At bootcamps we continually get asked the same questions – one being – “Which are the best Routines?” Mystery would say “with great delivery and good Vibe you can say anything” and I 100% agree. Of course you have to get great delivery and have had enough experience with the Flame and Ghost Vibe to pull that off. But if you are starting out or want to get back to basics, what should you use?

Just looking on my mind-map right now, I presently have 158 polished routines. Do I use them all – NO! – I simply used the routines as an objective for polishing my delivery and if truth be told, while I was new to the game, to help me focus on the delivery of the Gambit and not the responses I was getting from women (yep, they weren’t always great lol).

So let me help you cut a lot of crap and bad advice out the way so you can start to experience some rewards and begin enjoying this wonderful ‘Game’ of Social Interaction (no you can’t ask Father Christmas to deliver it on the Dec 25th either)!

Back to that question; “Which are the best Routines?”

Put it like this, let’s say you want to start bodybuilding and grow your size and muscles and you were to bump into Ol Arny (Arnold Schwarzeneggar) while visiting California, you wouldn’t be able to resist would you – “Hey Arny, what routine are you using to look as good as you do?” – His response might be… “Split training 5 x per week, 2 jogs and 3x 1 hour Cardio machine, combined with Cabbage diet, low carbs and lean meats” – He might not bother to mention monthly visits to the Surgeon for botox boosters, but hey, you got good advice right! WRONG!!!!! – what you got was – What is working for him now! Remember you are starting out, so you should be asking… yep you got it… ” What did you use to GET STARTED?”… NOT “what is a good microcalibrated Opener, or when should I DLV in Qualifying? instead ask… “Dude, what Routines did you use to get you started and get some results?”.

So right now, I’m going to show you some examples of mini stacks many Master PUAs have used to get themselves going. We us mini Stack Cards with an example on the front and place for you to write your own on the back – for now you can just write this down on a scrap of paper or even in a text to yourself (great to pull out mid conversation [disinterest] check, have a laugh and return to the conversation)

What You Should Know About Your Commercial Roof

You have a commercial building in need of a roof. There are near endless options in the phone book and internet. How do you know where to start? A roofer is a roofer. Not the case! A metal roof that is very hot to the touch has a low rating; it is absorbing heat but is not releasing it again. A membrane, like TPO, that has a high thermal emittance rating will absorb heat and then release it back out. Doing this keeps the building cool. Thermal emittance is measured on a scale from 0 to 1. In addition to these benefits TPO is 100% recyclable.

EPDM is also an outstanding membrane roofing material choice. EPDM is flexible which is a benefit on flat roofs where inflexibility in materials can be a large reason behind the leaks. EPDM is ethylene propylene diene M-class rubber. As another green benefit the runoff water does not become polluted by it, so rainwater can be harvested to be reused for multiple purposes. EPDM membrane roofing's thermal properties lead in large part to lower energy costs and help it keep the building cool.

Maintenance is needed on every roof. When you will need it and how much of it is needed can greatly depend on how well that roof is installed. This is also true for the life span of a roof. A commercial roof can be expected to live in the range of 12 to 25 years. A roof's life expectancy will in part depend on the environment it is in and the traffic level it carries. Proper installation also plays a large role in how long your roof will last. With the important role the roofers in Minneapolis MN play in the install of your commercial roof, choose carefully. Your roof will have bear the brunt of all four seasons, your roofer will have a great effect on how well it does that.

Learning to Arc Weld

Up to this point, all my work has been done with the oxyacetylene torch. And I can honestly say many works to come are going to be done by way of the torch. But I have always being curious about arc welding. Especially since the weld is instantaneous because of the 10000 degree heat. This is especially useful in projects that would take a considerable amount of time to complete with a torch such as building a welding table.

So last weekend I ventured to Harbor Freight to pick up their little 8 pound inverter welder. I spent $ 200 though because I needed a good autodarkening helmet, a chipping hammer, and some magnets. I got the 2 year warranty just in case. Yes I know, many people like to give the Chinese welders a bad rap. But let me just say that this little welder is quite good considering the money. It is not meant for the professional welder who does structural work but for art purposes it suits me fine. I am using 6013 1/16 "electrodes at this time. I have noticed they are a bit shallow and sometimes on small joints I have to go over them because the first time it is only flux that really lays down. Any civilized suggestion is appreciated .

I am somewhat embarrassed to show my efforts so far but I will in a separate post as I hone my skills. But for now I will do a assessment of this technique. So let me start with the pros of arc welding. One is it is less expensive for equipment than MIG and TIG welding. Secondly, the heat is instantaneous and would be excellent for tack welding armatures and metal furniture that you can finish with oxyacetylene. Thirdly, because you are not warming up the work with a flame, the heat is highly focused and warpage is greatly reduced. Finally, this particular welder I have is very light weight and there are no gas gauges to watch over.

Now the second part of the assessment. The cons or negative aspects. Arc welding is called stick welding because the electrodes get stuck to the work. This is especially true of rusty metal, having too low an amp setting, and the end of your rod has melted flux obstructing the circuit. Second disadvantage would be the power cord. You can not use extension cords because they would reduce the amp output of your welder unless the extension cord is the same thickness or greater than the cord on the welder. Because of this I am limited to 5 feet within my outlet until I make electrical changes. And lastly the flux. I mean you really have to wack at the work with the hammer to get the flux off. How else would you know if you truly laid a good weld down?

In conclusion, taking the good with the bad, I would still like to practice more and become proficient at this. The tool and the technique are surely going to find use in my future work along with my torch. I will be able to weld steel pieces too thick for my torch with beveling and going a couple passes with the electrodes. My next installment in the arc welding series will compare the different types of electrodes.

Cool Gadgets Shopper – Why You Need A Laser Light

If you wish to technically broach the concept of LASER, the first thing you should probably learn is that LASER is an acronym and it expands to Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. It’s something like this – somebody gives you money, you become extremely excited and then you decide that you were better off when you didn’t have any money and throw it into a lake, except that there are a million other people like you dumping all their money in a lake. This way, when all the photons come together and travel in a single direction, it forms a LASER beam.

It doesn’t take much to be enthralled by small LASER sources. The cool applications that it has attracts people from all walks of life – professors, architects, engineers and builders, security forces and even kids. Why? If you have to ask why, it just means that you do not know about LASER beams. What could be cooler than having a LASER light source in your hand? You can have light shows in different colors and have a lot of fun flashing it into your neighbor’s house while he struggles to comprehend where the source of the small red dot lies. You can even stand out from the smoking crowd in lighting your cigarette with a LASER light while people are using spirit lighters.

There are different kinds of LASER pointers in the market and their size and structure depends entirely on the application for which they are to be used for. For instance, the smallest pointers are generally used by lecturers during presentations. Combination lasers can be used in LED torches and even for disco lights. If you are a clubber, you would have seen red, green and blue lights coming out from the ground for special effects while dancing at clubs. They are dual or combination Lasers. Attempts to purchase beams of a higher power capacity require you to get attested documents stating the reason for the purchase. Of course, higher-power LASER beams are expensive. The more powerful cool gadgets get, the more will be the number of questions as to the danger it poses and the legal issues that accompany it. Unless you’re a doctor performing a LASER eye surgery, you would not want to shine your LASER beam directly into a person’s eyes; this could cause permanent damage and even blindness. Shine a LASER of mediocre power at a single point for too long and you’ll notice that the target becomes warm. Shining a higher power beam directly on the skin could cause burns and heat boils. This leads us to the next question of whether it is legal; the answer lies with how you use these beams. They come really cheap; however, the catch is that you’re not going to get the product in the advertisement. So, if you’re a person who can tell between a 5mW beam and a 20mW beam, look somewhere else; if you don’t, go ahead and use auction websites. Let’s say you are a professor looking to acquire a LASER source for a spectroscopy experiment; in this case, stay away from eBay. Instead, browse through the many online forums that have LASER pointers as the core topic. K-mart, Wal-Mart and Target are good places to start while you can also visit the websites of specialty shops online to order your beam.

In order to create a proper reborn doll, the artist must first strip the plaything of it's factory coloring. Most dolls, even Berenguers, come with a waxy orange colored vinyl coating. Using acetone or other harsh chemicals the factory coating is stripped away. The artist then begins to apply their own paint, layer by layer, to give the reborn a more life like appearance. While doing so they can add realistic details like veins to the doll.

After baking in the new paint skin on the doll, the reborn artists add hand blown glass eyes, individually rooted hairs and many other elements which make the dolls insanely life like. Some of these dolls look so much like the real thing that you can not tell the difference between the doll or a real baby until you are right up close.

Once more architects begin to embrace architecture and design, you will begin to see a rebirth in the styles and different shapes of buildings. Homes will begin to lose their “cookie cutter” shape and begin to be different.

A drive down a suburban area will see homes that embrace different styles. It will be a world where differences are celebrated and people can do more than simply live in a home. They can own a unique piece of history and it can be a showcase of a living art.

Basic Scaffolding Safety Guide

Scaffolding is erected on construction sites, and is the temporary structure that is put up to enable construction workers to reach the highest parts of a new building. The erection of scaffolding is a highly specialised thing and should always be done by a qualified professional. There are contractors who specialise only in putting up scaffolding, and will be hired to work on construction sites.

Because scaffolding can reach extremely high, and is only a temporary structure, it is imperative that all safety risks are taken into consideration before it is set up.

One of the first things that needs to be checked is the ground where the scaffolding is being set up. In cold climates, extra caution should be taken that the ground for the scaffolding foundation is not frozen. If it is, and then starts to melt, then you will have to worry about the scaffolding sinking. The key focus is to have the most stable ground possible for the foundation of the scaffolding.

It is extremely important that the scaffolding is level. As the scaffolding grows and gets taller, it is important that it is checked regularly by a qualified professional to ensure that it is level. It is important that the scaffolding be supported on adjustable stands, and if it is rolling scaffold that all the castors are locked securely.

It is imperative that all scaffolding platforms are complete from front to back and with both sides meeting. Any gaps in the wood must not be larger than 25mm wide as a gap wider than this can allow tools to slip through. All open sides of the scaffolding platform must be equipped with toe boards and guardrails. Access to the scaffolding must be safe for the worker, with ladders placed in such a way that the worker will not have to climb over cross bracing.

It is very important that the front of the scaffolding is at least 14 inches away from the front of the building that is being worked on. You do not want your scaffolding to lean against the building, as this will make it less of a support.

If anything, employee safety is the most important thing with regards to scaffolding. Hard hats must be worn at all times by anyone working on or around the scaffolding. Employees should not be made to work on the scaffolding in bad weather conditions, such as heavy wind or snow. All employees utilising the scaffolding should have been given full training on how to utilise it properly. People should never be allowed to stay on the scaffolding whilst it is being moved, if it is rolling scaffold. All tools must be removed off the scaffolding at night and any heavy tools that are needed must be sent up and down the scaffolding with a hoist.

As you can see, there are many different points to remember when it comes to scaffolding. Using scaffolding incorrectly can be very dangerous, and life threatening to the people utilising it and around it. It is important that all these safety measures are adhered to strictly, and that scaffolding is always set up by a qualified person.

Horse Training – Punishment Vs Correction

Have you ever become angry at your horse? Of course you have! Everyone does. Either it's a bad day all around and the horse is simply the only living thing within a ten-mile radius, or the horse has been misbehaving so vehemently that he should be the one to take the brunt of your anger.

This is where it pays to know the different between punishment and correction.

A few years ago, I was sitting on the fence, watching two of my students ride. They were not in a lesson – just hacking their own horses – but I've always liked to keep an eye on my students during the week. One of them, a girl we're call Felicia, was becoming increasingly angry with her horse. She was working on lead changes, which we had been starting in lessons, and her horse simply was not picking up on her cues.

Finally, on about her fifteenth try, she snatched up her reins, halting the horse, and landed a resounding kick into his side with her right leg. It was so hard that the horse let out an explosive breath of air, jumped sideways away from the pressure, and Felicia, unprepared for this darting motion, fell off.

Felicia, as most teenagers do, jumped right up, not waiting for me to arrive. Seeing that she was alright, I caught the horse on the other side of the arena, then led him back to the gate. She asked me why I was taking her horse out of the arena, and I replied, "Until you can learn the difference between punishment and correction, you should not be allowed on a horse."

This might seem harsh, since Felicia was obviously frustrated, but I wanted her to learn a lesson.

In the wild, horses do not punish each other. You'll never see two horses gang up on a third to teach the outcast a lesson in manners. They do not vindictively bide their time until the right moment to strike; rather, they react instinctively as a correction. For example, when a stallion crowds a mare in the field, the mare nips the stallion on the neck or haunches to warn him that he is invading her space. It is immediate, no-nonsense, and non-judgmental.

An example of punishment would be poor Felicia. She was working hard at a training technique, and when she did not get her way after several tries in the arena, she kicked her horse. The animal did not realize he was being punished for his inability to affect a lead change; how could he have possibly connected the two incidents? Often, we mistakenly credit horses with human intelligence, assuming they know exactly what we want, and in turn, exactly what it is they've done wrong.

Correction, on the other hand, involves a positive or negative consequence directly related to the behavior.

In Felicia's situation, the horse did not understand how to do a lead change, or what she was asking. For that, there can be no real correction until he figures out what she's asking and then misbehaves anyway. We can not punish a horse for our own training deficiencies; we can only correct when they knowingly disobey.

For example, let's say that your horse refuses to stand while you mount. Let's take it one step further and add that this behavior did not start until a week ago. Every time you take him out to the arena, he walks off before you can get your foot in the stirrup. This is a negative behavior that your horse knows is wrong.

A punishment for this behavior – and an ineffective one at that– would be to slap your horse on the rump with your hand or with a crop. He does not tie the two behaviors– him walking and you hitting– together in his mind, and therefore it does not teach him anything.

The correction would be to sharply pull back on the reins, which he recognizes as the signal to stop. Then, you would go back to his head, let him stand for a moment and pet him on the neck. This is positive reinforcement for his standing. Then go to mount again, and repeat the procedure until he stands while you mount.

There are five basic rules for correction:

1. Be Quick. If you do not administer the correction right away, the horse will have already forgotten what his behavior was, and will not associate the two in his mind.

2. Be Purposeful. If you're correcting just for the sake of having something to do, or without a clear idea of your purpose, it's useless. Have a clear training purpose in mind, and work toward that purpose.

3. Be Consistent. Make sure that every time your horse perpetrates a bad behavior, you exact the exact same correction. Otherwise, your horse will be confused and will not learn whatever you are trying to teach him.

4. Be Appropriate. Slapping your horse repeatedly with a whip is inappropriate. Let the correction fit the crime.

5. Be Reasonable. This falls in line with the old adage: pick your battles. Your horse can not learn everything at once, and if you're correcting him left and right, nothing will stick.

Table Tennis Rubbers – The Elusive DHS Hurricane National and Provincial Versions

There is no doubt that the DHS hurricane II and III rubbers are one of the most popular in the world, partially because it’s so commonly used in China. No doubt the marketing and sponsoring by DHS has a lot to do with this, but the fact the many of the top Chinese players use this rubber does indicate that they have some very good properties.

It is well known that the top Chinese players may not be using the same version as the commercial version that’s available to the public. DHS has special versions of the hurricane rubbers for their Provincial and National team players. Whether these rubbers are actually manufactured differently, or whether they are hand-picked as the best ones from the production of the standard version is unknown. However according to DHS they ARE hand picked from the normal production run.

The standard commercial versions have an orange sponge for both the red and black rubbers. It is well known that there is significant variation in sponge hardness between batch to batch, or possible within each batch. This is due to different cuts of the sponge mass being used to make the individual rubbers. Sponge hardness varies within the sponge mass before the individual sponges are cut off.

DHS also produce a special commercial version with a blue sponge. This one is only made in black, because the red topsheet is too translucent, so a dark sponge would darken the red significantly, most likely beyond what’s allowed under ITTF regulations. This blue sponge is known to be a little softer and more flexible, and also reacts better with speed glue. This version is not as commonly available as it’s not part of their normal production runs.

Among DHS fans there is always talk about the national and provincial version. According to those that have tried the ‘real thing’, the sheets appear of better quality, are more flexible and have a softer sponge. There are special markings on the sponge indicating that these are special version, but the markings don’t always seem the same. They also do not come in the standard packaging, which makes sense as these rubbers are not commercially sold, so fancy packaging is not required. However there are also a lot of fakes sheet around which try to mimic the characteristics and markings on the rubber.

DHS used to sell their topsheets separately. This made it easy for the less reputable companies to add their own cheap sponge and markings, and sell it for a lot more than the commercial version. After this had been going on for several years, DHS recently decided to stop selling the topsheets separately, in order to cut down on the number of fake sheet around. There are however still a lot of fake sheets around.

According to DHS, the provincial and national versions of the hurricane rubbers are not sold to the public at all. They are only GIVEN to the national and provincial teams for their personal use. Of course there is always a big temptation for these players to make a quick buck, and sell these rubbers to other players and retailers, so this is how these rubbers find their way to the public.

According to DHS most of the provincial and national rubbers out there for sale are indeed fakes. In the last year or so more and more of these rubbers are sold by some online retailers and even on Ebay, all of course claiming them to be genuine. According to DHS these rubbers were not supplied to them by DHS, and the number of provincial and national version are quite limited, so chances are that these rubbers are not genuine. As some of these sellers are known to be quite reputable, and sell many other genuine items, it is most likely that they themselves believe the rubbers are genuine. Whether they are genuine or not, we cannot be sure.

There are ways of making the commercial versions a lot more like the provincial/national versions;

One way is to speed glue them… with enough layers to really soften them up. After this has been done a number of times, the sheet become more flexible and the sponge softer permanently… making it play a lot closer to the provincial/national version.

Another way is to use the so-called ‘super priming’ method which is a treatment of many layers of VOC based glue, which certainly has a permanent effect and works very well. It works best on the blue sponge version, but still works very well on the orange sponged version too. This is certainly a much cheaper way of getting a hurricane rubber softer and more flexible, and a lot more like the provincial/national version… and best of all you don’t have to worry about whether is genuine or not!

So is it worth paying the extra money to get a provincial or national version, without being 100% sure that it’s genuine? You be the judge…

The Balance Sheet Explained

Every business will have a balance sheet, as a standard financial reporting tool. This is used by a company as a high level view of the monetary condition of a business at a specific period in time, to enable the owners or the managers of the business to have clear visibility of profit performance. The balance sheet records the activities of a business and the structure of a balance sheet falls into two separate groups. These groups are the activities that make a profit and the activities that make a loss, an example of making a profit a profit-making activity is sales and making a loss is expenses that are needed to run a business, otherwise known as liabilities. The balance sheet will record all financial activities and these will include financing and investing activities, distributions from profit to the share holders, investments assets and depreciation and the write off of assets, either through end of life, theft or that they are no longer operational.

Profit creating activities are reported within the income statement; financing and investing activities are found within the statement of money flows. In other words, two totally different money statements are prepared for the two totally different types of transactions. The statement of cash flows reports the increase or decrease of money from profit during the year.

The balance sheet represents the balances, amounts, company’s assets, other investments and liabilities at a particular point in time. The word balance has completely different meanings at totally different times. Because it’s used in the term balance sheet, it refers back to the balance of the two opposite sides of a business, total assets on one aspect and total liabilities on the other. The balances of an account which can be recorded against assets, liabilities operating expenses, wages and accounts receivable, refer to the value of each line item and this value will go through periods of increasing and decreasing value and these values will be counter balanced within the balance sheet itself. This report should be easy to follow and have suitable descriptions of the items listed.

A business will usually schedule this report based on it requirements for either each month, each quarter, half yearly and yearly. On the yearly report this is usually prepared to reflect the operational state at the close of business on the last day of the profit period. Accountants will prepare a balance sheet at any time that it is requested, they will just need access to all of the financial information to prepare the report.

We all try to lead busy lives. Meetings in the morning, lunch with friends, taking kids to school, appointment, engagements and so much more. It seems that the more time we devote to being more productive, the less time we have in taking care of ourselves and making sure that we do not subject ourselves to potential health risks. Every day: Drink water. You've heard this before: drink 8 glasses of water daily. While several studies have already argued that 8 glasses are not the ideal requirement, you still have to make drinking water a priority. Water flushes out the toxins in your body. If you work out, the more important this aspect becomes.

Get some sleep. It will be easier for you to "pre-program" your body clock every morning so that you can wake up at exactly the same time each day. Recommended hours of sleep would be seven to eight hours, but it would still be dependent on your type of work and what makes you comfortable.

Move it! There are so many options to move and exercise even without going to the gym. Walking and playing with your dog can be a good alternative to exercise; as long as you keep moving, your body will be stronger in no time.

Every week: Timeout. Stresses of work getting you down? Then maybe you should sit back, relax and just chill for at least once a week. This does not only wonders to your physical health, it helps relax your brain and prepares you for another week ahead. Work out. Aerobic exercise of half an hour a few times each week is always beneficial to get your heart rate going.

Try something new. It has been mentioned in several studies that exposing yourself to a new location or new company can also help ease stress. Wanting to take up painting or boxing? Once a week would be perfect for you.

Every month: Detoxify. Unless you are on a strict regimen, we consciously (and unconsciously) consume fats, sugars and carbohydrates that may not be helpful to your digestive system. Eating fruits and vegetables is also an option you can try monthly. Breast check. Sometimes the worst of illnesses are not treated quickly because of patients' attempts to self-serve themselves. Doing a breast check is one of them. Make sure you complete this even when you do not feel anything out of the ordinary.

Every year: Annual check-up. An annual check up will be crucial to you for your doctors to be able to prevent any illness or infection. This may take a while so it would be best to book in advance. OB Visit. There will be several promotional activities that are related to reproduction, and you may be able to find the gynecologist that will be right for you.

The road to optimum health is not limited to this organizer. It is always best to consult your physician regularly. The earlier you can start to make small changes in your lifestyle, the quicker you can be on your path to being healthy!
