Summary Of The Inglesina Classica Pram

Simply stated, the Inglesina Classica Pram is by no means a modern day stroller with all the modern features and amenities. It is refined, symbolic and old fashioned. It’s quite plush and constructed using only the finest materials available.

Modernizing the Inglesina Classica would completely destroy its image. However when you compare its features to those of a more modern stroller, there are some drawbacks.

The Classica is built more for luxury than convenience. It is heavy and not really high tech. It does not fold up easily, which makes it difficult to transport. It will break down and fit in your car’s trunk, but it takes about twice as long to do this than with a lighter more modern stroller.

It does not have wheels that pivot, so turning and maneuverability is not the best. You will find yourself lifting the rear wheels often to turn or lift the carriage up over a curb or step. It offers a rough ride over bumpy terrain, but it moves smoothly when walking on level ground and pavement. Better suspension and thicker seat padding would help smooth out the Classica’s ride.

However, if you are looking for graceful and elegant stroller that will turn heads, consider the Inglesina Classica.

Bridge Conventions for Beginners: Stayman and Blackwood

Stayman is a convention used after partner opens the bidding with one no-trump (1NT). Its purpose is to locate a 4-4 fit in hearts or spades. A response of two clubs is Stayman, asking “Partner, do you have four hearts or four spades?” To use Stayman, responder must hold at least one four-card major suit (hearts and/or spades), and 7 high card points or more (the equivalent of an ace and a king).

The purpose of Stayman is to use hearts or spades as trumps, if the hands will play better than in a no-trump contract.

If partner does not have four hearts or four spades, he should rebid two diamonds. With a four-card heart suit, he should rebid two hearts. And with four spades, he should rebid two spades. Note that with 4-4 in both major suits, partner should bid two hearts. After hearing partner’s bid, responder can bid naturally.

Stayman can also be used after an opening bid of two no-trumps (2NT). A three clubs response is then Stayman.

The Stayman convention was popularized by Sam Stayman, a wealthy businessman and bridge expert in the mid-20th century.

Blackwood is a convention for bidding slam contracts. It is used when a trump suit has been agreed and a player thinks that a small slam or grand slam is possible. A bid of four no-trumps (4NT) asks partner how many aces he holds.

Partner should bid five clubs with 0 or 4 aces; five diamonds with 1 ace; five hearts with 2 aces; and five spades with 3 aces. A five no-trumps follow-up bid asks partner how many kings he holds. Partner should bid six clubs with 0 or 4 kings; six diamonds with 1 king; six hearts with 2 kings; and six spades with 3 kings. The five no-trumps bid should only be used if there is a possibility of a grand slam.

After hearing partner’s responses, the Blackwood bidder’s subsequent bids are natural.

There are certain times when 4NT is not Blackwood. The most common example is when partner opens the bidding with one, two or three no-trumps. In those cases, then a 4NT response invites opener to bid a slam slam (6NT) with maximum strength.

Blackwood has a reputation for being an abused convention; it should only be used when there are no other good bids available for probing for slam.

Blackwood is named for Easley Blackwood, a bridge expert and contemporary of Sam Stayman.

Getting VA Disability Compensation As a Drilling Reservist-Your Responsibilities

You’re a drilling reservist that has a VA compensation packet in the system. You’re waiting on the VA to give you a decision. While you’re waiting, some questions come to your mind. Will I get over 30%? How much over 30% will I get? Once I receive my compensation or pension, do I have to give up my reserve pay? Or, will I tell the VA that I could do without the VA compensation for the days the reserves pay me?

Finally, you get your VA packet in the mail. The VA’s decision has arrived. You’re getting a monthly compensation. Now you’re one of the reservists that receives both, VA disability compensation and reserve pay.

But, if you do nothing else, you’re going to get your full VA compensation, and your reserve paycheck. The longer you wait for the VA to find out about your reserve pay, the more money you’ll have to pay the VA back in the future.

You have to send your intentions to the VA at the end of each fiscal year.

At the end of each fiscal year, you’re going to complete a VA Form 21-8951-2. This is the “Notice of Waiver of VA Compensation or Pension to Receive Military Pay and Allowances,” form. This form is a declaration form, where you declare which pay you’re going to forfeit for the days you received training pay.

You could get this form from the VA, or you could search for it on the Internet and download it. Once you have the form, completely fill it out.

It’ll ask for your VA regional office address. This is the address that you’re going to send your form to. Put your VA regional office address in the “VA Regional Office” box.

Next, it’ll ask for the name and address of the veteran. Put your name and home address in this box.

The form will ask you for the following: VA file number, social security number, daytime phone number, and evening phone number. You’ll find your VA file number on the packet that the VA sends you — announcing your disability rate or compensation.

Next, you’re going to see a box for fiscal year and another box for training days. A fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 30. List the fiscal year that you did your training days under the fiscal year box. Under the training days, type in the number of days the reserves pays you for.

How do you know what days you got paid for?

Many reserve units list numbers, on their training schedules, right next to each scheduled weekend drill (Battle Assembly). Many reserve units list “4” right next to a two day training weekend. A three day training weekend will have a “6” right next to it. These units typically pay you for two training days in one day.

Let’s say you’re getting paid two training days for each drill day that you complete. Check with your unit, and find out how many training days you’re getting paid for each drill day in order to get an accurate number.

Your drill days are also known as inactive duty training periods, or IDT. You also have active duty periods; you get paid one training day for each day of active duty that you do. In the reserves, you have Active Training (AT), Active Duty for Training (ADT), and mobilization days.

Total your IDT points (2 per training day) and your AT points (1 per training day), that you did during the fiscal year. Place the total number of training days in the “training days” box.

Next, you’re going to let the VA know which of your pays you’re going to waive.

The first option allows you to waive your VA benefits for the days that you received training pay. The second option allows you to waive your military pay and allowances for the days that you received training pay. The third option allows you to inform the VA if you didn’t receive any military training during the last fiscal year.

Here’s how each option works.

Let’s say you chose to waive your VA benefits for the days you received training. Remember, each IDT day counts as two days of training. If all you did, for the month, was 2 IDT days, then the VA will take back a prorated amount of VA for that month.

Simply divide your monthly VA compensation rate by 30 days, then multiply it by the number of days you received training pay. Depending on your rank, and the amount of your disability compensation, your prorated amount could be lesser than your training pay.

In most cases, waiving your VA benefits for the days you received training pay results in keeping more of your money after the deductions are made.

Now, let’s say that you choose to waive your military pay and allowances for the days that you received training pay. This amount is usually bigger, per day, than a prorated amount of VA pay. After all the deductions are made to recoup that money, you’re going to end up with less money.

So, do your math, and compare what your daily prorated VA compensation is compared to the training pay you receive. In most cases, you’ll keep more of your money if you chose to waive your VA benefits for the days you received training pay.

The third option is for those in the Individual Ready Reserves (IRR), Standby Reserves drilling for retirement points, or other reservists drilling for retirement points only. You simply inform the VA that you didn’t get paid that fiscal year. This is the easiest option, as it doesn’t require recouping pay for that fiscal year.

After you complete that section, sign and date the form in the applicable sections. Go to the bottom of the form, and fill in your unit’s name and mailing address. Type/write in the unit telephone number section. You should have access to your online records, which should list the number of training days that you have. Print this out to help aid your unit administrator.

Take this form to your unit, and have the unit administrator verify and sign it. After you get it signed, make copies and mail a completed form to your regional office. This is something you’ll have to do, after each fiscal year, every year you receive VA compensation while in the reserves.

Here’s a couple of helpful tips.

Contact your regional VA office, and ask them if they’ll take this form early, despite your not having your decision yet. If they say yes, send your form in at the end of each fiscal year. Coordinate with them when you do this. This way, what you owe can be taken out of your lump sum initial payment should you get a favorable decision.

Contact your regional VA office, or your reserve unit administrator, for questions and details related to this article. The procedures on the form that you use take precedence over this article if there’s a difference in information.

How To Properly Make a European Skull Mount With Your Deer

So you’ve just bagged a big 8 point buck and you’re wondering how to have it mounted? Wonder no further because European skull mounts are getting more popular every season. They’re cheaper and arguably better looking than traditional shoulder mounts. Plus, you can even buy the materials to make it yourself for relatively cheap.

Now that you have your deer, use a skill saw and make a clean cut right behind the top of the deer’s head. If you don’t have time to clean the skull then simply place the head in a trash bag and keep it in a freezer until later.

Once you’re ready to get started, get a tall boiling pot and place the deer head inside. Make sure the boiling pot is tall enough where the deer’s nose isn’t touching the bottom. Now fill the pot with water until it’s covering everything but the horns. It’s not good to boil the horns but it won’t hurt if the water is touching a little. Now heat the water to a slow boil. You don’t want a rapid boil because this may cause damage to the skull and possibly cause teeth to fall out. You’ll have to let the skull boil for many hours before it’s fully clean. It’s good practice to check on it every 1.5-3 hours so you can scrape off any big chunks of meat and refill the lost water due to evaporation.

When you’ve removed everything you can by boiling, take the skull out and use a water hose with a wire brush to remove any remaining meat. When nothing but the skull and horns remain, use 40 or 50 volume peroxide to whiten it up. You can buy the peroxide any most beauty salons. When I went in to buy mine, the lady saw my camouflage and asked if I was there for peroxide so you may not even have to ask where it is.

Now put on some latex gloves and grab an old toothbrush. Be careful because this stuff will burn a bit if it comes into contact with your skin. Coat the skull with the peroxide then let it set for a few minutes. Rinse it off and repeat until it’s your desired color of white.

When your skull is done and cleaned, drill a 3/8″ hole in your mounting board and in the very back of the deer skull. Place the toggle bolt through the back of the mounting board and through the back of the deer skull. Make sure the bolt comes unlatched inside the skull and then tighten the screw until everything is secure. Now you’re done!

If you follow these directions, you should have a beautiful European skull mount to display in your living room, office or man cave. They’re a great way to show off your kill and you will have the satisfaction of telling others that you did it yourself. Happy hunting!

Gutters and Repairing Or Replacing Gutter Nails – Gutters Sagging Or Falling Off? Some Simple Repair

Cleaning and maintaining rain gutters may be one of the most ignored tasks for home owners. We will only drag out the ladder when the gutters are overflowing; water leaking into the basement or there are so many maple seedlings growing our houses look like a Chia Pet. You don’t need me to remind you that cleaning the gutters twice a year is a must. The spring cleaning, after the seeds and helicopters come down, is the most important. Many seeds float and quickly make their way to the downspout where it will become clogged in no time. In the fall the weather can change fast and the cold and wet is miserable and dangerous for ladder climbing. I have been in the gutter repair and maintenance business for more than five years and I can tell you late spring cleaning is critical to yearly gutter maintenance.

But you’re saying that you clean the gutters twice yearly and the dang things are still hanging off the house with water pooling far away from the downspout giving mosquitoes a perfect breeding pond for their eggs. What is happening is the nails are pulling out of the house and need to be hammered back in. This is a simple and effective way to extend the working life of your gutters indefinitely. The next time you’re at the hardware store get a hammer belt hook. This small thick leather devise with a heavy wire loop and slots for your belt is a safe way to carry a claw hammer up and down the ladder. As you move along cleaning the gutter, hammer the nails back in but do not crush the gutter. You should be able to reach three nails but be careful to never reach out to far. A good rule of thumb is to always keep your shoulders within the width of the ladder.

A few solid hits should tighten the nail but what if the nail remains loose? A properly installed nail must penetrate the end of the truss, rafter or ceiling joist. The fascia, nailed to the ends of the trusses, is less than an inch thick and ¼ inch gutter nails will split the plank then the nail will come loose if done incorrectly. Finding the truss ends is nearly impossible if the fascia has been covered with aluminum or vinyl siding because you can’t see the nails used to fix the fascia in place and trying to measure for the truss ends, even if you’re 1/16 of an inch off, by the third truss you’ll be missing the solid wood necessary to hold the nail.

So you have a gutter that has been ignored for years and you can’t tighten the gutter nail. I have cleaned and repaired thousands and thousands of feet of gutters and the hidden hanger with an integral self-drilling screw is the answer. You can get these hangers at the big-box home store but a better bet is to go to a siding and gutter supply house. It is worth the trip as you’ll be amazed at the selection and variety of gutter products and tools. This type of hidden hanger uses a ¼ inch hex-head drive and easily is screwed through the back of the gutter and into the fascia. The screw is at an angle to increase holding power and because it drills its own hole, it is far superior to nails. The smaller diameter self-drilling screw will not split the plank and if you don’t hit the truss end will still hold for many years. The problem with the hidden hanger is you’ll need clearance to hook it under the upper outside edge of the gutter and then swing it over to clip over the edge of the back of the gutter. If the roof overhang is too great you can’t make the swing without prying up the shingles. If the gutter is hanging away from the roof edge put the hangers in place along the offending length, then push up the gutter as best you can, then drive the screws in. Leave the old nails in place to fill the holes.

Another product is gutter screws that replace the gutter nail. These work well if the old nail was in the truss but pulled out anyway. The screws come with a tube to fit inside the gutter and are slightly larger in diameter. The screw is also longer to bite into solid wood. The preferred screw will have a square drive which is supplied in the box. To install a gutter screw you’ll have to first pull out the old nail with a pair of locking pliers like Vice-Grips. Then simply drive the screw into the old hole, through the tube and into the wood.

Remember to be careful on ladders and wear over-the-ankle lace-up boots. You’ll also need a good battery powered drill/driver, hammer with a belt hook and locking pliers. Keeping those nails tight will extend the life and usefulness of your gutters for years.

Disadvantages of Painting in Extreme Heat and Cold

If you have been planning to apply fresh paint to your home in the coming months, this is for you, particularly if the temperatures in your region tend to be extreme. Painters across the country recommend that outdoor painting be kept to more temperate months instead of during very cold or very warm months.

Need for Optimum Temperature

When the ambient temperature is too high or too low, paint is not able dry properly leaving uneven and ugly patches on the walls. Basically Oil and Latex paints are the two commonly used paints for both interior and exterior painting needs. Most well known paint companies produce quality oil and latex paints for domestic and industrial application. Humidity and outside temperature play a vital role in deciding the drying time and the curing time. Extreme hot and cold conditions have a direct bearing on the curing time. Generally painters apply coats based on the instructions provided on the paint container. Usually these instructions are provided by the paint company based on the optimum temperature conditions.

Curing Time

These are two important parameters that determine the overall finish of the paint. Drying time usually ranges from an hour to three hours for oil and Latex based paints. Curing time is much longer than the drying time and ranges from 20 days to 30 days for different varieties of paints. The liquids in the paint must be completely evaporated for the curing to be completed. This evaporation happen when a dry skin is formed on the painting surface. Formation of the dry skin indicates that that all the liquid content in the paint has completely evaporated. In order to give the ideal drying time for the paints to do another coat, the recommended outside temperature is around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Thus when the temperatures cross the 100 degrees mark in summer, the paint doesn’t get the required optimum temperature and humidity level to dry properly. Similarly, when the temperature falls below the 50 degree mark in winter, it would have a significant effect on both the drying time and curing time of the paint.

Multiple Coats

When painting is performed during extreme summer and winter months, even an experienced painter would find optimum times of the day to complete the work. The time between coats may require a longer period to allow the initial coat to dry. If you are considering having a painter come paint your home during temperature extremes, be sure to have a long discussion with your painter so that you fully understand the pros and cons of this choice.

Are There Any Benefits in Using Floor Lamps?

There is no doubt that proper lighting in a room is very important, regardless of whether the room is used for sleeping, relaxation, work, or pursuing favorite hobbies. No matter what the task, activity or purpose, good lighting design can add to the functionality of a room, as well as to the overall design and decor by creating and enhancing moods with light. Floor lamps have a great advantage over many other types of fixtures and lamps because they are portable.

With many types of lighting fixtures, such as recessed lights, chandeliers, wall lamps, and sconces, the lighting is permanently in place once the fixture has been installed. Even in the case of track lighting, which is so popular because it is permanent lighting that is still adjustable, there are still limitations. In addition, there is the additional cost and hassle involved in properly installing these modern fixtures, which often requires the expertise of an electrician or at the very least a handy and experienced do-it-yourselfer.

One of the great things about floor lamps is that they can easily be moved to different areas of a room and can augment the lighting exactly where it is needed the most. With a floor one, a dark corner can be brightened quickly without worrying about having the right furniture to set it on, such as you would need if using table ones to boost the lighting.

Many times, people will use both table lamps in conjunction with matching floor lamps to provide complete coverage for a room. The table ones can provide more focused light for reading and conversation, while the floor lamp fixtures often provide more of the ambient light. There are many manufacturers of light fixtures these days that make sets of lamps that include one or two table ones and a floor lamp in a coordinating style.

One thing that should be kept first and foremost in mind when choosing to include a floor lamp is safety. There was a time, not all that long ago, when this type of lamp was actually considered to be rather dangerous because they had a tendency to tip over easily. However, during the course of the last ten years or so, the lighting design manufacturers have been successful at improving the designs of these popular types of lamps.

These days, all floor lamps sold in the US must meet the requirements set out the UL for “tip-ability” standards. This UL certification shows that the floor one has a base that is heavy enough to minimize the potential for the lamp to fall over accidentally. This in turn reduces the chance of damage to the lamp due to a fall and injury to people nearby, as well as electrical shocks or fires that can result from a hot floor lamp being tipped over.

When the time comes to go shopping for floor lamps to enhance the lighting design in any room in your home, from living room, to den, to bedroom, you will encounter a vast array of styles and designs from which to choose. With such a wide selection available, it should not be difficult to find a floor lamp that will fit right into any room and improve the lighting for the area.

A Street Car Named Desire

Thomas Lanier Williams, known as Tennessee Williams, the author of A Street Car Named Desire presents the contradiction and paradox that real human life might offer. It is a stage play with elements of tragedy and pathos that was published and staged in 1947. The theme of the story presents conflicts with which the central character, Blanche Dubois has to live. The theme is not dramatic or out of life as most of us live in our delusory world that may be far off the reality. While most of us cope up with our delusions and distinguish between real and fantasy, the others like Blanche Dubois turn a victim of overpowering delusion. And she knows it: “Blanche explains to Mitch that she fibs because she refuses to accept the hand fate has dealt her. Lying to herself and to others allows her to make life appear as it should be rather than as it is”.

The plot of the story is wonderfully crafted that goes on to highlight a number of emotional traits that are tested during the time of human tragedy. Most human beings are weak for their inescapable need to cry over the shoulder of some one close. At times this dependence takes severe form as in Stella’s dependence on Stanley for love and support; Mitch, otherwise a sober character, is also not without the need of companionship that he finds in Blanche, after the death of his mother. Blanche is also in need of support. Whether the support is offered by Stanley or not is an issue that needs analysis. Money matters, as it does for Blanche, while Stanley, a hard core down to earth worker proud in his masculinity must ensure he is not being cheated by Blanche. The drama depicts that while life moves on from past to present, the lingering past just cannot be done away with whether Stella tries to move on after leaving Belle Reve, or Blanche tries to find a man in her life after her husband commits suicide, or Stanley is apologetic about his rough actions. The past keeps haunting them in present. Death is shocking, and it is especially so if it involves some one close and near. It might often entail a sudden shift in one’s outlook and personality. Blanche’s husband’s death has a profound impact on her, even as those of the others in Dubois family. Mitch confronts the death of his only love as well as his dying mother who ultimately dies.

There are several other characteristic themes that merge in the single plot. One such theme is the loss of a world that meant status and class, and consequent downward spiral into the life of a blue collar ghetto. The impact of this social theme translates into loneliness, insecurity, and having to bear cruelty. Stella and Blanche the two sisters originally belong to a world that no longer exists for them. Their family’s ancestral plantation, Belle Reve, is lost. Their world is also lost along with it. The two sisters are the only living symbols of the old world. In the second scene, Blanche makes a comment about Stanley to Stella that says it all: “Oh, I guess he’s just not the type that goes for jasmine perfume, but maybe he’s what we need to mix with our blood now that we’ve lost Belle Reve”.

They are left with two options: either face reality and come to terms with, or live in a make believe world of fantasy to which Blanche succumbs; Stella comes to terms with reality. The real world now is the harsh world of hardship, of cruelty, of blue collar culture and living symbolized by Stanley. Stanley represents raw masculinity that intrigues and repulses at the same time. He and his world are quite in contrast to the aristocratic world of Blanche Dubois of which she is no longer a heiress but persists with her illusions even as they stay together which allows the readers to contrast what might be the symbols of real and illusion.

Let us see the paradox in Blanche’s life: Blanche’s illusory world offers her comfort as it is in fact her primary means of self-defense. Her deceptions do not spring from any malicious intents, rather they are an extreme reflections of her frailty to cope up with the misery of real life. She appears extremely reluctant to face the truth head-on. “For her, fantasy has a liberating magic that protects her from the tragedies she has had to endure. Unfortunately, this defense is frail and will be shattered by Stanley”.

Blanche makes a dramatic entry into the scene looking for her sister’s house. She looks in disbelief at the apartment building as she checks the address. She appears to pity Stella, her sister having to live in such a rundown building. Blache, about 30, elegant and attractive, a little haggard and weak is in her white suit with pearl earrings and white gloves. She appears lost and out of place in the ghetto populated by blue collar workers. Blanche tells Eunice when he asked her whether she is lost, “They told me to take a street-car named Desire, and then transfer to one called Cemeteries and ride six blocks and get off at-Elysian Fields”.

From here on the cocoon of unreality that Blanche lives in to protect herself against her weaknesses including her inability to repress her sexual desires become apparent. She refuses to acknowledge and lies about her promiscuous behavior in Laurel. “She shuns bright light, lest it reveal her physical imperfections; and she refuses to acknowledge her problem with alcohol. Stanley effectively penetrates her cocoon verbally with his crude insults and physically with his sexual coup de main near the end of the play”. As against Blanche, Stanley is rude, coarse, and domineering ruled by primal instincts. Her opinion of him might be seen as what she says about Stanley in course of conversation with Stella: “He acts like an animal, has an animal’s habits. Eats like one, moves like one, talks like one!” He is a man who calls a spade, a bloody shovel. His manners are uncouth and lingo, working class. He is hell bent on destroying every fabric of fa├žade that is a protective armor of Blanche Dubois.

That’s what reality does to illusion. It recklessly tears asunder the envelope of falsehood. However, we do see Blanche not totally deceptive with herself. She does realize that they have no option but to mix their superior blood with working class, as she pities the fate of Stella’s child who will enjoy none of the privileges she and her sister did. Nonetheless, Blanche simply fails to come to terms of reality. It is in fact this failure that results in severe consequences for her. A time comes towards the end of the drama when she loses her mental proportions completely.

Types of Diggers and Their Uses

Diggers are familiar sights to see on building sites all over the UK and are integral to all types of construction. There are many different types of digger; in this article we will look at a selection of commonly-used vehicles.

An excavator is a type of digger that has one arm at the front which consists of a boom and a stick, and there is a bucket right at the end. The cab sits on top of a revolving platform and there are wheels or tracks beneath for movement.

These types of diggers are used for a range of projects such as landscaping, digging, demolition and grading. They can range in size quite considerably, with large examples of excavators often being utilised by the mining industry and small examples of these diggers are used where space is at a premium or access is restricted. Some can even squeeze through doorways.

Backhoe Loader

This type of digger was invented in 1953 in the UK by JC Bamford, founder of J.C. Bamford Excavators Limited. It is commonly known by the JCB initials and is basically a tractor body with an attached front bucket and backhoe.

This vehicle is both compact and versatile, with the front bucket being used for loading and the backhoe for digging. A big plus point for these diggers is that they can be driven along roads as well as on site, making transfer between jobs at different sites relatively straightforward and inexpensive when compared with a digger that must be loaded onto another vehicle or even dismantled before transportation can take place.

The backhoe loader can gain extra stability while digging by having its hydraulic stabilisers and front scoop lowered, allowing the vehicle to exert considerable force and dig quickly.

The bulldozer actually developed from the farm tractor and was in common usage in America by the 1920s. These diggers are generally used for construction as well as mining and road building.

Bulldozers have huge steel blades which are front-mounted and these are pushed along by the tractor body which is mounted on top of caterpillar tracks. They have different blades for completing different tasks and can be fitted with rear ripper attachments to break through hard surfaces. These vehicles are able to navigate very rough terrain with ease as they have very wide tracks, a bit like a military tank.

Loadalls are also known as telescopic handlers and were first introduced by JCB in 1978. These diggers are commonly used in both agriculture and construction and are compact and versatile. They feature pivoting, extendable arms or booms with a forklift attachments. Shovel, bale lift and grapple attachments can also be used.

This list is a brief over view of the types of digger that may be found on a building site and is by no means exhaustive; there are many varieties in common usage today.

Popular Cosmetic Procedures – Face Lift, Brow Lift, Neck Left and Eyelid Surgery

For those considering cosmetic surgery to the face or neck, a variety of procedures exist to reduce the signs of aging and restore a more youthful look to the target area. Four of such procedures include a face, brow, neck and eyelid lift surgery.

Because the results of each procedure can vary greatly, it’s important for a person to educate themselves on exactly what each procedure does and how it affects the final look of the face.

This article will discuss the aforementioned procedures while indicating what type of person would be best suited to undergo such changes to the face or neck area. As always, a person should seek the advice of a licensed cosmetic surgeon for a truly accurate opinion of what procedure is best for them:

* Brow Lift: A brow lift (also known as a forehead lift) works to correct the sagging of the eyebrows which can cause a person to look mad, sad or aged beyond their years. To accomplish this goal, a cosmetic surgeon will remove the muscles in the forehead responsible for the drooping, sagging and creation of scowl lines above and in-between the eye brows to create a tighter, brighter and more youthful appearance to the face.

This procedure is generally appropriate for individuals between 40-60 years of age (or slightly younger for people in stressful occupations or experiencing early signs of aging), and for those that have significant lines or drooping around the brow area.

* Eyelid Surgery: Eyelid surgery (also known as blepharoplasty) seeks to restore a youthful appearance to the eyes by removing excess skin, fat and tissue from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery is appropriate only for those suffering from bagginess or puffiness of the upper or lower eyelids.

It is not appropriate for those looking to correct crows feet, dark circles or sagging closer to the brows, as this particular procedure will not address those issues.

* Face Lift: This is a popular cosmetic procedure to lift and tone the skin and muscles in the face. It helps to dramatically reduce signs of aging, as sagging and wrinkles are tightened up and smoothed out in the forehead, around the eyes and in the jowl area. To accomplish this goal, a cosmetic surgeon will actually create small incisions in front of the ear, behind the ear and possibly into the scalp.

Through various tightening methods, the deeper layers of the face and possibly the neck are then lifted to create a natural, yet refreshed and youthful look. A full face lift is generally appropriate for those 40 and up, as younger patients can still get away with the less invasive ‘mini face lift’ for similar results.

* Neck Lift: A neck lift can be performed on its own or in conjunction with a face lift as listed above. This procedure is typically sought out by patients that complain of a “turkey gobble under the chin” or a wide appearance to the neck and chin caused by excess fat. In this procedure, extra fat, skin and muscles are removed to create a thinner and tighter appearance to the neck.

It can also be performed in conjunction with Botox injections or liposuction, to create a more dramatic and sculpted look. This procedure is appropriate for people between 35 and 60 years of age or those with issues of sagging and budging due to weight gain.

Funny Questions To Ask A Girl

Funny questions to ask a girl are a great way to break the ice when you first approach her. More importantly, the right kinds of funny questions to ask a girl can lead directly to getting her interested in you, getting her phone number, or even getting a date.

Besides being funny though, you should also direct your questions to be interactive. If the questions are only funny to you, you won’t get anywhere no matter how funny you think the questions are yourself. Make sure she’s laughing along with you. When she’s laughing, it’s much easier for her to open up to you and be comfortable with you.

The trouble when thinking about funny questions to ask a girl is that most guys tend to get really nervous and freeze up. But remember, she is just as nervous as you are. Whatever the case, both of you are trying to make a good first impression. The most important part for you is to just take action.

Here are 5 funny questions to ask a girl that are both interactive and action oriented:

1. Would you rather…?

Follow this up with two options that are absolutely wild, crazy or ridiculous. Good examples are: “Would you rather slurp a gallon of ketchup or a gallon of mustard?”

“Would you rather be addicted to donuts or addicted to drugs?”

“Would you rather be trapped in an elevator full of three fat men with bad breath or three dogs soaked in mud?”

2. Do you think Tony the Tiger is sexy?

She will think this question is funny due to sheer shock. Most likely, she will respond by saying “What?” Then, you can provide a back story along the lines of “Well, you see, the other day I was babysitting my 6 year old niece when she pointed to the TV during a Frosted Flakes commercial and said “sexy tiger.” I don’t know where she got that from and I’m wondering if it’s just a girl thing.

3. What work starts with “f” and ends with “u-c-k?”

Answer: firetruck

She will most likely say the “f” word after which you can tease her for being really vulgar or saying “Wow, I know what’s on your mind.”

4. What is something that all men have, some men have it long and some men have it short, the pope doesn’t use it, and when a man gets married his wife gets it?

Answer: last name

If she has a dirty mind, she will most likely say “penis” or “dick.” This is another funny question you can use to tease her for being perverted.

5. Can I stand here or is this area of the floor taken?

This is a play on the question “Can I sit here or is this seat taken?” Funny questions to ask a girl like this are very simple and intended just to get your foot in the door. After you ask this question, immediately follow up with something else to talk about or the conversation will go stale.

As you can see, funny questions to ask a girl are not extremely difficult to come up with. All you need to do is use some imagination and the possibilities are endless. Even asking her a question that slightly makes fun of her can work if said with confidence and a charming smile.

The real test of funny questions to ask a girl though, is how she reacts to them. Don’t continue the question if you feel like she’s not having it. Remember, she must be laughing along with you. If you find her laughing along with you, you’re good to go for getting her phone number and even getting a date.

Caring For Your Car’s Clutch

Have you ever wondered exactly what happens when you push down the clutch pedal? Without the clutch you would not be able to disengage the power of the engine or change gears! So how does it all work? A clutch is used to connect two moving shafts that are moving at different speeds. This allows us to disengage engine power without stalling the car or to be able to drive off smoothly allowing the engine’s power to transmit to the road gradually.

What is the clutch made up of? There are several major components starting with the flywheel which is connected to the engine, followed by the clutch plate which is connected to the transmission. Next is the pressure plate which holds the friction between the clutch plate and the flywheel. This part of the clutch takes an incredible amount of force & pressure. Next are the studs & the diaphragm spring. As the middle of the diaphragm spring is pushed in, a series of pins near the outside of the spring causes it to pull the pressure plate away from the clutch disc. This releases the clutch from the spinning engine. The next component is the throw-out bearing which is also known as a ‘clutch bearing’. It aids the smoothness of the transition and noise reduction. Next you have the clutch housing and release fork. The release fork’s job is to put force onto the pressure plate causing the pressure plate fingers to release. The bell housing contains all of the clutch components. The final part of the jigsaw puzzle is the gear box.

How can you look after your clutch? Don’t ride your clutch. We are all guilty of sitting in traffic jams or waiting for the lights to change, by holding the car steady on the clutch rather than the brakes. This can take years of life from the clutch! Intense heat builds of within the clutch and this can lead to the clutch burning out. Simply by holding the car on the foot brake or handbrake will dramatically reduce clutch wear. When you have fully released the clutch move your foot off the pedal as having the clutch slightly depressed will also increase wear to the clutch.

What are the signs of clutch wear? A slipping clutch can mean a new clutch is required. A simple way to see if your clutch is slipping is to find a reasonable hill or incline. Get your vehicle to a reasonable speed around 30-45 should be fine then select a high gear 4th or 5th and push the accelerator to the floor (if it is safe and legal to do so). If the vehicle’s rev counter suddenly raises with no equal sign of acceleration this can be a sign of clutch wear. Some vehicles do have the facility to adjust the clutch cable which can extend the life of the clutch.

Another sign of clutch wear is clutch judder. You would feel this feedback through the clutch pedal. If you feel a judder or thump during the gear change this may be an indication. This is generally felt at slower speeds or changing gear in the lower gears. The usual cause of this is that the clutch plate has moved slightly and become misaligned. This can also happen if the clutch plate or other parts have been renewed and not aligned correctly. The worst outcome from this would be that the flywheel has become damaged, and if this is the case specialist advice will be required, as the flywheel would generally mean the clutch assembly would also require changing!

Yet another sign of clutch wear is any unusual noises. Most noises on older cars are only to be expected; you would expect to hear some creaks and groans and whines after a few years. A bit like the wife (only joking)!! One noise that would be cause for concern would be if the whining noise also had a crunching sound within it. If you hear this type of sound then it is definitely worth getting your car repaired as soon as possible. This could be a sign of the clutch bearing beginning to wear. This component would need to be replaced as soon as possible. If it were left it would cause further damage and would cost a lot more money to rectify.

What else has a clutch? Well some people with automatic cars maybe surprised to find out that automatic cars also have clutches and some even have two? Lots of power tools are equipped with clutches as well. Drills are usually fitted with clutches so the user can disengage the drive faster. This allows the user to have far more control of the equipment. As you can imagine the safety benefits make the clutch a necessity. The strangest thing that I have come across that requires a clutch is a Yo Yo!

If You Decide to Buy an Electric Kettle

The first electrical kettle was invented in 1891 by the Carpenter Electric Company. It boiled water in about 12 minutes. In 1922, the Swan Company improved on the Carpenter Electric Company’s design by having the heating element, a metal rod, inside the kettle. This helped the kettle heat water faster.

Today, an electric kettle can boil water in as little as five minutes. Most modern tea kettles are also cordless, meaning the pot sits on a base and it’s the base that’s plugged into the wall socket, not the kettle itself. This makes the cordless electric kettle as convenient as a stove top kettle.

You can use electric tea kettles to boil water for tea, instant coffee or instant hot cereal. They trump stove top kettles when it comes to portability. If you want to sit in your living room and enjoy a cup or two of tea, you can take the electric kettle into the living room with you and enjoy as many cups of tea as you like with the amount of water available in the kettle. The fast boiling time allows you more time to enjoy your morning drink or breakfast.

Electric tea kettles come in a variety of colors and styles. They are often made of stainless steel, glass or plastic. People who worry about the toxins in plastic often prefer the glass or stainless steel varieties because no plastic ever comes in contact with the boiling water. Another drawback to plastic tea kettles is that they sometimes make the water taste like plastic. Some electric kettles look like their stove top cousins, some look like old fashioned coffee percolators and some have very modern, streamlined designs. People who have hard water have the option to buy electric tea kettles with water filters inside for an even better tasting cup of tea or instant coffee.

The only real drawback to using an electric kettle is the fact that it’s electric. If you have a gas stove in your home, then when the power goes out, you can simply boil water on the stove. But if you don’t have a gas stove or a backup generator and your power goes out, you will have a hard time boiling water.

If you decide to buy an electric kettle to save yourself some time, make sure you read reviews of the brands you like best. After all, you want the best quality kettle your money can buy.

A Chef’s View On The Pros and Cons Of Stainless Steel Cookware

Stainless steel is often considered the best of the best when it comes to cookware. Used in households all over the world and by professional chefs, as well, there are quite a few reasons why stainless steel cookware is a good choice. There are a few cons, as well, but these are generally overshadowed by the advantages.

The advantages of stainless steel cookware include:

* Durability. Stainless steel tends to be very tough. This type of cookware does not chip, rust or even stain, at least easily. Stainless is also dent and scratch resistant. It is practically impossible to destroy. This makes it very easy to clean, generally. This cookware is generally dishwasher safe, can handle going into the refrigerator and more.

* Flavor preservation. This type of cookware tends to not leach off any of its metallic properties into food. This means the cookware itself doe not impact flavor quality. Also, since it tends to not have a protective, non-stick coating, there is no risk of this material coming off in food.

* Heat transfer ability. When higher quality stainless steel cookware is brought into play, an aluminum or copper base is used to improve heat transfer. This ensures an even cooking of foods. When the cookware is well made, the cooking properties can be nearly impossible to beat or match.

* Appearance. Stainless steel is pretty and it’s easy to maintain that look. The mirrored finish needs only a gentle rubbing or wiping to bring back into pristine condition.

* Recyclable. Stainless steel is completely recyclable. If a pan does manage to get destroyed, it can be salvaged by another means. This makes stainless favored by those who are concerned about waste.

The disadvantages of stainless include:

* Poor heat transfer. Unless a bonded aluminum or copper base is used, the heat conductivity is very poor. This means cheaper stainless might not be superior to other products out there.

* Pricing. The better stainless steel is, the more expensive it tends to be. On the upside, a very good set of stainless cookware can last a life time. Many people consider this to be a one-time purchase that’s worth the investment.

* Scrubbing. Although stainless is generally pretty easy to clean, stuck on foods can make coated pans look a little more attractive. However, the little elbow grease is deemed worthwhile by many for the overall durability of these pots and pans.

When stainless steel cookware is chosen, there are some cleaning tips that can come into play. In general, stainless should be washed after use to avoid any potential, no matter how small, for staining. Basic sink or dishwasher cleaning will work. To make sure the finish stays beautiful, use a regular metal cleaner on the outside of the pan. Stuck on food will generally come off with a little elbow grease. Soap and steel wool generally do the trick.

Stainless steel cookware is a great all around purchase. It’s favored by home cooks and professional chefs all over the world for its durability, beauty and food taste preserving qualities. Although the best cookware might be more expensive than other options, many feel the expense is well worth it.
