No body likes to have excess hair on their body. Be it females or for that matter even males these days are conscious about their appearance and want to get rid of excess hair growth. There are different types of body hair removers that one can try and some of them even give permanent results.

Before knowing the different methods it is important that you understand your skin type and the option that would suit you.

To help you decide which method would be the best they are listed below:

• Laser / Pulsed Light: This method has gained a lot of popularity along the years. This method uses pulsed light or laser that is directed towards destroying the hair root. It is a permanent method. However to get a laser treatment done you need meet a dermatologist who would suggest whether you are an ideal candidate to undergo this treatment or not. Moreover you would have to attend a minimum of 5-6 sessions to undergo this treatment for permanent hair removal.

• Depilatories: This method takes into use a thioglycolate a chemical which when mixed with calcium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide melts the hair. When depilatory is applied on the surface where removal is desired it forms a jelly, which is removed later. However before making the use of depilatory you should test it on a small area of your skin to check whether it results in any kind of adverse reaction.

• Electrolysis: This is considered as the best methods for permanent body hair removal. This method uses tiny needles that are slid down the hair follicle to the cells that result in hair growth and destroys it. This process can be painful and hence local anesthetic creams are used to make it easier for the individual.

• Waxing: This is the age-old method for body hair removal. These days there are different varieties of waxes available like the soy-based ones that are non-sticky as compared to the honey base wax. Waxing can be tried by individual themselves however should be done under hygienic conditions.

• Tweezing: This is the best process for small areas like eyebrows and upper lips. This body hair remover process pulls out the hair from the root. But the process has no effect on the follicle. Hence the hair grows back after some days.

• Shaving: This can be done using a normal razor or an electric one. This process however does not affect the hair follicle and also does not remove the hair from the root. It is as good as cutting the hair from the base of the skin, which means that it has temporary effect.

The various options for body hair removal mentioned above are the best available. However, the option should be chosen carefully and should be within the best combination of skin type, the area, time available and not to forget the cost of the method.

How To Remove Lime Deposits From Fish Tank Aquarium

There is nothing more irritating than not being able to see the comings and goings in your fish tank. Watching the interactions of fish and other marine animals can be relaxing, educational and help you to monitor the condition of the tanks inhabitants. When the glass or other parts of the aquarium, like the heater or lights, begin to develop white stains on them you need to act swiftly to remove them. But what exactly are the white stains ? Why do they appear and how can you remove them for good ?

The white stains are lime deposits or calcium and magnesium carbonate. Lime deposits form when the water that is used is described as hard water. Hard water is water that has a higher than normal amount of minerals in it. These minerals are mainly calcium and magnesium that derive from limestone or chalk in the case of calcium and dolomite in the case of magnesium.

Although the water is safe for the marine life in your fish tank, the white stains make the fish tank unsightly. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about the water if you live in an area that has hard water. However it is very easy to remove limescale.

Lime scale or calcium carbonate reacts with any acid to form carbon dioxide. This has the effect of dissolving the white stains. Many standard household cleaning products will remove calcium carbonate but it is not advised to use them on your fish tank. These products generally have many chemicals which may harm your fish. The simplest solution is to use vinegar or even lemon juice on the glass and other equipment during a normal cleaning cycle as this will remove the lime scale but will not affect the marine life.

If the water has a lot of calcium or magnesium then you will have to do this every time you clean the tank but it is quite easy and fast to do.

Awesome Makeshift Bar Ideas

Building a bar can be fun and it doesn’t take much money. Purchasing a bar can be a bit more expensive. In fact, it can get in the ridiculously stratosphere range. Makeshift bars are the way to go if you are right in between, and they don’t have to look like it.

There are plenty of ways to class up the joint with makeshift home bars. You’d be surprised what all you can do with a few pieces of furniture or even off-the-wall items you never thought to use.

When I first saw this idea, it was a table no more than a serving tray placed on a stand sitting strategically against the wall. A few bottles of different brands were displayed with a flower vase and a set of glasses. I remember thinking to myself that it was the simplest and yet, the most elegant idea I had ever seen.

I might have been going overboard with my emotions at the time, but that’s how I felt. Maybe it was the rest of the scene that applied that much reaction. It was outside on the back patio sitting right under the kitchen window.

Since then, I have seen different variations of the same thing. Once, I saw a narrow table sitting against the wall with an ice bucket and a wider assortment of spirits and wines. Then, I saw a dining room table used in the same manner. I guess with your own imagination, this idea can take any form you desire.

Wall Bar

This was too unique to leave out as a suggestion. A friend of mine had a small bookshelf that he bought years ago before he got married. But of course, with marriage came the changes in the household composition and the bookshelf was retired to the garage.

One day, a bright idea came from my friend’s head. He decided that he would take that bookshelf and use it as a wall bar. He took the shelves out of it. Then, turned it sideways and hung it on the wall like that. It provides two shelves for his bar where he can have small bottles on the bottom shelf and larger ones on the top.

China Cabinet

In yet another marriage scenario, we have the birth of the china cabinet bar. A friend of mine bought his wife a new china cabinet. You would think that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever heard. But, he had ulterior motives. He wanted the old china cabinet.

There wasn’t anything he had to do with it, but move it to another room. I thought it was a great idea. So, I tried to buy my wife a new china cabinet. That idea backfired when I mentioned what I was thinking of doing and she had a much better idea of what to do with our money. Next time, I’ll just go ahead and make the purchase before consulting with her about it.

It doesn’t always have to be the most elaborate plan in the world. Having a home bar can be as easy as using some creativity and eyeing something that you haven’t thought of before. In a world going green, I can’t think of a better way to recycle.

Antique Gun And Powder Flask Repairs

In good condition, these guns are valuable antique collectors' pieces. Others that require a bit of work can often be cleaned and restored by amateurs. Cast-metal parts or wooden blanks, which can be shaped to replace damaged or missing stocks, can be obtained from specialist suppliers. Even old gunpowder explodes, so be sure that any gun being repaired is not loaded. Insert the ramrod, or a length of wood, into the barrel to check if there is any obstruction. If there is, remove it with a modern shotgun-cleaning rod that has a screw tip, or use an ordinary steel screw soldered to a stiff piece of wire. Screw the rod gently into the obstruction and pull it out like a cork. Wash the barrel with hot water and dry it.

To dismantle the gun, first half-cock it, then remove the screw which holds the cock (in the flintlock) or the hammer (in the percussion type) and slide it off. Unscrew the pan-cover pivot and screw securing the spring beneath the pan: remove the parts. Unscrew the holding bolts or screws and remove the lock-plate. Several screwdrivers may be needed: the blade must fit each screw or bolt slot exactly so as not to burr the screw or bolt. If they are hard to remove, applying a bit of penetrating oil will do the trick. To dismantle a flintlock mechanism, loosen the four screws that hold the mainspring, sear, searspring and the bridle. Compress the mainspring (in a small hand vice), take out the spring screw and remove the spring. The pin at the rear of the mainspring engages in the lock-plate and the other end of the spring engages in the toe of the tumbler.

Remove rust with fine emery paper or powder. Make sure to remove all abrasive powder after cleaning. Smear all parts with petroleum jelly and reassemble. Press the tumbler down to the fired position so that the end of the mainspring goes over it. Put the cock on and pull it back to the half-cocked position so that the tumbler toe compresses the mainspring. Refit the rest of the pieces in reverse order to removal.

To clean the barrel, first remove it from the stock. A metal extension of the barrel – the tang – runs into the stock. Remove the tang screws and any retaining bands or pins. The trigger guard, butt cap and ramrod pipes are screwed or pinned and must be removed with extreme care. If the screws do not yield to penetrating oil, leave them alone – it will be a job for an antique restorer to drill them out. Barrels and other metal parts can be cleaned with a mixture of oil and paraffin. Re-polish all parts with progressively finer abrasives; finish with jewellers' emery or crocus paper. Some barrels may have been blued to prevent rust and, special bluing fluid can be bought from a gunsmith. Try not leaving fingerprints on the barrel as this causes rusting.

Clean the stock with steel wool and linseed oil. If the stock is broken, mend with epoxy resin mixed to a paste with matching stained sawdust. If the stock is beyond minor repairs, a new stock may be fashioned with an entirely new piece of wood. Small dents in the stock can be extracted by using hot steam from an iron. Place a cloth over the dent and apply the hot iron.

Powder flasks were made in hundreds of designs and several materials. However, the majority of antique flasks were made pear-shaped and made from tin, brass or Britannia metal. Metal flasks were usually made in two halves soldered together. If the seam has parted, find out what alloy the flask is made of before trying to re-solder it. A simple test is to put a few drops of water in a cup and add an equal number of drops of nitric acid, obtainable from a chemist. Put a drop of the solution on the metal to reveal the colour. Red-brown indicates bronze; yellow and yellow-red, brass; dark grey, pewter; and bright silver-grey, Britannia metal. To polish the antique flask, use the technique appropriate to the material it is made of. Many powder flasks have very fine detailed etchings, embossings or engravings that give them their unique look. An antique gun without its matching or specific powder flask loses its appeal when antique collectors are looking to add to their collection.

Protecting Your Home Against the Winter

Keeping warm in the winter is vital and we have to do everything in our power to do so, whether we use central heating, double glazed windows or a combination of heating technologies. However, what else can we do to help insulate our homes? What can we do to minimise our use of these resources, which would result in your home being more environmentally friendly and that is exactly what we all should be doing. Just remember that if you do make any altercations to your home that might affect your home insurance policy you need to get in touch with your UK home insurance provider to notify them.

Preparing for storms

If you live in an area that is known for having quite a stormy winter then here are some tips to ensure your (and your house’s ) safety.

o Find and secure (or replace if necessary) any loose tiles (roof, etc), pipe work and/or guttering

o Keep your garden furniture indoors when you’re not using it

o Inspect your fencing and if it’s not 100% secure you need to ensure that it is BEFORE a storm arrives

o Check your garden for any noticeable debris (big branches, etc) that might be scattered across your garden

o If thunderstorms are a problem in your area it is most advisable that you invest in a lightning conductor to ensure the survival of your home during big thunderstorms

o Inspect all of your windows and windowpanes to ensure they are all in good condition and replace the ones that aren’t

A big problem during winter is burst pipes, so what can you do to avoid this common problem?

o Insulate ALL of your pipes, cisterns and water tanks

o Fix any dripping taps or pipes. Any leak could freeze in low temperatures and ultimately lead to a burst pipe and a large repair bill.

o If you are leaving your home unattended for any extended period of time, you should ensure your central heating timer is set to come on at regular intervals and turn off the water supply at the stopcock.

If you do discover a burst pipe then you need to turn off your water supply at the main stopcock and turn ALL systems (heating, boilers, etc) that use water off. You will then need to drain the entire water system, so run the taps while you call the plumber and your house insurance provider (if there was any damage that you are covered for).

Saving Time With Same-Day Crowns

When a tooth has become damaged or decayed, it may need to be crowned or “capped.” The cap restores the original appearance and functionality of the tooth. Dental caps are extremely durable and made with a custom fit that covers the entire tooth beginning at the gum line.

In the past, the process required at least two trips (sometimes three) to the dentist, uncomfortable alignment impressions, a temporary crown and waiting from one to three weeks for a lab to make the permanent crown.

A new innovation in digital technology now makes same-day dental crowns possible. The entire procedure is completed in one time-saving visit using a camera, computer and milling machine incorporated into one instrument. This advancement in restorative dentistry eliminates the need for alignment impressions, temporary crowns or the use of an outside lab to construct the crown.

The process starts the same way as traditional crowns, by preparing the tooth for the cap. First, the area is numbed and the damaged tooth is drilled to get rid of any decay and to shape it for the crown. This makes sure the crown will fit perfectly when placed over the damaged tooth.

Instead of taking an impression of the area using a putty-like substance (the procedure for traditional crowns), your teeth are lightly dusted with reflective powder. Then, a wand with a built-in small camera that is attached to the computer takes a picture of the area. The camera uses reflected light from the powder to create a three-dimensional image of the drilled tooth and adjoining teeth.

The image is then electronically transferred onto a computer screen. Special Computer Aided Design (CAD) software creates the cap design from the image. All the details are included in the design, from size and shape to indentations and ridges. The software also allows for easy modification of the design as needed. You can even create a mirror-image of the same non-damaged tooth on the other side of your mouth.

The final cap design is sent to the milling machine with a single mouse click. The machine sculpts the cap from a tiny ceramic block that is the closest match to the natural color of your teeth. The carving process takes about five minutes.

The appearance of the cap can be further enhanced with quick-drying stain and glaze. The stain and glaze are painted on to the crown using tiny brushes. After the additional coloring has been completed, the finished crown is placed in your mouth and bonded to the old tooth.

The entire process can be completed while you wait, usually within an hour.

Just like traditional caps, same-day dental caps are extremely durable and will have a natural looking appearance. They are maintained just like your own teeth – with daily brushing and flossing, which will help reduce dental plaque build-up. If you grind your teeth at night, make sure you wear a nightguard.

Same-day caps will not only save you time in the dental chair, you’ll be able to quickly and easily restore your beautiful smile.

How to Convert Your RC Car Into Drift Spec

Remote Control Drifting is taking off in a big way, in this article I show you step by step how to convert that old 1/10 touring car into a drifters dream machine. It’s very simple and generally only takes a couple of hours, using this practical guide I’ll have you sideways before you know it.

What exactly is drifting?

In a nut shell drifting is the art of changing the angle of attack of your car, while still maintaining full control, so in a typical drift driver X approaches the corner and turns in hard too early, this will bring the rear of the car around, Driver X will then turn back into the slide and keep the car going around the corner while maintaining as much angle and speed as possible, then he will over correct and throw the car into another slide right after the first one, with as little straight lining as possible.

Can a RC car Drift?

Yes, if you’ve ever been involved with RC racing, you know the level of setup that even the basic RC Cards come with, and drifting is no exception. While a stock standard RC car can drift out of the box, there are some basic setup and chassis modification that will help you get more angle, speed and chicks.

Where do I start?

The first thing you need is a RC car, I’ll use two examples, both of which I’ve had personal experience with, the Tamiya TT01 and the Tamiya TA05. The first step to drifting is to break that traction, due to the power to weight ratio of RC Cars we need a little help, Drift Tires are all you need to get sideways, but there is a little more you can do if you want to compete. If you can’t find RC Drift tires you can use insulation tape, be sure to wrap it in the same direction that the wheel will be turning, a good trick is to lay it down and roll you RC Car over it, this is the right way, Taped tires tend to work best on surfaces that already have a little to no traction, i.e. an underground parking lot, but they don’t last long. Drift tires all have different tractions, more traction = bigger drifts, but this is useless if you need to compete on a tight track as the amount of torque used to break traction will also generate a lot of speed, in the end it’s down to personal preference.

What next?

Okay so you taped your tires and played around a bit, not we need to get the car to be more predictable, all the standard racing setting apply, shocks, ride height and wheel angles are up to you, but if there is a must have it’s the rear differential, you need to lock it, this is also know as a spool diff, basically it means that both wheels must turn at the same time. The result is a car that will break and regain traction on command, the drifts will also be much easier to control, more throttle = more angle, less throttle = less angle.

The Tamiya TT01 uses a planetary gear setup for the rear diff, which is easy to convert (and convert back should you change your mind later) the two most command ways to lock this diff are 1. Open the Diff and fill it with glue from a glue gun, or 2. Take a small piece of fuel tubing ,cut it open along it’s length, and roll this around one of the planetary gears. Once done close the diff and check if it give the desired result before you put it back. The other option is to buy a hop-up spool diff.

The TA05 uses a ball diff at the back and the front, this is not as easy to modify, but it can be done. The way I modified mine was to use pop rivets. I opened the diff and removed the ball bearings and metal plates that the balls run along. I then drilled three small holes in the side, getting both halves of the diff. I then pop riveted them together and filed down the rivets. This worked, but be careful. 1. It’s not reversible and if you make a mistake the diff will be destroyed. 2. It doesn’t last long, eventually the forces that go through the diff will destroy this because it’s been weakened by holes. A Spool diff is available for the TA05 and this is the preferred options.

What about the front diff?

Now that we have a solid platform we can experiment with slightly different setups to find the one that suites us best, this varies from car to car, but the principle is the same. I personally love using a front one-way diff, or a center one-way diff for more control. The downside is that using brakes at any time is the same as using you e-brake (hand-brake) in a real car, the tail will slide around in a 180, while this can be useful to initiate a drift and transition to a second drift from the first it’s very easy to spin out, so most people prefer not to use the one-ways. Once again this is down to personal preference.

Why drifting is much better than racing.

Well I love both, but from the drifting side it takes a lot more skill and a lot less car, what I mean is that while racing takes skill, you can compensate with an awesome car, there is no way a TT01 will consistently win in a race against a carbon fibre racing machine. But with drifting you can, a TT01 can out perform any car out there, yes it will be difficult, but so much of drifting is down to driver skill that anything can happen. This being the case it’s also possible to get into drifting with very little financial backing (unlike racing)

I hope this article has given you some idea’s about drifting, please feel free to contact me if you have any suggestions or need any advice, advice is always free, like the rest of my site.

Safeguarding Your Home With Fencing

Having security issues with your home? Need help? Install a fence & see the difference!

Fencing is a way to protect your home, office, garden or swimming pool from random trespassers passing by your living place. A fence is a material generally made up of aluminium, wood, iron or glass, which is put up around the house to ensure safety. It also helps in complementing the style and look of your home. Your property no doubt, could be the most important investment you’ve ever made in your entire life, so it is important to safeguard it at every instant of time. This can only be done by installing a fence around your property.

But before you take a decision to call a contractor for its installation, it’s important that you understand your needs and choose the right fence for your living place after taking help from different online fencing portals, websites, contractors and suppliers. Today in this modern world, fences and privacy gates has a great impact on the overall look of your property.

Things to be taken care of before starting up with fencing

• Firstly, you need to determine the purpose of putting up the fences. This includes finding reasons and predicting whether this will make any difference or not. Also, you need to choose from a wide range of materials available for fencing such as brick, steel, aluminium, glass, wood, PVC and vinyl.

• Once you have decided to install a fence of a particular material, the next step is to take care of the height of your fence. Your fence needs to be of a correct height in order to avoid unnecessary climbing.

• Cost estimation acts as a deciding factor while installing fences as cost vary from material to material. For example wrought iron and aluminium looks alike and adds a similar touch of elegance and beauty to your home, but they vary in cost.

• Once you’ve gone through all the above written steps, the next and the last step is to hire an ideal fence contractor. One thing you must keep in mind before approaching any contractor and that is, ‘always approach a reputed or a well experienced fencing contractor instead of hiring a cheap one’.

• You can even take help from your friends, family members, relatives or colleagues when it comes to hire a good fence contractor.

These are the few points you must go through before making a decision to install a fence around your home.

High Quality Materials Make High Quality Fences For Years to Come

A Georgia fence contractor is someone who can help you determine the right fence for your property and then professionally install your chosen fencing. Many people opt to build their own fences out of materials that they buy. If the person is experienced in choosing the materials and fence building, the fence can turn out to be an asset to the home, making it more attractive and adding curb appeal. But too often a homemade fence installation looks homemade, and can be very unattractive.

Another drawback of do-it-yourself fence installation is that sometimes the materials purchased are not quality materials. And this can lead to a fence that looks old before its time, that does not stay secure and that becomes a general eyesore. This definitely will not add to the value of your home.

Even someone who can install a fence perfectly could sabotage the project by choosing the wrong fencing materials. Someone who does not go through a quality company to get the right materials could end up with a very unattractive fence. There are certain things to keep in mind when choosing materials and building a fence, to ensure that it holds up and lasts for years.

When choosing wood for your fence, which is a high quality and attractive material, making sure the wood is thoroughly painted, stained or treated is essential. Any spots that are missed are going to become problems. Often when someone puts up a wooden fence and then paints or stains it, the paint or stain does not get in the joints or cracks. But rainwater and moisture will get in there, where the wood is vulnerable. This leads to mildew and rotting in the very areas where the fence needs to stay the strongest – the joints and fixtures.

Making sure that the wood is thoroughly sealed before installation can help prevent these types of problems. So making sure you have high quality materials like the highest quality woods can save your fence. It'll cost more in the beginning, but the fence will last years longer while still looking great. Some metals vary in quality a lot, too. Cheap metal materials for a fence will quickly corrode or rust and look years older than they are.

If you go through a Georgia fence contractor you will not have to worry about these problems. Choose one that offers only the highest quality materials to make the highest quality fences and you'll know that you're getting qualified and guaranteed work. Very often the fencing contractor can help you make the decision as far as the material you want, and even the height you want. Much depends on whether the fence is for looks, privacy or just as a barrier for pets or children.

Talk to a professional fencing contractor in your area and they'll be able to tell you the best quality materials for your fence, as well as handle the logistics for you, install it perfectly and give you a high quality fence that you can enjoy for years to come.

Knowing All About Hotels and Hotel Types

Everyone is familiar with the kind of hotel that is located smack in the middle of a lively metropolis, surrounded or looming over buildings that stretch high into the cityscape. Lavish interiors, spacious rooms, and sweeping furnishings are all there for the traveler to behold once he or she steps inside the hotel's confines. These are truly worthy temporary abodes for discerning travelers.

However, that's not the only kind of hotel in existence. As with any other industry, the hotel industry is keen on identifying the demands of the market as well as any alternative in order to carve an important niche. This is why there are also numerous types of hotels and other kinds of accommodations, all for the traveler to choose from. Consumers, as many experts say, love to have options. Travelers are no exception.

First mention hotels, and most probably people will picture the grand structures that brim with light and ooze with luxury. The next thing that would come to mind is probably the budget hotel. These hotels are smaller and are likely a step or two down in terms of luxury and quality of accommodations. Still, they should be able to provide adequate quality and, ultimately, comfort and functionality at a more affordable price tag for budget-conscious travelers.

Condo hotels, also less frequently known as hotel condos, are also gaining tremendous amounts of popularity in recent times. Each condo hotel unit functions the same way as normal condominiums do, except for one important difference: the owners of the units have the prerogative to allow the establishment's management to rent out the room when the owners are not using it. That way, the unit acts as a more-or-less permanent vacation home and then a source of income, too!

The so-called hostel is another budget-friendly alternative, with an added incentive. These relatively cheaper establishments also provide an outlet for socializing. This is because hostels have a shared set-up, usually in the form of a dormitory-style room with bunk beds. Hostels are not only run by corporations, but they may also be operated by charities and other housing associations. Hostels are also known for their short-term stay offers, which provide travelers with added flexibility if they only need a couple hours or so to rest before moving on to another destination.

Inns are common elements in fantasy stories and epics, and they continue to be popular establishments in the modern word. These establishments not only offer affordable lodging, but they also act as a way-station for many travelers who need to stop and get a bite to eat. Food and drink are the main fare in inns, aside from the lodging. They are usually found along highways or around the countryside and are especially common in Europe.

There are many other types, of course-apartment hotels, bread and breakfasts, eco-hotels, resorts, and serviced apartments are all among the different types. They all offer unique alternatives to the bigger and usually more expensive hotels. They each add their unique brand of flavor to the guest's stay, and it is up to the traveler to decide which type best suits his or her preferences and budget.

General Snake Care Sheet

Generally, young snakes will be comfortable in a 10-20 gallon tank. As your snake grows, depending on what type of snake you have, you will need 30g, 50g, and even custom tanks for larger snakes. The largest snakes (which are still common as pets) will even need entire rooms dedicated to them.

The tank does not need to be tall unless you are housing an arboreal (tree-dwelling) snake. Usually the long variants of tank sizes are ideal. For example, a 20 gallon long is longer than a regular 20 gallon but it is also shorter and possible narrower.

The substrate you use for your snake may also depend on the type you choose to own. Most breeders, due to the need to often change substrate, use torn up newspaper as the bedding for their snakes. This is a great, cheap, alternative to pet-store bedding. If you would like a more "realistic" look to your terrarium, and you choose to buy the wood-chips or sand, be sure to research thoroughly as there are some types of bedding which are believed to cause respiratory and a variety of other problems with snakes.

Heating / Lighting

The best source of heat for your snake is either an under tank heater (UTH) or a basking lamp. You can also use a combination of both to provide the perfect temperature for your snake. You will have to look up temperature guidelines for your particular snake because temperature needs vary drastically between snakes.

It is highly recommended that you DO NOT use heat rocks or any other heat source that the snakes would have direct access to. This can result in severe burns for your snake, and we do not want that.

One thing you should be sure to do is provide your snake with a temperature gradient. This means that you should have the heat source on one side of the tank, and allow the other side to cool. This will provide your snake with the option of choosing the most comfortable place on the gradient.

You do not need to keep your snake on a strict light schedule. Personally, I turn off the lights when I go to sleep and when I wake up I turn them on. I figure that's a pretty good way to be sure that they plenty of light / darkness each day (just in case it really does matter).

Feeding your snake is bound to be an exciting experience right? Well it depends. If you feed your snake live prey, then it will be very exciting but you run the risk of the prey injuring your snake (definite possibility when you start feeding rats and bigger). Personally I have always fed live, I keep a close eye on them and have not had a problem yet.

With pre-killed prey (highly recommended by some) you do not have to worry about your snake getting hurt. The major problem with this is that some of the more "picky" snakes, like the ball python, may refuse to eat this. You may have to go to great lengths to trick or possibly even force-feed your snake.

The size, type, and quantity of the prey you will need depends on the size and type of your snake. If you ever question what you should be feeding your snake, be sure to post it in the appropriate forum.

Well like I said, this was not supposed to be an expert care-sheet. This is just a general idea of the type of care your going to have to give a pet snake.

How to Make Money Out of Thin Air

Money-making is one of the strongest desires of human beings. Whether young or old, everybody is thirsty for financial sufficiency. This is why I have decided to X-ray this text entitled “How to Make Money out of Thin Air”.

The text is written by Brian Sher, who obtained a degree in Marketing from the University of South Wales. His subsequent business travels overseas sparked his interest in consultancy, and after spending two years in Los Angeles, he returned to Australia and formed his own company specialising in marketing and business-growth strategies. Working with businesses both big and small, one of his major clients offered to partner him in a new venture – Vision Publishing.

Under Sher’s direction, Vision Publishing experienced phenomenal growth, and ultimately boasted more than $12 million in annual sales. His extensive network and strong reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic and exciting marketers made him an active and sought-after business coach.

The author says given the title of this book, he can hear the critics sharpening their pencils and the cynics saying “Oh sure, we’ve heard this all before”. Sher admits that this is perfectly understandable as on the surface, making money out of thin air seems like an unbelievable claim.

He confesses that to be honest, he was cynical himself when he first learnt of this practice, adding that but what made him look beyond his initial distrust was that he did not want to work hard for a living. Rather, Sher wanted to work smarter and less to enjoy the finer things in life and have the time to enjoy them.

He says while deciding on how to achieve this, he remembered a statement his father once made, which was “Never work with your hands – it will never make you rich!”

This author submits that although he was not literally working with his hands, he knew he was not far off from this in the wealth-creation stakes, as he was working hard and was not exactly rich. Sher says he had a head full of great ideas and concepts, and was working at a frenetic pace, running around selling these ideas.

The author reveals that he learnt a good living, but that was all, and he needed to learn more. He adds that he needed to learn how and what the rich were doing that he was not. This author says they were making the money and he was just earning it.

Sher explains that he set out to try to change all that by studying what they did, the way they thought and the way they operated, and after a while, he discovered that their habits were not rocket science and it was entirely possible to make money out of thin air.

According to him, if you want to achieve success, it requires nothing more than changing your attitude as you approach your next business venture, and this simple change will be worth millions of dollars to you.

Structure-wise, this book has 15 chapters. Chapter one is entitled “Secrets of the rich”. According to Sher here, “How many times have you heard people use the words ‘make money’? I just want to make money…Thousands of times, I’ll bet, and you’ve probably said them to yourself. Although the words spoken might be identical, what ‘poor people’ (that is, people with a ‘poor’ mentality) mean when they say them is completely different to what the rich mean. The ‘poor person’ looks for ways to do the only thing he or she knows how – that is, to sell more of their time. And this can mean only one thing: working longer or harder.”

Sher educates that when rich people use the words “make money”, they are talking about wealth creation. That is, they never mean selling their time.

In this chapter, the author also discusses other concepts such as unlearning a “poor” mentality; knowing what rich people know; stealing from the rich to give the poor; and a secret file.

Chapter two is based on the interrogative subject of “How rich are you?” Sher quotes Michel De Montaigne here thus: “We are, all of us, richer than we think we are.”

According to the author, almost everyone you know wants to be richer than he or she is at the moment. He says but it is important to understand that being rich in life is not simply about making more money. The author stresses that many people mistakenly believe this is the case.

Sher explains that money is something you can use to get things done and the more money you have, the more things you can do. Many things are more important than money: a loving partner, a supportive family, friends you can trust and depend on, a career you enjoy, submits the author. In Sher’s words, “You might be rich, but without these things you won’t enjoy life as much as you could.”

He reiterates that happiness is largely based on non-material things; and living life to the full is about focusing your emotional energy on positive channels, and directing this energy into everything you do, at work or play.

In chapters three to nine, concepts such as making money out of thin air; never go to school if you want to be rich; the fastest way to make money; his business successes and failures; your need of rocket to reach the moon; it is not worth a thing if you cannot sell it and twenty habits of the world’s least valuable businesses are examined.

Chapter ten is entitled “Twenty habits of the world’s most valuable businesses”. According to Sher here, the wealthiest companies in the world are capitalised in the hundreds of billions of dollars, placing a huge value on these businesses and bringing wealth to the owners.

He adds that however, total capitalisation is not the most important thing to look at when you are assessing how valuable a business is. Sher advises you to look instead at the price earnings ratio (p/e ratio), printed beside the stock price on the business pages of newspapers and you will see that most of these ratios are somewhere around 15-20, but some are much higher, even reaching the hundreds.

The author says the twenty attributes valuable businesses have are operation in large or growth markets; production of unique and timely products; selling only leveraged products; control of residual income; institution of great systems; great customer service; powerful brands; non-dependence on one person; usual market leadership; and attraction of the best and brightest people.

The remaining are predicating reward on performance not longevity/time; possession of high margins; possession of few real competitors; continuous innovation or flow of new products; possession of an investor entry and exit strategy; possession of a big customer database; institution of great marketing; anticipation of customers’ needs; constant addition of value to customers’ experience and education of customers before they sell to them.

In chapters 11 to 15 of this book, this author analytically X-rays concepts such as the world’s most successful and unsuccessful habits; twenty-eight habits of the world’s least successful business people; forty-two habits of the world’s most successful business people; twenty-six secrets to making money out of thin air; and the question of whether you will become a millionaire.

Stylistically, this book is a success. Sher displays a high level of skills of analytical presentation and simplicity of language. He employs reflective illustrations, classical/literary allusions and autobiographical effects to ensure analytical reinforcement, as well as concrete conviction on readers’ part.

There is also inclusion of the question-and-answer section, “The road to riches” exercise, to achieve reader practical participation. What’s more, the title of the book is alluring and emotionally challenging. The cover design is attractive and communicative, while the inside pages are well laid out.

However, since chapter nine entitled “Twenty habits of the world’s least valuable businesses” is the opposite of chapter ten entitled “Twenty habits of the world’s most valuable businesses”, one of them should have been left out of the chapters of this book to avoid conceptual redundancy, especially that we can antithetically deduce the attributes of one from the discussion of the other’s attributes.

But on whole, Sher’s efforts are commendable. If your desire is to make maximum use of the least of opportunity and become rich this year, then you need to read this masterpiece. It is simply irresistible.

Woodworking Joinery – A Brief Discussion

Woodworking joinery means binding of different wooden pieces to produce a fine structure such as: furniture, toys or any other fixtures. The durability of the product depends on the quality and consistency of the material used in the joinery process. The product can be made up of different variety of materials and these wooden materials vary a lot according to the requirement of the joinery work. There are some common types and styles used in the joinery work such as:

Butt joinery: This is the type of joinery used when there is no requirement of strong joints in use. A heavy stroke with bare hands is sufficient to break the joints. Mainly, the butt joint is formed when you meet the two ends of a board or when they are glued together. In order to get a better texture, the board should be cut into perfect squares. An absorbent grain at the end of the wooden board will soften the glue. Thus you should apply more than the required amount. You can use the nails or screws hammered for a better board durability since the glue fixing may be feeble.

Rabbet joinery: This type of joinery is a mark made in the edge direction of a wooden piece to make it two sided and open at the surface end. This looks like a slit that is cut into the edge of the wooden surface. You can also use a rabbet to create a joint with one more wooden piece. You can see the use of rabbet joinery when fixing a cabinet as it is commonly used for the back panel.

Lap joinery: Lap joint is a different type of joinery commonly used in the creation of cabinet frames. There are still more types of lap joinery such as: dovetail lap, cross lap, half lap, end lap and mitred lap. Among them, the half lap is largely used in the construction work. In this type of joinery, the material is removed from every piece in order to give a similar thickness of the thickest piece at the end of the joint obtained. In other words, the two pieces will be joined that are of same thickness will be joined. The half joinery is built with the dowel pin or a fastener.

Housing joinery: A housing joint is created when two wooden pieces are bonded at specific angles by cutting a die in one piece and inserting the other one through the slit. This is known as being the strongest style of joinery. Commonly, the housing joinery can be seen in bookshelves, furniture, shelves and drawers. In such structures, the wood front edge will cut perpendicularly and the other piece of wood will be inserted in the slit created. The thickness will be just a third part of the wooden piece.

Joinery is an art increasing the beauty of wood. Furniture and other wooden products will increase the attractiveness of your house or office. In order to achieve the desired utility of any wooden products, you should look for an expert who can do the product with the adequate joinery.

Labor Day Crafts Using Dowel

Labor Day is considered the last hurrah of summer. And we usually celebrate it with backyard barbeques (frequently one of the last before fall's chill takes over), spending time with our families and friends, and just having some much-needed downtime as the chaos of back-to-school, extracurricular activities and other fall routines begin. Enjoy some of that downtime with easy to make Labor Day crafts while having fun and creating memories with your children in the process.

There are many activities that can be done or adapted to your own creative objectives, but here are a couple of ideas you can use with your children for a great Labor Day.

Use cardboard or poster board to make patriotic flags. Cut the cardboard or poster board into sizes appropriate for easy handling by the children who will be using them. Have them glue scraps of tissue paper, construction paper or fabric to fashion and fill in the stars and stripes.

Once completed, have them hole punch the upper corners of the flag. Use red, white or blue ribbon or twine to loop through the holes, then tie into place. Hang the completed project in a window, on the wall or on the front door.

Another easy to complete craft is to have the children cut a star, again, using cardboard or poster board. Have them to apply materials using glue to give color and texture to the star. Materials may include the same as the above, including tissue paper, construction paper or fabric. Or have them to color the star with washable markers. To give the star some shine, have them apply red, white or blue glitter.

Add an element of creativity, dimension and eye-appeal by helping the children to cut stars of incremental sizes and glue one on top of the other using a combination of patriotic colors to mark the holiday.

Assistance in its Providing use the if the children are On Unable to safely do so for Themselves, use a hot glue gun to glue the star (s) to a section of wood Dowel . Embellish by adding strips of red, white or blue ribbon to the back side of the star. The ribbon can be free-falling from the base of the star or wrapped overlaid around the dowel.

Add to the celebration by having the children craft their own flute and drums using everyday household materials. Use the cardboard from a roll of paper towels to make a flute and the cardboard from an oats container, along with two thin, evenly cut pieces of dowel, for a drum. Attach red, white or blue ribbon with a hot glue gun so the child may wear it around them and keep his / her hands free for drumming.

However, always think safety first! Be sure to measure a length appropriate to fit around the child so that he / she may have fun, but such that there is no danger of strangulation. As an alternative to ribbon that wraps around the child's neck, perhaps consider ribbon that will wrap around a child's waist, perhaps in his / her belt loops, instead.

Once these projects are complete, have your little ones perform their very own Labor Day parade. You're a Grand Old Flag and Yankee Doodle are great childhood classics to consider performing!

Using some hardwood dowel, inexpensive materials, such as ribbon, construction paper and glue, and a little bit of imagination, you have now created a grand master, a flutist and a drummer.

Happy Labor Day!
