The Giant’s Causeway and the Wishing Chair of Ireland

The Giant’s Causeway, which is located at the northern coast of Northern Ireland, is Ireland’s only World Heritage site. It has one of the most remarkable rock formations which are made up of 37,000 dark hexagonal shape columns standing beneath the grey cliffs of northern Antrim. The Giant’s Causeway consists of the Little Causeway, Middle Causeway and Grand Causeway. Interestingly, looking from the sky, the shape of the Grand Causeway resembles the tail of a lizard.

According to a legend, these hexagonal rocks were actually placed by a giant called Finn MacCool. He placed the rocks there to form a bridge which spans across the sea and reaches the island Staffa in Scotland. There are similar columns found in Scotland. This bridge served as a walkway for the woman he loved who was staying at the island of Staffa. He provided this walkway for her to get across to him without getting her feet wet. The giant, Finn MacCool, indeed showed his deep love for this woman by building this bridge so that she could reach him with ease, comfort and convenience. At the tip of the Middle Causeway, there is a rocky seat which is known as the Wishing Chair. It was told that this chair was made for the giant, Finn MacCool, when he was a child. As the legend says, all wishes made by anyone at the Wishing Chair will come true. Perhaps, the giant had wished before that he could build the causeway one day and his wish had come true!

The geologists, however, have come up with some explanations about the existence of these amazing rock formations. According to them, these formations were created about 60 million years ago due to massive volcanic eruptions. The layer of tholeiitic basalt lava cooled rapidly causing the rocks to crack into polygonal-shaped blocks. At the end of the Ice Age, about 15,000 years ago, the sea water eroded the foreshore, thus forming the Giant’s Causeway today.

How the incredible rock formations actually come about is still a mystery. Nonetheless, the Giant’s Causeway is too much of a wonder to be missed. With the intriguing legend and awesome rock formations, it has become a magical place worthwhile to visit. If you are keen to take a vacation trip and looks forward to beautiful sceneries and mysterious places, you may consider visiting this legendary place and discover the wonder of it for yourself. Why not bring your loved one to the Giant’s Causeway and profess your love at the causeway? It would be a meaningful gesture, since it was told that the bridge came into existence because of a man’s deep love for his woman. Wouldn’t it also be romantic to walk in this “causeway of love” with your loved one? It would certainly thrill and touch your beloved. Besides having the opportunity of sharing the wonderful experience of discovering the wonders of this place with your loved one, you can also spend a romantic time together. It would be a lasting experience for both of you.

If you go to the Giant’s Causeway, it would be marvelous to visit the Wishing Chair as well and make a wish there. Remember, the giant could have made a wish to build the Giant’s Causeway and it came into existence. So, do not be surprise if your wish really comes true! How to Complete a DA 1380 for Retirement Point Credit and Pay

There are two ways you can get the DA 1380. One way is through an Internet search. The other way is from your unit. Once you have your DA 1380, how do you get started?

Here’s a scenario.

You reported to Fort Eustis one morning, at their aviation medicine, to do your Phase 1 Airborne Physical. Phase 1 takes you all morning to complete. You’re finished in the middle of lunch.

You come back the following week for Phase 2. After Phase 2, you return to your unit and provide them copies of the results of your airborne physical. While doing this at your unit, you also prepare and submit a school request.

While you’re there, you decide to sign for missing field gear that you need for the upcoming field training exercise. You see your supply sergeant. Right after you sign for your needed items, he informs you that additional items came for you from battalion supply.

By the time you get done with all of this, you have 15 minutes left to catch lunch at the DFAC.

How would you record this scenario on a DA 1380?

If you have a fillable DA 1380 form, open it up. If you have a blank copy, make another copy of it, and fill it out with pencil. Use a black pen on the actual copy for the neat finish if you do this by hand.

Block 1 is “date.” Since this is related to pay, or something that could affect pay, you want to use DFAS’s date format. That’s the “YYYYMMDD” format.

Block 2 is “from:” Print or type your unit and your unit’s address.

Block 3 is “Retirement Year Ending Date.”

Your Retirement Year Ending Date (RYE) is based on when you originally started your Army Reserve contract. This is based on your continuous contract. For example, your reserve contract started on November 1. Your RYE will be October 31 the following year.

Let’s say that you were on active duty before that, from April 1, 2010, to October 31, 2014. Your reserve contract began on November 1, 2014, the day after the last day of your active contract. Your current RYE would still be October 31, 2015, not March 31, 2015, because your initial active reserve contract, in a continuous reserve run, determines your RYE.

Review AR 140-185 for Retirement Year End Date details.

Fill this block using the “YYYYMMDD” format.

Block 4 is the “to” block. This will be the address of the staff that updates your record. For soldiers in the Troop Program Unit (TPU), this usually is your full time support staff.

This staff, mainly one of the unit administrators, will process your DA 1380.

Type “commander” all capitalized in this block. Underneath that, type the address of your unit where the support staff is located.

Your support staff will process this for retirement points if you used an “N” code. They’ll process your DA 1380 for retirement points and payment if you used a “P” code. If your support staff is unable to process this at the reserve center, they’ll forward this to the Battalion S1.

If you are an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA), or a member of the Individual Ready Reserves (IRR), you’ll use the HRC address for the office that updates your records.

Block 5 is your name. Type your name in the block in the order the block label shows.

Block 6 is your grade. Type in your pay grade. This is the alpha numeric code for your rank.

Block 7 is your branch. Enter your “Soldier’s Area of Concentration” (AOC) code/Primary Military Occupational Skill (MOS) in this block.

Block 8 is left blank unless block 4 is different from the unit of assignment.

Block 9 gives you an opportunity to mark the kind of training, duties, or instruction that you are involved with.

If you choose “other,” type the description in the box right next to “other.”

Block 9, Column A, is the date that you participated in the training. If the day, month, and year, are in separate columns, use the DD MM YYYY format respectively within the day, month, and year columns.

Block 9, Column B, list hours of training that you did.

Block 9, Column C, is the retirement points that you earned. There are two different coding to mark whether you get retirement points and pay or just get retirement points.

An “N” code marks non paid time. You only get retirement points. A “P” code marks paid time, you get both retirement point credit and pay.

A “1” right next to one of the lettering codes represents one training block of 4 hours; 2 hours if you participated in funeral honors as a member of the funeral detail. A “2” represents two training blocks. You could only get a maximum of “2” per day.

Using the above Airborne Physical scenario, you’d use “N1”. Phase I took the morning and part of lunch time to complete, approximately 4 hours. “N1” will give you one retirement point, but no pay.

In another scenario, where a Soldier does a full day RST, that day would be marked “P2”. A “P2” would give you two retirement points, and pay for two training blocks, or two training days.

Block 9, Column D, lists the nature of the duties that you performed, or training/instruction that you received. For the airborne physical scenario, you could put, “Airborne Physical, Phase I, at Fort Eustis, VA. Retirement points only.”

For the RST scenario, an example of the description could read, “Rescheduled Training (RST) to make up for battle assembly missed on October 25, 2014.” The second RST day would go in the next line, with the same information assuming that a full day of training was made up. The comment in this line could read, “Rescheduled Training (RST) to make up for battle assembly missed on October 26, 2014.

This scenario assumes that the Soldier did two RST days to make up for missing two days of drill.

Block 10 is a typed name, grade and position of the officer/NCO/official that observed you, or was aware of you performing the duties on the DA 1380. The names of the support staff members that observed you are common entries for block 10 and block 11.

Block 11 is the signature of the Soldier or qualified official listed in Block 10.

Some additional Notes:

1. If you’re assigned to a unit, submit this form to your unit. If you’re assigned to the IRR or IMA, submit this form to Human Resources Command (HRC). Submit it to the office that manages your pay, records, and points.

2. If you’re assigned to a unit, and you’re submitting this form straight to your Regional Personal Action Center (RPAC) or to HRC, you’re contributing to them being overwhelmed. This reduces their ability to do their own assigned mission.

3. Use one DA 1380 to cover one month. If your training event overlaps two months, submit two DA 1380s, one covering each month.

3. Don’t complete a DA 1380 for your Army correspondence courses/computer based courses if you complete them on your own.

If your commander authorized you, in writing, to enroll into a course, and to complete it, in order for you to get paid, then complete a DA 1380 for the course you just completed. Submit a certificate of completion, and the completed DA 1380, to those that manage your records. Check with your unit for specific policies covering this.

4. Depending on Army Reserve funding, and your unit, you can get paid to do your structured development courses on your own. Check your unit’s policy on this. If this is applicable to you, and you want to get paid, bring a certificate and a completed DA 1380 with you to your unit.

5. If your unit puts you on AT orders to come in to complete your structured development courses, then you only get paid for your AT orders. Use the certificate as documentation that you completed the course.

Lawn Mower Go Kart – Can I Use a Transmission From a Garden Tractor on a Go Cart?

The problem with a vertical engine is routing the power from the engine to a horizontal wheels on the go kart. Typically the standard method for transferring the power on vehicles involves a gear box. For example on a lawn tractor the gearbox is designed with a pulley on the top of the gear box. Additionally, because the main purpose of a riding lawnmower is to cut grass, so the vertical engine layout works very well driving a mower deck.

The temptation comes in to play to use the gear box in the gokart and keep the unit simple that way. Unfortunately, it is not really simpler, but more complex, not to mention unreliable.

Additionally, I would strongly steer you away from using a riding lawnmower gearbox for the following reasons:

– Width Of The Rear Axel System Is Too Narrow

– Gear Boxes Are Not Designed For High Speed As In 20+ Mph.

– Gear Box Engagement Requires Belt Tensioning Devices.

– Switching Gears On The Fly Is Not Possible Without Good Engine/Gearbox Knowledge.

Width of the rear axel system is too narrow. The width of a gokart drive wheel layout should be relatively speaking wide: 36″+. Riding lawnmowers are under that width and will pose a difficulty in powering the rear wheels. Mounting the gearbox is another issue that requires special bracketry that would need to be fabricated and mounted to the framework.

Gear boxes are not designed for high speed as in 20+ mph. This is a serious consideration, especially with gear boxes that do not require lubrication and do not have roller bearings.

Gear Box Engagement requires belt tensioning devices. Typically, the gearbox is activated by tensioning the belt.

Switching gears on the fly is not possible without good engine/gearbox knowledge. The gearbox on a riding lawnmower does not have synchronizers with it, so the gearbox must be completely idle or still for the gears to be switched.

Actually, in order to get gears to mesh properly, both the mating gears must be in the same position. This can be accomplished by running the gears at the same speed, but this does take some understanding of how a gear box operates. Unskilled drivers will have extreme difficulty getting the gearbox to work. More than likely, the gear box will be destroyed in a relatively short period of time, if shifting is considered on the fly.

Bottom line is that the transaxle is designed for tractor use and has some limitations. There are some better options that are lighter and more user friendly.

Next time other vertical engine drive systems.

AC Doesn’t Cool While at a Stop – Air Conditioning Blows Warm at Idle

There are several reasons why a cars AC may not cool when at a stop and blows cool only when moving. The most common reason is the cooling fan for the condenser is not working. It’s important to know that many times the cooling fan is shared by the radiator and condenser, other times there are TWO separate ones. The reason why a bad cooling fan can affect the AC so drastically is the fact that heat from refrigerant (Freon) is normally cooled when passing through the condenser. So even if the condenser fan is NOT working, it may not affect the AC while the car is moving at highway speeds. This is because air is passed through the condenser when driving down the road so the fan is not needed. When the car is at a stop, the condenser is totally dependent on the cooling fan to cool it down. Sometimes the cooling fan may be working, but it may be moving too slowly to sufficiently cool the condenser. To check the motor, a test light can be used to verify that it is getting power and ground to the electrical plug in. If power and ground is present and the motor is not working, the motor has an open circuit. When the cooling fan motor is worn, it may be started sometimes temporarily by lightly tapping on the electric fan motor with a small hammer or wrench. If the fan turns at all when this is done, replacing the motor will be necessary. This is just another way to verify that it is receiving the power it needs to operate. Also keep in mind that a cooling fan may start at any time (some even come on with the engine off) so be careful not to stick your hand in the way of the blades! Note that if the cooling fan motor has seized, it’s likely that the fuse has blown also. So if there’s no power to the fan and the motor is locked up, a fuse will more than likely need to be replaced at the time of the fan motor replacement.

Other Causes of Car AC Not to Cool at an Idle or a Stop

  1. The car could be overheating – caused by something else other than the cooling fan.
  2. Heat transfer from the radiator to the condenser can alter efficiency, if the car is overheating.
  3. The AC compressor may not be pumping sufficiently at slower RPM’s (revolutions per minute).
  4. An expansion valve may not be regulating the refrigerant correctly.
  5. Condenser fins could be bent or the condenser could be obstructed by foreign debris.

There are special condenser fin combs to straighten condenser fins. But in my experience, bent condenser fins are not that much of a common problem. A more common problem if you drive in the country, is pollen accumulated over time in between the fins. Trash from the road like a plastic bag or piece of paper obstructing part of the condenser reducing performance can happen anywhere. It’s funny to me that during my time as an auto technician, many customers came in concerned that the AC wasn’t cooling, but failed to notice that the car was overheating – even if the temperature gauge was pegged!

Japanese Paper Cutting Is Therapeutic

Japanese paper cutting is one of those creative arts that virtually anyone can enjoy. It can be as basic or intricate as the creator would like and it’s the type of craft that allows the imagination to run free. Known in Japan as “kirigami”, it’s quickly becoming a lost art in the East, while gaining popularity in the West.

With nothing more than a piece of paper and cutting tool, a kirigami artist can create any number of beautiful images and designs. An art that anyone can enjoy, from children through to adults, there are no limits to what can be made. Perhaps only the skill level would hinder work outcome or progress but that quickly improves with more practice, time and experimentation with cuts and tools.

Therapy for the Body and Mind

Japanese paper cutting is also an art that can be very therapeutic for both the body and the mind. Whether it’s done for fun or as an experiment to see how kirigami benefits the body, it’s certainly worth a try for almost anyone.

Just as many other forms of art like painting and music help people relax and recover from different ailments, kirigami also has a powerful effect on children, teens and adults.

Physical Benefits

Japanese paper cutting can use a variety of cutting tools with scissors and scalpels being the most popular. If someone would like to work on their fine motor skills, these tools are a wonderful choice. Even simple safety scissors work well for children, especially for preschool activities since this is the age fine motor skills need practice and refining.

For adults who require therapy, start off slow with one or two simple kirigami patterns like hearts, clouds or flowers and try to experiment with different kinds of cutting tools to see which ones feel the most comfortable to use.

For children, especially preschoolers, it’s quite simple to get them interested in kirigami since they generally love to cut various materials with safety scissors. To give them something even more fun, offer a variety of safety scissors that cut different patterns. They are easily found in craft stores for scrapbooking or in the children’s school/craft section.

Mental/Cognitive Benefits

Paper cutting offers an incredible chance to release any thoughts that may be clouding the mind and focus on different creations instead. Sometimes people like to cut out a symbol or image of the things that they love as a way to forget worries and work on the things that make them happy.

This paper craft can be done as quickly or as slowly as needed. No matter what the look or effect that’s desired, this art allows the freedom to work at any pace and versatile to any changes a creator makes along the way.

Once the work is complete, there are several ways to display the work at home, work or as a gift to others. Not only is this therapeutic but it’s also an affordable solution for decor and gift add-ons.

The Japanese art of paper cutting is one that everyone should try at least once in their life. Although it may not seem like a beneficial craft, it may turn out to be one of the best.

3 Tips for Gorgeous Mishloach Manos (Purim Gift Baskets)

Mishloach Manos Improvement #1 -Wrapping a package well makes all the difference in the world. You could give only 2 items and if they are wrapped well, your mishloach manos will be the favorite. Work on perfecting your wrapping style.

A friend of mine is exceptional in this way, and she gives only 2 items. Last year she gave a small bottle of liquor and chocolate gold coins. She put each in a box and then stuck a piece of double sided tape to stack the boxes on top of each other. She wrapped the boxes in cellophane and then tied them up with a brown plaid ribbon.

She also mentioned that the items inside of the packaging need to “sit well” in the package. For outstanding mishloach manos, do not merely throw in a potato chip bag with jellybeans in a box. Fill the box with tissue paper, lay your items on top of the tissue paper, and perhaps place another layer of tissue paper on top. Fit your items in tightly and neatly for the best look. You’ll find that your mishloach manos look a lot more appetizing when they are wrapped neatly inside and outside.

Here are suggestions for wrapping specific kinds of containers:

Bag – It is easy to dress up a paper or cellophane bag. Line the bag with tissue paper. You can also punch holes in the bag and tie a ribbon through it or something you’ve put on craft wire, like plastic grapes.

Bottle – Tie ribbons, raffia or twine around the neck of each bottle. Attach a gift tag or make a “necklace” for the bottle. Tie a spoon to the bottle with ribbon if your recipients would need one to eat your mishloach manos with.

Dish – Check discount stores and flea markets for unique plates, serving bowls, platters or tins. Put in your foods and wrap the dish with cellophane and a bow.

· Paint a Design on your Jar before filling it

· Wrap the entire Jar in Tulle or Fabric

· Attach a Tag using ribbons or Raffia

· Wrap the entire Jar with Colored Cellophane or Fabric

· Simply add a finish tag & Pretty Label

· Purchase odd shaped jars at dollar stores & fill them

· Attach small whisks, wooden spoons, mini garden trowel, jute, etc to spruce up your jar

· Decoupage photos to your jar, or pieces of tissue paper for a stained glass effect

· Attach a cookie cutter with some ribbons or raffia

· Use Baby food Jars for Dip mixes & Single serving “Mug” Mixes (when the ingredients to a recipe all all divvyed out and layered in a jar-like sand art)

· Create a natural feel to your jar by attaching dried flowers, leaves, or pine cones

· For a western theme, wrap bandana around jar & attach mini straw hat

Mishloach Manos Improvement #2

It is hard to stay in touch with all of our friends. Purim is one of those “catching up” times. People you have not seen in a while may come to your door because they’ve been thinking about you and are just too busy to call.

Give Mishloach Manos that provide a glimpse of what is going on in your life. Since you are going to give mishloach manos to your friends anyway, keep them updated on what is new through your actual basket.

Say your daughter just got engaged; you can include wedding themed items in your baskets with a poem.

Here is an example of something I did last year. I put a poem inside my Seder Plate themed Mishloach Manos. Here’s what it said:

At there is a course,

That tells you how to make Pesach from the source.

We’ve been working on it week by week,

And have yet to get to its peak.

When you get to the deep cleaning and cooking, don’t get nutty.

A Freilechin Purim from your Slatkin buddies!

I glued 5 paper muffin tins to a paper plate and filled each one with a goodie. The poem was to let my friends and family members know what I’ve been busy with.

Mishloach Manos Improvement #3

Do you build your mishloach manos off of your costume? Here are some examples:

Misloach Manos Container

Curious George and the Man with Yellow Hat Costume

Bananas and Grape Juice in cellophane

Doctor and Nurse

Cotton candy for cotton balls, a bottle of alcohol in a clear plastic case

School boy and girl

Alphabet cookies, candy erasers, yoyos in a small lunch box

Wine and Cheese

A cardboard circle with a small wheel of cheese, crackers, and a small bottle of alcohol with cellophane

If it’s a nice day, walk around the neighborhood to deliver your shaloch manot. Just put the shaloch Manot in a wagon if you have one. You can decorate the wagon in the “theme” of your costumes too.

If building your mishloach manos off of your costume is not a new idea to you, how about creating a “survival kit” themed Shaloch Manos.

How about the “Everyday Survival Kit”-

Toothpick: Pick the good qualities in everyone including yourself.Rubberband: Be flexible. Things might not always go the way you want.Band-Aid: To heal hurt feelings, either yours or someone else’s.Eraser: Everyone makes mistakes. That’s okay, we learn by our mistakes.Candy Kiss: Everyone needs a hug or a compliment everyday.Mint: You are worth a mint to your family and friends.Bubble Gum: Stick with it and you can accomplish anything.Pencil: List your blessings every day.Tea bag: Relax daily and go over your list of blessings

Or the Tax Survival Kit-

Taxes: If taxes have taken a BIG HUNK out of your PAY DAY, and you’re staring down a ROCKY ROAD with no hope of SWEET ESCAPES, here’s a little LIFESAVER to make you feel like you’ve gotten your MILKY WAY. Just sit back, SNICKERS, and grin because you have in your hands the only $100 GRAND the IRS can’t take away. Now isn’t that an ALMOND JOY? (475 Gift Basket Ideas)

(Remember that the Halacha requires 2 brachos be given in your mishloach manos. Consult with a rav if you have any questions.)

Keep it fun and get the kids involved. You can do anything with creativity and planning, even if you are on a budget!

Oil Painting With a Palette Knife

Impasto is a painting technique in which the artists preferred pigment, which is most often oil painting, is applied so thickly to the canvas that the brush strokes or palette tool marks are clearly visible to the viewer. Only a very small number of artists ever attempt to take this type of technique to the extreme of using only the palette knife, and not the paint brush, to apply their paints to the canvas. It is an even rarer few who master this type of expert technique. It can take an artist of even advanced expertise many years to become proficient using this technique in this way.

Palette knife painting can be accomplished using acrylic paint pigments but oil painting with this type of tool really takes the technique to the highest level. Because of the longer drying time associated with this style of painting the artist is able to go back into the piece and rework sections and add deepening layers of pigment and detail to the fine art piece. Oil painting using the palette knife offers a unique way to add in both varying textures and colorful layers of paint rich in pigment and color while still expressing a rare energy. Fine art painting, because of the freedom it offers the artist, creates dramatic works of art that recreate movement and light in a way that few other painting techniques can hope to match.

Utilizing the palette knife in this unique way when oil painting offers the artist a freedom few can achieve when using the more conventional painting techniques. It frees the hand, as well as the mind, opening the painter’s ability to express themselves and allowing them to tap directly into their subconscious. Using the technique in painting for the past forty years, since being a student at the world renowned Vitebsk Art School, and credits palette knife painting with making it possible for the artist to capture his personal optimism and positive life perspective in his fine art landscape paintings, flower paintings, cityscapes, and music paintings which are all available in worldwide art gallery settings, at art auction, and as limited edition art prints. He has become such a well known master of the palette knife oil painting technique that his work is instantly recognizable and never imitable. It is impossible to mistake an palette knife oil painting for anything else.

Objects That Are Blessed, Objects That Are Cursed – Do You Own Things That Are Harming You?

Has life been more difficult since you brought back that painting from the garage sale? Is your family bickering more since you inherited your aunt’s silverware? Are you having problems sleeping since placing that antique dresser in your bedroom? Is it harder to concentrate at your desk since bringing that souvenir from the Far East to your office? If you find yourself having unexplained moodiness, depression, inability to concentrate, anger or are having unusual thoughts come into your head that are not your own, you may own something that is triggering it.

Can objects really influence how a person feels or acts? Yes, it happens dozens of times a day in your life now – and discernment is needed to differentiate between an outside influence on an object, and what is simply your own emotion about it. What does this mean? It means we need to be careful about what we imply to an object, and what is actually emanating out from it by itself. For example, when you open a photo album and see a picture of your previous husband, you may feel betrayal or loss. That’s your own feelings and memories stimulated by the trigger of looking at the photo – there is nothing actually coming from the picture trying to influence you to think that way. However, you are now adding your own energy and emotion to the photo for future times that it is seen again. What?! Yes, without even knowing it we influence objects around us every day, with positive or negative overlays.

There are two different kinds of influences on objects – energy dustings and persuaded influences. Energy dustings are on everything, and we contribute to them every moment of our lives. We can choose to make these participations joyful, happy and peaceful, thus raising the light and love we feel in our surroundings. This is truly the meaning of making a house a home, and our neighborhood a beloved home town. Or, we can carry a storm cloud over our head and dust everything around us with that. Remember these dustings not only affect places, but people and animals too. Have you ever walked into a room where an argument has just occurred? The tension in the air may feel so thick you could cut it with a knife; you may also get a headache, or feel anxious. How strong a person may feel these dustings depends on their own sensitivities. Some people may have to stop and really focus to decipher what they are feeling, while others and small children are naturally built for receiving input, whether it feels good or bad.

Especially with our children it is beneficial to make sure their surroundings are as peaceful as possible. For example, it will definitely make a difference to mood and personality if your baby is trying to sleep in a previously-owned crib used by a child who was constantly screaming because of health problems or feeling the marital problems of his parents. Whenever possible, for yourself and your children, know the history behind an object before you bring it home. And remember that bringing items into your house in its natural state from the environment carries the energy dusting of the One who created it, which will always be wonderful. This means decorating your home with pinecones, natural plants, interesting stones or driftwood, using creek water over a rock fountain, playing recorded nature sounds from birds – all these created and unadulterated items are Divinely made and will greatly raise the positive energy in a room. Be imaginative and invent a few things of your own – perhaps under your desk place a tray of sea sand for your toes to dig in while you work, or use shells as soap dishes.

The history and energy dusting behind an item may also be wonderful – and that is an object to appreciate, enjoy and pass along. Perhaps it is a piece of grandmother’s jewelry that was a beloved token of appreciation given at her 70th birthday party, which made her smile with pride and happiness each time she put it on. Or a hand-carved game board that has seen excitement and family interaction for 40 years. Not all old things are bad, and not all new things are good. What? Can a person actually buy a new thing that carries problems? Yes, both old and new objects can have influences willfully attached to them.

A persuaded influence is placed on an object on purpose, by someone for a specific intention and outcome. It is not an energy dusting that occurs just because it is in proximity, it is much different. When an object is utilized as a trigger, it can be for good or for bad. For example, in the scriptures we see blessed objects that God allowed to be used for touchstones for healing and exorcisms. “God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.” (Acts 19:11,12) These objects received a blessing because the person who carried them was blessed, and the anointing carried through to objects to help people through the persuaded influence of God himself.

Today there are many things that carry God’s blessing with a permanent anointing on them, no matter when they brought into existence, even when they are made with imperfections through the simple hands of humankind. Some of these are crosses and crucifixes, and renderings of the Holy words. Other objects may carry a blessing on them because a person of faith asks God to place one there, through answered prayer. Also, a person may be blessed, such as when they choose to step up for priestly ordination, which carries a God-anointing that allows blessings to be done for more specific outcomes, such as creating anointing oil, Holy water, blessed wine and communion. There are many positive things any of us can do, because as children of God, we all have different gifts, and with each of those gifts come additional blessings, such as healing or the gift of miracles. But a hands-on ordination is a timeless gift of special blessing that God allows for both men and women, and he blesses the office not the imperfections of the one carrying it out. On our part, it shows our heart’s motivation to step forward in the work and expand. On God’s part it gives us a different arrangement with him and the Holy Angels. Basically when we receive this blessing we acquire more Angelic heavy-hitters to help us, and our ability to hear and be heard increases. This is necessary for most deliverances, all exorcisms, most hauntings, and many specific blessings such as land and air blessings and making sacred ground. Also, many times a person may have more darkness against them than they are aware of, or their faith is not strong enough on their own; and they need an ordained person to help to break generational bondage, curses, hexes, spells, incantations, negative prayers or evil intent sent against them.

Now, knowing this, realize that some people spend a lot of time and energy dedicating objects not for blessings, but for the opposite of that. In some cases, these people have sought out dark forces, and attach themselves to unHoly Angels through demonic rites and rituals. More have dedicated themselves and selected objects through customs and traditions where they unknowingly apply for connection to these fallen Angels, and for generation after generation the negative cycle may continue to influence a family, a company, a village or even an entire region. Beyond the local area, a person anywhere around the world may be manipulated since the Internet allows us to purchase anything from anywhere and bring it straight into our homes. These objects may be large, beautiful and expensive so that a person may be more inclined to keep them and take too lightly problems associated with them. Or they may be small and easy to carry and even considered a keepsake or “good luck” charm, or a common souvenir of the area. They may be family heirlooms passed from generation to generation, especially prized in places of poverty. Individual craftsmen or family companies may have performed an opening ceremony or offered a dedication upon every item created through them, and whether knowingly or unknowingly did it in such a way to offer the unHoly Angels free reign and connection over thousands of objects. Although it only takes once for an object to be cursed or willfully dedicated for the use of the unHoly Angels, the manipulation, heartache, illness and destruction from these unHoly objects can continue on for centuries, with future owners not knowing any prior history of the item at all, and meanwhile suffering from the effects.

It is not just third world countries or certain cultures that seek to benefit themselves by negatively influencing the products they make. Some objects are willfully manipulated by people in companies who are more interested in the bottom line than anything else. And while some do seek out unHoly ways to influence their product line, most are negative energy dustings designed to make an unhealthy or unnecessary product desirable to buy, and then to break shortly after purchase or the warranty has expired so that another item must be bought to replace it. While not as detrimental as persuaded influence, these energy dustings lower the happiness in a home and can cost thousands of dollars in replacement and repair bills.

If energy dustings happen from the strong emotions that people feel, how many things in our home have a dusting? Simply everything. If you are eating carrots, how many hands has that gone through? Let’s say the people in control of the carrot company have good motives, choose to grow organically, and try to have a good relationship with all its employees. But what about the receptionist who just lost her father, or the worker in the field who is suicidal, or the truck driver who is exhausted and angry, or the grocer who is frustrated, or the hundreds of people that pass though the vegetable aisle? All these are adding their dusting to the carrots that you are going to eat and feed to your family. Think of it this way – let’s say the carrot on its own like a glass of clear water, with nothing added to it, neither sweet nor sour. Because of the original beneficial desires of the company, sweetness is added to the water, a full three tablespoons of sugar is stirred in. But because of several negative emotions along the way, several drops of vinegar have also been added, and now what is served at your table is not as healthy or tasty as what it could be. And if the vinegar content is high enough, it could even make your body and spirit ill. We started our example with a good company, but many do not add any “sugar” at all. But our original company could have done better too – a priest could have been asked to come out and do a land blessing over the company and the fields. This would promote positive energy dustings and ask for God’s guidance and blessing on the produce, which in effect adds a perfect amount of sweetness to the water, and more importantly dissipates and nullifies any interference of vinegar added along the way.

And this is the key to removing any negative energy dusting to anything we own – blessing it. What happens when you enter a totally dark room and strike a match? Although the darkness is in volume thousands of times greater than the light, the darkness cannot put out the candle. And the more light we add, the more shadows flee from the light, because light and dark cannot be in the same place at the same time. All of us are sparks off the Divine flame – anyone can pray for a blessing, and choose to be a candle in the dark place. And the more we have chosen love over fear in our own lives and invited God in to illuminate our way, the brighter our faith and prayers are – and we become much more than a candle, but a brilliant chandelier reflecting light into every nook and crevice until darkness cannot survive anywhere.

Prayer changes things. When we pray a blessing over our food and water, it changes its qualities and any negative energy dusting on it disappears. Prayer is a gift that God gives to persuade a positive and Divine influence, and our energy expands beyond anything we could do on our own. In this way, our brilliant chandelier now reflects the rays of the magnificent sun. Ask a blessing over your medications, over any objects that you purchase or are given, over your car, over your animals, over people, over places and things you pass by – be a mobile instrument of transformation, a walking instrument of prayer. Funny thing about giving love, you receive it back even more so – including feeling more peace, contentment, confidence and joy!

How does a person ask for a blessing? Although there are specific prayers available for many things, most of the time those are only needed by priests when the deeper work is called for. What is in your heart? This is what God desires to hear; words that come from your soul, in your empathy, from your compassion, in your longing for things to be good, for light to expand, for love to win the war. And because of your free will desire to interact with God for the transformation to take place, you become an instrument in his hand for change. Even many negative persuaded influences (curses) can be broken this way by an un-ordained person of faith. If the prayer is done with respect for Jesus, no matter what religion you are your prayer has much more authority and power open to it.

At times it may be difficult to discern between a generational bondage passed down through family lines and effects from items that are owned which are cursed. Generational bondage is a problem that comes down through family lines and can be of any nature, physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. It is often attributed to genetics or family history, and is an attachment on the family members themselves and not what they own. This can start by a distant family member dabbling or involved in the black arts, or a curse placed upon them by someone who was. It can be recognized by a repetition of different things, for example; generation after generation of failed business ventures, or every man in the family having a stroke before turning 50, or mental depression passed from grandmother to mother to daughter. Although a person can say the specific prayer for breaking generational bondage for themselves, most of the time a priest is needed. There are also beautiful and powerful prayers called The Divine Decrees which are perfect words to help all of us align with Angelic guidance and protection, and are given to us just for this time of world shift. Many of these are specific for different blessings, and powerful transformations have been documented from reading them.

If the prayers have been said and instead of a cleansing the word comes back that it is best to destroy the object in question, or a feeling of uncleanness or confusion still permeates the item, then total destruction of the object must occur. Remember that the unHoly Angels are smart and can choose to lie dormant with an object for a long time, or turn off and on the problems emanating from it. It cannot be simply given away or thrown away. If it is of metal or other difficult to destroy material, it still has to be made unusable by anyone. If it is of wood or other malleable material, cut it up or burn it in a safe place. Then, no matter what it is, bury it in the ground. If you have access to Holy water, or can get it from a church, making the sign of the cross upon the ground after burial is a good idea. Blessed salt can be used for the same thing. Do not allow yourself to be doubtful, fearful or to put off destruction of the object after the item is recognized for what it is, for some are even used as objects for portals, and your troubles may multiply since the unHoly Angels now know they have been exposed and have limited time to cause harm. Sometimes odd things happen when destroying such an object, because the demons do not want to have their object harmed, and will try to cause fearful sounds or sights around the person who is destroying the object. If you do not feel you have strong enough faith to do what is required, giving the item to a priest or a person of great faith is the better choice. God simply wants to bless you, and have your family and surroundings a place of peace. He gifts people with different abilities to help him help one another, so do not feel that giving the object to another to destroy it is overall weakness – it is strength on your part to recognize it and to put into motion the end of it.

Today we live at a time of complete accessibility to items from all over the world. All of these objects are dusted by the high energy emotions of people they come into contact with. Some are contaminated by willful dedication to negative influences, and become items that wreck havoc to the lives and well being of their owners. Prayer cleanses and transforms most of these items into Godly touchstones of health, light and love. Discernment is needed to differentiate between an outside influence on an object, and what is simply a person’s own emotion about it. Discernment is also needed to identify and destroy objects that cannot be cleansed. A priest may be called upon for specific blessings that are required in some situations, while at other times a person of faith may be able to do many blessings themselves. We can choose to bless people, places and things through prayerful affection, and not pass on objects of affliction. All of us are in control of how our surroundings influence us and our family, and there are positive things we can do every day to make our house a blessed home of peace, joy and love.

Time Under Tension (TUT)

All bodybuilders know very well that the only reason any hypertrophy is achieved with progressive resistance is because of the time under tension (TUT). Sports science has now conclusively proved that the only reason a muscle is able to grow in size is because of the time spent under tension.

Unfortunately many people who start going to gym to gain muscle land up doing 3 to 4 sets of 6 to 10 reps without considering the actual time spent under tension. The average time it takes to do 10 reps on any movement is between 15 to 25 seconds.

When TUT can be increased the resulting growth in muscle can be seen, which has now been seen in many clinical studies. If you are simply able to increase the time it takes to perform a set of ten repetitions then you will increase the results that you get from your training.

In order to increase the time under tension that you put your muscles through when you are training there are a few fundamental requirements that should be taken seriously if you want to get the benefits of TUT.

The six points are listed below.

• The first is to always be aware of the reason why you are training a little bit slower than normal and that means making sure that you do not lock out. Whether you are doing bench-press or squats you need to make sure that the tension is always maintained and that you never relax by locking out your knees or your elbows which reduces the tension. You need to spend more time in the difficult portion of the lift and not the easy part of the lift.

• Tempo is important and you should stick to a 2/4/0 tempo which means that 2 seconds for the lifting (concentric), 4 seconds for the lowering (eccentric) and 0 seconds on the pause which means no rest or stop is done when training with TUT.

• Sports science tells us that we are 60% stronger on the eccentric (lowering) part of a lift and this is why the tempo puts more time on the eccentric part of the movement. Any eccentric lift will cause more muscle damage on any isolated muscle group which results is faster muscle building for size when the correct rest and nutrition are combined.

• When training with TUT you will reach a point of fatigue a lot quicker so you need to always concentrate on form/technique to always make sure that your form remains perfectly intact at all times. Cheating while doing TUT is counter productive and doing partial reps when trying to increase TUT is not going to improve results.

• When training with TUT and you have selected a weight that you cannot finish off the last few reps on a set you should do drop sets. This simply means that when you reach the point of failure in the middle of the set you can reduce the weight and continue. Whether this is done by selecting a lighter set of dumbbells or simple reducing the weight on a machine press or bench-press it will avoid you needing to start cheating your form.

• Sports science has proven to us that intensity is everything when it comes to getting results in muscle growth. If you simply lift the weight or do the movement until the buzzer goes it does not guarantee that you will get stronger. Making sure that you are always going to get the maximum results in muscle gain when training with time under tension means that you should always strive to increase intensity. This means a minimum requirement of 60% of 1RM when you are training like this. If you are training with time under tension (TUT) you should use no less than 60% of the maximum amount that you can lift for one repetition of that movement, then increased muscle gain is guaranteed.

The Top Ten Mermaid Movies Ever

Most people have seen Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” animated movie. But there are several others which are absolutely excellent – classics. Here they are:

1. My top pick for a mermaid movie is “Splash”. Not only is it funny and the plot wonderful, but there is quite a bit of awesome footage of Daryl Hannah mermaiding in the ocean. We can’t get enough of that! Keep in mind that this is not a children’s movie. It was made in the ’80s, and for the most part it is okay for the family to watch. But there is a little bit of nudity (when the mermaid is walking into New York out of the ocean with nothing but her long hair to cover her) and there is some implication of what she and the Tom Hanks character are doing in the elevator, though nothing is shown. The movie is wonderful, with a great story and awesome mermaid footage and lots of laughs, as well as a great romance.

2. My second top choice is “The Secret of Roan Inish”. This is a safe, quiet movie the entire family can enjoy. It was made in Ireland, and as such is slower and quieter than most American movies. It is about a little Irish girl who moves to live with her grandparents. While there she unwittingly stumbles upon the mystery surrounding the island the family used to live on, called “Roan Inish” (Island of the Seals). As she slowly solves the mystery, she brings healing and unity back to the family. In this movie the mythical creature is a selkie, not a mermaid. The selkie lives in the form of a seal. On occasion she climbs up on a rock and removes her seal skin, revealing a beautiful woman. So this movie is a little bit different, and you will never look at a seal the same way again.

3. My third favorite mermaid movie is “Aquamarine.” This one is geared to the teen crowd. It has nothing unseemly, so the whole family can enjoy it. It’s a delightfully different rendition of the classic Little Mermaid story, with a wonderful surprise ending. The mermaid in this movie is different, more like a regular teen girl. There are several good shots of her in the water. The messages in this movie are high quality, such as loyalty, friendship, personal confidence, selflessness and courage. And it is also very funny.

4. Number four of my top mermaid movies is an old black and white classic called “Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid.” You will have a challenge finding this movie to watch, but VHS versions are available for sale on All of the underwater footage was filmed in the famous Weeki Wachee Springs in Weeki Wachee, Florida, only a year after this underwater theater opened. Made in 1948, this movie is about a married couple taking a vacation in the Caribbean. The man is almost 50 and is having a mid-life crisis. While on vacation he accidentally fishes up a live mermaid from the sea! Ann Blyth plays the enchanting mermaid and you will love this wonderful film. The only objections a parent might have is the theme of extramarital flirting, and some funny scenes with a guy trying to give up smoking.

5. One that is a little different, and which only recently came out, is a Japanese anime Miyazaki movie called “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea”, or simply “Ponyo”. In this one the fish-girl is depicted as a goldfish with a human face, which is rather strange. But in an unusual twist, this five-year-old fish-girl has to get the little five-year-old human boy to love her faithfully, or she will turn into sea foam and be no more. It is such a sweet interpretation, these small children learning to love and trust each other in such an innocent way. It is a tale of wonder and courage and should not be missed.

6. My pick for number six is Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”. It was the movie that got Disney back into the popular movie business again in the 1980s. The music and story are a delight. I remember how enchanted I was when it first came out – it is a delightful mermaid movie, fun for the whole family.

7. Number seven for me is the Russian adaptation of “The Little Mermaid.” This 1976 film shows plenty of wonderful mermaid footage under the sea. Back then the swimmers had only small flippers, so they had to ripple their legs in a very quick motion for movement. The underwater scenes are only in the beginning of the movie, but they are marvelous!! (I can’t figure out how those swimmers could be in the water with all those jellyfish!!). You can find this movie to rent at Netflix and it is directed by Vladimir Bychkov. Again, this version of Anderson’s famous story is a little different, almost a completely new story. Be forewarned that there is nudity in one scene, and portrayals of a witch performing magic. Other than those the whole family will enjoy this one.

8. “Barbie Mermaidia” is a little-kid movie, but the plot is good and the scenes are beautiful. I especially enjoyed the unusual design of Barbie’s mermaid tail. In this story the main character has to make great sacrifice, and learns some good lessons. I like this one better than the newest Barbie mermaid movie because of its great message.

9. There was much excitement this year over the new release of “Barbie in a Mermaid Tail.” This one has wonderfully fun surfboarding scenes. The mermaid world of Oceana was a little strange – basically a mimic of our materialistic society. This made it funny but in this setting you lose the mystery and magic of legendary mermaids. This is what I call a “fluff” movie – nothing deep, just fun images and a nice little story.

10. My least favorite mermaid movie is a kid movie called “Roxy Hunter and the Myth of the Mermaid.” It’s about a young small-town journalist named Roxy who gradually discovers her new homeless friend (a beautiful blond) is actually a mermaid. The movie is okay but throughout the entire film there are no underwater scenes or scenes with a mermaid in a tail – none – until after the very end. Then, finally, you see about 10 seconds of the blond mermaid swimming underwater with a gorgeous tail. The story is interesting enough, however, and children will certainly enjoy this movie.

Seduction for Sex – Tactics of Tactile Hypnosis

The word tactile obviously means touching and physical contact is a pivotal element of a successful seduction. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) also uses plenty of touching for both setting and for triggering anchors. And of course, the science of hypnosis includes a full branch of knowledge that is dedicated towards people who are kinesthetically oriented. Touch is more than just important to seduction – it is vital. But then the whole purpose of a seduction for sex is to get to the intensely physical act of sex and at that point, words past or present are no consequence. My point here is that even a deaf, mute and blind seducer can seduce effectively if he understands tactile seduction.

Let’s think of a seduction as a baseball game. The batter’s overall objective is to slide into a nice warm home plate and score his run. However, to achieve that goal, he must step on the three bases.

First Base – Mutual flirtatious touching. You caress her hand as it rests on a table. She touches and strokes your forearm as she tells a joke. Your arm is around her and you give a squeeze. She leans against you.

Second Base – Kissing, hugging and holding hands.

Third Base – Is petting, clothed foreplay, undressing down to the undergarments. Your seduction is well underway here.

Home Plate – Is naturally the culmination of your seduction for sex. Sometimes you will hit a home rune and make the easy jog in from third but other times you’ll have to steal each base. But one thing is certain – before you EVER get to home plate, you have to touch first and touch is the operative word. Even if you get to base on balls, you’re still on base and you’ve touched to escalate your seduction from verbal and visual – to tactile and finally to sex.

But here is where players fail. They can’t make it to first safely. Anyone can make physical contact. But stepping on her toe or touching in a non-strategic or non-productive way doesn’t send you on to second base – those just get you called ‘out’ and sent back to the dugout.

So let’s return to the title of this article. Let’s discuss seduction for sex and tactics of tactile hypnosis. More specifically, let’s talk about how knowledge of tactile hypnosis can put you into effective touch with the girls you want to seduce. Yes, you have to get onto first base but from there you also wish to round second on the way to third. Tactile hypnosis is touching at the appropriate time and in the optimum way to advance you to the next base. Then tactile hypnosis is kinesthetic ploys that take a runner around third and into the home stretch.

I get a chuckle out of watching some of the ‘amazing’ fast talking street-corner seducer’s videos on YouTube. They show the initial contact and that is it because actually – that initial touch is all they get. Go ahead and strive to be like that. Copy those seducing methods and soon your little black book will be stuffed full of intentional wrong numbers and the names of girls who are too busy ironing their underwear to go out with you.

I’m reminded of the martial arts legend of the kung fu touch of death. Purportedly, just one finger could kill if applied correctly. I don’t know if that is true but I do know this. Touch is all it takes to knock a girl off her feet and onto your bed.

Nadru Monje – Fritters of Lotus Stem In Kashmiri Style

Muskaan Shah, my best friend and sister, invited me to her place to help her mother in cooking. Why? Her brother Masroor Bhaiji was arriving from Srinagar with his family. She wanted me to meet them and interact with his family. I was busy in the kitchen, standing next to Mummyji (Muskaan’s mother) and completing various jobs like chopping vegetable for salads, grinding various spices, cleaning coriander leaves, etc.

At 4 o’clock sharp, the bell rang and I could see small kids running from the front door to the bed room and were excited to meet Muskaan. She introduced me to the entire family. After sometime, she called me again and handed over a bag. She said that the contents of the bag were called NADRU MONJE – her favourite snack. It was prepared by her sister-in-law. I started munching them and instantly mesmerised by the taste of it. They were the long strips and very crispy by texture.

Next moment I asked them to give me the recipe. She asked me to enjoy the dish and forget about the recipe. However, as the years passed by, I learnt the recipe. There are three different versions of the recipe. I would be sharing all three of them in this article.

Nadru Monje In Rice Flour

  • Add kashmiri red chilli powder into the rice flour.
  • Add salt into it.
  • Add asafoetida into it.
  • Mix them well with fingers.
  • Add water into the flour.
  • Blend all of them together in a smooth batter.
  • Take the precaution for not adding more water to the batter. The batter should be of thick consistency.
  • Take a large wok and place it on the gas stove.
  • Add oil into it and turn on the gas stove.
  • Remove the lotus stem strips from water.
  • Remove the excess water from the lotus stems
  • Add them to the batter.
  • Dip the strips properly into the batter.
  • Check if the oil has reached to its maximum temperature.
  • Place each dipped strip of lotus stem into oil.
  • Turn them to the other side once it is fried well.
  • Keep tossing the strips continuously in order to avoid them from charring in the oil.
  • Once the strips are well fried in the oil, remove them and place them on a tissue paper. This helps in the removal of the excess oil present in the fritters.
  • Serve them immediately with mint chutney or tomato sauce.

This is genuine and authentic recipe of nadru monje. I was surprised to know that this dish is prepared in a lavish manner and distributed to all the devotees and tourists visiting Hazrat Bal Mosque in Srinagar, Kashmir. Later on, I came to know that Sufi saints favoured the snack in the valley. Even now the snack is in great demand at this place. It is one of the starters in the Islamic Kashmiri Cuisine. The above mentioned recipe is relished by all kashmiri individuals.

  • Fry them well in oil.
  • Remove them from oil and place them on a tissue paper.
  • Serve them with tomato sauce.

Yet there are others who would like to add one or two eggs in the rice flour to prepare the fritters. This gives an entirely different taste to the fritters. No matter what version one would like to adopt for its preparation, the snack is ready to be enjoyed by one and all in the family.

I like the first version of this snack. I came to know that the snack helps for individuals suffering from low blood pressure. It helps in the removal of the mood swings. It is best for the person in depression. I simply like the snack and prepare it whenever I desire for it and share it with all my folks back at home.
