Selling Your Art – Part 1

Selling your art is a very different activity than creating it. The reasons for selling your work may be very different too. You will save yourself a lot of trouble and hard feelings the more clearly you understand your reasons for selling art.

Selling your art can come from an array of reasons. Your reasons could include any of the various money / material related desires. You may also enjoy the ego boost that a sale can bring. You may like to exhibit your work, be the object of attention yourself at an exhibition, or be the artist in the community.

Selling has many other possible reasons. You may have altruistic concerns of educating the public or providing beautiful pieces for the market. Some artists want sell so they can finance the acceptance of their style.

Selling art is not an easy thing to do for most people. Finding buyers, collectors, the right gallery, choosing a group of artists or a museum to align with can be time consuming and a daunting endeavor. Going to shows, art festivals, publishing ads or announcements, establishing a website, offering newspaper or television interviews, etc. are not to every artist's liking.

Occasionally you will make decisions as to how you will sell your work. You will decide which parts of selling you want to do for yourself and which parts you will leave to someone else.

Selling of art can sometimes conflict with creating of art. Besides the time spent in both activities, you may find buyers or your sellers at odds with your plans or personal taste. Buyers and Sellers may have predetermined conditions that they impose on you. Toulouse Lautrec sold work to one buyer who admitted he sign the front of the works with script instead of his logo. He finally did sign the work since his reason with the buyer that it was unnecessary.

Other buyers or sellers will have size or color constraints or requests. Some buyers need to know if a work is made of a specific material, and they may want reassurance or proof.

Many buyers and sellers want to know about the artist as a person, sometimes to establish a relationship of some kind. Buyers and sellers may become very judgmental about the artist's image or looks or manners – even their personal habits or social life. This kind of information can be passed on for
various reasons or withheld for various reasons.

The artist may need to be careful about the kinds of information that they provide, lest it be exaggerated or distorted, or simply provide a basis for completely unrelated sentences by some individuals or groups. In this respect the artist gains and loses from celebrity.

One of the artists that I have consulted with is Brad Bannister, who has a website at

Why Is A Rear Facing Car Seat Safer?

Why is a Rear Facing Car Seat Safer? One of the first places to look for the answer to this question is in statistics. The first statistic to look at is the most common type of crash.

The frontal crash wins hands down with this one. About 72% of all crashes are head on frontal crashes. That's nearly 3 out of every 4 crashes.

There's no way to protect your child against every type of crash in one seat, so to give your child the best possible protection it makes sense to choose a seat that will protect your child against the most common type of crash. The frontal one.

The frontal crash is the most common and often the most severe. Think about it for a moment, with a frontal crash you will go from whatever speed you're traveling to zero often in less than a second.

If you go head on with another vehicle you'll hit it with the combined speed of both vehicles. This will not make a difference to how fast you fly out of the front window should you not be wearing your seatbelt but it will make a difference to the damage of your vehicle since the severity of the accident.

Now back to the question. We've established that it's better to protect your child against a frontal collision. When your car goes from 40 mph to zero really fast the car stops but you and your child do not. You all fly forwards. The rear facing car seat will cradle the whole child reducing the risk of injury.

With a forward facing car seat in a head on collision the child flies forward and is stopped only by the straps. The body stops yet the legs, arms and head carry on going forwards only stopping because they're attached to the body. This is where many severe child injuries are caused.

But what if you're hit from the rear? Crashes to the rear, around 4%, tend to be much slower and therefore less severe, needing less protection to keep your child safe. A crash from the rear in a safety seat facing the back of the vehicle will have the same effect on your child as a frontal crash will for a forward facing safety seat.

Your child's head, arms and legs will fly forward as the torso is stopped by the straps but as the car will most likely be going a lot slower the injuries will be less severe.

Side impact crashes which equate to the remaining 14% tend to have better protection from a rear facing car seat . It stops the head from being thrown out of the shell of the safety seat reducing the chances of a neck injury.

    How To Repair Bicycle Brakes

Keeping your bike in good riding condition is essential so that you avoid injuries and accidents. It is typically common for brakes on a bicycle to spoil hence requiring to be repaired. By establishing some of common problems for brakes and knowing how to repair them, you will be able to avoid any serious accidents that might end up disabling your bicycle. The following is a step by step guide on how to repair bicycle brakes.

It is important to check the calipers for the frontage and back brakes in order to establish if or not these pads are approaching the rims of your bicycle. This can actually be attained by pressing the brakes handles as you find a close outlook of the act of the calipers. It is important to note that, the calipers have to be in contact with the rims all at once.

Secondly, you need to read and understand the uses manual for your bicycle and note all the important steps on repairing its brakes. Mostly, the alterations can be done in the course of one regulating the knives both on the brake arms and handlebars. The handlebar is normally used to make all the excellent modification adjustments. On the other hand, the knob present at the brake assembly is generally used to correct all the main alignment issues.

Regulate all the brake pads through using hex keys for tightening or loosing the brake arms until you ensure that the pads are exactly allied with the rims. Ensure that you squeeze the screws on all the pads after the suitable adjustment is done.

Another factor you need to note on how to repair bicycle brakes is to ensure that you maintain your brake cables by lubricating them more often. So, you can opt to remove each cable by loosing the locking hex nut every end. You do not require any kind of tools to carry out this practice.

It is also important to rotate the brake cables tub all the way towards the bikes body brakes. However, depending with the kind of bicycle you own, the barrels might be located in a location where cables come into the brakes. Get rid of all slacks from the cables, clutching the end with needle-nose pliers and pull them out. As you pull, ensure that you use the Allen wrench to make the pinch bolt more tightly onto the cable.

Apply to your brake cable oil to the bicycles cable itself, and then troubleshoot the cables reverse through the cover so that it will grease the core as well. Lastly, make sure that you repair the brake cable assemblage by gliding the cable back through the housing and connecting every end to your hex nut at the tuning knobs This might require you to read the manual in order to get every detail on how to get every detail. This is a step by step guideline on how to repair bicycle brakes. So, if you have a bicycle that needs repair, these steps ill b of help to you.

    Modern Architecture

Modern architecture is a style found in the buildings that have simple form without any ornamental structures to them. This style of architecture first came up around 1900. By 1940, modern architecture was identified as an international style and became the dominant way to build for many decades in the 20th century. Modern architects apply scientific and analytical methods to design.

Many historians refer the origins of this style of architecture to the social and political revolution of the time, though others see modern architecture as primarily driven by technological and engineering developments. The availability of new materials such as iron, steel, concrete, and glassrought about new building techniques as part of the industrial revolution. Some regard modern architecture as a reaction against ancient building style. Above all, it is widely accepted as a matter of taste.

For the international style, the most commonly used materials are glass for the facade, steel for exterior support, and concrete for the floors and interior supports. The floor plans are functional and logical. But, many people are not fond of the modern style. They find its stark, uncompromisingly rectangular geometric designs quite inhumane. They think this universal style is sterile, elitist, and lacks meaning.

Modern architecture challenged traditional ideas about the types of structures suitable for architectural design. Only important civic buildings, aristocratic palaces, churches, and public institutions had long been the mainstay of architectural practices. But, modernist designers argued that architects should design everything that was necessary for society, even the most humble buildings.

Architects began to plan low-cost housing, railroad stations, factories, warehouses, and commercial spaces. In the first half of the 20th century, modern architects produced furniture, textiles, and wallpaper – as well as designing houses – to create a totally designed domestic environment. The aesthetics used by modern architects celebrated function in all forms of design, from household furnishings to massive ocean liners and new flying machines.

Modern architecture originated in the United States and Europe and spread across the rest of the world. The characteristic features that made modern architecture possible were buildings, stylistic movements, technology, and modern materials.

    Repairing Cufflinks

Cufflinks are fun to wear. They add dazzle to a pretty boring sleeve or suit almost like magic. And since they're usually small that come with many different, not to mention inexpensive, designs, they also make great gift ideas and collectible items. But just like other accessories, cufflinks are not damage-proof. Sometimes, no matter how much care you handle it, your cufflinks will wear off one way or another – either something will fall off or be broken or missing.

Of course, when this unfortunate thing happens, you have a choice of either buying a new pair or repair it yourself. Now if you broke your everyday casual-style cufflinks, you can buy a new one instead to save you much trouble. Novelty and casual cufflinks are inexpensive anyway. But if you're wearing a prized cufflink – either of rare design, that holds sentimental value, a vintage one, or a collector's item material, you would not be too quick to replace it. You will try to salvage it, either repair it yourself or have it repaired.

Some cufflink stores provide warranty for their cufflinks and will replace or repair your broken cufflinks free of charge. If that is the case, you're in luck. Broken cufflinks under warrantee will save you lots of trouble (time and money) than repairing them on your own.

If that is not the case, your best option is to take your accessory to a jeweler instead.

Here's a short analysis. If you opt to do it yourself and you know that this is not your specialty, you get to save on money on repair, but there's also the risk of possibly aggravating the damage. If you have it repaired professionally, you spend extra but at least you can expect quality.

People normally take their broken jewelry to professional jewelers for repair and restoration. Cufflinks, just like most jewelry, are small, with sometimes intricate patterns and design, which alt makes it harder to fix.

When repairing cufflinks, take note of the exact damage and the specific part you're trying to fix. Of course, also consider what type of cufflink you are repairing. Cufflinks may come in different base material s – usually as metal, wood, or silk.

For missing or broken pieces of cufflinks

Since cufflinks are small, it is very possible to chip off some piece of it or bend some part out of place. For metal based cufflinks, you either glue your pieces together or sold them (the metal ones).

You will by now know that repairing cufflinks is not like your ordinary art class. For example, you have to use a special metal glues such as metal epoxies, when gluing metal and other cufflink pieces. Ordinary glues will simply not hold on.

Same is applicable if you have a broken gemstone. Carefully take all pieces out and get a replacement; Fortunately gemstones are not hard to find. Get the right kind (or sometimes a new one) and the right size, then glue it properly to your cufflinks.

If and when gluing your metal is not the most appropriate, you can also try soldering (for the metal parts only). Soldering melts the metals first and they're bounded together after it cools down. Again note that cufflinks are small and so are its pieces, which makes it hard it keep in place.

Still, if you're inexperience, you're best option would be to have your cufflinks repaired instead.

Decorate Your Interior With Stained-glass Windows

When you install stained-glass windows, you will feel like you are living in another world. Air of your house will be kaleidoscopically colored, when sun will glance at your place. There will be no gray sky and sad mood already!

Any room requires its own color filling. We are used that as a rule carpets, wall-papers, pictures, posters fulfill this function. But even our ancestors knew that stained glass could make the most modest interior fascinating. It turns out, that these "colorful glasses", attributes of Gothic cathedrals and art exhibitions, are quite appropriate in our homes and apartments.

Fine art fine arts inform: stained glass window is a decorative composition of color glass or other materials, which let pass light. Stained glass art – is one of the most conservative. A beautiful toy made of pieces of color glass, braided with metal, still charms us, although it was invented centuries ago.

There are several stained glass techniques
In classic stained glass window pieces of color glasses, cut according to a certain drawing, are combined with a lead, copper or brass profile between each other.

In these stained glass windows plot is on the second place. The main in them is material, ie glasses, which are chosen the way they would give that very color spectrum while peek-a-boo. And then sun beams, being refracted, make glass burning with bright sun colors.

Typesetting stained glass window will really serve you during whole life. While draw one (varnished pseudo-stained glass window) will last much less, as even most persistent colors become fading in 6-7 years. But there are situation, when typesetting stained glass window looks heavy and bulky and suits not every room or furniture. So, instead of boring transparent glasses you can insert those draw stained glass windows in doors of your sideboards and cupboards, they will look lighter by sight.

In the end of a century before last a new technology in style "Tiffany" was invented, named in honor of its creator (a jeweler, who is also known for his wonderful stained glass table lamps). According to this technology, every glass plate was set in foil and glasses were soldered together. Refusal of a hard frame allows using these items not only as elements of décor in embrasures, but also as shades for lamps or decoration for ceilings.

Beside classic, there are several modern techniques of making stained glass windows. One of them is according to American technology SGO. A steadfast surface is applied on a transparent sheet silicate glass, this surface adds color and structure to a future stained glass window. This technology has several pluses, which contribute to its popularity.

Firstly, application of sheet glass makes possible using of such stained glass windows in insulating glass units with observation of all technological norms. Agree, sometimes it is just vitally important to close unattractive view.

Secondly, not only silicate, but also acrylic glass can be a base for such stained glass window, and this reduces its weight significantly, and thus widens opportunities of usage.

And, thirdly, such stained glass window is twice cheaper, than a classic one.

Technology of making "fusing" stained glass windows in home conditions is complicated, as this process means fusing of a future stained glass window, composed on pieces of color glass, glass granules, charge, in a special stove at the temperature up to 850 C Such stained glass windows have different form, thickness and texture. And this allows using them as effective elements of interior: in the form of partitions, blocks in wall, as tabletop.

There is also "casting" technology. In this technology they use metallic forms with relief hollows, in which melted color glass is poured.

But, unlike stained-glass windows in "fusing" style, draw and texture on stained-glass window in "casting" style are restricted by that metallic form, of which it is produced.

If doors, windows, ceilings of color glasses are not appropriate for you at all, you can limit yourself with a small mini-stained-glass window on your window.

The way stained-glass windows are made

    Materials, necessary in work:

    Stained glass

    Soldering tin

    Leaden profile

    Steel-wheel glass cutter

    Soldering iron

    Base-support (you can use veneer)

You can buy stained glass and profile in artistic shops, specializing in selling materials for making stained glass windows.

Let's examine production of stained glass window of bought stained glass.

Firstly you should make a full-scale draft of a future stained glass window.

Then choose glasses, considering thickness of profile, and cut fragments of necessary form.

Cut glass is broken off without tension. Put glass under rib of a bar and then you can break it off accurately and precisely with two fingers.

Put T-shaped profile between glass fragments, and frame a window with P-shape profile, which serves also as frame.

Leaded profile can be cut off with a knife easily.

Another variant, when instead of profile they use soldering tin (stannic wire
    2-3 mm thick in diameter).

Tabs for scaffolding are made of thin wire and soldered – your stained-glass window is ready.

How To Connect More Than One AV Device To A TV With Only 1 Scart Socket

Many modern television sets only have one or two scart sockets. This can cause problems if like most of us you have many devices you need to connect to the television. The average household in the United Kingdom will have a DVD player, an older video recorder, a games console and some form of set-top box either a satellite or cable box. With all these devices requiring their own scart socket. It's easy to see how you can quickly run out of spare sockets. However there is a solution, you can use a scart splitter box. These boxes allow you to add extra scart sockets to your television quickly, easily and at a very cost-effective price.

There are a three main types of scart splitter available. By far the most common is a simple none switched device. This is a small box with anything from three to five scart sockets, it also has a cable with a scart plug. You simply plug your devices into the box, and then plug the cable from the box into your television. With none switched boxes It's important to remember you must switch off wherever equipment is not in use. If you have a DVD player and a satellite system connected to the box and you want to watch the DVD you must switch off the Satellite; if you do not, the box will not know which signal to show. The manual box is the cheapest option. You can buy a manual scart box from four pounds in the United Kingdom.

Another type of box available is the switched scart splitter. This type of box has buttons next to each of the scart sockets. You can then select which device you wish to use by simply pressing the button next to the corresponding socket. This type of scart splitter allows you to keep all your devices switched on and select them via the button on the scart adapter. Switched scart boxes typically cost from ten pounds.

The final type of scart splitter box is the automatic scart splitter, as the name suggests this type of box automatically selects the device. It does this by detecting the prominent signal and playing that to the television. These are the most convenient of all the boxes as they do not require any operator control. This type of box is the most expensive, you can expect to spend anything from twenty pounds upwards.

Art Gallery Openings – A Young Artist’s Colorful First Time Experience

The first time visit to an Art Gallery Opening can be an eye widener for anyone, as this experience of a young artist and newcomer to New York reveals:

The event was a combination exhibition opening and birthday celebration for the Lambert Art Gallery, which, a few years earlier, in a moment of exuberance and elation at its own prosperity, had given birth to the smaller, fledgling downtown dealership, the Eye Span Space, where, incidentally, Celia had planned to apply for a job. Having taken the bus up Avenue of the Americas to Fifty-Seventh Street, she steadily clicked her way east in semi-high heels, gradually losing awareness of her resounding progress. As she approached the large, dark, marbled arcade entranceway, she stopped for a few moments to watch the steady stream of well-attired people en route to and from various events being hosted within the tall, shadowed and foreboding expanse of building which confronted her. Taking a step backward, she shivered slightly, bracing herself as though against a sudden, chill breeze. Then, gathering her courage about her as a shawl, she walked ahead to join the easy flow of people now entering this awesome mass of architecture.

Once safely inside the dark glass doorway, Celia joined in the procession to the equally impressive elevators. The doors rolled smoothly open and closed on a deep amber and brass interior, large and rather impersonal, in keeping with the structure’s darkened atrium entranceway, yet at the same time warm and set aglow by its now pleasantly peopled interior. Curious, the hushed, polite, but electric intimacy of vertical travel alongside strangers. Celia tried to picture the experience of “lifts” designed for horizontal movement — travelling around, or even spiralling the building’s girth. Fun, she decided, like a work-a-day amusement park, but neither practical nor intimate. Flying could be very sensual, but sometimes strongly separative; for, a definite pull of gravity was necessary for any true sense of intimacy. And the shyness — that same kind of shyness was present that sometimes occurs at one-to-one first-time encounters or during formal introductions among groups of strangers. It was difficult, next to impossible to look directly at anyone now, for everyone faced straight ahead, except for couples and threesomes, who stood slightly inclined toward one another, even in their subtlety, boldly breaking the pattern.

Celia called on peripheral vision to glance at those persons on either side of her. To her left stood a rather tall, handsome, olive-skinned woman beautifully attired in black silk and speaking in a quiet, but animated fashion to a very tall, pale, young wisp of a man wearing flesh colored spectacle frames who swayed back and forth, seemingly in slow motion, to the staccato rhythm of her words. On the left were profiles of elegance and polite impatience; on the right, of amiability and anticipation, silent silhouettes of well contained emotion.

When the elevator doors slid apart once again, its passengers stepped out into a spacious, high-ceilinged room with soft spotlights on large abstract still-life paintings against newly painted white walls. The room was already nearly two-thirds full of mingling people — some lively, animated; others with affectation of condescending boredom.

A slender dark young man (one of the bored) was commenting in a rather loud whine to a short portly matron in a sea-green suit with matching forties pill-box hat, on the inferiority of the champagne being served. To Celia, champagne was at this point still an item of novel extravagance; she had yet to discover differences in quality and the fact that, in general, gallery openings were notorious for serving relatively low quality liquid refreshment. The chubby woman in green seemed to agree wholeheartedly with the young man’s complaint. And yet, Celia noted that as they exchanged yawns and tired, affected, lazy remarks, both sipped away and emptied full glasses.

After several glasses of the bubbly, overly sweet beverage, Celia found herself floating slowly around the crowded floor in counter-clockwise direction, as though she were a vague dancer in some unexplained ballroom scene of another time. Along her course, she had brief encounters with a pompous politician; a harried hairdresser; an overworked bleary-eyed accountant; six painters; three sculptors; a jaded journalist turned art critic; an undertaker’s apprentice; the fussy, hyper mother of a “child prodigy painter” (in tow); a dapper Danish diplomat; a radiantly regal opera singer in flowing scarlet silk and satin; and a tall, slightly aloof man of fortyish with dark, greying hair and a child-like, uneven, mischievous smile that lit up large dark eyes in an otherwise sobered, somewhat stern face.

They met when Celia, turning abruptly to sweep yet another glass of champagne from a passing tray, tripped over her own feet, wobbled dangerously, and performed a loud, impromptu tap-dance to recover her equilibrium, at once startling and silencing the people around her. Reaching out, he offered support by means of a firm hand under one of her elbows until she regained her balance. Then, he brought his hands together gently in soundless applause as his face broke into a smile. “Somewhat disoriented, aren’t we?”

And those eyes… there was a strong pull, a definite sensation of magnetism drawing her into those lively, compelling eyes. Later, thinking back, she was certain they had been dancing together — just the two of them, somewhere off in a room to themselves, although there had been the crowd and no music at all. Something assured her of it, even though it couldn’t be so…. But first impressions can be like that. And first impressions lead to larger canvases of experience called Life.

    Incredible Hens and Nutritious Eggs!

The hen that gives us the egg for our breakfast is such a wonderful gift of nature! She scores both on quality and quantity. There is no other bird that produces so many unfertilized eggs in its lifetime. Eggs that are perfect nutrition for us and our babies!

The Hen's egg when it is laid contains all that is needed to make a chick. It's so complete in every detail that as soon as the small bird is born, it is ready to face the World. It needs no additional feeding by the mother. As the chick comes out of its shell, it starts running, eating and chirping! Other species of birds produce fledglings which require caring and feeding till they grow features and learn to fly and feed on their own.

Everyone knows that the egg consists of yellow yolk and white aluminum. But there is quite a lot more in it than meets the eye. The yolk has a small germinal disc on its surface which is the embryo that will ever grow into the chick. The yellow part is encased in a protein film called Vitellin membrane which has two small anchoring cords on opposite sides for holding the egg yolk in the central position. The yolk is surrounded by an immediate layer of thick aluminum and an outer layer of thin or fluid aluminum. The entire egg contents are contained within an outer sac called the shell membrane. And finally there is the shell forming the encasing of the egg. The shell membrane hugs the egg shell on the inside except at the top where it leaves a small gap inside the shell. This gap forms an air pocket within the egg.

The yolk provides the proteins and the minerals for the embryo to grow to form the chick. The white albumin is the store of protein and water to nourish the growing baby. There is another important function of the aluminum. It helps to carry the oxygen into the growing chick and remove the carbon dioxide to the outside. The aluminum surrounding the yolk absorbs carbon dioxide and becomes thick milky white. The gas is then diffused to the thin aluminum and passes through the shell membrane and the porous shell to exit to the atmosphere. The oxygen on the other hand permeates through the egg shell and gets absorbed in the thin aluminum. The life sustaining gas then diffuses into the thick aluminum, passes through the Vitellin membrane for the need of the growing embryo. The two membranes are so fantastic that while they allow the gases to pass, there is no way for the liquid to go out!

The chick grows day after day consuming the nutrition in the egg. From the liquid mass of the yolk and the albumin, the chick forms its bones, flesh, beak, feathers and eyes! Quite an amazing transformation! When the chick is fully formed, it begins to breathe. It instinctively moves its beak towards the air pocket between the shell membrane and the shell at the broad end of the egg to breathe through the holes on the base of its upper beak. It breaks the membrane and begins to inhale and exhale in the air pocket. Soon the oxygen depletes in the air pocket and the chick then pecks the shell for pursuit of more air. Within minutes it breaks out of it and emerges into the World!

The eggs of reptiles do also produce young which begin to move and eat as soon as they are born. But the eggs of birds that fly high produce nestlings which require tending from their parents. Hens barely fly and are more of ground runners. Are they related to the reptiles? And using our imagination, can we see Cocks as descendants of Dinosaurs?

In nature, when a hen starts laying, she waits till she has collected about 15 to 20 eggs and then she sits on them to keep them at incubating temperature to produce the chicks. She stops feeding when she can see adequate number of eggs and preparations to sit for warming the eggs. She produces no more eggs till all the chicks are hatched out. It is this quality of the hen to produce a clutch of eggs before she stops laying, that the poultry-man uses to deceive the hen for her to continue producing more eggs. He removes the eggs as they are laid. She lays more eggs as she is unable to see the sizeable clutch for her to sit on for hatching. She continues to produce more eggs because she wants to have that minimum number to incubate! In this way the poultry-man induces a single hen to produce as many as 300 eggs in a year! He makes the hen annually produce eggs weighing more than 10 times her own weight!

The hen is such a wonderful bird that it keeps on laying eggs whether she has mated or not! She keeps on producing unfertilized eggs day after day weekly for 6 days and then takes the seventh day off! There is no other bird that produces so many unfertilized eggs per year. All for the benefit of Man! The hen is made for producing eggs for man's consumption! Eggs are a perfect food for humans for building and repairing their bodies.

The average egg weighs about 57 gram of which 7 g is the weight of the shell. The white weights 33g of which Protein is 3.6g, and the yolk is 17g of which Protein is 2.9g and Fat 5.6g. Water content is almost 38g in the egg! The egg white has no fat, which is all a part of the yellow yolk.

The egg protein is the best food protein that we have. The quality of proteins in other foods is evaluated against the standard set by the egg protein! Both children and adults require proteins to build muscles and repair body tissue. You will not find a better protein and value for money!

Two thirds of the egg fat consists of Oleic acid similar to that found in Olive oil. The remaining third is saturated fat. The fat ratio is near ideal! Beside, the fat is so finely emulsified that it is easily digested even by infants!

Eggs contain vitamin A, vitamin B Complex and vitamin D, and an abundant supply of minerals, such as iron and phosphorus that are essential for building and maintaining strong, healthy bodies. But eggs are low in calcium (it is in the shell), and contain little or no vitamin C.

Some people wrongly shun eating egg due to its cholesterol content. They have nothing to fear as the research study published in The European Journal of Nutrition on 28th August 2008, has shown that eating two eggs per day, while on a calorie-restricted diet, succeeded not only in weight reduction but reduced their blood cholesterol levels , too!

Eggs are regularly eaten for breakfast as scrambled, poached, fried, as omelets or in boiled form. I would urge you to try the simple egg salad for breakfast. It's made from diced pieces of the white part of boiled eggs with a little mayonnaise and parsley or coriander garnish; salt and pepper to taste. There is no yellow yolk in it. The dish is mainly protein and is quite filling. But no matter how you eat the egg, it's an awful nourishing food for us humans and our babies too! The incredible hen laying an egg a day for 300 day in a year, each with so much nutrition is such a wonderful gift of Nature! It's a blessing to feel good about!

How to Incorporate Landscape Lighting For Night Time Illumination

When they say, "let the sun shine in," during the day, what exactly do they say at night? "Let the landscape lighting illuminate?"

How many times have you arrived at a home at night only to discover that you could not find your way to the front door? Scary, unsafe, and so unappealing. Now there are companies that do nothing but handle landscape lighting design.

Landscape lighting design is really not that difficult for the DIY homeowner – especially if your landscape lighting ideas focus on solar power. With no electrical writing concerns, you have an open playing field in which to build your nighttime world.

Your plan should center around two things: safety and enhancement.

First, where do you need lighting for safety? Typically, all walkways, secondary paths, and anywhere else someone might be wandering. This becomes a visitor's compass to your home and around your yard. When you install landscape lighting for safety, the general rule of thumb is to place the light so (a) it does not shine in someone's eyes, and (b) that it illuminates at least 75% of the path from side to side. (Nothing like having someone blinded by the light or walking off the side of the path into a flower bed.)

Next, consider the spacing. This is best done at night when you can see what kind of coverage you need to have. This is the one area in which you do not want to skimp! If you are particular about the spacing between each light – ie, that it has to be exact – then lean towards the "more is better" approach.

For enhancement, some great landscape lighting ideas include up lighting trees, accenting a fountain, illuminating an architectural feature, highlighting a fence, or brightening a darkened area. In this case, the installation of the landscape lighting is all about where you place the light versus how much lightening you need.

When it comes to how to install your landscape lighting, that is going to depend on the type of lighting you will be using: solar or electrical. If you have an external outdoor receptacle, then doing walkway lighting is fairly easy for the do-it-yourselfer. If you do not have an outdoor receiver, you may want to hire an electrician to install one. When it comes to solar, go for it. Simply make sure that your lights are positioned where they will receive enough sun to charge the solar cells and that they will generate enough lighting for the planned use.

Your landscape lighting design plan should be something you have to do only once with minor tweaks into the future. Do it right the first time, and you are on your way to having a home that is a beacon in a dark, nighttime world.

The "Concept" Holds the Magic Key to Your Interior Design and Decorating

Interior design and decoration, as well as any other creative work, must start with an idea. The idea or the concept is the "big deal." Before we can do anything, we must clearly understand what we desire to do. No one can be so naïve as to suppose that vague ideas and hazy undefined concepts will get you anywhere. As it is said, "If you do not know where you're going, any road will take you there." In addition, I will add, "Once you get there, you will not like it!"

In the title of this article, I mentioned that the concept holds the magic key. In a sense, it is the magic key and in another sense, there is no magic to it all. The magic is infused based on skill, knowledge, imagination, and wise judgment.

The effects of great interior design are produced by definite relationships of form and color; scale and proportion; lighting and texture; as well as a whole host of interrelated elements. In a sense, it is no more mysterious than the relationship of words and sentences, grammar and punctuation, as well as clarity and substance.

Rooms do not grow in beauty, repose, or dignity on their own. They are imbued with these attributes by a studied and creative process. Nothing gets better looking on its own … unless you're talking about a caterpillar turning into a butterfly! The process is not very difficult to understand. However, it can never be successfully employed if you do not know what you are trying to do. Therefore, this concept is of tremendous importance. It's not only what you want the room to look like, but what you want it to feel like as well. This is something that we call ambiance !

One of the first things to decide is the purpose of each room. You do not have to unnecessarily go by the name by which it is designated. Determine and go by the actual function that will be performed in the life of the household. Do not be swayed or severely influenced by the conventions of your neighborhood, coterie, or class. Stay true to your real needs and real aspirations. Do not be afraid to be unique! Forget the fads! This is not fashion … as in clothing.

Once the real purpose of a room has been determined, everything selected and used in furnishing it should be in tune with that purpose. This ensures that the room expresses your desired ambiance in the same manner that was envisioned at the time of its conception.

So put your thoughts down on paper where you can see them and mull them over. Put down every thought and every idea you have that is descriptive in nature. Never think that anything is inconsequential. Write it all down. You never know how a small seed of an idea will germinate and grow into something wonderful.

Consistent adherence to a predetermined standard of excellence through the appointments of each room, as well as the transfers from room to room, is essential to outstanding work.

Fireproof File Cabinets – Why They Are a Must Have For Your Home and Business

Fireproof file cabinets play a critical role in protecting your important personal and business documents and safe storage of them can literally mean a fine line between failure and success of your business survival. They not only keep your hard documents safe and sound, but can also help you keep your data files away from fire and flood, that is, if you use a fireproof media safe as well. These are specifically made to be able to withstand great intensity of heat, as data files in digitalized formats have a lower burning point than normal paper.

It follows then that using the right fireproof file cabinets can help you keep a flourishing business safe. There are a few key types of fire proof file cabinets which you may consider, the nominal vertical units, the lateral ones as well as the side / tab end / tab versions.

The most common and popular of them all is the vertical ones, which are easily found in many offices and homes. They come in two to four drawers and are very versatile. They are best used for storing front to back filing and come in a variety of colors, designs and are insulated with a typical UL rating of 350 degree for 1 hour. That means that the unit can withstand a temperature of 350 degree F for duration of about an hour. The more fire proof the unit, the higher the temperature and longer the duration. The fire proof media safe, for instance, would have a much higher duration and temperature feature.

The lateral version is another option you could choose from. They are deep, wider than the verticals, and allow side by side filing as well as odd and long size files to be stored. Also prevalent are the choices two to four drawers which are all insulated separately. Plunger locks are used to make lock picking more difficult.

The side / tab end / tab fireproof file cabinets on the other hand, are more popular for record filing. Most medical institutions would prefer this form of cabinets as they not only enable letter and legal sized files, they are also HIPAA compliant. They are also tested for impact resistant.

    Stone Fireplace Mantel Advice

Stone fireplace mantels are an elegant way to add class and character to any room in your house. By understanding the different types of stone used in the construction of the mantel that you like the best, you will be able to pick the best stone fireplace mantel for your home. Remember to check the dimensions of the area where you would like the mantel installed, as well as the depth of the wall before you order your mantel. It can be incredibly frustrating to have your mantel come and find out that it will not fit in the room you ordered it for.

    Stone Fireplace Mantel Construction

Not all stone is created equal, nor is it evenly priced:

    * Natural Stone – marble, travertine, slate, granite, sandstone, limestone, and onyx can all be hand-carved into beautiful mantels. Limestone is the most common natural stone used for carving mantels and is usually the least expensive. Whether very decorated or very simple, your stone fireplace mantel will have the character and unique patterns of natural rock. The complex veining in the marble and some of the other stones can stand on their own as decoration without any accent. Natural stone fireplace mantels will usually be more expensive than cast stone because of both the materials and the artisanship.

    * Cast Stone – cast stone is man-made to look like natural stone. To make cast stone your mantel manufacturer will press a cement of gypsum and fiberglass or other minerals with a bonding agent into molds. The resulting bubbles and lines from the process mimic actual stone. Cast stone, although cheaper than natural stone, can still be pricey.

Natural stone is noncombustible, which means that you do not needlessly need an interior or surround for your fireplace. Cast Stone is usually noncombustible, but check with your manufacturer to be sure. Some stucco artists claim that they can achieve the same effect as cast stone around your fireplace for a fraction of the price. Ask these artists for some examples of their work and remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Whether natural or cast stone, your fireplace will be a charming focal point for your home for years to come.
