How to Patch a Leaky Shipping Container Roof

In an earlier article we looked at elastomeric roof coatings like Kool Seal to perform some preventative maintenance and to seal small pin holes on shipping container roofs. In addition, the light color roof coatings also reduce the heat island effect and the heat buildup on the inside of your container often caused by a darker painted or rusted container roof. With its main purpose being to keep the elements out, shipping container roofs are the weak link in the whole structure. Shipping container walls are constructed from heavy-duty 14 gauge weathering steel and the posts are fabricated from 7 gauge tube steel but the roof of shipping containers is constructed with 16 to 18 gauge die-stamp corrugated steel sheets. These roofs have very limited load bearing capacity, any loading on containers is meant to be distributed to the ground (or boat deck) by the four corner posts, not the roof.

Often shipping containers may get a dented roof due to handling while being loaded or unloaded from cargo ships. Should the containers roof get a dent in it where water can puddle it should be repaired before it rusts through. If you do find that you have water entering the container, the best fix is to remove the damaged portion of the roof and weld in a new steel roof panel section, however in some situations this is easier said than done. If the if the proper tools and equipment are not available then you need an alternate but permanent repair.

In the modular building industry we have had a great deal of success using a product called EternaBond to permanently seal the roof seams between building sections. EternaBond works on both metal and EPDM surfaces and it is used over and over again to join the roof seams on rented modular buildings. Modular buildings are delivered, set up, and used in sometimes caustic environments like chemical plants for several years. When the rental is over the roof seam is cut, the building modules pulled apart then sent to a new site where another slightly wider layer of EternaBond tape is installed right over the top of the old tape seam because the preceding layer is to difficult and time-consuming to remove. As the roofs aged and deteriorated with several layers of abandoned seam material a new EternaBond tape layer rarely failed us.

EternaBond is a rubber tape product with adhesive on one side. To install it you clean the surface, brush a primer product on the surface, apply an adhesive to the surface then press on the EternaBoond tape. You will immediately have a long-lasting water tight roof patch. For added protection you can apply an EtrnaBond chalk to the edges of the patch. EternaBond is available in 50′ rolls starting at 2″ wide going up to 48″ wide so you can find an EternaBond product for almost any container roof patching need, both emergency and permanent.

Poetry – Two Poems By Turgut Uyar – "Mostly, It’s Yours" and "It Hurts"

Mostly, It’s Yours

by Turgut Uyar

Tell me to whom now it belongs this apple that I peel with care

You know that all I do with care now belongs to you

A man on his way to the water let’s say should he tilt his shoulder

The sun, the water and the tilt of his shoulder all belong to you

You stand up, you befit your name, and you’re right

The world that darkens as you know frequently belongs to you

The darkening world is an ember of fire for a new rose

The noble darkness left over from a fire’s ember belongs to you

You took a past with experiments, you came and painted the new well

I know it you should know it too the first illumination belongs to you

The water that I love is the real brother of your water

The powers abandoned by your water now belong to you

Because you hold like a weapon everything that you hold

The whistle that holds everything like a warning belongs to you

It’s all yours O eternal-giver whatever exists like life

Don’t hold your breath, expand, the core and the shell belong to you

O the most beautiful view of a waterfall pouring over the flowers

My love, my infinity, whatever exists and does not exist in this world all belong to you.

It Hurts

by Turgut Uyar

I want to talk about unhappiness

Vertical and horizontal unhappiness

The perfect unhappiness of humankind

My love hurts

We’ve lived something full of mystery

And they lived that over there

Mistaking the way a mountain was bent

For its joy.

First of all, the unhappiness of course

Like a bar in a small town

The way its laughter would hit the sunshine

But would not be reflected over here

That is, the syphilis that someone’s got from a fading rose

The tuberculosis that someone else got from another woman

The history of all office buildings

My love hurts.

“I pity my love” says someone

Even a child with a beautiful eye

Did not have a summer that protected.

I have no idea what should be said.

My love hurts

The ships are still passing by

The mountains will light up and darken again

And that’s all.

My stance is to find a lot of things and jump with joy

Fall has arrived O sorrow

Spring has arrived O black sorrow

O you, the smartest person on earth

Sometimes in the midst of summer in broad daylight

My love hurts

No matter whom I love

Or no matter who loves me.

September has packed up its bags and left you see

October etcetera will also be gone before long

Darn big horses that sink into history

Just sink into history, that’s all.

Pros and Cons of Each Type of Outdoor Motion Sensor Light

Outdoor motion sensor lights are a wonderful invention. They have made home safety and security much easier and user friendly for the home owner. There are three different types of outdoor motion sensor lights available electrical, battery operated and solar. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages when it comes to use and installation which will be detailed further in the paragraphs below.

The easiest type to work with and install is the battery operated and for the most part is also the least expensive. There are dozens of different brands with each brand having several different models. Most run off one of the common sizes of small batteries like AA, C and D. And just about all of them have LED bulbs because of the low amount of energy needed to power them. Now just because these are very basic lights doesn’t mean that there aren’t some really nice battery power motion lights because there is! The biggest disadvantage of using them is the amount of light they give off. Most are only good for lighting small areas like next to your front door so you can see to put the key in. As far as installation goes if you can use a screwdriver you can install these lights.

Solar motion sensor lights are the next easiest style to deal with. The biggest issue with these types of lights is that you must locate your light somewhere that you can place the solar panel in direct sun for an extended period of time. Fortunately the manufactures kept this in mind when designing the lights because most come with long cords, usually ten feet or more, to connect the solar panel to the light. Typically solar motion lights give off much more light than a battery powered light so they have much bigger range of uses. The bigger models can even be alternatives for hard wired security lights. Installation for these lights is about the same as the battery operated normally there are a few screws that mount to a bracket so no special skills are needed.

Last but not least is the standard hard wired motion sensor light. These lights come in a wide range of sizes and models as well and depending on what model you buy there are many features available including but not limited to an adjustable shutoff, manual on/off and built in daylight sensors. There are many advantages to using this style of light like having a much brighter light than battery or solar powered lights and never needing to change a battery or move a solar panel. But there are disadvantages too, like having to have a power source and needing to know something about wiring or hiring an electrician to install which cost money.

In the end it is up to you to choose what type of outdoor motion sensor light to use. Just keep these three things in mind and you should be fine; where do you need lighting, how much lighting will be enough, and do you plan to install the light or hire someone to do it.

The 7 Barriers To Great Communications

Many people think that communicating is easy. It is after all something we’ve done all our lives. There is some truth in this simplistic view. Communicating is straightforward. What makes it complex, difficult, and frustrating are the barriers we put in the way. Here are the 7 top barriers.

1. Physical Barriers. Physical barriers in the workplace include:

* marked out territories, empires and fiefdoms into which strangers are not allowed

* closed office doors, barrier screens, separate areas for people of different status

* large working areas or working in one unit that is physically separate from others.

Research shows that one of the most important factors in building cohesive teams is proximity. As long as people still have a personal space that they can call their own, nearness to others aids communication because it helps us get to know one another.

2. Perceptual Barriers. The problem with communicating with others is that we all see the world differently. If we didn’t, we would have no need to communicate: something like extrasensory perception would take its place. The following anecdote is a reminder of how our thoughts, assumptions and perceptions shape our own realities.

A traveller was walking down a road when he met a man from the next town.

“Excuse me,” he said. “I am hoping to stay in the next town tonight. Can you tell me what the townspeople are like?”

“Well,” said the townsman, “how did you find the people in the last town you visited?”

“Oh, they were an irascible bunch. Kept to themselves. Took me for a fool. Over-charged me for what I got. Gave me very poor service.”

“Well, then,” said the townsman, “you’ll find them pretty much the same here.”

3. Emotional Barriers. One of the chief barriers to open and free communications is the emotional barrier. It is comprised mainly of fear, mistrust and suspicion. The roots of our emotional mistrust of others lie in our childhood and infancy when we were taught to be careful what we said to others. “Mind your P’s and Q’s”; “Don’t speak until you’re spoken to”; “Children should be seen and not heard”. As a result many people hold back from communicating their thoughts and feelings to others. They feel vulnerable. While some caution may be wise in certain relationships, excessive fear of what others might think of us can stunt our development as effective communicators and our ability to form meaningful relationships.

4. Cultural Barriers. When we join a group and wish to remain in it, sooner or later we need to adopt the behaviour patterns of the group. These are the behaviours that the group accept as signs of belonging. The group rewards such behaviour through acts of recognition, approval and inclusion. In groups which are happy to accept you, and where you are happy to conform, there is a mutuality of interest and a high level of win-win contact. Where, however, there are barriers to your membership of a group, a high level of game-playing replaces good communication.

5. Language Barriers. Language that describes what we want to say in our terms may present barriers to others who are not familiar with our expressions, buzz-words and jargon. When we couch our communication in such language, it is a way of excluding others. In a global market place the greatest compliment we can pay another person is to talk in their language.

One of the more chilling memories of the Cold War was the threat by the Soviet leader Nikita Khruschev saying to the Americans at the United Nations: “We will bury you!” This was taken to mean a threat of nuclear annihilation. However, a more accurate reading of Khruschev’s words would have been: “We will overtake you!” meaning economic superiority. It was not just the language, but the fear and suspicion that the West had of the Soviet Union that led to the more alarmist and sinister interpretation.

6. Gender Barriers. There are distinct differences between the speech patterns in a man and those in a woman. A woman speaks between 22,000 and 25,000 words a day whereas a man speaks between 7,000 and 10,000. In childhood, girls speak earlier than boys and at the age of three, have a vocabulary twice that of boys.

The reason for this lies in the wiring of a man’s and woman’s brains. When a man talks, his speech is located in the left side of the brain but in no specific area. When a woman talks, the speech is located in both hemispheres and in two specific locations.

This means that a man talks in a linear, logical and compartmentalised way, features of left-brain thinking; whereas a woman talks more freely mixing logic and emotion, features of both sides of the brain. It also explains why women talk for much longer than men each day.

7. Interpersonal Barriers. There are six levels at which people can distance themselves from one another:

1. withdrawal. Withdrawal is an absence of interpersonal contact. It is both refusal to be in touch and time alone.

2. rituals. Rituals are meaningless, repetitive routines devoid of real contact.

3. pastimes. Pastimes fill up time with others in social but superficial activities.

4. working. Working activities are those tasks which follow the rules and procedures of contact but no more.

5. games. Games are subtle, manipulative interactions which are about winning and losing. They include “rackets” and “stamps”.

6. closeness. Closeness is the aim of interpersonal contact where there is a high level of honesty and acceptance of yourself and others.

Working on improving your communications is a broad-brush activity. You have to change your thoughts, your feelings, and your physical connections. That way you can break down the barriers that get in your way and start building relationships that really work.

What Is an Adult Coloring Book?

At the time of writing this article (August 2015), a quarter of Amazon’s top twenty best-selling books are coloring in books. So what is an adult coloring book, and how is it that they are currently outselling top fiction authors with new releases such as E.L. James and Paula Hawkins?

Adult coloring books are, very simply, coloring in books for grown ups. Like children’s coloring books, they are full of outline illustrations designed to be filled in with colored pencils, markers, crayons, or whatever other media you wish to use.

What’s in an adult coloring in book?

The main difference between adults’ and kids’ color books is that the grown up versions generally feature less juvenile images and designs. Instead of superheroes, barnyard animals, and television characters, adult coloring in books are more often filled with:

  • elements of the natural world, such as trees, flowers, leaves, gardens, animals and insects;
  • geometric designs;
  • psychedelic patterns;
  • repetitive ‘wallpaper’ type patterns;
  • cities and buildings;
  • anatomical drawings;
  • goddesses, angels, and mermaids;
  • mandalas; and
  • celtic designs.

There are also many ‘theme’ specific books available, featuring diverse subjects such as cars, steampunk designs, and Art Nouveau patterns.

Why are they so popular?

A Scottish illustrator named Johanna Basford published a coloring book called Secret Garden in 2013, featuring pages of beautifully hand-illustrated ink drawings. The New York Times reported in March that a Korean pop star named Kim Ki-bum posted a photograph on Instagram of a ‘delicately colored-in floral pattern’ from Secret Garden. At the time, Ki-bum had a massive 1.8 million Instagram followers. The post went viral and helped to ignite the craze.

The growth in popularity of the books reportedly has much to do with adult relaxation and stress release. Many adults who use the books report that they find the repetitive, low-stress nature of coloring in to be soothing, relaxing, and a way of de-stressing away from the pressures of life and work.

Among the other benefits of adult coloring in books, they also claim to enjoy recapturing the nostalgia of childhood by engaging in an activity usually reserved for children. It takes people back to a simpler time, and can also be a way for parents to connect and bond with their children by sitting down to color in with them. Of course, many parents have been happily coloring in kids’ books for years, but now they have choices that are not limited to Dora the Explorer or SpongeBob SquarePants.

In summary, coloring for adults appears to be a growing past-time that allows adults to relax and unplug from the stress in their lives, by engaging in a hands-on activity that involves minimal commitment and maximum nostalgia.

Common Flooring Question – Should I Resurface or Refinish My Hardwood Floors

A question that Voyageur Flooring often hears from homeowners is “should I refinish or resurface my hardwood floors”? The difference between those two services is quite considerable. The differences are centered around what’s actually done to the hardwood floor and the cost associated with the service.

To refinish hardwood floors, Voyageur Flooring, actually sands your floor with a heavy sand paper and removes the top layer of finish and wood. The purpose of this is to remove all deep knicks, scrapes, scratches, stains, etc. This process is applied to hardwood floors that have significant wear and tear. Often times hardwood floors have been neglected and as a result a hardwood floor refinishing is the only option.

Voyageur Flooring works with a lot of younger home owners who’ve purchased older homes that had carpet when they purchased the home, but now desire to tear the carpet up because hardwood floors have been found underneath. This is a great time to refinish hardwood floors. Other floors have minor scratches and imperfections that are not as deep. These imperfections can often be cured by a resurfacing.

To resurface a hardwood floor, Voyageur Flooring buffs the existing finish and applies a new coat of finish. Voyageur Flooring uses a water based finish which offers better protection than an oil based finish. You should request a water based finish from your local hardwood flooring professional. The difference in price between a refinish and a resurface is about 2.00 per foot. Hardwood Floor resurfacing doesn’t not include a sanding but rather a buffing.

The D’Orsay Pump High Heel Is Revered to This Day, Even If the Creator Has Largely Been Forgotten

Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo are only a few of the famous contemporary shoe designers who owe much of their success to an early 19th century gentleman revered at the time for his style, manners and worldliness. Alfred Guillaume Gabriel, the Count d’Orsay was a nobleman and eclectic artist who married into the British aristocracy. He became a touchstone for manners, taste, understated luxury in the English royal court and high society.

Count d’Orsay won fame throughout France, Britain and the Rhone Valley as an painter, sculptor, diarist and wit. He was considered the “most perfect gentleman of his day”. Cynics spoke of men such as Beau Brummel and the Count as “dandies”. The term “dossy, commonly in use during the first half of the 19th century, was considered to be derived from his name and meant a man who was an “arbiter elegantarium.”

The privileged class at that time was very interested in all things related to fashion and vanity. Shoes and footwear were of particular interest. Since Catherine de Medici, in 16th century Italy, wore two inch heels to negate her diminutive height, the pursuit of shoes with ever-more exaggerated heels had become a passion. By the time of the reign of the famous French Sun King, Louis XIV, regal women were teetering on high soled and heeled shoes so ridiculously elevated that they required a type of ski pole to keep themselves upright.

The Count d’Orsay had been a soldier in early life, and a courageous one. Uniforms and military dress were of great import to him. He was not happy with the military parade footwear of his day. He designed a military shoe for men in 1838. The profile of the shoe was quite different from pump footwear of the day, fitting more snuggly, and featuring low cut sides and a V-shaped top. The silhouette became so popular that it was soon adopted by women. The d”Orsay pump high heel shoe was thus born.

“The d’Orsay pump leaves the sexiest part of the foot, the curved instep, naked. The curve of the instep resembles the curves of a woman’s body, and it is normally not exposed, but hidden from view “, said Christian Louboutin, in describing the modern influence and popularity of the d’Orsay high heeled style of pump shoe. Modern materials, technology and design have co-mingled to make women’s shoes ever more exotic and dynamic. The d’Orsay styles sold today are reflective of the advances in engineering that the pioneering styles created by the Count d’Orsay have evolved to.

The origins of the d’Orsay designed shoe has been largely forgotten. Most women that wear the d’Orsay don’t even know the proper historic name for the shoe. However, the design is one of the most popular today, worn and favored by stylish women everywhere.

The Count d’Orsay inadvertently created an enduring fashion style for women by endeavoring to create footwear for men. Modern haute couture designers have taken his military directed shoes and leapfrogged the styling to runway shows, department stores and boutiques where they are mated with ever more feminine fashion creations. This is a classic instance of a product or design evolving from its market of original intent to an ultimately more successful usage.

Building Lean Muscle Mass – How Much Muscle Mass Can You Really Build?

The average amateur weight lifter expects to build tons of lean muscle mass in a very short period of time. That is to say that the average weight lifter expects to get ripped in a flash. Getting a ripped physique fast is largely a myth. You can not realistically build dozens of pounds of lean muscle mass really fast. The vast majority of my clients and men I encounter at the gym simply have unrealistic expectations when it comes to building muscle.

It’s difficult to actually say how much muscle you can add to your body but the average weight lifter seems to believe that they can add 25 pounds of muscle in 90 days. It’s remarkable how often I meet someone who has been hitting the gym for three or four months and is disappointed that they haven’t added twenty or more pounds of muscle. You surely can gain 20 or more pounds of body weight in just a few months but there is a big difference between body weight and muscle.

You can gain weight by simply taking in lots of carbs, calories, and weight gainer and doing little aerobic exercise. But again, in following this kind of diet plan you will only be adding body mass not lean muscle and there is a big difference between the two. Adding lean muscle mass means adding pure muscle tissue, not water weight or glycogen weight. And adding lean muscle mass takes the three P’s: persistence, perseverance, and patience.

Under the ideal circumstances, the average male can add a maximum of 2 pounds of lean muscle mass in a single month. Remember that this is under the best possible conditions, more than likely you will be fortunate if you can add half this much muscle mass each and every week. This may be discouraging or upsetting to some but it’s important to be realistic in your goal otherwise you could end up wasting your time or worse, doing things that may actually be harmful.

Train hard, eat right, get a good nights sleep each night, and you will inevitably get the body of your dreams!

Secrets of Skateboarding – Learn How to Tre Flip on a Skateboard

There are many different secrets of skateboarding and some are as simple as learning some special techniques to complete specific tricks. This article will explain how to tre flip on a skateboard or you can also call it how to do a 360 flip on a skateboard because it is the exact same thing. Let’s get started!

The secrets of skateboarding will show you how to tre flip on a skateboard in just a few steps.

Step 1 – You should know how to do a Kickflip. This will make it a lot easier to learn how to do a 360 flip on a skateboard because it is similar in some ways.
Step 2 – Put your front foot just in the same stance as you would to do a Kickflip. Ensure your front foot is about 2 inches away from the front trucks.
Step 3 – Put the front of your back foot on the tail of the board. Tilt your back foot up a little bit to give it a bit of a better spin.
Step 4 – Pop and spin at the exact same time. Then make sure to kick out your front foot just like you would in a kick flip.
Step 5 – Scoop the board. By this I mean get a little bit underneath of the board and flick it with your foot.
Step 6 – Wait for the board to come back around to proper stance and then land it safely. Make sure you still have your knees bent, this will allow you to land easier and with less pressure on your legs.

The secrets of skateboarding aren’t secrets after you learn how to tre flip on a skateboard or in other words how to do a 360 flip on a skateboard. After following these simple steps you should be able to do exactly that and then get a head start on some other special tricks too.

Transforming an Aluminum Patio Cover Into an Insulated Roof on Your Mobile Home

Mobile home repair can be a daunting task. A popular addition to mobile homes are aluminum patio covers. Aluminum patio covers offer a nice opportunity to increase outdoor living space. Typically these structures have a “U Pan” or “V Pan” design. A lot of people have tried to enclose the area underneath and heat it. Most people fail at this. I will tell you how to successfully accomplish this.

The hardest part to this task is effectively insulating the aluminum patio cover. Most people will see how the pans are shaped and become perplexed. The most effective way is to fill the low voids of the cover with 2″ foam board. Measure and cut strips of the foam board to fit in between the ridges of the pans. You want the surface of the foam board to be flush with the top of the ridges of the pans. If you are not flush yet, add an appropriate thickness of foam to make the surfaces flush. Once flush, overlay a foam board across the entire patio cover. You can use 3/4″ or 1″ foam. Use screws with washers to attach the top layer of foam. If you are not going to finish the interior of the roof and don’t want to see screws poking through, you can glue the foam down.

The next step is to install a rubber EPDM membrane over the roof surface. Black rubber is going to be the most readily available and inexpensive. I recommend using white EPDM rubber instead of black. You might have to call around to obtain this but it is worth the trouble. A white roof surface will reflect the sun rays in the summer time and help on keeping it cool. The insulation will keep the heat in during the winter months. Typically you would not glue the membrane down. Termination bars held down by screws are the best way to attach the roof. Install the termination bar on the vertical surface of the gutter/fascia that is bordering the patio cover. Use a 1/4″ hex head screw that is approx 1″ in length.

Make sure to properly tuck or flash the roof where it meets the existing structure. If you have an existing rubber roof and you have enough material, detach the termination bar and tuck the rubber under the other membrane. Then re-attach the termination bar.

You now have an insulated roof that you can enclose to fit your lifestyle. Use conventional wall construction to assemble and build walls around the area.

Natural Allergy Relief For Oak Pollen

Oak pollen allergy sufferers are quite familiar with the huge amounts of pollen that oak trees produce and the allergy symptoms that occur when oak pollen is high. The oak pollen pods resemble little worms and they release their pollen to be carried by the wind, while the pods fall and accumulate on the ground, almost like orangish-brown fuzzy snow.

During the oak pollen season, the effects of the pollen are everywhere, with cars and windows covered with the orange-brown film the pollen creates. Even pavement where the spent pollen pods accumulate will get stained brown. Those suffering from oak pollen allergies can experience severe reactions. Massive sinus drainage, watery eyes, sneezing, and/or coughing will develop that can defy almost any allergy treatment available, at least until the oak pollen subsides.

Severe oak allergy reactions can motivate sufferers to turn to every remedy they can think of, including drastic measures like steroid injections. Some will decide to handle the situation once and for all by starting allergy shots, even though the needles are less than pleasant, without realizing that it often takes years to finally get results.

Many oak allergy sufferers will seek out natural relief from treatments like nutritional supplements, herbal remedies, homeopathy and/or acupuncture, and all of these forms of treatment will provide some degree of temporary relief for the majority of people. But what if there was a way to do more than just suppress allergy symptoms?

But what if there was another way to deal with allergies that gets rid of the problem long-term as seen with allergy shots, but gets results in days and doesn’t require getting stuck with needles repeatedly? Well, there actually is a way to do this, using “energy medicine” techniques.

The most widely-practiced of these natural allergy relief methods is NAET, which stands for Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique. Dr. Devi Nambudripad is a chiropractor and acupuncturist from California who accidentally discovered how stimulating specific acupuncture meridians while being exposed to the allergens one reacts to can reset the body so that it no longer reacts to those allergens.

Since NAET was first developed in the 1980’s, other similar techniques have been developed that are more streamlined, but NAET is still the most popular. All energy-based allergy elimination techniques are definitely strange and can seem like they are too good to be true, but in eight years of practicing Allergy and Sensitivity Elimination and Reprogramming Technique (ASERT), a newer, more efficient version of allergy elimination based on the underlying principles of NAET, I have found it to be extremely effective on even the most severe and chronic of allergy sufferers.

Because these techniques are so strange and because I practice in San Antonio, an area where a high percentage of the population is still extremely skeptical of alternative medicine, I do the allergy desensitization on people and let them experience the results before they pay me. I use the honor system with regards to the allergy elimination procedure I use in my office – I do the full allergy elimination procedure and patients pay me after the fact when they are satisfied that the treatment was effective for them. The vast majority send me checks or call me with a credit card number, which I think is a dramatic testament to the effectiveness of this technique.

The great part about these techniques is that the results occur quickly. In the case of seasonal allergies like those to oak pollen, symptoms may be severe for weeks at a time, so allergy sufferers seek out some form of natural allergy relief that takes effect quickly, rather than a treatment approach like allergy shots that can take years to be effective, and rather than treatments that have potentially serious side-effects such as steroid drugs. Energy-based allergy elimination provides relief within a day or two and does so without the risk of side-effects.

Better yet, the effects of energy-based allergy elimination last for several months to several years because these techniques actually get rid of the allergies, not just suppress allergy symptoms and inflammation. So, oak allergy sufferers can usually go through multiple oak seasons without any problems without ongoing treatment after going through the allergy desensitization.

Although NAET practitioners often claim that the effects of NAET are permanent, which they may be in some cases, it has been my experience that allergies can re-develop, particularly after somone is sick with a cold or flu, or suffers a major trauma during a high pollen season. It appears that the body may develop allergies in a “guilt by association” manner in which an activation of the body’s immune system and inflammatory response from something other than pollen may become associated with the presence of a given allergen, thus triggering a reaction to the allergen. In other words, if you catch the flu during a time when oak pollen is high, it is not unusual to develop oak allergies.

In any case, energy-based allergy desensitization is very much for real, and it offers fast, effective natural allergy relief for oak pollen allergies, as well as any other type of allergy (including airborne allergens, foods, and skin-contact allergies).

Everything You Should Know About Bridge Cranes and Gantry Cranes

Cranes, defined as mounted mechanical instruments used to transfer small and medium sized loads over a short distance, come in a variety of designs including the bridge crane and the gantry crane. Cranes whether fixed or mobile are driven manually or by power. The bridge mounted crane is one of the few types of cranes that cannot be modelled as an industrial vehicle, the other is the gantry crane (also referred to as overhead travelling bridge cranes). The bridge crane is composed of a beam that bridges a bay (wall to wall) that moves on two tracks mounted on either wall. A hoist and trolley, which traverses across the bridge, provides a total of three axes of motion. The hoist moves the load up and down, the trolley moves the load right and left, and the bridge of the crane moves the load forward and backward.

The dimensions of a generic bridge crane could include the following: Trolley designed for maximum cross slope of 1%, End trucks designed for maximum longitudinal slope of 3%, NEMA 4 weatherproofing, Cold weather protection, emergency brakes that will stop the crane in 12′ and act as a hold down (brake sufficient for a 50 MPH wind velocity), completely bolted construction to facilitate erection as well as disassembly for easy relocation, radio remote controls and a full length catwalk with access ladder on 1 leg.

New and used bridge cranes (which are becoming increasingly popular as a cost effective option) represent a noteworthy class of cranes which function with a pulley system suspended from a trolley that travels on tracks that run along either one or two beams that lie horizontal to one another. The beams are known as the bridge and they are supported at both ends. More often than not the bridge is mobile along the pair of horizontal rails, allowing the crane to serve a large rectangular area. In the case of a circular space, a rotary can be utilised.

Gantry cranes, or overhead bridge cranes, are versions of the crane which lift objects by a hoist which is fitted in a trolley and can move horizontally on a rail or pair of rails fitted under a beam. Overhead travelling cranes and gantry cranes are particularly suited to lifting very heavy objects and huge gantry cranes have been used for shipbuilding where the crane straddles the ship allowing massive objects like ships’ engines to be lifted and moved over the ship. In essence, overhead or bridge cranes refer to a crane with a movable bridge carrying a movable or fixed hoisting mechanism and travelling on an overhead fixed runway structure.

Overhead bridge cranes, also known as bridge cranes or as suspended cranes, have the ends of the supporting beam resting on wheels running on rails at high level, usually on the parallel side walls of a factory or similar large industrial building, so that the whole crane can move the length of the building while the hoist can be moved to and fro across the width of the building.

Ready-To-Assemble Furniture – Advantages and Disadvantages

Ready-to-assemble furniture is now gaining popularity in the furniture market. Coffee tables, bookshelves, kitchen shelves and stools are among the furniture with ready-to-assemble furniture. These furniture or ready-to-assemble furniture are mostly sold in WalMarts and some discount stores. Large companies such as IKEA have also expanded their designs on RTA and are making it available globally for consumers.

So what is it about RTA furniture? Why do some people buy it and why do some people still opt for ready-to-use furniture?

RTA furniture designs are limited. Since its assembly is left to the consumer, manufacturers have made sure that its individual parts are regularly-shaped enough for consumers to put together. Intricate parts and elaborate designs may prove frustrating to the consumer to assemble or may require more complicated tools to assemble. Also, since furniture and RTAS are imported from major furniture manufacturers around the world, instructions and translations in foreign language may pose another problem for the do-it-yourselfer.

On the positive side, they are relatively less costly compared to ready-to-use furniture. An owner of an RTA furniture will not think twice of repainting his RTAs so that it fits into the color scheme of his new home or of restyling it and modifying it according to his own taste if the old RTA look starts to get boring. However, an owner of an expensive antique, ready-to-use furniture will definitely think even more than twice of having his expensive furniture repainted or re-upholstered.

Since these are designed more for functionality rather than for its aesthetic purposes in your homes, these are therefore ideal furniture for apartments, boarding school rooms and small-sized family homes. And since they can be assembled by anybody, it can also be dismantled by anybody who is relocating or moving to a new place. They are handy. They can be disassembled, packed in flat packages and moved from place to place without having to deal with the problem of it taking up most space in the mover’s van.

RTA furniture have their own disadvantages and advantages. Knowing these will definitely save the furniture buyer a lot of time, and even a lot more money.

HP TouchSmart Wall Mounting – VESA Mount Adapter For HP Dx9000 and IQ500 Series TouchSmart PC

The new HP TouchSmart dx9000 Business PC and TouchSmart IQ500 Series all-in-one desktop computer bring a new level of interaction to desktop computing that caters to multiple environments. The ability to mount the HP TouchSmart with a variety of alternate mounting systems, such as wall mounts, kiosk stands, and zero footprint articulating arms, allows for this innovative computer to be strategically placed to attract customer usage, and to also correctly position the touch-enabled interface for a more inviting and comfortable interaction experience for the user.

Creative individuals have posted homemade methods for attaching the HP TouchSmart to VESA compliant mounting systems, just like any standard LCD monitor display would be mounted. Unfortunately, these methods do not correctly attach to the back of the HP TouchSmart to properly hold its weight. Also, the modifications made to the computer ultimately void its warranty by HP.

The HP TouchSmart dx9000 and IQ500 needed to have the ability to be mounted in order for the full potential of their touch-enabled technology to be realized. The VESA mount adapter bracket would need to be designed in a way that it would not require any modifications to be made to the HP TouchSmart for warranty purposes, and also correctly support the weight of the computer. iVERSAL has developed this solution. The VMAHP-22 VESA Mount Adapter from iVERSAL will correctly integrate to both the HP commercial TouchSmart dx9000 Business PC and consumer IQ500 Series desktop; providing the correct VESA mount interface for these computers to be used with VESA compliant mounting systems having the 100mm x 100mm mount hole pattern, and also providing the correct weight capacity for the computer.

“VESA” Mounting and the HP dx9000 TouchSmart Business PC and HP IQ500 Series All-in-One Desktop

For individuals who may not be familiar with the term “VESA” or “VESA Compliant”, VESA stands for “Video Electronics Standards Association”. VESA is an international non-profit corporation, which represents corporate members worldwide. VESA promotes and develops relevant, open standards for display manufacturers and the display mounting industry.

VESA standards provide specific guidelines for the mount hole pattern, placement, hardware, and guidelines to mount display monitors. VESA also sets the standards for the pad or mounting apparatus to be utilized by equipment manufacturers based on the size of the screen and monitor’s weight.

Beat It With A Hammer

I repaired large grocery store refrigeration equipment for forty five years. Because it was a mechanical piece of equipment I could bend, fold, or hammer the equipment into my finished product.

In other words, when you do not know what to do with something you beat it with a hammer until it conforms, starts to work, or breaks.

I think a lot of net-work marketers use the same approach. Especially us older generation.

This technology is new to us and we have always been able to take it apart and see how it works.

This is not the case in today's modern computer age.

I remember my first computer with a CDROM. I could not get it to work and I had bought the computer out of state and lived some twenty five miles out of town.

I tried everything I could think of and still the CDROM would just sit there and not work.

So, I took the computer apart thinking a wiring harness was not plugged in good and tight from the nine hundred mile trip home.

I could not find anything wrong with the wiring harness so I proceeded to the next step of opening up the CDROM. Big mistake as I had to wait for a new CDROM in the mail.

Once installed, I called the computer store and he walked me through the software commands and got it working. Upon vowing I would leave the inside of the computer alone, he let me go.

I wonder if we do not basically do the same thing today with a few changes.

We open up a network business and expect tons of leads and traffic and sign ups to start coming in.

When it does not happen we panic and start beating our opportunity up with a hammer. Surely if I do this or do that, I will get sign ups and leads will start to come in.

It took me some twenty years in my refrigeration field before I was considered an expert and called upon to render advice and consult.

Now I have a network marketing business that I have been doing for maybe thirty days and I am not making thousands of dollars like I was promised.

So what is a networker supposed to do?

1. Stop! Take a deep breath and start treating your business like a business and be a responsible CEO.
2. Develop a plan.
3. Start working your plan.
4. Ask others for advice. Do not try and be an expert and give advice if you do not know what you are talking about.
5. Start helping others anyway you can. Success is built on relationships and friendships.

The last thing you need to try is getting a bigger hammer and making the network fit.

Your networking business will be a success when you start acting and being successful.
