What to Look for When Buying Socket Sets

A high-quality assortment of ratchets, sockets and accessories is essential for many different jobs, from the complex to the light maintenance work. They come in several different sizes with wrench heads to match the individualized bolts. Here is a few of the most important things to consider when buying socket sets:

Socket sizes

The different socket sizes are likely to include SAE, metric and Whitworth. The SAE (standard-sized socket) has its measurements in inches, which is practical for those mechanics working on older vehicle models. The metric tools are necessary for working on the latest domestic and import vehicles with the sizes in millimeters.

A garage should be stocked to match the type of vehicles serviced. However, a combination of SAE and metric is the most practical option to make sure a tool is available for the most wide-ranging jobs.

The third type is the Whitworth sockets which are only likely to feature on the British vehicles like a classic Jaguar or MG.

Drive size

The SAE and metric sockets are available in a range of sizes, including–inch, 3/8-inch and–inch. The range of sizes is intended to work with the different ratchets and may even require an extension unit to work. For those that are limited to buying a single drive size, it is best to go with the 3/8-inch drive because this has the ability to work with the most sockets.

The–inch drive sockets are the preferred choice for reaching bolts or nuts in tight spaces, while the large,–inch drive socket is practical for the largest fasteners and have the ability to accept more torque. This type of socket may need a breaker bar or ratchet to fully tighten or loosen.

The shape of the sockets can range from a 12-pointed star to a six-pointed hexagon. The six-point socket is the more reliable option because its walls are more able to sit flush to the sides of the nuts. They are more practical for applications that need serious torque or more on large hardware. But, the 12-point socket is the most convenient to use because it is a lot easier to get in position and line up, and a useful option for lighter work.

Alloy steel

The strength and durability of the sockets can vary significantly. One of the most durable choices is alloy steel which is heat forged with several other materials. It is essential to have a reliable material that has the ability to provide long-term service and stands up to the most difficult jobs.

Gay And Other Concerns In The LGBT Community And The Significance Of News

Gay news today is centered more around news of movement such as acceptance of same sex marriage. While such regulations publicized by certain governments go a long way in addressing important and life-altering challenges for the LGBT community, there is less focus on addressing other concerns such as mental health issues. Physical and mental healthcare forms One of the basic needs of the gay or LGBT community and news related to these matters can help inform individuals of new developments as well as help equip them to handle issues better. Forms of mental anguish and trauma in the LGBT community are often a result of fear which fuels anxiety, depression, and other stress-related problems. News related to people and / or agencies which could help gays as well as other individuals in LGBT community to stand up to and access the negative impact of discrimination can prove to be of great help to all the community members.

'… I always knew that I was gay. I remember seeing heterosexual couples and knowing that I was not like them. I would get very depressed about not being like other kids … I would wonder what I could do to rid myself of this awful feeling … 'is a refusal you could get to see on anonymous forums and helplines, both online and in print. Worryingly, these could emerge from respondents as young as 14-16 year-old youths. And innumerable LGBT youths have similar feelings. While any number of accounts of rejection of gays by family or friends, together with verbal and physical abuse are seen and heard, there are not many news focussing on agencies or people who can help gay individuals accept their orientation – agencies that propagate that LGBT have not chosen their orientation – they are born LGBT just like some people are born with white skin and some with black skin.

It is important that 'Gay news' or 'LGBT news' relates more to the community and provides information of practical use to the LGBT community. Today the term 'LGBT or gay news' is more about actions taken by authorities to help the community. These news items may also highlight steps taken towards welfare by those in positions of authority.

However, it is not that there are no organizations that represent or defend the gay community. There are several agencies which work with the media to help portray fair and accurate images of the community through gay and other LGBT community news. Among the greatest benefits of these agencies is the news and information that they make accessible to the gay community. Information is key to opening up avenues for betterment of life, as well as to ensure that individuals do not suffer due to a lack of knowing. News items, whether they focus on gays in particular or on the LGBT community as a whole, can contribute significantly towards ensuring the safety and happiness of individuals.

I Used to Scoff at People Who "Forgot To Eat"

I used to scoff at people who would say they were so busy they are "forgot to eat."

When I was in college, I was an art major and spent many, many hours in the art department building working on projects. I remember being there late at night or working the weekends away, and other students would lament that they had not eaten all day because they were so focused they "forgot."

How could someone forget to eat ??

I never seemed to be able to stop thinking about food, as much as I wanted to. I was either considering when it was time to go eat or scrutinizing if I'd eat too much or trying to watch portions so that I could lose weight.

One day several years later, I was at marketing conference and invited to a fancy restaurant to join a group of highly successful entrepreneurs. As I looked over the menu, I could see there was nothing less than $ 50 on the menu. Focusing more on what I was going to order than the people around me, I dropped out of the conversation. I became wrapped up in trying to decide what would be filling but not fattening, the best choice for my money, etc.

Across the table from me was a woman who was absolutely gorgeous. Not just beautiful in the traditional sense, but stunning in every part of her being: the way she bore herself, her laugh, her colorful, form-fitting dress, everything. I was captivated by how comfortable she appeared in her body, classy and poised yet bold.

As the waiter came and took our orders, this woman ordered several rich appetizers, a salad and a main course. I was mildly surprised, wondering where she was going to put all the food since she was very slim.

Through the meal, I noticed the woman took a bite here, a bite there … but mostly stayed completely involved in the conversations around her. She seemed completely engaged in the people she was talking with, and disinterested in her plate. As the waiter came and took plates away, the guy next to her commented that she had not touched much.

I can still hear her voice in my head saying, "Yeah, I enjoy the presentation and savoring the best things on the menu, but it's boring after a few bites."

I had never thought about food that way before. Food could be boring? It was always something I was either looking forward to or trying not to obsess over … but never boring.

This woman clearly thought about food differently than I did. And, to be completely vein, I could see that clearly her thoughts were serving her figure and her level of enjoyment more than mine were.

Here I had devoted 30-40% of my attention at that dinner wrapped up in what I was ordering, how much it was, if it was too indulgent, etc. rather than being present with the amazing people around me. I was coming from a scarcity mindset both in my attitude towards money as well as food.

This woman clearly did not bat an eye at the prices, was quite happy to enjoy savoring the richest bites and was fully attentive to the people around her. She was operating from a place of authentic abundance on multiple levels, and she saved off that vibe. It was captivating to all those around her, including me.

Both the art students from college and this woman stuck out in my mind as I became seriously upset with my relationship with food.

I had grown up in a family that loved to eat; food was involved with socializing, rewarding, playing, relaxing. Forgetting to eat or being so extravagant would have been brushed off as "unhealthy" or "wasteful" – negative connotations.

Yet these people did not occur to me now to be unhealthy or wasteful. They simply had another approach. I started to see a whole world of beliefs or "invisible scripts" I had about food (and money, and scarcity). The more I started to look at how other people that I adapted approached food, I learned there are reasons OTHER THAN THE FOOD to go to a nice restaurant. I also learned that there were many other ways to think about food, and none are "right" or "wrong." They're just different ways-and if the way I was approaching food was not serving me any longer, than I needed to experiment with other ways.

(Likewise with the ways I approach money, or work, or sex … but that's another rabbit hole too deep to get into here.)

I also realized that if you try to change your approach around the people who are comfortable with the way you have always been, it can be extremely difficult.

Most people are not comfortable with change-and they are not comfortable with YOU changing because it throws off their perception of you and challenges their own beliefs.

Which is why, if you politely decline a piece of cake at a birthday party, they'll probably say, "Come on, it's Susie's birthday! You can at least have a small piece …"

So not only are you facing questioning your own beliefs, you're also up against forces that do not want you to change the way you are. This is why SO MANY people fail to create new habits or routines in their life, even with the best of intentions. It's a very tough wall to climb.

If I had stayed with my old beliefs and patterns that were comfortable to those around me, I'd still have a binge eating disorder. I'm still be patient and quietly dying inside, hating myself and losing motivation across all areas of my life.

Guess what? It's NORMAL to grow, to feel dissatisfied with where things are and are to warn for more. Life is about growing, changing and evolving. You see it everywhere around you: in nature, childhood, education, investing, etc.

There's nothing bad or "wrong" with you for wanting more, or for questioning your current approach to food (or any area of your life). While those around you may suggest that it's better to stay as you are, I'm here to cheer for you WANTING MORE.

Not just more satisfaction with your relationship with food. More fun. More play. More peace. More wealth. More success.

How are you going to get MORE?

It starts by figuring out what's keeping you where you're at.

If you ask yourself why you have not already gotten to that "more" point, what's your answer? What reason do you come up with? Keep in mind that your brain is going to rationalize in any way that it can as to why you can not grow or change. Remember the animal brain? The part that is committed to your survival? That part does not like change. It will fight it in any way that it can, because it's the unknown where it can not ensure your survival. So you're going to have all sorts of excuses coming up when you try to change what you're doing now.

But before you get too stuck in a battle of wills with yourself, trying to force a new approach, look for people that have realized that "more" state that you would like for yourself. Who has a relationship with food that you admire? Who has created peace, wealth or success in a way that you would like to?

What's different about their approach? See if you can guess what beliefs they have about themselves and these areas of their lives.

The more examples you can find, the better. Then experiment. Play with a new approach for a day. If it suits you, keep it for another day.

If it means going into the fanciest restaurant in your city and ordering the most indulgent items on the menu, taking a bite or two of each and then being finished with the meal … try it.

If it means investing in a new coat that's three times more than what you "should" pay (but you know you'll wear it for the next 6 years because you love it so much) … try it.

If it means taking a day off from work in the middle of the week to stay at home and watch your favorite movies all day because you need a break … try it.
Whatever you experiment with, the more uncomfortable it feels to do it-the better.

That's a good indication that you're on the path to challenging your deeply-rooted beliefs and transforming into the next phase of yourself.

The more, the better …

Indoor Pool Rooms: Vapor Barriers Are Critical For Installation

Humidity and moisture from an indoor pool can damage not only internal building materials, but also permeate the interior cavity of pool structure (between inner wall and outer wall of the pool room). Without the proper vapor retarder, moisture from the pool can migrate into these areas as air passes from the interior warm side of the pool room to the colder outdoor air side. Mold, rot, mildew, internal premature structural failure, decay, and deterioration of insulation are some of the problems when vapor retarders are not installed, or penetrated after installation.

Building Materials and Construction play an integral role in controlling humidity and moisture migration

Vapor Barriers are often overlooked in the design stages, forgotten, not installed, or installed improperly. Green Board, Dryvit, various other “boards”, foil faced insulation and other types of sprayed-in-place urethane foam insulation are not considered vapor barriers, nor are generally recommended. There are very few acoustical ceiling tiles that are made to withstand the stratification of humidity in an indoor pool. Drop ceilings are discouraged as they become moisture traps in swimming environments. Many of these types of materials have been used in the past with extremely negative results; they are not bullet proof when it comes to moisture damage. Therefore, with an effective vapor retarder, good insulation, negative pressure and a properly designed pool room dehumidification system; moisture damage can be prevented in the design/construction stages.

What Materials Constitute a Vapor Barrier?

Generally, Vapor Barriers for an indoor pool are materials that do not permit moisture to migrate passed the surface areas into the structure. They are generally heavy plastic sheeting in 8, 10 or 12 mil. The effectiveness of the barriers to prevent moisture migration is rated by “permeability ratings”. The higher the perm rating, the less moisture will penetrate the barrier into the pool room structure. It is recommended the barrier have a perm rating of 0.10 or less when utilized in an indoor pool.

If an existing indoor pool and a vapor retarder cannot be installed under finished surfaces, other materials that can be considered vapor retarders are waterproof paints or other types of paints or sealants (check with a paint specialty or building professional). We also recommend reviewing ASHRAE Guidelines on vapor barriers for additional information.

Where is the Vapor Barrier located in an Indoor Pool?

The application of your vapor barrier is also critical to preventing moisture damage. The Vapor Barrier for all natatoriums is installed in the walls and ceilings under the finished surface (or the warm side of the pool room). We recommend 10-12 mil. seamless vapor barriers be installed by enveloping the entire pool room. The barrier is overlapped and sealed at the joints. Once installed, avoid penetrations of the barrier (i.e. top-hat recessed can lighting is not recommended; surface mount all lighting). All penetrations by mechanical and electrical contractors must be sealed air tight. It is recommended the wall vapor barrier be sealed (not just overlapped) to the ceiling vapor barrier.

Care must also be exercised in installing insulation around the pool enclosure, since poor insulation leads directly to higher energy and operating costs. Note that gaps in insulation create “cold spots” that promote moisture condensation as well. If negative pressure is not designed, moisture can and will migrate into areas outside of the pool room. A properly designed indoor pool will ensure attention to these three important aspects of moisture migration and humidity control.

In-Home Fireproof Safe VS Offsite Bank Safety Locker

Have you been pondering over a suitable security solution for your valuables? If yes is your answer, then right now is the time to lay down your options to pick the appropriate one. You have heard about fireproof safes, but do not know if it is a reliable choice. Or, maybe you are not sure how to pick the right one. You consider signing up for your own safety locker at your bank, but still doubt if that would fit into your busy schedule. Well, you are caught in a dilemma. This article will help you understand which could be the best for you and your asset documents.

It is true that banks offer good security lockers for their customers. They are closely watched by the bank's security surveillance team and also subject to legal protection. These boxes are also fireproof and waterproof. Since your safety locker is not located in your house, it has no threats from burglars or natural disasters like earthquakes that could collapse the entire house. After all of these optimistic services, a bank locker has its own disadvantages when it comes to accessibility and expenditure. You can not get immediate access to your valuables anytime you require them. Your bank will not be open all times, including weekends and holidays. Banks do not approve for storing dangerous equipment like guns and pistols. Secondly, there is a risk of losing the key. Above all, you will be charged an annual fee as long as you hold a locker at the bank.

On the contrary, an in-house fireproof safe can be the best option for you to store your valuables like paper documents including your Wills. It is easily accessible on all days, whenever you require. Hidden safes and floor mounted safes can not be easily removed by burglars. It saves you money that you would otherwise spend on a safety lock annually. It also saves you time from running errands to your bank often.

Apart from all those comforts that a fireproof safe provides, you can not just store anything in any safe. There are indeed some critical details that you may want to pay attention to. It is important to buy a good quality branded, UL rated safe. You can store paper documents in a fireproof cabinet, but not your digital media like CDs, DVDs, and hard drives. It is not a good idea to store photographs or any related items as they are vulnerable to heat and moisture. Not all safes are built to protect the contents, especially digital media for long durations. Each safe has its own characteristics, which is why it is important to buy a fireproof cabinet to protect paper documents from fire and water, burglar safe to keep it away from burglar attempts and a good media safe to secure all forms of digital media. If you consider storing guns, definitely buy a good gun safe. If all these constraints are taken into consideration, then an in-house fireproof safe can indeed be a good investment compared to the conventional bank safety locker.

Wallpaper Wonders – Using Wallpaper to Decorate is Making a Comeback

Finding a house decorated with peeling wallpaper in several rooms means you've found a house badly in need of a total makeover – before it's too late! Wallpaper was very popular in days gone by but has recently been overtaken by just plain paint finishes in most rooms (pastels especially). Things are changing a little bit though and wallpaper is starting to make a comeback in some circles. Some methods of decorating a home never really go out of fashion.

Forget those big flowery designs you remember as a child, now wallpaper do not needlessly have to look like wallflowers, if you know what I mean. One of the most popular designs available now is bamboo wallpaper. It's so convincing that it really does look and even feel like the real thing. Who says you have to be in China to experience having bamboo plants in your space? This wallpaper is simply lovely and it blends with any nature theme you may have in mind.

Another new innovative idea is the self-adhesive type of wallpaper. Say goodbye to messy wallpaper paste procedures that leave your fingers and half your home stuck together! A word of caution though, be sure you're sticking it on the right place, because it can be very difficult to remove later on! And the most wonderful new trend is none other than paintable wallpaper! Now while most people would find the idea a bit weird, its actually a lifesaver if you're not allowed to use paint in a room you're renting but you are even allowed to put up wallpaper. Problem solved! This kind of wallpaper comes in wonderful patterns and designs and you can be assured that they will match any theme you want.

Wallpapering is no 3-step process, it requires some practice and a little crash course from the experts would be ideal if at all possible. It's a good thing stores like Lowe's or Home Depot often offer lectures on proper wallpaper procedure, all for no cost at all! And no, they do not really require you to buy anything from their shops. So if you have some time to kill, why not head for these places and probably learn a thing or two! They even offer discounts once you decide to do some shopping after the helpful classes. The internet is also a lot of help if you have no idea about estimating the amount of wallpaper you will need for your space. But just in case things do not go along smoothly, it might be smart to include that extra roll …

Excited already? Wait a minute! You need to prepare your walls first, there are instructions along with your wallpaper order and you need to read and follow these first. The most basic of these comes in question form. Do you plan to sell your house a couple of years from now? If you already have plans of moving in mind then you might want to opt for paint instead. Buyers might not have a thing for bamboo or flowered wallpaper and the chances you have of selling your home will be that bit lower than if you had just used neutral paint tones through your house. However, if you plan to stay for a good 10 years or so, then go ahead. Beside there are solutions from stores or home made ones that might help in getting rid of the wallpaper if you decide to change your mind – it's not a lifetime commitment

Wallpaper, believe it or not, can actually add to your home. Especially if your home is somewhat unique or quirky. The sense of luxury associated with wallpaped walls is not something you can ever achieve with paint. Do choose your wallpaper carefully though because once it's up on the walls it can be a demon to get back down without making a mess. Why not become part of the comeback trend by looking at how you might wallpaper one of your rooms?

How to Make Candles – Gel Candles

Gel candles are a fun thing to construct. Not only are they attractive, but really easy to ignite. They also burn slow, resulting in your candles having a lasting life for you to appreciate. Learning how to make candles specifically gel candles is easy, they are easily constructed in addition to being cheap. You are able to add your preferred aromas to them also. The provisions you require to get started include gel, zinc wicks, perfumed oils if you want, and dye to add coloration. Many people enjoy the appearance of a translucent gel candle and choose not to apply any dye. It's cruel that you just use zinc wicks for gel candles as cotton wicks soak up the gel, making them not light or burn easily. You are able to buy these supplies from a craft store or on the net.

Gel candles can be constructed in a assortment of containers. Using those constructed of glass will afford you the most effective results. Neverheadless, as long as the container is noncombustible you'll be all right. To impart uniqueness to gel candles, a lot of manufacturers prefer to build them in decorated glasses, wine glasses, and vases. To add coloration and themes to candles, think about applying embeds. This could be glitter, marbles, colored rocks, sea shells, crystals, or anything additional that will not burn up.

You'll require a hot glue gun to adhere the wick to the bottom of the container you chose to utilize. Hold securely in place till the wick binds. To make centering less complicated, mark the bottom of the container with a red or black marker directly in the center. The wick should then be located on top of the mark. Leave the wick long enough to extend out of the container. You'll clip it afterwards. To melt the gel, cut it into small strips. For most effective results melt them in a double boiler at average heat. The gel should be heated up to two hundred degrees Fahrenheit. A quality thermometer is a outstanding investment as the gel will not congeal the right way if you do not get it warm enough and it will lose the lustrous coloring if you get the temperature excessively high.

If you want to add color to your gel candles, add them in slowly. The colors render more vibrantly in gel candles than wax candles and so you'll call for a great deal less than what you use when you construct wax candles. Add your painting to the liquefied wax slowly. If you are not pleased with the painting you can slowly add more. Whenever you chose to apply embedded objects in the candle, it's advised that you keep the gel candle coloring very faint. Next, add aromas if you want. 1/3 teaspoonful is all you require for each glassful of melted gel.

For most effective opportunities when learning how to make candles, heat your container in the microwave oven for approximately one minute. This will do away with those ugly bubbles that can form on gel candles. At once after taking out the container from the microwave oven, beginning adding your embeds. You'll need to dip them in the hot gel to cause them to stick in the container. You are able to arrange embeds any way you want. For most skillful effects push them toward the edges of the container so that they can easily be seen. You can create embed designs or add them loosely.

It's crucial to keep the gel very hot while finishing the embed procedure. Once you have that finished, pour the gel into the container. If you permit the gel to cool down before pouring it in the container you'll wind up with chunks of gel through the candle. Ensure the wick is hanging across the top of the container prior to pouring in the gel. Once the gel gets congealed, cut it to the size you want.

Learning how to make candles and building gel candles is easy, entertaining, and affordable. It is a fun way to construct your own gorgeous candles for, giving as presents, or selling. There is fantastic books with a great deal of pictures of gel candle projects you will be able to try, or purely produce your own.

How to Lay Laminate Flooring

In this article we intend to condense how to lay laminate flooring into six easy steps that you can follow at home. Remember, if you're not sure how to lay laminate flooring and of your DIY skills in general, it is always a good idea to ask a more experienced friend if they can help you out – even if it's just to get you off on the right foot. The process of laying laminate flooring has evolved along the technological advances with the actual floor boards themselves, and is a perfectly achievable task for even the most humble DIY enthusiast. One important thing to remember before we get started with our how to lay laminate flooring guide is to ensure your laminate flooring has been left in the environment you plan to install them in for at least 48 hours before you start laying. This is very important, as the boards must be allowed to acclimatise to the new room temperature and humidity levels it will be exposed to. The boards themselves will then expand or contract accordingly during this period. In addition to this, you also need to make sure the surface of the floor is thoroughly cleaned, and all dust and debris is removed. Any debris left on the floor surface could cause an inconsistency when you come to lay the tiles as it may alter the level of the sub-floor.

Okay, let's begin our guide to how to lay laminate flooring:

Step 1 – what you'll need

You will find the following equipment and materials very useful, if not essential in most cases:

  • a laminate cutter
  • tile spacers
  • knee pads
  • safety glasses
  • a pencil
  • set square
  • gaffa tape
  • a hammer
  • a sharp craft knife
  • a pulling bar
  • tapping block
  • foam underlay

Step 2 – measuring for your laminate floor

In order to purchase the correct amount of laminate flooring, you'll need to find out the total square area that you require covered. Thankfully laminate flooring incoming in packs (which vary in the quantity of boards that contain depending on the type you purchase), which indicate both the individual board size of the panels, as well as the overall area covered per pack. Therefore, to calculate how many packs of laminate flooring you'll need for your project you'll need to first multiply the width by the depth of your room. This will give you your squared area size. If your room is not completely square or rectangular, simply divide your space up into smaller areas that can be squared off. Now take your new area size and divide it by the area covered as indicated on the packs of your chosen type of laminate flooring. This will now give you a figure which is equal to the number of packs you'll need to purchase to cover your area.

It's important to purchase 10% extra boards than you'll need just in case you make any mistakes, or there's been any miscalculations. This will avoid the project being potentially held up, or a situation where you realize you need more boards, but they're out of stock or discontinued.

Step 3 – marking out your floor

Whilst you do need need to mark out where you will lay each laminate board as you would with laying tiles, it is very important to determine how you will lay your first row, and to get this right. For this reason, before we move onto laying the underlay, decide now where you will begin laying your first row of laminate, and the direction the boards will be going in. It's always advisable to start laying your flooring in the lightest part of the room. Once you have decided where your first row will go, lay your row as a trial, remembering to use spacers between the boards and the skirting board. This trial row will help determine how much of the end-row board you will need cut off in order to make the floor fit. This is useful to plan in advance since you should avoid a situation where you are having to cut more than 50% of the depth of the board away (the short side), or less than 400mm of the width of the board away (the long side). This is because it will compromise the strength of your floor.

Step 4 – laying underlay

Begin laying your underlay by first ensuring you have your spacers in place, and you are laying the rolls at a 90 degree angle to the way you will lay your laminate boards; This is to prevent the seams between the pieces of underlay ever corresponding to the joins between the piece of laminate flooring. As you lay the underlay, make sure there is no gap or overlap between the sections as either of these might cause the laminate boards to sink or stand proud. The goal here is a nice consistent surface. Tape down the joins between the sections with a bit of masking tape to hold them in place.

Step 5 – laying laminate flooring

Now you come to actually laying the laminate flooring itself. Following the layout you already worked out in Step 3, beginning laying your laminate flooring remembering to keep the spacers in place between the laminate flooring and the skirting board to allow for expansion. If you're using tongue and groove laminate flooring, simply introduce each new board at a 45 degree angle to the previous one, and gently lower the new board in place. You should feel the tongue click into the groove, and the boards should sit flush with each other. It is advisable to use a pulling bar and a beating block to help encourage each board into place after you've laid it. Pulling bars are used when you reach the end of a row and do not have sufficient space to use a beating block.

When you come to cut your end-of-row boards, the easiest way to do this is to lay the board in position where you intend to place it, ad mark on either side when a cut will need to be made. Using your set square, join the marks up to give you a nice straight cutting line. Using your laminate cutter, or the saw you have available, cut your laminate board, first checking which side of the board should be facing upward to minimize damage (this will depend on the type of saw you're using). Do not forget to wear safety protection while you do this.

Step 6 – applying the finishing touches

If possible, leave your newly laid floor for 48 hours before adding any finishing touches such as trims, scotias, or transition bars. This will give the flooring extra time to acclimatise to the room, and this is where that 10mm gap we left between the flooring and the skirting boards comes into play, allowing the flooring to expand without running out of space.

Cutting trims and scotias for navigating around corners is made easier with a mitre box that will help you cut perfect angled cuts. In addition to this, you can use transition bars between your new floor, and other floor surfaces that meet in doorways for example. These are easy to fit, and help form a clean transition.

Congratulations! You now know how to lay laminate flooring!

Mark III Tactical Series Scopes – A Guide For Choosing the Best Reticle

Choosing the Correct Magnification
The scopes in the Mark III Tactical series are available in a wide range of magnifications and include variable magnification options. You may want to consider a set magnification if you consistently shoot from comparable distances or if you have the ability to use multiple scopes for your changing power needs.

A common mistake made by inexperienced marksmen is to quickly choose the most powerful scope available, believing that bigger is better. While powerful scopes are certainly an asset, they must be used in particular circumstances to infer their full benefit. In some instances, a very powerful scope can actually erode the quality of your shot.

If you do not already have a preference for the power of your scope, a good rule of thumb is to seek a scope that will place your target in your line of view as though it was directly in front of you. You do not want it to be too small, but you also do not want to be shooting at an image that belongs under a microscope.

The old days of a simple cross or a simpler dot are long gone. Now marksmen can enjoy a range of reticles that are each specifically designed to serve a particular function and improve your shot in specific circumstances.

Here are some of the Reticles that are available within this line and the benefits that each scope offers.

Variable Power Scopes
Variable power scopes combine the best of both worlds – close range viewing when you need to make an accurate shot and wide field of view when you need to track a moving target. This means that with just one scope you are able to track a moving target and then quickly crank the power to take a long shot with pin-point accuracy.

Here are some of the Reticles that are available within this line and the benefits that each scope offers.

The P4 Sniper
This scope offers many professional features included open target turrets, fully multi-coated lenses, and integrated weaver style quick release. The built in sunshade and quick focus eyepiece allow you to compensate quickly under any circumstance or environment change. Multiple brightness settings provide a customizable target point in red or green. Best of all, the P4 Sniper offers a bullet drop compensator to improve the quality of your shot, every time.

The P4 Sniper is available on several Mark III Tactical series scopes, including variable magnification scopes. After deciding that this reticle is right for you and your shooting needs, you can now determine the correct magnification to customize your scope-shopping experience.

The Rangefinder
Like the P4 Sniper this addition to the Mark III Tactical series also features many professional features. Shooter s will benefit from the scope of Open target turrets, fully multi-coated lenses, and bullet-drop compensator. The Rangefinder scope also offers an integrated quick release carry handle mounting system, built in sunshine, and quick focus eyepiece.

The Rangefinder is available on several Mark III Tactical series scopes. After deciding that this reticle is right for you and your shooting needs, you can now determine the correct magnification to customize your scope-shopping experience.

The Mil-Dot
Similar to the P4 Sniper and Rangefinder, The Mil Dot offers the full range of features and benefits that come standard with the Mark III Tactical Series. The Mil Dot is available on several Mark III Tactical series scopes. After deciding that this reticle is right for you and your shooting needs, you can now determine the correct magnification to customize your scope-shopping experience.

The Final Word
Every shooter has room for a high quality, low cost scope with well-designed features. BLJ's has a reputation for enhancing a marksman's natural talent and skill. BLJ's Self Defense offers a full line of the Mark III Tactical series, complete with the customer service you need to select the perfect scope for you.

How to Remove Mold & Mildew From Awnings

This Basic guide will help you know how to efficiently remove mold and mildew from awnings. Mildew is actually what is left from mold settling into areas that get wet or stay wet often. We fight this mold and mildew often in our bathrooms, but in this article, we are going to discuss mold and mildew removal and prevention from awnings. The good thing with mold and mildew is that you can easily remove it and maintain by prevention.

4 Steps for Removing Mold and Mildew on Awnings

1. First, you will need to wash the mold and mildew from the awnings by using an appropriate scrub brush and a disinfectant and hot water. This will help remove the mold and mildew as well as kill the bacteria.

2. After you have removed all of the mildew and mold from the awnings with a disinfectant, you need to rinse the area clean with hot water. Add a little lemon juice and some salt (same parts of lemon juice and salt added to your rinsing water) to rinse away the area.

3. You can let the awnings air dry by itself after you have thoroughly washed and rinsed. Just let the sun help to dry the awnings with time.

4. After it has discharged you will probably notice some staining from the mildew. You can remove these stains with some bleach and hot water. Start scrubbing at the awnings with a bleach and hot water solution to remove the stains.

How to Prevent Mold and Mildew on Your Awnings

To prevent mildew you need to prevent the mold from sitting in your awnings. To prevent the mold you need to prevent water from sitting in your awnings. When it rains outside the water will sit in the awnings and eventually create mold, and then mildew. If you can punch holes in your awnings you can allow the water to drain as it comes to prevent mold and mildew.

You need to create a drainage system that will allow the water to completely drain out of your awnings when it rains. Check for tricky places where the water will sit even though you have created some sort of drain system. Once you have the drainage working properly, you should not experience much mold or mildew anymore, but you should still clean the awnings (which will be easier without scrubbing off mold and mildew, as well as the stains they leave behind) on a regular basis , such as annually or seasonally.

Nose Piercings – Nostril, Septum, and Bridge Piercings

Nose piercings are extremely popular throughout the world. The nostril piercings are the most popular, although there is a surge in septum (properly called the nasal septum) piercings too; Bridge Piercings, located between the eyes, are still very rare. No matter which nose piercings you desire, all have the potential to frame your face and emphasize your features beautifully.

Nostril piercings are as old as humankind. Many cultures pierce their noses for varying reasons, be it for warrior status, child-bearing help, religious references, or coming of age rites, people have been piercing their noses for longer than recorded history. In America, nostril piercings are a relatively new fad – the first groups of people to get their noses pierced were hippies returning from sojourns in India and followers of “punk rock”, so the initial impression of nostril piercings was that of a disestablishmentarianism feel. Today, having a nostril pierced is hardly considered “punk” or “rebellious” and an increasing amount of workplaces allow for nostril piercings; out of all facial piercings, this is probably one of the piercings to achieve benign responses from older or more traditional members of society.

Both nostrils can be pierced and the side you get pierced is really a matter of your personal preference. You and your piercer will decide on which jewelry is appropriate for your lifestyle (and the initial jewelry used for the piercing may not be what you have in mind) and which jewelry will best accommodate your face for the inevitable subsequent swelling. The piercer may choose the best location for your new jewelry by asking you to flare your nostrils. The best looking nose jewelry is located in the crease that become apparent during flaring and in this location you minimize your chances of accidentally ripping out your new piercing!

The Septum piercing is located, well, in the septum (the cartilage that separates your nostrils) and looks extremely painful. Actually, it is one of the least painful piercings you can get, for a good piercer won’t actually go through the cartilage. Your piercer will pinch your septum to locate the “sweet spot” – a sliver of thin skin – and the jewelry will be placed there. Captive beads and circular barbells are usually used for the initial jewelry, and many people choose to gauge this piercing over time. If you decide to gauge, remember that the initial swelling will subside in one month to three months, so only after this allotted time can you begin the process.

Unfortunately, there are some stigmas associated with this piercing (most work environments are not friendly to it), but luckily, these piercings are easy to hide without having to remove the jewelry. If you get pierced with a circular barbell, instead of letting the ends hang downward you can swing the ends into your nose, thus hiding the piercing. Once you can safely remove the piercing, you can always buy a clear or flesh color retainer to disguise the piercing too.

Bridge Piercings are still rare but are becoming more visible in everyday culture. While this piercing is actually located on the nose, it is placed on the upper part (the bridge) of the nose right between the eyes, hence the name. If this piercing is flipped from horizontal to vertical, and lifted slightly on the nose and forehead plane, it is called a “minds eye” or “third eye” piercing (which is still very rare, and explained in my eye-area article). Bridge piercing is also called the “earl” as a tribute to the first person to wear this piercing (Earl van Aken). Bridge Piercings are contemporary of origin.

Bridge Piercings and Third Eye Piercings are considered “surface piercings” (a complete in-depth analysis of surface piercings will be provided in another article), so the risk of rejection is high, and once removed, scarring is a real possibility. Without fail, Bridge Piercings are pierced with straight barbells (rings simply won’t work for an initial piercing, although once healed, a D-shaped captive ring may work). A professional piercer will tweak the jewelry so as to fit your face shape, if not create a completely customized piece of jewelry for you. While the Bridge piercings carry no risk to harm your eyes, or your sinuses, they should not be attempted by amateurs. If you are considering this piercing, be warned that the rate of complete healing is very low, and the risk of migration is very high. Not many people are able to keep this piercing, and reoccurring infections are a real risk even if you do take great care of this piercing!

As always, be sure to keep your new piercing clean with warm saline solution. Never ever touch your jewelry – your hands are absolutely covered with germs – unless you absolutely must and you have just washed your hands. By following these two simple guidelines, you will be on the right track to a quick and painless healing process.

During the first couple weeks, you may notice tenderness if you have to blow your nose. And to be completely forthright, you may notice that boogers stick to the inside of your piercing. The average healing period is eight to ten weeks, but this can be prolonged if you wear makeup, take your nose ring in and out repeatedly, partake in illegal drugs (this will definitely irritate your piercing), or smoke (tobacco is amongst the worst offenders for infection causers). After ten weeks, it should not hurt to blow your nose. Be gentle when drying your face – towels are your enemy for the first couple weeks, for jewelry can get caught on the fabric and get yanked out.

If you love the look of nose piercings but are uneasy about potential job prospects, you can (and should) buy a retainer. You are definitely not the first person to be in this conundrum, so many body jewelry manufacturers have created clear or flesh colored retainers – that is, jewelry specifically designed to maintain the integrity of your piercing while blending in with the rest of your face. These enable you to keep your nose piercings from closing up (because like most facial piercings, the holes will close relatively quickly) all while going undetected in the workplace. If you are interested in a nose piercing (or two…or three…) there is really no reason to hold back!

Assembly Workstations and Gravity Conveyor Systems

Millions of Americans go to work every day in factories and warehouses all around the country and have jobs where they pull parts off a gravity conveyor system and assemble them at their workstation. Contrary to the image that many people conjure up when they think about the job of today's assembly worker, the work is far from being routine and monotonous. No one stands in a moving line waiting to turn a screw on the widget as it passes by every 5 seconds. Today's assembly jobs require a well-educated worker who is able to handle multiple tasks.

Some things have not changed. Products need to move along the line at a steady pace. A problem at one point in the line can cause a back-up all the way through the process. The steel rollers of the gravity fed conveyor belt still makes that familiar soft roaring sound as products slide their way down to the assembly stations. Workers must be quick and accurate when picking up components that will go into the finished product.

More than 100 years ago when Henry Ford introduced the assembly line as an efficient way of building a car, he also opened the door to other types of efficiencies businesses could achieve. The advent of the gravity conveyor system made it much easier to move products, materials and supplies around a work space. Instead of having to lift up a heavy box and carry it 50 or 100 feet from one spot to another, the needed item could simply be slid along the steel conveyor wheels with a minimal amount of effort.

Workers use such systems to pick parts off of shelves or move items from workstation to workstation for final assembly, packaging and shipping. Orders that are picked off of warehouse shelves can be moved along the line until they reach the point where they are boxed up and ready to be loaded on to a truck and shipped out to their final destination. The amount of work and heavy lifting is greatly reduced and each employee can do his or her job more efficiently. Productivity goes up when gravity conveyor systems are used to expedite the movement of parts and products through the factory or warehouse space.

Additionally, operations will often set up manual, metal rolling gravity conveyors so that they feed directly from the back end of a truck down to the assembly workstations or staging areas. This allows for quick loading or unloading and also reduces the need for more workers to load or unload a truck.
