Socket Wrench Terminology For the Beginner

Welcome back to our series on automated hand tools for the beginner. If this is the first article you've read, do not worry – we will take it easy on you. As discussed in other articles when you are building your new tool collection it can sometimes be hard to understand what it is that you need exactly. The last thing I want to encourage anyone to do is spend more than you have to spend in order to get the best tools you can. However, before you can understand what it is you need, we need to get you ready to understand what it is the tool does. In this article I'm going to very briefly touch on what some terminology is that you are going to need to know while selecting the best tools for your job.

Drive – this reflects to the size ratchet that fits into the socket. Typically they are 1/4 ", 1/2" and 3/4 "" Drives. "The larger the ratchet, the more force you can apply to the socket and therefore to the nut or bolt that you are trying to turn. you can use adapters to switch the drive size between sockets it is not recommended as they often break. not mean for the workload you are asking of it.

Spark Plug Socket – This is a special socket specifically for spark plugs. It's typically identified by its wrench-friendly head on which you can place a wrench around the outside of it. They also have a soft rubber boot inside that is meant to protect the plug while you are installing it into the cylinder head.

Flex Handle – This is a ratchet that has a head which will flex up to 90 degrees in articulation. This allows you to work in areas that would otherwise not permit you to use a straight ratchet because of clearance problems.

Socket Extensions – This may be the most valuable thing to make sure you have multiple lengths of in all drive sizes. I personally have 3, 6, and 10 inch length extensions in every drive size at all times. They go in between the ratchet and the socket wrench to extend the reach of the socket so that you can get to nuts of bolts that a deep in your engine compartment. When shopping for a set, I'd recommend the style that locks on the socket end with a push button release. Extensions often will wiggle loose from the socket at the wrong time, so having a set that locks are a huge time saver. I'd also follow the typical recommendation to be sure that there are no sharp edges on the tool, and that the plating has an even appearance and feel.

Swivel – Think of this like it is a universal joint for your ratchet. It will allow to you turn a socket that is not perfect perpendicular in the direction in which you move the ratchet. This is another indispensable item, and follows the guidelines for sharp edges and plating as well.

Maintaining People Places & Retaining Staff

It should go without saying that there is no better way to maintain a carefully created People Place than to hang on to your existing loyal producers. Unfortunately, not nearly enough emphasis is applied in this area. Begin by taking note of who these employees are.

Retain Proven Performers

Utilize your existing personnel resources – be aware of the experience, skills and aspirations of current employees. Get out and be visible among your staff – they are your most valuable resource.

One of the leading causes of discontent is poor placement, the consequences of which are felt at all levels. Unfortunately, all too often these days, any available body is thrown at a position or a set of responsibilities and it's called a done deal. There's no better way for an employee to shoot himself in the foot, taking down an otherwise productive staff member with him.

If there are no openings available to rectify an existing misplacement, consider expanding the current responsibilities of valued staff members to maximize their valuable experience. Make the most of their know-how in other ways in your organization, such as implementing a mentoring program and offering the challenge to your trusted employees who have "topped out."

Perhaps these staff members would be interested in forming a team of administrative interviewers, or in developing and implementing an administrative orientation program. The possibilities are endless.

Sometimes there is a lateral move to a position that would better fit expanding skills, experience and changing interests. Go to great lengths to utilize your existing resources. It is always the less expensive, more efficient route.

Do not underestimate the power of simple recognition in retaining valuable staff. You may not have the wherewithal or the mechanism in place to reward staff members in a tangible way, but that should not keep you from establishing a program to single them out with a "pat on the back." A small gift at the next company function, a monthly recognition luncheon, a name in the employee news or on the bulletin board are simple and cost effective, but nonetheless expressions of appreciation.

Know Your Leaders From your Managers

There is perhaps no concept more important than this. Loyal employees can be forgiving of much, but misapplication in this area is often the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back. Much of the rest will be naturally addressed by one who knows the fundamental difference between these two concepts.

The rule of thumb here is:

Manage processes and procedures – lead, guide & teach people.

If you are experiencing problems, determine whether you and your leadership staff are confusing these two areas. While an effective management team will often need to be engaged in both, they are not interchangeable, and like oil and water, they do not mix.

It really is that simple, not unnecessarily easy, but definitely simple. It's no surprise that people respond to the human approach and there's little in management of humanity. By nature of the definition, leaders are out in front, rarely expecting of their followers what they have not first paved the way for. Occidentally leaders are bringing up the rear, but then only to protect the rear flank.

The mature leader possesses leadership sophistication, a ripeness of attitude, in relation to any given situation, that each member of the leadership team has gained as a result of experience. There is openness and a willingness to continue the personal growth process.

Interpersonal skills are of paramount importance. Leadership must be non-discriminatory, developing solid working relationships across all levels. This may appear to be blatantly obvious, but sadly is all too often overlooked in the name of accelerated organizational progress. Both leaders and managers must be willing to facilitate conflict resolution, as well as to confront issues surrounding relations between teams, departments and organizational levels.

An effective leader has a sincere concern for the success of those he leads, treating staff members as individuals, giving credit, taking pleasure in making people look good. A great leader keeps the objective as simple as possible, always promoting understanding, always acting as a role model, and standing out of the way, not interfacing unnecessarily, so staff can get on with their work.

An effective leader will make the difference between a successful administration and a failure. The most brilliant processes, designed and directed by the most capable managers will fall flat at some point if the leadership is not right. It is not necessary to prioritize purpose over people, or vice versa. If leadership has done its homework, everyone in the organization will arrive at the vision simultaneously.

How To Load Film Into The Minolta SRT Camera

Loading your SRT camera with a fresh roll of 35mm film is a simple matter. If you are new to the camera, however, you should take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the process in detail.

Get in the habit of never opening the camera back unless you are absolutely sure there is no loaded film inside. If you open the back while film is outside of the metal cassette, the film will be ruined. To check, flip up the crank handle on the rewind knob. Carefully turn the crank in a clockwise direction. If the handle spins freely, there is no film loaded in the camera, or the film has been safely rewound inside it’s protective cartridge.

If the handle will not turn, there is loaded film in the camera. You will need to rewind the film so you can safely open the back. Turn the camera upside down and press down on the clutch button. You will find the clutch located inside a small triangular shaped recess in the bottom. Press it down until it clicks and remains depressed. Return the camera to the upright position, then crank the film clockwise until the handle spins freely.

Now you can open the back. Grasp the rewind knob and pull upward in a slow, steady motion. As you pull the knob upward, you will hear a metallic click and the back will spring open. Swing the back fully open. If there is an exposed cassette in the camera, pull up on the same rewind knob and lift the cassette out.

Take a fresh roll and pull the leader out from the cassette about five inches. Place the cassette into the left side of the camera with the plastic nipple facing down. Lift up on the rewind knob to allow the cassette to fit into place, then press down on the knob to secure the film cassette.

Now take the film leader and drag it across the film platen so it fits over the dual sprockets. Insert the narrow part of the leader into the slots on the take up spool.

Once the leader is snagged onto the spool, crank the wind lever one time, watching to see that the sprocket holes engage the sprockets properly. If everything looks OK, close the back, pressing on the left edge until you hear it click into place.

Now wind the shutter lever two more times. To advance the film, you will have to press the shutter release each time the lever reaches the end of it’s movement. At this point, glance at the film counter. It should be pointing at 1. Do not be greedy. If you try to stretch your film by not advancing the film advance the full two frames, you will probably find the first image is fogged. So make sure to wind the full two frames.

Although the SRT has a robust film transport, if you do not engage the film onto the take up spool properly, it is possible for the film to slip free. If this happens, the film will not advance. In essence, you will wind up taking all your exposures on one single frame.

Minolta obviously realized this could be a problem, as they included a “Safe Load” indicator on later models of the SRT series. Do not be concerned if you own one of the majority of the SRTs that do not have this feature. It is easy to check if the film is loaded properly.

Use the same rewind trick described to check for loaded film. After you have closed the back and cranked the wind lever twice, flip up the film crank and carefully try to wind the film counter clockwise. (Do not press the clutch button) If you can move the crank more than half a turn, the film has probably slipped free. Wind it backwards a few more turns, open the back and reload the film properly.

If the film appears to be loaded OK, glance at the rewind knob when you advance the film. If film is moving through the camera, every time you advance the shutter, the rewind knob will turn counter clockwise.

After you have taken all the pictures on the roll, you must rewind it back into the cassette before opening the back and removing the cassette. If you have been paying attention, you already know how to do this. Depress the clutch button, then carefully rewind the film using the rewind knob. You will feel the film when it tugs free from the take up spool. Spin the knob a few more times until it spins freely. Now you can open the camera and removed the film for processing.

Solar Floating Lights Can Bring Illumination to Your Water Paradise

If you have a fountain or pool in your home, you may have considered different ways to go about illuminating them at night. There is no question about the fact that backyard lighting can be pretty pricey, especially on top of the costs that you already pay to light up your home and power the various appliances in it.

If you have not yet, consider the fact that solar floating lights can bring illumination to your pool without you having to pay a red cent for the power. If all of this sounds too good to be true to you, read on for more information.

The Benefits of Solar Floating Lights

If you have ever had floating candles before, chances are that you already know the ambiance that floating lighting can create. You can be the first on your block to have solar lighting for your pool or fountain, and best of all you will not have to worry about the water causing any damage to the lighting itself.

Solar floating lights require nothing from you in order to power them. During the day, solar panels soak up energy from the sun to be able to power them and emit the light needed to light up your pool or fountain. Once dusk hits, these lights turn themselves on and stay that way until the sun comes up. This means that no matter what time of night you look out onto your pool from your home, you will be able to see clearly.

These lights come in all varieties and sizes. Some of them can even change from one color into the other until they run the gamut, at which time the color spectrum begins again from the beginning. These lights are great for parties, casual use, or whenever you deem their use necessary.

The Drawbacks of Solar Floating Lights

There are not many drawbacks to the amazing technology that is solar floating lights, but the up front costs for such a revolutionary lighting option is a bit higher than it would be for a regular outside light that plugged into an electrical socket.

Solar floating lights are amazing, and they can bring an ambiance to your yard that you probably never thought possible. Imagine being able to swim in your pool at night and being able to see everything because the lights are right there in the pool with you?

Choosing The Best Suitable Color for Your LED Strips

Nowadays there is a wide variety of LED strips, available in the market. The most commonly used strips are RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color. By mixing these three colors, any color can be created. The intensity of each color must be controlled, in order to mix the colors and create the desire exit. LED strips are used in lighting design, specifically in coves or building exteriors to create an artistic view and different moods in the space.

Apart from RGB strips there are more colors available in the market, such as cool white or warm white color. Cool white is recommended for using in office or kitchen. Warm white is nice for the living room or TV area. If there is an area used both as TV area or reading, natural white color can be used.

A quite new technology is the RGBW LED strip, which combines the Red, Green and Blue colors with the White color. With this extra fixture, the user can create a clear white color. Previously, that was not possible, as by mixing only the Red, Green and Blue colors the white color is not very clear. This RGBW LED strip consists of two different chips, an RGB SMD5050 chip and a white chip, installed at the strip line and sold as RGBW strip.

Today, an innovative technology of the LED chip 5050, which combines red, green, blue and white colors (RGBW), is available in the market. This chip combines all in one SMD5050 package chip. Unfortunately, as it is the newest technology on LED strips, it is quite expensive. Although it is expected to become the new "must have" in lighting design.

Another brand new technology, relating the LED strips, is the constant current 24V LED strip series. This strip can be installed in longer runs and it has the ability to keep exactly the same brightness, from first to last LED chip, for up to 10 meters in a row. This technology is available for single color or RGB CC strips. They are driven by the usual constant voltage drivers (24V). As it is a new technology, it has higher price than normal CV strips. Although they are reliable, cause of the controlled drive currents, then it worth the money.

Therefore, there are different available colors for LED strips as well as different LED chip technologies. The choice has to be carefully made, according to the special needs of every application.

Overcoming Communication Barriers Between People

Good communication is not one and the same with talking other people into accepting your point of view. Regardless of how well you express yourself, it is impractical to think that others will always agree with you. However, others will understand you if you communicate well. When you send a message, you intend to communicate meaning, but the message itself does not contain the meaning. The meaning will be formed by your own perception and the perception of your receiver. To understand one another, you and your receiver must share similar meanings of communication. For instance, gestures, tone of voice, and other symbols.

OVERCOMING PERCEPTION BARRIERS

In the modern world we are constantly bombarded with information ‘packaged’ in different forms like sights, sounds, scents, and so on. Our minds organize this stream of feelings into a mental map that represents our perception or reality. Perception can be defined as our individual interpretation of the world around us. In no case is the perception of a certain person the same as the world itself, just as no two maps are identical. As you view the world, your mind absorbs your experiences in a unique and personal way. Because people have different ideas, they will also have different perceptions. If you go to restaurant, for example, you might be impressed by the art hanging in the restaurant and the good food served.

Another person might be impressed by the good parking space in front of the restaurant, but this person might not like the food served. This is caused by unique perceptions of individuals. So when two people experienced the same event like eating in the same restaurant, their mental images of that event will not be the same. As senders, we choose the details that seem important and focus our attention on the most significant and general. This process is known as selective perception. As receivers, we try to fit new details into our patterns that we already have. However, we have a strange habit of distorting information instead of rearranging patterns when we find out that a detail does not quite fit. Overcoming differences in perception may be difficult. For this reason it is important to predict how your message will be received by anticipating the receiver’s reactions. You must always try to avoid misunderstandings by constantly reshaping your message. A lot people have the habit of applying a single solution to every communication problem while it is much more effective to find specific solutions to solve specific problems. It is necessary to always frame your messages in such a way that will have meaning for your listeners. In turn, you have to frame your own mind in such a way that you will find something useful in every message you receive.

OVERCOMING INFORMATION BARRIERS

Information which we receive is always ‘filtered’ or abbreviated resulting in changes of the original messages. In business, the filters between you and your receiver are many; executives, assistants, receptionists, answering machines, etc. Just getting through by telephone can take a week if you are calling someone who is protected by layers of gatekeepers. The biggest problem is what will happen to your message when it finally arrives at your receiver. It will be digested, distilled, and probably distorted. The same will happen to the messages sent to you which will also be translated by the same gatekeepers. The same can be said when playing the childhood game of ‘Telephone’. One person starts with a specific message. It is whispered down the line from person to person. Finally, the last receiver repeats what they have heard. Nearly one hundred percent of the time the message is a jumbled mess. To overcome filtering barriers, try to establish more than one communication channel, try to eliminate the middlemen, and decrease distortion by condensing the information to the bare essentials.

OVERCOMING LANGUAGE BARRIERS

When choosing the words to develop your message, you are signaling to others that you are a member of a particular culture or subculture. This is implied by the tone and verbiage that you use. Each culture has its code in a sense. If you know the code, then you are or have been a part of that group. Your message will be experiencing barriers due to the nature of your code which consists of your language and vocabulary. For example, the language of a teacher differs from that of a police officer. This difference in their vocabularies will definitely have a profound impact on their capability to recognize and express ideas.

Barriers also exist because words can be interpreted in different ways. As we all know, language uses words as symbols to represent reality. This means that the word book can be automatically tied the physical thing that is a book. We might as well call a book a worm. Language is a random code that depends on shared definitions, but there’s a limit to how completely any of us share the same meaning for a given word.

Words are not really precise on the literal or denotative level. People in the West usually agree on what a book is. However, your idea of a book is a composite of all the books you have ever read: novels, school textbooks, telephone directories, and self-help guides. Someone from another culture may have a different range of book experiences: comics, religious guides, and cooking manuals. While you both might agree on the general concept of a book, but the precise image in your minds differs.

The differences on the connotative or subjective level are much bigger. Here feelings play a significant role because you might interpret a book by your feelings about it. You may have very positive experiences reading books. The books you have read really made a difference in your life boosting your knowledge and facilitating your progress at school in your job. However, you might not be fond of books because you never enjoyed reading those long and boring texts assigned by your uninspiring teachers. To overcome language barriers, describe things thoroughly. The more specific and accurate your descriptions are, the better the chances the receiver has of interpreting your message the way in which you would like it to be perceived. Increase the accuracy of your messages by using language that describes rather than evaluates by presenting obvious facts, events, and circumstances. When you have to speak in public, always try to choose words your audience will understand.

OVERCOMING LISTENING BARRIERS

Most of us simply do not listen well! Perhaps the most common barrier to reception is simply a lack of attention on the receiver’s part. Even if we try to concentrate on the words of the sender of a message, we all let our minds wander now and then. Essentially, people are likely to drift off when they are forced to listen to information that is difficult to understand or that has little direct bearing on their own lives. One effective technique to overcome listening barriers is to paraphrase what you have heard and understood. It is very helpful to try to stand in the shoes of the other speakers. It is also important to that urge we all have: jumping to conclusions. Try to get clarification by listening without interrupting the other and asking non-threatening questions. When all of this is done you will understand what the receiver has intended for you to hear. The knowledge you can gain is then limitless.

OVERCOMING EMOTIONAL BARRIERS

Every message contains two meanings: (1) the subject of the message itself; and (2) a relationship meaning, which identifies the most important reason for the interaction between sender and receiver. Communication can break down when the receiver reacts negatively to either of these meanings. You may have to deal with people during emotional times. Either they may be upset, or you might be upset. An angry person is inclined to distort or even ignore the words of the other person. Angry persons are usually incapable of presenting their feelings and ideas in an effective manner. This is not to say that you should avoid all communication when you are emotionally involved, but you should be aware of the potential for misunderstandings that go together with aroused emotions. To overcome emotional barriers during communication, it is important to monitor your own feelings and the feelings of others. Always try to control your negative feelings or anger. Most importantly recognize the probability for misunderstanding that usually goes along with emotional messages.

OVERCOMING BACKGROUND BARRIERS

Each person was raised in a different setting. Along with parents and childhood influences, people are perceived things differently depending on their age, education, gender, social status, economic position, cultural background, temperament, health, beauty, popularity, religion, political beliefs, and so on. People can be influenced greatly by a passing mood.

All of these things can separate one person from another and make communication difficult. Differences in background are the hardest communication barrier to overcome. To overcome the barriers associated with differing backgrounds, avoid projecting your own background or culture onto others. Clarify your background and understand the background of others. Take into consideration their education, experiences, personalities, perceptions, and do not assume that certain behaviors mean the same thing to everyone.

Fireproof File Cabinets – The Ultimate Hardcopy Version of Database Protection

There is no single business which suffers in times of losing its important documents. And of course, there is no business which would not appreciate fireproof file cabinets. If you come to think of it, any document left at your business office or business promises is important to the business, be it your client list, the partnership papers, billing documents or daily operations contact lists. However, of course, there are some that are more important than others and since must be kept under lock and key, away from prying eyes, hungry menace and conniving business espionage. Using these fire proof file cabinets would help very much in blocking off these undesirable activities.

Arrangers for properly storing your office and business documents are critical, in the case of fire, flood and or other natural disasters that are so rampant and unpredictable nowdays. You will need to know where each document is stored, not only for easy excess, but for practicality.

The IT aspects of your business like the software and system, are obviously stored in your servers and computers. And many companies are doing so for the ease and convenience. However, small businesses are often than not run mostly on a paper-based fashion and this makes storage in fireproof file cabinets so much more important. One might think that a simple file cabinet would suffice, think again. Ordinary ones will heat up and since most are made of untreated metal, conduct heat very quickly, thereby burning up the documents within a short span of time. In fact, they are literally the hard copy version of your IT database storage system, so to speak. Here, investing in them in case of the potential fire or flood which could happen anytime to any office, shows good business sense indeed.

Fireproof filing cabinets are manufactured meticulously, and are typically coated with a liquid chemical which causes the cabinet from heating. The lead time before the unit heaters up is measured by, for example, UL 350 degree 1 hour insulated fire rating. This would mean that the unit is able to withstand 350 degree Fahrenheit within 1 hour of the burning fire. The temperature can range from 350 to 2100 degrees F, depending on the make, brand, and purpose of the unit. Some units are made to put through high impact stress tests with a 30 feet impact drop test. Others are put through explosion hazard tests as well.

While fireproof file cabinets are an expensive investment, it is a one time expenditure which you could write off as business expenses in most states, and this will give you peace of mind, in times of natural disasters or theft, no like buying insurance for protecting your business survival.

Top Drywall Hanging Tips And Techniques

Hanging Tips & Techniques

Using a Deadman

A deadman is a temporary brace made of two lengths of 2×3 or 2×4 joined together and braced to form a T. Cut one of these as long as the ceiling is high plus 1 inch (but minus 1 1/2 inches for the crosspiece) and the other about 3 feet long. When hanging ceiling drywall, wedge the deadman beneath a panel to hold it until it can be fastened.

You may find it necessary to use two deadman on a ceiling panel, especially if you're working alone. If so, make sure that you oppose the angles of the two uprights; tilting them the same way creates an unstable situation.

Using a Stepladder

Stepladders are made from three different materials; wood, aluminum, and fiberglass. Drywallers tend to prefer aluminum for its low cost and light weight / durability. Ladders a rated according to the weight they can safely hold. Type III ladders can support 200 pounds per rung; Type II, 225 pounds per, Type I, 250 pounds per, and Type IA, 300 pounds. A Type II is fine for most residential work. Remember, howeverthat drywall is heavy; if you weight 200 pounds and lift a 54 pounds 1/2 inch panel, you'll be stretching the limit of a Type II ladder.

Using a Panel Lifter

A panel lifter allows you to raise a panel an inch or so off the floor while keeping your hands free. You'll use this handy device when installing wall panels near the floor. (Floor-level panels are not installed resting on the floor, but rather an inch or so above it. lever with a lip on one end that tucks under the panel. A panel lifter also gives you fairly careful control when positioning the wallboard, especially if the panel above is set. You can buy a panel lifter or make one from a pair of 3-inch-wide lengths of pine. In a pinch you can use a pry bar and block of wood.

Using a Panel Jack / Hoist

A panel jack is a real work-saving device when drywalling ceilings. By mounting a panel and lifting it up into position, you have a near effortless way to provide ceiling-panel installation.

Using Stilts

Shoe stilts take some time to get used to, right, and they can be awkward and dangerous. But when mastered, they can provide easy access and mobility to high areas when hanging drywall.

There are some health risks involved with certain bamboo flooring. Formaldehyde is something that occurs naturally both outdoors and indoors, and it can cause symptoms such as itchy watery eyes and even in some cases skin irritation. But most of the time formaldehyde is not much of a worry, because it takes a large amount to really affect someone. Bamboo floors can sometimes contain a small amount of formaldehyde, but it is nothing to worry about, so do not sweat it!

Formaldehyde is found in all different kinds of things such as paints, tobacco smoke, cosmetics and even wood burning stoves. Obviously bamboo floors do not contain enough formaldehyde to actually cause damage. They have made many tests on bamboo flooring and discovered that it really does not have that many problems. You never know when you may lose your kite in the water you will need to keep yourself buoyant as you swim, sometimes a long while to recapture your kite and other times into shore when your kite goes out to sea.
You will also need a life jacket or as it is known as a buoyancy jacket that will keep you afloat should you tire while swimming into shore or after your kite. A board leash, perhaps the only thing that keeps your board on your feet, the board leash straps around your ankle and places attached when you crash or land in the water.
A safety release is strap that attached you to the control bar. Once attached it allows you to add slack to one side of the kite and guiding it down into the water safely. A safety release can be 2 or 4 line and also can be used for inflatable and framed kites. Foil kites must be carefully navigated downwind to bring them down into the water.
There are three types of kits: inflatable kites, single skin framed kites and ram air foil kites. All of these kites can be launched from within the water. Inflatable kites are blown-up with a pump on the sand and are slowly lifted as the surfer approaches the beach line. Special precautions must be held so that innocent passersby do not get hurt. It is much better for any kite to be launched from within the water instead of the sand.
There are several quality kite makers that supply the various shapes, colors and sizes including: Wipika, Naish, Sea Jump, Seasmik, KiteSki, C-Quad, Banshee, Concept Air and fOne. The price of the kite will range from $ 500 to $ 1,500. You can find many places on the web as well as in surf pro shops that will get you started from about $ 300 and up. Some people have been creative and created their own kites.
The last piece is the board. Most boards are rigid, so there is very little movement involved. Your feet became harnessed to the board and a leash is recommended so you do not lose the board after a crash or re-entry from the sky. A typical board can range from $ 500 to $ 1,200.
Remember, your safety and well-being are tied to the equipment you use, it is wise to do research on the various brands available and if at all possible try them out before you buy them. This way you can tell if it fits you well and is easy to maneuver.

What Body Building Technique is For You?

In this article, we will cover information that you need to have for a successful weight-training program.

There are a few key rules that you have to follow.

However, the first rule is the most important rule of all. What do I want my body to look like when I have met my goals? Do you want a longer leaner look or do you want the muscular, bulked up, ripped look.

I guess we would all want the ripped look, but are you willing to work to get that look. I know in my advancing years, I do not think so, but if you are twenty or thirty something, probably.

The key to any weight training or bodybuilding program is to have a set of goals of what you want to accomplish and when you want to accomplish your goal. This is your long-term goal.

Once you have the long-term goal ON PAPER, what do you have to do monthly to satisfy the long-term goal? Then what do you have to do daily to make your mid term goal doable.

A large portion of the battle is in your brain. You will have to execute your plan to accomplish your goal but once it is on paper it then is just a matter of mechanics.

Speaking of mechanics lets go over some of the basics to determine you schedule.

Is your goal to tighten and tone your muscles, then sets of 13 to 20 reps will help you to develop endurance, with some increases to muscle size and some increase in strength. Make sure you do not rest much in between sets and quickly change your exercises. With this plan, you should work each muscle group 2 times a week.

The opposite side of this coin is building strength, power, and size of the muscle group. This is taken care of by performing 1 to 5 reps per set and 4 to 7 sets per exercise. Lifting at 80 to 100% of your limit and waiting 2 to 6 minutes between sets. When you are a more advanced trainer you will probably only want to exercise a specific muscle group every 3 to 4 days.

The next important thing in your arsenal is your diet. Just remember the old computer thought GIGO, "Garbage in Garbage out". If you want to look fantastic, you can not be eating all that fast food stuff.

Some of the staples of proper nutrition for bodybuilding are:

1.Good protein from lean meats. Lean meats are not that marble steak, although there are good choices of lean red meat in bison. Another good source of lean meats is tuna that is not to say you have to eat eight cans a day.

2. Another excellent source of protein is from the low egg that has been persecuted in the media. Eggs supply a complete protein, which contains ALL essential amino acids for us. They also give us great amounts of vitamins and minerals including Vitamin A, B6, B12, riboflavin, folic acid, choline, iron, calcium, phosphorous and potassium. It has been spoken of as the perfect protein.

3. Make sure you get some good complex carbs from fiber rich foods. Avoid the simple carbs and focus on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, stay away from highly processed carbohydrates.

4. Water, I know it does not have a taste, it is not supposed to. I prefer steam distilled water and I try to drink 8 ounces every hour on the hour. During my waking hours. Water is a great transporting of waste products that you need to get rid of after a good work out.

There is is, some simple but essential items that you need to plan for and do during your body building days.
