Can You Eat Fast Food Salads on Medifast?

I sometimes have people who contact me and ask if it’s permissible or if you’re allowed to eat a carefully chosen fast food salad as your “lean and green” medifast meal. I occasionally do this and I find it to be perfectly acceptable in a pinch. The key though is to select very wisely. Some fast food salads are quite diet friendly and some load you down with as much calories and fat as a hamburger and fries from the same restaurant. I will take a closer look at this (and tell you which offerings I like) in the following article.

Keep In Mind What Medifast’s “Lean And Green” Criteria Is When Choosing Your Fast Food Salad: When making your selection, you’ll want to remember exactly what you’re looking for. The daily “lean and green meal” is made up of 5 ounces of lean protein and three servings of low glycemic vegetables. A salad can accomplish this wonderfully, but only if you choose one that has those three components without any extras. Of course, you want to keep the fat, carbs, and calories down, but many offering stay within these guidelines.

Many fast food offerings load down their salads with fried meats, bacon, croutons, and cheeses. And, you can really get in trouble with their dressings. But, if you look closely, there are several good and viable options. Several companies offer options with grilled lean meat and just your basic diet friendly vegetables.

Some of my favorites include:

1. McDonald’s Premium Caesar Salad With Grilled Chicken: This one has grilled chicken, dark leafy green lettuce, and grape tomatoes. There is some cheese on it but you can either remove it or special order your salad without it. Also, I use my own spray dressing to save a lot of calories and fat.

2. Taco Bell’s Chipotle Steak Taco Salad (From The Fresco Menu): This salad is great, but it has to be modified. You obviously can not eat the shell and you can’t add the tortilla chips and cheese. You should also ask them to hold the rice. But the lean steak, lettuce, tomatoes and salsa are all fine from my experience. I put fat free sour cream on the side and I use the salsa for my dressing. It’s still very tasty.

3. Wendy’s Mandarin Chicken Salad: This one has a nice assortment of greens, carrots, tomatoes and broccoli. I omit the mandarin oranges because the carb and sugar content is too high. But the chicken and toasted almonds stay. Again, I use my own spray salad dressing because these are invaluable for saving fat, carbs, and calories.

4. Kentucky Fried Chicken’s Grilled Chicken BLT Salad: Of course, you will have to omit the bacon on this one. But, the lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled chicken are perfectly fine.

This is by no means an exhaustive list. These just happen to be the ones that I like. However, any offering that has basic low glycemic vegetables and lean protein should work. Just remember to omit the undesired extras like croutons, bacon, cheese, pastas, and the heavy dressings. As I’ve alluded to, those spray dressings are invaluable. They are tasty and just a few sprays really does cover the salad and give you the flavor that you are looking for without the fat of some of the dressings which contain more of the bad stuff than the hamburgers from those same restaurants.

Free Online Poker Games

Free online poker games are everywhere. You can find them on poker stars, absolute poker, full tilt poker etc…FREE OF CHARGE. Now if you are new to poker in general and do not know the poker rules quite yet I definitely suggest you start playing online. If you have been playing poker for years and years at a local casino or a home game, playing free online poker games is MUCH different. Reason being, you can’t actually see someone’s facial expressions and getting a read on an individual’s poker cards is much harder online. Also, catching a bluff online is much harder than in person. The good thing about playing poker online is when you finally get familiar with where to play poker online and how to when playing for play money poker chips you can move into playing for real money.

The first thing you must know when you jump into real money tables is they are MUCH MORE different than playing for play money. Player’s games completely change when money is on the line. Don’t ask me why, but if players don’t have money on the line most of them are just not motivated to try and win. To reach the stage of players trying you have to move into real money games offered on all the same sites that you can play free game online poker on, you can play real money on also. What I suggest you doing is depositing $50.00 if you do not have that much. I was a poor college student starting out when I started playing for real money. It has turned into a house, car, and me being able to quit my job so it is definitely possible. After you deposit this $50.00, many poker sites such as fulltilt poker and poker stars will give you a 100% deposit bonus to match whatever you deposit up to $600.00. That’s great for you, right when you deposit that $50.00 you now have $100.00 bucks to work with. Instead of jumping right into a cash game with this $100.00 I strongly urge you to try out sit n go games. You can’t go wrong with poker tournaments online. If you are unfamiliar with sit n go’s basically they are mini tournaments consisting of 9 players which the top 3 of these players make it to the money. The prize structure is as follows:

3rd place = 20% of the total prize pool offered

2nd place = 30% of the total prize pool offered

1st place = 50% of the total prize pool offered

Looking at these payouts, winning first place in a sit and go is like three 3rd place finishes. It is VERY important to try and get first place each time. A great poker tip you should know is to play tight all the way through until there is 4 players left in which you need to play aggressive. When there is 4 players left everyone will start playing tight but YOU in hopes to hang on for a 3rd place finish and into the money. This is the most perfect time to steal their blinds and cruise your way into a first place finish.

Colorado Residents Beware – Bentonite Clay Causes Cracked Concrete in Driveways and Patios

Most soil under Colorado’s concrete driveways has an unusual ability to expand and contract due to moisture absorption. The reason? Bentonite clay.

Bentonite, or Sodium bentonite expands when wet, possibly absorbing several times its dry mass in water. While most soils containing bentonite will not expand more than 35 to 50 percent in volume, it is this expansion in volume that causes the pressure and movement. No concrete is safe, even stamped or decorative concrete can be damaged by swelling soil. Cracking and lifting of concrete is common among most Denver residences.

The Solution? If you are serious about eliminating the maintenance issue surrounding bentonite and its effects on concrete, paving stones are the solution in Colorado.

A correct instillation of paving stones removes bentonite soil down to 12 inches beneath the grade. A geo-tex fabric is then placed in the excavated area. This fabric preserves the load bearing capacity of the base for a greater length of time. High compaction road base is then added between the geo-tex fabric and underneath soil. A high impact plate compactor is then used to compact the road base. This eliminates water expansion and air pockets within the base layer. A small layer of bedding sand is added and smoothed over the road base completing the base layer instillation.

Make sure your paving stone contractor is ICPI Certified, a leading authority on paving stone applications.

A certification is given to contractors who abide by the standards of ICPI. Unlike concrete contractors, paving stone contractors must adhere to the highest standards set by the ICPI ensuring a quality job for your home.

A Guide for Songwriters – The Most Commonly Used Song Structures

Song structure is important because it organizes our songs. Think of the most common types of song structures as universally agreed upon roadmaps for your songs. They tell us where the song is going. We’ve heard the most common structures so many times that we’re practically trained to know what section is coming next. While that might seem like a bad thing, it’s not because it brings a familiarity to our music which makes people want to hear it. It does that from the very first time we hear a song with a common structure.

The Most Common Structures

With that in mind, let’s look at the most commonly used song structures in popular music.

Verse / Chorus / Verse / Chorus / Bridge / Chorus

This one’s also known as an ABABCB structure, where A is the verse, B is the chorus and C is the bridge. This one’s extremely popular. Radiohead’s “High and Dry” is a good example of this song structure.

Verse / Pre-Chorus / Chorus / Verse / Pre-Chorus / Chorus / Bridge / Chorus

This one’s a slight variation of the first structure we looked at. The only difference here is the addition of a pre-chorus which shows up before the choruses. A good example of this structure is Katy Perry’s “Firework.” The part that starts on the words “You just gotta ignite the light… ” is the Pre-Chorus.

In both of these song structures it’s fairly common for the chorus to be repeated a second time at the very end of the song to really drive the hook of the song home to the listeners.

Verse / Verse / Bridge / Verse

This one’s a bit of a departure from the first two structures we looked at. It’s also known as an AABA structure. This time A denotes the verse, while B denotes the bridge. There’s no chorus in this type of structure. Instead, each verse usually ends (or begins) with a refrain. A refrain is a line or two that repeats throughout the song. Since it’s usually the title, the words of the refrain usually stay the same, while the rest of the verse lyrics change.

Usually, this song structure will have a lot of variation in the verse melody, since the verses repeat often. It keeps their melody from getting boring during all the repetition.

The Beatles and Billy Joel have used this song structure a lot. The song “We Can Work it Out” by the Beatles uses this structure. You can hear that the title line “We Can Work it Out” is the refrain in the verses. The section starting on “Live is very short… ” is the bridge.

Any of these structures can be modified as appropriate for your song. You may have noticed that in “We Can Work it Out” the bridge is repeated twice. This is a pretty common modification of the AABA format since a lot of times a simple verse / verse / bridge / verse structure often makes for a very short song.

Common Song Structures without Bridges

Those three song structures are the big ones. There are two others that are common as well, but they’re used less because they don’t have a bridge.

Verse / Chorus / Verse / Chorus

Also know as an ABAB structure, this one is a simplified version of the ABABCB structure, with the bridge omitted.

Verse / Verse / Verse

This one’s not used often because it’s hard to keep things interesting if all you have is one section being repeated. Like the AABA structure, this one also makes use of a refrain in the verses, as the central focus. Bob Dylan uses this song form in “Tangled Up in Blue.” Take note of the variation in the melodies through a typical verse of that song. It’s crucial in a song with this structure in order to keep the melody interesting.

A bridge helps to change up the sound of a song and keep it interesting. It prevents a song from simply being a repetition of one or two sections. That’s why these two song structures don’t show up as much as the first three we looked at. But you should know that they do exist in songwriting.

You can modify the common song structures to fit your song as you see fit, but it’s good to know what they are so you can use them as a starting point. Not only will they bring familiarity to your songs, but they’ll give you a good guide on how to lay out your music.

3 Kitchen Blender Problems You Can Fix Yourself

Over time, even the best kitchen blenders will start to show damage. This is especially true if you use your blender every day to make thick smoothies. Today, in our throw-away society we’re quick to just trash a product at the first sign of a malfunction. Small appliances like blenders are usually not worth taking to a repair shop to have them fixed. But before you resign your blender to the landfill and buy a new one, there are several quick and easy repairs you can do yourself. Taking the time to do these checks to see if you can get your blender working again is certainly worth it.

One of the most common problems you’ll find with your kitchen blender is leaking. Even top rated blenders from blender reviews will start to have this problem eventually. The cause lies in the o-ring or gasket located in the bottom of the blender jar where the blade assembly and housing reside. Over time the rubber gasket starts to wear down. If your blender leaking comes from the glass jar and not the bottom, then there is likely a crack in the jar and you’ll have to replace it. Bottom leaking though is likely the gasket. To inspect it, you’ll need to unscrew the blade housing from the blender jar and pull out the rubber o-ring. Then you can just look for leaks and tears in the rubber of this ring. This part is easily replaceable and only costs a few dollars. You can find it online or at most home discount or appliance stores.

Faulty Blades

Another common problem with blenders will occur with the blades. In this case the engine will start to run, but the blades will turn too slowly. If this happens then the likely cause is something clogging the blade assembly area. You’ll need to take the assembly apart and clean everything thoroughly with a scrub brush. There is probably a build-up of food slowing the blades. Soaking everything for a few hours in detergent will also help to dissolve any food particles or gunk that has built up over time. Be sure to check your owner’s manual to make sure that this is OK to do for your particular blender brand. You may also want to add some white grease or WD-40 to the lower part of the blade assembly (not in any areas where you’ll be putting food of course). If all of this fails to work, then you’ll probably have to replace the whole assembly, which can also be purchased online or at most home appliance retailers.

Busted Buttons

One other issue you may have with your kitchen blender lies with the buttons or the control panel. Often buttons will get stuck. This is probably caused by food and drink getting down into the button area and causing them to jam up. Even if you are careful and clean the buttons and control panel thoroughly, over time, food particle will still accumulate. Many blender models will let you take off the control panel cover so that you can clean up behind this. You can use a toothbrush here to help you get down into all the crevices. Some blender models will also let you remove the screws on the bottom of the unit and pull out the lower housing area so that you can get to the buttons easier. Be sure to consult your owner’s manual if you need to do this. Often all your blender needs is a good cleaning to get the buttons working again.

This information should help solve most common minor blender problems. Keep in mind that often a simple repair or replacement will save you the expense of having to get a new blender. It’s also much better for the environment to repair something rather than to just throw it away.

Considering Buying a Wall Mounted Vanity?

Wall mount vanities are a very big trend. They are for the contemporary home with sleek styles and finishes. If you have a contemporary flair and remodeling your bathroom, a wall mount vanity will make a big impression. Since there is no bottom to the vanity it makes it really easy to clean as well. It sounds like an easy decision to make if you like the style but be forewarned. It may cost a lot more than what you may expect.

The installation of the wall mount vanity is where the cost can go up significantly over a floor mount vanity. Before making any purchase, discuss the costs with contractor so the expense is known upfront. Many contractors have never installed a wall mount vanity but they’ll tell you it’s no problem. It’s not unfair to question your contractor’s experience. If they have no experience, later they may come back to you with “unforeseen” issues and demand more money. It is important to discuss those details before the purchase is made and even then there still may be something “unforeseen”. This is unfortunately true with most aspects of the renovation process.

There are two main issues to address with your contractor when installing a wall mount vanity. First, discuss the installation to the wall. Since you won’t have the vanity yet, you may not know how it’s supposed to be installed. There may or may not be installation instructions available in advance or at all. This is more common than you may think but the industry is starting to provide more information overall. The installation is more about the wall and the stud and less about the vanity itself. Reinforcing the entire vanity wall before tiling is widely recommended. The vanity is normally bolted to the wall. Second, be sure to address the location of the plumbing supply lines and drain. Many wall hung vanities have a U-shaped cut-out to accommodate the drain. This is especially common for any vanity with drawers in the center. The supply lines and drain need to fall within the frame of the vanity and they must be centered if there are any U-shaped cut-outs. If the vanity is open on the inside without shelves or cut-outs then the plumbing doesn’t have to be in the center but it is more visually appealing when you open the vanity doors. If you will need to move the plumbing to accommodate the vanity, please discuss the additional labor costs before you purchase the vanity.

By addressing these two major issues with your contractor prior to your purchase, you will confidently understand the total cost involved with purchasing a wall mounted vanity. If you are doing new construction, you will still need to review the vanity specifications with the contractor.

Good luck with your renovation and wall mount vanity purchase!

The Top 6 Features of a Famine Runeword in Diablo II

Famine is a Runeword used in Axe or Hammers and comes with Life leech and Magic, Fire, Lightning and Cold damage, making it a possible option for a weapon switch when coming across monsters that are immune to Physical damage.

An Axe or Hammer with 4 sockets

Runes (in order): Fal + Ohm + Ort + Jah

Level Required: 65

30% Increased Attack Speed

+320-370% Enhanced Damage

Ignore Target’s Defense

Adds 180-200 Magic Damage

Adds 50-200 Fire Damage

Adds 51-250 Lightning Damage

Adds 50-200 Cold Damage

12% Life Stolen Per Hit

Prevent Monster Heal

+10 To Strength

30% Increased Attack Speed

30% IAS is nice, but it is likely that you will require other items with IAS for character to break the maximum breakpoint.

+320-370% Enhanced Damage

A great boost to Damage, but loses out to the damage potential of the Grief Runeword which is much cheaper.

Ignore Target’s Defense

This ability doesn’t work on Champions, Uniques, Bosses or Players. Smite Paladins will find this ability worthless as well, since Smite automatically hits its target.

Adds 180-200 Magic Damage

Adds 50-200 Fire Damage

Adds 51-250 Lightning Damage

Adds 50-200 Cold Damage

Occasionally, while playing Diablo 2, especially in Hell Difficulty, you will come across monsters commonly referred as Physical Immunes, meaning they are immune to physical damage. Therefore, you must find other ways to deal damage, and magic and elemental damage are the two options.

Magic Damage is really nice, because aside from one monster in the whole game, none of them are immune to magic, and even for players, only one single Crafted Safety Shield offers any resistance to magic at all.

The Magic damage and three sources of elemental damage on the Famine Runeword will keep you covered against Physical Immunes, even if they have one or two other Elemental Immunity (it will be a tough fight though!)

12% Life Stolen Per Hit

This is a very decent amount of Life leech, and stands the Famine Runeword in good stead, even when factoring in the reduced return from Life leech on Hell Difficulty.

Prevent Monster Heal

Good in Hell Difficulty due to the increased regeneration rates of the monsters, but doesn’t work on either boss monsters or players.

The consensus on the Famine Runeword is that while its stats are decent and it provides a viable weapon switch for those times when you come across a Physical Immune, the Runes required for its creation are too expensive to justify the cost (they can be better used elsewhere). Also,  experienced Diablo 2 players prefer other options for dealing with Physical Immunes, and there are two that are considered more affordable and efficient: Gimmershred (a unique stack of axes that can be thrown) and Azurewrath (a unique Phaseblade), both are viable options on Hell Difficulty.

Interior Design Trends: Painted Ceilings

In recent months, more and more people are finding that their ceiling doesn’t have to be white, nor does it have to be a popcorn type ceiling. With that in mind, many are also finding that the ceiling is a perfect way to add a good dose of color into the interior design of their home. Here’s the low down on the colorful painted ceiling trend.

Where Can I Use a Painted Ceiling?

Getting right down to business, it’s worth mentioning that you can actually do a colorful painted ceiling in just about any room in your home. In fact, it is a great way to add a pop of color to bedroom designs, bathroom designs and even living room designs. If done in a tasteful way, a colorful painted ceiling can also add a whimsical, romantic or elegant touch to kitchen designs.

You can also paint ceilings in your outdoor space if you’re not quite ready to paint your interior ceilings. Consider painting the ceiling of your gazebo or front porch, or other outdoor space, to test the waters and see if you can stomach painting the ceilings in your interior spaces.

Pros and Cons of Painted Ceilings

One of the biggest benefits to the painted ceiling is that it is truly unique, especially in interior design. Many people wouldn’t even dare paint their ceiling a hue other than white, making it highly unlikely that you’ll see this look in your neighbor’s home, or anywhere else for that matter.

Another benefit is that a painted ceiling can help a large, cavernous room feel smaller, more cozy. This is beneficial in extremely large rooms where you’re having a hard time dealing with all the space, at least in terms of decorating ideas.

Finally, painted ceilings can add a unique touch of elegance, a touch of whimsy or any other inspired feeling you’d like to add to any given space. They’re unexpected and when done right, they’re a great way to compliment your existing interior design.

On the other hand, if you end up choosing a color that doesn’t work like you’d imagined, it can be difficult to repaint it. This is because repainting a ceiling is hard work, harder work than repainting your walls. Holding your arms upwards can make the task take significantly longer.

Since it is a time consuming and exhausting task, you may find yourself contemplating hiring a professional painter which of course, is a con purely because it costs you additional money that you may not have planned in your interior design budget.

Painting the ceiling is a great way to add unexpected color to a space. However, it’s not for everyone, and it’s certainly not for the faint of heart. Be confident in your choices and you’ll find that you love how your interior design looks with a beautiful, colorful painted ceiling-even if that color is subtle or vibrant.

Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa – The "Industry Standard" of Portrait Painting

“Portrait of Lisa Geraldine, wife of Francesco Del Giaconda….” That might not get a layman real excited, even if some Renaissance man executed it. Neither would that layman get worked up about it, knowing further that the painter of this non-creatively titled painting was in reality a scientist & a mathematician, and was more famous for his architectural drawings than his portraits. Bias against the painting would build up further if he knew that this was one of the artist’s “minor” works, which he did for earning a living. Who would want to look at some rich man’s wife sitting in the front of an imaginary landscape? Who would want to buy such a boring work? Who would indeed? Unless that painting was known as “The Mona Lisa” and its painter was none other than Leonardo da Vinci, the teacher of the very famous Italian Renaissance painter Michelangelo.

Considering that Leonardo was not quite an oil paint maestro and his expertise lied actually in science and mathematics, one tends to forget that often great artists are shadowed by their own talents. So famous was da Vinci in his times for his scientific inventions, that painting was not really his forte. The surprising part was the apparent disdain with which Leonardo treated painting. He painted, repainted, mutilated, and rebuilt most of his paintings, despite them being excellent classics that ranged from the likes of “Last Supper” to the “Virgin of the Rocks.” Leonardo’s obstinate urge to experiment with different techniques led to total disasters and many of his creations crumbled in his lifetime only. Owing to the usually messed up treatment of Leonardo, only few of his paintings survived to the level that no more than fifteen could be traced today.

Leonardo lived in Italy in the mid of fifteenth century and created a majority of his works on commission from religious trusts. Mona Lisa was a personal commission, Leonardo though gave it a religious touch by posing her as the Virgin Mary, according to the then prevailing fashion. The painting’s subject, “Mona Lisa” is as ordinary as it sounds; it is the portrait and the painter’s mystery motives that intrigue. The real mastery of da Vinci lies in creating a classical yet somewhat surreal atmosphere around this woman that has tickled many art lovers. Many questions have been raised from time to time such as, “Is she real?” “Why is the background imaginary?” “Why are her eyebrows plucked?” “Is “she” a man?” “Are there any hidden codes in the painting?” “Why the positioning is in a particular way?” In addition, the views of millions of conspiracy theorists have made the painting all the more enigmatic. As mentioned earlier also, all this guesswork is natural considering the fact that da Vinci was a man who created puzzles beyond the intelligence of his times.

“Mona Lisa” is a classic textbook framework of portrait painting. The proportion and the positioning of each element used in this portrait were aesthetically so strong that they became a sort of “industry standards.” If not for anything but this, da Vinci deserves all that he has been revered for, including the very wonderful Mona Lisa.

Sexiest Pubic Hairstyles – List of What’s Hot in Pubic Hair Designs & Pubic Hair Patterns

What woman would not when looking to shave her vagina want to have the sexiest looking pubic hairstyle there is, that is, if all the pubic hair is not coming off. It is funny and hard to understand why women pay a fortune and tolerate such excruciating pain at times from waxing only to cover up their work of art. Okay fair enough if it is for your partner then understandable. How to find the sexiest pubic hairstyle may be difficult because what I may see as sexy you may not. The only way we can select an erotic pubic hair design or pubic hair pattern considered the sexiest is to list the options available and you take it from there.

If this is an impulse decision to shave off the pubes then you must consider the downsides if any to the particular process you have opted for. Maybe your boyfriend might be displeased with your choice so be sure to ask him. You also have to think about how you will feel after the sexiest pubic hairstyle has been created. Some women regret doing something like this, however not the end of the world as it is an issue that corrects itself over time when the pubic hair grows back. I personally can`t see the point myself in spending good money to have a pubic hair design that will in a couple of days surely look a complete mess when hair growth (stubble) reappears. Okay I know mind my own business and get on with it.

Common choices of pubic hair designs is the landing strip, heart shape and triangle patch. Of course if you have your own design in mind then have a word with the person designated for the job and see if they can accommodate you with your request. Nowadays nothing is really seen as too much trouble; however have a plan B just in case.

Less main stream shaved pubic hair styles like the lightning bolt, diamond shape are increasingly popular. In the name of fashion women will go to great lengths to keep up with trends regardless. To be fashionable in today`s society you need to invest in more than some up market designer or celebrity-look-alike accessories. In some cases of young girls it is about following suit of their idols like Naomi Campbell and Gwyneth Paltrow a couple of celebs who I believe host designer thatches, nonetheless you need to do this for you and no one else. These celebrities have the money to put things right should a pubic hairstyle go wrong.

There was time when women had a fetish for shoes, handbags and cosmetics but now we look more to the downstairs fetish so as to speak (the nether region.) History of pubic hair styles came about in 1617 where pubic wigs were worn by prostitutes to cover the signs of lice and venereal disease. How much truth in this I am not sure. In the seventies Britain`s Penthouse magazine exposes pubic hair for the first time in a pornographic magazine “albeit to the point of invisibility”. Hugh Hefner famously refused to show pubic hair in his Playboy magazine, while his rival publication, Penthouse, laid it out for all to see. Not sure should we British get a pat on the back for this or what. In middle seventies Rio de Janeiro beaches gave rise to the fashion phenomenon the string bikini. Nowadays this is nothing new, with the “thong” reportedly being the no 1 best selling underwear garment. But this is where the rot apparently set in with the Brazilian bikini bouncing onto the scene, hence drawing our attention to pubic hair. Hair styling of the pubes was truly born from this day and judging by statistics it is here to stay and for a very long time.

Now back to find you the sexiest pubic hairstyle.

Popular pubic hair styles for all tastes

The Arrow is Brazilian strip, with an arrowhead on the bottom.

The Bikini Bottom/Bikini Line – Just a tidy up where hair remains giving the effect of a bikini bottom shape when viewed from the front.

The Brazilian – The most renowned and popular pubic hair style of all – removing all but a very thin strip of pubic hair down the centre.

The Cardshark – Hair is shorn to leave a playing card design. Hot Favorite is Hearts then diamonds and spades but clubs are rarely sported. And apparently it’s not the done thing to centralize the design its normally seen to the side.

The Charlie Chaplin is a horizontal strip like a Chaplin mustache – also called the Hitler or Adolf.

The French involves removing a strip of hair both sides – less dramatic than a Brazilian.

The Hollywood/Lolita/Kojak/Yuk Brynner need I spell it out – All shaved or waxed off.

The Isoscelesis a triangular version of the French.

The Landing Strip usually referred to in Military circles as the Runway. Wider than a Brazilian, narrower than a French.

The Princess Cut – A vertical oval shape like an American Football or Rugby Ball deigned in the pubes.

There is a multitude of choices in pubic hair design but what you see as the sexiest pubic hairstyle may not be listed here. You need to browse specific magazines or visit a beauty salon or better still go online for information on sexiest pubic hairstyles.

Three Secrets to Increasing Resiliency in You and Your Child

Resiliency is the ability to bounce back when it seems like life strikes out at you – to take whatever comes your way, handle it, learn from it and continue on. Resiliency comes into play when really difficult situations arise, such as, relationship break up, death of a loved one, loss of career – in fact any big financial challenge – helping someone you love (including yourself) with addiction and so on.

But resiliency goes far beyond that – it also factors into your daily existence… whether it be continuing to go to a job you dislike day after day; forcing yourself to go for treatments at the doctor that you would rather not; or even bringing up a difficult conversation that could result in confrontation with somebody that you’re not ready for.

It is resiliency that stops a person from giving up on life completely and it is resiliency that you use to pick yourself up and start piecing your life back together when you hit rock bottom.

So, as you can see resiliency is a very important part of your human experience. It helps you shine your light brightly for all the world to see – which is a big part of your personal vibrancy. It factors into your self-worth and it is the fountain from which your courage and willingness to ‘step up’ comes from. This is a critical thing for you to model to your child if you want to help them discover the easiest path through their journey in life. Remember – that doesn’t mean problem free – it just means dealing with any obstacles as effortlessly as possible.

An absolutely essential life message for our kids to internalize (and you too if you haven’t already) is that there is no problem so great it cannot be solved. Barabara Coloroso talks about this in her book Kids are Worth It – which was one of the first parenting books I read over 20 years ago and this idea has become a foundational piece of everything I teach.

When you truly believe that you can handle whatever life throws your way you will feel more capable, you will look more capable, in fact, you will be more capable. This doesn’t mean you will like what’s going on in your life, or that you will only have good days, but it does mean that no matter what surfaces for you, you’ll be confident that you can make it through.

An interesting little (overlooked) fact about resiliency – humans are born resilient. You do not need to learn how to become resilient, you just need to become aware – and fully embrace the fact that this is true.

We’ve all heard stories of people that have dealt with incredibly horrific situations yet managed to overcome them. In every situation nothing really changed to get them out of that situation – except for their own beliefs or willingness to do what needed to be done. They experienced a change of heart… a paradigm shift really… which allowed them to dig deep and find the strength they needed to start making changes.

The key to helping people thrive in life is to believe in their resiliency and to help them embrace the strength that comes with it. You can only be a victim if you choose to believe that you are – nothing changes when you adopt this belief except how vibrant and capable you feel; which in turn influences how capable you are in that moment.

So what can you do? I have 3 tips to help you get started:

1. Understand resiliency. Resiliency is a natural part of who you are. You do not need to teach your child how to be resilient… you just need to help him understand that it is there and learn how to keep it polished and working for him.

Give a firm and consistent message of, “I know you can handle this.” This doesn’t mean leaving your loved ones to their own devices and walking away… but it does mean allowing them to take ownership of the problem they are facing and letting them know you have their back.

Questions like, “So what do you think you can do to deal with this situation?” “How can I help you with this?” “I wonder what resources you have access to that might help?”

Comments like: “I wish I had a magic wand that I could wave so I could fix this for you, but I guess it’s not really my problem to fix… I’m here for you though if you want to brainstorm ideas you can try.” “This sounds like a difficult problem to solve, but I know you’ll figure out something. Let me know if you want my help coming up with a plan.”

Whatever you decide to say you want two messages to come through loud and clear – I know you can handle this and I’ve got your back.

Finally, if you are the one facing the difficult situation, remind yourself you have everything you need to deal with whatever comes up in your life – if you don’t know how to proceed, seek out supports, but know that you are the only one who can ‘fix’ it. Believe in your ability to do that and find other people to support you in that belief. Beware of those who want to do it for you – they often mean well, but they are not helping. One final note – remember that often times fixing a problem is as simple as accepting it and allowing it to unfold.

2. Refuse the role of victim… you cannot access your resiliency when you are playing the role of victim. As long as you are feeling sorry for yourself, dwelling on how unfair life is or blaming other’s for everything that is going wrong for you, you will not be able to climb out of the hole you are digging. I think of kinds of things (such as self-pity; revenge planning; victim mentality) as shovels and like to tell people, you can’t dig your way out of hole so if you’re in one, put down the shovel first.

No matter how difficult life is, it will never serve you to believe you are a victim. Our society right now is focused on creating this kind of thinking and too many people have bought into it. Your ego latches on to this fear and pulls it into your core, then uses it to stop you from taking calculated risks, from moving out of your comfort zone and even from trying to change a difficult situation. Many people stay in a bad relationship, continue to feed their own addiction, or move from one illness to another rather than putting their foot down and refusing to settle… they do this because their ego is running the show and the ego on its own, is fueled by fear.

Your life experiences are simply that – pieces of your journey meant to help you grow and evolve beyond your current level of understanding. When you choose to be afraid of them, you make the experience of going through them far more difficult and set yourself up for needing to repeat the process many times over.

Notice your fear, acknowledge it and figure out what you need to do to rise above it. The moment you shift out of the victim role, will be the moment your resiliency starts to shine lighting a path for how to move through your current situation.

3. Focus on resourcefulness and creativity… Human beings are different from other animals because we have imagination and an ability to think beyond what we already know. In fact, creativity feeds us – not just personally but as a society. Think about all the inventions that have occurred over time to allow us to not just survive, but to thrive. Things we take for granted, such as heat sources, fridges, motorized transportation, air travel, vitamin pills… really the list is endless.

It is this resourcefulness – that ability to find solutions to problems or to create things that allow us to function even better – that helps us evolve. Now some of you might want to argue that not all inventions have taken us in a positive direction – I would agree with that – however, for our purposes here, let’s focus on the ones that have.

Just to clarify, when I’m speaking of resourcefulness I’m talking about the ability to seek out whatever is available to you and to use that item or resource to help you deal with the situation at hand (sometimes it’s people, but it can also be the internet, a certain skill set, membership in a group, and even material items). Creativity, on the other hand, is the ability to create something new or use something in a new way… like using a pencil or paper clip to pin back your hair.

When I was in my late teens I used to love watching a show called MacGyver. What I loved about MacGyver was that he could get out of any situation – by using his resourcefulness (typically whatever he found lying around) and creativity. This polishes your resiliency beautifully because nothing will help you know that you can handle whatever life throws your way like creatively solving your own problem.

So don’t be afraid to think outside of the box or even to use the box in a new and unexpected way. The more you do this, the more powerful you will feel.

These 3 tips are just a starting point to helping you reconnect to your resiliency and become aware of what you might be doing to dull your child’s connection with their own. When you believe in your own resiliency you rise above a lot of the density in life and shift yourself from the role of potential victim into that of the hardy adventurer.

Counterbalanced Forklift Trucks

Counterbalance forklift trucks are widely used in the materials handling industry and in factories/warehouses around the world. Top forklift manufacturers like Linde, Toyota and Mitsubishi all make counterbalance forklifts, plus you can get one in a fuel choice to suit your needs (diesel, gas or electric). A typical counterbalanced forklift truck contains the following components:

The Truck Frame – is the base of the machine to which all the other parts – mast, axles, wheels, counterweight, and power source are attached. The frame may have fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks constructed as part of the forklift truck frame assembly.

The Counterweight – is a heavy cast iron mass attached to the rear of the forklift truck frame. The purpose of the counterweight is to counterbalance the load being lifted, obviously up to a certain load weight. In an electric forklift the large lead-acid battery itself may serve as part/all of the counterweight.

The Cab – is the area that contains a seat for the operator along with the control pedals, steering wheel, levers, switches and a dashboard containing operator readouts.

The Mast – is the vertical assembly that does the majority of the work of raising and lowering the load.

The Power Source – may consist of an internal combustion engine that can be powered by LP gas, CNG gas, gasoline or diesel fuel. Electric forklifts are powered by either a battery or fuel cells that provide power to electric motors. The motors may be either DC or AC types.

Fork Attachments – a variety of types of material handling forklift attachments are available. These include sideshifters, slipsheet attachments, carton clamps, multipurpose clamps, rotators, fork positioners, carpet poles, pole handlers, container handlers, roll clamps and many others, many companies will specially design bespoke attachments if required

A counterbalanced forklift offers some benefits over fork-over design and straddle-leg styles but with some other drawbacks. A counterbalanced forklift can lift pallets directly off the floor since there are no stabilisation legs to get in the way. The disadvantages of this type of counterbalanced forklift are that the weight capacity and lift height will typically be less than the other styles. The counterbalanced forklift is the easiest electric forklift to use for parking pallets closely together.

What is Commercial Printing?

Think about all of the commercial printing materials you come across in a single day. The direct mailers, the billboards, company brochures, business cards and so forth, all of the paper sizes, paper thickness, the colors and the creative marketing materials. Now, think about how these items become reality? How they evolve from a idea, to an design to a final printout.

Commercial printing is the process of taking art work and transferring that work onto a piece of paper or card stock. Many companies use a form of offset printing to transfer four sets of color, being cyan, magenta, yellow and black or otherwise known as CMYK.

The process is somewhat simple and hasn’t really changes in over a 100 years. An aluminum plate is created from the art work, each representing one color out of the CMYK process. The plate is wrapped around a plate cylinder that allows ink to fill up the cut out shape of the aluminum plate. Ink is poured into the cutout and it is transferred to a rubber roller called the blanket cylinder. The blanket cylinder is what is used to allow the paper to roll within to retrieve the right level of ink. Finally, the impression cylinder is the roller that pushes paper along at 10,000 sheets per hour to absorb the right level of ink. There are four presses, each for the individual colors. The paper moves along each press, retrieving one color at a time and finally ends up in an area of inferred heat to dry the paper for printing on the back side.

Commercial printing includes the right level of water and ink. The aluminum plate allows the paper to absorb the right level of ink and the rollers presses the image onto the paper, one at a time.

Commercial printing has many advantages that create professional and outstanding final products for many people to enjoy. There are many companies practicing this form of professional printing. The key is to ask the right questions and understand the printing process as CMYK Offset printing techniques are the best method for printing amazing marketing materials.
