Plastic Tables – Furniture of Ease and Elegance

Introduction

In this fast paced world where we are surrounded with gadgets and ready-made things for household, business and offices use, at times it becomes a problem to accommodate exclusively those things which are heavy and bulky and may have logistics and room space issues. Some of these heavy things are to do with furniture which is made from wood and other materials where issues range from movability to maintenance and other such conditions which require time and efforts on your part to keep them in good stead.

Why Plastic Furniture?

Until now, the office and household furniture world has been dominated with wooden material which is by nature heavy and offers fewer options when it comes to movement, little space adjustments that you may require from time to time at your place. Plastic came as a boon to the modern world as it offers immense possibilities as to how we make useful things which are light and handy for household, offices and industries such as hospitality and food industry. Of the many uses of plastic, one which certainly made the difference to our world was its use as furniture. Plastic furniture made the difference to our living room, offices and working space. From cabinets to beds and chair to tables, most of these things at home, office and at business places are now made up of plastic products.

Plastic Tables- Many Options, Many Uses

Use of plastic tables is now encouraged in household, office and business spaces due to their durability, safety and economy. They are light in weight and come in many different designs and sizes to fit in to your customized spaces with ease. The new designs of plastic furniture are as elegant, if not more, as wooden or other materials but surely offer more color options than the usual patterns usually come along with other materials. This is not to indefinite the usage of wood and other material furniture but rather as an added option where you have comparatively more choices available with plastic furniture.

Advantages of Plastic Tables

Plastic tables are very popular these days as they offer durability and also come in different designs and sizes to fit in to your budget and choices. Because of these so many reasons, there is a huge demand in the market for this product. There are plenty of reasons as to why this surge in demand for plastic tables is being witnessed, whatever reasons there may be but following are definitely the advantages of plastic tables-

  • Plastic tables offer economy above other material furniture as they cost less in comparison to wood, steel, glass etc.
  • With shrinking office spaces these days, space customization is one of the major requirements and with various design and sizes options available with plastic tables, it is now possible to manage space with much more ease.
  • They are light and handy and they can be moved and adjusted without much effort. This way they make a good choice for office as well as household furniture.
  • With more color options to suit your space theme, they can offer more color options while, at the same time, look elegant.
  • Plastic tables do not need regular polishing or maintenance and are easy on your pocket and time.
  • Plastic tables are moist and termite proof and have longer life.
  • Unlike wooden furniture which requires trees to be cut, plastic tables, in this way, are an affordable and environment-friendly material.

Thus, plastic tables offer much more than just being light in weight and on your pocket. With newer designs and many different sizes available in the market these days, users have ample choices to fit them according to the need and aesthetics of room space.

Look wise, plastic tables have evolved over the years and they look equally elegant as any other material tables but also offer added advantage of more color options to appeal to your color-centric choices.

Walking the Plank

There's an exercise that has been a stable in professional fitness circles for decades, it is relatively unknown in mainstream fitness circles, but has been catching on as of late, and for good reason. This exercise tones and tightens the whole body, especially the glutes and the abdominals. It will build endurance, lower blood pressure, and strengthen the heart and lungs … The best thing about this exercise is that you can do it almost anywhere and at anytime, it takes only a couple minutes per day, and it is fun and challenging … I am talking about THE PLANK!

Now you may or may not know about this awesome exercise, so let me paint you a picture …

The PLANK is performed by laying your body on the ground, face down. You want to then balance your body on your forearms and elbows, with only your tip-toes on the ground in the back. Picture the push-up position, but instead of being on your hands, your forearms and elbows are on the floor. Keep your back straight with your abdominal muscles sucked in and tight, also keeping your butt level with the rest of your body.

What's the purpose of this exercise?

This exercise in theory is quite simple to perform, the challenge comes when you try to out-do your previous record time. Your goal is to simply hold the position for as long as you can. At first, you may only be able to hold it for a few seconds, but you will develop more strength and endurance each time you do it, and you will notice how fast the results start to happen! Your abs, glutes, and overall feeling of well-being will be obvious almost instantly!

How often should I do this?

Do this exercise 2-3 times per week, performing about 5-10 times per session, or until you are exhausted.

Benefits of this exercise?

This exercise builds abdominal strength and endurance that will benefit you in every other exercise you perform. As well, it will improve posture and tighten you abs, which will create a slimming look. As well, it will give you some cardiovascular benefit since you are performing this as an endurance exercise.

Handrail Solutions, Finally a Sturdy, Inexpensive, Handrail System Anyone Can Install

Most of us have been there before. Perhaps you have bought your first house and as winter approaches you realize that steps in the front yard are going to be dangerous when covered with ice and snow. Perhaps an elderly parent is having difficulty traversing stairs and needs the comfort of sturdy hand rail on either side of his entryway. Perhaps the insurance company has asked you to put railing up in order to be insurable. What can you do?

For years most home owners have been related to tackle metal railing installation. They usually settle for wooden railroads or employ railing professionals. These have not always been satisfying solutions. Wooden railings are often four to six inches wide creating a grab bar that may be too large for small or frail hands. Hiring a professional to install metal railing is often cost prohibitive. In more recent years vinyl railing has come along as an acceptable alternative. Still for many homes the look may clash with the traditional established look of brick and metal work accents.

These issues are now over through the use of a new steel railing system that uses adjustable posts. The rise and run of your particular stairs are matched by simply adjusting two or three posts – depending on the length – into a vertical position and locking them into place. A variety of installation methods can be used. Rails can be cemented in the ground next to the stair or ramp. They can be cemented into the slab using a rented core drill. Or they can be anchored onto the stairs using a hammer drill and anchor bolts. In the case of wooden steps lag bolts can be used. Matching wall rail can also be bolted into drywall, plaster, brick or block using appropriate fasteners. You probably already own most of the tools needed and the whole process of installation often takes less time than the research put in the project.

Consider a few things before undertaking the project. Are there any codes you need to meet for the purposes of liability insurance? You may want to contact your local agent. Take a few measurements and determine the length of rail you might need. The most critical information is to measure the length from the nose of the top step to the bottom step and also count the number of steps not including the top step / landing. With a little effort you can vastly improve the look and safety of your stairs, ramps, and entryways.

The Most Important Components for Your Deck Rail Plans

For anyone who is not aware about creating a plan for the deck railings, you should know that a deck railing component is important. It will help to give that all important finishing touch to the railings and when it comes to creating that perfect deck railing, a number of different components come into the equation.

Deck railing components

The baluster is one of the most important components which is used for the deck railroads. Basically these are the small structures which are placed between the other larger posts. Most of the traditional decks are usually built with balusters that are two by two wooden ones. The problem with a lot of home owners these days is that they are after something that is not as traditional and they opt to choose different materials. These could include anything from PVC, aluminum, iron or even glass.

Popular components

One of the most popular choices is the aluminum type because of the different varieties of colors and it is basically maintenance free. Another material which is starting to gain a lot of popularity is glass because it looks classy. Also, it comes available with different options for tinting and it is also see through which is always good. However, it is not just the materials people like to change, but also the style of the baluster too. While some settles for the classic look, others may look into the Victorian architecture for inspiration.

The connecters are another important component when it comes to deck railroads. These can have multiple purposes when it comes to the railroads. The main importance of them is that they are used to connect the railings to each other as well as the wall and the stairs. Another use for the connecters is to connect the balusters to both the top and the bottom rails. Also, like the railings, the connectors also come in a range of different styles and a variety of colors. They can be made from various materials such as PVC, iron, wood and some other metals too. Something that will need to be bared in mind is that the connectors have to be strong in order to create the correct support for the deck. If the connectors you choose are not up to the job, you will need some different connectors.

To finish off the components, you have the accessories for the deck. These are generally what are used to make everything look unique and elegant. You can even get centerpiece accessories which are for the balusters and they come in different designs.

One piece of advice is that now you know about all of the components; make sure that you get all of the right ones for your deck railing plan, otherwise you will end up simply wasting money.

Cutting Tips for the Stair Builder

Building stairs can be expensive work. The cost of the materials alone will cost you a reasonable amount of money. Add this amount with all the professional and labor fees and other miscellaneous expenses will surely make anyone think about making a run for their money. All that kidding aside, any mistake or error, especially when it comes to the cutting phase will mean more money space. Here are some cutting tips for the stair builder.

During the cutting phase, this is where everything becomes unbelievably technical. Accuracy is the key to successful pass this phase of stair building. A good rule of thumb to follow for a stair builder is to measure twice and cut once, which simply means being careful with measurements and taking the utmost care when cutting.

A wide area where you can freely move around is an ideal workplace. You should make sure that you give yourself enough room to have the other materials on stand by while you build, especially if you're doing DIY work. It's like setting up a stage.

Lighting is another important thing or else risk losing a limb. Any staircase or home building project will only be efficient and can get as close to perfect as it should if the lighting is good. Having great lighting will also help for a better brain processing (studies prove it!) And avoid having little accidents like stepping on a small nail or cutting the wrong wood plank.

Ventilation is also important because this can be very tedious and exhausting work. Imagine doing the same thing, tread after tread, post after post for the balustrade. Make sure that you will not be suffocated by dust and that you do not drown in sweat after a few minutes. Take little breathers in between too.

Before Mr. stair builder nails or glues anything together, let him do a double check first. Measure the stair treads to see if they are all of the same size. Check the stair baluster to see is they are of the identical height. The point is to make sure everything will fit snuggly after installation. Lastly, ensuring the quality of your stair parts is the last consideration, which is easy if you know where to look.

Baby Safety Gates – Parent's Top Choice For Childproofing the Home

Nowadays, having a house or an apartment that has more than one floor is very common. But once the baby arrives in the family, making sure that the baby does not attempt to climb the stairs is very important. Babies are adventurous by nature. They like to wander and explore since they are still unmindful of the perils that lay before them. Therefore, being certain that the baby is safe is a parent's top priority.

What are the uses of baby safety gates?

For two-storey houses, installing baby safety gates is the top choice of parents. You can be assured of the safety of your kid even if you let him or her wander through the house while you rush to the kitchen to prevent something from burning.

Even if your home is just a flat, baby gates can be of a lot of help, too. You can place gates in areas where you would not want your baby to get in. For instance, you would not want them to crawl or stroll around the kitchen especially when you are busy cooking something because they may touch something hot or sharp. Accidents usually happen in the kitchen; you would not want your precious little baby around the area when it happens.

You can also place gates on the door to your office. If there are important and valuable items that you place in your office and must not be played with, gates would prevent your child from coming in and playing with any of your important possessions.

How effective are these gates?

Gates are very useful if your kid is 36 inches and below. If your baby reaches more than that, gates are no longer as useful. Your baby might even think of climbing over the safety gate, which would ever cause a fall.

A safety gate is very effective when installed properly. Babies would usually lean over the gate, trying to reach for something, trying to climb over the gate or just looking through the slats. If the gate is installed poorly and on poor foundation, it can cause accidents.

How can gates be installed?

There are two options when installing gates: permanent and temporary. If you want a permanent set-up for your baby gates, these must be latched or attached to either a banister or a wall. Hardware mounted gates is necessary if you want to place a gate at the top of the stairs.

If you opt for a temporary installation of a safety gate, you can purchase the portable safety gate or the pressure mounted safety gate. These are durable yet can easily be removed once your child has grown old enough that the use of baby safety gates is no longer needed. You should not use this type for the top of the stairs. Temporary safety gates are ideal to keep your kid inside a room.

Car Airbags – Interesting Facts

It seems that just a few years ago air bags in cars were exotic. Today their numbers in some models are up to 10. At first glance, it's a simple bag made of a smooth, elastic synthetic material. But the fabric of an airbag needs to be very thin and strong, during the accident even the smallest stitches should not be in the contact area with driver's face and body. The cushion should'nt also become a trampoline, it must be able to ease the gas pressure on time. In fact, many manufacturers have ceased to sew pillows using the fabric that breaks letting the air out. When packing the airbag they put talc powder to prolong the cushion's life.

The number of embedded airbags is growing rapidly. Just recently, the car with two airbags was considered as luxury and now having a dozen would not surprise an average driver. All bags are working on one principle but there are many differences. For example, the driver cushions size ranges between 60 and 80 liters, while the passenger needs a much larger 130-160 liter volume. Side impacts are often no less dangerous than frontal. Naturally, the car manufacturers could not leave it unnoticed over the past 10 years and many cars got their side-bags. They are much smaller than the frontal airbags, the volume ranges from 15 to 25 liters. There are also different forms. Along with the conventional «mushroom type», there are extended "long rollers" in the shoulder area and "inflatable shutters", reliably protecting the head of the driver and rear passengers. You can more and more often find a pillow under the front panel or on the floor as the driver's and passenger's legs should also be protected. And the last invention of "Toyoda Gosei" are the cushions to protect pedestrians. Two rollers fired from the radiator grills and a slit between the hood and windshield, designed to minimize the damage of adult pedestrians, and children.Airbags for motorcycles and scooters are already installed by the customer's request, in Italy for example, sometimes soon, and they will be widely used on all motorcycles.

Interesting facts about airbags:

* Passenger airbag is usually twice as big as the driver's due to the greater distance from the dashboard.
* To make an airbag fill up the full volume it needs 25-50 m / sec (for a comparison an eye blink takes about 100 m / sec)
* Airbag opening speed reaches 320 km / h
* "Renault" car maker installs a small airbag in frontal part of the driver's seat to prevent diving under the seat belt.

Power Pole Installation – An Overview for Customers

Not many people realize the multiple steps that go into selecting and treating a tree that will become a power pole used to carry information and electricity to homes and businesses across neighborhoods, cities, states, and the country as a whole. To be considered for pole use, trees have to meet certain growth characteristics, like size, a generally straight grain, straightness of the tree, itself, and carry few large branches. Currently, Southern Pine trees are the most often used pole type used in the US Other common types include Douglas-fir, and western Red cedar, which are both used more often in larger transmission poles, such as class H poles.

The power pole installation process is a prerequisite job that requires a set formula of measurements to ensure that the pole is in optimal condition and will withstand decades of use and a variety of weather conditions. Specific criteria are provided by the ANSI in four different categories for a pole to meet acceptability, including processing defects, typically occurring defects, pole shape, and growth characteristics. Manufacturing requirements were put into place to minimize strength loss during the conversion process of tree-to-pole and to maximize the success of any preservation treatments used to extend the service life that would be expected in the pole.

When a new power pole installation is being considered, much thought is given to utility design and placement. The right design and placement can minimize impact on aesthetics to ensure the streets cape view remains intact. Thoughtful design and placement also lends to making the most of available planting space, reduces the need for cutting and trenching and may also reduce extended street sidewalk closings while work is in progress. When installation is done correctly, overall improved citizen safety, as well as improved living conditions and aesthetics can be achieved. In an attempt to follow design optimization, consideration is giving to roadway and parking locations, placement of utility boxes, and Throughway, Frontage, and Extension Zones.

When the skilled craftsmen are responsible for power pole installation have done all the site research and calculations that they need for accurate placement, they will begin the actual groundbreaking for the project. Today, most installers use specialized equipment capable of drilling to specified depths within the earth. The size or class, as indicated above, of a pole depends on the load it will carry, including horizontal winds, vertical loads associated with the transformers, conductors, and other mounted equipment, expected weather type, and wire tension on angled structures. How deeply the pole will be buried varies, depending on ultimate pole height, but usually goes by 10% plus 2 ft. Egypt 6 ft.

Vigan – A Gem of Spanish Colonial Architecture in the Philippines

Hidden away in northern Luzon is Vigan, the oldest surviving city of Spanish architecture in the Philippines. Antique churches, official buildings, and residences, cobbled narrow streets, and horse-drawn calesas (carriages) all take us back to the old colonial era.

In earlier times, before the arrival of the Spanish, Chinese junks used to visit and Vigan was a major trading port.

In 1572 Captain Juan de Salcedo landed at Vigan with a party of Spanish soldiers. He conquered the area and then went on to conquer much of northern Luzon. In 1574 he returned and set about creating a township complete with charming plazas, municipal buildings and luxurious mansions for the ruling elite.

These buildings have survived the passing of the centuries and, unlike much of the Spanish period architecture in Manila, it has not been damaged during the battles of World War II. Vigan is now officially listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Perhaps the best way to imbibe the ambience of the old quarter of Vigan is to wander the streets, especially Mena Crisologo Street, early in the morning when the diffused light transforms the old colonial buildings and the calesas into a scene reminiscent of the 1600s.

The white-walled St Paul's Cathedral dates only from the nineteenth century but is an example of the famous "earthy Baroque" style of church architecture, built to withstand the typhoons and earthquakes which are all too frequent in the Philippines. The cathedral's facade features a pair of fu dogs, reflecting Vigan's Chinese heritage.

The Palacio del Arzobispado (Archbishop's Palace) dates from the eighteenth century. Inside is the Museo Nueva Segovia with old portraits, ecclesiastical artefacts and a throneroom, showing the opulent lifestyle enjoyed by the archbishops in the Spanish era.

The Ayala Museum occupied a beautiful old colonial house and was once the residence of Padre José Burgos, one of the nationalist martyrs executed by the Spanish in 1872. The Museum contains Burgos memorabilia, rooms furnished in the period style, and artefacts from the surrounding province .

In Vigan's old quarter there are three other old mansions worthy of a visit: the Crisologo Old House, the Syquia Mansion, and the Quema House. These are furnished in the old style and are full of polished narra wood furniture, paintings and everyday objects. The Quema House also features sliding capiz shell windows.

The Governor's Mansion is now a private residence but its beautiful old exterior facade in a quiet, shady street is definitely worth the effort to see.

Now that Vigan is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, there is a plan in place to protect the Spanish architectural heritage for future generations of visitors and residents to enjoy.

How To Become A Soldier

The future is bright. Life is great, but do you want to escape the stress, or go to college? If the problem of finances leaves you worried that you will not get the education you desire, becoming a soldier is the way to go! You might be thinking that it is hard, and I will simply agree with you. Neverheless, you will be given the opportunity to learn the necessary skills and acquire the knowledge that will last a lifetime. What is it like being a soldier? When you are a US soldier, you are a part of the best fighting force known to humankind. Soldiers spend a lot of their time training, working, and protecting peoples' freedoms. Soldiers live normal lives after work; family and friends are always there for their beloved soldiers. I will now suggest a few ways that you could become a soldier.

One of the main ways in becoming a soldier is to find a recruiter: They will be your mentors and will provide necessary tools to enlist you into the army. You can go about this in a couple of ways: asking your college receptionist to assist you in getting in contact with the recruiting office, you can even check on the internet for the phone number of the recruiting office. After this is done, you are able to change your future. It is not going to be an easy sail, but it will be worth it in the end. After you speak to a recruiter and the army recruits you,

Processes of background check begin: Checking your background, high school diploma, and medical records are all necessary to make sure you are able to start working towards becoming the soldier.

You then go to Basic Combat Training: Basic Combat Training, or BCT, is a nine-week journey through hard work and dedication. This nine-week journey will build many characteristics that you might be lacking. They include: endurance, marksmanship, confidence, as well as communication skills. These skills are always important in our society. After you go through the nine-week BCT, you will graduate; becoming the soldier, you have always dreamed about becoming. In addition, there is advance individual training. Since there are many professionals in the army, you will need specific training for that career that you chose. BCT was simply the overall training, which you need in order to keep your body and mind strong. You first need to choose a career that you want to go into.

You then begin training with teachers who are knowledgeable in the particular field: Some of these fields include: Infantry School, Military Intelligence School, Military Police School, Chemical School, Transportation School, and many others. When you go through these schools, and ever receive your degree, you will truly become a soldier of the Army. This will help you travel, develop as a person, and acquire the skills which you can not acquire anywhere else. Consider this opportunity; you make money for college, meet new people, travel all over the world, and understanding the fundamentals of becoming strong not only in the mind, but physically as well.

Cast Iron Skillet – The Only Pan You'll Ever Need

A cast iron skillet may not be the only pan you need in your kitchen, but I will make a case for a 12 "cast iron skillet being the most useful piece of cookware you can own.

Once you get past the common stereotype that a cast iron skillet is just for cooking over a campfire, you realize what an amazingly versatile tool it is.

The obvious use of a cast fry pan is for frying stuff. A cast iron frying pan does an excellent job of preparing steaks, pork chops, fried chicken, and anything else that you would use a stainless steel or aluminum skillet for. Properly seasoned, a cast iron frying pan can also cook eggs and other sticky dishes that you might think you need a non-stick pan for.

This brings up the point that cooking with non-stick pans may have health risks, and your non-stick cookware will require replacement every few years. By comparison, a cast iron skillet doesnt introduce toxic chemicals into your food and canker many generations.

A cast iron skillet has many other uses surrounding frying if you exercise some culinary creativity.

You can bake with it in the oven, or in a BBQ. (I've made pie in a BBQ. It was entertaining and turned out amazing.)

Here are the sizes of some common baking dishes:

* 9 "round pie plate – 63 sq. Inches
* 8 x 8 cake pan – 64 sq. inches
* 9 x 13 cake pan – 117 sq. inches

Lodge 12 "cast iron skillet – 113 sq. Inches

You can see, a 12 "skillet can be substituted for a 9×13 cake pan, two 8×8 cake pans or two 9" round pie plates. This means, pies, cakes, and baked casseroles can be made in your skillet.

A cast iron skillet can also be used for most things that you would use a baking stone for. The main purpose of a baking stone is to even out the hotspots and temperature fluctuations in your oven. A cast iron skillet has similar enough thermal retention and thermal mass that you can substitute it for a baking stone in many recipes. In other words, pizza, cookies, and bread can all be cooked in a cast iron skillet.

Because of its excellent heat retention, a cast iron skillet is a good choice for deep frying. You can make fish and chips, latkes, donuts, corn dogs, and more in your skillet.

A large skillet makes a great roasting pan. Chicken, ham, and prime rib all come out great.

A cast iron skillet can also be used for soups and stews. A Lodge 12 "Skillet has a capacity of 3.9 quarts so it can do pretty much anything you would use a 4 qt. Pot for. For example, my wife makes a French onion soup in ours. the rest of the ingredients to make the soup and simmers it, then puts bread and cheese on top and puts the whole thing in the oven to finish.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Baked mac and cheese, pancakes, omelets, calamari, pannini's, pies, cobblers, bread, pizza, steaks, cookies, cornbread, soups, stews, biscuits, roasts, stir-fry's, hamburgers and more, all from the same pan!

Some people may consider a 12 "skillet to be too large to be their main cook pot." Rarely is "too large" a problem. a pot that is too small for the dish you are preparing is completely useless. There is very little you can do with an 8 "or 10" skillet that you can not do with a 12 ", but there are plenty of dishes you can prepare in a 12 "fry pan that will not fit into an 8" or 10 ".

I have nothing against smaller skillets, but after much experimentation that decided that if I could have only one it would have to be a 12 ".

Cast iron cookware is inexpensive, environmentally friendly, incredibly versatile, and lasts almost forever. Most importantly, it makes great food.

Whether you are heading out on your own for the first time or are an experienced cook looking to rediscover a better way of cooking, get yourself a cast iron skillet and discover for yourself why it may be the only pan you really need.

Ideas on How to Open Your Speeches

The opening of your speech is somehow the most important part of the speech. It sets the tone for the whole speech and influences how the audience will view your speech. It must create interest in their minds and lead them into the theme / message of your speech.

Plan and write your introduction first. Its length must give you time to expand the points you want to make in the speech. You must practice it until you are word-perfect.

Below I offer seven different examples of how I opened my sentences to leave my audience wanting to hear the reminder of my speech.

Let me start with one that started the audience and helped me make it to the final of a competition. I began with the verse of a Rock and Roll ballad of my youth. It was called "One Last Kiss" and the title of the speech was "One Last Shot". It began like this: "One last kiss. Oh, baby, one last kiss

It never felt like this. Oh, baby, not like this.

I know I need your love. Oh, oh, oh,

Give me one last kiss. "(Sung by the speaker)

With my apologies to Gene Pitney, one of my favorite rock stars of my teenage years.

The love stuck teenage boy in the song believes that if his sweetheart will give him one last kiss then he'll have one last shot at rekindling their romance.

Yet another successful opening that led to my going further in a competition was a chant that introduced a speech with the title "Red". Can you imagine the reaction of the audience when I chanted loudly "Black! Black! Black!" and a few sentences later chanted "Red! Red! Red!" Here is how the opening went.

"Black! Black! Black!" That's the chant we hear when we watch the New Zealand All Blacks play the Australian Wallabies in a Rugby test. I'm sure if the Chinese were involved in a traditional sporting contest like that one, then the chant "Red! Red !, Red!" would echo around the stadium. The Chinese believe that red is their lucky and happy color. So they loved to be surrounded by red objects in their homes.

A Mathematics teacher by training, I often like to involve Mathematics in some way in my sentences. Defining terms is part and parcel of Geometry. So, in a speech, "Thinking outside the Square" I decided to begin the speech by defining each of the words in the title in geometric terms as a starting point for the speech. It then allowed me define the topic in such a way as to aggravate the theme of the speech.

Let me begin by defining the topic "Thinking outside the Square".

Thinking is the act of using the mind. (Remember, thinking is the hardest work of all. That's why so few people do it).

Outside imposes the opposite of inside. (It is similar to a comparison between change and continuity; safety and danger; ordinary and extraordinary).

Square is a regular polygon. We might suggest it is perfect in shape. All sides, angles and diagonals are equal. The diagonals bisect each other at right angles and form angles of 45 degrees with the sides of the square. The square in our context represents the status quo.

So, in essence, our topic means to do something in a way which is unexpected. It is to do things in a way not done before. It is to try the "undoable".

A speech, "Catch 22", enabled me to open the speech by acting out a scene at a football match to allude strongly to the theme of my speech right at the beginning.

"You are a Mug," "Umpy." Do you forget your glasses "Do you want mine," "Ump?" Learn the rules, you "pie".

Have you forgotten there are 2 teams on the field? "

Mr Chairman, fellow speakers,

Who would be an umpire when you get abuse like this and worse?

In 1969, I was teaching at a high school, when the first moon landing was about to occur. In the middle of the lesson, the principal of the school announced over the school public address system that classes would cease immediately and all the students could proceed home to watch the moon landing on television. This became the inspiration for this next introduction. I began initially using an authoritarian voice expected of a principal to make the initial introduction to a speech with the title "Never Seen Before".

Attention! Attention! Attention! Teachers and students, this is your headmaster speaking. Attention! Attention!

These words, Mr Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen, were spoken by our excited Headmaster on the morning of the 20th July 1969. A short dramatic pause followed before the headmaster continued his announcement over the PA system.

Stating your position on the issue consistently can grab the audience attention immediately, particularly if the topic is controversial. That is exactly what I did with a speech, "Easter-Just another long Weekend?" This is how I began.

No! No! No! No thinking Australian would ever say that the Easter break was just another long weekend.

Often a short story as the opening of your speech can introduce the theme of your speech in an interesting way and get your audience on side immediately. In the motivational speech, "the road less traveled", the short story introduces the idea that many people do not realize that they are a success. Here what I wrote to open the speech.

I believe for many people the road to success is a road less traveled or so they think. These people believe that their lives do not contain "success" with a capital 'S' let alone with a small 's'. It is my belief that life is full of many successes, small although most of them may be.

Let me illustrate my point. Some years ago, I was playing golf with my oldest daughter boyfriend, Peter. He loved to play golf but was new to the game. On this particular day, he scored 44 for nine holes. But he was disappointed. I asked him what his best score for nine holes had been in the past. He said his score that day. Then I asked him how many pars had he scored in any nine holes he had played before. Just one he replied. 'How many did you have today?' was my next question. "Two" was his reply

These are just seven opening scenarios. Do not be afraid to "think outside the box / square" with your openings. No all your openings will work. That's part of learning experience. When it does work, you'll have a smile on your face when you see that the audience wants to hear more.

Archangel Jophiel – Angel of Illumination

Although there are few references to this archangel in traditional scripture and literature, Archangel Jophiel is known as the Angel of Illumination. His mission is to enlighten mankind to the teachings of the Christ, Mohammed and other prophets and angels. This archangel is also known to some as the Angel of Beauty, the Hebrew meaning of the name being "beauty of God".

Archangel Jophiel's Colors: Yellow and Gold

Archangel Jophiel is said to bring the wisdom of God to man along a ray of yellow or gold. It is noted that in Christian literature or art, the golden halo surrounding the angels or prophets represents this wisdom. For Hindus, the crown chakra is understood to be the divine yellow center of illumination and higher knowledge. The ray of yellow is said not only to bring wisdom, but also to present a fresh approach to life and a return to enchantment.

Developing Intuition and Inspiration with Archangel Jophiel

Many credit Jophiel with bringing those sudden flashes of inspiration and the development of intuition, creativity, insight and inner wisdom. This archangel is said to be a resource for help along the spiritual pathway, for a deeper understanding of one's true nature, for clearer insight and awareness, for wisdom and knowledge, and for the education of the heart. Jophiel's influence is said to bring new thoughts and ideas, especially in the areas of art, writing and creative projects.

A Patron Archangel of Education

Although the emphasis of an archangel is often focused on spiritual wisdom, Jophiel is also said to be present in the areas of education, inspiring those attending schools and colleges and other places of education. He is said to place his presence in these institutions in order to combat ignorance, mediocrity, pride and narrow-mindedness and impressors with more divinely inspired presentations of lessons and more advanced systems of teaching.

Experience Jophiel's Joy and Laughter

Sometimes in solving problems, Jophiel is credited with introducing us with creative solutions and bringing joy, light and laughter to the process. This may include studying for exams, concentration or meeting with co-workers or bosses. Jophiel can be applied to for assistance with absorbing information, passing tests and dissolving blocks to our own clear seeing and knowing. Sometimes the introduction of joy and laughter frees our minds to experience inner light, inner knowledge, happiness and the very creative power of God.

Archangel Jophiel Speaks to Spiritual Seekers Today

Archangel Jophiel continues to inspire and uplift spiritual seekers through his messages of light in the modern world. Jophiel's heartstream on May 21, 2005:

I am a servant of the fount of the Father's wisdom manifest through its practical ingenuity in you. This practicality is the intuitive gift that is the end result of the use of illumination to serve life, to raise mannish out of a low life of simply survival in an animal consciousness. For wisdom does spark that inner knowledge of the soul that discerns the need to know the light and power of the Father manifest through the love of the Mother combined in the offspring of perfect wisdom through the Son / Daughter Spirit of God.

Thus, you must know the birthing within greater wisdom if you are to be transported higher in spiritual understanding and theby teach others the way. Meeting a people who have borne this fount of inner wisdom for centuries will assist you in discerning a new paradigm of thinking, of intuiting and of cloaking all that you perceive in the golden-yellow color of our gift to you.

Public Relations Resources: On-Stage Or On-Camera Tips

Public Relations are all about persuasion of perception by the public about you, your company or product, or the cause you represent. Regardless of these variables, you have been tasked with the responsibility to be the face of the PR effort, but you do not want either a shining or a washed-out face, inappropriate clothes or an ill-prepared message. What you want is to be a solid, confident, respectful and believable representative of the cause.

It does not matter if this is a live appearance before an audience or on camera for live or delayed broadcast with or without an audience. For the next 3 to 5 minutes (rarely there will be more time), you and the cause must be a seamless presentation. If this is a first-time experience, there are many pitfalls to avoid. The producer of the event will want you on your best behavior and will want you to succeed; your success is their success as well.

Tips for a stage or camera public relations appearance:

Clothing: choose a suit or dress with solid colors or a heel print rather than a loud pattern. The cut of the fabric should appear loose and comfortable, not a second skin and not a baggy hand-me-down appearance. Tight fitting clothes, short dresses and loud prints will take over the message and will be what is remembered, not unnecessarily you or your message. Do you look like the professional bearing an important message for public consumption, or a performer limited to a one-time shot?

Props: If you are promoting a product or a book, have samples available to display during your presentation and to give to the host and producer, and even to other guests (off stage); they may be a target audience as well. Be prepared to discuss product features and benefits appealing to the public wherever live or watching on TV. If a book is promoted, be ready for commentary on its primary message, plot and characters. If you're the author, sign the books.

Make-up: Even if you are familiar with make-up, stage make-up (with or without a camera) is specifically applied to work with stage and studio lighting, none of which is like normal daylight or artificial room lighting with which you are familiar. Do not refuse make-up. Without it, you will appear washed-out. This was Richard Nixon's mistake in his infamous debt with opposition candidate John Kennedy in 1960. No one will remember you or your product or message; just the blank face that does not promote.

Focus on the host during the interview: Ignore the camera and, for the most part, the audience. Face the host and respond to his / her questions by eye contact. Be yourself, be conversational. After all, if you were not already a calm, relaxed person, someone else would have been chosen to promote the product or policy . Being genuine gives credence to the message.
