Plantation Shutters – Choosing Between Traditional Wood and Hi-Tech Polycore Shutters

There are several factors that determine the functionality and the aesthetic quality of interior shutters for your windows which will make them stand out as an attractive feature of your room. These window shutters will have three modes of operation: shutter slats fully open to allow in maximum light; slats fully closed to prevent light from coming in; and with the louvers partially open to restrict and control the exterior light and view to the desired level.

In many ways the most important of these three is in the fully open mode. From the functionality point of view, the louver or shutter slat width largely determines the amount of light coming in and the ability to see outside. The thinner the louver, the more light can come in and the better the view. This thickness is determined by the strength of the material that the shutters are made of. For example blinds can be angled so that one can obtain a good view; but they lack real strength and are less aesthetically pleasing. Similar one can obtain several types of polymer fabricated interior window shutters, but some of these have both the look and feel of flimsiness as well as plasticity. This lack of structural strength prevails the thinner, more elegant appearance that most people prefer.

There are two good options you could go for, the more traditional wood shutters or the Polycore shutters which use a new breakthrough technology of polymer construction with a metal core for the additional strength required to operate effectively. Both are elegant, aesthetically pleasing and operate smoothly – they do their job and look good! As to which to choose, it really is up to one's own preference. Wood certainly provides the more natural and traditional look of plantation shutters. The Polycore shutters do not have such a wide range of colors, generally only coming in white, off-white and cream. However, they are well-designed and stylish as well as being significantly cheaper than the usually more desirable wooden plantation shutters.

Bridal Shower Ideas – 10 Door Prize Ideas For a Wedding Shower

As you search different bridal shower ideas, remember that your guests will be just as excited about the door prizes as they are about being involved in the pre-wedding celebrations. They will be anticipating with curiosity what wedding shower favors and game prizes you will be handing out. Most people will be happy to receive anything, but it is always nice to give something that will be appreciated and enjoyed. The general rule of thumb is to select bridal shower door prizes that you would want to receive yourself. Here are ten door prize ideas, both inexpensive and pricier, for bridal showers.

If you would like everyone to get a prize or bridal shower favor, then you will probably want to choose one of these inexpensive favor ideas.

Inexpensive door prizes:

  1. Makeup, such as lipstick or kits in the same colors as your decorations. Think pink lipstick for a pink and brown party.
  2. Fun or romantic candles. If the wedding will have a beach theme, you can even get flip flop shaped candles.
  3. Soaps that fit your bridal shower theme. For example, you can get ‘perfect pair’ soaps for that theme.
  4. Lotions in the colors of your theme
  5. Picture frames. You could even take pictures on the day to put in the frame right away.
  6. Purse hooks. Every woman needs a purse hook for restaurants or clubs, and we rarely have one.
  7. Small mirror compacts. These can be personalized as well, for very little money.
  8. Personalized candy or chocolates. Classic mint tins or favor boxes with chocolates are always popular.
  9. Personalized book marks. These can be purchased in many theme shapes.
  10. Gift cards to places such as Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks

If you are planning to just give out one large door prize, and you can afford it, then select something from the list of expensive prizes.

More expensive door prizes:

  1. Movie tickets. A pair of movie tickets can also be combined with a dinner gift card.
  2. Restaurant gift card for a nice restaurant locally.
  3. Champagne or wine. You could also combine this with chocolate or candles for romance.
  4. Gift baskets with spa products or food. Select different lotions, bath salts and soaps; or collect gourmet wine, cheese and crackers.
  5. Spa certificates. A gift card to a spa works well if everyone is local to where the spa is located.
  6. Personalized manicure sets. Depending on what you choose, this can also be an inexpensive favor that you give to everyone.
  7. Jewelry, such as small bracelets. There are pretty silk pouches that you can put a cute bracelet or earrings in, so long as you have all girls at your shower.
  8. Plants or flowers, if everyone is local. Flowers can be placed in a pretty vase for a longer lasting keepsake.
  9. Box of gourmet chocolate. There is nothing quite like an expensive box of Belgian chocolates.
  10. Night at a bed and breakfast. This is a more expensive prize, but sure to be appreciated. You just have to make sure it is somewhere that anyone at the shower could take advantage of.

For the inexpensive bridal shower favors that you hand out to everyone, you can place them at each person’s seat if you are having a sit-down meal. Alternatively, you can place them on a table for your guests to take as they walk out the door.

If you are only giving out one or two bigger prizes, there are a few ways to do it. The gifts can be a prize that someone wins as part of your bridal shower games, or you could use scratch off lottery tickets. The person who gets the highest number wins the prize. A more traditional way to win is to place numbers under every seat or plate and do a drawing at the end in which you pull a number from a basket.

A great way to make sure that everyone comes away happy is to give a small, inexpensive bridal shower favor to everyone. Then give just one or two larger prizes for winners of a game or drawing. All your guests will have something to take home as a memory of the day, no one leaves empty-handed, and there is at least one person who is ecstatic!

Gel Nails – Simple Instructions on Gel Nail Application

Gel Nails have become the latest and a more natural alternative to acrylic nails as they do not cause any damage to your real nails. Also, gel nails dry instantaneously and lift less when compared to acrylics. Gel nails can also be used to strengthen your natural nails by applying them as a base coat.

The increasing popularity gel nails have been receiving universally has tempted many to try it out themselves. Gel nail styles have been so exotic and multifarious that it certainly entices many to embellish their nails with the new gel fashion fad.

If you are looking to enhance your nail beauty through gel nails by doing it yourself, it is important to understand their application to prevent any harm to your nails. Being the hottest in the nail beauty segment, gel nails are yet to be completely understood and applied correctly. One must not confuse gel with acrylic. Although gel and acrylics are both of the acrylic category and are prepared using the same type of acrylics, they differ in their application. This is primarily because both are made using different procedures, curing techniques, molecular structures, etc.

Here are some basic instructions that will guide you on applying nail gels correctly and professionally without cutting corners.

1) First, if you have any natural shine on your nails, then buff your nails to remove it. Once done, apply one coat of primer and let it dry completely.

2) Take the gel brush and apply the nail gel on your nail, brushing a thin layer starting from your cuticle to your nail tip. The application motion should be similar to applying nail polish. Make sure that the brush hairs do not come out while applying the gel. If they do, it means you are putting too much of pressure which must be avoided.

3) Once the gel is brushed on your nails, put your hands under a UV light for one to three minutes till the gel dries completely.

4) Now brush on another coat of nail gel as explained in step 2. However, make sure a drop of gel forms on your nail and then slowly spread it on your entire nail.

5) Once again put your hands under the UV light to dry the gel.

6) Perform the procedure again for the 3rd time. This time spread the gel to get an even gel-like uniformity. Once again put your hands under the UV light for drying.

7) Once the gel is completely cleaned, file your nails to the shape you desire.
In the process of gel nail application, be careful that the gel does not come in contact with your skin as this will cause your nails to lift later. Also, do not apply the gel in excess as this will cause air bubbles to form or lead to uneven curing.

Applying gel nails may appear very simple but it's not when it comes to doing it yourself. Therefore, it is recommended that you get your gel nails done by a professional nail artist or a nail salon that specializes in it and can do it the right way.

Once you are comfortable with it and are confident of doing it yourself after having done through a professional, you can try it out yourself next time.

Winners – Are You a Valley Or a Mountain Person? Overcoming the Challenges of Self Employment

"It's not where you start it's where you finish" so the song goes … meaning that you do not need to have the decision to be one – you can acquire the necessary skills along the way.

This weekend I've been looking at my attitude (well I'm always looking at this to tell the truth). Let's face it we could use something to give us a kick in the pants when we start feeling sorry for ourselves. However, sometimes it's worth stepping back to look at the big picture and reflect. So yesterday I gradually stepped off the roundabout for a day to rest and recharge the batteries.

I've started to read a book by Frank Dick, OBE former director of Coaching for British Athletics. He talks about the difference between Valley people and Mountain people . Valley people seek the calm and comfortable ground of shelter, safety and security – their concept of achievement is not losing ', and belong to the' woulda, coulda, shouda 'brigade.

Mountain people however, have decided that valley life is not for them and seek to test ambition on the toughest climbs. They know that there is rich satisfaction in reaching the top and the fight that's needed to get there.

Whilst reading I also learned something very interesting from Miroslav Vanek, former President of the International Federation of Sport Psychologists. He did a comparison study between motivation and talent. What was evident from his study that the most talented athletes did not have the same high level of motivation as the less gifted , who had to learn to deal with defeat. Therefore, those athletes who had not had the chance to develop a resilience to defeat – "a resilience they would need in the senior arena where every athlete, no matter how able, sooner or late faces defeat, because their abilities had never been challenged. These athletes had never stretched themselves ".

He goes on to say that the less talented athletes had been obliged to learn, to adapt, to fight, to bounce back. They had learned to face change.

What I took from this book is that in actuality – it's my own personal attributes – which are critical in overcoming obstacles, regardless of what industry, arena or field I'm in. Without these attributes I would be unable to handle myself in challenging times, deal with change or setbacks. Without it – I would be blaming my circumstances, or feel a victim or powerless in the face of these external influences.

I had to admit to myself – that yes as a kid I was a talented athlete – but as to whether or not I had it within myself to accept defeat was something else. Then I recalled the time I was selected to trial for my County as a sprinter. On the day I did not even get a chance to compete because I slipped and fell flat on my face at the start line. Speechless disappointment followed. Then there was the time I was unable to successfully defend my long jump title because I delivered 3 'no jumps' in a row, and walked away in tears. Then there was the really disappointment of being beaten into 3rd place by .5cm at an important long jump event, and therefore missing out on the All England Championships later that season.

Sure I probably did allow those things to 'hang around' for a few days – before having a meaningful discussion with my Coach and looking for alternatives or 'finding the positives' in the situation – which I ever did.

So … when you translate that into business, think about this. You've got a great product or an amazing service. But that's not enough. Because when you work for yourself – every challenge is usually magnified a 100 times anyway, because at the end of the day – the buck stops with you does not it?

In order to pass the winning post first requires a decision to work on yourself as well. You may only be running a business part-time or have only just started, or you're about to diversity, but consider yourself as a mountain person.

  • Concentrate on what's important . Whatever discomfort or sacrifice or inconvenience you are experiencing NOW may be temporary – but the short term pain will be worth it in the long run
  • Commit to being a professional and aim for excellence. Ask yourself from now on "how can I add value – how can I be even better".
  • G o the extra mile in all areas . What would the best of the best be thinking and doing right now?
  • B elieve in yourself first – work with a trusted adviser, mentor or coach. Plaster your house with slogans that tell you you're amazing. Stay away from the dream stealers and their tiny minds.
  • Be flexible to changing circumstances and be open to new opportunities. Even difficulties have within them potential profitable opportunities
  • Be organized – treat your business and yourself as a professional at all times – even if nobody can needlessly see everything going on in the background – remember you'll know which is just as important

Aluminum Alloys 7075 and 6061: Differences and Practical Applications

What are the main differences between aluminum alloys 7075 and 6061 and where are they best used for? While these are both extensely used in the manufacture of bicycle frames and components, there is a world of difference between the constitution and application of the two.

Where Lies the Difference?

The primary difference between aluminum alloys 6061 and 7075 starts with their main composition. Aluminum 6061 uses magnesium and silicon as its main alloy element while aluminum 7075 uses zinc. In general, aluminum grade 6061 is highly weldable using tungsten inert gas (TIG) or metal inert gas (MIG), highly resistant to corrosion and exhibits good mechanical properties. Alloy 7075, on the other hand, exhibits better tensile strength but is considerably less resistant to corrosion.

The mechanical properties of both alloys predominantly depend on the temper or heat treatment of the material. Annealed or pre-tempered grade 6061-O provides the least tensile strength (18,000 psi) and yield strength (8,000 psi) while tempered grade 6061-T6 provides the most tensile (42,000 psi) and yield strength (35,000 psi) among the 6061 alloys .

For the 7075 alloys, the un-heat treated 7075-O comes at the lower end of the tensile and yield strength spectrum (40,000 psi and 21,000 psi, respectively) while 7075-T6 provides the most tensile (74,000 to 78,000 psi) and yield strength (63,000 to 69,000 psi).

Practical Applications

Since alloy 7075 is considerably more expensive as compared to other aluminum alloys, it is only used when cheaper alloys would not be enough to do the job. It is most commonly used in applications that require high strength-to-density ratio. As such, 7075 is the alloy of choice when it comes to transport (automotive, aviation and marine) applications.

Due to its lightweight nature, 7075 is also used in the production of hang glider airframes, rock climbing equipment, lacrosse stick shafts and bicycle components. Alloy 7075 is also used in the manufacture of M16 and precision rifles for the American Army, the Desert Tactical Arms and the French armament company.

Alloy 6061, on the other hand, is considered to be the aluminum alloy of choice for general purpose use. The alloy's highly resistant nature makes it suitable for the production of heavy-duty structures such as truck and marine components, tank fittings, scuba tanks and other high pressure applications. It can likewise be used in the manufacture of homebuilt aircraft, small utility yacht and boats, bicycle components, fly fishing reels and aluminum cans for food packaging. In addition, 6065 is also the most suitable alloy for hot forging.

So, whether you simply want to know what material your bicycle frame was made with or you want to determine the most appropriate material to use for a particular project, knowing the difference between alloys 6061 and 7075 can come in quite handy.

The Dangers of Drinking Coffee

If you drink coffee because you think you need to in order to rev or pep you up daily, especially if you work in corporate America, here are some things to think about relating to this liquid drug that is the number one cause of cancer of the esophagus:

The first thing you should think about is – why would you drink something that is so hot that if you stuck your finger in it, it would burn the hell out of you? If it burns your finger, what do you think it does to your tissues and cells through your body? Hot beverages destroy (kill) your cells, ie cancer!

Coffee is a stimulant to the central nervous system. Drinking coffee inhibits the release of natural brain opiates (that make you feel good and counteracts pain). Women need all the natural brain opiates their bodies can muster up, especially around the menstrual period and not to mention childbirth (which is very painful due to the inordinate decrease of opiates in the modern American woman). Coffee may rev you up for a while, but is sure to bring down as well (making you crave more of it, after all, it is a drug, at least in the state that we use it today). Excessive consumption of coffee causes shaking and trembling of the hands due to nervousness. Coffee greatly impairs the nervous system.

Coffee also kills the adrenal glands. Nearly everyone in America has shot-out adrenal glands!

Coffee revs up these glands, but also brings them down. Anything that goes up and then down taxes the body.

Coffee contains the stimulant caffeine. This is dead caffeine, unlike bio-active caffeine found in green tea, black tea, yerba mat, guarana, and kola nut. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant that is followed by a depressed phase resulting in exhaustion, nervousness, irritability, fatigue, and often headache. Caffeine constricts blood vessels of the brain and causes reduced flow of blood which cuts the oxygen supply to the brain, resulting in gradual brain damage. It also increases your heartbeat 15% and makes your lungs work 13 times harder than normal. It very plays a role in fatigue as well.

The volatile oil in caffeine called caffeol is an irritant to the lining of the stomach and causes poor digestion.

Another chemical in this liquid drug is caffeine-tannic acid. This chemical is used in tanning leather. It is an irritating astringent to the cells lining the stomach and intestines and also destroys the pepsin in the gastric (stomach) juice needed to digest protein.

Coffee is a drug! Do you know why coffee is freely given in corporate America? Because it makes people work and perform efficiently by speeding up the brain so that jobs can get the best productivity out of their workers (slaves). People mainly drink coffee in the morning, at least 3 cups (over 400+ mg of caffeine) by noon. But by noon, they are mentally shot and drained, which explains why job productivity decrees around noontime in America. The workers will then get their caffeine kick or hit from drinking soda pop (coke, pepsi, etc.) and / or eating chocolate, which is also why you see these vending machines that sell sodas and chocolates in corporate America.

If you want to get something out of people, just give them some caffeine. Coffee, chocolate, cigarettes, and soda all have caffeine. When investigators or police want to obtain information from people, what do they offer people? A cup of coffee and a cigarette!

In wars, what do American soldiers give the children of the countries they are fighting in and against (especially when they want information)? Chocolate bars!

Most restaurants and diners offer you a cup of coffee for starters. Why? Because coffee clears the palate (taste buds) and sense of olfaction (smell), as well as make your stomach crave food so that you will become hungry, be able to smell the food, and taste the substance of the food once you begin to eat the food. Why do you think they have you smell coffee beans in a jar at aromatherapy shops? To clear your olfaction (sense of smell) so you can smell the various oils.

Did you know that early Arab Muslims used to give the potential or prospective Muslim convert and warrior free coffee at lectures, to get them to join Islam and fight in so-called holy wars (jihad) for the cause of Islam?

The Arabs had the market on coffee sealed. When Europeans first got their hands and taste buds on coffee, they went crazy. Europeans wanted to start a market for coffee in Europe but the Arabs were not having that! Certain European merchants began to start secretly exporting coffee out of Africa and Arabia (where coffee originated), and importing it into Europe. The Europeans did not want the Arabs to know what they were doing with their drug (coffee), so once the Europeans got the coffee into their country, they began to refer to it by code names, such as Java, Mocha, and cappucino, which are all names of countries where European merchants were exporting coffee from. Java is an island in Indonesia. Mocha is a city in Yemen, Arabia. Cappucino derives its name from the Italian city Capuchin (all Arab Muslim strongholds). The word coffee itself derives its name from kaf, the Ethiopian name for coffee.

A great alternative to drinking coffee is Teeccino herbal coffee, made of roasted carob, barley, chicory root, figs, dates, orange peel and almonds. It is very delicious and tastes just like coffee if not better. You can find it (and other tastes) at most health food stores such as Whole Food Market (1-800-SHOP-WFM).

Herbal teas such as guarana, kola nut, and yerba mate are also excellent alternatives to coffee and includes bio-active caffeine which is not deleterious to the body.

The herbs borage, basil, licorice, ginseng, astragalus, and fo ti are great for restoring the adrenal glands.

Thank you for reading!

Astral Projection Spy – The Amazing Truth Revealed

One of the most interesting components of the research done into the out body body experience was the US military study into using astral projection as a spying technique on foreign countries and other miscellaneous enemies. As far fetched as it sounds, the CIA conducted an experiment in remote viewing, or "seeing at a distance" that employed a series of highly regarded psychic spies, as well as ordinary military intelligence as a way to peek both at the possibilities of using ESP in warfare, as well as of course, seeing what the other guys were REALLY doing over "there" …

After about a decade or so, the "official" lab was closed, and it's results were released to congressional oversight and review. The operation was called "Star-gate" and any simple search engine query will offer eons of reading on the incredible results turned in by some of the highly trained psychic spies employed to peek behind enemy lines … while they're bodies were many thousands of miles away!

The most famous of these paranormal guinea pigs is Indigo Swann, whose accuracy in remote viewing is unexplainable by any current known scientific standard or process. His ability to see, via powers we do not yet understand, people, places and things in geographical locales many miles, and even countries away, is simply jaw dropping. Several other participants of project Star-gate have gone on to very celebrated careers as authors and speakers on Astral Projection, psychic ability and one or two actively teach the skill to others in workshops around the world. A bestselling book also emanated from the same group, "Psychic Spies", which highlights the experiences of one of the remote viewers during these experiments – his claim of developing psychic powers after being shot in the head during the Vietnam war was bolstered after considering after showing off these skills for an incredulous military audience.

Overall, like much in this venue, it's simply amazing, phenomenal and exciting stuff that would make any hardcore "X-files" devote green with envy .. 🙂

Possible Problems Encountered In Raising Cattle

If you are planning to raise cattle for farming or business purposes, you must determine first your purpose and what breed of cattle would you like to grow. Because each breed of cattle has different needs to attend to. If you do not know the kind of cattle you have then it will be a big head ache for you.

When you tend to raise cattle for beef industry your first problem is the adequacy of the area you are going to keep your cattle. The fact that human population is making land area conduced so giving a little space for farmers and livestock growers to raise their livestock it would be a great trouble for you. Cattle need to graze and should be put in an open field. When I say open field it does not mean that you can have just a few square meters of land area. It denotes hectares and hectares of land area. However when raising a cattle for farming land area is not an issue, farmers can just put their cattle at their backyard for fattening purposes.

Another mind boggling issue is the capital to sustain the cattle business. When you raise cattle for business you must see to it that you have an amount of money to sustain your business especially when you do not have a hundred hectares for pasture. You need to buy feeds for them. Not just food but other supplementary needs of your cattle depending on the breed you got. Contrary to cattle business, cattle for farming do not need that much capital. Farmers will just look for hays and fresh grass to feed them.

Weather is another factor a cattle raiser should take into account. Granting that the farmer has a vast land area for his cattle, the primary concern of the cattle drawer is daught. Too much heat from the sun would destroy the grass which is the cattle's basic food supply. Instead of minimizing operating expenses, cattle raiser would be forced to spend extra amount for feeds due to the scarcity of grass for the cattle to graze.

Disease and Parasites are also an issue that cattle growers burdened themselves. Disease like FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease), Mad Cow disease and other animal illness continue to beothersome to livestock growers. Although there have been vaccines it still is a threat especially to small time cattle growers with limited capital.

Here is a few of the contributing problems in cattle raising that have been laid down, would farmers and cattle growers should attend seminars and lectures governing this in order to be aware of the arising problems. Awareness is the key for a successful cattle raising business.

Text Flirting – How to Make a Girl Like You Over Text Messaging

It's not about being the most dominant guy. It's about being the most creative guy and taking risks. Creativity comes before dominance because the creative guy can adapt to situations and make things fun and pull people into an emotionally driven world. The creative guy can create dominance by taking risks.

Rule # 1

Get Her Laughing

My number 1 rule in text messaging a girl for the first time is to get her laughing. Usually I do not like to even get someone on the phone it's either meeting up with someone or text messaging.

The Use of Cliffhangers

Do you ever wonder why women always watch drama filled TV shows on the LIFETIME network or even prime time TV? It's because all women love drama whether they admit to it or not, in fact most women will say to your face that they despise drama despite the fact they are creating whirlwinds of it in their own lives, like moths to a flame they can not help the irresistible urge to go to where the drama is.

The key is to create positive drama in your life. Positive Masculine drama is what I like to call the "what is he gonna be up to next" effect when you constantly have things going on in your life (real or perceived) you are creating the positive male energy that women crave.

Here are some example text messages I have used in the past:

"WOW, I can not believe" – (use this example if you are stuck on getting a response from a flaky woman, this will always get a response of some sort)

The MASS Text Message

– If you already have a presence or personality particularly if you are in college on campus you can use this one a lot more and without discretion, just make sure the things are texting are cool and sound fun otherwise you will be considered social spam – just made that up.

The Mass Text Message is one to be used sparingly and it also must seem that this text message could have been interpreted as a single private message so as an example you could say something like "hey, everyone is going down to the * bar * tonight would like to see your face there! "

The WAITER

After you get the girl to commit something to the conversation you can use "The WAITER" technique which is basically used to make the girl wait for a response from you wait until it gets to a hook point (it must be something significant) and then simply sit on it and do not respond for up to 4-6 hours depending on the level of commitment you have from the girl use this technique sparingly.

The Innuendo

Use this one sparingly as well but one thing you can do is use words like come and get off in a minority (not sure what he means way) If she mentions it in a sexual way say back to her in a PLAYFUL way
that she should really get her mind out of the gutter.

Can Oral Contraceptives Cause Candida?

Acidophilus is certainly a great way to take care of Candida overgrowth, but what if you do not know you have Candidiasis? The truth is a Candida infection causes symptoms that clearly resemble a slew of other illnesses. To make matters worse, many people continue to have an overgrowth of Candida in their system without knowing the cause. For instance, if you're a woman taking birth control pills, did you know that you have a 20% higher risk of developing Candidiasis related infections than other women?

What is the relationship between Candida overgrowth and the Pill?

Birth control pills effect hormones and induce hormonal changes that lower a woman's ability to control Candida overgrowth, which can trigger yeast infections.

Research has discovered that yeast cells have estrogen receptors which are stimulated by hormones in the birth control pill, and can cause the growth of yeast.

Most women who develop yeast infections from the Pill tend to have an outbreak when there is significant hormone chance such as when they –

– First beginning taking oral contraceptives

– Are close to their period

– Change oral contraceptives

– Go back on the Pill after discontinuing use.

However, the vast majority of women who take the pill do not develop yeast infections. Furthermore, yeast infections may develop due to other causes such as diet, antibiotics or other product use.

You can reduce the development of Candidiasis when taking oral contraceptives by:

– Sticking to cotton undergarments – Make sure your panties have cotton lining, but it's best to wear all-cotton underwear. Nylon traps moisture against your skin and does not absorb moisture like cotton does to keep skin dry. Trapped moisture breeds bacteria growth. You should also avoid nylon and spandex leotards when working out.

– Change out of exercise clothing – After you've exercised remove your clothing and put on dry clothes as soon as possible, even if you can not take a shower.

– Sleep without underwear – This will help your vaginal area to breath.

– Minimize the use of panty liners – Wearing panty liners every day can increase the risk of yeast infection because the plastic on the bottom of the liners locks in moisture. Also, when on your period, change your pad frequently.

– Lower the sugar in your diet – Refrain from eating foods that contain high sugars, as sugar encourages the growth of yeast. It's also a good idea to add yogurt that contains "active bacterial culture" to your diet to help replenish the good bacteria you need in your system that helps control yeast overgrowth.

– Avoid perfumes – Do not use scented toilet paper or feminine hygiene products this can cause irritation. In addition, if you are sensitive to perfume you also should not take spotted baths.

– Avoid douching – This washes out the good bacteria and creates an imbalance making you open to infection.

When to see your doctor

– If you have never had a vaginal yeast infection before – you should make sure you have is a yeast infection. Some sexually transmitted diseases like Herpes, can present symptoms similar to a yeast infection. Additionally, if you've never had a yeast infection, it's best to ask your doctor what over-the-counter product they recommend to help clear your infection.

There are many products and not all work to eliminate yeast. Two of the more effective and recommended products available are those that contain miconazole (Monistat 7) and clotrimazone (Gyne-Lotrimin).

– If you have to repeat yeast infections (4 or more per year) – If you are taking oral contraceptives and are developing frequent yeast infections you may want to discuss other methods of birth control with your doctor, and carefully consider your diet and lifestyle. You may also want to have your male partner checked for a yeast infection, especially if he is not circumcised, as he may be passing it on to you.

Georgian and Victorian Grand Entrance Doors

For homebuilders planning a Georgian or Victorian style home, one of the most important element decisions will be choosing a grand entrance door, the distinct signature of a home's character. Whereas windows are considered the eyes of a home, the grand entrance door is the open, welcoming embrace, the gateway to the warmth within. Of course, the entrance door also must serve to be a barrier of a kind, to both unfriendly visitors and unkind weather, and the need for strength and security is just as important as a stylish appearance. Before choosing a period door, consulting with a bespoke joinery that specializes in period reproduction style doors would be a wise decision. Both Georgian and Victorian style doors are meant to give a grand first impression, and they are designed to enhance the overall appearance of an entry.

Georgian architecture is a broad term defining all styles created during the reign of the first three King Georges of England between 1750 and 1820. The three most important elements of the period of design and construction style were proportion, symmetry, and elegance. The elegance leaned toward simplicity, however, and ornamentation was muted. More emphasis was placed upon solidarity, and Georgian dwellings tended to be so sound constructed that many remained standing in their near-original state centuries later. In keeping with a balanced façade, great attention was given to the doors and windows. The grand entrance door was especially important as the principal feature of a Georgian home.

Doors were usually set back at least four inches from the brick, stone or timber front. They were very sturdy, thick-timbered doors, but usually simple in design with four or six panels, and they often had a semi-circular or semi-elliptical fanlight above the door, which is a window with glazing bars that radiate out like a fan. Later Georgian doors became more ornate, with more intricate transom windows and sidelights adorned with tracery. Fine examples of Georgian style grand entrance doors with beautiful fanlights and sidelights can be found in London on Portland Place, in particular on the west side, numbers 27 to 47, south of Devonshire Street.

Victorian style architecture broadly encompasses any building or style created during her reign from 1837 to 1901, and much is constructed in brick, stone, and timber incorporating an eclectic mix of other architectural styles and motifs. The Victorian period designers and craftsmen were quite fond of ornament, patterned details, plenty of trim, and bold colors. The homes most often had bay windows, ornate string courses, decorative gables and keys, interesting brickwork, and elegant grand entrances. Stained glass became popular, especially among the affluent, and soon became a standard inclusion of many Victorian doors. The carved panel work became more stylish, divided into four to six sections, and great attention was given to gleaming brass door furniture. The mortise lock, developed during the Victorian era, replaced the rim lock. Fanlights and glazed upper panels replaced the above-door fanlights, but sidelights remained popular.

Both Georgian and Victorian grand entrance door styles have their own unique features and historical significance. When building a period style house, it is important to research and understand the architectural elements inherent in the period door design to match the home's architecture accordingly. A respectable bespoke joinery can assist homebuilders in choosing the right grand entrance door and in keeping true to history.

Curtains – Choosing the Right Color Scheme

Curtains, Blinds & Other Soft Furnishings

Help Choosing the Right Curtains for Your Property

When you see other people's homes and think that their choices of curtains and blinds look good it's important that you take into consideration the style of their room, compared to your own.

Design Fashion Magazines should be used as a guide for inspiration for your curtains and blinds and not to imitate, as often if we imitate we only take one element from the magazine image and this single imitation alone will result in disappointing results as the rest of your room, your natural light and your existing furniture will have been overlooked.

Its common to see fabrics for curtains, blinds and other soft furnishings and choose them because they are what we want and love – then the entire décor of the room has to be changed so that we can use it.

It is important to look at the space that we have to work with and consider the following factors:

• The age of the house
• The style of the decoration in the surrounding rooms, does this room flow into others, will the curtains be seen from other spaces?
• Who will be using the space? If children are around white fabrics for your curtains will probably not be advisable
• What type of furniture and upholstery, bedding, flooring etc.

It is easy to see why we often lack the confidence to make a decision

A Recent Question from One of My Clients, Prior To My Visit

Here is a recent question asked by a client before we met at her home, she wanted to have a vision before we arrived to ensure that her selection of fabric was easy once I had shown her our samples.

This is what she said

We have a single color, textured wool carpet throughout the whole house, which is a kind of taupe color. mahogany .We have various white ceramic lamps with taupe lampshades.

We need curtains for the living room and this space can be viewed from most other areas except the bedrooms and bathrooms. What fabrics do we select and what style of curtain? "

This is the advice I have given her to our meeting

I immediately think of texture, one color, no pattern, even though we could get away with using a pattern it would turn the curtains into the main focal point and that is not required; we are looking for a harmonious color and textured curtain to blend into the rest of the décor.

My choice would be to:
• Black wrought iron rods with simple ball ends
• Two-Tone, tab top curtains. Taupe for the tabs and heading and the rest of the fabric white linen, lined to add depth and weight.
• No holds or tie backs as the room is plain and symmetrical therefore to allow the curtains to fall naturally would continue the geometrics of the room.

Using the two tone effects, the tabs and heading in taupe and the white heavy linen for the main body of the curtains, we are bringing in the existing colors of the room together in a natural way and are not detracting from the overall look.

When selecting colors remember this golden rule

A safe way to select a fabric for your curtains, if you have a single colored room, is to take a tone either side of that color. You can not go wrong. Then you can add more excitation into the room with cushions, throws, rugs etc.

Also remember that the darker the color of the fabric the more sunlight it joins, speeding up the fading process.

Patterns can be fun with curtains!

So do not be afraid of selecting a pattern for your curtains

A child's room can tolerate pattern more than an adults room, adults often use a space to unwind so this needs to be taken into consideration when selecting a pattern, too much swirl, color and busyness in an adults bedroom can often detract you from unwinding.

So when you look at pattern take notice of how you feel. If you feel calm and relaxed for example, then this would be a good fabric for your bedroom curtains, if you feel uplifted and energized then this would be good in a work space.

A general rule for pattern is to not let it overwhelm the space. Your curtains can be a focal point of a room but ensure that there is a balance.

With all this said, selecting fabrics may seem a little overwhelming so that's why we are here …..

Cleaning Snowboarding Boots

It’s hard to find a way of having more fun in the winter, so there’s nothing better than spending time on the slopes at the weekends, boarding and skiing. The trouble is when you get home, exhausted but happy, the temptation is to simply put the gear away in the garage and go and get a hot drink. You think to yourself that you’ll get up early and sort it out in the morning, but you forget and the next time you see the gear will be the next weekend you pack it in to the car to head off to the slopes. So the ski gear will still be left cold and damp for another few days.

After a few weeks of this kind of treatment, you’ll probably notice that your boots are starting to smell a little ripe. This is because all the cold and damp has led to the growth of bacteria in the fabric parts of the boot liners, and they love to give off that very noticeable odour.

What to Do

To get rid of the smell you have to get rid of the bacteria, so you’ll need to do the following:

Clean the Boots

  • Take the liners out of the boots, and put them in a warm room or office to dry. This step alone will kill a proportion of the bacteria.
  • Fill a sink or a bucket with warm water and add one cupful of white vinegar and small amount of laundry powder.
  • Soak the liners in the mix for at least 30 minutes. The vinegar will kill off most of the remaining bacteria and the detergent will deal with the sweat and dirt that any future bacteria would like to feed on.
  • While the liners are soaking, use a sponge soaked in the same solution to clean off the rest of the boots.
  • Once the liners have soaked, rinse them thoroughly in clean water. Don’t worry if they still smell of vinegar after rinsing, that smell will disappear as they dry.
  • Reshape the liners and leave them on a towel to dry thoroughly in a warm room.

Keep the Bacteria at Bay

The cleaning will have dealt with the majority of the bacteria, and so the liners will smell much more sweetly now. The next step is try to prevent the bacteria taking hold again:

  • Spray the liners with an odour spray such as Febreeze or Odour Eater. Office cleaner suppliers are usually a good source for these kind s of products.
  • Make an insert that you can use between sessions on the slopes. Baking soda and Coffee Grounds are ideal for this. Fill and old pair of socks with a mix of the soda and coffee, and tie them off to make a pouch, and put them into the boots when they’re not in use.

Prevention

The best solution is to dry the boots thoroughly after each use.

  • Get in the habit of bringing the boots in to a warm dry room and removing the liners to allow them to air, rather than putting them away wet.
  • Once they are dry, spray the liners with an odour control spray, and drop in the sock pouches described above.

These simple cleaning tips will make your boots much more pleasant to put on and wear, and who knows, you may even find other people want to join you on the slopes again!

The Best Way to Reinstall Windows Without Losing Data

At some point during the course of your computer's use, you will find yourself in the unenviable position of having to reinstall Windows. There are many reasons for this. Sometimes important system files got corrupted or disk errors or viruses caused your system to become unstable.

This is all a result of wear and tear on your PC. When that time comes, you will have to not only know how to reinstall windows, but how to reinstall windows without losing data. Here we refer to a fresh install of Windows and not simply an attempt to repair a few files.

1. Your Vendor's Restore CD

The first step in knowing how to reinstall windows is to locate your vendor's restore CD-otherwise known appropriately enough as a rescue or boot disk. Windows comes with its own rescue CD as well. If that's the only one you have at your disposal then locate your operating system's instructions below.

Rescue CDs are not all alike. Some give you rescue functions as well as important software drivers for your computer. Others are more basic, only allowing you the ability to reformat your hard drive. Do not reformat your hard drive without backing up your personal files to another medium first! Your personal files are those located under 'My Documents' in Windows. The exact location of your personal files and folders varies from one operating system to another.

In Windows XP, for example, you will backup everything in C: Documents and Settings. In Windows 98 and ME, you will backup C: My Documents. More instructions follow below for your particular system. If you have any other folders where you've stored personal stuff back those up as well.

2. Windows 98 and ME CDs

With Windows 98 and ME you do not want to just reinstall windows without backing up important system information. This information can be found in your Windows folders.

First create a new folder on your C: drive and name it oldWindows. Then use Windows explorer to navigate to your Windows folder. Once there, locate the following subfolders: All Users, Application Data, Desktop, Favorites, Local Settings, Profiles, SendTo, and Start Menu. Copy these folders to the oldWindows folder you created.

Now it's time to reboot. Restart Windows with your boot disk Upon startup select Start computer with CD-ROM support. Drivers will begin loading so go ahead and insert your Windows CD-ROM.

To reinstall windows properly you will need to delete your directory tree so type c: windowscommanddeltree / yc: windows and press the Enter key. After that you need to invoke the Windows setup installation procedure located on your Windows CD. Type your CD drive letter and then type setup.

Next get into the DOS prompt from Windows and type

xcopy c: oldWindows *. * c: windows / s / h / r / c.

This will restore all important system information.

3. Windows 2000 and XP CDs

If you have Windows 2000 and XP you need to know how to reinstall windows properly as well. Insert your Windows CD and boot your computer. Upon startup you will see Press any key to boot from CD.

After clicking you will come to the welcome screen. Press Enter, then press Escape to start a restore. From the menu options select C as your current partition and then l to delete the Windows folder. Enter temp as your user name when prompted. Reboot and you will be logged in as temp.

Next you will restore your personal files. Windows 2000 users should login as temp, then Administrator and then back to temp again. Then navigate to C: Documents and Settings and you will see an Administrator folder and one with Administrator: computername.

From DOS type cd documents and settings and then press Enter. Type xcopy administrator *. * Administrator.computername / s / h / r / c, substituting for computername your folder that was appended to Administrator earlier. Your personal files will be restored.

4. For Both Windows XP and 2000

Windows XP and 2000 users need one extra step to know how to reinstall windows correctly. Create a new folder on your C: drive and label it oldData. Then go to My Documents and Settings and copy all of the folders for each username to oldData.

In Control Panel go to User Accounts and create a new account for each of these users – use their names as spelled out under their Documents and Settings folders. If you're using XP ensure that at least one account has Administrator privileges.

For each user on your computer, log off and log in with that user's name. Then login as Temp and drop down into the DOS command prompt interpreter. Now type

xcopy c: oldData *. * "c: documents and settings" / s / h / r / c

Then press Enter. Go ahead and confirm that you want to overwrite files. When you're done, log off and then login as each user. Each user's Documents and Settings should be restored.

5. Finishing Up

After you install windows you need to install other software too, like drivers and Windows Updates from Microsoft's web site. Check for any graphics drivers that you may need to install from a vendor CD.

Look for all of your old personal files and make sure that they are all there. If not, check the C: oldData folder and move the files to the correct location. Once you are absolutely sure that you have everything you can delete both the oldData folder and the Administrator folder.

Conclusion

It may have come as a surprise to you to learn that you can reinstall windows without having to wipe out your hard drive. With a fresh install of Windows you can restore to your computer the speed and efficiency which it had when you first bought it.

A fresh install will do wonders for your computer's performance and will be better for your system than a simple repair. In order to save your personal files you simply need to create temporary folders as we resulted in this new installation.

What Makes Something the Best in the World?

Anyone who experienced the recent performances put in from Usain Bolt can certainly have no arguments that the Jamaican athlete is the best in the world when it comes to 100 and 200 meters sprinting. However, many people and organizations claim to be the best without necessarily having a way to quantify their claim.

So what really makes something or someone best? According to the Oxford English Dictionary, best when used as an adjective is defined as the most excellent or desirable type of quality or the most suitable, appropriate or sensible. And when used as a noun, best is defined as the most excellent or desirable, the highest standard one can reach or a record performance.

When Angela Smith, the Minister for the Third Sector, said that Britain's charities and voluntary organizations were the best in the world, these specific definitions may or may not have been met but there is certainly an argument that Angela Smiths comments are true based on some impressive facts. Facts including that 73% of UK adults take part in volunteering or that 78% of people give to charity – the highest level of giving in Europe.

The UK voluntary sector may well be the best as they workirelessly to support people, communities and make the national and international environment a better place.

And so what can we all learn from their efforts to become the best in whatever we do? To begin with, people and organizations who are deemed the best seem to share a few key practices and these are determination, a hard work ethic and a belief in what they do. Many people do not necessarily set out to be the best in their field but by having a positive mental attitude and desire to succeed, they can end us as the best. Obviously having a gift like Usain Bolt helps but even those athletes who are competing against him know that even if they can not be the best in the world, they can achieve great things by being the best they can.

Going back to charities, community groups and other voluntary organizations, nobody knows who is really best, but in reality this does not really matter as the work they do is superb and it benefits society and that alone is better than any best tag. Likewise for charities who are searching for charity liability insurance or trust indemnity insurance, who is really the best insurance broker to choose from? Well since they should instead focus on choosing an insurance broker who specializes in charity insurance and who can help them get the protection they need the best possible price.

If you are looking for service providers, focus on what is best for you and there is every chance you will find the best one around.
