How to Increase Penile Girth Naturally and Grow a Monster, 9 Inch Manhood!

I am going to show you how to increase penile girth naturally. There are several natural exercises that can help in increasing penile girth. If you are wondering “how do I make my penis bigger?”, or maybe “why should I make my penis big?”, let me tell you that it has a lot more to offer than simply making your sex life better.

A bigger penis can have a huge effect on your personality, your confidence levels, and your communication skills.

At the same time, it definitely has a good deal to do with your sex life. Simply consider the fact that almost every woman talks about how a bigger penis can satisfy them.

Even though this fact is not completely true (as the size of the penis girth or length is not related to how well a man can excite a woman during intercourse), this psychological factor adds a lot to your performance at sex.

The Length and the Girth

If you are considering a good penile enlargement exercise, try to go for something that will help you to see an increase in both your length and your girth. While exercises related to the PC muscles can help you with both these results, it can also help you with seeing stronger and prolonged erections.

There are a few other exercises that you can consider as well. For example, Jelqing can be a great way to increase penile girth naturally, while stretching can show a good improvement in your penile length. Ballooning can also prove to be a good option to try out with respect to the thickness of your penis.

I would suggest that you try out a combination of Jelqing and the stretching exercises. While Jelqing will enhance your thickness very effectively, the stretches are very effective in showing you a good increase in the length. If you try both these exercises, the results can be the ideal for you.

I will briefly give you a penile enlargement exercise you can use. This is a stretching technique. Warm up your penis first. Then hold the head of your penis and stretch it straight in front of you. Now repeat this action 5 times in different directions. Ideally you want it to be directed down, up, straight, right and left. Do this on a daily basis, and be patient.

The Safety Issues

Whatever you do, do not forget to use a good high quality lubricant to be on the safe side. At the same time, do not overdo anything, as it can harm the health of your penis adversely and cause innumerable problems for you. Also, never start an exercise without a good warm up.

So if you were wondering “how do I make my penis bigger?”, this information should let you know exactly what should be on your list to help you with your target of a monster 9 inch manhood and increase penile girth naturally!

SuperCharged Secret 4, Credit Card Utopia

Let's just take a brief moment to recap:

If you've been following along on this journey with me, learning the 5 Super-Charged secrets to Credit Card Utopia, then you now know 3 very important things:

  1. You now know how to take advantage of zero to low interest credit card offers.
  2. You now know that there is safety in numbers, and you know the magic "Who's Who" of the major credit card companies. You know that one of them, in my opinion, stands out for consumers.
  3. You now know how to take a low interest credit card with a rewards program, and convert it into a money making technology that could seriously improve your financial house.

With me? Good. These are all essential foundations that you need to follow in order to live in Credit-Card Utopia with me.

In fact, you would think that there's not much more that can be done.

Side note: I hope you are realizing the power of this information.

It may seem simple, but are you doing it? No. So, be smart. Study this information, reflect on these insights, and move forward with them so you can truly benefit from this secret knowledge.

On to Secret, # 4:

1) It's very important that Utopians cover all bases, and leave no one behind.

The 3 secrets we've covered, really deal with those of us who have fairly good credit.

Now, if you do not have "good" credit, please do not discard these prior ideas.

I did not have "good credit" once. Who cares? How many people, small businesses, corporations, and large industrial countries, have said the exact same thing?

2) So, do not feel left out.

Move towards Credit Card Utopia as a goal to move you into action.

Our website (and many other fine websites around the internet) can provide you with many, many resources to work on your debt issues, or your credit score issues, or whatever.

You might be surprised how FAST you can go from point A to point B.

(Here's a tip: Do not waste time.

3) Getting back on track: Want a zero interest credit offer? Want a low-interest, no annual fee, incentive-based offer?

Well, if you're struggling with credit or debt, then the first step is to tackle this issue from a different point of view.

Give up on Visa®, MasterCard®, and AMEX® … At least the "unsecured" kind, and at least for now.

There's nothing wrong with applying, and trying, but if you've been turned down, there are other ways to go.

4) Secret # 4, revealed in an analogy:

Do you live in a small town? If you do, you might have a small-town pub. Does everyone know your name? Does the bartender know you, and know the drink you like? Do you go into your pub after work, and down a stiff one, after a long day of working in the coal mines? Maybe it is not payday yet. Do you think the bartender cares? Of course not! He wants you coming in so he can move his inventory of fine beers and spirits. He knows you. So, what does he do? Let's say this is the 1800s, and there's no such thing as "credit cards" among our coal-working small town clan. What does he do?

Right! He runs you a tab.

No interest rates, no worries, no big deal. He runs a tab. Why? Because he knows you're good for it, and he's moving inventory. He does not care about the interest, because he's making a profit off the sale of his beer. He knows where you live, and he knows you'll pay him back in a few days when you come in for a drink after you get paid. It's a virtual certainty.

Now YOU, the small-town beer drinking coal worker, you're perfectly fine with this. The drink costs you the same whether you had cash now or later, and the bartender runs you a tab, in exchange for selling you more inventory. Everyone works together.

You scratch my back, and I'll buy some more beer.

5) This concept of free "credit" provided to purchase inventory, is not a new concept.

As you can see, it's been around for a long, long time. However, in modern times, it has a tremendous application for folks with "poor" credit issues.

The secret is that you buy merchandise (On stuff you already need, or are already buying) almost exclusively from merchants willing to give you credit at low to no interest.

So, while you think you are in a tough position with credit issues, you actually turn it around, and allow it to become consumer buying power.

Only shop with merchants that scratch your back.

With me?

6) Now, where do you find these merchants?

Well, in the real brick and mortar world, it's not that hard.

You can start with department stores, gas cards, furniture outlets, electronics stores, jewelers, and a variety of other stores that you may do business with.

I can not guarantee, of course, that they'll approve you. But many of these merchants run their credit departments in-house, and like our bartender, they're interested in moving inventory.

So, I would not take one "no" to mean that everyone will say "no". Not true.

Many of the larger corporate chains do not offer low to no interest rates. But almost ALL of them offer huge discounts on initial purchases as incentives to get started.

As of the writing of this article, for example, JCPenney® and Target® both offer 10% discounts on "new accounts". In addition, most of them do offer zero interest when balances are paid off each month, and some of them offer different plans to meet different customer's credit situations.

Also, look to no-interest incentive specials that are going on for many larger-ticket items. Televisions, Furniture, etc.

You'll also find many deferred-payment incentives that you can use to your advantage, or that you can utilize as a no-interest situation.

You just have to shop around. They are out there.

7) Now, what about cyber-space? Is there a place to take advantage of this back-scratching secret in Silicon? Actually, YES! There is. Check this out:

Many shopping portals online have realized the advantage of working with "poor" credit customers, and tailor-making a shopping experience that fits these specialized needs. We've listed several at our website, but of course, you can find them at any search-engine or at other reputable websites around the internet.

In a nutshell, the shopping website offers a membership card for making purchases on credit. You go to the online mall, make your purchases for things you would already buy anyway, and build or rebuild your credit score. The shopping portal helps you out by reporting your credit activity to the major credit reporting bureaus, which in turn, improves your credit history.

In addition, the membership benefits often times include such things as travel discounts, rental car discounts, and FREE credit reports.

They almost always advertise guaranteed credit lines of up to $ 7500, and incentives for joining can include free merchandise (such as a free DVD player), or a merchandise voucher.

Look for 30 day money-back guarantees, and look for no annual fees, and yes, look for "NO INTEREST" on the credit.

Most of these sites will require an upfront membership fee, but then they immediately turn around and provide a merchandise voucher. For example, one portal charges $ 150 for the upfront membership fee, but then immediately provides a voucher of $ 200 for merchandise at their site.

Because their customers generally have a history of poor credit, they do sometimes require an initial payment, or "down payment" on purchases until a relationship is established, but hey listen. So what? If you have credit issues, then you have to start rebuilding credit relations somewhere. It sure beats Layaway!

What a creative way to solve this problem. Everybody wins.

You scratch my back, and I'll buy some more beer!

Meanwhile, you're moving closer and closer to the pearly gates of Credit Card Utopia!

We've enjoyed providing this information to you, and we wish you the best of luck in your pursuits. Remember to always seek out good advice from those you trust, and never turn your back on your own common sense.

My Sliding Door Doesn’t Slide Very Well

Have you ever tried to open a sliding door and it doesn’t budge or comes out of the railing? This is actually a common problem when it comes to these types of doors or installations.

There are many causes for this kind of problem that can easily be fixed.

  • Dirty rail – when the door was manufactured a number known as a tolerance was used to make sure that the parts fit perfectly together. If there is the slightest bit of grime the door will stop at certain points. Make sure that you get rid of the grime before the door compresses the dirt and fuses it to the rail. The best way to clean the rail would be to use a hard bristled brush such as a nail brush. Be sure that you dust the particles away from the door so that they don’t get lodged again.
  • Rusted rail – this part of the door installation is usually made from steel to remain strong. Unfortunately, iron does rust and will create particles along the rail. If rust is present the sliding door will get stuck at certain points. Did you know that a simple application works as a short term solution? If you rub a candle along the rusted areas it creates a frictionless surface and lets the door slide smoothly.
  • Worn rail – constantly sliding open and sliding closed will wear down the metal. This makes the central part shorter that makes the door prone to popping out of place. This type of problem should be fixed by a professional as you may need to have a new frame installed.
  • Door stops – sometimes the bottom of the door will get stuck on the rail whilst the top will continue to move or slide. The problem could be that one side is being pushed upwards more. There is a proper way to open doors without causing uneven wear. Make sure that you pull the door towards you without pulling it upwards or downwards.

A door that doesn’t work can be a nuisance. A fully functioning door should always be present so that everyone in the household can open and close the door correctly. A custom door manufacturer can make a door that is perfectly shaped and designed so that you don’t have to deal with such issues. Plus you could add extra features that work to your convenience and makes the home a safer place.

A History of Glass Blowing and Hand Blown Glass Vases

Glass blowing is an art form that has been around for a long time, but interest in it died down until the 1960s, when it underwent a renewal. There are lots of quality artisans blowing glass objects of all kinds. From hand blown glass vases to ornaments and other items, there are lots of options available for decorating your home. There's a real difference between hand blown and machine made art glass, so make sure you know what you're getting. Let's take a look at where these beautiful objects came from.

Blowing glass has been around for a long time – probably since about the first century BCE. Evidence has been found in a waste heap from Syria that suggests that people were blowing glass. However, it did not get a lot of attention until the craft was mastered in Venice during the late medieval era. Workers on the Island of Murano learned how to make high quality hand blown glass vases, goblets, globes and other items. Many incredible fine glass pieces came from this era and location, and the Venetian government actually forbade the workers to leave the island, rewarding them instead with titles of nobility.

Holland and Germany were also working with glass during this period, but they were not focusing much on blowing it. Instead, these countries became masters of glass engraving. The world of glass blowing varies relatively little between the seventeenth century and the twenty, strangely enough. However, by the 1960s, interest in glass blowing as an art, rather than a mechanical process, was renewed. It started with professors at the Toledo Museum of Art, who held workshops to experiment with the art form, and only a few years later Dale Chihuly, world renounced artist, came onto the scene.

With all these new artists coming into glass blowing and creating abstract sculptures, hand blown glass vases and more, this became one of the fastest growing art forms in North America. All kinds of glass blowers are producing beautiful work in all sorts of sizes and shapes, and there's a good chance that someone is working in your area. Whether you prefer deep blue cobalt glass, green glasses, or swirled and painted glass, there are pieces you'll love.

Antique hand blown glass is also popular with collectors. This glass can come in all sorts of decorative shapes, sizes and patterns, and is extremely valuable to the right person, making it a good investment for some. Glass objects are like having jewels of your own, whether large or small, cylinder shaped, rectangular, round or square. So, no matter who you are, you should check out your options in hand blown glass vases and other decorative objects. Art glass items are hot right now, and you'll need to get them while they're still available.

Tips For Choosing the Right Glass For Your Home

Glass can perform many different roles, from making a home more comfortable and attractive to ensuring security and privacy – it’s simply a case of knowing what to ask for.

What are Your Requirements?

Consider the room’s function and ask the right questions: Will your priority be maintaining the temperature throughout the year? Is there a high level of external noise or will the area pose cleaning problems? It may be that the glass is in a position where you want natural light or to limit vision from one space to another? Careful consideration of your glass options in the first instance can add real benefits in the long-term.

Conservatory Glass

Conservatories can be cold in the winter and over-heat in the summer so when selecting glass, it’s vital to consider how much sun will enter the room. If building on a wall that collects a lot of sun, choose a solar control glass which helps reduce the amount of solar heat gain. Also ensure that you have plenty of ventilation, particularly in the roof, to let heat out and prevent it becoming a greenhouse.

It is important to keep your conservatory warm without wasting energy. Installing Insulating Glass Units (IGUs) with a low emissivity coating and argon gas filling can help extend the number of months that your space can be comfortably used; by reflecting heat back into the room, maximising the use of available free heat and therefore generally improving comfort.

Door Glass

Glazing in internal and external doors can provide added light and a sense of space without compromising on safety, security or privacy.

For external doors, think about the degree the doors need to act as a barrier between the outdoors and the inside of the home. If the door may be vulnerable, ask about burglar resistant doors and grades of laminated glass specially developed to resist entry for longer. For internal glass doors there are impact resistant grades of glass with and without levels of privacy.

Glass in and around doors within and below 1500mm from the floor needs to be impact resistant. There are two common types of safety glass available:

• Toughened glass – Up to five times stronger than ordinary glass and shatters into small, safe granular pieces when broken, perfect if you have lively young children.
• Laminated glass – Two pieces of glass bonded with a clear plastic interlayer, so if it cracks or gets broken, the glass stays in position, reducing the risk of injury. Also ideal for crime prevention.

You can also get fire resistant glass for doors and screens in areas where fire protection is needed such as upper floors and doors to garages.

Roof Conversions / Skylight Glass

Converting roof and loft space is a popular way to transform a home, but placing windows into hard-to-reach areas such as a loft can make cleaning challenging.

Glass is available with self-cleaning properties that can vastly reduce the time spent on upkeep and also reduce the dangers of cleaning glass in hard-to-reach areas. Using daylight and rainwater to breakdown and wash away organic dirt, it continually cleans itself and provides a clearer view, leaving windows looking cleaner for longer. There is also the option of blue tinted glass to improve aesthetics and provide solar control, creating a blue sky view all year round.

Windows Glass

Windows can lose a lot of heat, but this can be overcome by fitting energy efficient glazing. Choosing window glass with a low-emissivity coating which is designed to reflect heat back from fires and radiators into the room; will greatly improving its thermal efficiency and also maximise the use of the available heat from the sun, helping to improve energy efficiency and therefore helping to reduce heating bills.

Your biggest concern may be reducing external noise levels. There are many window glass solutions to help combat this common problem for both modern and older, more traditional properties, but double glazing is only one option. New windows have the benefit of good seals when correctly installed and there are a range of glass types, some with specially developed laminated constructions to combat noise. IGUs with two different thicknesses can also have a marked improvement

Your Choice of Products Has Never Been So Good

Replacing or installing new glazing into a home can provide enhanced appearance, energy-saving and comfort. The key is to do your research and get the right glass for the relevant area.

Planning a Pond or Lake, a Useful Guide

Here are some important points to consider when planning your pond or lake.

Why not build your pond away from overhanging trees? The leaves they drop will break down and produce nitrates which will encourage algae growth. Build your pond or lake in a location that is in sunshine for about half the day.

Even a small pond should be at least 60cm deep at one point to prevent oxygen levels falling too low when the surface freezes (to protect invertebrates / amphibians). If you intend to keep fish in your pond the deer areas are vital to protect the fish from Herons and cats.

Have at least one shallow side, some of which should be well planed, for amphibians to leave the water. Shallow sides allow more marginal plants, which in turn shelter more wildlife. Gently sloping sides allow hedgehogs to escape, and are less dangerous in the event that a child toddler falls in. Toddlers or young children should always be supervised near the water.

Before digging your pond or lake, ensure there are no sewage, water, or power cables running through your garden, check with your local utility companies / local council. Planning permission may be required, depending on the size of the lake or pond and the area.

Be aware that any tree roots close to your pond or lake bed may find their way through your linings, causing future leaks.

Before introducing fish be aware that fish eat invertebrates and tadpoles, and discourage damselflies and dragonflies, generally speaking the widest variety of natural life can be found in ponds that do not contain fish.

Do not site your pond on marshy ground, otherwise water will tend to rise behind the liner causing future problems. If you have no choice but to dig a small pond in an area with a high water table one or more sumps can be dug around the pond with pumps inside to artificially lower the water table, (a complicated and expensive solution though).

Once the lake has been dug out, it is common practice to use a layer of soft sand to smooth out the surface. For the underlay a geotextile membrane is best (you could cut costs with polypropylene carpet, but remove any nails / tacks first). There are many different liners that are now available, butyl is a popular choice because it is durable and long lasting, but polythene is sometimes used. The liner is usually covered by more soft sand and fine washed gravel before the pond or lake is filled. Some pond and lake beds are constructed with concrete, often incorporating liners. The traditional method is to use puddled clay, however this is difficult and expensive, so is rarely seen on new ponds and lakes. Lake building techniques are constantly changing as technology moves forward, be sure to ask the advice of several different contractors to decide the best system for your project.

Please note, this article is for advice only, always consult a trained landscape designer before attempting groundwork.

Kobe Bryant Dunk Or How to Increase Vertical Jump

A couple of summers ago Kobe Bryant changed his workout program in order to get stronger – just like Michael Jordan back in the days. Kobe gained between 6 and 7 pounds of muscles (he is now at 220 lbs.), became a bit slower but still managed to maintain if not to increase his vertical jump! So, how did do that?

Let’s have a look at his weight training program – it’s a 6 days a week, 1 hour a day workout. The complete program consists of the weight training plus 2 hours of running, 2 hours of basketball, and 1 hour of cardio a day!

Day 1 & Day 4:

Bench press

Lat pull-downs

Incline press

Military press

Abdominal crunches

Day 2 & Day 5:

Lateral dumbbell raises

Bar dips

Tricep press-downs

Bicep curls

Abdominal crunches

Day 3 & Day 6:

Back squats/Front squats

Leg curls

Leg extensions

Calf raises

As you can see day 1, 2, 4 and 5 are about building strength in the upper part of the body. Day 3 and 6 are all about the lower part of the body which gives you the power you need to jump real high.

Focusing on reducing his body fat percentage (its under 10 %) allowed Kobe to save some weight that he actually gained through building up muscles. Besides the workout (running, cardio) sticking to a good diet plan (e.g. avoid fat in the food you eat, take plenty of protein to you, eat red meat only once a week, drink a lot of water also.) is crucial.

Now, last summer (2007), before playing for Team USA he lost almost 20 lbs. (he is at 205 lbs. now) to get his quickness back and worked also on his vertical.

Most Despised American Foods

This list is a compilation of surveys, online searches,and food store sales across the U.S. of what Americans despise, to put it bluntly, and not necessarily that of the author, although she does agree with several of the entries:

Brussels sprouts – the number one despised food in America, mushy, smelly (can you spell “feet”?) and revolting; one wonders why it appears so often on restaurant menus and as a major vegetable during the holidays; (this author’s absolutely most despised food, she can’t even look at them in the produce section)

Garlic – for many, the odor is just too much, and raw, it gives them a stomach ache; frequently abused by using too much, although most Italians cannot grasp the concept of “too much garlic”;

Cheese Fondue – dairy and white wine abuse, gloppy, stringy, and too much trouble (why not just opt for a wonderfully gooey grilled cheese sandwich instead, and drink the wine that is usually part of the ingredients);

Tofu – bland, strange texture, and usually associated only with vegetarians;

Celery – too much work, all that chewing, useless filler, plus very pungent to the nose; what’s the point? ruins a perfectly good chicken salad;

Oysters – slimy and gross, eaten in their raw state makes many people shudder; even baked or in stew, their strange texture is not a winner;

Mayonnaise – gloppy, fatty, tasteless and just all-around disgusting (try Miracle Whip instead, which mayo lovers find disgusting);

Mushrooms – your basic fungus or toadstool, and too bland;

Licorice – makes your tongue black, tastes terrible and who needs it; (author also dislikes this one, but liked it as a child, so go figure)

Cilantro – a ramped up version of parsley, celebrity chef Ina Garten despises it; “How bad can that be?” (apparently pretty bad)

Turnips and Parsnips – mushy, tastes terrible no matter what you do to them; (author has to agree with these two)

Blue Cheese – pungent, moldy and seriously sharp, ruins any respectable salad;

Liver – just plain gross in every way, even smothered in grilled onions can’t help;

Anchovies – disgusting little hairy, salty fish; destroys a good pizza; (author wholehearted concurs)

Broccoli – former president George H.W. Bush made his extreme dislike of this vegetable famous; smelly when cooked, boring when raw, no amount of cheese sauce or ranch dressing helps;

Lima Beans – mushy, tasteless and always overcooked;

Sushi – raw fish – say no more;

So what tops your hit parade of most despised foods? Everyone has several. Some people have a lot. Many of us adored certain foods the first time we tried them regardless of our age. Other times, it took several exposures or preparations to win us over. But for most of us, we are fortunate to have the ability to pick and choose. What’s in your fridge?

Article Rewriting – A Professional View

Article rewriting is a literary skill that many think they possess, but few actually do. There are many reasons for rewriting an article and the approach to the task will generally be dependent on the reason and required result. Let’s have a look at some typical objectives people have when rewriting articles.

Article Directory Submission

A popular internet service is the provision of a second, rewritten, version of a commissioned article, so that the customer receives two articles rather than one. This allows one version to be posted on your own website and the rewritten version to be submitted to article directories. The purpose of doing this is to avoid you competing with others using exactly the same content as you. There seems little point in you placing an article on your own web page then submitting that article to directories from which your competitors can copy them to their own web pages.

You are then competing for keywords against potentially hundreds of other websites using your own article. You may have your resource box on their site, each one giving you a valuable back-link, but this could be insufficient to make up for all that competition with duplicate content that may cause your site to drop down the listings.

What you should do to avoid this is to offer an alternative version to the directories and the way that the article is amended is important. It must give the same meaning as the original, but contain different semantics. The keyword density must be reasonable, around 1%, and the textual theme of the page must be relevant to the keyword targeted. The rewrite should be different enough to be regarded as unique, but not so different that it does not adequately address the topic at hand.

Use The Same Article On More Than One Web Page

Exactly the same approach should be used if you want to use the same article on a number of different websites or pages utilising the same keyword. Here, you are competing against yourself, and the article should be rewritten so that this does not happen. You have the same situation as that above, except you are your own competition. Unless the article is radically rewritten you may be in danger of diluting your website with too much similar content. This is the most common reason for article rewriting.

Use The Same Article For Different Keywords

Another common reason for articles being rewritten is that the customer wants to use the same article for a range of different keywords. This involves a slightly different style of rewriting since two keywords rarely have exactly the same meaning. How many exact synonyms are there? Very few, since most words have their own roots and there are generally different nuances in meaning between words which are synonymic in some contexts, but not in all.

In such cases the article will be adjusted to meet the requirements of the vocabulary being used. For example, the terms ‘internet marketing’ and ‘online marketing’ appear to have the same meaning in the context of marketing techniques, but the words ‘internet’ and ‘online’ are not synonyms – not even close. You can work ‘online’ but you can’t work ‘internet’. The reason is that ‘internet’ can be a noun or an adjective, while ‘online’ can be an adjective or an adverb.

The consequence of this is that one cannot always be used synonymously for the other, so article rewriting involves more than simple word substitution. It involves a good knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. This is where I see most attempts at rewriting articles go wrong: through misuse of grammar and a misunderstanding of the parts of speech. It can get complicated when we consider noun, adjective and adverb clauses, and article rewriting is not as simple as most believe.

Rewriting Scraped Articles

A major rewrite service frequently required is the provision of a complete rewrite of an article so that it bears little resemblance to the original. The customer likes the look of an article, but wants it rewritten so that it is indistinguishable from the original. A bit of a conflict there, I feel. This kind of work tends to indicate that the article has been scraped from the internet and the author’s resource box removed. The customer wants the article rewritten with his or her own name as author, and written so that the original author will not recognize it. What’s the point? It is better to write the article from scratch, not only because its is legal, but because it is easier. It is easier for authors to give their own slant on a topic than copy that of another.

The next time you want an article rewritten please determine clearly what your objective is. If a rewrite is essential have it done professionally or it could harm your listing rather than improve it, and please do not ask for a rewrite if a fresh article would do – it is easier for a professional article writer to write originally than copy another author’s style. If the sense of the piece is to be exactly maintained, article rewriting is not as simple a task as most people believe it to be.

Hydroponics in Commercial Food Production

Commercial Hydroponics

With the first successful application of hydroponics techniques in the 1930s the stage was set for a paradigm shift in crop production from conventional geoponics or cultivation in soil to hydroponics or soil less cultivation. The first crops to be commercially harvested with hydroponics included tomatoes and peppers, but the techniques were soon successfully extended to other crops such as lettuce, cucumbers and others. It was not long before hydroponics techniques were successfully adapted even to cut flowers production; in fact any plant can today be grown hyrdroponically.

Commercial Systems Overview

Commercial hydroponics systems can be classified into bare root systems comprising nutrient film technique (NFT), deep flow and aeroponics systems and substrate systems.

Bare root systems do not use media to anchor the plant roots; the roots are left bare while in substrate systems plant roots are anchored in media such as perlite, vermiculite, sawdust, peat etc. Hydroponics is basically all about growing plants in a controlled environment and this is best provided outdoors in greenhouses that can incorporate several means to monitor, regulate and control the environment inside them. For instance, the air entering the greenhouse can be filtered to exclude entry to pests and parasites that can harm plant growth. Such means help provide optimal conditions for plant growth both in and out of season. In fact, hydroponics allows cultivation throughout the year which makes for year round availability of hydroponically grown produce at all major supermarkets across North America. Valued at 2.4 billion dollars the hydroponic greenhouse vegetable industry has a growth rate of 10 percent per year and accounts for nearly 95 percent of the greenhouse vegetables produced in North America.

Hydroponics Advantages

The extension of the growing season is not the only advantage contributing to the growing popularity of hydroponics production with both growers and consumers. There are several additional advantages as well including nutritious, healthy and clean produce, improved and consistent vegetable quality and elimination of the use of pesticides and herbicides. Pesticides and other chemicals used in conventional agriculture have an adverse environmental impact; the run off from these chemicals contaminate groundwater supplies. Commercial hydroponics systems eliminate these toxic chemicals and contribute substantially to keeping the groundwater free from contamination.

Commercial hydroponics systems have proved more productive than conventional systems of agriculture not only in the laboratory but even in actual practice. Most commercial hydroponics greenhouse facilities are built large to take advantage of economies of scale; typically these cover areas more than 10 acres while smaller ones measure around two acres. In the research greenhouse, yields with hydroponics techniques have averaged around 20 to 25% higher than in conventional soil cultivation. In actual commercial practice, however, over a number of years, the yield of hydroponically grown tomatoes can be more than double that of soil based systems due to the reduced turnover time between crops, better nutrition and crop management. Additionally commercial hydroponics growing techniques are also less demanding of chemicals for root zone sterilization and control of pests, weeds etc.

The dramatic increase in yields with hydroponics is best illustrated if we consider the actual production figures of soil grown and hydroponically grown produce. Field grown tomatoes average yields ranging between 40,000 to 60, 000 pounds per acre; on the other hand top growing hydroponics facilities in the US and Canada report average yields of more than 650,000 pounds of tomatoes per acre. Additionally, given the fact that only 10 years ago top hydroponics producers were producing around 400,000 pounds per acre, the increase in yields with improvements in growing practices has been truly phenomenal. Similar production figures can be quoted for other agricultural produce like cucumbers with 10,000 pounds per acre for field production and 200,000 per acre for hydroponic greenhouse yields. Hydroponics lettuce and pepper yields too average around four times the corresponding yields of agricultural production.

Global Trends

Given the number of advantages of hydroponics it is not surprising that hydroponics techniques are increasingly finding favor for commercial food production in many countries all over the world. According to recent estimates countries having substantial commercial hydroponics production include Israel – 30,000 acres, Holland 10,000 acres, England 4,200 acres and Australia and New Zealand around 8,000 acres between them. The fastest growing area for commercial vegetable greenhouses is Mexico. There are several reasons for this including free trade and favorable winter conditions that attract vegetable growers in large numbers. Mexico has summers that are considered hot in the summer, but with greenhouses located at the right altitudes vegetables can be grown in the hot summers as well as the cold winters. Though much of the produce comes from low tech plastic houses, many of these greenhouses use hydroponics technology, which indicates the growing popularity of hydroponics in commercial food production.

The Land of the Rising Sun – Sites I Enjoyed

The Land of the Rising Sun has never failed to live up to its name. With its moniker, Japan continues to rise on the horizon as it boasts of its vibrant cultural heritage which is a legacy bequeathed from ages long ago.

Japan has been raised around the world not only for being an epicenter of innovation in the East but also for its fascinating varied culture and beautiful tourist spots that continue to attract hordes of tourists.

It would not be an unusual sight to see hundreds of tourists scurrying like ants just to see the magnificence of Mt. Fuji. The world-renovated mountain is a symbol of Japan, and is the most photographed mountain in the world. The mountain may seem to be just like any other mountain, but there is something more than what meets the eye. Similarly, part of its unique beauty is its picturesque atmosphere as ice caps coat its peak like a white fur.

Also, everyone would certainly be dazzled to see the Temple of the Golden Pavilion (or the Kinkakuji Temple). The temple in itself tells thousands of tales about its previous occupants starting from the feudal lords who had once ruled the area to the more recent tenants.

I've always loved to walk along the deleted alleys during the time the Sakura trees bloom. Nothing could ever equal the solitude I feel as the leaves slowly fall down like a feather tossed in the empty air, a moment that I will always cherish.

More than just the scenic views the country offers, it also flaunts unique art and music. Considered one of the country's oldest arts, Japanese paintings, which are figurative in nature, depict a fusion and rivalry between native Japanese aesthetics and adaptation of imported ideas; another thing that made the art flourish through the ages.

Another factor why people love to visit the country is the people. Japanese are friendly by nature. If ever we had the idea that they are like the violent Samurai we have seen in the movies, a visit to the country would prove that wrong.

The funny Rakugo, a Japanese form of comedy, also entertains lots of tourists. I've seen one myself and I just can not stop myself from laughing when remembering.

There are a lot more reasons that would make anyone want to go to the country and I guess it would take forever before I could tell them all. True to its name, Japan will always be the Land of the Rising Sun and no matter how poets devise their words and frame metaphors, it would never be enough to define its beauty and splendor.

When the Earth Shakes

I'm not usually scared of earthquakes. After all, in my home country -Mexico- they are so common I find it pointless to be scared of them. Whether you are scared of them or not they will keep happening so you might as well get used to it and learn to remain calm. But on September 7th, there was an earthquake the likes of which I had never felt before.

Despite the fact that it was almost midnight, I was not sleeping. I was reading, as I usually am at that hour. I heard the siren at once and that dreadful male voice repeating over and over: Alerta sísmica … Alerta sísmica … which basically means: Get moving, there's an earthquake going on!

I felt the shaking at once, it was not very strong. It felt like any other earthquake. So I just roled my eyes and got out of bed, annoyed but not scared … yet. I found my sister in the hallway. A word about my sister: she freaks out whenever there's an earthquake, no matter how small or short. She hates them! She gets scared out of her mind! It's a phobia for her.

So we did what she always does when there's an earthquake: we went to my mother's room. Unlike my sister, my mom is not scared of earthquakes at all. She says she enjoys the slow moving of the ground, that it lulls her as if Mother Earth was rocking us all, back and forth, back and forth. I'm somewhere in between them. I do not get scared like my sister and I sometimes do enjoy the movement but I'm always hiring it ends soon.

We get to my mother's room and she's just there lying on her bed without a care in the world. My sister goes straight into her arms and starts breathing heavily. "Shh, shhh … it's all right. It will be over soon. There's nothing to fear", my mom tells her in a soothing voice but my sister's freaking out. The movement gets stronger. The whole apartment is rocking now back and forth, the little bells in the doorway ringing like crazy.

"Mom … Mom …" My sister's heart is racing, I can feel it as I rub her back. And I feel my own heart accelerating too, so does the movement. It gets stronger.

"Hey, look at me!" My mother says to me, she can see I'm about to lose it too. "It's all right, it's going to be over soon.

But her words are no good this time. It's not stopping, it's only getting stronger. I can hear people shouting from the streets, I want to go to the window and see what's going on but I'm afraid to move. Maybe we should run for it. But we are four stories above ground, we would never make it down the stairs with this horrible shaking. Ides, then what? We are surrounded by buildings, there's no place to run. If this place falls down we are going down with it. I start to panic. I imagine the building crashing down on us, burying us in the ground. Mom reaches out for me, trying to hold me too like she's doing my sister but I can not stay put. That only makes the move feel stronger. I start to pace around the room.

"Please … God … Please … Make it stop … It has to stop …"

The shutters in my mother's bedroom smack against the windows, the crystal rattling. This has worn too long, too long. They say that an earthquake is all the more dangerous when it lasts for a long time, that in the end, that's what makes buildings fall down. This one has gone on forever.

I close my eyes and try to settle my breathing. A friend of mine had recently shown me how to ground myself. She made me picture roots coming out of my feet, stretching underground and anchoring me to the center of the Earth. That's what I do now. I imagine roots coming out of me, out of my mother and my sister and out of the whole building, strong roots stretching underground and reaching the center of the Earth, holding us in place, holding us steady, anchoring us. The movement subsides. I open my eyes and realize the room is not moving that much anymore. It is slowing down, now it feels like a normal earthquake. I reach for my mother.

"It's stopping now", she says to my sister. "See? It's over".

The bad thing about living in an apartment is that even after the earthquake is over, the whole building keeps shaving. It takes some time for it to stop moving. But it ever did, and we all breathed a sigh of relief. My sister burst out in tears and I tried to steady my hands which would not stop shaking, my whole body was trembling.

My phone rang and the messages started coming in, friends and family asking if we were all right. Social media was full of comments about how strong the earthquake had been and how people thought this was really the end. I could not blame them. For a moment, I thought it was too.

People were jumpy all through the next day, and there were many replicas, some of them so small nobody felt them, some others uncomfortably long but nothing like that first big one. The one on Thursday had been the strongest one there's been in Mexico in the last hundred years. However, we were all surprised (and relieved) that there was not much damage in Mexico City.

In 1985, there had been an earthquake in Guerrero, with a magnitude of 8.1 which devastated Mexico City. Many buildings fell down, thousands of people lost their lives and others had to be rescued from under the rubble. Since then people expect the worst from earthquakes and the people who lived through it still think of it as a tragic event.

Neverheless, this earthquake which had a magnitude of 8.2 did not have the same devastating effects. Not a single building fell down and there were not many people injured in Mexico City – oh you know, the occasional panicky person who fell down the stairs trying to run away and twisted her ankle, or the man who ended up in the hospital after a lamp fell on him … but nothing too horrible. Not in the capital, at least. The states of Oaxaca and Chiapas (where the epicenter was), that's another story. Houses fell down, people died or were left destitute of their home or livelihood.

I know earthquakes are natural phenomena but still, with all that's happening around the world -the hurricanes, the tsunamis, the floods … I can not help but think that it is impossible to deny the effects of climate change and our involvement in it. I think the Earth is shouting at the top of her lungs, in every way she can: Stop it, humans!

The message is clear: We need to change our ways and take better care of our planet. We have been living at its expense for too long.

Also, it's important to consider the power of our collective consciousness. Every human has powers of creation and manifestation at their disposal, those tools are our thoughts, our words and, most powerful of all, our actions. We might not think that every thought we think is relevant or powerful enough to change anything. But that's wrong. Thoughts have power. There's no such thing as an innocent thought. Everything you think has the power to call things into being, that's why we need to monitor our mind and not let it run rampant. It's more powerful than we think, and when two people or more think the same way, that power multiplies. So if every human being on the planet goes: This is the end, we are going to die!

Uh-oh. Then we are in trouble.

We co-create this reality. We think it into being. So be careful what you think. Also with your words. If you're going to speak or write, let your words be full of hope and positivity and love. Words have power and you never know who might be listening.

And finally, your actions. It goes without saying that your actions have power and you can use that power to make a change for the better.

All in all, we are strong creatures, strong enough to create the reality we live every day of our lives. We can not let fear into our mind, I know that's easier said than done but it's important to remember that fear also has power. Like attractions like. What you fear, you manifest. It's as simple as that. That's why it is so important to monitor ourselves. Our thoughts, words and actions have power so we have to MIND them.

Let each think you think, each word you speak and each and every one of your actions call into being a better reality, a better world. I know it's sometimes hard to think that one person can make a difference, but we are never really alone in our way of thinking. There are people all over the world who think the same way as we do and if we decide to change our ways for the better … well, it's only a matter of time before we change our world.

And yes, "you may call me a dreamer, but I'm not the only one".

His words, not mine.
