What is NLP?

NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming, is both art and science and can be described as an attitude and a methodology that leaves behind a trail of techniques.

NLP is an Attitude

Characterized by a sense of curiosity, experimentation and adventure NLP is the practical and pragmatic study of what produces all forms of human performance. It studies the ingredients of excellent performance, and seeks to provide ways of transferring the skills of excellence to others. The essence of NLP is expressed in the question “How is it possible to be outstanding?”

Based on the presupposition that all behavior has a structure which can be modeled, learned, taught, and changed (re-programmed).

NLP studies the structure of how humans think and experience the world. Obviously, the structure of something so subjective does not lend itself to precise, statistical formulae but instead leads to models of how these things work.

That leaves behind a trail of techniques…

This ‘trail of techniques’ (created through modeling) is what is commonly known as NLP. They enable practitioners to organize information and perceptions in ways that allow them to achieve outstanding results.

From these models, techniques for quickly and effectively changing thoughts, behaviors and beliefs that limit a person have been developed. Here’s another way of looking at it.

Our “Nervous System” through which experienced is received and processed via the five senses.

Our language and nonverbal communication systems through which are neural representations are coded, ordered, and given meaning.

The ability to organize our communication and neurological systems is to achieve specific desired goals and results.

NLP is:

• a set of procedures for personal development and performance improvement

• a model of effective communication

• is a way of modeling or developing a model of human behaviour

• a unique approach to personal change and development which combines:

• insight into how people think and behave

• dynamic personal change techniques

• advanced communication skills

How can you use it?

You can use it to get command over your feelings and control the way you think and therefore get better results.

And as you create empowering change in your mind you make a new Neuro-pathway, (like finding a short cut to a place you want to get to.) With a new pathway in your neurology- you can feel different, or think different about anything- get there quicker and faster. Just because you’ve taken the same pattern home, or the same route in your life for years doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it unless it’s working for you.

The best thing is that your brain learns things in seconds, and it can also unlearn if you choose you can kick open the door to the power of your unconscious. You can install the pathway to what you want -instead of using the old one. (Just like a short cut when you’ve found it you have more choices don’t you).

Yes and if that’s not enough change can happen rapidly if done by a skilled consultant or practitioner. In the late 70s this was all put together a number of techniques that made consistent breakthroughs was built a program called Nero Linguistic Programming It set of tools for success was born, it was popularized in the 80s by Tony Robins but many of these techniques begins with Milton Erikson. (Learn about him in the eBook from hypnosis.

7 Reasons Why Being the Best Is Not Good Enough

#1 – Not the way of the best.

If you set out to be the best, you may end up among the top performers – but believe me, you most likely would not be the best. By the simple logic that “a man’s reach should exceed his grasp” those who end up as the best often set out with a different objective. They hardly tell you that their aim was to be the ultimate “whatever” – and they prepared themselves accordingly. They only found themselves being labelled the best at the finish line when all their rivals were lost in the dust.

#2 – Change is unchanging.

All things in life change but change itself. A static condition does not exist in the universe – all things are becoming something else. When a condition appears static it is only because its rate of progress is equal to its rate of deterioration. So if you stop aspiring and relax because you are the best, you actually start regressing and would be in for a rude surprise at your next outing – when you may not even be among the top performers.

#3 – Pulling your punches.

If you think that being the best is good enough you may tend to tailor your efforts towards being just a little better than your perceived rivals. You may adopt a strategy similar to theirs rather than tasking your creativity to come up with something innovative. So even if you do come out as the best, you would not have stretched to bring out your best. Personal growth only occurs when we stretch our limits.

#4 – Your gift to the world.

A graver consequence of “pulling your punches” because you think being the best is good enough is that you may actually deprive the world of your own peculiar gift. Who knows, you may be a peculiar genius entrusted by Providence with what it takes to make scientific, artistic, cultural or other breakthroughs that would alleviate human suffering and increase human enjoyment of life. If you are content to be merely the best (rather than the ultimate) you would have frustrated the divine plan – and should be accountable!

Just imagine if Sir Roger   Bannister  had been content to be the best runner of his day rather than the one who shattered the myth that no man could run a mile in less than four minutes. Wasn’t that a victory for the human spirit and an inspiration to many?

#5 – Paradigm shifts.

It is human to strive to overcome obstacles to our happiness and liberty. History has shown that often a so-called paradigm shift (i.e. a profound change in our model or perception of reality) is necessary to surmount major limitations. Thinking that the best available is good enough hardly sustains the kind of curiosity, research and courtship of serendipity that has achieved and continues to beget the fuller, happier life for you and me.

#6 – Victim of history.

What we term “best” may actually be relative to our knowledge of history and current affairs. You may think you are the best because you are only aware of events in your locality or generation. A study of the history of other nations or other periods may reveal that you are far from being the best. So if you would find yourself any small place in history you had better go for broke, rather than rest on a mistaken confidence of prowess, ha ha.

#7 – Use it or lose it.

One last thought that gives the lie to the belief that being the best is good enough is the natural law that what is not exercised atrophies. Unless we constantly aspire to better ourselves mentally, materially and morally we would slowly but inevitable slide into mediocrity and ineptitude.

It is said that the greatest reward of service is the ability to render more service. Therefore, it is our privilege to glorify the creator and improve our world by making the most of our greatest gift of life. For to whom much has been given – from him much is expected.

Why You Should Switch to PVC Gutters

PolyVinyl Chloride gutters, better known as PVC gutters, are being recommended by any home improvement expert nowadays. They are inexpensive, flexible, very easy to install and most definitely will not rust.

PVC is also very durable. Being light, flexible and strong makes it very well-suited for use in colder temperatures that receive plenty of snowfall. And since they are also water-resistant, getting PVC gutters is just like getting rust free guttering. Standing water can cause metal guttering to rust through, causing holes to form. These holes usually become the cause of damage to homes, even flooding within the house.

The main reason why a person should consider switching to PVC is due to its strength. Since PVC is made from molded plastic, that only means that the gutters are formed as one continuous unit. Scratched paint or corrosion on welded seams won’t be a problem anymore. Snow, ice or other loads won’t have that much effect on plastic gutters due to the characteristics that plastic has versus its metal alternative. Ladders will not dent the guttering and blemishes can’t be visible on the surface. Because of having rust-free guttering, you can be guaranteed of that strength.

Another reason is because PVC gutters are flexible. Unlike its metal counterpart, PVC will not lose its shape even when it bows slightly. Metal gutters are prone to bending, twisting and denting. When they experience any one of the three mentioned, the effects on the gutters will stay visible while you can prevent this with PVC gutters. Color and appearance are also easily maintained since they don’t fade.

Installation is also a cinch. PVC is lightweight and its sections also snap together quickly. Using the right tools, you can even do it yourself, therefore eliminating high expenses. You need to be skillful on gutter installation regarding the proper mounting and pitch, but since PVC is easier to work with, you shouldn’t have too much of a hard time. But just to be safe, and if you are not confident with your do-it-yourself skills, calling a professional to do it for you is a healthy option.

Choosing a contractor

Just because Contractor A has more good reviews than Contractor B doesn’t mean that you can skip out on doing your own research and it most definitely does not mean that Contractor B is not doing a great job at PVC guttering. Read carefully on the reviews, and contact the contractor if you need to. Find out which contractor best suits the needs of your home. Don’t be afraid to contact them for any inquiries.

Alternative Ways to Treat ADHD

There are alternative ways to treat ADHD. When I began learning how to work with clients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, I decided to take the ADDCA course for one year because I personally am not diagnosed with ADHD. I wanted to know how to work with adults, what to ask about, what to be sensitive about, and how to move the coaching process forward. Having been a life coach at that time, I wanted to sense and understand the differences in the coaching process between what I considered regular life coaching and ADHD Coaching. I was very pleased with the ADDCA curriculum, teaching, and results.

For about three years (2004-2007), I coached people in conjunction with Neurofeedback. “Neurofeedback is a technique in which we train the brain to help improve its ability to regulate all bodily functions and to take care of itself when the brain is not functioning well”. What that means, in practice for ADHD, is that you would put two electrodes on the brain, following a planned protocol for ADHD. The client would play a video game instead of manipulating the video game by using a controller in his/her hand. The client would play the game by using the brain waves in their head. If the brainwaves were in the targeted “beta wave zone,” then the game continued. If the beta waves manifested, then the game would slow down or stop.

I believed that based on the research and the encouragement of many people in the neurofeedback community, we could see a change in people in conjunction with medication. The other clinicians related case presentations of many clients who did exceptionally well and some of them reduced or went off their medications.

I did not personally see the extraordinary results of neurofeedback. There were minor gains, but not major results. The cost of neurofeedback is expensive because one has to be available to do 40-60 sessions twice a week at a cost from $80.00 to $150.00 per session, and the bulk of the sessions are not covered by any insurance. Some psychotherapists I understood would code the session like regular therapy, but I wouldn’t because it’s unethical.

While doing Neurofeedback, I also began developing three other methods of ADHD coaching using alternative means that relied upon the mind/body connection. I began understanding that placing electrodes on a person’s head meant they had very little to do in their own treatment and a combination of coaching and alternative treatment, available to all coaches, would be worth exploring.

The first method was using the Tibetan and Crystal Bowls in accord with the chakras. The bowls relieve anxiety and stress. We know that many people with ADHD can have a dual diagnosis with anxiety. When people learn to play the bowls, they can calm their mind/body connection. Once they induce a relative calm, they are able to be coached. They can pay attention to what needs to be accomplished in life. The bowls seem to affect the solar plexus chakra where anxiety is generally located in the body.

The second method involves knowing energy technology. Instead of using electrodes and electronic games, I developed a way to clear out the “cobwebs” in a person’s brain. Some people call it “brain brightening.” I think of it as a method to clear out the gunk that accumulates in the areas of focus and attention. Some of the problem is chemical, some electrical and some perceptual.

At a recent International Coach Federation Conference, I worked with a man who was having difficulties remembering what to do. I call my method brain energy integration, http://www.brainenergyintegration.com. I asked him to consider that while I was putting energy into his frontal lobe, he was to imagine that there were windshield wipers pushing away the dust and dirt that didn’t allow him to see what was going on in his life. The wipers were working on his frontal lobe metaphorically. The result was positive.

The “how” of doing this method is about being trained in energy work and being able to generate heat and vibrations from the palm chakras. The hands are put around the client’s head (not touching the skin or the hair) and the client’s brain is heated up. The head and vibrations stimulate the frontal and pre-frontal lobes, of the brain, and appear to assist the client perceptually to sharpen and focus the persons attention.

The third method that I am using is using the chakras and life energy jewelry (www.lifeenergyjewelry.com). Most jewelry is not charged with many frequencies to help protect a person from:

o environmental hazards, such as a cell phone

o sitting in front of a computer screen or large television for a period of time

o the mp3 player

o fluorescent lights in offices and other low level electrical inputs into the physical system of a person.

My belief is that when low level electrical inputs move into the system, it triggers off many ADHD problems. Charged jewelry can relieve some of those problems. I have muscle tested hundreds of people using their cell phones, with and without charged jewelry, and almost 99% of those tested show arm weakness holding their cell phones with the other hand and then strength when they wear a charged piece of jewelry or a charged coin. In addition, the jewelry can be charged individually when working with a client to activate the frontal and pre-frontal lobes so that attention and focus are more available.

Become a Homepreuner With Freelance Writing

Home Business, also referred to as Home based Business, is a sort of business which one can operate from the comforts of their homes. The main feature, or should we say the main difference in a home based business is that it usually consists of an extremely small workforce who are mostly family members and it lacks any major type of frontage or advertising. While home businesses were initially frowned upon, their credibility as well as prospects has risen tremendously in the past few years. Moreover, thanks to the enormous leaps of technology and the internet revolution, the way these home based businesses are conducted have been completely revolutionized. The growth of internet technology has also empowered these small businesses to be able to compete with their bigger competitors for a part of the market share.

One of the most popular home based businesses is freelance writing. Starting off as a writer hardly costs a penny and it can also flourish to become an extremely illustrious and profitable career if the writer makes the right moves and goes about his stuff seriously. All one needs to become a writer is a decent command of the language, basic writing skills, a PayPal or Bank Account, an internet connection and sufficient time. Moreover, the writer can also strive to specialize in a niche writing style such as blog writing, academic writing, technical writing, web content writing and travel writing.

The best way to start off as a writer is by starting off as a part timer. This allows the newbie writer to get a feel of the industry and also to judge his/ her capabilities from an external point of view. One can always shift to full-time writing once they get a hang of the demands of the industry and also become confident of delivering high quality work day in and day out.

Another important facet for any work from home writer or freelance writer is marketability. In today’s competitive world, it is just not enough for an individual to have the skills to write and deliver excellent articles. The writer must also lay immense stress on his/ her marketability. Without basic marketing and selling prowess, the individual would not last in the business for a day. It is also important to keep in mind that the writers should follow up on prospective work and leads every day, irrespective of the fact whether they have projects in their hands or not. This is mainly because it helps the writers to achieve both their goals, which is to market themselves and to have regular and quality work.

Finally, there is no shame in telling people that one is a writer. While it may sound a bit lowly for a few of the newcomers, the lifestyles of those who have actually made it through the initial struggles speaks for themselves. Furthermore, with the ever-increasing demand for websites and with more and more companies going digital, the industry as a whole shall never face a shortage in demand.

Spain’s Top Ten Attractions

Spain is absolutely bursting with places to see and things to do. These are my top ten must-see attractions.

The ‘Red Palace’ is one of Spain’s most important historical monuments and tourist attractions. Having been under both Christian and Moslem control, The Alhambra has benefitted and blossomed as each of its owners has added more buildings. The oldest part of the Alahambra is the Alcazaba, which was built upon the ruins of a 9th century fort. The world famous gardens are unbelievably beautiful.

It’s a Christian church, but you wouldn’t believe it at first glance; that’s because it used to be a Mosque. The pillars and arches you have to pass through to reach the Catholic shrines are wonderfully Arabic. The building dates back to 796 AD. If you’re within 200 miles, go and see it; you won’t be disappointed.

Revelling under Gaudi’s influence, Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Both modern and historical; Spanish yet fiercely Catalan. Connected by the high speed train and excellent air links, this city is magnificent and accessible.

This has to be one of the craziest fiestas ever conceived. It is simply one giant tomato fight, taking place every August and transforming the normally sleepy village of Bunyol into a mad house. The population of 9,000 swells to 30,000 during the festival, so book early if you want to go, as every hotel and hostel puts up the ‘no vacancies sign months before the event. An hourly train service runs from Valencia, but take a change of clothes if you intend using it.

One of the wonderful, quirky features that Spain can boast is sunny beaches and skiing. From the Sierra Nevada Mountains, you can be on the beach sun-bathing within an hour, so it’s skiing in the morning and water skiing in the afternoon if you fancy it.

The American architect Frank O. Gehry designed this impressive structure. It sits on a 32,500 square metre site in the heart of Bilbao and has become a major icon of the city. The structure is an unusual amalgamation of blocks and curves covered by titanium scales. The vast La Salve Bridge actually passes through the building.

Able to hold 6000 spectators, the Roman Theatre is one of the premier sights of Merida. The nearby Anfiteatro was the site of battles between Roman gladiators and could hold as may as 15,000 people. The political and cultural centre of Hispania Rome, Merida was conquered by the Muslims in 713 A.D. After a 500 year period of decline the city was virtually abandoned until the 1500’s.

Somewhat of a hidden gem, Cuenca will leave a huge impression on you. Amongst its many impressive features are the ‘Hanging Houses’ which cling precariously to the side of the gorge. The Cathedral of Cuenca was built in the early 13th Century on the site of a former mosque. The   facade  had to be rebuilt in the early 20th Century after the collapse of the Giraldillo Tower.

But preferably in Andalucía. There’s nothing quite like enjoying tapas with a glass of wine in the sunshine. The history of Tapas can be traced back to the Moorish presence in Spain between the 7th and 15th centuries AD. The Moors had a love for small dishes with exotic ingredients such as peppers, almonds, garlic and saffron. This influenced a cross over to Spanish culture and has become one of Spain’s most renowned culinary traditions.

It’s well worth the time and effort to visit one of Spain’s numerous white villages. The south of Spain is littered with these pueblos, some more accustomed to tourism than others. Bear in mind that even the busiest of villages will close up at two o’clock for a siesta. Of course the bars and cafes will remain open, so you’ll just have to chill with the rest of them.

Spain has much more to offer than the suggestions I have made, and as I said, this is just my opinion. The thing to do is get out there yourself and try it; you’ll have so much fun proving me wrong.

Copper Tubing Coils

Common Applications:

Copper tubing is used extensively in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration industry (ACR). Copper has a high heat conductivity, which makes it quite ideal for heat transfer applications such as Air Conditioning. It also has the heat transfer effectiveness nearly eight times that of aluminum tubing. For some applications, heat transfer fins are not even necessary. In this case, special arrangements of tubing called tubing coils are needed to save space and maximize the heat transfer rate. Oftentimes, an arrangement in a repeated S-shape will yield a pancake coil, which allows air to move more easily through the coil in order to remove the heat.

The best coils are constructed from a single bent piece of continuous copper tubing. Fittings are certainly acceptable to join multiple copper tubing lengths together, but for high pressure applications like Air Conditioning, a much tighter connection may be required between tubing lengths than just fittings alone. If multiple lengths are required, soldering and brazing may be necessary.

Brazing and Soldering for Extended Lengths:

Soldering involves a significant amount of heat aimed at the fitting against the tube. Heat must be evenly distributed about the circumference of the tube and the fitting, allowing for a consistent join. Combining fittings with tubing by brazing rather than simple thread joining renders the tube contiguous and reduces the risk of leaks. If the coils being used are very long, it is best to use true contiguous tube while avoiding fittings altogether in order to reduce fluid and air drag inside and outside the tube.

Benefits of Using Copper Tubing In Your Coils:

Copper tubing is considered one of the best options for a plethora of applications because of its various benefits, including long term performance, corrosion resistance, large availability of fittings and connectors, and its relatively simple requirements for recycling profitably.

How To Start Your Car With Your Cell Phone

How to start your car from your phone?

In this article I will show you how to start your car from your cell phone. I already had a car starter installed in my truck years ago but the range was terrible and you had to press the button for a precise amount of time, otherwise it would just ignore it. So instead of pressing a button all day long from 10 feet away I decided I wanted to start my truck from anywhere in the world! I built this a few years ago, and some newer products have come out that integrate cell phones with vehicles, but this still works for older vehicles, and can also be adapted to many other kinds of appliances as well.

This isn’t just limited to vehicles. Many DIY types have attached these to their cabin’s furnace, aircraft pre-heaters, irrigation pumps on farms, servers, routers, and all sorts of other appliances and electronics.

Parts required:

-GSM activated relay. This device will contain a SIM chip that can connect to the GSM cell phone network. It’s relays must be able to be activated by phone call or text message. In my first build I used a GSM-AUTO, but found a cheaper alternative on eBay for the Quad Band version (North America) or the Dual Band (Europe, Asia, etc.). it costs around $150 which has 7 relays. Another alternative is to purchase from the online store called Relay Supply. One relay is controlled by phone call and the rest are activated by text message. The relays can be set as either momentary or latched.

-Car Starter Key Fob (the remote control thing on your keychain).

-12V DC cigarette power cord

-Small plastic bag or ESD bag.

-A few wires.

-A few screw drivers

-Soldering Iron

Step 1:

Begin with canabalizing the key fob. Instead of consuming one of my existing remotes, I turned to eBay. I found the model number of mine on the back. Its an Auto Start 05-A433. I entered this in on eBay and up popped a bunch of used key fobs that are compatible with my system. WARNING: Some of these remotes may look exactly like the one you want but they come in many revisions. Some revisions are not compatible with others. If you are not sure which to buy on eBay, try buying one new online.

You will have to sync your remote with your car starter. As all car starters and car starter installations are different, I won’t go into detail on how to do this. Whoever installed your car starter can usually do it for a fee but I strongly recommend you Google for the models manual as its a rather simple process. It usually involves either depressing the hood pin in a particular fashion (a pin that detects if your hood is popped), or pressing a button on the side of the remote starters brain under your dash.

Now remove any screws from the case and pry it apart. The circuit inside and battery are not secured in any way and came out easily.

Step 2:

Find the button that corresponds to the “start” button on your remote. Some remotes can require a combination of buttons to be pressed in a certain order, or multiple buttons pressed at the same time. This can be accomplished by soldering up two connections that are both wired through the relay (for multiple button presses) or a capacitor can be added to time delay one of buttons.

The contact in the center of this picture is already powered. When a user pushes the button, the connection is made between the interlocking contacts (they look like interlocking letter E’s) and the starter signal is sent. We will be soldering one wire to each corner of the contact. This takes a great deal of precision to ensure that you do not join the two contacts.

Step 3:

Next, solder a wire onto each connector that supplies power to the remote. Color coding the wires is a good idea. This remote takes a small but powerful 12V battery. Note that if your remote can not handle this high of voltage (some cigarette lighters can pump out around 15V so be sure that the remote can handle this), you will have to continue using the existing battery.

Step 4:

The GSM Relay has 7 relays. The first is controlled by phone call. When called, the relay will open for a set amount of time that can be programmed into the device by text message. Mine is set for 1200 milliseconds.

I would recommend wiring the power cables into the device first. Take the 12V DC cigarette power cord and strip the ends of the cables and slide the cable through one of the ports on the side of the device. These ports can be tightened to ensure the device is weather proof. I fed the wire through the port closest to the power connector, but if your wires are higher gauge this can be difficult. Consider running the wire through the far port. The remote key fob will remain inside the device and its wires will not be run through on of the ports.

GND (ground) is clearly marked as the top most connector. Wrap the negative (black) wire from your remote key fob around the negative cigarette power connector wire and feed it into the GND connector. Screw it down tightly to ensure a solid connection.

Wrap the positive (red) wire from your remote key fob around the positive cigarette power connector wire and insert it into the +12V connector on the GSM device. Screw it down tightly and test both wires for looseness.

Step 5:

Next, run the wires from our “start” button into the relay controlled by phone calls. Each relay is simply a pair, with the first relay being controlled by phone call, and the rest being controlled by text message. Push the wires into each connector and screw them down tightly. Remember, the remote will reside within the GSM devices case, so do not run the wire through one of the case ports.

Once this is done, consider sliding a small plastic bag or ESD bag over the remote key fob to prevent any shorts.

Step 6:

Slide back the metal bracket covering the SIM chip holder to allow it to pop up. Insert the SIM chip as shown and press it down again, securing the metal bracket to hold it down.

The GSM device has 3 LED’s on it:

-One for network connectivity. This LED won’t turn on for the first 10 seconds, and then will blink quite fast when the device initializes. The rapid blinking means its searching for a network to connect to. Once it establishes a connection (this will only occur if the SIM chip is a valid one and the device is in GSM range), the light will blink much slower, indicating that the connection has been made.

-One for indicating power status (blinks regularly to indicate it is powered).

-One for indicating TX or RX. Whenever the device receives or sends a text message/phone call, this light will flash.

Connect the device to your vehicles cigarette lighter! The power LED should be flashing, as should the network LED. Once the device achieves network connectivity, the flashing of the network LED should slow down.

Step 7:

Programming the device is simple. I have attached a PDF to this Instructable containing the instructions. To quickly add a phone number to the list of valid phone numbers that can call the device (also called a white list), send the following text message to the device:

PWD is the password (which can be changed), and WHL01 is the first position in the white list. If you wanted to add a second number you would use WHL02, etc. and so forth.

The phone number to be entered should contain the area code and regular phone number with no dashes. Occasionally the international country code must be prepended to the start of the number, but try without this first.

Call the device and the first relay should loudly clack open and closed for 300 milliseconds (default length of time). The device will never pick up the phone call; rather it merely checks whether that phone number is in its white list, and then either ignores it or acknowledges it. It usually activates itself on the second ring and causes you to hear two rings to occur quickly one after another when it activates.

To update the length of time to one second, use this command:

Figure out how long you normally have to press the start button for to start your vehicle and then program the relay to open for the proper amount of time.

Step 8:

Time to test our device out. Call the device and watch as the TX/RX LED activates. The relay should loudly flip open, and if you have a small LED on your key fob like mine, you should see this glowing as the “start” button is pressed by our relay. If the timing is correct and the key fob is pressed, your vehicle should start!

The parts I used can be obtained from Rellay Supply. The direct link for the 7 switch device: GSM Remote Control Relay.

Beginner’s Guide: How to Change Your Car Oil

Most car manufacturers and many car maintenance guides advise car owners to change their motor oil and oil filter about every 3,000 miles- or at least every three months. In doing so, the car’s life will be extended and it can keep the car in top running condition. Although oil changes can be a very dirty and daunting job at times, it is still an important maintenance task that must be performed regularly.

If you own a car, you might discover that your car is in need of an oil change. Changing your car’s oil and sending it to a professional auto repair shop can take a toll on your finances. Thankfully, you can try doing it on your own. With a bit of planning, information, and good execution, you can change your car’s oil on your own. Remember though that the tips listed below are for information purposes only. If you don’t want to risk damaging your vehicle, it is best to let a professional do the job.

DIY Oil Change: Basic Things Your Need

  • Socket wrench– This is used to take out the drain plug
  • Jack and stands– Used to raise the car so you can work underneath it.
  • Oil filter or metal strap wrench
  • Oil filter– This collects the impurities found in the oil. There are two types of oil filters namely, spin-on and cartridge.
  • Motor oil– This is known as the lifeblood of the car. The amount of motor oil will range from 3.5-8 quarts for gasoline engines, and 4-15 quarts for diesel engines.
  • Funnel– This helps filling the crankcase much easier.
  • Rags and paper towels– These items are for clean up

Important Reminders Before Getting Started

Before you start changing your car oil, you must first consider this important reminder. There are some car owners who like to start their engine or drive around the neighborhood before they change the oil. This is because hot oil drains faster. Remember though that working with hot oil can cause serious injuries, such as burns to your hands and face. With that said, be extra cautious when you use the hot oil method. This method is also not recommended for beginners.

Easy Steps To Changing Your Car Oil

  1. Park your vehicle on a flat surface. If there is enough room beneath your car slide under it. If not, you can jack up the car using the jack stands.
  2. Once the vehicle is properly supported and secure, you can now crawl underneath your vehicle and look for the drain plug. The drain plug is located near the front area of the vehicle. Place a newspaper or drop cloth around the area to absorb any spills.
  3. You must also place a pan under the plug. Use your socket wrench to loosen the plug. Turn it counterclockwise and then twist to remove it by hand. Allow half of the oil to drain completely. After doing so, replace the plug using the socket wrench.
  4. After all these, you must then locate the oil filter. Again, place the oil pan beneath it. Slip the oil filter wrench around the oil filter and make sure it is secure, then give a tug counterclockwise. Once the oil filter is loosened, twist it by hand to take it out.
  5. Remember to rub some new oil around the rubber gasket before you install the new filter. In doing so, you will prevent any problems in the long run. Screw the new filter onto the filter pipe and tighten it.
  6. After following the steps above, you can now crawl out from under your car and open the hood. Take out the oil filter cap, and then place the funnel inside the hole. Fill it with as much amount of motor oil as your manufacturer’s manual recommends. Replace the oil filler cap afterwards.
  7. Write down the date and mileage. This will help you remember when you need to change the oil again.

1. He/She is telling me the truth?

2. He/She cares about me?

3. He/She can and will help me?

How did you do?

In this episode you will learn additional steps in perfecting an effective  opening  sales conversation.

Remember back when you were in English class? You wrote a short story and were told in no uncertain terms “Show don’t tell!” In your  opening  sales conversations are you telling people that you are telling the truth as in:

“…our corporate mission statement is based on trust and integrity…”

“…we pride ourselves on open communication with our customers…”

or do you show you are telling the truth like Tom did when he said:

“Hello, my name Tom Smith and I would love to sell you our product!”

Your next mission, after having shown that you are telling the truth, like Tom did, is to show you care. In Episode one of Effective  Opening  Sales Conversations we ended by saying that you would be able to use this:

“Thank you for calling XYZ investment corporation, where your financial future is our life. This is Mary. How may I direct your call?”

to help you show that you care.

Before we say

“Hello, my name Tom Smith and I would love to sell you our product!

We might want to say,

“Well thanks for answering Mary of XYZ Investment Corporation, where my financial future is your life” (pause here for amused chuckle, we hope!) and I don’t know if you need to direct my call or to who. You see, my name Tom Smith and I would love to sell you our product!”

How do you demonstrate that you care about someone?

You use the other person’s name.

You actively listen to what the other person has to say well enough to paraphrase it back to them.

And maybe, if you are good at it, you use a little Dorky humor.

How many of you have been the screener or gatekeeper? In days of yore, a huge brokerage firm that shall remain nameless, and has as its symbol a male bovine, used to have its rookie brokers, before they were licensed, cover the switchboard. This was a wonderful practice cutting a few huge egos down to size and it very quickly taught the rookies how the place worked.

What have you demonstrated to your sales coach (the receptionist/gatekeeper) who knows more about your possible future customer than the CFO?

That you care about her, somewhat, and she (usually a her)

That you are listening

You are telling the truth

You don’t take yourself too seriously.

You did all of this by showing, not telling, and you did it in about sixteen seconds.

Now “My name Tom Smith and I would love to sell you our product!” probably won’t end up being what we say-it’s a little raw. What about something like.

“My name is Tom Smith, from Super Genius Computers, and I am calling to sell you our wonderful computer system designed especially for retail brokerage companies, So your computer never crashes again, and I become so rich I actually need your services.”

A word of caution. You might actually make calls for a business, a good business or you wouldn’t be calling for them, that has a bad rap. Or your business type might be bombarding your market with calls. In that case your  opening  statement would be

“My name is Tom Smith and I am calling to sell you our wonderful computer system designed especially for retail brokerage companies, So your computer never crashes again, and I become so rich I actually need your services.”

We coach a lot of people who sell financial services and insurance products as part of helping their customers. Sometimes their potential customers are so inundated with calls that if they hear the word “financial” or the word “insurance” they hang up mentally and many times physically.

Would we always identify ourselves? Yes. If you are not on the do not call list, think about the calls you get at home from dodgy businesses.

Don’t they all start something like. “I’d like to speak to Mr. Smith.” Why? Because if they said “This is Joe the bad sales person from cdf sleazy marketing company,” you would immediately say no thanks “adios!”

If you are not so proud of yourself and your company that you won’t shout who you are and why you are calling from the rooftops, you should change who you are and get a different line of work.

Next episode will cover a few more  openings-those  parts of the  opening  sales conversation that gain interest, especially a few in heavily regulated industries like stocks and bonds. Why? Because in those industries you want to make sure you are not trying to sell anything on your initial call, or even give the appearance of selling something.

And we will teach you how to show that you can and will help your future customer.

Action Items: Perfecting an effective  opening  sales conversation

1. Prove to yourself that you show your customers you tell the truth in your first few words.

2. Prove to yourself that you show your customers you care about them through your first few words-hint: Have you said something to them or responded to them in a way that told them that you were paying attention to what they said either on the phone or over the desk or on their website, advertising, or collateral material?

Until next time, thanks for reading and happy selling!

Acne Holes – How to Remove Them For Good

Acne holes are pits, craters or scars left over by the acne. While acne generally does not cause any scars, it is our irresistible temptation to pick or squeeze the pimples with our infected nails that does the damage. The situation can, thankfully, be redeemed by taking the following steps and you can get back your silky smooth skin once again.

1. Wash your face every night before you go to bed. Use exfoliating scrub when you take the bath. It will remove the top layers of your skin and help your skin cells to regenerate. You should also use toner and moisturizers after the bath. Your acne holes will gradually vanish.

2. Do not expose your skin to sun as it may further damage your acne holes. Always use broad spectrum sunscreen especially when going out in the sun as its rays may weaken your skin’s ability to heal fast.

3. Use bleaching cream on your black looking acne holes. It will lighten their black colour and they will look like the skin around them.

4. Sometimes, simple home remedies work wonders. Dry the orange peel and grind into a paste by using a few drops of water. Apply this paste on the acne affected areas. Allow the paste to stay for some time before you wash it away. You may also try cucumber juice on your face. It is very likely to remove pigmentation marks and pimples.

5. If these home remedies do not work, it is better to consult a dermatologist about retinoid creams. They have vitamin A, which helps the skin to generate new cells. They replace the older damaged cells and repair the skin fast.

6. The dermatologist may apply chemical peels on the acne holes. The chemical peels burn away the top layer of the skin. When the burnt layer heals up, you get new skin without any holes.

7. You may also consider going for laser therapy, which burns away the upper layer of the damaged skin and the new skin appears once again. Laser therapy is rather an expensive and painful treatment.

For Excellent Task Lighting Consider A Z-Bar LED Desk Lamp

A z-bar LED desk lamp is ideal for task  lighting  in many situations. It is efficient in many ways and will provide more than adequate illumination for just about any work you may do at the office or at home. It also comes in a variety of colors, such as silver, black, red, white or yellow, for use in a home office or a child’s room. Products are found in many online stores as well as through a few retailers.

The light bar is about the length of an average arm, so it can illuminate a large work surface. It uses about 65 small bulbs through the entire length of the arm. and is completely movable, with a 360 degree pivoting ball and socket. The weighted base allows it to rest with stability on any work surface.

There is also a non-lighted section that connects the base to the arm, which is also completely movable. This allows the user to illuminate a work surface or change the position for putting away files in a cabinet with ease.

The z-bar LED desk lamp has many advantages. It provides a more uniform illumination that is much easier on the eyes than a single incandescent or halogen bulb. Because it is much softer and covers a larger area, there is less eye strain that can lead to headaches and burning eyes. The new model comes in warm, daylight and bright light options. It also has a built in dimming feature.

The product is more energy efficient than other types of bulbs, so it can be used for an extended period without worrying about energy consumption. There is no need to rely on overhead lights for many tasks, such as writing or computer word processing. This light is also stylish. The sleek steel base and arm will look good in the office, no matter how it is adjusted or turned. Because the arm is no wider than the thumb, it takes up little space and allows for more room to get tasks done.

Prices for this item can vary, from around $135 to $170, depending on where it is purchased and the size. There is a mini version that includes an arm of the same length, with a shorter extension from the base. Either product will work for a variety of purposes. A z-bar LED desk lamp is a great  lighting  solution for someone who wants to work at night but does not want to keep others awake. Its bulbs concentrate on the work surface, rather than the surrounding walls and furniture.

Radiant Barrier Insulation

Radiant barrier insulation is similar to foil insulation in that the primary objective of this sort of insulation is to reflect sun heat away from the targeted insulated area. Radiant barrier insulation is typically lightweight, and anything weighting more than say 5 times the weight of aluminum should be considered heavy.

The radiant barrier should be installed on the outside of an insulating stack, in order to prevent reflecting heat back through other layers of insulation, which then would only serve to trap the heat inside the targeted insulated area.

They are different from fireproof barriers by their fundamental objectives. They, again, reflect heat away from the insulated area, whereas fireproof barriers try to stop a fire from spreading across the protected barrier-typically a wall.

Though radiant barriers are typically fire retardant, they don’t necessarily qualify as so called fireproofing or fireproof materials. It is for this reason that you should explicitly fireproof an area, on top of merely adding fire retardant materials such as radiant Stopper materials.

Same goes for sound proofing. Especially in close urban quarters such as New York City, San Francisco (California), or even down Seattle, although radiant barriers carry similar soundproofing characteristics to its materials, it isn’t a proper soundproofing material, when used solely and exclusively just for that purpose.

When shopping for radiant barrier materials, expect to pay about $20.00 to $80 per 4- by 6 foot areas. This price is typical, as are the dimensions. Like aluminum foils, the radian barrier materials come in rolls, and are very easy to pick up in small cars, if that’s all you have to use to pick up your home improvement supplies.

A popular brand is Ultra Touch; it’s a lightweight aluminum, and is said to reflect up to 97% of radiant heat. This is often advertised and in fact standard. What must be realized about this percentage is that it is actually a range; and the typical range is 30 to 97%, 97 being the absolute highest and most heat that can be reflected by the material.

Several theories exist about whether reflect sort of materials it should be placed anywhere other than the so called membrane of the insulated area-the perimeter where the heat is to enter or attack the insulated area. Some say it’s redundant and indeed useless to install radiant barriers between, say, an attack floor and a top floor ceiling. The idea is that whatever heat is going to make it to the attic floor should not be made to reflect back into the attic to keep the lower floor cooler, as this will work to just heat the attic unnecessarily, by trapping that heat in between two-a top and bottom-radiant barrier.

An opposing idea is that this is effectual and effective, it just needs to be done about a space that is large enough to warrant a so called sandwich. The idea is that if the attic has large windows that lets significant sun light in, then radiant barriers across the top floor ceiling just underneath the attic floor would be warranted. The radiant barrier wouldn’t be warranted in such situations where the floors were open, as they are in loft style buildings and units. In this situation, The solutions are available, but are less effective, since the insulating space is fundamentally and essentially shared by each room.

Why You Need Fireproof Safes?

One of the best investments you can make for your home or business is the purchase of a  fireproof  safe. The purchase will save you money since you will not have to pay for safety deposit box at the bank or waste time travelling to the bank.

You can use the safe to store passports, social security cards, jewelry and important documents like you vehicle’s title. You can get a safe in many different sizes, shapes and colors, you can get a light one that weighs as little as 14 pounds or one that is over 100 pounds.

If you just want to store cash or small items or you just need a coin box for an event you can get by with just a small box. If you are thinking about storing documents, jewelry and other items, you might need a slightly larger box. When you are buying a safe you need to consider what size and weight you need and how convenient it is to use. Some safes are easier to use than others.

This might seem like a bonus but it also means that if the safe is stolen, it can also be easily opened. The safe should be hard to open so that even if it does get stolen it can’t be broken into. You will also want a safe that is fire and water proof, not simply resistant. If you have a fire, water will be used to put it out, so your safe should be able to withstand both.

Large safes have an anchoring hole that allows it to be bolted to the wall or floor so it can never be removed. A safe like this is good for a basement or closet and will hold all your valuables. Smaller  fireproof  safes will keep everything safe and dry and should have a handle so they are easier to move around. If you get a safe with a combination lock, make sure it has a combination back-up in case you lose the key.
