8 Flat Iron Hair Styling Tips

Hair Styling Flat Irons of today have been making its mark and are fast becoming popular in the beauty and hair care industry. Unlike the previous generations of flat irons, modern straighteners are much safer to use and are even capable of nourishing, revitalizing, and moisturizing your hair. But with lots of different hair straighteners in the market today with various specific features and functions, one may find it hard to figure out which one to use and how to effectively use it.

Here are some useful tips in order to achieve the best possible results in styling your hair with a flat iron:

1. Know your hair type – this is probably the first thing one must first consider before barging into a department store and buying yourself a flat iron. Although there are some hair styling flat irons that can be used for all hair types, there are also others that are only ideal for a specific hair type.

2. Determine the appropriate heat temperature for your hair – Probably the safest hair straighteners to use are the ones with various temperature settings. With these flat irons, you can be in control with the heat intensity your flat iron produces. A specific hair type needs a specific temperature for hair styling. An excess of which may lead to damaging your hair. Heat settings can be adjusted from low which is good for thin, fine hair types, to high which is ideal for thick, coarse ones.

3. Wet is good but, dry is better – For those who are always in a hurry, they often find themselves using their flat irons as their hair dryers at the same time. Styling with a wet hair may take some time. But with a dry hair, your flat iron can then immediately focus in styling your hair rather than drying it first.

4. Style with a comb rather than with just bare hands – Better hair styling results can be achieved if you have with you a flat iron on one hand and a comb on the other. Combs help in conditioning and firming your hair before and after it passes through the plates of your flat iron.

5. Having a flat straight style – This style is probably the simplest one to do. First, insert 2 inches of your hair section from the roots right between the plates, squeeze the handle, and then glide it slowly to the ends.

6. Soft curls are cuter – In this hair style, simply insert a two inch section of your hair between the plates, squeeze the handle, and then wind your hair around the plates as you glide the iron to the ends.

7. Flip Out is a Classic Beauty – to achieve this hair style, you just simply have to do the same first step in the first two hair styles, glide slowly the plates through your hair from the roots, and then slightly flip the plates out as you reach the ends.

8. Flip In is simple but elegant – Just simply do the same initial procedure with the other three hair styles, glide slowly the plates through your hair from its roots, and then gently flip the plates in at the ends.

Styling your hair with a straightener might just be a simple thing to do, but it is all in the matter of protecting your hair from possible damage and achieving the best results for your desired hair style.

Use of Motorcycle Helmet Intercoms

The motorcycle helmet intercom systems work with other intercoms, which creates a clear sound during communication. Motorcycle radios are very simple to use and are easy to understand! The helmet-mounted headsets with built in microphones mount right to your helmet and can talk simultaneously, unlike with ordinary 2 way radios. Learn Speed Reading – 3 Methods Revealed

There are many ways to learn speed reading. When it comes to finding these different ways, there are many options out there. Some people may just take the time to find different techniques and try them out for their selves to see if they will work.

There are other people out there who may find a program or course in their area to help them learn the various techniques and methods involved with speeding up your reading. There are some people that just do not have the time for these methods. For these people, they have the option of finding programs online in order to learn more about the methods of speed reading.

1 Skimming & Chunking

There are a few methods that are involved with speed reading. Some people choose to just skim over the information looking for pertinent information that may be useful to retain as knowledge. There are other people who use techniques such as chunking.

2 Stop Vocalizing

For these methods, it is important to make sure that they are able to comprehend the information that they are reading. A lot of times when people read, they actually take the time to vocalize words in their head. An effective method that some people use is to actually stop vocalizing in their head. This helps to eliminate a lot of time when it comes to reading. While trying these techniques at home may seem practical, there is a lot more to it than just focusing on techniques.

3 Consider a Local Course or Online Guide

Some of the best ways to learn speed reading involve taking actual courses. Courses can be found in various different areas as actual classroom based programs. These programs can often give a lot of different insight on not only the various techniques that make speed reading easier, but also help to ensure that you understand the comprehension that is involved.

Although not all areas will have programs and courses, there is always the option for finding online programs. These programs can be just as helpful, if not more helpful, than the classroom based courses.

Guide to Mechanics Tool Sets

Mechanics tools are creating big inroads into the realm of multi-tools. Diverse sets of tools are becoming incorporated into smaller and smaller devices, which have been essentially one piece, but comprise tons of distinct pieces. Toolboxes have been the former consolidators of tools after which modular tool sets arrived where the head of 1 tool piece might be appended towards body of the single piece that could fit any size head. The evolution of the mechanics tool set is taking wild turns in the advent of new technologies from around the globe that's making starting to be a mechanic as straightforward as buying just one tool. Persons are usually interested inside the hobby of home-building and household construction simply because in the do-it-yourself attitude involved, but they can rest assured that it really is less difficult, and less costly, than ever using the new multi-tools which might be evolving out of mechanics tools.

The widespread mechanics tools of your hammer, nail, and screwdriver are gradually evolving into mechanical multi-tools which can be transcending the boundaries of what individuals thought feasible with hardware goods. Extra and much more, technological know-how is even getting included so that mechanics tools, also referred to as multi-tools, could be hooked up to the pc and it is possible to discover special info vis-a-vis tutorials from the producers internet sites. Such issues had been only the stuff of science fiction a decade ago, but modern technologies is turning luddites into technocrats quicker than a multi-tool can repair a motorcycle – and more rapidly than the motorcycle can ride itself.

There are all kinds of suppliers, brands, manufacturers catalogs, categories, auto shape tools and supply, automatic mechanics tools, and featured goods and supplies awarded the ideal in show by mechanics tool sets magazines. To give you just a short sample from the types of mechanics tool sets which are out there appear at the following list and see for yourself should you want to get to the hobby of starting to be a mechanic and applying mechanics tools. You will find drill bits, extractors, tap & die, electric power tools, hand tools, jacks, lighting, lockout service tools, measuring tools, pullers, scan tools Genisys, scan tools Pegisys, and chrome socket and drive tools.

It would be just out with the ordinary to not have a toolbox for all the mechanics, but most men and women do not look into them or just go by default using the toolbox that came with the tool set inside first place. Individuals should realize that a good toolbox can inspire a lot of good work with mechanics tool sets.

Construction Civil Engineer Responsibilities

Construction civil engineers have a great deal of responsibilities in their field. They are directly responsible for the management and planning when it comes to constructing reservoirs, dams, buildings, railroads, airports, bridges, and highways. Not only do they aid in designing but they also take part in estimating costs, scheduling, planning, obtaining materials, selecting equipment used, and controlling costs.

In the field of construction civil engineer, design of the process of construction, analysis, science, and mathematics are all necessary. What is more, is that construction civil engineers are directly responsible for many of the buildings and structures you use on an everyday basis. The bridges you drive over, the tunnels you drive through, the dams you see, the homes you live in, the businesses you use, and the airports you fly out of.

There are many tasks involved in construction civil engineering, some of which are done in the office, consultant work, and others are done on the field, as a contractor. Both involve a vast amount of responsibilities and consistent communication is necessary to accomplish the goal set forth.

The consultant construction civil engineer is responsible creating documents, solving problems, organizing the project, collecting information, estimating costs and time, and drafting design. While this is an important role the field construction civil engineers is just as important. It is his responsibility to ensure that the project goes as planned and drafts are followed to specifications.

It is necessary that both the consultant and field engineer maintain constant communication throughout the project. Because both have a high level of responsibility the weight of the entire project, safety, and codes lay upon their shoulders. There are a variety of tasks involved in the field of construction civil engineer. For example, analysis of photography, information, blueprints, drawings, and maps are necessary for any project.

Software and computer knowledge is generally a requirement as well. Software programs are usually used to design structures and systems, as well as keeping with the necessary codes of construction in the country and at a local level.

Eye Doctors Should Use Alternative Treatments For Eye Floater Symptoms

Pass the Prozac for the Eye Floaters? Posterior Vitreous Detachment is a common condition, which occurs in about 75 per cent of people over the age of 65. As people get older the vitreous, a jelly-like substance inside the eye changes. This can cause posterior vitreous detachment. The vitreous is a clear jelly-like substance within the eye, which takes up the space behind the lens and in front of the retina, the light sensitive layer at the back of the eye. It is 99 percent water. The other 1 percent consists of substances, which are important in maintaining the shape and structure of the vitreous. The outer part of the vitreous (the cortex) has the highest concentration of collagen. The vitreous is attached to the retina, more strongly in some places than others.

When a Posterior Vitreous Detachment starts the outer layer of the vitreous starts exerting traction at the points where it is adhered to the retina. The firm jelly-like substance of the vitreous changes with age. The central part of the vitreous becomes more liquid and the outer part (cortex) peels away from the retina. As it comes away from the retina it can cause the symptoms of posterior vitreous detachment. Many people are never aware that they have developed a posterior vitreous detachment but some patients notice symptoms such as floaters or flashing lights. Floaters can present with many different forms varying from little dots, circles, lines, to clouds or cobwebs. Sometimes people experience one large floater, which can be extremely distracting and make reading a difficult task. The flashing lights that occur are also caused by the posterior vitreous detachment. As the outer part of the vitreous detaches from the retina it can pull on this light sensitive membrane, especially where there are strong anchor attachment points. The pull of the vitreous in these areas stimulates the retina. This stimulation causes the sensation of flashing lights since the brain interprets all stimulation of the retina as signals for light. Sudden head movements often precipitate flashes as they cause the vitreous to move inside the eye.

Can anything be done to help with the posterior vitreous detachment? Yes but not what you would probably expect. Central floaters can be extremely distracting and interfere with daily functioning when they first occur. Unfortunately at this juncture there are no good medical procedures to remove eye floaters. Fortunately most people find that the symptoms calm down after about six months and eventually they largely dissipate from awareness. While there are no good studies to substantiate the perceptual adjustment the brain makes, Optometrists have observed the brain eventually learns to ignore floaters given adequate time, except in certain lighting environments and with eye movements. Logically this makes sense because the retina extinguishes any images that remain fixed and don’t move across the eye. Normal micro-eye movements that are always present assure that the world we live in is always visible. The blood vessels inside the eye do block the retina receptor cells but move in sync with the eye since they are attached to the top of the retina. That is why during an eye examination with an eye microscope you may notice a tree branch like pattern; the light is casting shadows from the blood vessels in areas that do not occur during normal illumination. The intensity and movement of the microscope light beam creates an unnatural pattern the brain has not adapted for. Several Eye Doctors have used laser therapy to disrupt floaters but this is not currently accepted standard of care due to the associated risks of damaging the retina. Also, on rare occasions special surgery  may be done to replace the fluid inside the eye. The risk is generally not acceptable for the benefit.

What you can do once the diagnosis is certain is request treatment for the psychological disruption caused by central floaters. You will have to pursue this as your own advocate as Eye Doctors generally do not recognize how disabling central floaters can be initially. They proceed on the knowledge that it will improve on it’s own over time and no treatment is usually needed. In the interim, patients are left with a perceptual deficient and anxiety. Treatment can include stress management techniques by a Psychologist or Therapist,  (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), hypnosis, anti-anxiety medications, Selective serotonin  inhibitors medications like Prozac, or other alternative treatments to reduce anxiety and cause perceptual shifts away from the eye floater. Another possibility is fitting a tinted contact lens on the affected eye to degrade the overall image and lessen the focal awareness of a central deficit. Artificial tears transitionally used for the treatment of dry eyes can be used on a regular basis as distraction therapy.

Having something directly in your line of sight can be extremely disruptive and other than monitoring for any long-term retinal problems the primary therapy should be focused on reducing the effects of this disruption until the brain adapts. Posterior vitreous detachment does not in itself cause any permanent loss of vision. Your visual acuity should remain the same and you will be able to see just as you could before the posterior vitreous detachment started. You may have some difficulties to begin with because of the floaters and flashing lights though these do not cause permanent sight loss. The only threats to vision are the small chance of a retinal tear leading to a retinal detachment or a retinal membrane formation causing distortions in your vision. It is important to stress that retinal tears and detachments are much rarer conditions and that very few people with posterior vitreous detachments go on to develop either of these problems. Sometimes the vitreous is so firmly attached to the surface of the retina that as the jelly collapses it pulls quite strongly on the retina. In a few people this may lead to the retina tearing which in turn could lead to a loss of vision because of a retinal detachment.

Warning signs of a retinal tear or detachment could be an increase in size and number of your floaters, a change or increase in the flashing lights you experience, or a blurring of vision. If you experience any of these symptoms you should seek medical advice within 24 hours. This is particularly important if you notice a dark “curtain” falling across your vision, as this may mean that the retina has already partially detached. Early intervention may allow treatment of a tear before it becomes a detachment and increase the chances of a good recovery from a retinal detachment. It is important to remember that posterior vitreous detachment has been estimated to have occurred in over 75 per cent of the population over 65 and that while a posterior vitreous detachment does cause some disturbing symptoms it normally does not threaten sight. Your Optometrist will give you a thorough examination and dilate your eyes during your first visit. You can expect some light pressure on your eye as the sclera is depressed to see out to the edges of the retinal eye tissue. They will pay special attention to whether or not the retina is in any danger. If it isn’t then they should see you for regular eye examinations until the vitreous detaches and the period of risk is over. If you begin to experience the symptoms warning of a possible retinal detachment, such as increased or definite change in floaters, more severe flashing lights or a curtain falling over your vision don’t delay until the weekend is over, call to be seen the same day. The retina is extremely dependent on oxygen to live and postponing care 48 hours could result in blindness. Floaters can be particularly annoying. They get in the way of seeing things and can make some things difficult, for example reading a book. There is another way of trying to cope with this that some people find useful. If you move your eyes around you can create currents in the fluid within your eyes that can move the floater out of your direct field of vision. This is a strategy to use after a complete posterior vitreous detachment has occurred and the risk of retinal detachment has become minimal. Most people find that with time the floaters become less and less of a problem. In the interim, seek the type of treatment you need to deal with the perceptual and psychological sequel of the eye floaters.

Are You Wasting Money With Your Insulation?

A Connecticut university used to have a serious energy loss problem. One example of this was a valve in the mechanical room. Although hard insulation was dug out to form the shape of the valve, it still left the valve bonnet exposed, leading to significant heat loss. The temperature of the valve bonnet was 224 degrees. After installing a removable insulation cover, the surface temperature was reduced to 105 degrees. The removable insulation prevented the valve bonnet from losing 500 BTUs an hour, resulting in a savings of roughly $ 450 a year. And that's just one valve!

Choosing the Right Type of Insulation
There is no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to industrial pipe insulation. Hard or conventional insulation works well for mechanical components that do not require regular inspection or maintenance, such as smaller diameter pipes and fittings. On the other hand, removable insulation is ideal for valves, steam traps and large diameter steam piping, which often require the removal of insulation for regular maintenance.

When To Use Hard Insulation
Hard insulation, consisting of products such as fiberglass, calcium silicate or mineral wool, is commonly used to insulate most mechanical components such as pipes, fittings and valves. But as we saw in the previous example, it's not always the best tool for the job. Conventional pipe insulation can come with or without an outer covering, usually consisting of a paper or foil backing. In some cases these materials are covered with either a metal or PVC jacket. Hard insulation is suitable for the following components:

  • small diameter pipes and fittings
  • mechanical components that do not require regular inspection or maintenance

When NOT To Use Hard Insulation
As noted above, conventional insulation is not well suited for mechanical components that require routine maintenance, such as valves, steam traps, flanges or large diameter steam piping. These components are rarely (or in most cases only temporarily) insulated.

In many cases valves are initially insulated. However, over time maintenance personnel strip off the insulation for inspection or maintenance. It's not uncommon for the insulation to remain on the floor and the valve or steam trap to never get reinsulated. The surface temperature on these un-insulated components can very from a couple hundred degrees up to several hundred degrees. As a result, in some cases mechanical room temperatures have reached in excess of 120 degrees and a vast amount of energy is wasted.

Removable Insulation Pads
Where valves, flanges and steam traps require routine inspection it is beneficial to have insulation that can easily be taken off and reinstalled. Removable insulation pads are ideal for this job. These removable pads consist of silicon impregnated cloth, needled fiberglass insulation, Kevlar thread, Velcro and well placed straps and snaps. The removable pad allows maintenance personnel to go into a mechanical room, remove the insulation, inspect or repair the mechanical component and easily reinstall the insulation pad. This prevents further heat loss and creates a safer work environment.

Common areas where removable insulation pads should be used are:

  • Valves
  • Steam Traps
  • Flanges

Valves
Like in the case with the Connecticut university, valves are a common opportunity to save energy and money with removable insulation.

Steam Traps
Steam traps rarely get insulated because of the amount of maintenance that they require. There are no hard insulation products for insulating steam traps. Because they typically go uncovered a tremendous amount of heat loss occurs. In the steam trap case, removable insulation pads are the only alternative.

Flanges
Typically flanges are not insulated. Conventional insulation is made to abut the flanges, leaving the flange itself uncovered. This leads to significant heat loss. This is another situation where removable insulation is ideal.

Conventional insulation serves an important purpose, such as insulating mechanical components that do not require routine inspection. However, conventional insulation is not the best alternative when it comes to mechanical components that require routine maintenance. The removable and reusable insulation pad is the best alternative, providing maintenance professionals an easy way to remove and reinstall the insulation.

How to Lose Weight and Gain Energy FAST – The Seven Things I Did to Lose 20 Pounds in 30 Days

In this article I am going to talk about what you quickly need to do to lose the weight & gain the energy, safely and fast, really fast, because the summer is upon us. So I am just going to tell you what to do. The reasons and more details on how will be in other articles.

So in order to lose weight fast, and gain energy fast, and do it safely, I am going to give you seven ways to do that right now!

The first thing I want you to do is stop poisoning your body. This means you are putting in stuff that requires acid to break it down. You do not want to put in stuff that requires acids to break down, in your body. You do not want acids in your body at all because the cells start to hold onto fat to protect the cells from the acid. So we have to get rid of the acid.

We need to stop putting it in and neutralize whatever is in your system right now. The very first thing is that we have to stop poisoning our bodies with acid, and we have to stop, reduce, or eliminate the following things: animal products, dairy, sugar, flour, bad fats, diet soda (yes, Diet Coke) , caffeine (yes I know, Starbucks), we have to eliminate that right now if we want to lose the weight and gain energy fast.

The second thing is that we need to do is hydrate our bodies like a fireman! We have to start putting water in our bodies like we are trying to put out a fire. Drink half your body weight in ounces. If you weigh 160 lbs. drink 80 ounces of water a day! The best way to do that is with a little lemon in it.

Third thing is: breathe deeply! Learn how to breathe deeply, meaning instead of just breathing where you hold up your chest like this, I want you to stick out your stomach, like this. There is another one third of your lungs that is covered by your diaphragm. If you do not do that you will not get a full breath. Do this 10 breaths like this 3 times per day in a 1-4-2 count. If you are going to breathe in for 4 sec. hold it for 4 times that which is 16 sec. and then breathe out for 8 sec. Do a 1-4-2: 4 sec. in, 16 sec. held, then 8 sec. of breathing it out.

The fourth thing I want you to do is alkalize your body. We have to neutralize the acids that are in the body, and hopefully we are not putting in any more acids than are already there, so we want to alkalize the acids that are already in your body and eat alkalizing food that does not leave an acid ash in the body. Things like avocados are alkaline type foods. Avocados, grapefruit, almonds, lemon, vegetables, foods that are alive.

Five, We want to eat a lot of water-content, alkalizing foods that are low in sugars. We want to eat a lot of lettuce, cucumber, celery, cauliflower, spinach, tomatoes, avocados. I eat 2 avocados a day!

Number six is that we want to get some good fat, again, avocado is where you get this good fat. Do not worry about the fat content in avocados, it's good for you and will also suppress your appetite. So when I go for good fat I get it from almonds, sesame seeds, Udo's Omega-3 & Omega-6 oils, and avocados.

Number seven, spice things up! When I use my avocados I make guacamole with them. I add tomatoes, garlic, onions, lemon, & lime. It's awesome! I will eat it with organic corn chips from the Whole Foods store. They are made with sunflower oil and Baltic sea salt, both things I recommend.

And here is bonus one for you, so I guess that makes bonus number 8. Keep it real, keep it balanced! If you do this for 95% of your diet, 95% of what you do and eat in your day and in your month, then for the other 5% you can go to Cold Stone Creamery and get a "like-it" cup of cake batter ice cream, which is my favorite thing to do! Since about 6 or 8 bites is plenty for me, I ask them for the "kiddid-cup" size. I do this once a week, and although I know dairy products are difficult to digest and create acids in the body, this is a small part of my diet.

But because of the rest of your diet, your body will be able to release the fat that is surrounding your cells to protect them from all of this acid, and you will lose 5, 10, 15, 20, I finally plateaued at 25 pounds because I got down to my ideal waist size by losing 25 pounds, and we will talk all about this and more on other articles and videos.

Gotta go, welcome to summer! Go and live with energy!

The Real Skin Rejuvenation – A DIY Guide

Whether it is the gradual loss of skin tone, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, sagging skin, or a combination of these concerns, most of us (and by “us” I mean most people on the wrong side of 40) would like to find that magic wand that will reverse all signs of aging. That magic wand is yet to be discovered, but there’s something we can do to delay and even reverse to some extent the damage our lifestyle and the sheer passing of time have done to our skin.

A facelift is said to be rejuvenation, but it is only superficial. It involves the removal of sections of the skin, pulling the remainder of the skin tight and possibly shortening underlying muscles to hold the skin in place. No real rejuvenation takes place, but rather we create the “appearance” of rejuvenation.

The real skin rejuvenation causes changes at the cellular level of the skin, which improve the various functions and the appearance of the skin.

So what can we do to achieve this change and truly rejuvenate our skin? It may sound quite basic, but here it is:

  • Encourage new skin cell growth
  • Neutralize skin damaging free radicals
  • Encourage collagen production
  • Increase the skin’s moisture content
  • Improve the skin’s ability to protect itself

And now the big question: HOW do we achieve that?

Believe it or not, there’s a lot you can do from the comfort of your own home and you don’t even need to break the bank. So let’s take them one by one.

1. You can encourage new skin cell growth through exfoliation. Exfoliation means eliminating the outermost layer of dead skin cells and is one of the most basic and important steps in stimulating new cell growth. Exfoliation can be accomplished through a mechanical method (scrubs or microdermabrasion) or through chemical means (products containing Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA), for instance).

2. When it comes to neutralizing skin damaging free radicals, antioxidants are the buzz-word in the skin care world. Apart from consuming foods rich in antioxidants, topical antioxidants are vital in boosting the skin’s natural protection from free radical damage. Strong antioxidants have been shown to provide several benefits to our skin:

  • Add a youthful glow to your skin increasing hydration and tone
  • Maintain collagen levels
  • Protect from future signs of aging
  • Improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin
  • Reduce the appearance of age spots and discoloration

Antioxidants usually work like sponges that soak up or quench free-radicals, which makes their activity quite limited. Medik8’s Firewall, on the other hand, works not only like a sponge but also like an enzyme pump. It sucks-up free-radicals, converts them into bi-products and then expels them from the system. It can process millions of repeated conversions before losing activity, making it more effective than other well known products.

3. The next step is to encourage collagen production. Retinol has been shown in several clinical trials to combat common skin-ageing concerns such as facial wrinkles, lines, folds and a loss of firmness by stimulating collagen and hyaluronic acid production. Retinol has also been proven to improve skin clarity and texture, promote anti-pigmentation plus demonstrate anti-acne and pore-minimizing effects, all leading to a more youthful skin appearance. What more could you ask for?

4. Moisturizing is an extremely important element in any facial rejuvenation regimen. Moisturizing not only hydrates but also locks in the skin’s own natural moisture content and helps the skin’s overall ability to heal and protect itself.

Some of the most important ingredients to look for when selecting a moisturizer are Pantothenic Acid, also known as vitamin B5 and Hyaluronic Acid. The Pantothenic Acid effectively enhances the skin’s moisture-retention capacity as well as promoting skin rejuvenation and wound healing, whilst the Hyaluronic Acid is capable of holding up to 1000x its own weight in water and hence helps to restore critical moisture to dehydrated skin, increase skin’s suppleness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.. Pantothenic Acid is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and an anti-itching active, helping to soothe stressed irritated skin.

5. Last, but not least, sunscreen is an indispensable part of any anti-aging strategy. Physical sunscreens (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) provide much better anti-aging benefits than chemical sunscreens because physical sunscreens, work by reflecting the photons of light up and out of the skin so there is no absorption of energy. Unlike chemical screens, the physical sunscreen type of photoprotection produces no free radicals and no secondary skin damage, whereas the chemical ones prevent a larger degree of the initial sun damage but allow secondary free radical damage, which adds to the speed of the skin aging process..

I know it’s always easier said than done, but what should a good daily rejuvenating skin care regimen look like?

Here are the recommended regimens with two of my favourite brands:

Not The Salt Of The Earth

When It Rains, It Pours …. Chemicals

Major companies dry salt in massive kilns where temperatures approach 1200 degrees F. This alters the chemical structure of salt as sodium chloride is lost into the air and transformed into a gas. Salt IS sodium chloride! All that is left is sodium hydroxide: a known irritant.

When table salt is refined, 82 out of the 84 mineral elements are extracted. Why, if these elements are so good for you, do the salt refineries do this? Normally, only 7% of the refined salt ends up on your table. The majority of the salt has great commercial value and is sold for industrial use.

Since the high heat has removed all of salt's essential minerals, let's see what man adds before he sells it to you:

Potassium Iodide – to avoid iodine deficiency

Glucose – a type of sugar to stabilize the iodine

Magnesium Carbonate – an anti caking element

Aluminum Silicate – to keep the salt porous and powdery …. note the word 'aluminum' and remember its association with Alzheimer's Disease as aluminum is highly toxic to our nervous system and is not meant to be in our bodies.

A Science Test Even A Child Can Do

Want to know what is happening in your body to the chemical slurry that major manufacturers call salt?

Try this simple and quick test: Take a glass that you can see through and add a large spoon of your 'manufactured' salt. Add water, stir and let sit on the countertop overnight.

Next morning, what do you see? See the 'salt' at the bottom of the glass? That is the nutrition-less and chemical laden mixture that you spent money on at the grocery store. If it can collect in the bottom of a glass of water, where is it collecting in your body? If it is not dissolving in the glass, it's not dissolving in your body.

Note: REAL salt dissolves.

Pass The Salt … The REAL Salt!

Before you only think of salt as being 'bad' and being responsible for high blood pressure, take a look at it's benefits:

Real salt, as strange as it may seem, is essential for the regulation of blood pressure

Real salt plays a crucial role in stabilizing irregular heartbeat

Real salt helps extract acidity and toxins from the cells in our bodies: especially our brain cells

Real salt can dissolve calcium deposits which create health issues in our bodies

Real salt controls the volume of water in our bodies, regulating the delicate balance between body fluids and cells, while maintaining electrolyte balance as well

Real salt is a strong antihistamine helping to prevent muscle cramping and can help clear congestion in the sinuses

Real salt is essential in balancing sugar levels in the blood

Real salt is a natural hypnotic and helps to regulate sleep

Real Salt Is Unrefined

What is real salt?

Sea salt that is dried on the shore and put into bottles and jars with minimal handling

Salt mined from the earth and put into bottles and jars with minimal handling

Salt that has not been heated, treated and does not have added chemicals

The properties of mined salt and sea salt are: 84 different mineral elements. These same minerals are found in our body. Remember the refined salt at the beginning of this article? 82 of the 84 minerals were removed.

Loss of these minerals creates a dietary deficiency, which can lead to serious disorders of the nervous system, brain damage, muscle damage or other serious illnesses. The minerals in real salt can help prevent cancer, exhaustion, memory loss, rapid aging, obesity, water retention, ulcers, poor teeth and bones, decreased sex drive, and other serious conditions.

Now do you still want to eat the 'refined' chemicals that they call table salt

Homemade Energy Bar Recipe

Energy bars take up almost as much space on the isles of grocery stores and gas stations as candy bars. They provide a quick fix of calories for people on the go, or the athlete who needs extra fuel. The bars are typically high in protein, though many contain high amounts of corn syrup and sugars as well. Energy Bars come with names like “Splendor Berry,” “Cocoa Supreme,” and “Peanut Surprise.” But these products contain more “surprise” and less natural ingredients like peanuts, cocoa, or berries. In fact, the modern energy bar is such a potent lab development of artificial sweeteners and designer whey that the actual product barely resembles or tastes like anything that could come out of the ground…

Which is why you should make your own energy bars. Natural, organic, high protein energy bars. And this is a recipe for one of the best.

Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup sesame seed meal
  • 0.25 cup almond butter
  • 0.25 cup coconut oil (can be found at health food store or higher quality grocery stores)
  • 0.5 cup almonds (chopped or slivered)
  • 0.5 cup pecans
  • 0.5 cup dried blueberries
  • 0.25 shredded coconut (unsweetened)
  • 0.5 teaspoon natural honey
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Toast nuts and shredded coconut on a baking sheet. During baking, give the sheet a good shake occasionally to flip shreds for a more even toast. Blend the mixture in a food processor until ingredients are thoroughly chopped and pulpy.

Microwave the almond butter and coconut oil together for about 30 seconds. Stir until the mixture becomes gooey and smooth. Mix the honey, salt, and pure vanilla extract into the almond butter/coconut oil. Fold the sesame seed meal and nut mixture into the “goo” and mix vigorously. Add the blueberries, and keep mixing vigorously.

Flatten the mixture into a 4 x 8 bread or loaf pan. Refrigerate for thirty minutes. The mixture should be thick, but not brittle. Cut into 6 bars, or for kicks, slice up into “cookie cutter” shapes like stars and hearts for the kids.

The great thing about these energy bars is that they are naturally low in carbohydrates. Yet, they still provide that calorie kick as well as healthy nuts and fats associated with a high protein diet. It’s perfect for the carb counter who’s looking for a boost of energy without overloading on sugar. If this is up your alley, check out these healthy nut recipes for more high protein options.

Best Golf Tip Ever!

The "best tip ever". Wow, that sounds like something does not it? Better than the tip about not looking up until you hear the ball fall into the hole on short putts? Could it be that good? (I always thought that to be the dumbest tip myself. If you do miss, you have no more information on the next putt than you had on the one you just missed because you were not watching! How dumb is that?

Anyway, back to the best tip ever …

Just send $ 19.95 and I'll send you my cd .. just kidding! Here it is:

This move involves dropping the right elbow into your right side as your first move on the downswing. You want to bring your right elbow into your side so that you can actually feel it lightly touch your shirt. What this does is keep you on the inside path to the ball, preserves your wrist cock, and eliminates that over the top move that been causing all those banana balls and cursing fits you've been having all these years.

What you are doing is dropping into the infamous "slot". Watch the pro's swing. They almost seem to "drop" a hair as they transition from the back swing to the downswing. The legs squat just a bit, and their is a slight pause as the club changes direction. At that pause is when you think "bring that elbow down as I start the downswing. Down, NOT OUT!

Most of us "fire from the top" in an effort to clobber the ball. It seems like the more powerful move, but it absolutely is not. Problem with this move is that it immediately starts un cocking your wrists, while throwing your arms away from your body. The result is an over the top, outside in swing, with most of the power spent long before you get to the ball. By keeping your elbow tucked into your right side, you automatically swing from the correct inside to inside path, and you'll maintain most of your wrist cock until the last minute. As Emerald would say, "BAMM!"

Take your time on the downswing. Swing hard !, but let it progress. You're first move should be a little drop motion as your right elbow pulls down into your right side. Now that you're in "the slot", get ready to let her ride! Release the hands hard at impact and feel the resulting power. If you've never hit a shot from "the slot" before, you're in for a treat, and a good 20 or more yards off the tee.

Not a bad tip huh?

How to Build the Best Pinewood Derby Car

Since 1953, the Pinewood Derby has been a major event of the Cub Scouts. In 2006, Reader’s Digest magazine included the event in its list of America’s 100 Best. If you want to be competitive in the next Pinewood Derby, here are some tips for building the best possible Pinewood Derby Car.

1. Check the wheels

What should you check? While your car wouldn’t perform well with square wheels, it’s also important that the wheels are perfectly round. This will give you the best chance during the race. Also, examine the wheels and axles for burrs. If you find some, then remove them immediately.

2. Polish the axles

You can finish this task more efficiently if you get another person to help you. While it requires some time and effort, it’s certainly worthwhile.

3. Sketch your car before creating it

Even if your future car’s design is in your mind, it’s crucial that you first put it on paper or in a computer file. This will help you to tweak the car’s design until perfecting it.

4. Provide enough time for the final coat to dry

This will prevent sticky paint from sticking to the wheels. To speed up the paint-drying process, apply several light coats rather than heavy ones.

5. Learn the rules

The Pinewood Derby rules were meant NOT to be broken. For instance, it’s important to learn the limits that the Boy Scouts of America places on the car’s dimensions and weight. These limits are subject to change, so review them each year before you start designing your Pinewood Derby car. There are other crucial rules that you’ll need to follow, such as those regarding how you make your car faster. Keep in mind that your car’s speed becomes irrelevant if you break any of the official Pinewood Derby rules.

6. Add lubricant to the wheels

Some options include penetrating oils, talcum powder, and graphite powder. Do some experimenting to determine which method is most effective for you.

7. Get the weight right

It’s crucial that your car not exceed the weight limit. Remember that you’ll be adding paint and putty to the car, so their weights should be included in the overall weight. The putty is for places on the car where you added the weights, and other locations where it’s necessary. Also, while you don’t want to exceed the car’s weight limit, try to get as close to it as possible. You can do that by adding lead weights to your car.

8. Put the center of gravity on the rear wheels

This will allow you to make one of the wheels in the front a little higher than the other wheel. Then you can roll on three wheels, instead of on four. That’s a big plus, since less energy will be needed.

9. Reshape the wheels (if allowed)

You’ll need to secure a mandrel to reshape the wheels. Virtually any approach will be effective, since it will lower the wheels’ mass. Thus less energy will be needed to turn them.

A Wrench Holder For Every Task

If you’re like most people who do a lot of work around the home and garage you have a collection of tools you have gathered for decades. Unfortunately as critical as they are, all too often it’s easy to just leave our tools scattered in the toolbox which basically ensures that it will take a lot longer to find a given tool then it should. Aside from generally being a nuisance this actually extends the length of time required to do even the most basic job, as more time might be spent looking around than is actually used to accomplish whatever it is you’re trying to do.

One mark of a professional mechanic is organization, and if you spent any time at all in a garage you will see how much it is worth to these pros to keep everything boxed up or otherwise arranged. This is not about being a neatness freak: it’s about not getting distracted from whatever you’re trying to fix by the hassle of looking around for a tool. Wrench holders are one of the ways that someone with a lot of tools can stay organized. Depending on how you work, there are several different kinds and most mechanics have more than one. If you’re not sure what sort of wrench holder would suit you best, here is an overview of the most popular types:

A wrench wrap is popular as an easy way to transport between 10 and 20 ranches simply by wrapping them in a heavy cloth, canvas or leather holder of this kind. Unlike a box or other methods, wrenches that are tightly wrapped don’t bang against each other and are tightly held until they are needed.

If you’re looking for a cheap solution, take a look at one of the many heavy-duty plastic wrench holders on the market; they may not be the most aesthetically pleasing tool boxes you’ll ever find but they will do the job for less money. In theory this means you would have more cash left over to buy better quality tools! Especially if you don’t have all that many wrenches and do most of your work at home in your own garage, a wrench holder made of strong plastic might be fine for you.

A great way to stay organized is to take advantage of vertical wall space that you have in your work area, and pegboard wrench holders are ideal for this. As easy as it is to buy yourself some pegboard and cheap metal or plastic inserts that you use to hold your wrenches and other tools, plenty of mechanics use this as a way to stay organized as well as accommodate tools. The beauty of having things on the wall, in addition to getting things out of the toolbox so that there is less in there to rummage through, is that you can hang the wrenches you use most often on the pegboard so that you have maximum access to everything.

A variation on the pegboard wrench holder is a magnetic holder for your wrenches. Some people might like the cleaner look that a magnetized vertical surface presents in their work area; either way getting tools out of the box and onto the wall can only save you time.

A wrench caddy is another way to keep the tools in the air in front of you, as it holds one end of your wrenches, leaving your easy access to the other end. Along with wall-mounted solutions a caddie might not be the best way of holding your wrenches if you travel around a lot to different job sites.

A wrench carrier that also bears mention is a spud wrench holder, which plumbers would normally use for these specialized plumbing wrenches. These are often made of very heavy-duty leather, sometimes reinforced with rivets, that the plumber can put his belt through so as to easily carry two or three wrenches.

What Inspires You?

Have you ever thought? What inspires YOU? What is it that drives you day in and day out? What is it that inspires you?

We think of creative people as being inspired and ask about their work. What inspired you to paint, draw, produce this piece of work? What inspired you to make this? Usually the answer is: a book, poem, film, experience, person, a place or in Cole Porter’s case the ‘phone call from the director’.

Something else or someone else inspired the artist, the songwriter. But what about the person in a regular job? What inspires you?

“Inspiration is a desire to live life without flinching. To take a risk and possibly fail.

To act on your emotions, creativity, ability and beliefs. To take criticism but have the faith in yourself to do it anyway. Bloody hard work, but then hard work never

killed anyone (or so my Dad says). Oh, and I find foster parents inspiring.

They pick up the pieces when the fundamental teachings and rules of our society fail. If I were religious I’d ask God to bless em.”

Carolyn Tomley

(Sydney Morning Herald website).

What is it that inspires you?

You can begin to see that if nothing inspires you or excites you or lights up your life you are really missing something. You are just like a robot performing task after task. We believe that deep down you have a place where you can be touched. You have a place that is solely ours. Solely for you to show the world. Can you name it?

What inspires me, is the thought that I am more than my body. My limitations are only down to my thoughts. Thus I want to keep pushing the boundaries to find out what is there. Find out what I can communicate to the world. I am inspired by the fact that through what I do I may enable another person to open their mind. To remove the blinkers and reach their possibilities.

Julie is inspired by life. All that is around her. To Julie, inspiration is a rush of adrenalin, a rush of energy that creates a clearing in her thinking. It’s that time when you see something from a different perspective and say to yourself, Why didn’t see it like this before?

For Julie, inspiration is like the prisoner who says you can do whatever you like to my body but you can’t touch my soul, my reason for living.

But what inspires you? What makes you go to that space where you continue to do what you do for hour after hour, when you forget the need to eat and drink. What is it that inspires you?

Some artists suggest that it is their imagination that inspires them. The need to tell the world what is going on in their heads. The links that they make. The different ways of viewing the world. After all literature, music and visual arts are all about the originator communicating with the rest of us.

So inspiration appears to be linked with the need to communicate with others. It may not be in words. But we feel it is about communication. What about you? What are you inspired to communicate?

Inspiration is linked to innovation. To introduce new ways of seeing things. Inspiration is a way of understanding the essence of ourselves. Understanding who we are and what we dream about. Whatever it is that inspires you, it is the core of your very being. So what is it?

Perhaps the role of inspiration is to wake us up from a big sleep. A sleep where everyday is the same. Where we contribute to the world but at the same time we don’t contribute because there is nothing of us in there. Perhaps the role of inspiration is to get us to become involved with the world rather than be a bystander, an observer.

This was definitely the situation for Alice Foote MacDougall, an American Business woman before the second world war. Like many of her era she was driven by her husband’s financial failure and the necessity of supporting her three young children.

…the opportunity offered by life to women is far in excess of any offered to men.

To be the inspiration is more than to be the tool. To create the world,

a greater thing than to reform it.

When we tap into whatever it is that inspires us we become a full member of society. We are able to share our ideas, thoughts and emotions. As we share and show our dreams, emotions and ideas and thoughts then we gradually become to understand the person we truly are.

So, the role of inspiration is more than we first thought. More that just a drive to action. It actually enables you to understand the very essence of yourself and what you have to offer the world.

Inspiration gives you understanding.

Inspiration gives you an identity.

Inspiration gives you a way of being.

Can you really live without knowing what inspires you?

Good luck

Graham and Julie
