Variations of Scoring Cornhole Games

Okay, so you have the basics of how to play cornhole; you have practiced tossing and perhaps even competed with a friend or family member and now you want to know how the game is actually scored. There are numerous ways that people keep score, along with a variety of rules that they use to make the game interesting for themselves. This article will list a few of the various ways to score cornhole.

Baseball style

If you play the baseball style cornhole game, then it doesn’t matter whether the bean bags land except when they go in the hole. Each player will toss, one at a time, as they normally would, until all four bags each (eight total) are tossed. This will conclude one inning and they will add up any bags that made it through the hole. These will be considered ‘runs’.

Turn around and toss for the second inning. Continue to add up the ‘runs’ that are scored through nine innings and the person with the most ‘runs’ wins.

Traditional scoring

The more traditional method of scoring cornhole is that both players will play for a score of 21 (or 11, depending on each person’s preference). The players begin with zero and toss their first set of bean bags, alternating throws. The scoring is as follows: 3 points for each bean bag that is tossed through the hole, 1 point each for every bean bag that stays on the board. (Any toss that bounces on the ground and then rolls onto the board does not count).

When all four bags are tossed, the players add up their points. The player with highest total subtracts his or her opponent’s score from theirs and this equals the total points earned in that round. For example, Player A tosses 1 through the hole and 2 on the board and Player B tossed 3 on the board. Player A earned 3 + 2 points, or 5. Player B earned 3 points. Player A gets 5 – 3, or 2 points for that round. Score: Player A: 2, Player B: 0.

The players continue playing until one player reaches 21 points and is declared the winner. A variation on the scoring is that in order to win, a player must hit 21 points exactly. If they go over (for example, Player A had 19 points, tossed a bean bag through the hole -for 3 points- and Player B earned no points that round, then Player A has 22 points for the game), then that player will go back to 11.

You can play however the scoring is most comfortable for you and your family or friends. There is an endless array of possibilities when it comes to creative scoring for cornhole and the most important thing is to have fun. Unless your career is made by playing cornhole, the score should be the most minor aspect of what is a fun and exciting way to spend time with family and friends.

Outdoor Lighting – Create Wonderful Visual Effects with Illumination

Most present day houses use compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) for lighting purposes though there are a large number of homes that also use traditional tube lights and incandescent bulbs. In earlier days, candles and oil lamps were used for lighting purposes. Three popular methods of outdoor lighting are down lighting, up lighting and front lighting. Of all these three methods, down lighting is the most common one. In down lighting , light fixtures are recessed into the ceiling of a house or building. Up lighting is used in environments that require uniform general illumination and minimum amount of glare. A front lighting arrangement makes the subjects look flat with no visible shadows.

There are different forms of lightings like alcove, sconce and soffit. In alcove form, an indirect up lighting is provided into the area to be illuminated. A soffit is used for wall decoration purposes while a sconce is used for lighting the objects that are on the topside of a room. Different variants of light fixtures are available in the markets now days. While some fixtures are plain and simple, others may be some piece of art in them.

Most common types are accent, task and general lighting. Accent lighting is mainly decorative and is used to illuminate plants and other elements of landscapes. Task lighting is a concentrated form of lighting and is commonly used for reading & material inspection purposes. A general lighting is used for outdoor places like parking lots and pedestrian crossings that require less illumination. One should take measures to protect his lighting equipments from fire and other natural disasters. One should follow the specifications and installation instructions of manufacturers to avoid any accident during fixation of lighting equipment.

Creating a good lighting design requires complex planning. One has to take various factors into account while creating a design for a lighting appliance like energy requirement and its aesthetic impact on the surroundings. Complex lighting design may require elaborate mathematical modeling. Large areas with irregular floor plans may require special softwares for their illumination. These softwares generate a number of contour charts that show the effect of lighting on the area under consideration. Zonal Cavity Method is commonly used to calculate the effect of light reflected from the walls and ceiling of a room on the overall illumination of the room.

Proper lighting is a key element of home furnishings and interior designing. Outdoor lighting may be affected to a great extent due to various factors like lamp burnout, dirt accumulation on fixtures and ageing of lamps. Lighting appliances are an integral part of any home decor course. One should make conscious efforts to optimize the use of electrical power in one’s house. One should make maximum use of natural and sky lights in his rooms. These days, digital lighting are extensively used in motor vehicles. Such lighting is controlled by a computer. One can get a pattern of colours by the use of these lights. One should use quartz halogen lighting for outdoor illumination. One should follow the instructions of lighting equipment manufacturers while installing fixtures for outdoor lighting. Any deviation would leave a negative effect on the overall illumination of the area.

The Benefits of Track Lighting

More and more, track lighting is becoming an essential part of the home lighting designer’s tool box. This cost efficient, easy to install lighting technology is great both for the professional and for the do-it-yourselfer who wishes to improve their home. Though track lighting is earning popularity throughout the entire home, it is becoming especially popular in the kitchen and the living room.

Before, the kitchen was simply a room for food to be cooked; nowadays, however, the kitchen is becoming a gathering place for families. Studying is being done at the kitchen table while dinner is being prepared. Along with the family, parties and guests are being entertained in the kitchen. It is for this reason that an efficient, clean method of lighting be used. Too many times a single bright light is installed in an attempt to illuminate the entire; this results in undesired glares off of surfaces as well as a strain on the eyes when reading or preparing food. This issue can be avoided by using multiple lights that shine indirectly around the area as well as on specific task spaces.

Track lighting is excellent for this use since the light fixtures can be easily adjusted as to where they are focused, allowing the homeowner to point focused light at functional areas such as the counter where food is prepared, the stove, and the island in the middle of the kitchen where children may do their studying. This focused lighting method takes much of the strain off the eyes and also increases safety when slicing and preparing food since it is much easier to see the work that is being performed. The ambient light that can be produced by track lighting is very beneficial as well, since the warm light that they generate does not create a glare. Ambient light can produce an inviting environment that can completely transform the mood the room gives off.

In the living room, proper lighting is essential; more than most rooms, studying is done here as well as the entertainment of guests. Many homes use the living room as an entertainment room with the television being the center of focus, as well. Track lighting has the ability to illuminate the room without creating cross-glare on the television screen and it will also increase the amount of useful light in the room. In an effort to create the illusion of a larger space, track lighting can be used; the close to ceiling track lights allow for more room between the floor and ceiling, making it appear as though there is more head room. In addition, the proper track lighting practices can create a larger feeling space by reducing the clutter of lamps and hanging lights, while still permitting ambient light to flood the room with a warm glow. Pieces of art and decoration benefit greatly from track lighting as well, because the focused track lighting fixtures can be pointed toward them and in order to gain more attention.

These easy to install light fixtures are a superb choice for any homeowner or interior lighting designer due to their numerous functions. In home lighting, few lights can compete with the level of functionality that track lighting offers.

Installing Roof Leak Barriers – Ice Dams and Valleys

In Ice Dam protection, install Leak Barriers 24″ inside of the warm wall anywhere the roof is subjected to ice dams or freeze-thaw cycles. When installing leak barriers in snow areas using wrapping fascia method (under drip edge method). Remove the gutter so the membrane can be wrapped down the fascia, cut into 10′-20′ lengths so to be easier to handle, install full width of membrane, turn down fascia 2″ minimum, roll back top half of membrane to remove release film, remove release film to install to the deck, seal the membrane using a roller, for safety reasons back nail every 18″ along selvage film, roll back the bottom half to remove the release film, remove release film to install to the deck and fascia, seal membrane again with a roller, extend laps 6″ minimum at any seams, again, hand roll these laps to seal.

Do not leave membrane exposed it is not designed to be exposed for long periods of time to the elements. Re-install the gutter; do not forget to re-attach all leader pipes. Install non-corroding metal drip edge, aluminum or galvanized steel. Nail drip edge every 8″-10″.

For full roof deck coverage, extreme ice and wind protection, full roof deck coverage is allowed, installing a leak barrier over an entire roofing deck is allowed on GAF-Elk Roofing Systems and GAF-Elk enhanced warranties. Because leak barriers are vapor retarders, ventilation precautions must be taken, they may result in moisture related problems with the roof deck and the structure in the attic.

For problems with installing valley metals: Valleys carry extreme amounts of water, they are a natural center for leaks and leak barriers will seal off these leaks. Valley metals move, buckle, and crack, the metals expand and contract all of even the best metals are subject to this movement. Metals corrode even the strongest metals are known to corrode.

Installing closed valleys with shingles and Leak Barriers results in awesome looking waterproof valleys. The benefits of closed valleys with Leak Barriers are to seal the roof deck, and to seal the roof nails to the roof securely. This results in more waterproof confidence and less labor, it is easier and quicker to install and results in a more waterproof roof. Not to mention a better, more finished look and feel to the roof itself. Finishing a valley with shingles leaves a roof with a cleaner look, when using metal; the metal will rust and discolor the roofing over time.

When installing leak barriers in valleys, cut Weather Watch or StormGuard roof deck protection into manageable working lengths, 6′-10′, place over the valley center line starting from the bottom up, extend past the eave of the roof area to entirely cover the eave and the valley. Remove split-back release film form one side and firmly press into place, making sure to press from the center line out to eliminate bubbles that may occur. If you need to reposition, do so now. Now, remove the split back film from the second side, again, firmly press into place removing all air bubbles. Extend this past the valley peak to fully seal and cover the leak prone transition area. Lap joints, if needed, if more than one length is needed to cover the valley. The use of valley metal is required by some building codes and when completing a valley in the open cut method.

Slate Tiles – A Floor Friend Or Foe?

While your favourite type of flooring is a matter of personal choice, slate tiles would have to be near the top of the list, right?

Slate is a beautiful and hard wearing natural stone product, which makes it ideal for flooring anywhere from a small entrance to a hotel foyer. Slate is a metamorphic rock consisting primarily of quartz, chlorite, mica and calcite.

Because it is quarried direct from the source and then merely cut to size, slate retains its unique characteristics, colour variations and texture. All of these special qualities and more are what make slate such an appealing choice for designers and architects.

In addition to its aesthetic qualities, slate tiles are naturally slip resistant, non-combustible, and impermeable to water, the colours won’t fade over time, slate isn’t affected by extremes of temperature and it is impervious to chemicals.

With so many qualities going for it, it’s hardly surprising that slate is increasing in popularity as more homeowners discover these distinct properties and the latest extensive array of colour variations.

But it is the very qualities that make slate tiles so unique that also lead to problems if left in the hands of amateurs.

So let’s look at the points you have to take into consideration when laying slate tiles so you can have a floor you’ll be proud to display.

* Slate floor tiles need to be laid on a solid surface that is clean and rigid. Slate is a very inflexible material, so damage can occur if there is any movement.

For more information about how to lay the correct substrate, consult a professional.

Once your substrate is constructed, clean the surface thoroughly. Remove all dirt particles, old adhesive, sealers, grease or paint.

* If the floor you want to tile has more than a 3mm fall, thickset adhesives need to be used.

* Slate tiles naturally vary in thickness by up to 5mm, so you will need to make allowances in the amount of adhesive and grout applied to obtain a flat surface. Your installer can give you advice on how thick the adhesive needs to be and the correct type of adhesive to use.

* Because of the variations in thickness and also the variety of colours in each tile, it makes good sense to remove all slate tiles from the pallets and complete a ‘dry run’.

* Depending on the look you want to achieve, move the tiles around during the ‘dry run’ until the tonal variations suit you. Aim to lay the thickest tiles towards the centre of the area you are tiling with the thinner tiles towards the edges. The thickest tiles will dictate the overall height, while the thinner tiles will need to be built up with extra adhesive.

* If the slate needs to be cut, select the thinnest tiles and use an angle grinder or electric saw with a masonry disc.

* Slate tiles often have flaky or loose layers which need to be removed with a paint scraper prior to laying. Ensure you remove excess layers before you begin your ‘dry run’ as the thickness may alter.

* Because slate floor tiles vary in size, a space of between 6mm and 10mm is required between tiles. Although a spacer is generally recommended to create a uniform look, this can be difficult with slate.

* Once the grouting has been allowed to set and harden for at least 24 hours, the tiles need to be thoroughly cleaned with a high pressure water jet. Allow the tiles to dry and inspect the total look before proceeding to the final stage.

* To preserve the natural look and appeal of slate floor tiles, a penetrating sealant is recommended. This type of sealant forms an invisible barrier beneath the surface of the tile, which repels contaminants and enables internal moisture to escape. A penetrating sealant preserves the natural colour and sheen of slate tiles and makes them a breeze to keep clean.

Alternatively, to enhance the natural colour of the slate, a water based surface sealer is an option in either a low sheen or gloss finish.

As long as you take care with the preparation and installation of slate tiles, you will have a beautiful floor that will continue to surprise and delight you 20 years from now.

Are Asbestos Ceiling Tiles Dangerous?

Asbestos ceiling tiles were installed a lot prior to the 1970’s and even up to the 1990’s so if your home, apartment or business has ceiling tiles and was built prior to the 1970’s, then there’s a good chance that it has asbestos ceiling tiles.

The problem is identifying whether or not they contain asbestos. As asbestos fibre was mixed in with the plaster it’s very difficult to tell unless you remove one and take it to a local laboratory.

Is there a danger with asbestos if it’s not removed? Asbestos is actually fine as long as it’s not disturbed, but if you are considering remodeling or renovating then this is an area that should go, but, take enormous care with handling of them if you are unsure whether they contain asbestos. If you break one the asbestos filaments will be released for sure. They are microscopic but once inhaled they will stick around inside your lungs and may cause a lung disease called mesothelioma which is a lethal lung tumor.

Brief history of asbestos Asbestos has been around since the first century (well actually it’s a mineral and has been around forever) when the Greeks discovered it’s huge benefits for heat insulation and numerous other things and it has been used ever since – well until the 1990’s when asbestos factories and manufacturers discovered that a lot of their workers were getting ill and dying.

Typical items that contain this toxic mineral are asbestos ceiling tiles, vinyl flooring, cement, heating ducts, sprayed-on wall and ceiling plaster, textured paints, blown-in insulation, roof tiles or shingles, sealants, sprayed-in fire-retardant items, and many thousands of additional items.

Acoustic asbestos ceiling tiles In the 1960’s and 1970’s asbestos ceiling tiles were a runaway success as acoustic tiles for both apartments and businesses. They were used for suspended ceilings and in this form electrical and cooling and heating ducting could be concealed above them. They looked attractive at the time and had this great benefit do were widely used. Of course, having ducting passing above them could cause the asbestos fibre to swirl around causing huge danger to workers.

There are professionals available to remove asbestos ceiling tiles if you are required or want them removed. You can do them yourself but you will need all sort of decontamination equipment and so the cost of either buying this or hiring it may simply outweigh the cost of hiring professionals to do this work for you.

Wholesale Hardwood Flooring – Isn’t That Just For Retailers?

You can buy wholesale hardwood flooring directly from the major manufacturers such as Dupont, Armstrong, Mohawk, Hartco and others. Usually hardwood flooring at a wholesale price is reserved just for wholesalers or for flooring retailers. However, many companies do offer their customers the chance to purchase wholesale hardwood flooring at prices far below the retail price, even though they may not actually be as low as wholesale.

One of the ways you can save money by buying wholesale hardwood flooring is to look at the selection of laminate hardwood flooring. The difference in the price of laminate flooring as compared to solid wood will make it seem as you are buying wholesale wood flooring. With the recent advancements in the manufacture of laminate flooring, it is much harder to tell the difference between laminate and hardwood. You can kill two birds with one stone – you get the flooring you want at a wholesale price and you get the look of hardwood that you always wanted.

Hardwood flooring wholesalers often offer customers the chance to buy hardwood flooring at a wholesale price. These events are usually an annual event when the wholesalers want to clear out their warehouses to make room for more stock. You buy the wholesale hardwood flooring as is, which could include some damaged boards or there may only be a small supply of certain woods or finishes. You do need to make sure that you buy enough hardwood because if you do spoil a few boards or run out before you get the room completed, you may not be able to get the hardwood to finish it.

Even when you are buying wholesale hardwood flooring, the sales staff will help you choose the right color to suit your furniture. If you are not sure how to calculate the amount of hardwood flooring you need, hardwood flooring wholesalers will do this for you and many of them also have delivery service available as well. Wholesale wood flooring sales usually draw large crowds of homeowners who are either building a new home or considering a remodelling project.

Wholesale hardwood flooring is available in all grades of hardwood. This is an excellent way to get the best quality hardwood for your flooring needs at prices you would expect to pay for the lesser quality boards. Even if you plan a flooring project in the future, you can buy the wholesale wood flooring and store it until you are ready to use it. However, hardwood flooring wholesalers will not accept a deposit with this type of sale or agree to keep it in the warehouse until you are ready. You do need to have a place in which to keep your wholesale hardwood flooring.

5 Common Causes of Premature Damage to Swimming Pool Pumps

A good quality swimming pool pump should last a minimum of 5 years and with proper care can sometimes last upwards of 15 to 20 years. Typically at some time during that period, the pump will start getting loud indicating that the front bearings are going out. This is a sign that the pump will need to be replaced soon. For some pool pump motors the bearings can be replaced, but in most cases it is not a cost efficient solution and it makes more sense to simply replace the motor. For situations where the motor starts getting loud before 5 years, or if this is not the first pump you have replaced in a short period of time, usually there is a simple explanation for the problem. Following are the most common causes that lead to excessive pool pump motor damage that results in premature motor replacement.

Excluding age, the number one reason residential pool pumps start going bad and need to be replaced earlier than necessary is water starvation. A swimming pool pump needs to have a constant supply of water to function properly. Without it the motor will quickly overheat leading to permanent damage to the motor and possibly the pump housing also. There are several common reasons a pump can get starved of water.

1 – Water Level In the Pool Is Too Low – it seems so obvious but is the number one reason pool pumps overheat. If the water level falls below the skimmer intake there is a good possibility the pump will lose its prime and start running dry.

2 – Clogged Skimmer Basket – similar to an insufficient water level, if the skimmer baskets get clogged with debris that restricts the water flow to the pump, it will soon be running dry.

3 – Clogged Pump Basket – again, if the pump basket is neglected and gets clogged with debris, water will not be able to get past the debris, starving the pump of water.

4 – Pump O-Ring Missing – a mistake made more often than one would think is not replacing the pump lid o-ring after cleaning out the pump basket. Of course nobody does this intentionally, but sometimes it goes unnoticed that the o-ring has fallen off and the pump lid is replaced without it. The next time the pool pump timer comes on the pump will start pulling air instead of water.

5 – Cracked Pump Lid – on rare occasions, a hairline and very hard to detect crack will develop in the pump lid. When this happens the pump may operate normally sometimes, but may start pulling air at other times and lead to the pump running dry for extended periods of time. Over the long term, this can cause the pump to overheat and age prematurely.

Replacing a swimming pool pump prematurely can be very expensive and quickly turn into a big headache. Understanding the most common causes of unnecessary pool pump damage is the first important step to avoiding this unneeded expense. Once these concepts are understood, simply adding a few minutes on to the weekly pool maintenance routine to check for these 5 potential problems will help avoid any premature damage to the pool pump.

Lean Games – A Great Way To Train And Motivate Your Organization

Almost everyone who has had the task of motivating and training organizations in the lean principles has experienced a set of barriers, especially when dealing with people who are reluctant to buy into the Lean principles and Lean thinking.

How often have we not heard; “Well it sounds all right in theory but it will never work in real life!”

To a certain degree these people have a point. I have had to listen to numerous consultants and teachers who are preaching Lean principles, but without the ability to link the great theories to the real world.

And when they are challenged, the response often is: “Well it does work, just look at Toyota!” Guess what? That is not going to convince a sceptical production manager with many years of experience in a traditional batch production.

In my experience it is extremely important to be able to let the trainees see and feel how the lean tools can actually be the answers to many common challenges.

It is also a common fact, that people have different ways of learning, some are able to learn just by reading a text, while others need visual input – and Power Point slides are not the answer!

To deal with this, we have had great success in using Lean games as great way of demonstrating that the Lean tools and principles actually work in real life.

Actually our evaluations from our fundamental Lean training sessions were improved from just above average to top scores every time when we integrated lean games!

How to use a Lean game in a training session

The way we use it, is to initially train the students in the fundamental tools, not into great detail, but just a brief introduction.

And then move on to a Lean game session, where we simulate a production based on traditional batch principles.

Then we introduce some of the lean tools into the setup, and now everyone experience how each tool is affecting lead time, work in progress, quality and profitability.

Between the different game cycles it is important to get some valuable discussions on what the effect was of the changes.

It creates great involvement and motivation from the students, and even the greatest concrete heads are normally growing into lean manufacturing preachers.

As a side effect it’s great fun and gives a lot of good laughs. This is also an important factor if the students in the session do not know each other. Or use it as a team building tool, in the team you learn, you create ideas together and you have fun together, a common experience that improve the team feeling.

Which games are available?

There are different lean games available in the market. They all have different qualities and it is important to select a game that gives you the positive effects without being difficult to facilitate.

There is a new shop on the net with Lean games which are the exact games that we are using in our successful training session.

In a later article I will touch on the subject on how to assess what Lean game suits your needs best.

But you should at least consider some of these criteria:

  • – What numbers of participants are required?
  • – Is there a detailed and effective guide for the instructor?
  • – Playing time
  • – Which Lean tools are applied during the game?
  • – Setup time for the game

Further possibilities

There are many other situations, besides training sessions, where you can use the Lean games as a great tool. A good example is in the work with continuous improvements.

It is also a good idea to try to relate the game situation to the kind of products that the students are familiar with.

In this article I have only spoken about Lean games as a tool for teaching Lean principles in a production environment, but new games are evolving also for teaching how to apply lean tools in administrative processes.

Give Your RV Awning Some Support

If you have an awning on your RV greater than 18 feet in length, chances are that it’s sagging in the middle. When traveling down the road, a longer awning roller will tend to bounce up and down every time the RV bounces. Over time, this can cause the awning to sag, put undue stress on the awning support arms, and may even cause the support arms to become detached. This is the extreme case but nevertheless it can happen. So what to do? Do the awning center support mod.

There are a few ways to support the center of the awning. The simplest and one of the most effective is the awning support cradle. This is mounted to the side of the RV under the middle of the awning roller. It has a curved support surface that cradles the roller, preventing the awning from sagging. The cradle pivots out of the way when the awning is unrolled so there is no setup or removal of any parts.

There is also the awning roller strap. While this product isn’t directly designed to provide awning sag support, but does so as a bonus. It’s primary use is to prevent the awning from unrolling during travel. But due to it’s design, it does provide some support. The strap is affixed to the side of the RV just like the center support cradle described above. However, instead of supporting the weight of the roller from the bottom like the cradle does, it wraps around the roller and latches to its mount. This prevents the roller from unfurling and provides some addition vertical support.

Of course, all this could be easily, albeit more expensively, solved by installing an automatic retractable awning. Sunsetter and A&E are manufacturers of these types of awnings. They are costly but I think worth it for the convenience. But that is another mod for another day.

How to Build a Wooden Arch Bridge

Building a wooden arch bridge is not as hard as it sounds. Using two by twelve inch pressure treated boards for the main joist or beams is the trick. After selecting the site where you want the bridge to sit, measure across the water and add four feet or so to the width of the water below. You want the boards to span the stream in one piece and still bear on the ground on each side between one and two feet for support. Start off by preparing your footings for the ends of the beams to rest upon. You can use concrete or flat stones if you have them large enough but concrete will provide one level area for the full width of the bridge to sit on. If one end moves, they both move with the frost heave and so on. Dig a trench the width of the bridge, and about a foot wide and a foot deep on both ends of the bridge. Now pour the concrete and don’t forget to place a couple of pieces of rebar in the concrete for added strength.

While the concrete is drying, place your two by twelves on a good set of saw horses for cutting them to shape. Two by twelves ten, twelve, fourteen feet or longer are quite heavy and you may need some help handling them. Crown your boards so the crown is up on all the pieces. Locate the center line of each board end to end. Measure down on each end of the boards about 1 1/2 to 2 inches and make a mark. What you are going to do is create a line connecting the center line of the board to the end of the board two inches down on the ends creating an arc line. Draw one section and take a good look at it. Is it a smooth line? Does it weave up and down? If the arc looks good to your eye it probably is fine. This piece or wedge will be the template for all your other arc cuts.

Using an old skill saw that has a little play in the blade shaft is the real trick here. In a shop you could make a huge jig, use a band saw and so on but out in the field you improvise. You can carefully cut along the line you made by gently pushing sideways on the saw and it will curve around the arc. A jigsaw will do this but will take forever and the cut will not be nearly as smooth.

A helper can hold the cutoff piece to assure it does not snap at the thin end in the middle. After the cut is done use the cutoff piece to mark all the other arc cuts. You can of course make the arc steeper but do not cut away so much of the end of the board as to allow it to split under weight.

A two inch slope in six feet is quite noticeable.

The bridge assembly itself is pretty easy. Place each beam board on the footing in it’s proper location. Cut two boards for end plates the exact width you wish your bridge to be. Nail or screw these in place. The outside shape of the bridge is done. Now add all the rest of the interior joists.

I also added a couple of two by fours to the underside of the joists to keep them straight and prevent any future rollover. Using two inch by four inch Pressure Treated boards for decking provides added strength if you are crossing with a mower or other equipment. If only foot traffic is to be applied, 5/4 decking is sufficient. Screw each deck board in place leaving a small overhang on each edge as a drip edge.

The overhang will also conceal any messy cuts on the joists themselves. Handrails are an option

of course and are limitless in their designs. If this is a dangle your feet in the water bridge, you may not want handrails in the way. If this is a ten feet above the water bridge, I suggest you add some good strong handrails for safety.
