Flat Screen TV Wall Bracket

The main advantage of LCD and Plasma TV’s over older televisions is of how much thinner and lighter they are. Being so much lighter means that they can be mounted on a wall using a wall bracket or wall mount. Mounting a TV on a wall looks great and takes up much less room than using a TV cabinet.

There are 3 main types of wall brackets that you can used to mount a flat screen TV.

Fixed Wall Mounts – Fixed brackets are the easiest type of mount to install and are also the least expensive. They are designed for flat screen TV’s that are to be fixed parallel to the wall straight in front of the seating area. As this type of mount cannot be adjusted after installation it is very important to that it is placed on the wall at the right height and the right angle for optimum viewing from the viewing area. It is also important to ensure that there is no glare on the screen from the lighting in the room.

Tilting Wall Mounts – Tilting brackets are very similar to fixed brackets except the TV can be tilted up and down on its horizontal axis. This type of mount is most useful in the situation where the TV is not on the same level as the seating or viewing area, when this occurs the image quality can appear to be poor. If you use a tilting mount the TV screen can be tilted to an angle where there is perfect picture quality for the viewers. There is a hinge style mechanism in the bracket which allows the screen to be tilted up and down, however is can only be tilted so much so it still important to consider the positioning of the TV on the wall.

Articulated Wall Mount – Brackets which are articulated offer the most versatility in positioning a flat screen tv to the wall. The mount has a folding arm style mechanism which is made up of several joints connected together. This style of brackets means that the TV can be pulled away from the wall, it can be moved from side to side and also up and down. It is really useful if you are trying to position the TV in a corner or an awkward space in the room, or if you want to continually reposition your viewing area.

Each style of bracket has its advantages and disadvantages, the articulated wall mount is probably the most popular due to its flexibility in positioning the TV, but it can be the most time consuming to install and often tends to be the most expensive. In general wall mounts can be purchased for anywhere between $40 to $300.

Don’t Keep Your Goals and Dreams to Yourself

We all have certain goals and dreams, but we often keep them to ourselves. Here are three great reasons why you should share them out loud:

1. Feedback:

First off, when we share our goals and dreams with others we solicit their feedback about them. This isn’t always helpful, of course, but it certainly can be. People often have very good ideas if we give them a chance. They might have a resource we could use to help get us closer to the goal, or they might have a suggestion that might make it easier to attain.

Even the negative feedback we receive can be of great help. I’ve known many people who did something because they were told they couldn’t: someone’s negative feedback caused a sense of anger that spurred them to succeed.

I also have a personal example of this: I had written an article recently about taking action, and about how I had left the success of my coaching business to chance for too long. What I didn’t write in that article, though, was that a big catalyst for my renewed action was actually a past mentor’s feedback that I was more suited to “getting a job” than trying to build a business.

I didn’t care for that feedback, to say the least, but I’m glad that she gave it to me. The anger I felt from it fueled me to put everything I had into my business – pretty much to prove her wrong.

2. Clarity:

The second good reason for sharing your goals and dreams out loud is that doing so fosters clarity. Our goals and dreams tend to stay very vague when they’re trapped inside our heads; but the act of telling someone about these goals and dreams means first having to make sense of and articulate them for yourself.

And the clearer your goals are, the more attainable they become: it’s when we can clearly understand and visualize our goals that we can start to devise ways to move toward them.

3. Making it real

Last but not least, stating our goals and dreams out loud makes them real. When we declare what it is that we really want, we’re forced to take our goals and dreams more seriously. And it goes without saying that we have a better chance of getting reaching our goals if we see them as something more than just a fanciful wish.

So whatever you want is yours for the taking. And you deserve it. Ask yourself what you really want from your life, and share your thoughts with anyone who will listen!

Hanging Artwork

Hanging art has been and still remains an integral part of adorning our modern day man caves. We have always had an urge to make art an important element of our interiors dating as far back as the prehistoric wall cave paintings and base relief of the Egyptian tombs. Anthropologists have said ancient people thought art was magic that transported you from the mundane to the transcendent. I have to agree, because surprisingly, what we take in visually stays with us unconsciously, capturing us, and magically whisk us away to another place and time.

There are clues that will help you zero in on the type of artwork that compliments the scale and color of the room. Keep in mind the room’s scheme and try to match or contrast it. Is the room neutral, pastel, or vibrantly decorated? Don’t be intimidated when choosing art. It is nothing more than finding images that you like, ones that speak to you, perhaps stimulates reflection, relaxes your mind and uplifts your spirit framing your memories.

Art can be an anchor for a room’s theme; it relays a story of the occupant’s depth, style, humor and even their intellect. While hunting for the ideal pieces, keep in mind these images you are choosing will greet you on a daily basis. Others will be viewing it also, and the substance of your art has impact. If the impact is too much, it will drown out you theme but if it is too little, it will be lost. Discovering the art that reflects you and speaks to you can take some time to find, but once you have found the ideal pieces, how do you hang them and where?

Now that you found the coveted pieces of art, we need to find a way to properly display your artscape. This will involve identifying wall color, location, and framing/matting the artwork and then finally, highlighting each piece if needed with some accent lighting.

Wall Color:

-Consider a suitable backdrop against which to display your work.

-The wall color should not compete with your art.

-The color should either be neutral or in some way play off the colors in the art.

-Repaint the wall to compliment/accent the piece if needs be.

-Ensure back drop is smooth with unobtrusive textures.

Location:

-Allow generous amount of wall space around each work.

– Relate art to wall size-

(Choose smaller pictures for narrow walls and larger works for big wall spaces.)

-Relate Art to Furniture Size

(In general, when hanging art over a piece of

furniture it should not be longer than the width of the furniture- a general principle being about 75% of the table’s/sofa width.)

-Standard hanging height would be at eye level.

-Hang It Low-When hanging a large picture over a table for instance, the bottom of the frame should sit within 4-8″ of the tabletop

-Play with size for dramatic effects-try hanging large art pieces in small spaces such as a powder room.

Hanging art in groups to make a pattern:

-Stripes- symmetrically hung in a row to create a vertical or horizontal line of art

-Plaids- a square or checkered layout

-Herringbone/diagonal- an ascending slope/stepping rows up a stairwell adds excitement to the composition.

-Mosaic- a large cluster of works together serves to display many works in a limited space.

-Artful Grid- Use of the majority of the wall with pictures that are monochromatic, same in color, same frames (if not frameless), and of the same size this will create a dramatic wall of poetry.

-One vertically hung and one horizontal being aligned at the base of the frames.

-Oversized and hung low

-Horizontal lines tend to elongate, widen, and emphasize a casual decorating scheme.

-Vertical lines tend to be more formal giving the illusion of height; it can seem more elegant and refined.

-Avoid hanging matching pictures in a perfect line whenever you’d like to emphasize a casual atmosphere.

-Symmetrical Arrangements adds balance and formality to an arrangement and is generally pleasing and calming to the observer.

– Asymmetrical Arrangements create a very eye-catching grouping and is a casual fun look for informal settings.

-Juxtapose two artworks from different periods that have a common element (color, subject matter, etc.)

-Create a collage by grouping many small artworks together linking them visually in form, theme, or color. This will allow them to play off each other creating a harmonious single graphic effect.

Framing:

-Don’t choose frames/mattes that will overwhelm a piece or fails to set it off.

-Mix frames that differ stylistically and in color giving them a sense of this is a “collection”.

-Try framing several items in one mat and frame.

-Varying frame shapes add interest to a picture grouping by hanging pictures with differently shaped frames.

-Pictures will have greater impact if matted in a contrasting color to the wall. Choose a dark mat for a light wall and vice versa.

-A group of pictures framed alike and hung together can have big impact.

Shelves and Alternative Wall Hangings

-Place art on a shelf creating a more dimensional effect and allows you to exhibit framed work along with other collected art, figures/pots.

-Look for objects to hang on the wall that give the impression of art such as architectural features

-Iron art is very popular and adds a great deal of interest with its 3-dimensional effect.

Accent Lighting:

Note: Beautiful artwork can be lost unless it is well lit. Illuminating the work it gives it more importance.

-The entire surface of a painting should be should be evenly lit without glare

-To light an individual piece and direct light evenly mount a picture light that has a long arm from the back of the artwork as to not damage the piece.

-Use a color correct, ultra violet-free, low wattage bulb.

-Light sculptures to enhance their forms to create a dramatic effect that cast shadows onto walls or floors.

-Use uplights and downlights of various sizes that suits each piece.

-Using track lighting above a series of pieces that perhaps run down the length of a hallway will dramatically highlight the art and light the hallway simultaneously.

-Light bookshelves and cabinets with mounted lights or clip ons

Alas, you are now armed with a holster full of new hanging art arsenal and now are officially equipped to tackle any room with your new artscaping design guidelines. Stick to your theme by supporting it with art that’s repeating in colors, motifs, and style of the room’s interior. Use the art as inspiration, search for pictures that move you and use their themes and colors as the foundation for other room elements. Allow the art to be humorous, fun, unexpected and whimsical. Look for themes that fit your decorating style by bringing out the colors in other elements of the room. Just remember that art endures because it releases us from repetition of habitual thought and allows us a fresh perspective; so be sure to display your work respectfully and artfully by putting some extra thought into it.

How to Coat Your Garage Floor With a DIY Epoxy Resin Flooring Product

Laying Epoxy resin flooring is not easy, however with some care and the advice we give on this page you should be able to lay a good quality epoxy floor in you garage. Done well an epoxy floor will transform a garage into a w whole new room in your house.

Preparation and Cleaning

Good preparation is key to a good epoxy finish. Over half our time on Commercial jobs is spent preparing and cleaning the floor.

Preparation is best done with a a high pressure washer, or a concrete grinder. Both are available for hire from Coates or your local higher place. For around $100 you will only need it half a day.

Grind over the floor with the grinder, until the top layer of the cement is removed. Depending on the age and hardness of your concrete this may take a fair bit of grinding. Try and get as close to the edge as possible. Once finished sweep up all the dust. The give the whole thing a really good washout with a hose or high pressure washer. With some strong detergent Be sure to wash all of it off though, do not leave residue.

If you are preparing using the high pressure washer method, you will need some Hydrochloric acid. Wet the floor down with a hose, mix up the hydrochloric acid with some water. Wet down you drive way thoroughly, if you don’t want it etched also. Now spray or broom acid all over the floor, leave it sit for at least 10 minutes. Get you high pressure washer started wash the acid off and then go over the whole floor slowly blasting every part at fairly close range, to ensure that any dirt or loose concrete comes off.

Final Preparation

Give the floor a good blow out or a really good sweep out, you should be able to see dust when you sweep. The floor must be very, very clean or the epoxy won’t stick well. Tape a line of masking tape at the start of your driveway, where you garage stops, so you get a nice clean edge.

Mixing

It is vitally important to the part a resin to the part b (hardener) in the correct ratio. Normally 3 -1 but there are different ratio.

Only mix up at most 4 litres at a time or it will go off before you have used it. Mix using a power drill with a pint mixer attachment for at least 3 minutes. To the primer you will also need to add a thinner to allow the primer to soak into the concrete.

Primer Coat

Don’t stuff around once mixed, quickly get you brush and in with a paint brush along the walls, of were you want to start. Cut in about going out in both direction from the back corner.

Roll out a thin coat of over the entire floor, make sure that you don’t leave any gaps. You will need to push it out pretty well, it is only a primer the idea being that it soaks into the concrete, don’t try to put it on to thick.

Filling the Cracks

The next day once the primer is dry, must be the next day as there is a window in which time runs out if you leave it too long to put the final coat on. You should now scrape the floor, and remove any dags, insects or other things that have stuck to the primer. A trowel scrapper is good for this. Mix up the bog, on the board provided. It is about 3 to 1, keep putting more in until it is a pale pink colour. Now move quickly push the filler into any cracks you have in the floor. Scrap any dags off the top of the floor as you go.

Blow out Out

Blow out or sweep extremely well with a fine broom. Removing all dust, dags anything on the floor. It can never be to clean, so do it twice and make a good job of it. Place a line of masking tape on you r driveway where you want the floor to stop, so you have a nice neat line up to it.

Final Coat

Mix up the final coat in the same way you mixed up the primer, except this time you will need to add the tint and will not nee to add any solvent.

Again cut in quickly an area so you can start rolling. This coat should go on a lot thicker than the last, keep the roller fairly well loaded, you should keep the roller full as you go. Epoxy is self levelling but you will get a better finish if you roll over the floor twice as you go to help it level. Also roll over the edges of where you have cut in. Avoid allowing puddles to form, and roll out thoroughly any that do appear. Make sure you roll every where twice, missed bits and puddles will not look good on the floor.

Curing

Your Floor will be right to walk on the next day, but you should avoid driving you cars on it for a few days, until the epoxy has cured more.

Thats all there is to it. If you have done everything right you epoxy floor should continue to look great in you garage for years to come.

How to Erect Scaffold Towers Safely

If you need to use  scaffold  towers as part of your home improvement project it recommended to adhere to the HSE guidelines as if working on a site. Working safely with  scaffold  towers is both a legal requirement as well as a critical way of avoiding nasty accidents. Before undertaking work on  scaffold  towers The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require that an assessment is done. This assessment should confirm that there is no alternative to working at height and that the most suitable equipment has been selected for the job in hand.

Scaffold  towers are, when used correctly, a safe means of gaining access to work which is being done at height. They are used widely throughout the UK. Where incidents can occur is when there has been inappropriate erection or the misuse of the  scaffold  towers. Numerous accidents occur because of these reasons but with the correct health and safety practices these are being lowered and can be prevented.

When erecting  scaffold  towers the workers need to be aware that aluminum and the thin-wall steel towers are relatively light and can overturn easily with incorrect use. All parts must be in their correct place to ensure the required core strength. If sections are left out there is a good chance that the towers can collapse.

There are two approved methods which are recommended by the Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association, which have been developed in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive. However all manufacturers also have the duty to provide the instruction manual which explains the erection sequence and this should include any bracing requirements. The same applies to any organisations which hire the towers.

The first approved method is an advance guard rail system, which makes use of guard rail units which are specifically designed for the job. These guard rail units are locked in place form the level below and moved up onto the platform level. They provide collective fall prevention and are put in place before the operator accesses the platform in order to fit the permanent guard rails. It is the progressive erection of guard rails from the protected areas at the lower level which makes sure that the operator will not be exposed to the risk of falling from an un-guarded platform.

The second approved method of erection is the “through the trap” method. It involves the operator taking up a working position in the trap door of the platform. From this position he can add or remove the components which are acting as guard rails on the level above the platform. This method is designed to make sure that the operator does not stand on an un-guarded platform, yet can install the components to a particular level while he is positioned within the trap door of that level.

All operators must also be trained in the health and safety aspects of ensuring that the  scaffold  towers are stable. They must also be fully trained in the use of the towers, as well as knowing about moving the towers. Before use the  scaffold  towers must always be inspected by a competent person. Additionally extra safety precautions need to be taken when the work is being carried out in a public place. Finally all operators should be trained in the dismantling of towers.

Laminate Flooring Underlayment – Just the Basics

Talking to flooring dealers or installers can be a bit uncomfortable for most people. They, after all, are experts and are dealing with laminate flooring underlayment every day, but most of us only encounter it occasionally. This puts us at a disadvantage when shopping for flooring and underlay. Hopefully your dealer will give you the information you need to make a good decision but, just in case he doesn’t, arm yourself with knowledge before you leave home.

Laminate flooring underlayment is necessary in most cases. The only exception is if you are buying laminate flooring that already has underlay attached to the bottom of the floor. In that case, if is unnecessary and, in fact, unwise to use more underlay. The floor will end up being too soft and will not wear well.

If you are getting a laminate floor that doesn’t have underlayment attached, you will need to get underlay.

Quality underlayment:

  • provides cushioning
  • eliminates imperfections in subflooring provides thermal insulation
  • provides sound insulation
  • in some cases provides a moisture barrier.

It isn’t a frill; it’s a necessity.

Laminate flooring underlay comes in rolls and is from 6-8 millimeters thick. Generally it is 3 feet wide and varies in length from 30-100 feet long. Be sure that your underlay is as long as the length of your room to avoid unnecessary seams. If you are putting the laminate over concrete you also want to be sure that your underlay has a vapor or moisture barrier.

Do your homework before you start shopping for laminate and underlay. Having knowledge beforehand will allow you to ask the right questions when you are talking to the flooring dealer and installer. Be sure to question your dealer or, even better, check the specifications yourself to make sure that the underlay will meet your needs.

Escape the Bexzoyl Peroxide Trap

Many acne sufferers face a common problem. It is the unending circle of breakouts, acne remedies, dry skin and then more breakouts. In my experience, this is the most common reason people with acne eventually turn from OTC products to more expensive specialty acne treatment systems like Proactiv. They are looking for an answer to their acne that does not simply cause another problem, like overly dry and itchy skin. For many people with acne this is what I call “the benzoyl peroxide trap.”

Benzoyl peroxide is a very effective acne treatment for all but extreme cases of cystic acne or roseaca; but, it can also be very drying to all but the oiliest of skins.* Most acne sufferers are simply plagued by acne vulgaris, a surface condition that is treatable with topical remedies. The most common over the counter remedies contain a 5 to 10% concentration of the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide.

Benzoyl peroxide works well in the correct concentration. Unfortunately, modern consumers have a “maximum strength” mentality. We don’t want 325mg of aspirin when we can get 500mg for just a few cents more. We never consider the fact that 325mg will cure our headache just as well, just as quickly and do it more safely. This is so prevalent that in many cases you cannot find regular strength products on the shelves anymore. They simply do not sell; therefore, they are not profitable and some companies just don’t make them.

When it comes to acne, we all want it gone as quickly as possible, so we buy maximum strength products. The problem with this is that in most cases it is overkill. Why swat a fly with a flyswatter when it will be just as dead if we use a   sledgehammer ? Because the  sledgehammer  will do some pretty significant damage to the table the fly landed on. Similarly, when we use too strong a concentration of benzoyl peroxide, we may get rid of the zit quickly, but the rest of the skin suffers. Thus, the benzoyl peroxide trap. We have acne, we treat the acne with maximum strength product, the pimples clear up, then the skin dries out and becomes uncomfortable, we stop using the acne product, and the pimples come back. It’s an endless circle, unless…

Lines like Proactiv have a secret weapon in their medicated product. They still use benzoyl peroxide, but they have a 2.5% concentration. What you say? Less active ingredient instead of more?!? Yes, less active ingredient. Used daily, a 2.5% concentration of benzoyl peroxide is very effective against acne, without overdrying the skin like typical over the counter remedies. These companies don’t announce the fact that their product contains less active ingredient, but what they do announce is how effective they are-and they are effective, as evidenced by the millions of dedicated consumers purchasing (and more importantly repurchasing) these products every day.

My recommendation:

Now, if you want to purchase Proactiv or a similar line, that’s fine. They are quality products that work. But this is the regimen I recommend to my acne clients who prefer the convenience and price point of over the counter products.

1) Cleanse-use the mildest cleanser that gets the job done for you. Most people can use glycerin soap with good results. There are several quality brands out there. If you wear heavy makeup I recommend you use a water rinseable cold cream.

2) Tone-those clients who use a glycerin soap to cleanse may not even need this step if they rinse thoroughly. For my clients who use water rinseable cold cream, I recommend they find an alcohol-free toner that they like. Note that I say toner here and not astringent. Astringents can strip the skin of its acid mantle, causing the pores to overreact and make even more oil, which just exacerbates the problem.

3) Treat-apply a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide product to the affected areas only. Neutrogena’s On-The-Spot Acne Treatment is an example of an over the counter 2.5% product. If, after time, your skin starts to feel dry, you can begin to apply the treatment product only before going to bed.

4) Protect-in the morning only and after your treatment product is thoroughly dry, apply a light layer of non-comedogenic sunscreen with an SPF of 15. Make sure your products have dried completely before applying makeup.

Follow this regimen twice a day for best results.

Note: it doesn’t hurt to keep a small tube of 5 or 10% benzoyl product available. Get the smallest tube you can and use it to dot on the occasional particularly troublesome pimple. Do not use over large areas of the face, just dot it on when you really need intervention.

* Cystic acne and roseaca are both conditions best treated by a doctor. To put it in simple terms, cystic acne is a form of acne characterized by excessively oily skin, blackheads, whiteheads and cysts-pimple like bumps under the skin that do not have any kind of “head” on them, meaning they do not vent to the outside. Roseaca often looks like a bad case of acne, but you may notice that while whiteheads may appear, few if any blackheads are present and the skin often looks extremely flushed. In both cases a doctor’s intervention is the best route to clearer skin.

Getting Quality Roof Replacement Services

If you are looking for roof replacement contractors, you should be able to find many companies that offer this on the internet. The best place to look for contractors is at an online directory for roofing replacement companies. Before you hire a company to replace you roof, you should first determine if your roof really needs to be replaced or if it can just be repaired and then repainted.

Replacing your roof can be a bit expensive and if you can just repair it and make it look new with a fresh coat of paint, you will be able to save a lot of money. If your roof is leaking, you might be able to repair it yourself with a sealant. This is easy to do and will only take a few minutes to complete. If you have bigger problems than a simple leak then you might want to consider calling a professional to fix it.

If for some reason, you really need roof replacement, decide what kind of roof you want to swap with the old one. There are different types of materials and designs for roofs. There are metal roofs, shingles, slate and tile among others. Not all these materials are ideal for your home design and climate. They also cost different amounts of money.

The first thing you have to determine is if a certain type of roof will go with your home’s architecture and design. After you figure that out, ask a roof contractor for a roofing replacement quote for that kind of roof. Get quotes from a number of roof contractors so you can compare their rates and products. You should also check on the quality of their service by asking for referrals or reading online reviews about the company.

You can also ask for samples of their work by asking for addresses in your neighborhood where they have performed roof replacement projects. You don’t have to knock on people’s doors but you can at least see the roof from the outside. You will be able to see if the roof was installed nicely and if the roofing material also looks good.

Before surfing on websites of roofing companies, make sure that the roofing contractors you are talking to are based in your city and can provide service in your area. Go to a roofing directory on the net and look for companies based in your city or state. You should find a drop down menu on top or a list of locations on the left or right side bar on the site.

Click on the right location that indicates your city or state. Browse through a list of roof contractors in your city. Explore some websites to see their selection of roofing replacement options. If they have a price list on the website, write down the prices for the type of roof you prefer. If there are no prices listed, get a free quote from some contractors and then choose the company that gives the best offer.

New Engineering Materials

There have been a number of science fields which have helped us in producing new engineering  materials . Some of the fields are the nano engineering and the forensic engineering. Other important field is the failure analysis .as we know that with new inventions taking place every second facing different failures is natural. So this field of science helps in analyzing these failures and rectifying them. Hundreds and hundreds of scientists and inventors are working and experimenting continuously to make this world a better place to live.

These new inventions have gradually changed the course of living of people. Now these inventions can be seen in every field that has direct or indirect link to the humans. To consider new engineering  materials  we consider the Polymer Engineering. This field of science develops new concepts which are based on the  materials  that are polymeric in nature. These  materials  are not a result of single engineering technology but these are obtained or produced from a blend of different technologies.

To understand this blend of technologies we consider the example of fiber reinforced blends in which the preferred wetting  material  induces a synergy. It holds together the fiber reinforcement with the polymer blending. It leads to a high stiffness and rigidity which is maintained even at very high temperatures.

Getting into the depth to understand the phenomena we have to have a look at the kinetics of the system that is the wetting  material . It is important for us to understand the microstructures of this system that exists in three states and form this highly stable structure. The  material  if understood can lead us to the explanation of the phenomena and shows that how sometimes these microstructures are highly conductive in nature. Taking another example would be using the nano-fillers which are used to alter the polymer. When we increase the rigidity it is possible that we are able to obtain good compressive strengths of this  material .

Some new engineering  materials  have been introduced at the SAMPE 2000. One of the inclusions was ProTechtor.

ProTechtor – It has superb blast containment characteristics… It is obtained or produced from fibers. It has a density range which starts from 3.5 to 128. It has numerous advantages such as firm core and moreover the core can be made insulating. There are a number of other  materials  which are helping in one or the other way in standardizing the lives of people.

Painting Light

HOW TO PAINT LIGHT

I teach students how to paint and draw light. I am also a lighting specialist. My fascination with light encompasses, not only the commercial, retailing aspect, but the artistic as well. Once drawing and painting skills are developed to the point where students can accurately put down what they see, creating light and shadow is studied and faithfully delineated subject matter emerges in a world of space and volume.

LEARNING TO SEE

Basically, the depiction of light and shadow is accomplished by using dark and light colors in painting and tonal gradations in drawing. For a beginning student this often requires some visual skills.. First, I tell the student it is necessary to convert what they see to a two-dimensional vision that they can translate to a two-dimensional surface like a canvas or a sketchbook page.

POWERFUL GRIDS

Seeing objects two-dimensionally can be done in several ways. The easiest (and most time-tested) is to construct a grid in front of the subject matter–that could be actual objects, a photo or a picture. This can be done most simply by holding a pencil vertically and horizontally against the viewed objects, comparing their shapes to the vertical and horizontal lines of the pencil.

Another time-tested method is to literally construct a grid on plate glass or Plexiglas and place that grid in front of the objects. Now the viewed objects are intersected by many squares (depending on how large or small the squares in the grid are.) Each quadrant (square) of the grid can then be painted or drawn independently and upon completing the entire grid, the composition of objects is finished to compose an accurate picture of the objects.

Light and shadow are more easily discerned and created with this grid method. How objects are illuminated can be defined on paper or canvas by observing and re-creating light and shadow at play in each quadrant. In accomplishing this by shading and highlighting, illumination and therefore, volume is created, the illusion of the three-dimensional space is created, reborn on a two-dimensional surface.

EARLY LINE AND COLOR

Accuracy, as well as light and shadow were not always the motivation behind depicting artful images. Before the Renaissance, art works in Europe depicted objects ( figures, landscapes, buildings) in a flat space. There was no light and shadow. Figures were delineated and colored in a style much like a coloring book. These images translated well to stained glass windows and mosaics. Their simplicity of line and color contributed to the strength of the iconography, often of religious significance.

EARTHLY LIGHT

With the discovery of perspective, space and volume became important to artists as well as the depiction of light and shadow. Symbolic icons and images described by line gave way to depictions of illuminated space. In perspective, objects recede and advance in a two-dimensional space that is totally visually believable. To augment the receding and advancing figures with directional light and shadow completed the believability, creating a world the eye could explore as a simulated, illuminated three-dimensional environment.

GOLD LEAF TO EARTHLY LIGHT

Spiritual light, the vehicle of infinity was often expressed with the use of gold leaf in Medieval altarpieces. The warm, glowing, reflective surface behind religious figures imbued the work with a rich and reassuring statement-the glory of heaven and God’s power. A more earthly light replaced gold leaf in the Renaissance. Spiritual figures were bathed in sunlight and swathed in shadow. The light that illuminated the humble shepherds was the same light that shone on Jesus and his followers.

REPEATING HISTORY

It is interesting to me that the journey a beginning drawing or painting student takes often replicates the historical transition from the Medieval use of line and color-in style to the Renaissance application of illuminated space and volume. And, with more advanced students, their journey often continues to repeat the contemporary return to line and color-in, the preference for depicting flat, shallow space and solid color.

I find this reassuring. The art world is wide open, brimming with many styles, images, materials and skills. For today’s artist, everything is available, to use towards a creative purpose. All of history as well as the latest technological/digital images are ready to be researched and developed.

Where to Hide Your Hidden Camera

People like to observe and watch what’s going on when they’re away. For security purposes or just to satisfy their desire to spy. Many want to discover what their spouse is doing at home alone or how a babysitter is taking care of the baby when both parents are working.

These people sometimes get confused and don’t even know where to hide their cameras in the house. Which area is safest (meaning that the camera won’t be spotted)? Which place people wouldn’t want to look at and so on.

Below, we’ll try to look at some of the best places in the house where one would want to hide his or her spy camera in order to observe and record various activities in the area.

Hiding Spy Camera in a Bedroom

If a person is concerned whether the spouse is cheating or not, the most obvious place to install a hidden camera would be in a bedroom.

But which place in a bedroom would be best to put the hidden cam?

Nightstand – Ok, most bedroom have nightstands, right. So one of the best places to put a hidden camera into would be a nightstand, behind some regular object, like a clock or radio. You could get a hidden camera already built into a clock and put it right on the nightstand.

Curtain-Rod – Another place could be a curtain-rod. If you can get a tiny spy camera, which is barely seen from a 10 feet distance, you could mount it on the top of the curtain or curtain-rod. You could get much better viewing angle and record everything without much trouble.

TV Set – Many people have TV’s in bedrooms. So putting a tiny camera near the TV or on top of TV would be a good idea. Of course, the spy camera should be hidden and not look like a spy camera.

PC – Some people have PC’s in their bedrooms. One could simply replace the regular speakers with new ones, which already have a spy camera installed and perform secret surveillance this way.

Book Shelf – Placing a hidden camera in a book shelf might be a good idea. Especially when the hidden camera is in a shape of the book.

Placing a Hidden Camera in a Living Room

Teddy Bear – Many people have all kinds of plush toys. It’s possible to simply take one and put a camera inside.

Toy Cars – If there are any toy cars in the living room or any other room, you could put a small micro camera into that toy and spy on the others.

Mirrors – You could buy a two-sided mirror and put a spy camera there. Otherwise, it’s possible to buy a mirror with a hidden camera built inside already.

Lamps – You could take one light bulb or lamp out and put a spy camera inside. Then put the light back and start surveillance. Just make sure than someone doesn’t try to repair it.

Flowers – You could put a small camera inside a flower pot and put it on a windowsill for instance. If you have some flowers in the living room or plants, this won’t look odd.

Switches – Tiny cameras could be placed into light switches. Some light switches have covers, which help mask the spy camera’s lenses.

Placing a Hidden Camera in a Kitchen

Lastly, you might want to put a spy camera in the kitchen. This wouldn’t look suspicious if you put a clock in the kitchen somewhere.

There are already designed spy cameras that look like coffee mugs. Could you find a better place for such item other than kitchen?

Lastly, you could get one of those wearable spy cameras and put it wherever you want. Bedroom, living room, kitchen or office room. Nowhere such item will look suspicious. They can be pens, glasses, lighters, cell phones etc.

Autumn Fashion Essentials For Men

As much as we may hate to admit it, summer is waving a firm goodbye which means that the days will now begin to get colder and shorter, not to mention darker. This expected yet unwanted change will naturally mean that it’s time to wave goodbye to the t-shirts, shorts and khaki prints and in its place embrace autumn fashion.

I know what you’re thinking; autumn fashion is boring right? After-all what could be fun and stylish about far too many shades of brown and having to wear so many layers that you wouldn’t feel a wrecking ball hit you? Autumn is definitely different and for many, having to let go of summer makes the transition quite difficult but is it really as bad as it may seem?

Maybe it’s not as fun and bright in Autumn but there is no reason why your fashion choices can’t ooze style, whatever the weather. With the world currently lost in Fashion Week it is exciting to see some of the worlds big name designers showcase what they have to offer and for men, autumn fashion has never looked so good!

From shirts, to coats to trousers; whether you’re a men’s designer brands fan or a lover of all things high street there is an endless amount of the latest styles and designs all on offer. However, whether you hate shopping or not, knowing what to choose is difficult as the endless options can make it all a little confusing and very overwhelming.

I’ve scoured the web to find out what’s hot and what’s not and picked out my favourite bits that you have to include in your wardrobe this autumn…

  • Crew Neck Jumper- Simple, versatile and not to mention comfortable, every man needs a crew neck in his wardrobe. Whether for a smart or casual look; the right colour, style and fit can work in every scenario and in the right shade it can have the potential to literally work with anything.
  • Trench/Mac- A quality trench coat/mac is a must have in the autumn. Light enough to ensure that you are comfortable and aren’t over-heated, particularly if you are wearing a few layers but just enough to protect you against the changing temperature. A standard clean fit trench/mac will look simple, classic and stylish.
  • Boots- It’s a given that when the cooler temperature arrive, you’ll need to invest in a good pair of boots. Suede boots are a must have this season and are easily available from a range of mens designer clothing labels and high street retailers. A quality pair will work for both smart and casual occasions, protect against the elements and comfortably last several years. Consider them an investment if you will but either way, this autumn you need to make them a wardrobe staple.
  • Jeans- We all need jeans in our life and this autumn is no different. A quality pair of jeans is and always will be an essential but this season try to stick to the straight leg. Whatever shade and whether paired with a shirt or jumper, boots or trainers; make a straight pair of jeans on your must have list this season.

The cold weather is never fun but there is no reason why the season can’t be stylish. Think beyond the boring layers and the tedious browns and expand your horizon to embrace some quality, eye-catching items that are sure to spruce up even the dullest autumn wardrobe!

Are Hair Loss Medications Safer Than Natural Supplements

If you’re anything like a lot of men with thinning hair, then it probably feels like you’ve tried every hair loss medication in the world. If you’re still looking, it’s most likely because nothing you’ve tried so far has actually worked. Sometimes, these medication causes side effects that are too problematic to ignore; other times, there is no noticeable benefit in taking a particular medication, and you end up throwing it out. Frustrating, isn’t it? One of the biggest problems with a lot of products today is that they’re geared for use by both men and women – and a man, your problem is probably androgenic alopecia.

Natural Treatments And Androgenic Alopecia

You’re most likely more familiar with the common term for androgenic alopecia – male pattern baldness. This is the most common culprit behind hair loss in men, by far. Yet so many kinds of medication completely disregard the science behind what causes male pattern baldness, hoping to cash in on and appeal to as many customers as possible. Today’s natural products are the few kinds of medication available that are specifically designed to deal with the underlying causes of male pattern baldness.

Nip Thinning Hair In The Bud

DHT Blockers are an exciting type hair loss medication that work in two very distinct ways. Their oral supplements work to block the hormone known as DHT – or dihydrotestosterone – preventing it from being produced in the first place. Some DHT Blockers also contain a topical serum to gently massage into the scalp to help create a fertile environment for fresh, new hair to regrow. Men who have tried virtually every medication under the sun swear by DHT Blockers because they actually work – and keep on working. Since they are all natural, they can be safely used every single day.

Ditch  That Ineffective Hair Loss Medication

Quit wasting your money on those medications that don’t do a thing to improve your situation. Invest in a natural product that actually works. Natural hair loss products work with a man’s body to combat hair loss safely and naturally. A proven hair loss product that may be able to help is Procerin. Contract Management Databases

A contract management database is considered the heart of a contract management software system. The contract management database is an empowering web-based application that can monitor thousands of data simultaneously. Contract management databases are designed to track and collect meta-data, and to disperse it to users in a responsive and searchable format. This enables them to stay on top of every contract deliverable. The database usually contains critical data and contractual obligations.

Today, almost all business concerns, from small to large, employ and maintain contract management databases. A contract management database may be as simple as an address list, or a complex one tracking all kinds of contract information. Certain aspects are to be taken into consideration when creating a contract management database. It should primarily contain mail merge features for direct mails and e-mails. The software chosen to create the contract management database must be effective and easy to install, search or modernize. It is always advisable to have a single list instead of multiple lists, so as to avoid duplication. Likewise, creating different fields for contracts will make sorting easy.

A contract management database starts its functions when data is stored in it. Initially, information comes from other database systems and from data that have been manually entered. Sometimes, if the list is too large for manual storing, a card scanning program compatible with the contract management database software can be used. Similarly, when manual verification of duplication is not possible, special tools capable of making essential additions and deletions can be employed. For handling complex situations such as calculation of contract sales, specialized contract management database applications are available.

The prime advantage of contract management databases is that it allows users to access vendor and contract information. It enables employees to properly plan their work and meet the legal obligations of all contract deadlines. It also saves time and results in improved profits. The key provisions included in contract management databases can provide accurate and instant information. In addition, several options are now available to retrieve information anytime and anywhere, including secured Internet contract management databases.
