The 3 Day Face Lift and 7 Minute Face Lift

If you have noticed the telltale signs of aging and you are interested in getting a face lift, you should know there's more than one kind. You can certainly get a surgical full-service lift, but there are three other types of face lifts you might also want to consider.

Specifically we're talking about a weekend lift (or minilift), a 3-day face lift that's achieved through diet, and a 7 day face lift that's achieved through the use of a high quality wrinkle cream.

Weekend lift

Gone are the days when a woman would have a surgical face lift and disappear for weeks after, ostensibly in "Bermuda" or on some other holiday. These days, many women opt for the weekend lift, or minilift.

The weekend lift is called that because the recovery period can be as short as a weekend. A woman who gets this kind of surgical lift might return to work as early as Monday after getting a lift on Thursday or Friday.

Though many claim that the weekend lift provides the same benefit as a full face lift, a weekend lift concentrates on the areas of the face that need it the most – the neck and the folds of the nose, for example. This lift requires fewer incisions and takes much less time to perform. It is a good option for the woman who are interested in the benefit of a surgical procedure but who do not want to risk the pain and expense of a full face lift.

3-day face lift

This method of face lift is really no lift at all. It's a diet that promises, in three days, to change and enhance the look and feel of your skin.

The 3-day lift is promoted by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, a dermatologist who has written books and promoted a lifestyle that – through diet – can make people look younger.

If you're interested in the 3-day face lift diet, be prepared to eat a lot of salmon (wild salmon, in particular) and a good deal of vegetables and spring water. A small amount of oatmeal and fruit like raspberries and cantaloupe might also be part of the equation.

You can continue the diet past the initial three days, of course, but Perricone promises results in those three days.

7 minute face lift

No, eating a big dose of salmon will not get you an immediate face lift, and no surgical procedure can bring results in seven minutes, but there is one thing that can bring that quick result: A wrinkle cream.

A wrinkle cream like the Athena 7 Minute Lift can provide solid benefits that within just a few minutes will give your skin the look and feel of skin that's been lifted in some other way.

Through its use of natural and organic ingredients, the Athena 7 Minute Lift can – within just a few minutes – reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and sagging skin.

A little bit of aging is natural, but you can look like you're slowing the process down a bit when you take advantage of some of the quick fixes available these days.

Elevator Maintenance

Any building that has an elevator must ensure that the correct maintenance is carried out to ensure the seamless running and best performance of the elevator all year around.

The last thing anyone wants is to be stuck in a lift, so it is extremely important that all lifts are maintained to ensure peace of mind. Lift maintenance is going to be an important factor, to ensure that you are not faced with unnecessary breakdowns.

If your lift does break down you will want to ensure that you have access to the best technicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Lift service in offices and residential unit blocks are vital to the day to day lives of many, hence any downtime is not desirable. There is a lot of traffic in both residential and especially commercial blocks and lifts can be in use many hours of the day. If you have a building that is many stories high, and the lift is out of action, this can cause a real headache for many people.

Your chosen company will also have to deal with various Strata Managers and Body Corporate when it comes to work in Residential Unit blocks. This can be a tricky business and it is wise to select an organization who has experience and understands the ins and outs of these kinds of dealings.

Choosing your technician is an important factor and you need to ensure that the company has the correct qualifications, that they have been in business for a suitable amount of time. Another important factor to check into is that they also stock a comprehensive range of spare parts that cater for all types of lifts. There are a wide range of lift types, Otis, EPL, Whites, Boral, Schindler, Deve, Thyssen, Kone, Arnolds, McCredie’s, Express, Johns Perry, Johns Waygood, Eastern to just name a few. So if your lift needs a specific part, you will need a reputable company who holds a wide range of stock to limit the time waiting for ordering etc.

You will also need to check that the company you are using hold all the appropriate risk insurances including Public Liability and Workers Compensation. It would be a wise idea to ensure the company you are dealing with are members of the AEA (Australian Elevator Association), and this should give you instant peace of mind that you are dealing with professionals.

Do You Have Too Much on Your Plate?

Twice a year I make an effort to get out the office and go away for what has been deemed, "the Power Business Retreat '. This particular trip I went on my own and as such this gave me a chance to observe the people around me .

During the breakfast buffet, I watched as men and women alike loaded their plates with food. Plate after plate with mounds of food was brought to the table on display, ready for consumption. The scary part; the multiple plates were for just one person.

Being a first-hand witness to this behavior of grabbing everything on offer, as much as the plate would handle, I wondered if this is a behavior that business owners do with their day-to-day operations. Do people grab every product, service, app in sight to use in their business? Do they try every new social media update that comes on the market?

Are you filling your plate with more than you can consume?

Was I?

I thought about it and asked myself, where in my business was I biting off more than I could chew? Following some honest inspection of my own over consumption behavior, I identified three areas where my plate was too full.

1. Following too many 'gurus' who send daily newsletters

It's wonderful that people today are willing to share their knowledge via newsletters. At the click of a button you can sign up for this information and have it delivered to your inbox.

However, I realized that there were far more newsletters than I could read or keep up with. Subsequently I have opted-out of many and maintain 2 or 3 that I feel offer me the greatest value. They get flagged so I can find them in my inbox and go back toward the end of the day to read them.

2. Saying yes to coffee appointments that take hours out of my day

When accepting a 'coffee meeting' with someone who hardly knows me, it usually means someone wants a free consultation. A 45 minute conversation soon becomes one and a half hours long by the time you get the social pleasantries out the way.

Add in the 20 – 30 minutes each way for the commute and there goes two and a half hours out your day. This is precious time that you could be spent working within your business generating assets.

I've taken this type of meeting off my plate and replaced with the 15 – 20 minute phone call instead. Save the coffee for breakfast.

3. Taking on creative projects myself

We've all heard it before, play to your strengths and outsource your weaknesses. As much as I love working on the creative aspects of my business, the time it would take me to actually execute a project would take me 10 – 20 times as long as it would an expert in that field. Taking on creative projects totally overloads my plate.

Give the creative work to the people who do this daily and free up your time to do those things which are revenue generating.

It's amazing how much lighter I feel .

I want to hear from you. Where can you take things off your plate? Leave your comments on our Facebook page or tweet your thoughts.

Pellet Stove Tech Advances

A pellet stove is a stove that uses biomass and waste plant material to burn and create heat. It works much the same way as a traditional wood stove. One great advantage comes from the way the fuel is made. It is in the shape of small pellets that are added to a hopper that feeds the fuel in slowly and automatically to the burn pot. That sets up a constant flame that can be controlled automatically and needs little adjustment. During the Great Depression, braziers, barreled stoves, and oil drums were used often used while sawdust wood burning stoves also had an important role in this century. In 1930 the presto log (fuel made from sawdust collected from sawmills) was invented and resulted in the development of the pellet stove.

  • In the years since then the stoves have progressed tremendously to where they now commonly have computer controlled thermostats and are much more efficient than wood stoves.
  • A normal pellet stove can how hold as much as 50-60 lbs of fuel ready to be burned, saving you from time and energy you would otherwise spend messing with a standard wood stove.
  • The pellets are sent to the burn pot just as needed.
  • Additionally, modern stoves use a small 3-4 inch diameter vent pipe that can be sent straight through a wall without the need for a chimney allowing them to be installed almost anywhere.
  • The stoves use convection to move the air around and are not prone to overheating a room like a wood stove.

A pellet stove presents a number of other advantages. One is how adaptable it is. The thermostat I mentioned earlier can turn on and ignite the stove automatically. The stoves computer chips can detect faults and other problems as well as be controlled by remote. The fuel burns completely and leaves almost no ash. And not only can they burn wood pellets but also, grain, wood chips, and corn.

These stoves should be installed by a pro as they require double walled venting consisting of stainless steel and galvanized metal. Make sure that your installer checks for any possible leaks before you kick back and enjoy the stove. As with many things pellet stoves have come a long way, just make sure the set up is well done. Then watch your wallet get fat from the money you are not spending on expensive fossil fuels.

Use a Pressure Cooker to Cook Quickly and Nutritiously

Pressure cookers have this terrible reputation of being very dangerous. In the past they have been known to burst and trigger a fire in the kitchen or leave burns all over the cook. It is not like that with newer models and they are very safe to use. Food is mixed with a little water inside the pan. The lid is different in that it clamps and locks shut once this is done the cooker is placed on a burner of a stove. The heat gets hotter and starts to create steam which, in turn, creates a pressure inside the cooker because it cannot get out. Pressure will keep rising until it can’t anymore for the area inside the pot and then a little valve on the cooker or a weight that is attached to the cooker will start to release this excess steam preventing an explosion. Food is cooked at a much higher temperature without any danger of being burned. It also cooks 70% quicker than if you used the oven or a regular set of pots and pans.

When the requirements of the recipe are reached the cooker should be taken off the heat and it needs to sit for a little while. Each cooker has its own system of releasing the steam and most systems include a regulator that is lifted to release any steam that is left in the pot. When this steam is gone so is the pressure and it is time to remove the lid.

Often the cooker will be placed in a sink and cold water will be poured over it. Food is still cooking inside the cooker even though the heat has been turned off. The cold water will do the same as releasing the steam quickly by stopping the cooking process. This stops the food from being over cooked. It should be noted that if you do run cold water over a cooker you will still be required to release any steam or you will not be able to unlock the lid.

There are many benefits that come from cooking with a pressure cooker. Any bacteria or virus that may be on the food before will not come out alive because of the high temperature. The color of the food is retained because you are not using a great deal of water to cook it. If you have a tough cut of meat you can be assured it will come out tender and delicious when you use a pressure cooking machine. After the steam comes out the lid should be able to release easily. If it does not do not force it but wait a little longer and try again. Open the lid so the opening is away from your body so you can avoid any burns from steam or hot food.

Many companies make good pressure cookers but you can find some of the best made by T-Fal Wearever. They have several different sizes including 4, 6, 8 and 12 quart models that run USD $35 for the 4 quart and USD $65 for the 12 quart cookers. The handle is long and narrow and is made of durable plastic and the pot is made from aluminum that is polished out and natural aluminum on the inside. The 12 quart is a little different having 2 handles that lock at each side of the cooker. All models are equipped with safety valves and all gaskets can be replaced to ensure safety. The 12 quart cooker may go under the name of Mirro and can be used in the canning process. They can be placed in a dishwasher and are rust free. You will never get burned because they cannot be opened unless all the steam and pressure is gone from inside the cooker. Pressure gauges are included and readable. These cookers come with a 10 year warranty.

Megafesa USA makes another pressure cooker called the 8 Quart Super Fast Pressure cooker for USD $90. This one cooks faster than the others because of the material used in making the base of the cooker. There are three different levels of cooking and heat ‘ slow that cooks at 6 psi, then the medium that cooks at 9 psi and the super fast at a swift 15 psi. The lid will not be able to be removed unless all steam is released. This cooker has a safety valve, valve to release over pressure and a safety edged lid window. It is also made of aluminum with stainless steel. It must be hand washed.

If you need to make meals in a hurry you need a pressure cooker. Remember that they do help the environment because less energy is used in order to make a meal. The are very safe because you are unable to remove lids until all danger is past. Prepare a nutritious meal using a pressure cooker tonight.

Plastic Fabrications

Plastic fabrication refers to the process technologies which are required to manufacture components and items which are made from plastic. This can encompass many different processes, and can range from one off welded multi-item bill of material plastic assemblies for the nuclear medicine industry, to laser cut items and components that are used in the shop fitting industry.

There are many processes that are employed in plastic fabrication and some of the main ones are:

o Laser cutting

o Line bending

o Mechanical cutting

o Welding: Bonding

o heat treatment

o Polishing

o Drape moulding bonding

The products produced by plastic fabrication is vast; control panels, access doors, machine windows, lids, guards, enclosures, equipment housings, and wear parts are among the many plastic components processed using plastic fabrication.

Laser cutting is a very cost effective process which is used for profiling components from plastic materials such as plastic sheet, plastic laminate sheet, polypropylene, polyester and acrylics.

Plastic machining is carried out on CNC controlled machines, and the beds of these machines are large enough to allow for fast and efficient matching of all different grades of plastic and block materials. Plastic machining is best used for high volume and large scale components.

Other processes used in the fabrication of plastics can include:

o Routing

o Milling

o Drilling

o Turning

o Laser profiling & laser engraving

Bending plastic can be carried out by using several different techniques, and line bending is an efficient and reliable process which is used for forming tighter radius bends in most formable plastic sheets. With line bending the main benefits are; set up costs are low, straight bends are produced efficiently and no tooling is involved.

Many applications in line bending focus on double or single parallel bends to create items such as equipment housings and rectangular covers, yet line bending can also be used to form fairly complex forms as well.

Planks and Vacuum Stomach All You Need For Your Abs

I have been away for a few days, I’ve been spending some days at the beach, the weather is hot, summer is on its way, and i just love the beach, the football euro championship also started and so far so good, Portugal won the first two matches and the quality of the tournament is being good.

Anyway being at the beach made me want to write about six pack abs, i wish lots of people could have a nice six pack to show, but that’s not the case. Most people still keep doing all things wrong when it comes to abdominal training. At the gym or at the park i still see most people doing hundreds of crunches and leg raises, hoping to burn belly fat with that. At the gym i see another thing that i think it’s even worse, i see trainees doing those exercises with weights and that’s a very very bad idea.

I’ll start telling you why it’s a bad idea, because using weights will make your abs grow, and that will make you look bloated, your belly will be big and thick, and you don’t want that, what you want is a thin waist and defined abs.

Doing hundreds of reps will also do you no good, high reps don’t give muscles any definition, and it won’t burn fat, so stop waisting your time for nothing. First of all to have defined abs you need to be under 10% of body fat, and to do that you need to eat right and to do your cardio.

This post won’t be about nutrition, but eating right means, no saturated fats and a low carb diet. If you need to lose a lot of fat, make it a low caloric diet too. Drink a lot of water, at least 2 L per day, eat lots of veggies, make veggies the center of your diet, also eat good protein and healthy fats, the best source that combines both is fish.

Now the abdominal training, i only do two exercises and i believe it’s all anyone needs. The first one is the plank, you get in the push ups position, but instead of supporting your body with your hands, you do it with your forearms, keep your body tight and try to hold the position at least for 30 seconds if your a beginner. Try to add more time everyday, and to do more sets.

Vacuum stomach is an exercise that works the inner muscles of the abdominal wall, and those muscles when strong help you to reach your goal of a thin waist. In this exercise you pull your stomach in like if you wanted to gather your stomach with your back, try to keep your abs tight. Try to hold it for 30 seconds, like with the planks try to add seconds and sets everyday. You’ll feel tempted to hold your breath, but you can breath and should 🙂

Both exercises are isometrics and they’ll make your abs toned and defined, but to get them visible don’t forget, you need to burn that belly fat, and for that, the most important is what you eat, how you eat, and cardio.

Good luck, be patient and persistent, you’ll get there.

The Dirt On House Plan Styles

When selecting the perfect home plan for your house, keep in mind that most house plans are styled differently to reflect the community and personality of the owner. New styles abound every day as designers continue to come up with new ideas for modern homes. Some house plan styles fall along classic lines, whereas others take a unique twist on old themes. You've probably walked by a least a dozen homes in your life that were designed specifically for the owners living within.

There are dozens of different house plan styles to select from. Here is just a sampling of the various home plans currently available:

Split Bedroom – This house plan usually resembles a ranch style. Most are up to 2800 square feet and use floor space efficiently so you do not need much of any hall space in the home. A split home usually provides two separate bedroom areas, usually on opposite ends of the home.

Country – Country homes usually have vast exteriors , large front or back porches and open interiors. A country home also features a large kitchen and family area.

Cottage – A cottage home plan much like a country home plan often features a large porch and tall windows. A cottage style home may be smaller than a traditional country home.

Adobe – An adobe homeplan is similar to a southwestern style, often with stucco coverings and smooth walls.

Duplex house plans – A duplex home plan is nothing more than a multi family style home. Duplex homes come in various styles with various outside framing including wood or stucco.

Do not forget there are dozes more house plans than the few listed above. Other houseplans not mentioned above may include: luxury home plans, modular home plans, small house plans, beach house plans and even log house plans. When it comes to your home, the choices are endless.

The style plan you select will depend largely on your preferences. You might think about scanning your neighborhood to see what the dominant styles are of people living around you. While it is not a requirement that you buy and build a home in the same style as your neighbors, many people opt for something similar as it may help in the future if you ever decide to sell. The most important thing to remember is your house should provide you with a sense of comfort, quiet and joy. If you take your time selecting the right home plan, you should accomplish this task easily.

Tips for Selecting The Right Home Plan

Sometimes the vast array of choices makes selecting the right house plan overwhelming. Fortunately there are a couple of steps you can take to help speed the process of selecting a plan. First, you should sit down and decide what features are most important to you in your home. This includes the number of bathrooms and bedrooms you need, whether you need a family room, large kitchen and how formal you want your home to look. You should also consider how large a garage you'll need and the total square footage you can afford. All of these elements will help you select the right house plan.

Let's say for example, you want a large, roomy home with an open floor plan, large kitchen and bay windows to overlook the shore. A country or beach home plan will likely accommodate your needs better than a bungalow house plan. You can also narrow your selection by looking for housplans with certain features, such as a detached garage or a house plan that provides for side parking. A ranch house plan will look best on a large plot, whereas a taller house plan may suit a lot that is uneven or tilted.

Always take your time when selecting the right house plan. Once your home is built, you'll probably live there for some time. Occasionally you may be able to make a few minor changes to a house plan to help make it more suitable to your needs. If this is the case be sure to check with your designer first. Some changes are quite pricey. By and large, with the wealth of selections available today, you should be able to find a plan that accommodates most if not all of your personal preferences.

How To Do Decking

Winter months are long and dark. As soon as it hits spring we start to plan how we will spend our summers. In this article we look at a project that you can start now so that you can enjoy your hot summer nights. If you are considering doing your own decking, be sure to allow plenty of time because it can be quite tricky.

For your decking you will need:

  • A Pencil
  • Squared paper
  • A metal tape measure
  • Some wooden pegs
  • Some string
  • A strong Spade
  • A weed proof membrane, you can use a heavy-duty rubble sack that has been opened out.
  • Gravel or other small stones
  • Wooded deck boards and joists
  • Spindles
  • Newel posts
  • Handrail
  • A saw
  • Depending on the size, one or more tins of wood preservative
  • A drill
  • Some stainless steel or galvanised countersunk screws
  • An electric screwdriver
  • A long spirit level

  1. Draw a plan of your decking on the squared paper. You can use this to work out how much wood, and weed membrane that you will need.
  2. Using the pegs and string mark out where you will be putting the decking.
  3. Once you have dug the ground over and removed all of the weeds and grasses make sure the ground is level and spread out the weed membrane. Cover the membrane with the gravel or small stones.
  4. The next thing to do is create the frame. Start by putting together the joists to the size of the outside edge of the decking. Screw them together.
  5. Mark the frame every 400mm for the floor joists.
  6. Cut the joists to size. Put the frame and floor joists into the correct position in your garden.
  7. Join them together securely using three of the screws at each end of the joists. Use the spirit level to make sure that all the joists are level.
  8. Next you need to place the deck boards on top of the frame. For the strongest decking the deck boards should be placed at a right angle to the joists. Use 2 of the 50mm countersunk screws at each end of the deck board to secure it. There should be a gap of at least 3mm between each board because the wood may swell in warm or moist conditions.
  9. Most decking designs include a handrail. To create your own handrail, You will need to create evenly spaced grooves for the spindles in the handrail, you can either glue or nail them together. Do the same with the newel posts. Attach the spindles to the outside edge of the decking using long nails.
  10. Use the wood preserve liberally to cover the whole decking and handrail. This should be repeated every few years to keep your decking in tip-top condition.

Roll on the summer evenings with a good book and glass of wine.

The Deck Accessories to Complete the Look

Do you really need that many deck accessories? The answer to this question is yes. If you are investing in a wide range of items to create the perfect outside space, you will want to think about all of the details. These pieces will make the decking look great. Take some time to consider all of the options available. Invest in what will complete your space. This is a long-term investment. You will not have to make these decisions again for a long time.

The Railing

One of the most important deck accessories to consider is the railing. This is the structure you will need to have around the space. A deck would be dangerous without its railing. Laws often state how much space must be between each area, but this is often the standard feature. You do have options in terms of styles, finishes, and beautiful detailing for this support. Be sure to look for quality construction. Also, pick railings that are easy to maintain.

Next, take a look at what will hold that railing in place. These structures are called balusters. Traditionally, these should match well with the railing and the deck itself. You also want to consider any design features that may fit your needs.

Post Caps

Did you forget to think about post caps? Post caps are not standard when it comes to deck accessories. However, this is one of the easiest ways for you to customize the space and add some character to it. Think about post caps that are lamps, especially solar lights that can effortlessly illuminate the space for you. Post caps can be cost effective and highly functional.

Post Covers

Another detail to consider is the post covers. These fit over the top of the posts and create a visually impactful look in the space. It is a good idea to choose post covers that coordinate with the materials used for the deck and the railings. For example, you can use covers that look like real stone. This can add a lot of dimension and create a very impressive display in the space. It is nice to choose a material that will integrate nicely with the outdoor surroundings.

These are just some of the deck accessories you can select for your space. The good news is you have plenty of opportunities to create a space that is functional and perfectly suited to your own style needs. This could become your favorite place to spend your summer afternoons once it is complete.

The Juliet Balcony

So famous is the scene that it actually became a part of accepted architecture both here in and Europe. A Juliet balcony is a small (usually very small, just big enough to fit one or two people) balcony that extends from a particular room in the house, often a bedroom.

A Juliet balcony is not intended to be a venue for barbecues or outdoor parties but instead a small extension into the outdoors that provides a quiet retreat for reading or merely admiring the scenery (or conversing with one's tormented lover if that's your thing). It is also a great way to bring the outdoors inside.

A balcony like this one is not hard for a good remodeling contractor or builder to construct nor is it the most expensive undertaking in the world. Adding a Juliet balcony can significantly add to your home's appeal and value, especially these days as it has become rather fashionable amongst the home buying set.

The average Juliet balcony is modeled after the one in the play – a short, narrow rectangle surrounded by some form of balustrade that is supported by plinths and opens almost immediately into the adjoining room through glass doors. There are plenty of variations though. Instead of stone balustrades, you could choose to install glass railing for a lighter, sleek appearance or make the sides from iron grates for an old world rustic and romantic look.

Whatever you decide your balcony addition will look like when it is finished obviously the most important thing is that it is well constructed. Take the time to find a pro who has experience in building these kinds of additions (not all of them are, even if they are used to building more traditional decks or porches) and can show you examples of their previous work. After all, nothing will kill that romantic balcony moment faster than the whole thing collapsing to the ground because something was just not done the right way.

Baby Gates Flexibility and Warning

Baby gates keep your babies and toddlers safe . But remember that they are not the only ones who will be using the baby gate. Older children as well as parents in the house will at some point need to pass these gates. That is why it is very important that you get a gate that is easy to open and close firmly. Do your best not to step over the gate, particularly when the youngster being protected is watching. You do not want the child to learn a bad habit.

Flexible Baby Gates.
When thinking of baby gates we usually imagine wood or metal barriers. Not all safety barriers are made out of these materials. Some are made from Plexiglas or high-strength fabrics. As an example, the Kiddy Guard safety barrier protects children up to the age of two.

Baby Gates can be used in doorways and stairways, and normally expands up to 51 inches. The Kiddy Guard fits inside a doorframe or between two walls and is retractable when not in use, making it quite a flexible barrier.

The hardware-mounted gates are attached with screws to walls and banisters. These gates typically open and close much like a door. This makes them more suitable for areas you'll be walking through frequently. They can be mounted between two walls, two banisters or a banister and a wall. Hardware-mounted gates are intended to be installed into a solid wood surface. If your doorway or opening is already framed in wood you can install the gate without any preparation. If not, you'll have to install a Gate Mounting Kit, obtainable where you buy baby gates.

Baby Gate Warning.
When looking for the right baby gate, it's vital to remember than some gates themselves are dangerous. As an example, accordion-style baby gates with large V-shaped openings along the top edge and diamond-shaped openings between the slats are a strangulation risk. Children who have tried crawling through these gates have died when their heads got trapped in the V-shaped or diamond-shaped openings. The hazardous accordion-style baby gates have not been sold since 1985, though you may still find them at yard sales or in thrift stores, so be alert!

Investing in Autographs – A Beginner's Guide

How many of us have at some time in the past met someone famous, but never asked for their autograph? Did you know that many famous peoples signatures can be worth hundreds of £ 's? so are you now thinking, perhaps I should have asked them after all?

My own collection started when I was just 14 years old, and today, 45 years later, I still collect, but now with my eye firmly on the investment value.

During those years we have seen the hobby of collecting autographs and the interest in 'celebrity' increase to a point where the crowds at a big film premier can be ten deep, many holding photos or books that they are hoping the stars of the film will sign for them. Some of those will be professional collectors, who are only interested in the profit to be made, as the market has increased tremendously over the last 15 years to over £ 20,000,000 in 2011

The value of some of these autographs has risen well above the rate of inflation of the time, and with interest rates now at an all time low (Dec 2011), it makes sense to look for alternative investments, and autographs is certainly one that should be considered.

Just ten years ago, you would have been able to buy a signed image of the first man to set foot on the moon, Neil Armstrong, for less than £ 300, but that same signed image now could well cost you over £ 2000 which is a massive increase in value in anyone's eyes.

The real investment potential comes when the demand for a signature increases, and sadly, that normally means when someone dies. At that point, supply stops, demand increases, and prices rise accordingly, and although that initial spike will drop after a short while and the price will level out, it will still be at a higher price than before their demise!

However, this kind of increase only happens with the more well known names that have achieved world wide fame for something significant (so you can forget Jedward!). Everest Conqueror Edmund Hilary's signature for example used to sell at around £ 15 before he passed away, but now you may need to perhaps pay £ 70 plus and they continue to rise in value.

Current names to invest in would include the UK's first female Prime Minster Margaret Thatcher, legend of the silver screen Christopher Lee, or any of the Apollo Astronauts, especially those who have walked on the surface of the moon or achieved any of the space firsts.

Look out for people that have really achieved something that has been recognised the world over, Roger Bannister and the first sub 4 minute mile for example. These can currently be found for often less than £ 30 but keep in mind the current price of Sir Edmund Hilary!

The value of a signature can vary greatly dependent on what the signature is on, the size of the item, condition, and of course if it is dedicated to you or someone else. Generally speaking signed photos are best, the larger the better, and remember that some dealers or collectors will only buy undedicated items, as these are much easier to sell. Condition is always important, and as with everything, the better condition it is in, the more its worth.

Authenticity is or course of paramount importance and you can help to protect yourself here by buying from known and established dealers. There are several well known associations that most good dealers will belong to, the most common being the UACC, but be sure that your dealer is indeed a UACC Registered Dealer and not simply a collector member! Anyone can join some of these associations, and the unscrupulous dealer will simply join as a member and use these new found 'credentials' to try and create an air of an established and knowledgable dealer.

Some associations such as AFTAL or PADA only accept established dealers, and have some very strict membership rules, and do not simply allow just anyone to join them. All good dealers who are members of any of these three associations will be clearly listed on their relevant websites, so do not take the dealers word for it that they are members, alway s check first! And if they are members of nothing? Well I will leave you to make up your own mind on that one! Just remember that if a sale goes wrong for any reason. you may find yourself on your own when trying to get a refund. If the dealer is a member of a recognised association, then you have a much better chance of resolving the problem.

There are also many books available to help with authentication and collecting, but there is nothing better than experience, and you can only get that by studying signatures, meeting celeb's and learning more about their signing habits, the paper and pens used etc. It can be a real minefield, but it can be very worthwhile.

One thing you need to be very careful with is 'provenance' as many well meaning people will tell you that this is all important, but its not, as most of the provenance offered with autographs is of no real value whatsoever, and is very rarely 'proof' of any authenticity. In fact most provenance is simply a story and no more. "My auntie got the autograph book signed when she worked as an usherette at the Woolwich Granada, when the Beatles played there in June 1963" Certainly the Beatles played that venue in 1963, but that snippet of information can easily be found on the internet or via the many books that document the Beatles career. And the autograph book that it's in? surely that proves the signatures must be genuine as it contains others minor names from the same period? Well that autograph book could have easily been purchased on eBay for £ 20 with the seller adding the Beatles signatures himself. It's a very simple scam that fools the uneducated every week. So education is the key here, and only experience can provide that education.

Real provenance for autographs can only mean a good and provable link from one good source to another, such as the item concerned having been through the hands of several known and knowledgeable dealers. Each of those dealers would have had the chance to check and double check any item for authenticity, and its doubtful that several would make the same error of perhaps passing on an Autopen signature for example as authentic. Watch out here though for auction lables on items as 'proof' that they have been through Christies or elsewhere, as sometimes these labels have simply been printed on a home computer and stuck on later.

There are also cases where an item may have some provenance because it has been signed at a paid signing arranged by a known dealer. Many stars have done this, and many well known people have attended autograph shows or events whereby they will sign items for money. However, you still need to be certain about these signings, as it has been known for the less scrupulous to simply buy one item at a signing, and then create 50 more when they get home, whilst using the photo they took at the signing to 'prove' that an item is authentic.

What about a COA? Any dealer worth his salt will tell you the same thing, they are worthless and only prove where and when you purchased the item, a COA will never prove an item is authentic, it can only say that its authentic, but if the dealer is a dud, then your COA is a dud too! Any good dealer will of course issue a COA or similar, and very importantly, this should always have their full contact details on, but never by an autograph just because it comes with a COA.

If you are simply looking for investment, and have little knowledge of autographs, then be sure to try and build a relationship with a dealer, this way you will learn a lot more, and you will often be offered items that perhaps are not in the dealers regular catalogue, as they become aware of the kind of thing that you may be interested in buying.

The autograph market is very much driven by nostalgia, and in turn demand. So look out for names that will remind people of a time, place or deed, whose names are known to people the world over, who will continue to be reminded of that name for many years to come. John Lennon is a perfect example, as his music is heard every day the world over, it reminds them of their wedding, first date, their youth, and so many important places and times, so his signature will always be right up there with the most investable autographs.

Some names rate better than others, but make the right choice, buy at the right price, and you could make a considerable profit when it comes to selling on.

So, all you need to be able to set up and have the sw-21 switch working are three lengths of coaxial cables plus your satellite dishes and your receiver. The first two coaxial cables will be attached between your satellite antenna's LNB ports and the "to dish" jacks of the switch. The other one will run from the "receiver" jack of your switch right into the "satellite in" jack of you FTA receiver.

Research If Unsure About the Set Up

If you are still not confident about how all these work together, you can also ask the person you bought your switch from. If you also purchased it online, your seller will most probably have a 24-hour customer service number that you can call so all your concerns can be given answer. You could also do some research online to see if what you are doing is right. There are many reliable sources on the Internet when it comes to setting up satellite systems, including adding on a combiner.

Sit Back and Enjoy Some Free TV

Once you have everything in place, you can start enjoying free TV viewing with the best reception you can get from different satellite locations.
