Why is Customer Service So Important?

Why is customer service important?

Well we all know instinctively that customer service has got to be good for a business, but why?

What are the tangibles that good customer service delivers a business?

Here are some ideas to help your business case for developing your customer service or customer experience.

1) Good customer service retains customers

If your customers are happy with the service you deliver they will spend more with you and more often. Get it really right and they will tell their friends, get it badly wrong and they will tell everyone.

2) It separates you from your competitors

Raise the bar on your competitors and they have to worry about you not the other way round. Give exceptional customer service and you will attract and retain more customers, word soon spreads, especially in today's world of social networking. The buzz helps increase your market share.

3) It gets you closer to your customers

They feel valued, that you can see things from their point of view, and so they buy more. The closer you can get to your customers the more difficult it is for your competitors to win their business. So stay close, and keep them happy.

4) Expenditure is under the spotlight

Whether you sell to consumers, or other businesses, there is a focus on costs and getting value for money. This is not just about the sales experience any more, when people are spending their hard earned cash, they expect the after sales service that goes with that. Customers need to feel that they are spending their money wisely and that they are appreciated for making that choice to spend with you.

In business to business sales, purchasing decisions are being taken by more senior managers, and their experience focuses not only on the sale but the after sales service they will receive.

5) Fewer unhappy customers

The less unhappy customers you have the more repeat business you are likely to achieve. That means that you can start to look at the lifetime value of a customer rather than a one-off sale. If you are losing less customers you can focus your energies on winning and retaining business rather than fighting fires.

6) And if things go wrong?

We do not live in a perfect world and things may from time to time go wrong for your customers. Good companies are committed to improving the fabric of their service so that the people who buy from them have a good customer experience.

When things go wrong, those companies that put it right for their customers are the ones that retain rather than lose customers.

Impossible Until Someone Does It

One of the things I have noticed in life is the number of times that people declared that things were impossible. It was not necessarily impossible through the laws of physics, but that it was something that just could not be done. Perhaps the most famous example of something that was "impossible" was the four-minute mile.

Records Made to Be Broken … Except One?

As someone who ran track and cross-country for four years, one of the things that I know well in the world of sports is the pursuit of records. Whether it is a personal record, a team record, a county record, a state record, a national record, a junior record, a collegiate record, or a world record, the pursuit of records is vital to the world of distance running. One of the most prestigious is the mile. Four laps, one minute per lap was something that people thought was impossible for decades.

Professional runners in the 19th century could muster no better than the 4:12 3/4 posted by Walter George of Great Britain in 1886, a record that would not have surpassed until 1915, which was broken in turn by the great Paavo Nurmi of Finland in 1923, when he ran 4: 10.4. The 4:10 barrier was finally crossed Jules Ladoumegue of France in 1931. Then, the record steadily fell for the next 14 years, to 4: 01.6 by Gunder Hagg of Sweden in 1945. Then, the record held. There was a fear that runners would literally die before their bodies would allow them to run a four-minute mile.

A Medical Experiment

One of the people determined to test that notification was a British medical student, Roger Bannister. Devoting his lunch breaks to training, while taking weekends off, Roger Bannister tested his body and did his best to determine what made a great distance runner. He developed his confidence when running a 2: 59.2 1200m in 1952, which convinced him that he could run the fourth lap fast enough to do the impossible. He finished a disappointing fourth in the 1952 Olympics, respectively running under the previous world record for 1500m. The next year, he ran a 4: 03.6 mile, convincing him that he could trim another four seconds off his time and become the first to do the impossible. While he was making his run, John Landy of Australia was also making his push for history, running a mile in 4:02 in January 1954. A sense of excitement was in the air in the world of track and field.

Not Ideal

On May 6, 1954, 25-year-old Roger Bannister was entered in a race in Oxford. Before the race, winds were over 25 mph, and the cinder track was soggy from the rain. Roger Bannister considered withdrawing to conserve his energy for another day. However, he changed his mind, and decided to run. However, he ran, and when the track announcer said the number three, there was a deafening roar. Roger Bannister had done the impossible! He had run four laps in under four minutes! His final time was 3: 59.4, and his immortality was guaranteed.

Who We Remember

Landy would not be denied, however. Only six weeks later, Bannister's world record would fall to Landy, who ran the mile in 3: 57.9. The two would race in August at the Empire Games in Vancouver, the first time that two sub-four milers ever raced, and the only time that all of the sub-four milers in the world were gathered in one place. In an iconic moment, Bannister won the race when he passed Landy on his right, and Landy looked over his left shoulder to see where Bannister was.

However, Roger Bannister never owned the world record again, and he retired from racing at the end of the month after winning the 1500m in the European Championships. The four-minute mile has become so commonplace that four high-schoolers in the United States alone have accomplished this feat. Today, the world record stands at 3:43 by Hicham El-Gharrouj of Morocco. Then again, Roger Bannister will always be remembered because he was the first, and no one can ever take that away.

What new grounds will you blaze? After all, everything seems impossible … until the first time someone does it.

The Joy of Less

All great thinkers understood that if we want our life to fascinate and fulfill us, we should never abandon unspoken maxims of our childhood.

With our growing wisdom, once again when we return to childhood, the world becomes our canvas. We open up to more possibilities, more learning and imagination and the results are more magical and exuberant.

So, this summer we headed out to a quaint holiday in the quietest little corner of South Maharashtra in Satara district. I wanted to be somewhere that's not clouded with things I could probably do without, at least for 2 days, and a place where I could draw a landscape of my childhood.

I wanted to be close to Mother Earth. I wanted to run faster, talk to silence and eavesdrop on birds. I wanted to dance harder like these free agents. Probably all I wanted was to happily yell like a baby in an environment that has no rules … and no time line.

About 100 Kms from Pune this picture perfect place promised us to lose ourselves to the joys of childhood. We went to Panchgani. It's a name derived partly from the 5 hills that surround it. Gani means a settlement.

At an altitude of 1334 Metres, it's one such hill station that is delightfully quiet, relatively non-commercialized and truly quintessential. One glimpses at the architecture of the old British buildings, the Parsi houses, and the much -amed boarding schools that have been in existence for over a century.

I had a life-changing realization: "You only need a few colors to liven up your life if you are content with their hues." It was a kind of a minimalist being born.

We were at a campsite where experience is simple, basic, rugged, but well connected with nature. Before I could browse the place we read the writing on the wall. After parking our car on a narrow sidewalk we climbed a few steps up, to reach tent no. 1.

Perched on the foothills behind and overlooking a valley on our right and front, this was our home for next 2 days.

Since it was the farthermost tent of the total 10 tents in a winding fashion on the same platform in a row, we were at the dead end. The signal of nature was excellent under cloud-kissed mountains!

On entering our summer sojourn my eyes met amenities, which were the humble substitutes of luxury.

The 2 cots joined to form a double bed, a lantern on the left side table, a bunk bed for kids, and an oxygen cylinder for our safety were all that met our eyes first.

It was breezy and biting cold. The rain refused to stop. I feared the tent will blow away, but it proved its might. The sight was humble with things low on the list. We looked around for "what is there and what is not."

The dressing area with a lantern hanging on one corner of mirror was a shockingly pleasant sight! There was either an air-conditioner or a refrigerator. What to talk of a TV, even telephone was not in sight.

The floor fan stood sad and forlorn in a corner. That lonesome did not even laugh full throated. While it served us, we could count its moving blades. And, that was the maximum speed!

It was typically an environment in its uniqueness where the most basic pieces of today's life were missing. Kids frolicked hopping on to the bunk beds.

Obviously, we did not expect a wooden door. A mere zipper to our privacy was all in service. So, a bit of gymnastics was required to open an all-around zip measuring 6ft something – to head out and in. We repeated this exercise as many times as we went out.

A President of International Montessori Council, Tim Seldin rightly said, "Children have an inbuilt drive for discovery." My daughter invented a way to lock the tent.

The gurgling sound of rain with an astounding breeze was heard in this cocoon having low wattage bulbs making the environment romantically cozy.

It rained furiously. Before it could pour again we decided to head for lunch. It was arranged near Jackfruit trees under heavy laden sky. (Jackfruit which is cooked as an exotic vegetable in the North is eaten as a fruit in Maharashtra.)

The fierce wind made a baby jackfruit fall with a thud! How often do we rejoice such simple gifts of nature? The nature bathed to its heart's content. We waited in resort's 7ft by 7ft office till the sky became blue again.

The food was not scrumptious but definitely sumptuous. Evening tea was served in the tent. It was brought to us in an Aluminum ketli – so typical of the times gone by!

Children were excited to experience its pout! We discovered everything to our joy. It was a completely different holiday where we waited in anticipation – what next? "

The highlight of this place was disconnection with the world so you could enjoy your own world. That's the catch!

Such holidays give you time to re-invent your relations. Even if you feel hospitalized, there is no parole! (Pun!)

Whosoever you choose from your 'contact list' and bring with you here, it's the close proximal – minus the most notorious pings of WhatsApp – that binds you together. All you need is to sign in your offline hangout sitting on a cemented bench, 2 humble chairs and a table to enjoy a continuous log in.

The nature becomes your computer screen.

You may start with a non-stop chat, but when battery lows down you send SOM (Short Oral Messages) then there is a time when you switch to twittering and perfectly when the batteries become too low to respond, one by one we see all leaving the group chat.

Have you experienced similar things? When one goes into sleepcation, the other follows, too. Likewise, we all drift into that direction.

Studies show we have abilities to initiate new ideas, and can solve problems exclusively if we sit down together and allow ideas to collide. No wonder if it was Gmail, Google Earth, and its flaglish AdSense program, these all great only out of this freedom.

So, we sat there exploring the concept of MORE IN LESS and began to count the benefits of this life as opposed to what we all live in.

We chase to possess, buy compulsively and may not use the stuff at times. Some do it to satisfify their egos, others become victims for comparisons and still others, to ask for validation from strangers. We want to earn praise for a big house but do not have 'time' to spend time there. We do not wear clothes we bought 3 years ago because these get lost in the pile. Similar goes for cars and gizmos and the list goes on …

Had we bought less number, the subject of subtraction would not arise. Why can not we live with just the basic needs and keep our lives simple? These were a few questions that popped up.

At this creative detox zone regardless of our any project or dream we disclosed in 'less is more' philosophy. It was a great connect!

In these hours the only dessert we had was what we fostered through uninterrupted engagement amongst ourselves. We unleashed a child in us and felt satisfied with whatever we had in the platter. In this never ending process of thinking and unthinking, we learned and unlearned.

That is how our calendar rolled out to the last evening. We concluded, whatever the style of our life, finally what gives us happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment, we MUST pursue only that.

We must know where our peace lies. Whether it's the life with humble means or loaded with richness? We must know to shape it into meaningful lasting joy. Also, we should be aware when and what, we should ward off our life.

A thick curtain of rain separated us from the mountains. It was time for hot tea and mixed-vegetable pakoras. Clouds turned dark again. This time it signaled the night.

Chatting while enjoying the warmth of bon fire embers with a rich taste of drink and delicious dinner, we forgot the impending con that lay ahead – a pathetic road condition till 5km from the resort. We slept early to head back early since children had to go back to work.

For those who wish to seek a virtuous laziness, walk meditation and complete workshop of detoxification, they must plan a holiday, not necessarily this kind, but one that lulls them into inertia.

With our sense appendages we can smell the beauty of lessons that a holiday teachers us. This time is meant only for a reunion – of family, of ideas, thoughts, and some creative detox of mind.

It was a project out of the ordinary. Here, our experience was less scattered, less harried, more present and more deliberate. We concluded, with several things to live without, one has to have a deep self-reading.

Given the option, will we resort to this style? We explored and had a majestic return …

It's your turn, now.

Is Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) The Reason For Your Hair Loss?

Despite the fact that individuals have been experiencing baldness and trying to find its causes since the starting point of modern civilization, new revelations and finds are being made almost every day. Scientists are not just trying and discovering new types of treatment methods, such as latest hair transplantation techniques, but scientists are likewise revealing reasons for male pattern baldness that were mostly unknown before.

For instance, consider Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA), a type of possibly permanent baldness that was first recognized in early 1990s. Figuring out what Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) looks like and the individuals who are at the most risk is certainly the most ideal approach to diagnose the condition early and evade sever damage.

Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia is one of a few unique types of scarring alopecia, sections of male pattern baldness that occurs when there's an attack of a basic health condition or external natural factor and crushes the hair follicles, and then it replaces them with scar tissue.

FFA results in causing a symmetrical band of baldness on the front and sides of the head, which makes it appear like the whole hair line is going in reverse. This happens because FFA is recognized from different types of scarring alopecia by its distinct nature and movement.

This typically incorporates a dynamic thinning of the sideburns and the disappearance of the eyebrows. The frontal hair line may seem battered or worn-out as hair follicles are damaged and replaced with scar tissue. By all accounts, hair follicles at the edges of the bald region may look to be red, white and swollen, gleaming scars might remain behind.

Frontal fibrosing alopecia has been accounted for now and then in post-menopausal females who have crossed the age of 50. However, there have been many cases found in females who are in their 40s too. While extremely uncommon, there have additionally been some situations where the condition has occurred in men.

FFA is regularly misdiagnosed, and can be easily confused with traction hair fall, which is a significantly more common problem that happens when tight haircuts like ponytails, or braids put extreme pressure on the hair follicles.

However, Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) is considered as a much more serious problem whereas traction hair loss is seen as temporary and can be easily easily by medicine. If you or your hair transplant surgeon fails to catch Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) early, then it may result in permanent damage of hair follicles. This makes it even more important to visit only the best hair transplant surgeon .

A lot of research has been done and many studies are still going on for Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, yet the causes behind its occurrence remains basically unknown. Many surgeons offer hair transplant treatment to cure FFA.

Land Purchase Considerations

If you are looking to purchase land, there are several important items to consider.

  1. What is the cost of the land? If I pay $ 1,000,000 for 10 acres to build a shopping center that does cost fit within my budget? Or is $ 500,000 the most I can pay and still have a profitable project?
  2. Does the location work for the intended use? For example if someone is trying to build a convenience store is the site in a high traffic area? Or if someone wants to build expensive homes is the location suitable for million dollar homes or is it too close to commercial uses?
  3. What jurisprudence is the land located in? The City Limits? Is it in the Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) of the City? Is it in the County? The jurisprudence that the property is located in will dictate which rules and regulations need to be followed. It may be advantageous to be in a particular jurisdiction (City A vs City B) rather than another. There may also be state and federal laws that will impact the property as well.
  4. If the property is in the City, what is the zoning category assigned to the property? The zoning category dictates the land use allowed on the property. If a property does not have zoning or if a zoning change is to be requested then that will add to the time and cost. Something to keep in mind is that zoning change requests are not always approved.
  5. Deed restrictions are private agreements and restrictions specific to the land in question. They are noted in the deed, and restrict the use of the real estate in some way. Deed restrictions can be attached to property whether it is zoned commercial or residential and are in addition to local, state and federal rules. Deed restrictions can be more restrictive than other governing rules.
  6. Have utilities been extended to the site? Utilities would include water, wastewater, electricity, natural gas, telephone, and cable television. Water is the most important. Water and wastewater are typically the most expensive utilities to extend to a property. There are other ways to get water service such as drilling a well or for wastewater constructing a septic system. However these solutions also involve ongoing maintenance and a limited lifespan.
  7. Is any portion of the property in a floodplain ? If so then the build-able or develop-able area of the property will be reduced. This in turn will typically reduce the value of the property.
  8. What are the topographic conditions of the land? Is it flat or is there a slope to the land? The more steep the slope the more it will cost to develop the land because of the necessary cutting and filling of the soil. In general flat land is preferred despite a hillside location for a home or office can provide a very nice view.
  9. Is there a roadway access to the property? If so is there an existing driveway and cure cut in place or will this have to be allowed and constructed? How likely is it that a right can be obtained at this location or is there already a driveway nearby which may diminish the chances? Is the roadway in a state of disrepair? If so then what are the chances that the roadway will be repaired and how might this affect my planned use?
  10. An easement is a legal right to use another's land for a specific purpose. Are there any inconveniences on the property that might restrict or otherwise unduly affect my ability to improve the property? Examples of easements include public utility easements which allow utility providers to install and maintain utilities. Easements can also be the means of providing access to properties that do not otherwise have roadway frontage.
  11. A lien is an encumbrance on one person's property to secure a debt the property owner owes to another person. Before purchasing property it is important to determine through the Title Search and Commitment process if there is an outstanding lien on the property. It is best to have the property owner take care of liens before the buyer closes on the property because it is easier to leverage a lien being released.

Calling All Architects: Facade Access and Maintenance Strategy Support

Architects: We Feel Your Pain!

With new CDM regulations now in place, the risks placed on the building designer have changed. There is a greater need to ensure that safe access to the building façade can be obtained for future cleaning and maintenance, but this does not always fall within the remit of the architect.

Many structures built within the past 15 years now require specialist façade cleaning, repair or protection, but due to changes in design or budget exercises by the contractor, access solutions to the façade have been removed from the schemes. This leaves clients with little information or an expensive solution for future maintenance; This does not only apply to access, but also to cleaning methodologies. The result is a client left with minimal information and a potentially sky high building cleaning bill.

Specialist Façade Support for Architects & Building Designers

A service provider needs to support building designers and architects, working with them to ensure that façade access solutions are practical for the façade cleaning, repairs or maintenance in the future.

More importantly they need to work with the architects to help them create more effective maintenance methodologies and programs, so that the building user can then implement them and the building's façade condition is retained for the future.

A façade management framework will ensure that the commercial property façade is fully managed and protected within a planned maintenance program.

CPD Training

You may need clarity and support as a commercial property specialist looking for proven strategies, solutions and answers on how best to tackle issues surrounding façade cleaning and restoration projects.

With so many different building designs, materials, access issues and limitations how do you determine which is the most effective cleaning method? Whether it's working around the access strategy or ensuring the client receives the best value, there are many questions you may have.

A Top Tip for Anyone Looking to Procure Building / Facade Cleaning

After speaking to a number of façade cleaning companies, you may be finding it difficult to gauge which service provider is going to give you the best results. One company has suggested sandblasting, whilst another has suggested jet washing … where do you go from here and how do you know which suggestion is the most suitable for your building?

We all need some assurance from time to time, and sometimes independent verification can be the only way to do it.

AAMA and BRE have published a variety of industry whitepapers on façade management which can be invaluable when establishing which service provider is providing you with the appropriate solution.

It's all about equipping yourself with the correct information to help you make an informed decision about your need to preserve or even ENHANCE your building's asset value.

Choose the Right Soldering Tools for Your Pendants

When you are familiar in making the jewelry, you are probably also familiar with the solder. For who still does not know the solder, it is the metal alloy which is used to create the jewelry. One of the popular jewelry which is liked by the people is the pendants. If you like the pendant and you want to make it by yourself, you will need the soldering iron.

The tool is used to melt the solder and join the pendant's component which is separated to each other. It is better for you to choose the right tool to make the pendant. It is because the iron has many different types which provide you the different heat's amount to melt your solder.

1. The propane torch: it can be said that this tool is the best tool to help you in pendant making process. The fuel of this tool is the propane which is the gas type. The tool is used to solder the copper but it can also work well with the other metals. The propane torch is also able to reach 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit. It is quite temperature if you want to melt the solder.

2. The butane torch: It is another choice for you to use in the pendant jewelry. The fuel which is used to power this torch is the butane gas. You can use this tool to sold various metals. It can reach 2,500 Fahrenheit degrees which is hot enough to melt the metal effectively.

3. The oxy-acetylene torch which is the combination of acetylene and the oxygen: Another good tool to help you in jewelry making you can use. It produces the hotter heat than the propane or butane. By using this torch, you can produce 6,300 Fahrenheit degrees which let you cut, attach, and melt the solder.

4. The soldering pencils or pens: it is suitable for you who are not yet familiar with the torch. It has the lightweight which makes you able to hold and move it easily. The fuel which powers this tool is the butane and can produce the 2,300 Fahrenheit degrees temperature heat.

5. The soldering irons: it can be said that the iron is not recommended in pendant jewelry making.

How to Masturbate Correctly So Your Penis Doesn’t Shrink in Size Or Get Damaged

It’s no secret that most men masturbate as soon as they are able to. It provides a release of physical, emotional, and sexual tension. While there are methods of masturbating that can increase the size of the penis, there are some things to keep in mind so that you don’t masturbate your way to a smaller penis.

Scarring: Many men, especially when their hormones are running rampant, tend to masturbate excessively. This can cause blistering and tearing of the skin of the penis producing a scab. This inevitably leads to scarring of the penis and will restrict its length and girth upon erection. It will also last a lifetime, so be cautious when over-masturbating. It will also desensitize your penis to sexual stimulation.

Gripping Tissue Damage: Most men tend to use a hardened grip when masturbating and this can cause not only damage to the skin of the penis, but also to its internal cellular structure through this intense gripping. This can lead to irreparable tissue damage and decrease penile sensitivity.

The key is to take a day or two off between masturbatory sessions. The hand is not as soft as the vagina, so too much masturbation will desensitize your penis and can lead to shrinkage if you over-do it. If you lay off between sessions, it will give your penis a much better chance to heal. Don’t over do it.

Using dry hands to masturbate is definitely a mistake. The increased friction of dry skin on dry skin is also damaging and certainly can result in penis desensitization. The key is to use a good lubricant – water-based and not alcohol-based. Don’t used perfumed lotions or anything with ingredients you can’t even pronounce due to their chemical nature. Whatever sort of lubricant you use will be directly absorbed into the penis. So make sure you get a lubricant that is somewhat organic or natural in its formulation. Only a lunatic would want to directly absorb some bizarre chemicals into his penis.

Wearing a condom can also help decrease tissue damage during masturbation. A condom acts as a second skin and will take up a lot of the wear and tear of masturbating without making the penis go through it. As always, never re-use a condom. Dispose of them as soon as you are finished.

The best way to masturbate is slowly. Try to focus your mind more on your fantasy-erotic simulation and let your mind take over as the best way to achieve orgasm. Never masturbate too hard or with too much intensity, as it could damage your penis.

Some men find that they can squeeze the penis as a way of masturbation. This would result in less frictional damage to the penis and also helps replicate the compression of the vaginal cavity.

There are real methods of enlarging your penis that are finally available to all men who are interested in learning. Read IRON MAN PENIS – THE RUSSIAN SYSTEM if you want to learn the secrets of tried-and-true penis enlargement.

Network + Exam Tutorial: Ports, Port Numbers, and Sockets

If there's one thing that can be a bit confusing to many Network + certification exam candidates, it's the concept of ports and sockets. Well, it was confusing to me when I got started with computer certificates! Let's take a look at ports and sockets, and why we need them in the first place.

Past Network + exam tutorials have focused on how two computers start communicating, but what we've got to keep in mind is that host PCs may and probably will have several different kinds of communications going on at the same time. A single PC may be sending email, receiving a Telnet request, and accessing the Internet at the same time. These conversations have to hide separate .. but how?

Through the use of ports, that's how. Each potential type of conversation a host can have is preassigned a port number, and these port numbers allow different types of communications to take place over the same physical cable by keeping them logically separated.

Let's go back to that PC we were talking about. If the PC is using SMTP for email communications, it will use port 25. At the same time, the host will be using port 23 for Telnet and port 80 to access the web via HTTP. The same physical cable is in use, but the communications are kept logically separate by use of port numbers.

A socket is simply the host's IP address followed by a colon and the port number in use. If the previously mentioned host had an IP address of 10.1.1.1, the socket number for SMTP would be 10.1.1.1:25, 10.1.1.1:23 for Telnet, and 10.1.1.1:80 for HTTP.

The range of port numbers is quite large – 0 through 65,535 – and the 0 – 1023 range is known as the well-known port numbers. Do not worry, you do not have to memorize all of them! As you gain more and more experience with networks, you'll be surprised how many of these you remember without even thinking about it. In the meantime, for both your Network + and CCNA exams as well as working with real-world networks, it's a good idea to know this list of often-used ports.

File Transfer Protocol uses both ports 20 and 21.

Telnet uses port 23.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) uses port 25.

Domain Name Service (DNS) uses port 53.

HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) uses port 80, while the secure version of HTTP, HTTPS, uses port 443.

Believe me, this is just a very short beginning list of port numbers you'll need to know to pass the Network + exam. If you're familiar with these protocols, that's great – and if you're not, just look forcoming Network + exam tutorials!

Effective Acupressure Points to Treating Migraines and Headaches

Migraines and headaches are two of the most common problems ensued by people, that people suffer from. A headache maybe throbbing and mild, which lasts a few hours, while if some, it might last for days. Massive headaches can be the reasons of tension, emotional changes as well as excess stress, whereas a migraine is a more complex situation, with the blood vessels of the brain enlarging to an extent where it releases chemicals from nerve fibers causing inflammation and severe pain.

Causes of Migraines

Although migraines may have some specific reasons, there may be certain points that act as triggers to the causes of migraines. These will be:

1. Hormonal Changes – This can be one important cause to a headache.

2. Eating habits – Another major trigger to a migraine is the food we consume. Tobacco, alcohol, caffeine and fermented foods are the major triggers to this.

3. Other causes – Tension, stress, work pressure and sleeping disorders can also be reasons to nausea and severe headaches.

The six most important regions to relieve heads and migraines:

1. Forehead – Points on the face and forehead are yang pints, full of energy that move from face and head and flow downwards.

2. Third eye point – The point where the two eyebrows meet the nose is the third eye point. Applying pressure on this region will help you tie eye strains and headaches. Apply the pressure for a minute and then move to other points.

3. Bright light – The inner corner of the eyes just below the eyebrows is the bright light section. Sinus headaches and allergy symptoms can be relieved by pressure on these points. Pressure should be applied for a minute on both sides.

4. Temple region – A chain of points that curl around the ear, in the temple region. Starting from the top of the ear these are located just one finger width from the ear. All the points needarily have to be worked together for effective results.

5. Face region – Both sides of the nostril are the points to this region. Pressure on these points will help you in opening up sinuses and tension head points.

6. Shoulder Well – Halfway to the edge of the shoulder and the base of your neck this point is located. Applying any pressure on this point helps in reducing shoulder and neck stiffness, thus relieving neck pain. Asthma and spasms can also be treated by this.

Acupressure has been rated the most effective medicine in treating long term migraine problems. Try this for better and long-lasting relief.

Home Security Locks and Hinges

Having dealt with the doors on your home in article 3, next I would like to take a look at locks and hinges.

Many homes use the lock-in-knob, this offers you convenience but it does not offer security from break ins. The fact is that many lock-in-knob type locks can be opened using a simple credit card, your home is just not secure if you are using this type of lock.

Lock-in-knob type locks are fine for internal doors that you want to lock for privacy reasons, but all exterior doors need a deadbolt lock to give the level of security required. With this type of lock when you operate the key the mechanism slides a strong metal bolt from the door into the door’s frame.

These are the things you should make sure of when you buy a deadbolt lock:

The bolt extends at least 1″ into the front edge of the door frame.

The strike plate is attached through the trim to the door frame with screws at least 3″ long.

The lock has a rotation case hardened shroud that prevents it from being twisted off with a pair of pliers or other tools.

There are two common types of deadbolts:

Single Cylinder Deadbolts

They have a thumb turn on the interior side. They are easy to use and could speed up exit in the event of an emergency like a house fire. Remember if they are used near a window they can be opened by breaking the window and reaching through. This type of deadbolt lock will not prevent a burglar from using the door to remove your property.

Double Cylinder Deadbolts

Use keys on both sides of the lock. This type of lock is more suitable if there is glass window within 40″ of the lock, but they can present a potential fire escape hazard. This type of deadbolt lock can delay a burglar that wants to use the door to remove your property.

The final part of the locking mechanism is the strike plate; this is attached to the door frame with screws. The metal bolt of the deadbolt lock slides into the strike plate to secure the door to the door frame.

A high security strike plate is needed to keep the metal bolt from being forced from the door frame when locked. A high security strike plate should have at least 4 screws that are a minimum of 3 inches long.

Finally its time to consider the other edge of the door, there is no point in having a great deadlock fitted to a door with weak hinges. Many door hinges are often fitted with the same 3/4″ screws as used for common strike plates. Replace these with 2″ to 3″ fully threaded screws so the hinges are anchored to the door frame.

Make sure that the hinge pins are not exposed to the outside so a potential burglar can remove the pins to gain entry.

Hinges should be pinned by installing a partially threaded screw into the frame side of the hinge. The unthreaded portion of the screw is left exposed and the head of the screw is cut off. Then a corresponding hole is drilled into the door and hinge on the opposite side, so that when the door is closed the exposed portion of the screw fits in to the door, so preventing the door from the being lifted from its hinges.

Having a good lock fitted is only half the story; you must look after the keys, as many as half of all burglaries take place without forced entry. It is surprising how often the burglar just uses a key.

Make sure your keys don’t fall into the wrong hands, the following tips should help:

Never carry identification on your key ring or holder.

Change the locks and keys when you move into a new house or apartment.

Know who has keys to your home.

Don’t give keys to maintenance or deliver people. If you must leave a key leave it with a trusted neighbor.

Make sure that each member of your family knows where his or her key is.

Never hide a key outside. Burglars always know all the hiding places.

Do not hang keys on hooks within plain view inside your home.

Well that just about covers the locks and doors on your home, apart from one very important item, Patio or Sliding Glass doors, these are so important that I have written a separate item about them for the next article in this series.

The Illumination On Wall Candles

During the olden times, candles were used more because they cheap to produce and they worked relatively well considering the needs of the people at the time. Some chandeliers before used numerous candles to light up an entire ballroom and do take note that in a ballroom they used more than just one chandelier. Now with the use of electricity, candles became more of an emergency staple, wherein they are more commonly used as backups when a blackout occurs. However, there are those innovative people who see candles as something much more different than just a mere backup. Wall candles are often seen as decorations for different places, and you can not change the fact that they really make a difference in terms of design.

A candle is one of the most basic objects to make: it is composed of wax and a wick. When you burn the wick, the wax slowly melts, making the wick last longer than it was made to do. Candles take up many shapes and forms with some of them built as tea candles while others as decorative ornaments, the most common candle is the candlestick. Wall candles, however, also use the same principles as other candles. It is just that they are used in a slightly different manner.

In terms of candleholders, they all come in different shapes and sizes. Candlesticks are candle holders made to hold individual candles, but when multiple candlesticks are placed together, it is called a candelabrum. The term chandelier came from the fact that multiple candles were being held up in the air. Tea light candles have a wide variety of holders made for them, such as small glass holders and even multi candle stands. A hurricane stand is sold for decorative purposes, but they can also be seen being utilized as a candle holder used outside the house. A sconce is for wall candles that are often used in groups to promote a certain ambiance in a location.

Despite the loss of popularity, candles are still being used in many different ways. Aside from being an emergency source of light, they are often used as a means to set the ambiance of a room or a specified area. Candle-lit dinners are there to give an aura of intimacy. Restaurants usually use wall candles to encourage a feeling of coziness and an earthy feel. This ambiance of coziness comes from the yellow light that emanates from the candle, highlighting the feeling of relaxation.

Candles have evolved from being used as a practical, everyday object to a mere emergency kit staple to a mood setter and decorative object. In one way or another, candles have permeated your life and have helped you in many ways. The best thing about wall candles is that that is not restricted to restaurants, and can be installed in your own home. Do take note that having candle holders bolted on your walls do pose a serious threat to the safety of your home, and there are certain safety measures that should be applied. Good thing that most sconces are safety regulated, so the only thing you need to do is bolt it in, light the candle and feel the ambiance of a room change.

LED Headlight Bulb Conversion Kit Upgrades for Car Headlamps

In 2015 there are quite a few companies selling LED headlight kits.

The things that you need to look for are Heat Dissipation, Beam cut-offs, and the type of light emitting diodes that are being used. With LED headlight technology, you can’t have one without the other, and in the end, the same old adage, “you get what you pay for”, still rings true.

If you have great Philips or CREE LEDs in the product, but don’t have the technology and thermal management systems to properly interact with these LEDs, you are simply wasting your money.

Thermal management is key in getting the longest life out of the LEDs.

You want the LEDs to be bright, but you also want them to last the distance.

Beam cut-offs are also important so as to give the best beam of light possible out the front of your car, truck, motorcycle, or driving light.

A lot of companies simply do not have the depth of technology to be able to get these three elements working together, to maintain brightness, beam direction, and longevity.

Thermal management systems have come a long way since the “bad old days” when people started pumping more power through light emitting diodes.

The main issue was that light emitting diodes burnt out very quickly in high temperature environments.

LED headlamp bulb manufacturers are now using either the “Fan” type system coupled with copper pipe tubing technologies to dissipate the heat away from the light emitting diodes to prolong their life.

This in itself is a definite science, and without the right people, money, and equipment, you will not go far.

Luckily, a few companies are emerging as leaders in this industry and so providing the market with an affordable alternative to old halogen technology, and even HID technology.

There are many types of bulbs available that you can retro-fit into your car, but make sure you check the size of the LED bulb before you buy them.

Each car, or application, can have specific limitations on how much room is available in the headlights housing so make sure you check that the LED bulb is going to fit your specific application.

LED bulbs for cars are now becoming a lot brighter, but remember that they are still not as bright as HID.

They key to buying high performance LED headlight bulbs is to go with the leaders in the industry and pay the little extra for the best products on the market.

Look for companies who have been dealing in this technology from its conception and you will be well on your way to finding a solution that stands the test of time.

Home Security in One Hour

Home burglary is on the rise because it is one of the easiest crimes to commit. Statistics from every crime bureau support this fact. In addition to the burglary, victims often experience financial problems, and time lost from work to handle the legal, insurance and personal problems associated with being a victim. So, as disturbing as this may be, we homeowners must accept this reality and take action to make our family, our home, and our possessions as safe as possible.

A good starting point is to have an active Neighborhood Watch in place. Members watch out for their neighbors and report suspicious activity to the police. There are other ways to cause a thief to bypass your home and move on to an easier target. These include using quality deadbolt locks, installing solid exterior doors, using motion sensing outdoor lighting, and further methods.

The best choice is to install a home security system. Ninety percent of police believe alarms deter burglary attempts. Now, there is really no excuse for not having a home security system of some type. There has never been a time when such good products have been available at such low prices. It is possible to install a wireless home security system in less than an hour at a cost of less than $100.00. You may be thinking that something this simple must be a toy. Quite the opposite is true. Sophisticated technology has it made it possible to produce these feature packed systems that are so simple to install.

You will probably be able to mount the main components, control console, sounding device, motion sensor, and door/window sensor just by looking at the layout diagram on the box! Most basic system kits include the parts necessary to protect a door or window, a motion detector, a key chain remote control, and the control console and a screaming siren sounding device. So, one hour and you have basic home security protection installed and working.

With the basic system in place, you can further tailor your system to meet your individual needs. You can add additional door/window sensors, motion detectors, outdoor lighting, smoke, fire, or other specialty sensors. Key chain remote controls can be given to your children. In most cases, a siren or alarm bell will scare off a home intruder. Tell your neighbors about your security system, so they will react when they hear the alarm sound. You can make a decision to have your system not just sound an audible alarm, but dial your mobile phone, or dial an alarm monitoring service.

Connecting your home security system to an alarm monitoring company provides you with additional peace of mind. Some people incorrectly believe that burglar alarms directly dial the police. Actually, most police departments will only accept an alarm notification call from a central monitoring station. Excessive false alarms have forced police departments to adopt this procedure. Alarm monitoring is especially great for elderly family members or loved ones with a medical condition. Panic alarms receive special priority over burglar alarms. The monitoring company can notify an ambulance service or dispatch the police. It is comforting to know that no matter where you are, if a break-in occurs police dispatch will be notified of the intruder in your home.

If you are just living as usual, with no security measures in place, you are putting your family, your home, and your property at unnecessary risk. Install a home security system, and make sure that your home is safe and secure.

Indeed, they often double up as burglary safes for valuables, important documents like title deeds, policy documents, passports etc. This is due to the fact that thefts have been a long plaguing issue since time in memorial. Made to match the normal cabinets in order to blend well into the background, they come in similar sizes and colors. The most popular types are the lateral and vertical fire proof filing cabinets which allow great versatility for filing as well as storage.

They are tested to ensure the authenticity of fire resistance. Often referred to as UL fire resistant ratings, these tests are conducted by the Underwriters Laboratories which sets the standards for industry fire resistant benchmarks. Take for instance, fire proof filing cabinets are often labeled as 1 hour 350 degree Fahrenheit UL Rated. This would mean that your cabinet is fire proof for one hour, maintaining a temperature of below 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Some stress tested in terms of impact, from a drop point of 30 feet above ground level. In addition, they can also be tested for explosion hazard rating as well.

Very often, authentic and reputed manufacturers will include lifetime warranty on all operational parts. And when the safe or cabinets have been damaged in the event of fire, some even offer free replacements. So if you are looking for good fireproof file cabinets for your business or home office, be sure to check out the authentic manufacturers for total peace of mind.
