery on front and rear tray locations; on request a tray is brought from its location to an access point where an operator picks or replenishes stock and the tray is returned. Both easy to use and efficient, the VLM offers variable tray sizes and loads, which can be fully customised to utilize the available space within your workplace, across multiple floors if necessary.

An innovative solution with the capability for multiple access points combining high speed response and integrated warehouse management software, the VLM can dramatically increase the efficiency of the picking process. The key benefits are:

  • High Speed picking
  • High volume storage
  • Suits products of different sizes
  • The ability to improve the picking process further with multiple software applications

These machines have been in use for over 30 years from a variety of manufacturers including Kardex, Megamat, Hanel and Electroclass.

69 Places For Passion – Lusty Locations to Make Love

When looking to spice up your love life, many couples look for adventurous or novel places to make love. There are certain locations that enable sensual love making while others demand quicker acts of passion. A bedroom is a comfortable place to make love but there are so many exciting and lusty locations to have passionate sex. Whether spontaneous and urgent or planned for fun, sex in new locations can be extremely thrilling.

Creative lovers are always on the look out for opportunities to get wild and frisky. With the right inspiration, every day sex can be transformed into an unforgettable experience. You may have seen other lovemaking location lists but let’s push the envelope and go for at least 69 — always a good number for sex ideas. Remember that for some locations, there are pleasurable sex activities other than intercourse. Oral and manual stimulation can be just as satisfying and more practical in some situations.

  1. Fooling around as passengers in a moving car (back seat while a friend drives, discreetly in a taxi, in a limousine with a privacy screen).
  2. In a parked car during a romantic or exciting event (watching fireworks, admiring a sunrise/sunset, sheltering from a thunderous rain storm).
  3. In a honeymoon suite but not during your Honeymoon. Elegant and fancy or themed for fun, recreate your honeymoon or practice what it would be like.
  4. In a seedy motel. Arrive separately and roleplay an office coworker affair or a prostitute fantasy.
  5. In a high class hotel suite with a panoramic window view — keep the curtains open if you dare.
  6. In a room with at least one hundred candles casting a soft glowing light over your naked bodies while you enjoy sensual pleasuring.
  7. Frosty fornication in a snow fort or igloo you made together is great fun. You can even fashion a special mound to mount on.
  8. On a boat in the open air (not below deck). Consider a canoe, row boat or rubber raft if you don’t have access to a yacht, sail or speed boat with a large deck.
  9. Slick with massage oil wresting on a plastic sheet or in a blowup pool.
  10. In the shower enjoying the sensual, slippery suds and a hand held water massager. Intimate bathing and bonding or hot steamy sex — what ever suits your mood.
  11. In an English garden surrounded by fragrant blossoms. Make it more fun by dressing elegantly and indulge in a sense of aristocratic debauchery.
  12. In a gazebo under the stars, moonlight or noon day sun. Semi outdoor sex as secluded as you dare.
  13. On a king size water bed fitted with satin sheets and lots of fluffy pillows.
  14. In a cool, fast moving stream or small creek. A swirling pool under a water fall is an amazing location if you can find one.
  15. On a swing strong enough for two. Actually swinging together with penetration is tricky, however there are many other fun activities you can do involving a swing.
  16. In a hammock between two palm trees on a secluded ocean front beach.
  17. In a lookout tower or observatory. Finding one that provides a scenic view and opportune privacy will be its own adventure.
  18. Rear entry on a bridge while overlooking the depth below. Even more intense on a swaying rope bridge for added adrenaline rush.
  19. In the stairwell of an apartment or office building — better exercise than taking the elevator. (or on the stairs in you own house)
  20. On the top of a large hill or small mountain under the stars or full moon. Take in the view with a bottle of wine then enjoy each other.
  21. On a train. Either in a rare, vacant car or a private cabin, “playing on the tracks” is a temptation to be tried.
  22. In a van, the back of a pickup truck or on the hood of a sports car.
  23. While skinny dipping at night in a pool, river, lake or ocean. Note that cool water tends to make some bits firmer while others shrink.
  24. In a bath, hot tub or spa. Soak, soothe and sensually stroking each other or stimulate wet and wild sex with invigorating water jets.
  25. On a roof. Outside on the flat top of tall building or (carefully) on a low, slightly sloped roof can be thrilling.
  26. In a field of tall grass or flowers. A secluded, lush green meadow next to a small stream is ideal.
  27. Under a cherry, apple or other fruit tree in full bloom. Enjoy the sensual sights, sounds and smells of Spring whenever you can.
  28. On a pile of pillows. An assortment of shapes, sizes, colors and textures all piled for pleasure. Have a playful pillow fight. Try new positions.
  29. In a barn. A horse stable may bring out the animal in you. The hayloft (on soft straw) can be extremely fun. Roleplay cowboy, stable hand or farmer’s daughter.
  30. Deep in a forest up against a large tree. Agile couples can even try various positions in the tree if the branches are just right.
  31. Outside in the refreshing, cool rain during a hot day or night. Thunder and lightning add to the thrill.
  32. Safely under a sheet metal roof during a hail storm or torrential down pour.
  33. Anywhere under the hot sun with an ice dildo. Make one by freezing a plastic water/pop bottle filled with water and cutting the plastic off.
  34. In a sleeping bag in the open air under a clear sky bright with stars. Go as far away from city lights as possible. Aurora lights will make it even more special.
  35. On a tiny island. Revel in quiet seclusion or spice it up with roleplay. Pretend to be castaways or, for a historic setting, a scout meeting a native first time.
  36. On a beach on the hot, dry sand or right on the shore with the waves lapping up around you. Anywhere you can see and hear huge crashing waves.
  37. In the middle of a sports field or stadium (golf course, soccer, football, rugby, race track, etc.). Most likely best during off season or at night.
  38. In a cave, tunnel or under a bridge. The echoes of your ecstasy or the sounds of traffic overhead can be exciting.
  39. On a trampoline or blowup bouncer. Standing intercourse while jumping may be tricky. An exercise ball will give a similar bouncy feeling for other positions.
  40. In a small clothes or coat closet with the doors closed so it is completely dark. Will someone open it and catch you in the act? Fun at parties.
  41. On a billiard table as a forfeit for losing a few games of Dirty Pool or Six Nine Ball.
  42. On a fur rug/coat in front of a warm, glowing fireplace at night.
  43. In every room of your home and your lover’s home if you live separately.
  44. Creatively on or using stable pieces of furniture. On the kitchen counter, dining table, sofa, foot stool, etc. On the floor and up against the wall too.
  45. In front of a mirror or beneath one attached to the ceiling. Get a revealing new perspective of your love making from new angles.
  46. In front of a tripod mounted video camera or webcam. Record for later, view live or stream to an internet audience if you are an exhibitionist.
  47. In a small log cabin, thatch hut, mud hut or teepee. Include the possibility when planning vacations.
  48. In a garage, boat house or storage shed. Surreptitiously meet while others are outside unaware of your naughty behavior.
  49. In a tree house or fort (either a chance discovery, your own or a neighbors). Pretend you are teenagers fooling around for the first time.
  50. Next to an open fire while camping. A roaring fire stimulates passion while softly glowing embers at night instill romance and intimacy.
  51. On or against a clothes washing machine especially during the spin cycle.
  52. At a sex club or fetish party in a private cubicle or on display for others to see.
  53. On exercise equipment at a private gym. You will definitely enjoy your workout.
  54. In a dark corner of a dance club with a pulsing, pounding beat to grind to. A skirt and no panties/underwear makes this a much easier to perform.
  55. In a parking lot between parked cars/vans. Try underground and above ground parking lots but take care for security systems and surveillance cameras.
  56. Snuggling together in a sleeping bag in a small tent. Weather conditions, wilderness sounds or scary stories can set the mood.
  57. On a designated border line between two countries, states or provinces — one person in each territory engaging in diplomatic relations.
  58. In or near a cemetery at midnight during a full moon if you dare. Standing sex will have both your legs shaking with the thrill.
  59. In a public restroom, change room or even a friends bathroom. Novelty and the risk of getting caught coming out together make this exciting.
  60. On a plush lawn at night or early morning while it is still wet with dew.
  61. In a theatre during an arousing show or to make it more interesting. Remember to bring some wet wipes to clean your fingers.
  62. In a pile of fallen leaves or freshly cut grass.
  63. In a bed covered with rose petals or lots of money.
  64. On a private patio, porch or deck (poolside even better). A sturdy lawn chair or table, air mattress or a few seat cushions may come in handy.
  65. In an elevator (late at night on a weekday might be a good time and dress for a quickie).
  66. At a costume party. Dress the part for a sexy roleplaying scenario. Flirt and play act until you can secretly meet to fulfill your fantasy.
  67. Out on a high rise apartment balcony or next to a large window near the top floor. Try standing rear entry while looking down below.
  68. In a private adult playroom stocked with a wide variety of pleasuring implements. Bondage devices, costumes, toys and other playthings will whet your desire.
  69. Inside a walk in vault (it has happened but tends to require an employee or owner to facilitate). A walk in fridge or supply room is a quick alternative.

Some lovemaking locations may actually be a little tricky, costly, too exotic or even slightly dangerous depending upon your circumstances. However, if an idea intrigues you, you can always setup a scenario and roleplay a situation in a pretend location. With a little imagination and a few props, you can create a fantasy setting to fulfill your desires. You can even recreate historical, fanciful or alien space settings.

How to Form Odd Shaped Concrete Structures for Your Landscape

Ever wonder how they made those odd shaped concrete buildings or curves or triangle shapes? It is not a secret and your imagination is about the only limiting factor. Money of course helps for purchasing materials but in many cases used lumber or plywood will do just fine. Be inventive. A cardboard tube from the inside of a carpet roll when cut in half, makes a great sluice or slide form for a fountain or stream. The wood reels left over from an electric cable roll make a great inside form for a circle for a doughnut shaped form. All these things are free for the asking. There are also specialty materials available such as a product called “wiggle board” which can be flexed to achieve nice smooth curves to the faces of the finished concrete. Take a walk through your local big box store with the thought of finding things that can be used to form concrete. You will be amazed at what you find. Empty pails laid sideways in a wall form make perfect port holes or round window openings. Square, round, triangular or just about any shape you can imagine can be found. You can always make your own shapes as well. Lets take a look at how to form a curved wall.

Starting out with a plate on the floor to create the wall shape you want is your first step. You cannot bend a two by four of course so you use a larger piece of lumber and cut the shape (or part of it) from that. If the curve fits on a two by six, lay out the curve and cut it out with a saber saw. If the curve is longer than your board or more than what can fit on a two by six, use a two by eight and so on. Once all the floor pieces are cut, make a duplicate set which will be the top plate of your form work. Lay the pieces out in place and fasten them to footing or floor. The curved wall is now much easier to build. Using standard two by four lumber, place them as close together as possible along the floor plate to create a curved wall. Install your top plate. Using one quarter inch thick Luann plywood, and starting at one end of your form affix the plywood to the studs and then gently bend the plywood around the wall. You may want to coat the plywood with form oil prior to installing it and although this makes the installation a bit messy, it softens the plywood and makes it even easier to bend. Fasten the plywood to every two by four. This adds strength to your form work and keeps the plywood in place as it dries out. Once the face form is complete you can complete the backside of the form and pour your concrete. Odd shapes may be built into the face of the form to provide recess’s in the concrete or holes in the wall and so on.

Free form concrete can be great fun but requires a concrete pump that can shoot a concrete product called gunite or shotcrete. Any shape is possible and is limited only by the pull of gravity. Rebar, foam forms and other items can be used as temporary forms for the concrete until it hardens. In-ground swimming pools are quite often made of gunite which is how they get those great curved wall sections and shapes. It takes a crew to use a gunite pump but once the basics are learned with enough helpers you can use one as well.

Concrete when suspended in air needs some type of reinforcing to help support the weight of the concrete. If you are attempting to do suspended stairs for example, get an engineer to design the rebar layouts for you. Concrete is very heavy and can cause serous injury or worse if a collapse occurs.

Try forming some small architectural elements in your garden and pour them using a bagged redi-mix. Steps, small walls, a pool or pond and then move on to the larger features. You will be amazed at how easy it is to make these great looking features.

Smooth, Tasty Stovetop Espresso – 6 Tips to Prevent Bitter Stovetop Coffee While Using a Moka Pot

Stovetop espresso makers, also known as moka pots, are perhaps the one of the least popular styles of coffee maker. This may be due to the fact that they require a little bit of skill to brew delicious coffee. Just follow these six simple rules, and they will provide you with smooth exceptional coffee.

1. Don’t overfill the water reservoir. The lower chamber of a stovetop espresso maker holds the water that eventually gets heated and forced upwards through the coffee grounds. There is a release valve near the top of the water reservoir to allow steam to escape as the water begins to boil. Fill the water reservoir to just below the steam release valve. If the valve is covered, pressure will continue to build up until the moka pot explodes! This is a simple tip that will not only prevent bitter coffee, but also save you from a huge mess!

2. Use just the right amount of properly ground coffee. If you are grinding your own coffee beans, choose a grind that is finer than drip machine coffee but a bit more coarse than an espresso grind. Once you have the ground coffee, fill the coffee basket a little over two-thirds. Many instructions say to fill it to the top and level it off, but in my experience, filling the coffee basket all the way makes the brewed coffee taste bitter. Slightly under-filling the basket provides a much smoother cup.

3. Use good quality coffee beans. Obviously using better coffee beans will brew better tasting coffee. What may not be quite so obvious is which coffee is better. There are two common types of coffee on the market: arabica and robusta. Arabica is more delicate when it grows, yet overall has a much smoother flavor profile. Robusta is much easier to grow, as the name implies, but it typically has a sharper, more pungent taste. When buying coffee beans, choose arabica and you’ll get a more delicate brew.

4. Pick the right roast. The length of time the beans are cooked, or roasted, determines the type of roast. Roasts range from light to dark — the darkest roasts are referred to as Spanish, Italian, or French roasts. Darker roasts often have a slightly burnt taste. The type of roast you choose is personal preference. Remember that stovetop espresso makers brew strong coffee. So if you prefer a mild cup of coffee, be sure to choose a light to medium roast.

5. Use fresh, clean water. Don’t brew coffee with water you wouldn’t drink. Filtered water and spring water taste better than tap water, and so will your coffee if you use them. A side benefit of using filtered or spring water is that you’ll have less mineral deposits accumulating on your stovetop espresso maker, making it easier to clean.

6. Don’t let it cook. Listen carefully to your moka pot. When you hear a gurgling sound, your coffee is done. Take the stovetop espresso maker off the heat immediately. You may let it sit for thirty seconds off the heat if you want every last drop to make it into the upper chamber. However, if you leave the pot on the heat, your coffee will boil and take on a burnt, bitter taste. This is most crucial step in preventing bitter stovetop espresso.

A good technique is to time your stovetop espresso maker the first time you use it to find out how long it takes to brew a pot. Once you know how long it takes, set a timer for thirty seconds less than that time so you can be ready when it’s done brewing. Setting a timer will also prevent you from forgetting about your stovetop espresso altogether.

That’s it! If you follow these six simple tips for making smooth delicious stovetop espresso, you can’t go wrong.

Dog Diarrhea – A Comprehensive Guide

If you’ve got a dog, then chances are, he or she has had diarrhea at some point. Not only is dog diarrhea an inconvenient mess, it is an indicator that something could be seriously wrong with your pet’s health.

Remember: diarrhea that worsens, becomes more frequent, lasts longer than 24 hours, or is accompanied by a fever or lethargic behavior is an indicator that your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. Do not wait to call the vet – it is much better to call and find out that your dog will be fine, than to wait and discover that you let the symptoms go untreated for too long.

Here are some common types of dog diarrhea, and some of the things that might be causing your puppy or dog to be suffering from diarrhea symptoms.

Yellowish or Greenish Color – This type of dog diarrhea is often very foul smelling, and can have a liquid consistency. It is often an indicator that something your dog has eaten has traveled rapidly through his system, and that the body is trying to eliminate it quickly. If your dog has a habit of eating garbage or has found something disgusting to chew on, like a dead animal, this could be what is causing diarrhea.

Yellowish With Mucous and Blood Streaks – Any time you see blood in your dog’s stools, you should be alarmed. This type of diarrhea can indicate a bacterial infection like Coccidia or Giardia. If it worsens quickly and is accompanied by vomiting, it could be Parvo. Get your dog to the vet right away to give him the best chance at survival.

Bloody, Foul Smelling Diarrhea – Very bloody dog diarrhea is usually an indicator of Parvovirus. By the time most dogs get to this stage they have less than twenty-four hours to live, unless emergency treatment is given immediately. Dogs with Parvo are lethargic, and are unable to keep anything down without vomiting. Bundle your dog up, and get him or her to the vet right away.

Black Tarry Diarrhea – Diarrhea that looks black or tarry probably contains digested blood from the dogs’ own digestive tract. This could be an indicator of a serious illness, and your vet will probably need to run a blood panel to determine what is wrong with your pet.

Foamy Diarrhea – Very light, foamy dog diarrhea can be an indicator of a bacterial infection, especially if it is yellowish or greenish in color. If your dog has no appetite, is vomiting or appears to be lethargic, and has watery or foamy stools, he or she could have an internal obstruction. Veterinarians remove things like chunks of rawhide chew, shreds of fabric, pieces of plastic from garbage or a toy that the dog has destroyed, and even objects like coins from dogs’ intestines every day. Many dogs, especially puppies, will ingest just about anything – so don’t be surprised if your vet wants to take x-rays to see whether there is an obstruction in cases like this.

Pale, Grey Colored Diarrhea – If your dog has very pale colored diarrhea on a regular basis, this could indicate that he or she has an internal illness. Pale dog diarrhea is often seen in dogs who are suffering from liver disease. The vet will probably conduct a blood panel to see what is causing the diarrhea, and will then prescribe a course of treatment.

Remember, parasites and bacteria can often be transmitted to humans and other pets via contact with contaminated surfaces. Talk to your vet about how to sanitize your pet’s area, and be sure to get rid of anything that has come into contact with diarrhea.

Stairs Made of Wood Versus Concrete Stairs

Wood is one material that has won the hearts of many homeowners when it comes to their interiors and furnishings. Every home is bound to have something that is made out of wood. After all, it’s a very classic material. Wood is timelessly beautiful. Even when it comes to stairs, wood still plays a key role in most homes and to further reinforce this, here are the advantages of a wood staircase versus concrete stairs:

Wood is definitely safer to use. Indeed, it is better to fall on wooden stairs than on concrete stairs. The reason behind this is pretty obvious, wood offers better cushioning in case something lands on it. This is indeed good news for homes with little ones who tend to regularly fall on their butts. Their chances in developing fractures and the like are lessened when using the stairs made of wood.

If you also talk about the building point of view, stair builders have a divided preference when it comes to the wood vs. concrete debate, although most say concrete is easier to work with. Besides, wood planks are more expensive if you replace them than redoing a concrete mixture.

When it comes to your interior stairs, wood definitely sets a homey ambience to complete a home’s look. Ever notice that welcoming feel you get in a home with lots of wood furnishings? The same goes for stairs made of lumber, nothing spells ‘home’ more than wood. It sets off a cozy tone as opposed to a the hard, condescending aura of concrete. For the offices, concrete spells “corporate” out quite well, but wood can also add a Zen touch, something the office could use to reduce stress in the area.

The wooden alternative will also cause less and will be easier to renovate and change as opposed to the concrete version. Renovating and fixing the stairs will be easier if it is made out of wood. Just in case your wood staircase needs fixing, you can visit your local home depot or a trusted online stair parts supplier to get the quality stair parts you deserve at a reasonable price.

Speaking of price, be it known that wooden stair parts are more expensive and they also cost more money, time and effort to maintain and to keep beautiful.

At the end of the day, it still depends on which attributes of wood or concrete are the ones which you prioritize. Your staircase is your investment. Make it count.

Understanding WineShop At Home: Can You Really Make Money With WineShop At Home?

WineShop At Home began in 1995 and offers a large variety of wine and wine related products in addition to a business or income opportunity for those that would like to make an income stream marketing their company or products. However, can you really make money with WineShop? To answer this question, we will take a look at their compensation plan. I will also explain the products and give specific explanations of a few of them while also going over the cost it’s going to take to actually join the company itself and start making money all from home, if possible.

The Thing:

You guessed it, wine! Other than wine, they also offered wine related products and gifts. Categories of items offered by WineShop At Home are Wine Related Accessories, Gifts, Specials, Stemware, Personalized Wines, and of course, Wines. I will give a brief explanation of a few of the products offered by the company below.

  1. Adagio 2014 Sonoma Country Pinot Gris – You can get a bottle of this wine for $24.00 and flavors in the bottle consist of Mango, Pineapple, Grapefruit, Meyer Lemon, and Bergamot.
  2. Wine Country Chefs Apron – This apron is also $24.00 and is listed in the gift category. It comes in black and with the WineShop At Home Logo in addition to the slogan “Bringing The Wine Country To You” printed on the front.
  3. Artisan 5 Star “Sparkler Stem” – This is a set of 4 and cost $69.95 and is in the Stemware category. It is designed to develop persistent bubbles and forms a crown at the surface.

The Opportunity:

If you become involved with this company, you will be given the title “Wine Consultant”. Now is time for the big question! Can you really make money with WineShop At Home? In order to answer this, as mentioned before, we must take a look at their compensation plan. For this company, their compensation plan is pretty basic so let’s go ahead and get the ball rolling.

  1. Personal Commissions – As a wine consultant you will be able to earn a Base Commission of 20% and will be eligible to earn bonuses up to 35%.
  2. Team Commissions – As for most network marketing companies, you can build a team to leverage even more income. You can earn up to 44% commission from your teams generated sales and will be eligible to earn cash bonuses up to $3,500.

To Conclude, Yes, You Can Make Money With WineShop At Home!

The Cost:

Yes, there is a cost! It’s important to remember, if you get involved or affiliated with this company you are opening up your own business! All businesses require some type of start-up fee. However, in the industry of Network Marketing, Affiliated Marketing, Multi-Level Marketing, or whichever name you decide you enjoy more, it is generally much more affordable than starting a traditional company in which can range from $5,000 to $10,000 easily.

If you want to get involved with WineShop At Home, you must purchase one of the three kits offered!

  1. Mini Kit – $79.00. This kit includes a Wine Tasting Guide, Wine Tasting Training DVD, WineShop At Home Corkscrew, 3 Posi-Pours, 5 Host Planners, 10 Interest Forms, 5 Host A Wine Tasting Brochures, and a Guest Wine Tasting Tablet.
  2. Starter Kit – $149.00. This kit includes a WineShop At Home Logo Messenger Bag, 2 Bottles of Wine Club Select, A Wine Tasting Guide, A Wine Tasting Training DVD, WineShop At Home Corkscrew, 10 Order Boards, 3 Posi-Pours, 10 Interest Forms, 5 Host Planners, 5 Opportunity Brochures, and a Guest Wine Tasting Tablet.
  3. Premium Kit – $299.00. This kit includes an Insulated 6-bottle Wine Carrier Bag, A Launch Tasting Sampler, 4 Bottles of Wine Club Elite, Personalized Wine Sampler, WineShop At Home Apron, Wine Tasting Guide, Wine Tasting Training DVD, WineShop At Home Corkscrew, Wine Away, 15 Order Boards, 6 Posi-Pours, 20 Interest Forms, 10 Host Planners, Host Postcard Invitations, 10 Opportunity Brochures, and a Guest Wine Tasting Table.

Final Thoughts:

I’m not a big drinker. Matter of fact, I don’t drink expect maybe once a year. However, I would still consider marketing their products just for fun. I know a ton of people enjoy drinking, alcohol, and more specifically, wine! Therefore, I believe this company has a Massive Market! A massive market is very important to look for before joining any company like this and if it doesn’t have a massive market you will likely before frustrated before making any actual money!

The opportunity affiliated with the company is honestly pretty weak. They only offer two different payouts. I was unable to find any referral bonuses, any leadership bonuses, any Match-Up Bonuses, etc. This company started in 1995 and it doesn’t seem they have expanded their compensation plan very much which is a problem. I like companies and feel secure and motivated about companies that constantly expand. This does not seem like a constantly expanding company, at least in terms of their compensation plan. You can definitely make money with WineShop At Home but how much depends solely on two different payout systems.

The cost is nice. I like the fact that they have 3 different ways to begin. The price can be either expensive or inexpensive depending on your budget and what kind of business builder you are. In comparison, a traditional company has a much higher start-up fee regardless of which kit you choose from WineShop At Home. Additionally, in terms of Network Marketing the cost is also quite affordable and you are able to get a good amount of items with each kit.

According to the manufacturers when you charge the shoes for 3 hours they will last for 6-9 hours. For them to charge fast thus saving you time, you should switch them off.

Wear them at the right place: While the shoes are great, they aren’t designed to be worn everywhere. Some of the places where you can wear them include: party, sports arena, concert, and dancing competition. To avoid weird looks avoid wearing them to a job interview, wedding, or funeral. You should also avoid wearing them when going through airport security.

Wear the right fit: To enjoy the experience of the shoes you should ensure that they are a right fit. When in the stores buying, always wear the shoes for some time. If you are in-between shoe sizes, you should avoid sizing down. According to experts, you are better off sizing up.

Be on the lookout for new styles: Manufacturers are always coming up with new shoe styles. If you love LED shoes, you should regularly visit your local stores and see what they have in stock.

Switch things up: Most of the shoes come with over 7 color changing options. To make your shoes interesting and give them a new look you should play around with the colors. The best way of going about it is to change the colors depending on your mood or the outfit that you are wearing.

Light up shoe don’ts

Don’t expose them to a lot of water: The shoes have a wiring system that can be damaged by water. To protect them you should avoid them from getting into contact with water. This calls for you to avoid walking in them in rain. You should also avoid wearing them to the swimming pool or water ride.

Don’t leave them in a hot car: In addition to water, heat has also been shown to greatly affect the shoes. Heat has been shown to damage the batteries putting the shoe at the risk of exploding. To protect your shoes you should avoid exposing them to a lot of heat. This calls for you to avoid leaving them in a hot car. You should also avoid leaving them near fireplaces and ovens.

Don’t put them in the washing machine: The washing machine not only exposes the shoes to a lot of water, it also tends to damage the exterior of the shoe. To be on the safe side you should avoid putting the shoes in the washing machine. The best way of cleaning the shoes is using warm water, mild soap, and a damp washcloth.

These are the LED shoes dos and don’ts that you need to know about. To have a great experience you should always buy the shoes from a reputable store.

Renaissance Warfare and Weapons – Siege Tactics

The era commonly known as Early Modern Warfare began during the middle of the fifteenth century and lasted until the end of the eighteenth century. The widespread use of gunpowder along with the weapons designed to use it, changed the methods of warfare dramatically.

China had been using gunpowder for centuries before the European countries began using it. Cannons were the first common weapons to use gunpowder. But at the time, all weapons that used gunpowder were generally large, very heavy, required many men to deploy them and were unwieldy to say the least. Cannons first appeared in Europe during the late Middle Ages and their primary use was for attacking castles. The development of the siege cannon quickly made the use of castles and their tall walls, for your main defense obsolete. The siege cannon meant that the attacker was now favored to be the ultimate battle winner. As a result, the character of the defensive position had to be changed. The high castle walls gave way to slopping walls. These slopping walls would deflect the cannon shots and allow the primary defense mechanism, the wall itself, to remain intact. Castles with their tall and relatively thin walls became obsolete as a defense tool.

The castles gave way to fortresses. These fortresses were built with thick slopping walls. To defend themselves, cities had to spend vast amount of money to build the new fortresses. These fortresses, with their ability to sustain cannon fire then brought back the Siege as the primary tactic for attacking a position

A siege is the assault of a city or fortress with the intent of winning through attrition, a more modern term is a blockade. When an attacker could not get the city or fortress to surrender and realizing that a direct frontal attack would not be successful would resort to the siege tactic. A siege usually meant the attackers would surround the target, either the city or a fortress with the intent of blocking the entry of supplies and provisions to the inhabitants.

Common siege tactics were

1. Mining or sapping

Mining or sapping involved digging a tunnel under the walls of the castle or fortress. The mines would have wooden reinforced walls for support. Once complete the attackers would fill the mine with flammable materials and set it on fire. Later, with the use of gunpowder, the mines would be filled with explosives, which was a much more effective use of the “sapping or mining”. The purpose of the sapping, or mining was to bring down the wall over the mine and allow an entrance point for the attackers.

2. Artillery bombardment. Using everything thing imaginable to go over the wall of the fortress or castle and inflict harm.

3. The use of the siege engines.

There are many types of siege engines. The general categories are ballista, battering ram, catapult, helepolis, mangonel, onager, siege tower and trebuchet.

Ballista: This is a powerful weapon that resembles a giant crossbow. The purpose of the ballista was to throw heavy arrows. It could shoot the arrows one at a time or in groups. The ballista is also knows as a bolt thrower. In earlier times the Romans used the ballista to hurl large stones but during the Middle Ages the ballista was modified to throw arrows, which at the time were known as bolts. The crossbow is believed to have been inspired by the early ballista. The ballista was made of wood and used animal sinew as the rope or string. Winches were used to pull back (cock) the ballista.

Balissta: The ballista was a very accurate weapon when hurling bolts (arrows) but the accuracy was gained at the expense of range. The first known use of a ballista was in Italy in 400 B.C. The catapult was a natural evolution of the ballista.

Battering Ram: Battering rams are devices used to break through fortification walls or doors. They have been in use since ancient time. The simplest form of a battering ram is a large heavy log carried by several attackers to hit the fortress or castle door or wall. The objective is to do enough damage to the wall or door to allow the attackers inside.

A more efficient design of the battering ram was to use a wheeled frame to carry it. The battering ram was suspended by ropes or chains which allowed the ram to be much larger and be swung more easily. The sides and roofs of this improved type of battering ram were sometime covered with protective materials to keep them from being set on fire and to protect the attackers.

Some battering rams were not suspended by ropes or chains but were placed on rollers instead. This would allow the ram to gain much higher speed and thus inflict much more damage. The writer Vitruvius described this type of rolling battering ram as used by Alexander the Great.

To defend themselves from a battering ram the defenders would drop obstacles in front of the battering ram or use grappling hooks to immobilize the ram or set the ram and/or its frame on fire. Another defense was to simply launch an attack on the ram as it approached them.

The use of battering rams can be traced to the destruction of Jerusalem and the fall of Rome. They were used throughout the Crusades too.

Catapult: A catapult is a type of siege engine used to hurl a projectile a long distance. Catapults were not weapons that the attackers carried with them into battle and they were generally built on the battle site. They are made from wood and it was plentiful on most battlefields.

The differentiation of differing types of catapults comes from the way they used to store and release their energy.

The first type of catapult was a variation of the Roman ballista. These used rope or animal sinew to hurl the objects. The rope or sinew was pulled back under tension and when the tension was released the energy carried the projectile. So if the catapult stored and released the energy through tension, it is considered a tensional catapult.

Another type of catapult is the torsion catapult. These have an arm with a bucket, cup or sling to hold the projectile. The force is transferred to the sling through the use of rope at the other end of the throwing arm. These ropes are placed are pulled tight to “load” the catapult with torsion energy.

Helepolis: This is an ancient type of siege engine and was known as the Taker of Cities. It was invented by Demetrius Poliorcetes for use during the siege on Salamis in Cyprus.

The shape of the original helepolis was a tall square tower that was supported on four wheels. The helepolis was divided internally into nine different stories. The lower stories held machines used to throw projectiles (large stones). The middle section contained catapults for throwing darts (large spears). The top section was used for throwing smaller stones and smaller catapults. The helepolis was manned by two hundred soldiers and was propelled via a large drive belt and wheel inside the helepolis. The soldiers could propel the helepolis from the inside without having to take direct fire from the defenders.

Mangonel: This type of siege engine is a catapult type used to throw projectiles at castle walls. The mangonel could hurl projectiles over great distances (1,300 feet). This is a much longer distance than the trebuchet, which was invented later. The mangonel was not very accurate and hurled the projectiles at a much lower angle than the trebuchet.

The mangonel was a torsion arm catapult that used a sling to hold the projectile. The energy was stored by twisting ropes or sinew.

In battles, mangonels hurled rocks, burning objects or just about anything else the attackers could think of. Vessels filled with flammable materials were popular and would create a large fireball upon impact.

Onager: The onager is a torsion type of catapult. The torsion energy is stored by twisting ropes. The release of the energy provided a type of kicking action and thus the name onager which meant wild ass.

The construction of the onager was pretty straightforward. It consisted of a frame which stayed on the ground. The front of the frame had a solid wooden vertical frame attached to it. The vertical frame had an axle running through it with a large single spoke protruding from it.

In battle the spoke was pulled down via the use of twisted ropes or winched down to hold store the energy. When the energy was release the spoke would violently kick into the crosspiece of the vertical frame and the projectile would shoot forward.

A variation of the onager is the mangonel. The mangonel used a bowl to hold the projectile instead of the sling and was less powerful than the onager.

Siege Tower: This is a specialized siege engine used to protect the attackers as they approached the walls of the fortress or castle. These were often rectangular shaped and sat on four wheels. They were built to a height of approximately the height of the wall and sometimes even higher. When built higher than the wall the siege tower allowed archers to shoot into the castle or fortress.

These were heavy and difficult to maneuver and were generally built on the battle site. They took a long time to construct and were used primarily when all other types of siege tactics had failed, like sapping or direct ladder assault.

Its large size made it an easy target for the defender cannons upon approach.

If the siege tower was successful, the last thing to do was to drop planks between the tower and the wall to allow the attackers to enter the fortress or castle.

The outcome of a siege falls into one of these four categories:

1. If the defenders repelled the attackers without aid from outside forces then the position is deemed to have been “held”.

2. If the defenders repelled the attackers with the help of outside forces then the position is deemed to have been “relieved” or “raised”.

3. If the attackers succeed in taking the fortress, castle or city but the defensive forces are able to escape then the position is deemed to have been “evacuated”.

4. If the attackers succeed in taking the fortress, castle or city and they also destroy and/or capture the defenders then the besieged entity is deemed to have “fallen”.

Is My Roof Type a Candidate for Roof Coating?

A roof coating is the best way to add life, stop leaks, reinforce weak areas and add energy efficiency to a commercial roof. How do you tell if your building is a good candidate for coating? The best way is to get an inspection and evaluation from a reliable, experienced commercial roofer.

There are several types of coatings available including EPDM, which is a liquid rubber or elastomeric coating; and aluminum asphalt emulsion, which is a mixture of asphalt and tiny aluminum flakes that reflect sunlight and reduce damaging heat. Both of these products can qualify as tax deductible “cool roofs” that have the following benefits.

– Lowered air conditioning costs. Reflected sunlight keeps the surface cool and lowers the temperature within the building.

– Low installation costs with no disposal or “dump” charges.

– Low maintenance. Maintenance costs are tax deductible including the initial application of the cool products.

– Extended life expectancy of the existing underlayment. Cool installations do no suffer the breakdown of tar based gravel coated examples caused by excessive heat.

– Seamless installation makes the surface impervious to wind and driving rain, ice melt and standing water, as well as resistant to hail damage.

The principal behind a cool roof coating is the same as selecting a car in a hot climate. If you choose a black car, it is going to be much hotter on a sunny summer day that a white car. Your air conditioner is going to take a lot longer to cool down the interior of your black car. The same holds true with a building. A light-colored reflective surface will keep the interior of the building much cooler than a black tar surface.

Due to the savings on your cooling bill your project will make sense economically. Add to that the tax benefits and rebates in some states, and a cool coating is the only way to seal off your commercial building.

The CRRC rates cool roofs based on solar reflectivity and thermal emittance. The particular color does not have to be white for a high reflectivity rating. There are many very attractive colors to choose from that the CRRC rates high on the cool scale.

So what types of existing examples are good candidates for roof coating? The products can be applied to the following types of existing installations: Built up asphalt, metal, including steel, galvanized steel and aluminum; and single ply. Most commercial buildings fall into one of these three categories.

When selecting a roof coating contractor be sure to choose one that has a long history of cool roof installation and can provide references of other installation and long maintenance relationships with customers. That way you will be assured of a contractor that won’t coat and run back to another state. It is common for out of state roofing contractors to solicit in a state where there have been heavy rains, hail or wind damage and disappear after doing the work. Choose a local contractor with a great reputation and you will rest easy knowing your building is protected for years to come.

Why I Hate Epiphone Guitars Review

Consider this my blanket review of all Epiphone guitars in general. I go to Guitar Center a lot. Usually it’s just to check out a bunch of guitars through different amps. I bought one guitar there, and I buy them online sometimes too. About a year ago I found a cool deal on Musicians Friend on a Epiphone Dot Studio guitar. The Dot Studio is basically a budget version of the very expensive and legendary ES335 (several thousands of dollars). This guitar was awesome! It was black on black, and those humbuckers just screamed through my Marshall! It had lots of tone, and was very light (which is great on stage). I loved that guitar…for awhile.

After I gigged it out a few times, the bridge volume know fell inside the body cavity, held on by only the volume knob itself. The nut had come loose. I popped off the volume knob while holding on to the pot pliers, tightened up the nut, and that was that. I tightened up all the other volume and tone knobs too. This was the first time I began to feel like Epiphone was a really low quality guitar. I’d never seen a brand new guitar, direct from the factory with loose volume knobs. In fact, I’d never owned a guitar for years where the volume knobs got loose on their own.

So I gigged this black Dot Studio out like 6 or 7 times. I noticed one night that the input jack nut was coming loose. I tightened it up by hand and all was well for the night. But that made me take notice of the input jack from that point forward. I always checked at home and before gigs….and ended up hand tightening it all the time. It was as terrible pain, and I don’t know why they didn’t install a locknut or lock washer at the factory. Long story short, it had to be tightened so many times that it caused one of the wires attached internally to the input jack to start to short out, and eventually just fall off. I ended up buying an AllParts input jack new at Guitar Center and soldering it back in myself. The guitar was ok…..for awhile.

On stage I switch from bridge to neck pickup a lot depending on the song. I started to notice at first a crackle, and then sometimes just cutting out going from neck to bridge. I would have to switch it back once or twice before it kicked in. I’ve never had problems like that before on a new guitar – that told me it was a cheap input jack. I had already noticed when I soldered in the new input jack how thin the internal wiring of the guitar was (compared to others I had taken apart). Problems with the wiring, and the switch dragged on for months. When I installed the new input jack I had put a few dots of gorilla glue at the edge of the nut to keep it from coming loose again. Eventually I sold the guitar when I had owned it just under a year. I ended up buying the Ibanez Artcore I play as my main guitar now in it’s place.

I have not had a single problem with the Ibanez that I had with the Epiphone, and it has the input jack on the tail just like the Epiphone did. And I can see inside the F-holes of the guitar that the wiring is significantly thicker than it was on the Epiphone. My only complaint with the Artcore is that the pickups aren’t nearly as biting or clear as they were on that Dot Studio. I have a friend that loves Epiphones. He’s tried to tell me that maybe the one I had was just a lemon. I disagree. I have played dozens of Epiphones in 3 different guitar centers and various music shops. Each and ever one has had loose knobs and or input jack. Also, the setup and quality is very hit or miss.

Here’s a prime example. I went to Guitar Center today and played several instruments. I saw this one guitar that was stunning from afar. It has natual laquer and wood, beautiful finish, semi-hollow body 335 type guitar. As I got up on it I saw it was indeed an Epiphone Dot Studio. Being a glutton for punishment I picked it off the rack and plugged it in. It played nice. In face it screamed, and was full of tone. And in this newer model, the input jack had been moved from the tail to the top just right of the bridge. The input jack was tight. I tuned it up and played. Nice action, nice feeling neck, even the toggle switch for neck and bridge was a newer kind and seemed better. Then I switched from neck to bridge and went to turn the volume up for that pickup…and it turned around, and around, and around, and around. The nut had become loose and fallen off that volume. I check the others, and they were also indeed loose.

I played a flame top Epiphone Les Paul last weekend, and it’s input jack and volume knobs were loose (and the action was terrible). I played two Dot Studios that were on clearance and the action was way off the fingerboard, and one had a blemish on the headstock. Loose volume knobs as well. The wost was 2 months ago when I was very interested in getting an SG. SG’s are very expensive, so I of course checked out the Epiphone SG’s (I know – idiot, duh!). They had this one that was white with gold hardware, triple humbucker. Beautiful guitar…nice action, good setup – I liked it a lot. It was on clearance for $340 – a bargain (so I thought!). I plugged it in and tried the neck pickup – nice! I switched to bridge, and no sound! I turned every volume and tone knob on 10 – still no sound! The mid pickup switch was the same. This guitar only had volue on the neck pickup! I thought this guitar was so nice, that I was willing to get it fixed if need be. I took it over to the department manager looking for a deal. He said “no way – it’s already on clearance”. I said “but wait, it’s broken – the wiring is bad and you’re selling is as ‘new’!”. He wasn’t willing to budge one iota on the price. They also weren’t willing to fix it, I had to buy the guitar AND PAY FOR the repair! I was pissed and ended up not buying the guitar. I don’t care if it was clearance or not – they didn’t even know the wiring was bad until I brought it up to them! How can you sell something as brand new that’s broken, and not be willing to send it back to the factory?

See a pattern here? Every Epihpone I pick up in any store, any make or model has a problem or a blemish. The quality is so low, I would never again take one (without gutting it) as a stage guitar. If they can’t even make sure the hardware is tight and the electrical connections are good, and spend an extra $2.50 on a quality switch and input jack – I am not interested in buying an Epiphone guitar EVER AGAIN!! The ONLY way I would consider it would be if it were on extreme clearance (less than $300), and I was going to have it rewired with new knobs, switch, and input jack! If you are considering an Epiphone guitar – BUYER BEWARE!! Look for the things I have pointed out. You will get much more for your money if you take a look at other mid-range priced guitars from Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, Paul Reed Smith (the LTD line), ESP, Dean, or others. I will be reviewing many of these guitars in the future to give you as much information as possible!

Fantasy Anion Humidifier – A Unique Alternative

Many different types of humidifiers are available from a number of brands. There are basically three types; cool mist, warm mist and ultrasonic. The ultrasonic units are considered the most technologically advanced options and give noise so low that it cannot be detected by the human ear. These units use high frequency sound waves and use the process of ultrasonic atomization to convert water into a mist. Some of the most attractive ultrasonic units available are the Fantasy Anion humidifiers.

These units operate like other ultrasonic humidifiers and the mist generated is collected into a bowl that is placed on top of the unit. Once the bowl is completely filled up the mist starts slowly spreading all over the room thereby increasing the level of humidity.

The customers are protected from dry air and its harmful effects and so are their possessions. The end result is a healthy and comfortable indoor environment. The unwanted particles like dust, dirt, bacteria, fungi, spores and pollen are completely removed from the air and the result is completely clean humidification.

Another benefit of these units is that they can be operated by plugging into a 12 Volt power source and hence can be operated even in the open by plugging in into a vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket. These units are hence used not just to provide the required humidity but also as a decorative piece. They are extremely attractive and the swirling mist promises to take you into another world altogether.

We are all aware that the most important gas in the atmosphere for us is oxygen. These units are designed so as to activate the oxygen molecule is such a way so as to increase its intake by individuals by up to 20%. This helps people remain healthy and adds to their life in the long run.

The units are also popular as gift items as they can be assembled and reassembled to fit into a small box. These are so attractive when they are operating that a number of people use them more as decorative pieces than as humidifiers to create an atmosphere full of fantasy and romance.

Another benefit of using Fantasy Anion humidifiers is that these are ideal to disperse essential oils or fragrances into the area concerned. These are also extensively used to convert normal home environment into that of spas. This is done by adding aromatic oils to the water that slowly evaporate and are converted into a fine mist. As this mist spreads into the room, so do the aromas. These are therefore the preferred choice of a number of style and décor conscious people not just in our country but all over the world.

Organic Gardening – A Speech for Teachers

Organic gardening has increasingly become an important part of the curriculum in schools around the world. Teachers at every grade level find themselves teaching it to students, and sometimes being called on to give a speech to a group of parents. As a career educator and principal, I know the difficulty of opening up time for speech preparation, and offer this organic gardening speech for your use. Feel free to edit it to fit your needs.

Organic Gardening Speech

How selfish are you? On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest, how selfish would you rate yourself? If you are the least bit selfish, you might be interested in organic gardening.

An organic gardening speech might seem more appropriate coming from a Home Economics teacher, but I am just selfish enough that I love organic gardening. I want to share that love with you and with your children.

I want you to come with me, in imagination, to a time and place before the Industrial Revolution. The year is 1707. It is late summer. We find ourselves walking the streets of a small town. Houses are spaced well apart for privacy. Land stretches out behind each house. As we look, we notice that much of that land is taken up by gardens. Here and there, we see both adults and children actively engaged in gardening. The plants are beautiful.

You call to one of the adults and ask what they use to make the garden so lush. A broad smile breaks, and through the smile come the words, “Feed the soil, and the soil will feed the plants.”

You shake your head. Poor people. Too bad they don’t know about that miracle combination of chemicals you saw advertised on TV last week. That’s the easy way to grow spectacular plants!

The organic gardener invites us to join them for the evening meal, and we accept. At dinner, we join in the prayer of thanks, and then watch in amazement as the children, one after another, begin eating fresh vegetables.

You yourself are not that fond of vegetables, but you politely take a small serving of each. You bite into a leaf of steamed cabbage, and your eyes open wide in amazement. It is sweet – twice as sweet as the cabbage you buy at your local market! You watch a small child fill his mouth with dark green kale, and shudder. There’s a small spoonful of the nasty vegetable on your own plate, and you pick at it, putting a single small leaf in your mouth. Amazing! It, too, is twice as sweet as any kale you ever ate. The same seems true of every vegetable on the table. You decide that if your supermarket vegetables were this good, you would eat a lot more of them.

Our imaginary trip ends at that dinner table, and we return to the present.

Organic Gardening’s Benefits

Organic gardening has many benefits. If you are completely selfish, you will want those benefits for yourself. If you are unselfish, you will want those benefits for your family. Let me give you just three of organic gardening’s benefits.

1. Taste: Organic gardening has been proven to produce tastier fruits and vegetables. A Hong Kong study measured Brix levels, the percentage of sugar in plant juices, using produce from organic gardening and from non-organic gardening. The results showed that organic gardening produced produce that was 2 to 4 times as sweet as that produced by non-organic gardening. Sweeter fruits and vegetables are tastier, and easier to eat, whether you are a young person or an adult. Organic gardening helps us eat better by providing tastier fruits and vegetables.

2. Nutrition: Organic gardening has also been found to provide nutritionally superior produce. Virginia Worthington, of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, compared the composition of vegetables grown simultaneously under different farming conditions. Her work included 41 studies with 1,240 comparisons of 35 vitamins and minerals. Worthington found that organic gardening produced vegetables and fruits that were higher in most minerals and vitamins than those from non-organic gardening. Not only that, organic gardening produce was lower in potentially harmful nitrates, which result from nitrogen fertilizers. Dr. Worthington concluded that produce from organic gardening is nutritionally superior. You and your family will enjoy better health with fruits and vegetables from organic gardening. (Effect of Agricultural Methods on Nutritional Quality: A Comparison of Organic with Conventional Crops, Virginia Worthington MS, ScD, CNS, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, 1998, Alternative Therapies, Volume 4, 1998, pages 58-69)

3. Exercise: Finally, organic gardening offers you and your children regular daily exercise in the outdoors. Organic gardening helps you build muscles, especially important core muscles. Organic gardening gets you into the sunlight where you can absorb essential vitamin D. Organic gardening is a great stress management tool. Organic gardening gives you an outlet for creativity. It provides satisfaction as you see your work produce useful fruits, herbs, and vegetables.

We could talk about the aesthetic pleasures of organic gardening – how beautiful that garden might become. We could talk about how you can save money with organic gardening – growing your produce instead of purchasing.

Finally, we could talk about how important it is for our children to learn about organic gardening, to embrace it as the way to better health, and to practice it with school, home, and community gardens.

An organic gardening speech could go on for hours, but I’m going to stop here, hoping that I have whetted your appetite enough that you will seek out more information on organic gardening.

Helpful Tip for Speech-givers

A few large bowls of beautiful organic produce can be set on the platform or around the room to help visual learners picture organic gardening.
