Evaluating the Mounts on a Action Camera

Helmet cameras can mount in a variety of different ways to helmets, handlebars, and many kinds of sporting tubes. A good helmet camera will come with several mounting options, including properly placed screw holes and cable-tie brackets. Some of the different options for mounting a helmet camera will be discussed in this post..

One of the most common kinds of mounts is the adhesive mount. This is useful for smooth, flat surfaces, such as a helmet. The other options for helmet mounts usually include adhesive Velcro, screws (not a good idea), or goggle straps. Attaching the camera mounts directly on top of the helmet using an adhesive strip is advised because doing so provides a secure mount, but is not as permanent as when using screws. Most adhesive mounts stay secure even when wet, and most can endure an excellent velocity of wind pressure. The drawback to using adhesive directly on the helmet is deciding on the correct placement. It is advised that a few different placements with tape or loose adhesive be accomplished prior to selecting the final placement for the final adhesive. Also, choose whether a forward-looking or rear-looking placement is preferred.

Google straps also generate a good option for helmet or head mounting. Goggle straps can be fitted with Velcro strips and positioned either forward or rear looking. The draw back to a goggle strap mount is the chance of a loose-fitting goggle. Make sure the strap is secure and isn’t going to vibrate when in use.

One other popular strategy to secure an action camera with a selection of circular tubes, such as bicycle handlebars is by using cable-ties. Cable ties ratchet tight by pulling on the end of the tie. They can be found in a range of lengths and colors, and they are very reasonably priced. They hold securely of course, if they have to be re-attached, it is inexpensive merely to cut one and throw it away and utilize another one. One really should have a pair of pliers or cutters handy when adjusting the cable-ties, simply because they’re just about impossible to break in two without cutting them.

Things to consider for the utilization of mounts include the secureness of the fit, whether a wet condition will likely be encountered, exactly how much vibration will be in effect, as well as how much adjusting the mount will be needing once it fastened the first time. Most mounts come with a range of options that address all these concerns.

Finally, it is extremely important to look at the mount as an important part of the action camera experience. Having good quality video is considered the goal, and a poorly suited mount can detract from that goal. Also, with the high cost of the camera, the mount must be secure enough so as not to lose or damage the camera.

Bosch Bulldog Rotary Hammer Power Tool Review

Bosch makes some of the best power tools in the world and the Bosch Bulldog Rotary  Hammer  is a perfect example. Right out of the box, the first item we noticed was the case and the big Bosch logo. When opening the case, we noticed a lot of room, more than enough to carry bits, chisels and screws. This is a nice feature. We know it’s only a case, but the extra room for peripheral tool parts saves trips back out to the truck.

After picking up the tool, the first feature we noticed was the weight. The Bosch Bulldog rotary  hammer  was very light and weighs in at 6.25 lbs. I was a little surprised, I thought it would weight more. The Bosch was very easy to handle as the balance between your front hand and rear hand is nice. On the front of the tool, you can change back and fourth to drill,  hammer  or rotary  hammer  with a well placed dial. The handle is a “D” handle, meaning it gives a user more control when using it over your head or on the ground. The “D: handle is a very nice feature because control is important when using this type of power tool. The only downside to a D handle is sometimes its harder to get into tight spots, but that’s not a bad trade off! We really like the SDS system. The bit locks into place by pulling back the chuck and dropping it in. The SDS system is nice if you are using a variety of different bits or chisels. The down side to an SDS system is that the bits tend to be a little more expensive, but we think they are well worth the extra cost.

We ran the Bosch Rotary  Hammer  through some tests. We used a chisel to break up some brick and drilled holes for Tapcons. We performed some other tests, but these were the main two tests we wanted to monitor.

The first test was using a chisel to break up some brick that was laid in a cement walkway. Again with the SDS bit system, the chisel locked right into place with no hassles. We set the dial to  Hammer  and went to town. The D handle was very nice as we could control the Bosch  hammer  very easily. We busted up about half the walk way rather quickly (18 minutes) and we didn’t feel a lot of strain on our backs. The tool ran rather cool as we didn’t feel a lot of heat produced from the Bosch Rotary  Hammer . After we were half done, we tried another Rotary  Hammer  (Different brand name that we will put into another review). This one didn’t have a D handle and we could tell from the start this made a big difference. When we finished the last part of the walkway, we were a little more tired for two reasons. (By the way, it took us 26 minutes to finish the second half). First, we were a little more tired partly due to the absence of the D handle. Second was the power transfer. On the Bosch we couldn’t tell how much power it was transferring to the work, but after using another manufacture for the last half, we could really see that the Bosch was transferring more of the power to the chisel instead of back into the power tool. Over all the Bosch was a great tool for this job. Great balance, but the best discovery was how much power it transferred to the work instead of your body.

The next test was to put anchors into concrete walls. For this we used the Condrive 1000 Tapcon system. This was a no- brainer. The Bosch Bulldog Rotary  hammer  knocked this out without breaking a sweat. Again, when we did it on the ceiling, wall or floor, it was very easy to control. As long as you match the bit to the right screw, you could fly through this without stripping a screw. Once you set the depth on the Bulldog, it was no problem. The only minor obstacle we ran into was the screws. When we used the tapcon screws, we could really get them to bit and hold with no problem. The off brand screws wouldn’t always hold or the heads broke rather easily, but this is more due to the screw or human error, not the Bosch Bulldog.

We ran a couple more tests to rate durability, but we had a hard time getting this tool to run hot. It runs very cool. Over all this is a great Rotary  Hammer . So if you are looking at getting a Rotary  Hammer , definitely take a look at the Bosch Bulldog.

D Handle, good transfer of power, SDS system, great power

It depends on what you are using this  hammer  for. If you are looking to get into tight areas, its not bad with the D handle, but could prevent some movement.

Professional Power Tool Guide Rating

You get a lot of power and a lot of tool for the price. This was a test on the 7/8″, for a little more money you can get the 1″ SDS which might be better.

The are no questions about the performance. It Does everything you want. More than enough power.

Ease of Use

As with most of Bosch power tools, this is very easy to handle and also has great balance.

With the  Hammer , Drill or Rotary  hammer , there are more than enough ways to get the job done. The trigger is very easy to hold to get the right speed.

This tool has good balance. The forward part of the power tool has a good balance by itself. With the D handle you can easily control your work. You will end up getting tired because of the ability to keep on working with a well balanced tool.

This is an extremely solid power tool. When you pick this rotary  hammer  up, you can feel the balance. It doesn’t seem cheap. Just one of those good power tools to hold in your hand.

Overall we are giving this a “5 Blade” The Bosch rotary  Hammer  has great balance, lots of power and the SDS system makes it easy to change bits on the go. The case has more than enough room to store bits and screws, which is a nice feature.

PVA Glue

Making   mosaic  is made easier using PVA (Poly Vinyl Acetate) Glue. This is a type of adhesive that does not contain any solvent and is water based. When swallowed, it is highly toxic. It however does not emit harmful gases thus, on inhalation, it is not that dangerous. This type of adhesive is not water proof. You need to clamp the item for a good hold. This type of glue may exist in two varieties. The white type is the common one. The yellow type has a shorter shelf life compared to the white type. It has a high moisturizing capacity.

The more soluble form of the glue is useful for children craft work. The diluted form is ideal for  mosaic  work. PVA glue is the most common wood glue that is used. The yellow type(carpenter’s glue) is what is used. Sometimes, the white type can be used. Only a little is needed. The adhesive is a co-polymer of expensive acrylics. It works well with leather, paper mache, book binding and art work.

The glue is tough, flexible and non-acidic. It’s not harmful to your health and skin. Elmer glue is the best selling branded white glue. It can protect cheese from fungi and humidity. It works well with paper, industrial coatings and paints.

PVA Glue should not be allowed to freeze. Freezing breaks the polymer making the glue useless. The adhesive can be easily cleaned with warm soapy water in case of spills. Though some types are expensive, all the adhesives serve the same purpose. This glue can be used to fill gaps by adding saw dust to it. It can be available in the tube form. It can be diluted and used for sealing.

DIY – Building Field Stone Columns

My husband and I wanted to add a little curb appeal to our house by taking our plain old front porch posts and adding field stone column bases and beefing up the posts into columns. We wanted a little curb appeal. We got a LOT of curb appeal! And we did it ourselves.

This project initially came to mind because the soil in our San Diego yard is VERY rocky and we have tons of field stone that has been dug up over the years from various projects. We thought, why not use it?! We began by looking for professional stone masons to do the job since we did not know how to. What we found was that the few people we called did not know how either. I am sure there are folks out there who still do this kind of work but we could not find them. I think since most people use cultured stone, stone veneer or concrete these days to simulate real field stone it is just not cost effective any more. That brings us to the second thing we realized; even if we had found someone, after doing the work ourselves and seeing the time it takes, we probably would not have been willing to pay what a professional would need to charge. It would just be too expensive. So if you want the look of real field stone columns (you can tell the difference if they are not) you can do it yourself cheap, but it will take some time and effort. But wow! The look is worth it!

We did some practice projects first which only reinforced the fact that we did not know how to do this. They just did not look right. We realized from looking at other people’s columns that the important thing was that the corner stones needed to be stacked on top of each other to make the column a square. We found a simple diagram on line that showed how to install guide lines at the corners of where you want your columns to be so you can follow these lines and keep your corners straight.

The following instructions are not meant to be exhaustive, but rather to give you a good idea of how the project will go and what it entails. You will need to do more research on the technical details you may need to know before being able to complete this project.

You will first need to determine what diameter you want your columns to be and how high you want them to go. Ours are approximately 18 inches per side and about 3 feet high. You must begin by pouring concrete bases for your columns to rest on for sturdy support. Then if you are building around existing wood posts as we were, you must waterproof the posts. We used roofing tar. After the guide lines are in place, (we used simple string lines taped in place from floor to ceiling. Be sure they are at at true vertical!) the stone work can begin. It is really quite simple but does take attention to detail and time. My husband and I worked as a team and we each had our jobs to do.

Mix up a batch of mortar, you will need enough to set two courses of stone for each column (2 high) and you will want the mortar to be on the thick side. Two courses of stone are all you can really do at a time or the weight of the stone and mortar will place too much pressure on what is below it and cause it to squish out. We did 4 columns and started by just working on 1 until we felt we knew we were doing a good job. After that we worked on the remaining 3 simultaneously, doing 2 courses on each of the three at at time. Between courses the mortar must set for several hours before laying the next course on top. You will quickly become familiar with the mortar and how it feels and behaves as it is setting and will be able to judge when it is time to set the next courses. Also refer to the instructions on the bag.

On the bottom level use a trowel and lay a base of mortar for your first course of stones to set in. An inch or two of mortar is sufficient. Choose your stones (they should be at least softball size or larger) and place them carefully so that the corner stones line up just inside the string and the other stones are nicely spaced and with attractive sides facing out. Then begin to fill in all around them, packing the mortar without moving the stones. Be sure to get all the air pockets out and add enough on top of your first stones to place your second layer. Feel free to use much smaller stones to fill in the interior areas that will not be seen.

While working, do not worry about getting mortar on the outside of your stones. Keep a bucket of clean water and a sponge nearby and as long as you wipe the residue off within a half hour or so you will have no problem. You will find as you work that there is a certain artistry to this work and you can work with the mortar blending and shaping it for quite some time as it dries. In the same way, blending the mortar between the courses is easy and when you are done and all the mortar is set it will be impossible to see where one course of stones ended and another began. The mortar blends perfectly.

After you have set your first 2 layers of stones use your hands (always wearing gloves as you work, the mortar is very caustic to skin) to shape the mortar and push it into place where you want it as it dries. After the mortar has begun to set, work with the water and sponge smoothing the mortar and shaping it and cleaning off the outsides of the stones so they do not have a film on them. In this way you will proceed with all the courses of stone until the columns are as high as you want them to be. When you reach your desired height be sure to have the top be as level as possible and then add capstones of some type to give it a finished look. We used travertine tiles attached by building a jig to hold them in place while the mortar dried since we had to work around an existing post.

For our final step we beefed up the posts by wrapping them in 1 x 6 lumber, and trimmed the tops and bottoms with 2 x 2 lumber. Be sure to prime and paint all wood surfaces to protect against rain and water intrusion.

This is a great Do It Yourself project. It can be time consuming, each section of work may take a couple of hours when you take into account mixing the mortar, laying the stones, doing the finishing work and cleaning your tools, but the results are satisfying and well worth it for this classic look.

Your Air Conditioner Maintenance Guide

Performing regular maintenance checks on your air conditioning unit can help to save you money in the long run, and keep your unit functioning at its optimal level. Air conditioning maintenance will help to ensure that your machine will last longer, but just how should one go about carrying out proper maintenance?

Tips To Use When Carrying Out  Air   Conditioner  Maintenance Checks

1. Check Filters And Indoor Coil

In order to check the filters you need to remove them from the unit. Once you have done so you can then clean the filters. This is achieved simply by cleaning the sides with a gentle antiseptic solution, the same as you would commonly use in your home. Make sure that you rinse the filters properly when you are finished. Ensure that there is no debris left on the filters. Next you need to your attention to the indoor coil. Locating the indoor coil is easy if you own a ductless unit. Make certain that it is not dirty or covered in any kind of debris, like hairs, for instance. If the coil needs cleaning simply use the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner.

2. Check And Clean The Outdoor Unit

When checking the outdoor unit it is important that you remove any obstructions. Obstructions include things like leaves, weeds, and so on. When you clear these away your unit will no doubt function better. It is also necessary to clean the outlet and make sure that the air flow is good, which brings us to the next tip.

3. Check For Proper Air Flow

Make sure that there is the right amount of airflow, because when the airflow is not suitable it clearly suggests that the coil is blocked. Alternatively, it can also indicate that the fan motor is failing. Any time that your unit is not providing good airflow it is advisable that you turn to the professionals. It is better to let an experienced professional handle the problem than be left with a unit in need of serious repair.

4. Look For Rust And Corrosion

Rust and corrosion needs to be stopped as soon as it is noticed anywhere on the air conditioning system. If the rust problem is a minor one you can simply cover over it with a waterproof paint suitable for use on that kind of surface. If it is a major problem you should consult with a professional.

5. Check Cooling And Heating Abilities

You need to set the system to both the cooling and heating modes when you check it. You will probably need air conditioning repair if the unit does not switch easily between the two. This problem usually arises when the reversing valve is faulty and this must be repaired by a qualified professional.

In Closing

Most of the problems that people experience with their  air   conditioner  systems arise simply because they are not routinely maintained and looked after. If you put in the effort and take care of your system, it will provide you with years of service. Any  air   conditioner  will function better and work properly if they are kept clean and free of obstructions, dirt, and grime.

If you find that your unit does not function properly, even after you have carried out the maintenance routine, then you should consult with a professional.

Hitachi 6 Gallon Pancake Air Compressor

This is Leroy and I am here to tell you how excited I am about this compressor. The compressor is very quiet with quick replenish time and very portable. I really like this compressor because it runs on 120V household current and maintains its pressure levels with no problem.

It can also last quite a while unplugged if you don’t have an electric outlet handy; this makes it a good tool for any job site or just around the house for quick fixes. I have used mine in a number of ways besides the usual for my pneumatic tools. It’s great for adding air to low tires and many other small projects. The gauges are on the front and easily to read which I like as well.

It has an easy to use drain ball valve to keep any moisture out of the air and being oil-free you don’t have to worry about oil possibly staining your project especially when you are using a brad nailer or finish nailer. You certainly don’t want oil penetrating your woodwork.

Another nice feature I really like is that it has complete shrouding that protects it during transport and also protects me from hot surfaces, which I have learned the hard way from other types of compressors and is not pleasant.

This compressor has been a very good addition to my tool collection for all the handyman things I do and just around my shop for quick projects so that way I don’t have to use my big compressor. This compressor is truly for any Handyman or Professional.

How to Seduce a Girl Online – The "Online Chat Seduction" Method

Listen up guys – if you are not gaming women online then you are missing out. It’s extra easy to get a girl to like you online if you know the exact strategies that master seducers use to seduce women online. Read on to discover the “Online Chat Seduction” method and use it to achieve killer results fast…

This method might sound deceptively easy, but it has never failed to give me the results that I want. It hinges on the three ‘pillars’ of female psychology – and if you are able to nail the three elements then women will fall for you online without fail…

Pillar #1: Humor. Women get online to get entertained. Nothing turns them off more than a boring guy. You have to therefore come across as an interesting guy who is fun to be with online. And it’s really simple to do…just use humor!

So when you get online and chat with a girl – remember that your NUMBER ONE objective is to make her laugh, and laugh some more. By getting her entertained, she will associate her happy feelings with you, and want to stay and chat with you more.

Warning – you do not want to OVERDO this and become a dancing monkey. Get her to laugh at your jokes, not at YOU.

Pillar #2: Control. Men who are in control are highly attractive to women. The way to demonstrate ‘control’ online is to be patient. Don’t rush into things – and also remember that if she likes you, she will TEST you. You must pass her tests by staying calm and collected at all times.

Pillar #3: Trance. Online chatting is an excellent way to get a woman in a trance (and subsequently make her fall in love with you). Usage of hypnosis is very effective when it comes to seducing women online – because you can practically CONTROL what she reads, and you have got

Hypnosis (particularly the fractionation technique) is very powerful online indeed – expert seducers have been known to make women fall in love in as little as 15 minutes upon using this technique. Controversial stuff.

Create Your Order Form For 2009

Whatever you desire does not have to be important to others, only to you.

You know what you want in the areas of work, finance, family, personal development, spiritual development, social and intimate relationships, fun, and health. Or, maybe you sort of know what you want.

One way to amp up your energy and enthusiasm about a dream, goal, or desired outcome is to look at it more thoroughly than you may have. If you answer the questions I list here, you’ll get clearer and create an order form that offers guidance so you can move forward.

Get a sheet of paper and a pen or create   columns  in a document on your computer. Pick something about your life or business you want to see happen.

First  column : Write what you don’t want (tangibles rather than feelings). If you want ten new clients a month or a relationship, you’d write something like I don’t want less than ten new clients a month; I don’t want clients who don’t pay, don’t have a sense of humor, etc. Or, I don’t want a relationship with someone who doesn’t share my core values; is emotionally or otherwise unavailable, etc.

If you believe that positive thinking means you shouldn’t focus on what you don’t want, this is called denial. What you don’t want is rambling around in your subconscious anyway. You might as well give it an opportunity to be heard. Self-sabotage usually happens when our conscious and subconscious thoughts conflict. Get the don’t-wants out instead of keeping them hidden.

Second  column : Write what you don’t want to feel (afraid, unsuccessful, taken for granted, overworked, confused, etc.). Go ahead and give voice to any and every such feeling.

Third  column : Write what you do want (ten or more new clients a month; meet and get to know one or more new people also interested in a relationship, etc.).

Fourth  column : Write what you do want to feel. List everything until nothing else comes up (valued, appreciated, respected, confident, on purpose, fulfilled, etc.).

Fifth  column : Write why you want it. Really let loose with this one. Whatever your why is, let it talk to you. When you find your why and it’s compelling, you amaze yourself with the inspired ideas and actions that come to you. If your why isn’t compelling, check to see if it’s a case of “It would be nice . . .” rather than “I intend it” (wish vs. commitment).

Sixth  column : Write how you will feel once you have this.

Seventh  column : Write how others will feel once you have this. How will your new clients feel when they work with you as a confident, fulfilled person? How will your staff and/or family feel when they see you feeling so good? How will the person you move towards or into a relationship with feel about being around you, especially if you feel happy with yourself and your life?

Eighth  column : Create a statement that helps you amp up your energy about this. You want a statement you can really buy into. If, at this time, you feel unsure about getting ten new clients a month or finding someone who wants to be in a relationship with you, writing that you have something as a given won’t work because you’re not on board with it yet. And, that’s fine. What about this: I want to believe that I can find a way to get ten new clients a month (or meet someone I eventually share a relationship with). See how this is a true statement but it doesn’t put pressure on you?

Ninth  column : Next actions. Maybe one or more next actions come to you now or came to you as you wrote your responses. If not, not a problem. Write that you ask to be shown one or more next actions and know that because your focus is on getting them, you will.

Each morning, write your statement. What you’ll notice is that it will change as you open to next actions and/or take them. You’ll move from I want to believe to I believe to I can to I will to I have or I am.

I wish you a wonderful new year and a new year filled with wonders.

Cutting Mat – The Power Of Purchasing A Good Quality Cutting Mat

Everyone who is active in the arts and crafts hobby knows the fact that the cutting mat is an extremely essential equipment to have when making crafting projects. The mat could also be used by those who are into putting together model kits similar to Gundams, RC Automobiles, Remote control jets and many more. Right now there are individuals who use this mat in most woodworking projects.

The primary purpose of the cutting mat is to try to make certain you don’t unintentionally damage your furniture or perhaps worktops. It’s well known that accidents can happen and our little ones (or perhaps us) might mistakenly damage a costly desk.

Almost all of the mats presently are actually imprinted with grid lines and various measurements that helps make highly accurate slices for regular sewing or even quilt making and many others. There are several forms of mats around and the cutting mats for sewing and quilt-making might demand surfaces which are a little sticky or rough to stop shifting the fabric a lot.

Mats also come in almost all forms and dimensions. You will discover mats that happen to be constructed from wood or bamboo which are normally used to cook with or in your kitchen. There are actually those which are made of rubber as well as plastic. As a result of my past experiences however, a mat that would be self healing or a self healing cutting mat has always been the best option.

A good self healing cutting mat offers self healing traits that enable it to reseal on its own after every single slice like magic. This kind of mat is well known for its durability and also robustness. This specific mat is known to be friendly with the cutting blades helping it to minimize the blunting of the cutting blades in contrast to mats that contain tough surfaces. This allows you to cut costs down the road from having to buy and also change the cutting blades over and over again.

When acquiring a self healing cutting mat, it is important to pick one that is at least 3mm thick and is also a minimum of 12 x 18 larger. This specific dimension is perfect for different kinds of crafting projects. Never select a smaller or slimmer mat specifications since it is not going to offer you the best possible security which you’re after.

Be cautious when picking a cutting mat and never ever go with the cheapest option. Poor mats will wear quickly and are definitely not worth the investment. It’s best to opt for a high quality self healing cutting mat that could present your furniture durability and protection.

Carpet Cleaning and Tile Or Hardwood – Best Methods For Ensuring Effective Long-Term Cleanliness

Every office or commercial business has different needs for maintenance; especially floor maintenance. Floor tile or carpet cleaning is not the same from one area to the next. Different regions have to deal with specific problems. In the southern states sand, mud and pollen wreak havoc on carpet. On the West coast similar challenges exist due to the overall climate conditions. Pennsylvania and New England have additional condition with which to contend: salt, sand, water, mildew, pollen. The list is never ending.

The best solution for keep the carpet or tile clean is to contract with a professional carpet and floor cleaning company to perform deep cleans a few times per year. Depending upon the volume of traffic, the carpet and other floor surfaces may require more frequent attention. The alternatives can be surprising and quite expensive.

Normal dirt from day to day operations is expected. When sand and salt are thrown into the mix wear and tear on carpets and hard floor surfaces can cause the flooring to degrade very quickly. Salt and sand will act as scouring agents and will dull and etch tiles and hardwood floors. Carpets will be detrimentally affected as well. The sand and salt will sift down into the carpet and dull the color and texture and weaken the fabric.

With regards to tile and hardwood flooring, it is important to regularly maintain the wax finish coat or other type of protective sealant. Sand and other granulated materials can weaken and erode grout joints encouraging the joints to crack and crumble. Carpeting requires regular vacuuming. Surprisingly, vacuum beater bars can actually cause dirt and other contaminants to recede further down into the carpet fibers, which cause the carpet to fray.

The best way to combat the negative effects of these and other contaminants is for tile and hard floor surfaces to be stripped periodically. Stripping a floor requires specialized equipment to do it efficiently. After the floor finish has been stripped the stripping chemical must be removed and neutralized. Because of this labor intensive process, it does not make sense for most companies to service their own flooring.

Carpeting requires deep steam cleaning to remove embedded soil, pollen and other contaminants. Steam helps to relax the fibers of the carpet and loosen the embedded debris. Once this has been achieved it becomes easier to remove the dirt and restore the carpeting to a brighter and cleaner look.

In certain situations steam cleaning carpets or stripping a tile floor may not be a viable option. There are other methods to clean flooring. The professional carpet cleaning company will be able to recommend the best solution for the specific carpet and environment.

How to Clean Oriental Carpets

A home just seems incomplete without the perfect carpeting or rug. Rooms that have bare floors are less inviting and not as comfortable. Oriental carpets and rugs are used to complete a room and give it an elegant and fashionable look. These types of carpets and rugs can be a very costly item to buy for a home. While finding the perfect rug may not be that difficult, keeping it requires work and commitment. When you buy from a retailer they will often tell you how to clean Oriental carpets or recommend resources where you can learn this information. All rugs need to be cleaned periodically to keep them looking well and increase their longevity. Remember that cleaning may not be an easy task but must still be done. When you are learning how to clean Oriental carpets and rugs, be sure to find out the most effective and least time consuming methods available.

How to Clean a Persian Rug – Not all Rugs Are Cleaned the Same Way

Maybe you have already tried to clean an Oriental carpet or rug at home and had disastrous results. This is because all web instructions are the same but don’t fit every type of rug. Each type of rug has specific guidelines, rules and tips that apply to only that type of rug. Attempting to clean some carpets and rugs on your own can sometimes end up as a very costly mistake. Different cleaning methods must be used for each type of rug and only an expert that has familiarized themselves with specific types of rug cleaning can tell you what methods are safe. Call a professional that knows how to clean a Persian rug before doing it yourself. They can tell you if this is something you should do or if professional cleaning is the smarter choice.

How to Clean a Wool Area Rug – Home Cleaning

Some Oriental carpets and rugs can be cleaned at home. Remember to consult with a professional company for information on how to clean a wool area rug before actually attempting home cleaning. Oriental carpets and rugs are very fragile and should be handled and cleaned with care. It is very important to educate yourself on the appropriate cleaning methods and techniques for the type of rug or carpet you have. Gathering information on how to clean a wool area rug can help the process go smoothly and increase the chances of an undamaged rug after cleaning. Lay the rug on a flat surface outside and vacuum both the front and back. A mild detergent or liquid soap can be used for cleaning. Take a soft brush and rub the carpet lightly in a straight line. Scrubbing too hard can damage the fibers. This process requires you to be careful and precise. The choice comes down to price or convenience. Doing cleaning on your own can cost less if no damage is done but takes time and work. Having commercial rug cleaning done may cost a little more but protects your rug and frees your time for other things.

Do It Yourself Fencing Repair – Replacing Posts in Fence Made Easy

Do it yourself fencing repair can be a challenge for the inexperienced but it doesn’t have to be. Knowing times are tough and as a thirty year veteran I will try to make fencing repair, changing rotted fencing posts and replacing panels in your fence doable for those who like to do it yourself and save money. I will address:

* Do it Yourself Fencing Repair

* Replacing rotted Fence Post

* Cedar fence Fence Post

* Treated Wood Post

* Galvanized Metal Fence post

* Changing a Wood Fence Picket

* Adding or Changing Fence Rail

There are as many How to Wood Fence and Fencing Repair as there are nails in fence pickets. The way that I describe here has worked for me here in the Dallas Texas metro area for many years.

Do it yourself fencing repair: Is easy if you go about it the right way but is very hard if you go about it the wrong way and can get very frustrating and costly.

Replacing Rotted Fence Post: Replacing posts in a Fence is one of the hardest things about fencing repair. I have seen DIYer’s try everything to get broken fence post out of the ground. One of my favorites is what I call the Grand Canyon. This is when a DIY will dig a hole so big around the fence post that they almost need a cement truck to bring in enough concrete to fill it. Have you ever dug a hole for a fence post? If so use the concept of digging a 8 inch diameter hole for a fence post against the concrete of the old fence post about 2-2 1/2 feet deep. Then take a sharp shooter shovel to clear a little dirt from each side of the concrete. Use post hole digger to remove the little bit of dirt that you loosened from the post hole. You now have a hole that is deep enough that with a little effort you can use a rock bar to lever the broken post and concrete into the hole you just dug so that it will be easy to lift out.

Put the new pole in the hole, take the old hard concrete and use as filler in the hole and put as much premixed wet concrete in the hole as needed to fill to the ground level then plumb the pole with a level. You can then wait 24 hours for the concrete to harden around the new fence post the nail the fence panels to it or you can go ahead nail the old or new fence panels to it, re-level the post and then use an old fence board to support it.

If you would like the easier way out then you can install a new fence post in next to the existing so that you do not have to dig the wood post out.

Cedar Fence Post: Cedar is naturally highly resistant to rot, decay, warping and bugs when used above ground. If it is saturated with moisture when installed in the hole with concrete around it and dries out, it will shrink leaving a void that will take on water. This creates a premature rotting process. This can also happen at the ground level if the concrete is not poured to a level that will help repel the water away from the fence post. You can use a good weather treatment to soak the post end prior to installing to extend the like of a cedar fence post. I have used Behr and Olympic with good success.

Treated Wood Post: Pressure treated wood post have a chemical that is resistant to rot and bugs. The tag on the end of the post at most retail chains like (Home Depot or Lowes) will tell you if it is good for ground contact. I have seen a lot of Landscape timbers used for posts in a fence. These usually do not have the proper treatment that will give it the rot protection so unless someone is on a very tight budget I will not recommend this type of wood post for fencing. Pressure treated pine fence post can warp or check from drying and shrinking (looks like a split). To minimize warping and twisting make sure that you attach the fence panels with the correct screws or nails. They need to be long enough to penetrate through the rail and the post by 2 1/2 – 3 inches. Also make sure that it is a Hot Dipped Galvanized screw or nail so that the chemicals in the wood do not deteriorate them.

I have seen that pressure treated wood post will last several years but can dry rot at the ground level but you can also minimize this by soaking the part that will come in contact with the ground in a good weather sealant.

Galvanized Metal Fence Post: Galvanized Metal Fence Post are my choice to use for fencing a backyard or changing out a rotted fence post. When they are installed correctly they can last a lifetime. Diameter of the hole they are to be cemented in to should be 8 – 10 inches and the depth should be a minimum of 30 inches and up to 48 inches. The type of soil and ground condition as well as the freeze line for your area will dictate this. They will cost a little more but in my opinion are worth the difference. Make sure that you get a heavy gauge like a.095 and put a dome cap on it so that it doesn’t act like a rain gauge. The appearance is not as natural as wood fence post but this can be easily by boxing it with a fence board or two.

Changing a Wood Fence Picket: Changing a Fence Picket is almost self explanatory. In the Dallas Texas metro the choices of fence pickets are starting with the best then to the last are Cedar (3-4 different grades), Composite ( recycled materials like Trex, Correct Deck ), Pressure Treated Yellow Pine and Spruce – Fir – and White Pine ( These are all in the white wood category). The white woods typically have a longevity of 7 – 10 years unless a good weather sealant is applied.

Once again make sure that your screws or nails are of the proper length and either hot dipped galvanized or aluminum.

You can attach a fence board to the top of the pickets or a nylon string to use to keep the top straight as you fasten them to the rails.

Adding or Changing Fence Rail: I have had the most success changing a fence rail by leaving the fence panel attached to the post. Use a sawzall with a metal cutting blade. Slip the blade in between the rail and the post so you can cut the nails or the screws. Use a Wonder Bar and a hammer so that you can wedge it between the rail and the fence board. Pry the fence board away from the fence rail. Follow the same procedure with all the fence boards. Take the fence rail out. Cut the new one to the same length. Drive the nails through the fence picket leaving the nail in. Insert the rail. Hammer to nails back into the fence rail. You then can use 3 1/2 inch hot dipped galvanized nail to hammer through the rail into the fence post.

Day Spas Attached To Hotels Have Appealing Benefits

There are often day spas at upscale hotels, so if you are staying at this kind of lodging, you should look into getting treatment. Of course, there are also locations not attached to hotels, but there are a few advantages of going to a spa that is located within a hotel. You should find out the benefits of choosing this option.

One of the best parts about using day spas when you stay somewhere other than your house is that you will truly feel pampered during the experience. In most cases, when you stay somewhere else, you are on vacation, and are therefore ready to feel relaxed. Even if you are staying at lodging in the city you live in, you will likely have a calmer attitude than when you are simply returning home after any treatments you get. In this way, the relaxed feeling is likely to stick around longer when you are on vacation.

In addition, most hotels offer amenities you might not have at home, and you can use them directly after your appointment. For example, getting a massage and then getting into the hot tub at your hotel could be a great way to spend a weekend. Many lodging options also feature pools, golf courses, tennis courts, and other places for leisure activity, which should be perfect for when you are in a relaxed mood. These options can therefore be a good complement for the treatments you will find at most day spas.

Of course, there is the sheer convenience of getting a spa treatment and then walking back to your room. This way, you do not have to worry about driving or parking your car when you want to get spa services for your face or body. In addition, some day spas serve champagne or wine to help get you relaxed, and not having to drive is very beneficial in this situation. Plus, a relaxing stroll back to your room, where you can lie down or take a soothing bath, can be a good way to end a weekend at a spa attached to your hotel.

If you are interested in these benefits, you should start considering where you want to stay. You can go to another city on vacation, and simply choose lodging with an attached spa, or you can stay in your own city. Either way, you should find out the treatment options available, as well as the amenities at hotels you are considering, before making reservations.

Housing Developers Turn to Non-Slip Composite Decking Due To Its Many Advantages

As the construction industry throughout the world picks up pace, the increased number of developments and redevelopments is evident across most major cities. With many apartment and new housing communities coming up, outside areas and common spaces seem to be high on developers’ agenda. Stylish outside spaces add to the value of nearby houses and apartments.

A popular element of outside area development is the use of decking, which has traditionally been timber decking. From functional barbecue and dining platforms and walkways, through to surface, tree planter and bench cladding, continuations of the timber theme are numerous. With all elements of housing development, the quality and value of materials is paramount, and as well as their longevity, their on-going safety is of prime importance also.

Timber decking is undoubtedly a warm and pleasing medium to install throughout housing developments. From apartment balconies, to garden verandas, through to seating and recreation platforms in shared outside spaces. That is why timber decking was quite popular in the country from a long time.

However, over the recent years, the shortcomings with timber decking have repeatedly come to light. To begin with, timber decking requires regular cleaning. Failure to do so encourages the growth of fungus and algae. Not only do these both contribute to discoloration, but they hold water which provokes rotting and the risk of slips and falls, something that no development company would encourage.

In addition to the afore-mentioned problems, timber decking also requires to be stained and re-sealed as often as once per year. Failure to do this can result in splitting, warping and splintering. Add to the equation that timber decking may need replacing as often as every eight to ten years and it does not present itself as a value-for-money medium.

An ideal developer’s choice is a medium that combines wood particles with PVC. Composite decking is a non-slip decking solution that can be fitted swiftly throughout any modern development or redevelopment area. Available in a selection of styles and colours, once installed, composite decking will never need to be stained or re-sealed. And because it is so hard-wearing, it will retain its shape, never warping or splintering. Also, as it is a non-slip decking solution, the benefits to developers and house-buyers alike are immeasurable.

Although the initial cost of installation might be slightly more than some timber decking systems, the extended lifespan, reduction in installation and maintenance costs, and of course, eradication of slip and injury repercussions means that non-slip composite decking is a very attractive alternative for developers across the country.
