How is Materialism Destroying Society?

When tough economic times hit, there is always the question as to whether greed is the cause of our economic problems. However, this isn’t necessarily the root of the problem. It is a bit more complex than that. Railing against the greed in capitalism doesn’t take into consideration the other factors that are equally present. Greed can also be for power. Power comes with money, but it isn’t always the money people are after. This is why big government is as dangerous as corporate monopolies. The people who have consolidated significant power tend to be corrupted by it. As human beings, we all tend to lean toward materialism in our actions, and find our personal significance and value in things we control and own.

There is a spiritual aspect to the problem of materialism. It is a worldview that fuels greed. Our society has been increasingly embracing the worldview of naturalism, of which materialism is a part. Naturalism holds that knowledge is limited to what we can see and that everything must be thought of in physical terms. Naturalism ignores the spiritual aspects of life, considering them more like superstitions. So we tend to move toward seeking our personal value in the things we possess and the things we control. To make matters worse, we also discount objective truth. The end result is there are no standard set of values we all hold common, and that means there is no foundation for society to build on.

So in America, we have come to equate financial wealth with a higher level of happiness. This is partly what is wrong with the caste system in India. The belief behind it is materialistic. This worldview is illustrated well in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. However, what we really need is a purpose for our life. But we can’t find purpose in physical things. Since we have decided that objective truth can only be found in scientific conclusions, we have dismissed the existence of truth beyond what we can see, hear, feel, taste, or touch. Yet there is a non-physical reality where we find our sense of purpose and meaning in life. We are ignoring half of the knowledge we could be gaining by ignoring the knowledge from the non-physical realm. In Hosea 4:6 in the Old Testament, it tells us what happens when we lack knowledge. There are moral shortcomings that lead to a downfall. The ways of the people are characterized by self gratification and greed.

So the real solution to our economic and financial problems doesn’t lie in putting our trust in an economic theory about what will restore our economy, but rather it lies in recognizing the thinking that has led us astray. As a nation we are turning away from the Bible as a source of moral authority, which was certainly in the minds of the founders of our country. It is found throughout the federal and state constitutions, as well as our Bill of Rights. It even says on our money “In God We Trust”. It was this moral compass that has guided legislation in the early years of our country. But, as we have strayed from those original moral principles, we have caused the problems we have today. We have led our citizens to strange ideas about how the world works, and they have adopted them. We have let the marginalization of faith and the emphases on a materialistic worldview dominate, governed by a postmodern philosophy that denies any objective truth. It confuses our laws and destroys the core of what made this country strong.

Each individual can rise above this problem by returning to the Bible as a moral guide for their own lives and no matter what happens to us as a nation, they will find the strength through their faith in God to do what is good and right. They will find a sense of purpose that will give them the power to overcome adversity and will be the last ones standing in the end. These will be the people who were able to recognize their faith in God and the truth of the Bible heeding the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5 where it tells us to trust the Lord and not lean on our own understanding. We know what God teaches us in the Bible is reliable, and if we place our trust in that most reliable source, we’ve gone a long way to rising above the problems we have today.

An Introduction To Tractors

The word tractor originated from the Latin word “trahere,” meaning pull. Today, tractors are used for drawing in, towing or pulling objects that are extremely hard to move. You commonly see a tractor on farms used to push agricultural machineries or trailers that plough or harrow fields.

The first tractors from the 1800s and early 1900s, were powered by steam engines. These tractors were phased out due to the instability of the steam engine that caused explosions, or trapped the driver in a belt driven attachment. The successors were built with an internal combustion engine.

Modern tractors are built with a rollover protection system (ROPS) that protects the operator from being crushed in the event that the vehicle rolls over. It was the New Zealand legislation that first required the ROPS to be built-in to tractors in the 1960s. Before this system was required, many farmers were killed in accidents when the tractors rolled on top of them, crushing them in the process. Usually these accidents happen when tractors were driven along steep slopes.

Technology has found its way into modernizing the tractor. Nowadays, you find Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and on-board computers attached to farm tractors. With the use of advance technology, corporate-scale farms are using a combination of unmanned tractors and manually driven vehicles to plow through fields.

Aside from the standard farm tractors, there are other types of tractors. There are the backhoe tractors used for construction, small demolitions, and light transportation, powering building equipment, digging holes, breaking asphalt and paving roads. Tractors can also be fitted with engineering tools for construction purposes. Road tractors that are often used for freight transfers are also available, and locomotive tractors are used in railway vehicles. Artillery tractors used by the military to tow artillery pieces can also be seen.

Yoga’s Supine Poses Revealed

The word supine means “lying on the back”, and there are a number of yoga poses that are practiced while lying flat on the back and facing upwards. The supine postures are a normal part of all types of yoga, whether it is Ashtanga, Bikram, Hatha, Kriya or Sivanada yoga session. The Basic Supine Postures that are done while lying flat on the back include:

Leg Pulls: They are used as preliminary postures that relax the body. They also relieve stretched hamstrings and strengthen the legs.

Leg Raises: These include single and double leg raises, and are mostly performed as beginning postures in order to prepare the body for more difficult asanas to follow. It is great for relaxing the back and strengthening the legs and hips.

Wind Relieving Pose: Acts as a relaxer and also improves the working of the digestive organs. It is recommended for people suffering from indigestion and flatulence.

In addition, there are a number of variations of the supine postures, which include Supine Backbends such as:

Bridge Pose: This posture is very beneficial in building and improving the core strength of the body. It energizes the body and is very helpful in stimulating the endocrine and nervous systems.

Fish Pose: A great way to stimulate the respiratory, nervous and cardiovascular systems, this pose opens the chest and stretches the spine too. People suffering from back and neck injury should not practice the fish pose.

Supine Twists like:

Belly Twist: This posture strengthens the abdominal muscles along with stretching the back muscles and lengthens the spine. Due to this reason, it is also known as the Spinal Twist.

Knee down Twist: This twist stretches and strengthens the back muscles and rejuvenates the spinal discs.

And Supine Hip Openers:

Joyful Baby Pose: One of the basic hip opening postures, it also strengthens the legs and relieves lower back pain along with lengthening and realigning the spine.

Supine Bound Angle: A simple posture for opening the hips and the shoulders, also allows time to practice breathing techniques for relaxation.

Supine Pigeon: Mostly used as a warm up asana for a yoga class, it is very useful for strengthening the back and enhances flexibility of the hips.

Extended Supine Hand to Toe: A variation of the normal hand to toe asana, it is helpful in making the hips and groin more flexible. This pose is more suitable for advanced yogis as it requires extending the leg at a right angle to the hips.

Other advanced supine asanas include the leg to side yoga pose, leg reclining lunges, half shoulder stand, plow pose and upward bow pose. The basic postures are the most easy and undemanding to do; they are suitable for all yoga levels from beginners to advance. As the poses get more complex and hard to attain, it is important to practice only those supine poses that are within your health and physical fitness boundaries. Overdoing your yoga routine can even be harmful in particular for those that suffer from various ailments or health problems. So it is extremely important to use caution and listen to the demands of your body while practicing yoga.

In either case the first step is to find some woodworking plans and information that spark your interest and creativity.

Equipped with the right plan you will have a list of materials needed for your project, the tools and equipment required and assembly instructions complete with easy to follow diagrams. One note here is that when you are using equipment for the first time it is very important to understand how to use it properly to avoid injuries and to make sure your projects come out right. You can talk to the store where you are buying the particular piece of equipment, go online to the manufacturer’s website or talk to a friend that has some expertise.

If you are new to woodworking you may look at a piece and think that it would be easy to make when in fact that may or may not be the case. You want to start with simple projects. This allows you to get your feet wet in reading plans as well as becoming proficient in the use of both manual and power tools that you will be using as you progress.

One good place to start is to build a workbench for yourself. The reason for this is twofold. As you find more projects to work on you are going to need a strong steady surface to do this and secondly it is a relatively inexpensive project. I wish at the time that the internet was around as it would have made the learning curve much quicker and more economical.

In conclusion, once you have completed a few simple projects you will find that you will be looking at a piece somewhere and say to yourself “I can do that better”. At this point you are only limited by your own creativity and ingenuity.

Natural De-Worming for Your Pets – You Can Have Naturally Worm Free Animals!

Worms. Not something we want to think about, right? But did you know that if your pet has worms they could be compromising their health, and can even lead to death if untreated? And did you know that if your pet has worms, you can also become infected with worms? Think of that as your dog or cat snuggles up with you in bed.

Conventional treatment falls into three chemical classes:

  • Macrocycliclactones (ivermectin, moxidectin)
  • Benzimidazoles (fenbendazole)
  • Pyrimidines (pyrantel)

Growing scientific evidence is mounting showing that parasites are building up a resistance to conventional chemical de-wormers. This is causing super parasites that are immune to most chemicals, much like the overuse of antibiotics has caused super bugs that nothing can eliminate. Not to mention the side effects of the chemicals themselves.

Some possible side effects include:

  • Colic Swollen Neck and Glands
  • Allergic reactions
  • Laminitis in Horses
  • Various Gut Disturbances and Problems
  • Skin Reactions Tongue Hanging Out,
  • Horse Drooling
  • Disturbances in the Hoof Walls of Horses
  • Internal Damage
  • Damage to the Animals Immune System
  • And in rare cases, even Death

So what are your options? You don’t want your pet to have worms and you don’t want to poison your pet with chemicals. Fortunately, Mother Nature provides what we need if we know where to look. One great option is food grade Diatomaceous Earth. It is truly one of Mother Nature’s greatest gifts.

Diatomaceous Earth is a fossilized deposit of microscopic shells created by one celled plants called Diatoms. Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth can be used for many things around the home and in agriculture. Food grade diatomaceous earth is EPA approved to be mixed with grains to control mealworms and other pests, against indoor and outdoor crawling insects, as an anti-caking agent for animal feed and food grade diatomaceous earth is FDA approved for internal and external use. It has been given a GRAS (generally regarded as safe) rating by the FDA.

This is only a partial list of the benefits of Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth:

  • Natural wormer – eliminates many parasites without chemicals
  • Safe, non-toxic, parasites don’t build immunity as they do with traditional wormers
  • 15 trace minerals – great for animals, humans, plants, and soil
  • Helps detox heavy metals, E.coli, bacteria, viruses, etc.
  • Promotes shinier coats
  • Digestive aid Colon cleanser
  • Better overall health
  • Eliminates pests in stored grains
  • Reduces flies, fleas, ticks, etc.
  • Reduces manure odor
  • Drying agent
  • Antifungal properties – good for garden fungal growths

Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth is made of fossilized microscopic hard shells and as it comes in contact with insects it penetrates and removes their waxy outer layer causing them to lose moisture and dehydrate. Unlike chemical wormers, the parasites never build up a resistance and because it works gradually there is no danger of complications from die-off in the case of heavy infestation.

You can have naturally worm free animals. There are several good options available, herbal formulations, homeopathic remedies, and food grade diatomaceous earth, to name a few. All work very well when used properly, along with simple diet and lifestyle tweaks. Here are a few recommendations:

Feeding the best quality food and water free of chemicals and fillers. Cleaning up fecal droppings regularly In dogs and cats make sure you are eliminating fleas with non toxic natural flea remedies, as fleas lead to tape worm infestation. In horses, use natural fly repellants as flies that lay their eggs in the manure can lead to a viscous cycle of re-infestation. Using a product like Wormfree Naturally regularly, not just when you see worms, to break the cycle of re-infestation

I like the idea of using a product like Wormfree Naturally that contains food grade diatomaceous earth along with pro-biotics. It addresses the internal parasites, halts re-infestation by eliminating larvae in the manure, while also offering trace minerals and pro-biotics that are essential for a healthy digestive tract. Why wouldn’t you want to do that for your pets? Can chemical de-wormers do all that?

How to Get Rid of a Pimple Fast – 5 Methods For How to Get Rid of a Pimple Fast

If you’re like me, you probably feel like you’ve tried everything when it comes to getting rid of an annoying pimple.

But in this article I’m going to give you 5 different methods for how to get rid of a pimple fast.

Method 1

Pour a little bit of arm and hammer baking soda into a bowl. Mix a little bit of water with it until you have a paste. Rub this paste on your pimple and let it sit for a few minutes. After you do that, go ahead and clean your whole face with the paste.

This is probably my favorite method for how to get rid of a pimple fast. Baking Soda gently exfoliates your skin and clears away dead skin cells and helps to loosen blackheads (which turn into pimples)!

Method 2

Apply a small bit of plain toothpaste to your nasty pimple. This will dry the zit up and relieve the redness and swelling and can even work overnight.

Method 3

Acne is caused by excess oil and bacteria on your face. You can use Witch Hazel as an astringent to remove that excess oil after you wash your face. Be sure to moisturize though. Excess dryness can irritate pimples and make acne worse.

Method 4

Remember putting glue on your hands and then peeling it off when you were a kid?

You can remove blackheads and exfoliate your skin just like that, with Elmer’s Glue. It’s water soluble so it’s safe to apply to skin. Apply it over your face, avoiding eyes, nostrils, and mouth. Then let it dry and peel it off.

Method 5

To bring a pimple to a whitehead quickly so that it will heal faster, take a tea bag and dip it in a cup of warm water. Don’t squeeze it out. Next rub the tea bag on the pimple gently.

These methods for how to get rid of a pimple fast are great for quick pimple relief, but are only intended for mild occasional acne.

They work well though, and should be used because they are natural and are much better than putting harsh chemicals on your face.

Tankini, Bandini, Or Thong, Oh My!

Choose the Right Bikini for Summer

In 1946, Louis Reard, an engineer – and a Frenchman, of course! – fashioned a two-piece women’s swimsuit from 30 inches of fabric. Reard’s rival in bikini design, Jacques Helm, was actually the first to create the iconic two-piece swimsuit of the 20th century. Helm called his design the “atome” in a nod to the smallest particle in the world known at the time. A marketing genius, Reard introduced his skimpy two-piece design five days after the United States began atomic tests in the Bikini Atoll and named it “bikini” to suggest that it would have the same explosive impact on society as an A-bomb.

The bikini is a women’s two-piece swimsuit that covers the breast and groin areas. It was considered risqué when it first appeared in 1946, but the two-piece design was actually a throwback to very ancient times. Wikipedia cites the earliest form of a bikini appearing in the Chalcolithic Era (3500 BCE to 1700BCE). Bikinis appear in ancient Roman mosaics and murals, suggesting they were popular as swimming costumes among Roman women. Archaeologists have found Minoan wall paintings (circa 1600 BCE) showing a two-piece design very similar to the modern bikini, and women wearing bikinis appear on ancient Greek urns, ancient Sicilian floor mosaics, and statues from Pompeii.

Bikinis were accepted as mainstream swimwear fashion on the French Riviera long before being embraced by the public in the United States. The bikini was introduced to the U.S. in 1947, but its scandalous status remained in force well into the 1950s. Many American cities even passed laws to prohibit the wearing of a bikini in public. In 1957, Modern Girl magazine stated “It is hardly necessary to waste words over the so-called bikini since it is inconceivable that any girl with tact and decency would ever wear such a thing.” American women didn’t really jump on the bikini bandwagon until the late 1960s with the start of the so-called Sexual Revolution. Since that time, the bikini and its stylish variations have become the most popular swimsuit style in the U.S.

Because there are so many variations in bikini design, it helps to be familiar with the available styles before going shopping. Be aware, too, that your body shape and your level of self-confidence will also have an impact on the style you ultimately select.

Bikini Styles

The following bikini glossary provides basic descriptions of the many types of bikinis currently on the market.

String bikini – This classic, skimpy style features four strategically placed triangles connected by strings.

Tankini – A tank-style top and a traditional, string, or thong bottom.

Bandini – A strapless tube or bandeau top combined with a regular bikini bottom.

Camikini – A camisole top that will support larger breasts combined with any type of bikini bottom.

Thong – A bikini top with a bottom that covers the groin with a small piece of fabric connected by strings on the sides and between the buttocks.

Halter bikini – A top with a strap that circles the neck and attaches to the bodice combined with a traditional bikini bottom.

Micro bikini – A string bikini top with tiny triangles that cover the nipples and little more, with a g-string bottom.

Monokini – A skimpy bikini connected with a strip of fabric that runs from top to bottom or a bikini bottom worn without a top.

Sports Bikini – Worn by women who love sports, it features a top that is as supportive as a bra and a traditional bikini bottom.

Seekini – Any type of bikini that is “see-through” and usually can be worn only on certain beaches.

Bikini Materials, Colors, and Care

Armed with this knowledge of the most popular bikini styles, you can now move on to consider the type of material your bikini is made of, its color options, and the care it will require. The best selection of bikini styles and style options can be found by visiting a regular brick-and-mortar store or an online shop that lets you mix and match tops and bottoms for the best fit. The ability to combine tops and bottoms also lets you be creative in using solid colors and/or patterns to develop your own personal bikini style.

Bikini Grooming

And don’t forget the all-important need to groom your bikini hair to match the type of bikini you plan to wear. Select grooming products made especially for the pubic area, so you won’t suffer from ingrown hairs or rashes. Then you can be confident that you’ll look your fabulous best in your new bikini!

Face Painting Techniques – Ideas on How to Paint the Princess Crown Design

Is your daughter’s birthday drawing near and you are in the midst of a birthday party planning? If you are still scratching your head for party ideas, face painting is a good activity to go for. It has become more pronounced in recent years as more parents around the world are holding more birthday parties for their kids.

If you do not intend to hire a face painter for your daughter’s birthday party, you can learn how to paint Princess Crown on her face to make her really stand out. Simply follow the steps I provided below and with a couple of practices you (and your daughter) should be all set for her big day!

Here are some techniques on how to paint a Princess Crown.

Face Painting Tools needed:

• Water based face paint that is FDA approved. Snazaroo is a good choice

• One fine brush

• One medium brush

• One large brush

• One bowl of water

• One form makeup sponge

• Face Glitter

Step 1: Paint The Crown

Select the medium brush and the white paint. With it, paint a three-pointed crown on the forehead and fill it with white. This acts as the base coat. Then pick a silver or a gold color (for more majestic look) and fill the entire crown with it. Of course, if you prefer other colors like pink or purple, go ahead and use it. Add some circles at the tips of the three pointed ends to give it some extra “glory”. Paint the circles with white or some other lighter colors. You may then outline the entire crown with a black paint to give it some accent.

Step 2: Add A Diamond

Choose a contrasting color like purple, and paint a jewel or a diamond in the center of the crown. The diamond or jewel may be of any shape, but it is probably best to keep it simple as long as you make it stands out.

Step 3: More Details

Add some white or silver on the jewel or diamond to give it some shine. Put some glitter on top of it to make it sparkle. Using a white paint, you may create some swirls from both ends of the crowns (near the temples) down the cheeks.

To make the princess more stunning, put on a nice lipstick on your subject. I would take one step further to paint her eye lashes and add some glitter on them.

There you go, a nice princess crown sitting on a beautiful face!

Determining Antique Singer Sewing Machine Value

For many, the antique Singer sewing machine value is mostly, or partially, sentimental. Typically, the machine they own belonged to a family member and was passed down through the generations as an heirloom piece. This does not, however, mean that antique Singer machine value lies purely in the sentimental, or in the family tree. Many collectors seek out antique Singer sewing machines for their rarity, for their beauty and for the sheer craftsmanship that went into their creation.

Singer started to manufacture sewing machines back in 1851, later on in 1856, they offered the first home-use model, which was cost prohibitive to most consumers at the time. Most people who purchased a Singer model in the 1850s did so on a payment plan, much the same as a credit card today.

These earlier models were stand mounted and featured one pedal while later models featured lock-stitch shuttles (patented by Singer in 1859) and two pedals. The machine that started a home-sewn revolution was so popular, it even had its own “action figures”-toy and miniature sewing machines made of cast iron.

Over the next several decades, Singer focused on creating more affordable models for home-use through mass production, leaving the original beauties behind. In the early 1900s, cabinet enclosures and even flip-top sewing machine tables were made, followed by various changes that lead to today’s plastic models.

The original models from the mid to late 1800s may be valued in the high thousands depending on their condition, model, original extras, the casing and of course, the market as well as the pool of potential buyers. While condition is certainly a factor, antique Singer sewing machine value is based more on the year of production and the type of machine.

Factors that may be considered in determining the value of your antique Singer sewing machine include decoration on the machine and whether it is older, with a one pedal treadle or two pedal treadles. In addition, if the machine is in working condition with all of the original parts, the value will rise substantially. To get information about your pre-1900 Singer sewing machine, you can contact the Singer manufacturer at 1-800-4-SINGER for a verbal appraisal and have your model type, serial number and wits ready.

Maintaining A Normal Blood Glucose Level Through Exercise

Doctors have always recommend exercise as one of the effective ways to start controlling your diabetes. As little as fifteen to thirty minutes of daily, heart-pumping exercise can help to maintain a normal blood glucose control and reduce your risk of developing diabetic complications. One of the easiest and least expensive ways of getting moving is to start a walking program. All you need is a good pair of well-fitting, supportive shoes and a direction to head in.

So how does exercise help to maintain a normal blood glucose level? When you exercise, your body uses glucose for energy. During the first fifteen minutes of your workout routine, your body converts the glycogen stored in your muscles back into glucose and also uses the glucose circulating in your bloodstream for fuel. This action causes the natural blood-glucose-lowering effect of exercise.

After fifteen minutes of exercise, your body turns to the liver to convert its glycogen stockpile into glucose energy. After about thirty minutes, your cells will also begin to burn free fatty acids for fuel. Once the glycogen stores are used up, without a carb refueling in the form of food, hypoglycemia is a real danger, particularly to those with type 1 diabetes.

Before you get moving, test your glucose levels. If they are less than 100 mg/dl, don’t start working out without a carbohydrate snack for fuel. A fast-acting carb should be available during and after your workout, in case you need it.

To maintain a normal blood glucose level, you do not need to perform gravity defying stunts such as skydiving. There are a lot of household tasks that you perform daily, which are actually calorie-burning, heart-pumping ways to reduce your sugar levels. Some of the activities are in the list below:

  • Washing windows or floors for 45 minutes
  • Waxing a car for 45 minutes
  • Pushing a stroller 1.5 miles in 30 minutes
  • Walking 2 miles in 30 minutes
  • Watering the garden flowers for minutes
  • Riding a bicycle for 15 minutes
  • Shoveling snow for 20 minutes
  • Walking up or down the stairs for 20 minutes

As you can see, virtually everyone who has the capability to move can exercise to some degree. Even if you suffer from diabetic complications or other health issues, your doctor can also recommend a form of exercise that is appropriate for maintaining a normal blood glucose level. If you are interested in more information related to effective diabetic exercise, easy and free diabetic food receipes , you can read about them here: Living With Diabetes Guide

Three Butt Injection Disasters

While large breasts used to be considered a woman’s most feminine feature, it seems that recently a voluptuous derriere has claimed the spotlight. As a consequence, more and more women are seeking to accentuate their derriere through procedures such as the Brazilian butt lift and butt implants.

While these procedures might be safe when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon in a hospital or outpatient surgical setting, they can be extremely dangerous when done by a dubious practitioner in an unaccredited office. In the worst case, such procedures can prove fatal. Read on to learn about three recent butt injection procedures that caused grief and horror instead of beauty and happiness.

2009: Death of a Beauty Queen in the Name of a Firmer Behind

A former Miss Argentina was a successful model, the owner of her own modeling school, and the mother of seven-year-old twins. At age 38, she was still receiving numerous modeling offers. Unfortunately, even this successful woman was not immune to Argentina’s obsession with the body beautiful and love for plastic surgery. She booked herself for a buttock lift at a prominent cosmetic surgery clinic in Buenos Aires. She though the procedure was going to be very simple, as she was supposed to receive only injections.

However, after being injected with polimetilmetacrilate, she developed respiratory problems, was rushed to a hospital, and soon died of a pulmonary embolism. While the precise cause of her death is unknown, several Argentinean surgeons have suggested that perhaps the injected substance was improperly injected into the capillaries. Once in the bloodstream, it traveled to the lungs and caused the fatal embolism.

2009: Mexican Rock Star’s Near Death Experience

A prominent musician was enjoying popularity and fame as one of Mexico’s most successful female rock stars when she decided to improve her look by receiving a liquid butt lift. She booked herself into a cosmetic surgery clinic, where she received injections to her buttocks. Soon after, she developed severe respiratory complications and was rushed to a hospital. The doctors managed to save her life after removing all of the foreign substance from her body.

2011: Death of a British Woman in a Philadelphia Hotel Room

In February 2011, a dancer and aspiring rapper from the U.K. died after traveling to Philadelphia for a butt lift procedure. The treatment was performed in a hotel room near the Philadelphia International Airport. Preliminary investigation indicates that the person who performed the injections was not a physician, and the substance that was used was not an FDA-approved injectable. Instead, it appears that the injected substance was an illicit chemical, such as non-medical-grade liquid silicone, petroleum jelly or hydrogel. The women was only 20 years old and had no health problems prior to receiving the injections.

Use Caution and Good Judgment

As these stories indicate, butt injections can be fatal when performed by unlicensed practitioners using unsafe substances. However, not all buttock augmentation procedures end badly. In fact, when performed by a reputable plastic surgeon in a hospital or surgical center, the insertion of soft, solid butt implants can deliver beautiful, long-lasting results, as can fat grafting to the buttocks. If you desire to undergo these procedures, use plenty of caution and your best judgment to select a trustworthy surgeon who will use only FDA-approved techniques and materials. This is the same approach you should employ when contemplating any other cosmetic surgery procedure, including a breast augmentation, liposuction, body lift or tummy tuck procedure.

Use your imagination to make the games unique to your audience, event, and personal preference. But, just to get you started in the right direction, here are 5 Christian party game ideas that are sure to work at your next event:

  • ELEVATOR TESTIMONY GAME: Great as a game or Christian icebreaker. Go around the room and have each person give a personal testimony in 30 seconds to 1 minute or less.
  • WHAT FAMOUS CHRISTIAN AM I?: This game is really simple. Divide your group into teams. Next, read out loud the description of a biblical character, famous Christian artist, or Christian celebrity and give the team/individual a set time to answer the question. Or whomever answers the question first wins.
  • BIBLE CHARADES GAME: Have an outgoing competitive group? Then bible charades is perfect. Bible charades is played just like any other charades game, but with a bible theme. Divide the group into two teams of at least three people each. Decide on a time limit – between 3 and 5 minutes – for each round. Prior to starting the game, groups should decide on specific hand signals and pantomimes that will represent books, movies, songs, etc.
  • BIBLE BINGO: Bingo will always be a favorite. I’ve played bible bingo on so many occasions I can’t even count, but the point is it was fun and I could play it a million times and always enjoy it. The key to bingo is having great prizes (they don’t have to be expensive either). Create a bingo card and have your guests fill in the spaces with biblical topics like books of the bible, famous bible prophets, or names of women in the bible. Then call out names, books, etc. from your own pre-written list.
  • I AM BLESSED ICEBREAKER: Simply go around the room and give each person the opportunity to complete the following sentence, “I know I am blessed because__________”. If you like, you can have your guests write their answers on index cards when they arrive and place them in a basket for a drawing some time during the event.

See what I mean, simple. Once you get a creative nudge in the right direction coming up with Christian games really is a snap. One caution though, keep in mind the personalities of your guests when selecting or creating games and activities. You don’t want to unintentionally alienate or offend anyone. Right?

If you have a group of shy or quiet guests, you may or may not want to play games that pull them out of their comfort zone, unless of course that is your goal. On the other hand, if you have a group of outgoing, rowdy guests, you may want to choose something more fast-paced and interactive.

Be blessed!

Cooking With the Electric Teppanyaki Grill – How to Get the Best From Your Teppanyaki Grill Plate

Originating in Japan Teppanyaki is a style of cooking that has become particularly appreciated in the wider world, more so even than in Japan itself. The word ‘Teppanyaki’ is an amalgam of two words, ‘Teppan’, meaning an iron plate, and ‘Yaki’ which translates as ‘pan fried’, ‘broiled’ or ‘grilled’. Foods typically cooked in this style would include various meats, poultry and sea foods.

This method of cooking lends itself to outdoor use, possibly fired with charcoal or gas, or, more importantly when heated with electricity, it allows us to bring the grill indoors. The purpose of this article is to concentrate on the Teppanyaki cooking method inside the house.

Almost everyone I know loves either hosting, or being invited to someone else’s barbecue. This is an excellent way to meet up with friends whilst enjoying good food and great company. These are the times that we look back on with fond memories. Of course there are times when these occasions have to be postponed because of inclement weather and for some of us; the winters can be long and dark. This is electric Teppanyaki grill time!

Electric Teppanyaki Grills are incredibly cheap to buy, take a look, you’ll be surprised. They are cheap to run, very reliable and easy to clean. They are also incredibly easy to use. Anyone who can cook an egg can use a Teppanyaki grill. Unlike many charcoal and gas grills they do not produce a raging inferno. Many of us have seen the novice with a new charcoal BBQ sharing soot blackened meat that is raw inside. This does not happen with Teppanyaki.

You can have confidence that when you turn on your electric Teppanyaki grill it is not going to attack you or your food! Most models generally on sale have thermostatic temperature control and you’ll soon realise that meats that need searing will require the grill to be turned onto maximum and allowed to heat up. Use tongs to place your (previously oiled) meat onto the grill, sear and turn the meat. Once this is done turn the temperature down. Once the meat has been sealed by searing, it needs to cook through and you can do this gently.

A general tip, if this is new to you, is to ensure that you know which steaks or burgers are to be well done. You can ‘cheat’ by putting a small cut in the meat to see how the cooking is coming along and serve your rare and medium cooked meats based on your observations of someone else’s food! Naughty but forgivable.

More experienced cooks can really shine. What might otherwise have been a barbecue in different weather can now become an informal dinner party. The host or hostess can cook food in front of their friends just as might be seen in a Japanese steak house. Salad or vegetables can be pre-prepared and eaten on a serve yourself basis. This takes the concept of the stodgy old dinner party to a whole new level.

I know that you are going to love turning a wet and windy afternoon or evening into a stunning event that your friends and family will love. If you are a little nervous, don’t worry, you can always practice on the kids first!

DIY Butcher Block Oil Recipes

Restoring the luster of your wooden cutting boards and butcher blocks is easy and inexpensive! There are many products on the market you can use that come in fancy packaging, but it is easy to prepare your own DIY product. Keeping your cutting boards conditioned prolongs their life and keeps them sanitary so it’s good to have something on hand for regular use. This article shares three very easy recipes for treating your butcher boards when they have become dry, need refinishing, or repair.

You will need:

Food grade mineral oil

Beeswax

Scale

Container – glass jars and old coffee cans work great

Pot – to use as double boiler

Sanitized stir stick – wooden ones work great

Always start with an impeccably clean and super dry butcher board. Wash it down with vinegar the night before and let it air dry while you sleep. The next morning, condition your clean dry board using one of the following methods.

The first method isn’t really a “recipe” at all. It’s just plain old food grade mineral oil. There are loads of different ideas out there on which oils go rancid and which oils are best to use. In general, food grade mineral oil is considered the best all around oil to use on your wooden cutting surfaces. It is odorless, colorless, inexpensive, and most definitely will not go rancid. It can be easily found at your local hardware store or drug store. To treat your butcher board with mineral oil gently rub warmed oil onto the wood and allow it to soak in. Get your oil warm, not hot. If you are like me and do not have a “nuker”, simply use a double boiler on the stove top. Just be careful as the oil is obviously flammable. This is a great regular treatment to keep your board conditioned.

The second recipe is for a creamy board oil or “Dream Cream” as I call it. This is a rich mixture of mineral oil and beeswax. Adding beeswax to your oil increases its water resistance and adds a very slight luster to the finish. Parafin can also be used. It is odorless and much less expensive; however, I personally prefer beeswax. This is a great treatment for a board that has become very dry or has been sanded down for refinishing. The recipe calls for 9 parts food grade mineral oil to 1 part beeswax.

Measure out 1 part wax to 9 parts oil. Wax beads are available or you can shave wax pieces off a block like I did.

Heat the oil and wax slowly until the oil is warm and the wax has melted. Make sure to stir and incorporate the wax as it melts.

Pour a little of the melted product onto your butcher board and rub it in making sure to get all surfaces, especially the cut edges. Allow it to soak in before using the board to prepare food. The consistency of this recipe is a little like hair gel after it cools a bit and gets firmer as it gets colder. It will melt into the board like butter as you apply it. It can be used warm or cold; However, I think it works better and faster when it’s warm.

The third recipe is for a paste style “board wax”. This is a rich ultra fat mixture of oil and beeswax. It is thick and waxy and offers loads of water resistance once the wax has hardened. It can be buffed to a soft luster and looks beautiful. Use this recipe as a polishing paste or crack filler. Keeping the occasional cracks and knife marks filled extends the life of your board!

This recipe is 4-5 parts food grade mineral oil to 1 part beeswax. Heat the oil and incorporate the wax as above. Rub it into the board. Allow the oil to soak in and the wax to harden before buffing it out and preparing food on it. If used warm, this wax will spread a thinner layer. If used cold it is quite thick and pasty and will give you a heavier coating.

Your wood should be treated regularly to keep it from drying out and cracking! The treatment frequency and the type of butcher block oil you need to use depends on many variables; such as climate and how often your board is used and washed. You will have to be the judge. These “recipes” will not only beautifully condition your butcher board but will add to its lifetime. They will also keep indefinitely. Once you have a batch made up it will be easy to grab off the shelf and use all year long!
