Parking Signs Rules – Is Your Parking Lot Compliant?

Using standard highway signs in your parking lot not only makes sign recognition easier and commands authority, it is now the law. Effective January 16, 2007, the Federal Highway Administration requires roads on private property that are "Open to Public Travel" to use the same sign design, sizes, and reflectivity as the highway signs.

This includes roads within shopping centers, parking lot areas, airports, sports arenas, toll roads and other similar facilities. Any road that is privately owned but where the public is allowed to travel without access restrictions including bike paths and recreational facilities must use the highway sign standards.

Parking lot owners and managers may reduce their exposure to costly lawsuits by updating their signs to the highway sign standards or phase them in as the old signs are replaced. There is a manual of standard sign designs named the MUTCD, (Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices). Most sign companies are familiar with the MUTCD or you can find them online.

Beyond the MUTCD, there is little guidance for the number and placement of parking lot signs except logic and common sense. The need for parking lot signs is very much related to the number of parking spaces and the facilities use. A large shopping center with many pedestrians and high vehicle turnover will require more signs than a small business park.

MUTCD signs are available in different sizes and reflectivity. The size of the sign required is related to its viewing distance. A larger sign can be seen from further away. As a rule of thumb, the sign's letter height should be one inch for every 50 feet that it required to be seen from. For example, if the sign needs to be read from 150 feet away, you should have at least a 3-inch letter. Larger is better.

The reflectivity of a sign is how bright it is when headlights shine on it. As light bulbs come in different brightness, 60, 75 and 100 watt bulbs, signals are available in engineer grade, high intensity and diamond grade reflectivity. Diamond grade reflective is the brightest. Traffic signs should be at least high intensity reflective.

Since parking lots are the one place where pedestrians and motorist freely roam, right of way signs are very important for safety. It is safest to place a sign anywhere a potential conflict may occur.

Right of way signs are Stop (R1-1), Yield (R1-2), Keep Right (R4-7), Do Not Enter (R5-1), and Pedestrian Crossing (W11-A2). These types of signs are typically used on the access driveway from the highway, along the building frontage, parking islands and for any ring roads. Any signs that are on the state highway's right of way must be the same size required for that highway. Stop signs on the state right of way are typically 30 inches. Because speed traveled in a parking lot is slower, stop signs can be smaller, typically 24 inches.

Pedestrian crossing signs are found at crosswalks and paths connecting to the building frontage. Bicyclist signs should be treated similar to pedestrian signs.

Speed limit signs should only be used on a ring road and are typically ignored and difficult to enforce against motorist infractions. Speed limits should be on 5 mile increments per MUTCD. In smaller parking lots it is illegally that speed limit signs would be needed because vehicles do not have enough space to travel at high speeds.

As for enabling motorist violations, without parking lots signals are installed as a result of engineering studies and certain criteria are met, enforcement of violations by motorist is impractical. There is also the Model Traffic Ordinance which provides provisions relating to police enforceances of traffic regulations on private property, which in a nutshell, is impractical.

Parking signs make it easier for visitors to know where the right spot to park is. This makes it convenient for them to get from their vehicle to a walkway or the facility. Some facilities will reserve parking spaces for special use, for example, Expectant Mothers, Employee of the Month, Clergy or Doctors. Parking signs are typically 12 "x 18" and should be placed no more than 150 feet apart when placed in series. If attached to a barrier or post the parking signs should be engineer grade reflective.

No Parking signs inform motorist where they can not park. Fire safety dictates that Fire Lane signals are posted along the frontage of a building and near fire hydrants. Other no parking signs are found near loading zones and intersections to provide an unobstructed line of sight for motorist. No truck signs are sometimes used because trucks are large and can obstruct the free movement of vehicles.

Handicap Parking signs are used to design areas reserved for the disabled typically found near the building. The handicap parking sign uses the blue wheelchair symbol on the sign. Each state has different requirements for the size and wording of the sign. Some laws require the space to be van accessible and specify fines for violations. It is best to check with the local zoning office for the requirements as they vary broadly.

Property Management signs are used to design areas or notify of rules and policies of the parking lot. Aisle marker signs placed on light poles help visitors remember where they parked. Not liable for loss or damage of property signs may reduce tort liability of the parking lot owner. No Loitering, No Trespassing, No Soliciting, and No Skateboarding signs are used to express management's policies.

How to Solder Copper Pipe

Learn how to Solder
Learning how to solder cooper pipes is one of the first things you learn in plumbing school. You need to find you own soldering techniques, the more you do it the more you get feel for it. You will ever find your groove and be good at soldering.

Soldering or sweating involves using a heart source preferred propane torch not a soldering iron to heat the pieces of copper you would like to sold, sold then got folded into the fitting bay what is known as "capillary action". Capillary action is just the physical action of the soldering sucked into the fitting. A soldered joint will last for years to come.

To ensure a proper soldered joint is made you will want to be sure to clean the fittings and pipe you are going to solder. Then you dry fit each piece to make sure that everything is plumb and fit properly. Then you simply grab a old rag to use to wipe and you are good to go.

Be sure to have all the proper soldering equipment to complete the job. Be sure you have all the fittings and all the proper pipe you will be using.

Cutting Copper Pipe
Use copper cutters to cut your pieces of pipe. Make a mark on the pipe where you want to make your cut. Put copper cutters over the cut line and tighten the cutters. Do not clamp the cutters down to hard because it will be harder to turn the cutters around the pipe. Once you have clamped the pipe with the cutters you can start to spin the cutters around clamping the cutters more as you go until the pipe is cut. Use the reamer on the copper cutters to ream out the end of the copper pipe you just cut.

Use emery cloth or sand cloth to clean the ends of the copper pipe where you are going to solder, until it looks clean. (you will be able to see where you cleaned) What this does is removes dirt and grease that creates oxidization. Being sure that you properly cleaned your pipe and fittings will ensure a leak free joint.
Using a wire brush the proper size, clean out each fitting just like the pipe before soldering. Then fit everything together to make sure that all your cut pieces are correct and that you cleaned enough of the ends of the pipe to solder.

Now take everything a part and use soldering flux on the ends where you cleaned the pipe and on the inside of each fitting. Only use a thin layer of flux because the solder will naturally go where the solder paste is and you do not want to make a mess. Then fit everything back together again.

It's GO time!
Heat the pipe and fitting evenly, keep in mind that where the pipe is in the fitting will take more heat, but not too much. Be sure to keep the heat moving; do not let it stay in one spot for too long, you will cook the fitting. After about 8-1o seconds your fitting and pipe should be hot enough to start putting solder in your fitting. If the solder does not melt on contact apply more heat. When the solder starts to drip out of the fitting then you have put enough solder in the joint and move on to the next one. A rule of thumb to remember is if using p pipe, you should only use about 1/2 inch of lead free solder. Sometimes it takes more but this is just to give you an idea on how much solder to use. Just to make it look pretty and professional wipe the joint after you have soldered it. Do not wipe the joint too early, it will get messy. I usually wait until it's not shiny anymore. It will also be very hot. If you can, make a temporary soldering station, where you can do as much soldering on the ground before tying it in. Also be careful not to get flux paste near or in your eyes it will burn.

There are also different sold types, the soldering mentioned is lead free soldering, you do not want to use lead solder. Lead soldering is done on drainage lines only and not allowed on potable water lines.

Removing Solder
If wanting to know how to desolder, or un-sweat your fittings, just heat up the fitting as normal and then take two sets of pliers and twist and pull. So hope you enjoyed these soldering tips and now I hope you know how to solder copper pipe.

Choosing the Best Doming Resin For Your Project

The economy, the environment, and numerous other causes are prompting more people than ever to learn new skills, and to tackle projects that they would have paid someone else to do in year's past, themselves. Whether it's repainting the house, or fixing up a sagging fence, folks today are finding ways to do more with less, and to be more resourceful. Of course, this extend beyond just household chores and maintenance. The world of arts and crafts, forever the realm of do-it-yourselfers, is experiencing a surge in interest, as more people have taken to creating their own decorations and jewelry items.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Not only are ranks of artists increasing, the new additions seem to have bought with them a new flair for doing things in ways not before seen. Without much further ado, we'll move on to the topic of this post: Doming resin.

Doming resins are basically just epoxy, but there are some important things to consider before you choose one that is appropriate for your project, and there are some helpful tips that we'll share with you to help you as your work with this medium.

Now, as stated, doming resin is just epoxy . But what should you be looking for as you collect your supplies for your next great project? Well, as you may know, the refining property of epoxy is that it consists of two parts, that when mixed, form an incredibly strong compound. And, as we discussed in our piece about epoxy spray paint, the amount of time it takes to cure is a very important item of information.

Before you begin working with doming resin, you need to ask yourself how much time you need before the epoxy becomes "unworkable," that is, before it cures into a state that can no longer be manipulated. This is all determined by the hardener, which is often referred to as the "Part B."

Epoxies can be found that cure in as little as 5 minutes, or as much as several hours. Furthermore, you can influence how long it takes by altering the temperature in your working environment. If you want to speed things up, turn up thermostat. If you'd like to maximize your working time, do your work in the cold temperature that you can stand.

If you're looking for a great all-purpose doming resin epoxy I usually recommend System Three's General Purpose Resin. It's top quality, and their customer service reps are as friendly as they come.

What You Should Know About Multimedia

In the last few years we have seen a major evolution in the computer industry especially in multimedia.

Multimedia and Internet are two of the dominant trends in the field of high technology equipment, software and telecommunications. Both subjects are represented more in Windows operating system, which contains very well known multimedia features. Another major trend is the explosion of computers on the PC households. Most computers sold on the market now include at least DVD-ROM unit.

In addition the sound boards market accept additional advanced audio performance, such as MIDI, which saw a spectacularly growing. With this technology evolution it is no wonder that Windows operating system includes a lot of multimedia features. Until a few years ago multimedia features usually included only the sounds of closing windows, opening windows, programs, etc and some warnings and a kind of "music" – electronic music. In the beginning electronic music was composed of combined sounds that could reproduce some musical and even some vague melodies which was extraordinary because it was easier to use than a audio cassette. After '95 when the Windows 95 operating system appeared, special software and hardware was created to convert music from tapes on audio CDs. Conversion was not total, but a transfer from the CD audio on the PC. Slowly things began to evolve showing more advanced systems and more efficient components. Today music is used mostly in compressed MP3 format, but it is heading to different types of media. In the past, computers tended to offer users a range of poor quality media, text and graphics. But the improved performance of hardware components in the industry have led to a wider range of products which use the CPU, graphics functions, the sound and full-motion video. To benefit from the advantages of multimedia components you need additional hardware, more RAM (16-32 MB of RAM) and probably a larger hard disk on which store to video and sound files that you use. Today, music and sound on the computer has become something vital. It should be process and compress in many ways but anyways quality should be provided. That's why some musical instruments started to be provided with the factory plugs (MIDI) Musical Instrument Interface. MIDI is a protocol which allows data transfer of digital music between electronic devices, whether PC or keyboard. Without the necessary hardware such as PC card with MIDI playback options, you will not have sound from MIDI data. So MIDI data contain only instructions that allow the desired musical sound to be reproduced. One of the advantages it has MIDI, compared to a normal WAV file is the file size. WAV files recorded all the sound and therefore can have huge dimensions. MIDI files contain only instructions for reproducing the sounds, and therefore are much smaller.

As the number of multimedia and games, including MIDI, grows, the number of sound cards that are sold with these capabilities (such as a standard MIDI port for connecting MIDI instruments) grows too. In addition for example you can use MIDI to emphasize the effect of multimedia presentations, which can sound realistic to emphasize visual presentation, which appears on the screen.

Still to record an album of quality music is not an easy process. You need computer processing. But the technician can not work without a good musician and a musician can not work well without a technician.

Windows offers several ways to use multimedia audio, including the ability to play audio compact disks and customizing the sound recording and playback. Playing audio CD on a CD-ROM installed on your computer is possible using the CD function Player. If you have a card, inserting the CD in the drive is enough to launch the CD Player: 1. Open the Start menu and choose the Accessories. 2. Select Multimedia and then select the CD player. 3. Access the CD Play.

Windows can also recognize automatically compact audio discs, when placed in the CD-ROM. Then when you start the CD audio is enough to click on CD Player. Since the CD Player runs per background, you can listen to audio CDs while working on other applications on your PC.

From the sound of old boards that were limited to beeps from a small speaker on the motherboard, towards the end of the '80 when sound cards have begun to work, multimedia and computer games led to a computer completely different level. Today these systems are more complex when it comes to high professional standards. Motherboard and the sound and the interface have more diverse features. Computer motherboard, also called the main board, is the most important component in the computer case. On it, there are applied following components: microprocessor, memory and other cards inserted into special slots: sound, modem, network card, etc .. In addition, there are installed parallel and serial ports used to connect to peripheral devices such as mice – the printer, modem.

Usually sound cards are installed in the PCI slot, while the older ones were typically installed on the ISA bus. Many computers today incorporated sound chips directly on the motherboard. That leaves one slot free for other peripherals. Sound cards can be connected to:

* Headset

* Speakers with amplifier

* A source of analog input as a microphone, a radio, a deck with a box or a CD player

* A source of digital input as a digital audio tape (DAT) or a CD-ROM

* A source of analog output – with cassette deck

* A source of digital output as DAT writing a CD (CD-R)

Some sound cards provide through a socket a very efficient output for 4 speakers and a digital output interface. For audio, there is a new generation of digital sound card. A sound card is practical for digital applications that require digital sound. The digital sound cards have digital sound inputs and digital outputs, so you can transfer data from DAT, CD or DVD directly to hard disk in the computer. Normally, a sound card can do more things with sound:

– to reproduce recorded music (from CDs or audio files like WAV or MP3), from games or from DVDs,
– to record audio in various media formats from different external sources (microphone or tape deck to)
– to synthesize sound.

The DAC (digital audio controller) and the ADC (analog-digital converter) bring the transmission into and out of the sound card while the DSP (digital sound processor) oversee the process. The DSP also deals with any other sound alteration as an echo or 3D sound. Because the DSP focus on sound processing, the processor of the computer can deal with other things.

Sound cards used old synthesizer to create FM sounds. Synthesizer takes tones of varied FM frequencies and combinations them to create an approximation of a certain sound, such as a trumpet. While the FM synthesizer has developed to the point that sounds very realistic, it does not compare with Wave Table synthesizer which works by recording a small part of the actual instrument sound. This is continuing to play a sound exactly like the one made with incredible accuracy. Wave Table synthesizer has become the new standard for most sound cards, but some brands still use more cheaply FM synthesizer. Few sound cards include both of them. Sound cards have a very sophisticated support higher for MIDI instruments. Using a program of music, an instrument equipped with MIDI can be attached to the sound card to allow you to see on-screen musical notes to your song.

Some people so-called "musicians" produce music using computer programs that produce sounds and rhythms and with the help of synthesizers. The music made by these methods is quality music even if it sounds real and it is clear. It is made by the tool itself. That's why classical music and the live music is superior because it's made by real musicians (professionals).

Get Out Of That Trading Rut!

Ever muttered these words? “I haven’t made enough winning trades. “What am I going to do?” “I’ll never be successful.” Well, if you have, you’re not alone. It’s usually followed by “But I don’t know to do differently.” To quote writer Molly Ivins, “The first rule of holes: when you’re in one, stop digging.”

If you’re a new trader, it’s normal – and natural – to feel like you’re in a hole. It can cause feelings of panic – and we’ve all been there. Of course, it’s human nature to think about the past and worry about the future. But the more you resist this urge, the less distracted you’ll be about achieving trading success. As you spend your time focusing on your future plans, analyzing current market conditions, honing your trading skills, and deciding how to approach your next trade, the more successful you will undoubtedly be.

But seasoned traders have a trick. They take their trades one at a time, and view each trade as a completely new opportunity. It’s called “compartmentalizing your trades” and by focusing on your immediate experience, you’ll increase your energy and remain optimistic about each trade you make.

To successfully compartmentalize, envision a different “mental compartment.” Then, as you begin to initiate each trade, start fresh. Don’t worry about how the last trade fared or how defeated you might feel if this one is made at a loss. Rather, focus every bit of your energy on the “here and now” – this immediate experience. Then, implement your trading plan with a calm and relaxed attitude.

If you’ve ever played sports, you know how important it is to be “in the zone.” The game of golf is a great example. Golfers who excel don’t think about the last hole or their current score. They focus on the present by analyzing the course and the traps ahead and determine what they need to do to accomplish the immediate goal. Then, they move to the next hole, approaching it with the same energy and renewed focus.

Now, let’s be realistic. You do need to carefully manage risk and it’s hard not to remember past failures. But what good does that do, really? If you must worry about the future, do it away from work and not while you need to have your focus at its optimum level.

The mental strategy of trading is different for each trader. There’s no right or wrong. There’s no best way and your success will depend upon your creativity and individual approach to each trade. But if you treat each trade as its own entity, you will be more successful than if you let each previous trade weigh on your current task.

Seasoned traders think positively, as if anything is possible. The next trade may be a winner or it may be a loser. Whatever the outcome, they celebrate their victory, take the loss in stride, and move on. And, in the end, they are profitable.

In the meantime, Good Luck on your journey to success…

Color Symbolism of Magenta – The Color of New Age

Colors play a significant role in our life. Every color has an expressive element that reflects our emotional flows, such as passion, celebration, and sorrow, called ‘Color Symbolism.’ We are discussing here the ‘Color Symbolism of Magenta.’

Beginning with its history, the story of magenta’s origin is effortless. The term magenta was coined from a plant that provides a dye called fushina, discovered after the Battle of Magenta in Italy. There are several shades of magenta, all referred to commonly as magenta. Magenta is an extra-spectral color, which means it cannot be created by one wavelength of light. It is made up of red and blue wavelengths, called as red-purple in the Munsell Color System. Owing to its distinct base of two aggressive colors, magenta emerges significantly differently on canvass, in print, and on computer screen. Magenta has a full spread of ‘Color Symbolism’ in varied fields.

In the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, & Key (Black)) Color Model, followed in printing, Magenta is one of the main four colors of ink. In ‘Digital Art,’ or while printing, the bright side of the color, seen on the ‘computer screen’ is called as ‘electric’ magenta, also considered as fuchsia. The ‘printed’ version of the same ‘electric magenta’ is known as ‘process’ magenta. Magenta symbolizes ‘anti-racism’ by the Anti-Racism Magenta Foundation in Amsterdam. In Spain, Magenta is the official color of the ‘political’ party called UPYD (Union, Progress, and Democracy). In ‘parapsychology,’ a person with magenta aura is normally described as creative and artistic. Therefore, such people usually work well as artist, actor, art dealer, costume designer, author, or set designer. Magenta extends its magnetic contribution towards business too. It is the trademark color of Deutsche Telekom AG, parent company of T-Mobile.

At the expressive level, used in artistry, where magenta is less aggressive and more spiritual than red, it is more realistic than purple. It is volatile, optimistic, and affectionate, creating a feeling of satisfaction & self-respect, while being imaginative, outrageous, and innovative as well, all along. Magenta is the color of ‘new age,’ which heals at all emotional levels. With a streak of ‘Futurism,’ it promises future. A strong, deep, complex, and very impressive color, magenta is linked with inspirational thinkers, particularly those who think ahead of time.

In addition, the ‘Color Symbolism of Magenta’ stretches to divinity, love, learning, & nurturing. It can assist people with earthly skills, in fusing with powerful spirituality, and in releasing the past agony & moving forward. The color cleanses a being emotionally and infuses the feeling of self-respect, protection, and self-awareness in self. This color balances emotions by being simultaneously cheering and soothing, thereby controlling over emotional and under emotional conditions. Definitely, despite the complexity of its tones and shading, magenta is a brilliant, versatile color, creating all the magic possible through artistry or otherwise.

The Shocking Truth About Hemorrhoids Home Remedies!

If you’re suffering from hemorrhoids, (also known as piles) you may be desperate to get rid of them and are prepared to try some or all hemorrhoids home remedies.

Suffering from a hemorrhoid condition can be very painful and distressing. You may think that you’re all alone, but you’re not. At least 40 percent of the adult population will suffer from hemorrhoids at some point in their life. And like you, they want to get rid of hemorrhoids for good, too.

So does a natural treatment for piles actually work? Well, first you have to decide which of the hemorrhoids homeopathic cures to try first.

For instance, drinking green tea daily is regarded as a hemorrhoids homeopathic remedy. However, green tea can be an acquired taste and you mightn’t like drinking it at first.

Similarly, drinking chamomile tea is also regarded as a natural treatment for piles.

If you decide this would suit you, I wouldn’t recommend drinking both, but choose either green or chamomile tea and drink one cup daily. It’s also important to note that chamomile tea can be used as a relaxant or mild sedative, so the best time to drink it may be at bedtime.

Cutting out alcohol and coffee can also be one of the hemorrhoids home remedies. You could try drinking chamomile or green tea instead of a cup of coffee. However, don’t expect instant results. It may take two to three weeks or even longer for this hemorrhoids homeopathic treatment to take effect.

So the shocking truth about hemorrhoids home remedies is that they can actually work, but you may need to be patient and diligent to see good results.

Fireproof File Cabinets – Finding the Right Type to Suit Your Needs

Fireproof file cabinets provide you with an effective and efficient solution when you need to protect the vast number of files, documents as well as papers in a safe and fire free environment.

Most fire proof filing cabinets are capable of protecting vital documents, even in fires of external temperatures reaching 1,700 degree Fahrenheit. This is made possible as long as the internal temperature of the unit is kept below 350 degree F and preventing the papers from burning. Look for one with 1 or 2 hour 350 degree UL rating which means that it will be able to withstand and maintain internal temperatures of 350 degree F over a 1 or 2 hour periods. Often, this time frame is sufficient, in the event of a fire, to ensure that the fire is contained or put out altogether. The more robust ones include water resistant functions so as to ensure that there is no water damage after a fire. In addition, the cabinets are kept in a key lock system which also prevails theft as well as burglary.

Materials used to make these fire proof filing cabinets are quite different from ordinary ones. They include a good mixture of resin, gypsum and steel to make a composite which is effectively fire resistant. Together with your choice of locking system, they provide many levels of security for different types of environmental challenges. They often come in key lock systems but are customisable with combination locks. The innovative type of safe in a file whereby a safe is built in to the unit will use a combination locking mechanism for the safe and a key lock system for the cabinet.

You are spoiled for choice from the two, three and four drawer designs, and in addition the many types of colors and materials you can choose from to match the rest of your cabinets or blend into the overall layout of your office or home office. They are designed for vertical and lateral filing, not to mention, being available also for side tab or end tab filing too.

One key point to note when buying your fireproof file cabinets is that you need to check out the authentic and reputed manufacturers. Understand that there is no trade off for quality. Settle for nothing less than good solid quality or otherwise you will end up not being able to salvage any document in times of fire or theft. Check out the product warranties as most should provide you with lifetime product warranties as well as replacement guarantees in the event of a fire.

Lessons From the Story, The Yellow Wallpaper

A possible theme for the story The Yellow Wallpaper is that married couples should always communicate with one another. If there is one thing that struck me the most, it was the fact that the two characters showed no signs of communicating to fix their problems. The setting of the story was during the 1800s and during that time, physicians had no knowledge post-partum depression, which was what the woman in the story had.

As the story progressed, it seemed that the two didn’t even bother fixing their relationship. Without any form of communication, the couple could not find out if there are any problems. Consequently, without any form of communication, socialization or treatment, the woman went completely crazy. In our society today, communication is still a main problem that many couples face. Divorce is almost always the end result. Seeing that as a Christian just really breaks my heart. I believe that when two people make a pact before God by way of marriage, they should respect it and dignify the promise that they have made. In conclusion, perhaps the most important problem that people faced before and people still face now is the lack of communication.

Communication is key to a lasting and fruitful relationship. Sometimes, even though couples won’t agree with certain issues or topics, it is still good to communicate in the form of an argument or a debate. Even though the tone might be somewhat condescending, it is still a form of communication that will lead to better understanding. In the end, an argument will still beat no communication between couples any given day.

Fireproof Your Marriage Seminar

Obviously a marriage can be vulnerable, just look at the high divorce rate in our nation. A small friction may spark trouble, sometimes you may have smoldering misunderstandings, tensions and hostility may flare up and the next thing you know you have a situation that is a full fledged inferno and you may feel that there is no solution or help in sight. In that case you may want to consider attending a fireproof your marriage seminar.

Marriage is a wonderful thing it is also one of the most difficult things in life that you will face every single day. You have to learn about one another expectations of what married life should be about. You must have understanding and learn how to continue loving each other even once those first feelings have worn down. And, naturally, it takes devotion and commitment to one another. In other words, it takes a great deal of work but having the right foundation is the first step towards fireproofing your marriage and that is exactly what a fireproof your marriage seminar is all about.

There is no such thing as a perfect marriage that means that no one person in the marriage is perfect either; just as it takes two people to make a marriage it also takes the same two people to break that marriage. Of course it is not always true that each one is equally responsible but no matter how you split the responsibility each person still has some as everyone does make mistakes. It is just a matter of time when you live with someone that you will hurt them, even if not intentionally, but it does happen. A fireproof your marriage seminar shows you that you will need to first acknowledge that a mistake was made, and then work on correcting it all the while sincerely apologizing while making it right. If this does not happen then you may just be lighting that spark.

If you refuse to take responsibility, or even acknowledge your mistakes and actions then you will be unable to properly heal and will not learn from your mistakes. This in turn means that you will not be able to improve in any of the areas that may need improvement. No matter how much which person was responsible for they are still errors in judgment, or mistakes that have to be acknowledged and fixed in order to save the relationship. Attending a fireproof your marriage seminar shows that this improvements your marriage so that unhealthy cycles will not be repeated.

Even if you have a strong relationship that does not mean that you will not have any arguments or struggles. There are trying times and temptations in every marriage, but when you decide to attend a fireproof your marriage seminar it takes you one step closer to realizing that no one is perfect and no marriage is or ever will be perfect. You have to learn to accept each other, imperfections and all.

Storage Rooms For Flammable Chemicals

An inside storage room permits the storage of larger quantities of flammable and combustible liquids. However, there are specific requirements for its design and construction that must be followed to protect not only the workers but the general public and the environment.

A storage room for flammable chemicals must be constructed to meet the required fire-resistance rating for its use. It must comply with the following test specifications outlined in the National Fire Prevention Association Standard Methods of Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, NFPA 251-1969:

  • It is recommended that a storage room for flammable liquids be located along an outer wall because of the danger of explosion.
  • A fire protection system for an inside storage room is a sprinkler system, water spray, carbon dioxide or other system that has been approved by local fire authorities.
  • If an automatic sprinkler system is present, it must be designed and installed according to code.
  • The maximum allowable size for a storage room inside a building is 500 square feet.
  • Openings to other rooms or buildings must be provided with non-combustible, liquid-tight, raised sills or ramps, at least 4 inches below the surrounding floor.
  • Approved self-closing fire doors must be used.
  • The room must be liquid-tight where walls join the floor.
  • An open-grown trench inside the room which drains to a safe place may be an acceptable alternative to the sill or ramp. If a lot of flammable liquids are transferred in and out of the room using hand trucks, this might be preferable.
  • Windows in other exposed properties or exposed portions of the building must be protected as outlined in NFPA Standard for Fire Doors and Windows.
  • Electrical Wiring and equipment located in an storage room used for Class I liquids must be approved under Subpart S, Electrical, for Class I, Division 2 Hazardous Locations. If storing only Class II and Class III, electrical wiring shall be approved for general use.
  • An approved ventilation system must be installed.

Since flammable vapors are heavier than air, they hang low to the floor and can accumulate and move toward sources of ignition or other non-compatible chemicals. The ventilation system is vital in preventing flammable vapors from accumulating enough to cause an explosion or liquid fire. Every inside storage room must have either a gravity or mechanical exhausting system which provides a complete change of air within the room at least 6 times an hour. The switch for a mechanical venting system also controls all room lighting and must be located outside the storage room. If gravity venting is provided, the fresh air intake and the exhaust outlet from the room must be on the exterior of the building in which the storage room is located.

Additional Requirements:

  • Inside every storage room, an aisle at least 3 feet wide must be maintained, allowing for easy movement in the room. This is necessary to reduce the potential for spilling or damaging containers and to provide access for firefighting and a ready escape path from the room if a fire occurs.
  • If wood is used for shelves, it must be at least 1 inch thick and it may also be used for racks, dunnage, scuffboards, floor overlay, etc ..
  • Chemicals are not to be stored on unfinished wooden shelves. Finished metal or high density plastic (polypropylene) is recommended shelving for most chemicals. If wood is used, it must be sealed with a good grade oil based paint, natural or synthetic varnish.
  • Proper segregation of chemicals must be maintained inside the storage room. Incompatible chemicals must be stored at a distance from each other or possible in divided areas.
  • Chemicals should be stored at eye level to decrease chance of spilling or breakage and for ease of identification.
  • Labels must be complete, legitimate and up to date.
  • MSDS information must be available for all chemicals stored.
  • At least 1 portable fire extinguisher with a rating of not less than 12-B units must be located outside the storage room, no more than 10 feet from the door opening into the room.
  • Materials which react with water will not be stored in the same room with flammable or combustible liquids.
  • Containers over 30 gallons capacity must not be stacked on top of others.

Dispensing of chemicals is by an approved pump or self-closing faucet, or closed piping system. If flammable liquids are dispensed inside the storage room, a pilot light must be installed adjacent to the switch.

Storage Capacity

  • This depends upon the availability of a sprinkling system and the fire rating of the storage room. One with a fire rating of 2 hours and equipped with sprinklers is allowed to store a greater quantity of chemicals.
  • If fire protection is present in a room that has a 2 hours fire resistance rating, storage allowed is 10 gallons per square foot.
  • If there is no fire protection in this room, 4 gallons of chemicals per square foot is allowed.
  • In a room that has a Fire Resistance Rating of 1 hour, with fire protection, the storage space is reduced to 150 square feet.
  • The amount of flammable chemicals that can be kept in this room is 5 gallons per square foot.
  • A room that has no fire protection and a fire resistance rating of 1 hour can store 2 gallons of flammable chemicals per square foot.

Cleaning the Ceiling and Air Ventilator

When you say cleaning and maintaining the cleanliness of all areas of the workplace, it should really mean all. This includes not only the floors and walls, but this should also include one of the most overlooked areas of the kitchen – the ceiling as well as the air ventilators.

What You Need

The materials that you will need to clean the ceiling and air ventilator include a ladder, a ceiling broom, a hand brush, cleaning detergent, clean cloth, and water for rinsing. You will also need goggles as well gloves to protect not only your eyes but hands as well.

Air Ventilator

For the air ventilator, you will need to use the ladder, so make sure that it is very sturdy and very stable so as to prevent any accidents or mishaps from happening.

The first thing that you need to do is to remove the air ventilator from the ceiling. After all, it is so much easier to clean the air ventilator when it is taken down.

Wet the hand brush or the scouring pad with water and then pour in a small amount of detergent. Do not use too much detergent though as it could make rinsing difficult. Plus, you will be wasting water, detergent, and money if you do so.

With the wet hand brush or scouring pad, gently but thoroughly wash all the areas of the air ventilator, making sure to remove tracks of grime and dust. Once done, rinse it off with clear water, making sure that there are no traces of detergent left on the air ventilator. After this, thoroughly wipe the air ventilator off with a clean cloth.

Before you clean the ceiling though, make sure that the kitchen equipments, appliances, units, items, etc. are protected with drop cloths. You should also protect the counters, ovens, grills, anything really that needs to be protected from the dust and grime of the ceilings as well as from the drips. Also, you should always clean the ceilings before you clean the walls and the floors so as to save money, effort, and time.

Therefore, you are wearing goggles and gloves. The goggles will protect your eyes from any drips that might fall over your face, and the gloves will protect your hands from the detergent.

As for the ceiling itself, you need to use the ladder to reach hard-to-reach areas as well as the ceiling broom to remove cobwebs. You could also use a vacuum brush to less the risk of cobwebs or dirt falling into any of the surfaces below.

Next, dampen a clean cloth with water and detergent, squeeze it hard to remove any excess fluid, and scrub the ceiling. Make sure that there are no drips dripping down the walls, either any of the surfaces below, or on the floor. After this, wipe the ceiling off with a dry cloth.

When you are done cleaning the ceiling, be sure to reassemble the air ventilator and place it back on the ceiling.

Last, tidy up the area. This includes wiping off any drips that might have knocked down the ceiling or unto any of the surfaces below. This also includes wiping the floor off any water or detergent that dropped down from the ceiling.

Cleaning the ceiling is not an everyday activity or one that needs to be done every after shift though. However, the ceiling should be cleaned regularly so as to avoid grime, dust, and cobweb accumulation.

Green Home Renovations – How to Take the First Steps

If you are renovating your home there are many decisions that need to be made. You may be wondering which contractor to use or which areas to renovate first. What many people should think about (but do not) is how to make sure that the renovation process is as environmentally friendly as possible. Here are a few things that you need to consider.

Your home's energy supply

You may want to consider how your home will be powered. A home renovation can be the perfect time to add a solar panel or to convert from burning fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas to using biomass boilers or a heat pump system. You may even want to use a combination of several different heating methods. For example, you may want to use a heat pump system in combination with a biomass system.

Environmentally friendly heating systems are those that are as close to carbon neutral as possible. A biomass system only releases as much carbon as was absorbed by the plants or trees during their lifespan.

Upgrade windows to energy efficient models

If you are renovating your home you should consider replacing your windows with ones that are more energy efficient. Good choices are double paned models that have a layer of gas in between the glass. This will help reduce or eliminate heat transfer in or out of your home. Different windows will have different R-ratings as some gasses are much better at preventing heat transference than others.

You may want to consider replacing any windows at the ground level as well. A significant amount of treated air can be lost through basement windows and yet some individuals do not see the importance of changing windows that are not immediately visible to the outside world.

Use recycled materials whenever and whenever possible

It is important for you to use renovation materials that are made from recycled materials. They have several advantages. The first is that they have already released any toxic gasses when they were in use before and will not contaminate the air in your home. The second is that you are not compounding the problem when some materials are harvested from their natural environment.

Barn board flooring, for example, is a beautiful choice to use in a home or cottage. It can provide a rustic touch to your home or cottage and is good because it prevails landfills from being filled with materials that can easily be reused.

A New Breed of Car Phone Holder

As better apps are made for smart phones, it is becoming less necessary for the geographically-stunted of us to shell out on a proper Sat Nav, as it’s quite easy to do the job on your phone instead. And now that screens are getting so large, there’s no problem with having to squint at a tiny screen as you try to make your way down the road. But one thing you will need is a good car phone mount that will keep your phone in place, safely and in an easily readable position.

One problem a lot of people reported having with many holders on the market is that their positioning in the car can be at best awkward and at worst potentially dangerous. Mounts that stick to the windscreen can distract the driver and block the view of the road at vital moments, and air vent holders not only block the vent itself but are also not very stable and can flop around all over the place. A new solution to the problem has been posed in the form of the Dash Genie, which is the world’s first suction-based dashboard holder. The Genie is designed to cling tightly to your dashboard without the need for adhesive and won’t leave behind any sticky marks.

The Dash Genie can be attached to the dashboard with the use of a simple suction cup which should then keep your phone tightly in place, whether you’re hurtling over speed-bumps or swinging around corners. It’s made of an innovative material that’s super-sticky, so you can just plonk your phone on it an off you go.

You can display your phone in either portraint or landscape, and tilt the holder itself, so that you ensure the best position to read your Sat Nav from it. Because it sticks to the dashboard, it won’t restrict your view so provides a safer alternative to windscreen-based car phone holders.
