Well it is not that easy. It is a little bit easier to learn than stick welding but only a little.

Bare wire mig is cleaner, and will weld thinner metal, but flux core is easier to use outdoors and does not require a cylinder of mig welding gas or a flow meter. TIG welding

TIG welding is considered one of the more difficult types of welding to learn…harder to master than mig or stick welding. That is because both hands are needed to tig weld. One hand holds a tig torch with a tungsten electrode that provides the arc and heat…and the other hand feeds the rod.  TIG welding equipment is generally more expensive and more difficult to set up because there is often a remote amperage foot pedal included and it takes a cylinder of argon or argon mix shielding gas to work.

Tig welding is the most versatile type of welding of all. Virtually all conventional metals can be welded with the tig process. Carbon and low alloy steels, stainless steel, nickel alloys, aluminum, magnesium, titanium, cobalt, and copper alloys can all be welded using this type of welding.

Plasma arc welding

Plasma arc welding is similar to tig welding except that the tungsten electrode is recessed inside a nozzle and the heat is created by ionizing gasses flowing around the arc. Plasma arc welding is used where high precision is required and in situations where a recessed electrode is beneficial.  Plasma arc welding is used extensively in aerospace applications for dimensional restoration of air seals and jet engine blade repair where thicknesses are often below .015″ and amperages used are often single digit.

Gas welding

Gas welding is one of the old school types of welding.  Oxygen and Acetylene is the most popular setup for a gas welding kit and gas welding is still used a lot for automotive exhaust applications, as well as by homebuilt airplane enthusiasts for welding 4130 chromoly tubing for airplane fuselages.  It works. It’s portable. And it is fairly versatile… There are still some people that swear by gas welding even for welding aluminum.

You can also change the oil filter and it is usually just adjacent to the oil chamber. Use the correct type and size as specified for your car.

o You can lower the car now and fill the new engine oil. Be sure that you do not pour excess oil over the dipstick mark as this is going to be very difficult to drain off. Wait patiently for the oil levels to settle.

o The other things you will need to check include the spark plugs. Spark plugs need to be cleaned periodically. Unscrew the spark plugs from the engine and clean them with a soft cloth. You will need to shine the plug contact points using sandpaper. Fit them back in, and now check out the air filter. Cleaning the air filter is easy and you can use your vacuum cleaner to do the job.

o You will also need to check out the suspension. Bump the car and observe how long it takes to settle. Ideally this will take no more than 3 bumps. Also check out for any spills, or leaks coming out of the shock absorbers.

o Now you will need to check out levels of brake fluids and top them up if necessary. Also, inspect the brake shoe condition by removing the wheel and inspecting the braking unit. If worn out, you can easily change them on your own.

With this done you are completed with the major servicing part of the car. The remaining things include oiling your doors and the hinges, checking if your lights are working, testing if your seat belts are working, and measuring the tire pressures (front and rear).

This might seem a long list to do but if you observe a typical car servicing process you will understand the nuances within no time. An easy way to proceed is by creating a check list for the different things will need to do. This way you can be sure of not missing out on any parts that need to be serviced.

The premaxillary or peri-pyriform implant builds out the entire base of the nose from one side of the pyriform aperture to the other. This includes anterior nasal spine area as well. For very flat midfaces, this implant can really help provide augmentation to the nose and upper lip.

The nasolabial or melo-labial groove implant fits onto the bone to the side of the nose and helps soften or build-out the very deep nasolabial fold or groove. Rather than using temporary injectable fillers placed beneath the skin, this implant placed on the underlying bone serves to provide the same push.

The Lefort or maxillary implant, the least common of all midfacial implants, is designed to be used during or after a LeFort I osteotomy. This implant would fit above the osteotomy line so that the midface would not look more deficient as the maxillary teeth come forward.

All midfacial implants, while being very different in shape and indication, share two common features. First, they are all placed from an incision inside the mouth so no skin incision is ever needed. Secondly, they are all best secured into position with a screw as their position is critical in getting the desired esthetic result.

How to Make Hypertufa Tiki Heads

I’m going to try to do this without any pictures and I hope you can understand it.

The first thing to do is gather your materials for this project. You’re going to need a 5 gallon pail, your usual Hypertufa mix, some chicken wire, some contact cement, a brush to apply the hypertufa base coat, and some foam. The foam has to be rigid not the stuff you find in mattresses. Be sure that the foam is not affected by the contact cement. Some foam will melt when you tried to glue it. Another way to do this is use a hot glue gun and glue.

Draw a picture of what you want your head to look like. Once you have the picture clear in your mind (and on paper) you can proceed.

The first thing to do is form a cylinder with the chicken wire that will fit over the pail. If the handle is still on the pail removed it now. Once you have done this you can turn the pail over so as a top facing up and slipped the chicken wire cylinder over at. If you think the chicken wire cylinder might fall off you can get some screws and big flat washers and screw it on. The best way is to cut your flat washers out of old aluminum cans. The aluminum is easy to cut with scissors and you could just poke a hole in a for the screw.

Now that the chicken wire is secure begin cutting pieces of foam. Cut a piece for the forehead. Some eyes, a nose and of course the mouth. Use your hot glue to stick them in the appropriate places. You will probably want to make some ears as well.

Now take a good look at it and decide if you’re happy with its appearance. If you’re not it can be modified. What I do is make the forehead go down as far as the ears and then make holes in the forehead for the eyes. If you look at a face you will see your eyes are about level with the top of your ears. Your forehead sticks out and your eyes are indents. And then of course your nose sticks out and your mouth is defined by your lips which generally stick out as well.

The easiest way for the mouth is to make it closed. Having an open mouth is little hard to achieve because then you have to decide the depth and whether or not there’s going to be teeth etc.

When you are happy with how it looks mix up some cement with just a bit of peat moss and it. Make it thick enough that it won’t run off. Give your head (the one you are working on) a coat of this using the paint brush. But don’t worry about covering everything this is just sort of a base coat to be sure that your Hypertufa will stick well. So if there is some wire and foam sticking out of it is no big deal.

Let this sit overnight uncovered, but if you are in a hot, dry place it is a good idea to cover it with a plastic sheet or something. You don’t want it to be bone dry for the second coat. Once you have that done mix up your favorite Hypertufa recipe and cover everything smoothing often the appropriate places. I generally do three coats, the last one is again a thin one to just fill in anything that didn’t go quite right during the second coat.

Now it’s done, slip a black plastic garbage bag over it and let it cure for a few days. You may want to paint it with a sealant when it’s dry. I don’t bother I like to sit them out and let moss grow on them.

Another thing you can do is cut a hole in the top while you’re working on it and drop a big flowerpot into it. Then you can kind of build it in with your Hypertufa and once you’ve got everything done plant grass or something. Make it look like it is growing hair?

Early Design

The first version of the bucket truck was known as a “cherry picker” and came out during the early 1900’s, just about the same time as the use of internal combustion engines became widely accepted. In the Orchard – and Beyond

Despite its popularity these days as a maintenance vehicle, the bucket truck didn’t begin life in the garage of an electric company. On the contrary, it evolved from a vehicle know as the “cherry picker”. During harvesting season, trucks equipped with platforms that could be lifted were used for harvesting fruit from high up on the trees. The platform served as a safe ground for the worker while harvesting. Although conventional ladders were originally used for fruit harvesting, ‘cherry pickers’ were much safer to use. The platform was wide enough for workers to move around with less danger of falling.

Another advantage from this new invention was the minimal risk to tree damage; ladders placed against the trees for workers to climb up to harvest the fruit frequently damaged the tree trunk. With this new vehicle, the platform could be conveniently positioned near yet right above the tree without disturbing it at all. It was a further convenience because relocation from one tree to the other was so much easier with this motorized platform version. Although the name ‘cherry picker’ was a misnomer since cherries were not the only fruit harvested, that name stuck with the truck for a long time.

It didn’t take long for other industries to adapt the ‘cherry picker’ to their own usage. The electric utility company in particular found it to be a virtual blessing to the repair of damaged utility lines. It made the work of their employees easier, faster and much safer than the previous method of climbing a telephone pole and ‘hanging’ from it to complete any task!

Additional industries that picked up on and adapted their own versions of this vehicle are: forestry; sign and light; house painting and window washing; mining and construction industries to name a few. The application of different uses for this vehicle is virtually endless. As long as the task involves heights and requires a high degree of safety, then the bucket truck is the right truck for the job.

Current Trends

The current design for the bucket truck is the same and yet it is very different. The boom is still housed on a basic truck frame and still retains its basic functions. The difference here is the addition of an articulated boom to the design as well as varying locations for the boom on the body depending upon the needs of a particular industry.

The biggest difference in design lies in the vehicle’s safety features. New bucket truck designs are significantly safer to use. Modern versions have insulated buckets to protect workers from electrocution risks when handling electric wires.
