Cooking With a Cast Iron Griddle

Cast iron griddles have been in use for centuries and even today they occupy an important place in the modern kitchen. Anyone who has cooked with a cast iron griddle knows that it is one of the best cookware ever invented. It is versatile, affordable and made to last for generations. The griddle is one of the very few items that get better with regular and constant use.

These types of griddles come in all shapes and sizes. They can be round, square or rectangular. You can use them indoors or outdoors. An iron griddle can be used on the stove top, in the oven, on the grill, or over a camp fire. Simple yet versatile, cast iron griddles have stood the test of time and will never go out of fashion.

They are perfect not only for cooking breakfasts but also for preparing the main meal of the day. Whenever you need an even heat for browning and cooking food, a cast iron griddle will get the job done with ease. A well seasoned griddle is perfect of grilling hamburgers, chicken, fish and vegetables. You can also use it for cooking pancakes, eggs, grilled cheese sandwiches, flatbreads, and many more.

Nowadays double sided iron griddles are available in the market. These griddles have two cooking surfaces. One side is ribbed and ideal for grilling steaks, chicken, burgers, etc. The other side is flat and perfect for cooking pancakes, eggs, grilled sandwiches and French toast.

A cast iron griddle that has been seasoned correctly is nonstick. It is a healthier alternative to cookware with nonstick coating. Over time, the toxic nonstick coating in nonstick cookware peels off and mixes with your food. On the other hand, cast iron cookware provides safe, healthy cooking that only gets better with age. Once your griddle has attained that beautiful black hue, you can cook anything in it with confidence that the food will not stick to the pan.

When cooking with your griddle, preheat it with a small amount of oil. To test if it is hot enough, place a few drops of water on the gridle. The water droplets should sizzle and hop around. When cooking anything, always use the minimum amount of heat required.

To care for your griddle, clean it while still fairly hot. Use very hot water and scrub with a stiff brush with non-abrasive bristles. A mild dishwashing detergent may be used to help remove food particles. Dry the griddle completely and coat lightly with oil. If you take good care of your cast iron cookware, it will last for many generations.

Bidets and Sitz Bath Treatments for Hemorrhoid Patients

Hemorrhoid infection is a serious health concern that can help be prevented with bidets and sitz bath treatments. When a person has hemorrhoids or is recovering from hemorrhoid removal it is extra important to keep the rectum and anal opening extremely clean. Harmful bacteria can fester in delicate tissue in and around the anus.

Bacteria can lead to hemorrhoid infection and future medical problems.

Limited mobility, tenderness and discomfort can make it very difficult for a hemorrhoid sufferer to keep that area of the body clean. It is hard to reach the areas that need to be cleaned through the day. After passing bowel movements is when there is the greatest chance for infection to happen.

Passing bowel movements is a normal bodily function we all do, but for hemorrhoid patients it can be painful and opens the door for infection if extra care is not taken. Hemorrhoid medicated wipes are excellent when it comes to cleaning one’s self, but wipes can only sanitize the areas you can reach. Many hemorrhoid doctors recommend patients use bidets and sitz bath treatments to help prevent hemorrhoid infection.

There are different models of bidets available online that can be attached easily to your toilet, used in the shower and ones designed to be portable. They use a controlled stream of water to powerfully yet gently fully clean the lower part of the body that needs extra attention. Using a bidet is not only cleans efficiently, but it solves any limited mobility problems reaching tissue damaged by hemorrhoids. This leaves the area clean and sanitized helping prevent dangerous hemorrhoid infection.

My grandfather has mobility issues due to a past hip surgery and an external hemorrhoid that was removed this month. He is still strong as an ox, but right now he is an ox that cannot move to good. His doctor told him he should install a bidet to his toilet and use one in the shower. He already has railings on his toilet and uses a shower chair. He is very comfortable with helpful devices being attached to his existing bathroom area. My grandfather puts function first and style second.

My grandfather asked me if I could install them for him. The shower bidet was easy as pie, but I was not sure about a bidet for the toilet. I did what most people do and went online to get information on these products. I quickly learned that they are easy to install with an existing toilet. I am okay with tools and being handy around my own house. I was up to adding one of these devices to see how they worked.

My grandfather and I decided on a non-electric mechanical bidet toilet seat attachment. Self-installation was easy. It took me about 20 minutes to install the unit in his home. All accessories came included with this bidet package. It is simple for my grandfather to use. It has kept the most sensitive areas clean and sanitary helping to prevent hemorrhoid infection. It is designed to fit between the toilet seat and rim, transforming any standard household toilet into a bidet.

Enjoying sitz bath treatments is another effective body cleaning option that can safely be done at home to clean and heal hemorrhoid damaged tissue. It is a fantastic healing remedy and pain reliever that is suitable for any type of hemorrhoid stage. Sitz bath treatments allow the whole rectal area to be gently immersed in soothing warm water packed with organic healing ingredients. The stimulation the body gets greatly improves the time it takes for the body to heal. You also cannot beat the clean you get from a sitz bath followed by a stream of water to clean totally off.

Healthcare professionals do not suggest taking a sitz bath in the household bathtub, but instead to use an inexpensive sitz tub. These items are designed with personal health hygiene as their main goal. My grandfather like other hemorrhoid sufferers has to be very careful when it comes to personal hygiene to prevent hemorrhoid infection.

People that have hemorrhoids or are recovering from hemorrhoid treatment need to take extra steps to make sure they are keeping the area clean. Bidets and sitz bath treatments help remove bacteria, dead skin tissue and promote excellent personal hygiene. Both of these body cleaning choices have super benefits for people.

Super Alloy Parts in Aviation

The first successful flights of jet engine-powered airplanes (in World War II, by the German and British military) were made with materials-limited engines of relatively modest performance. As they advanced, jet engines continued to be materials oriented. Nonetheless, examination of materials progress since 1942 shows a spectacular series of developments that permitted uninterrupted increases in temperature and operating stress. The developments were both process- and alloy-oriented, and often a combination of the two. As a result the net 800-lb thrust of the 1942 Whittle engine has risen to the level of 65,000 lb-a factor of 80 in a little over 40 years.

Initially, cobalt-base alloys emerged as the leaders for blade manufacture, while iron-base alloys served for lower temperature requirements, disks, for example. From more or less improved conventional practice, wrought alloys, such as S-816, gave way to the coarse-grained precision-cast cobalt-base alloy parts. Then, industry learned how to control the grain size and structure, designers learned how to live with less-than-desired ductilities, and operating temperatures climbed to 815 °C (1500 °F). Precision casting of super alloy parts, then and now, continue to play a commanding role in the super alloy world.

There were parallel developments in Ni-base systems, the valuable, flexible, and now dominant -y/,y’-strengthened alloys. Here, it took the process development of vacuum metallurgy to make possible the production of strong “high alloy” compositions by controlling the impurity levels. Then still higher alloy contents, leading to greater

strength and temperature potential, were realized through the development of remelting technologies, of which vacuum arc remelting is the most outstanding. These developments required unparalleled efforts by research and development groups to demonstrate and evaluate the roles of alloy composition and structure, to use the benefit of purity levels previously considered unattainable, and to develop advanced techniques to further modify the structures and the chemistries to solve special problems. Ultimately, this led to the exciting developments of directionally solidified and single-crystal blades, the latter reaching engine application only very recently.

Austenitic super alloy parts.

Throughout this period, the concern among metallurgists, designers, and manufacturers was always that the nickel-base and cobalt-base alloys ultimately would have to be replaced with higher-melting alloy systems, the refractory metals. This is hardly surprising when one realizes that increased alloying tends to produce lower-melting alloys; here were alloys being used at higher and higher fractions of their melting temperatures!

At first, major efforts were made with alloys of molybdenum and columbium (niobium). These were without success for the then-planned operating temperatures and anticipated lifetimes, but they may still hold promise for temperatures above about 1100 °C (2000 °F) if suitable coatings can be found. Excellent strength levels were realized and some promising coatings were developed, but expected lifetimes were not realized. Later, chromium-base alloys looked to be a natural, but ultimately were not successful because of brittleness problems.

We must also mention the early trials with cermets, and the first of a series of ceramic-age developments from 1950 onwards, both of which produced interesting solid structures, but still no acceptable applications in the super alloy competition. The austenitic super alloys remained dominant.

With the advent of rapid solidification processing, alloys of still more complexity are being developed and studied, now with the advantage of even closer control over impurity segregation and structure of desired phases. Further, production of superfine grain sizes and structures in the powder metallurgy area makes superplasticity easy to achieve and use. Nominally, cast alloys such as IN-100 and Mar-M 509 are made very strong at low and intermediate temperatures and are easily formable into complex shapes, including near-net-shapes. In the 1960s, who would ever have predicted that IN-100, a casting alloy, could be made to be superplastic and a candidate for disk applications at about 650-700 °C (1200-1300 °F)? Superplastic structures can be expected to have a major impact on super alloy technology.

ODS super alloy parts.

Finally, we are beginning to see significant applications of ODS (oxide-dispersion-strengthened) alloys, again using a blend of processes and alloying techniques developed over the intervening years. Mechanical alloying, and now the use of RS (rapid solidification; fine, fully alloyed powders), will permit use of ODS nickelbase and cobalt-base alloys to temperatures in excess of 1100 °C (2000 °F).

Use at 1100 °C (2000 °F) and above for alloys melting under 1400 °C (2550 °F)? Use in excess of 80% of the absolute melting temperature? Yes, that time has arrived. Even higher fractions of the melting point may be achieved with metalmatrix composites.

In summary, the extremely effective interplay of alloying processes with alloy compositions and structures, coupled with excellent supporting scientific studies of structures, properties, and stability have given the super alloys an engineering position never dreamed of by their early proponents!

Alternative alloys and materials are being sought but have not yet emerged. These new materials are being studied to replace or supercede super alloy parts.

"Rock Am Ring" and "Rock Im Park" Explained

When Marek Lieberberg (company – MLK -Marek Lieberberg Concerts, 51% of MLK were sold to CTS Eventim, Munich a few years ago), Germany's top promoter (born 1946), prepared the first "Rock am Ring" public opinion and the church in Germany as opposition. For over a decade, since the "British Rock Meeting 1972" – also organized by him (about 100,000 fans attended), there were no festivals worth mentioning held in Germany because no venue could be agreed on.

Lieberberg only had the backing of the first manager of the Nürburgring racetrack, in fact, the first "Rock am Ring" was organized to celebrate the opening of a new part of the racetrack. Rock am Ring was originally planned as a one-time festival, but due to its commercial success (75,000 fans), it was decided to make the concert an annual event. The first "Rock am Ring" was headlined by U2, Joe Cocker, Marillion, REO Speedwagon, Saga, The Alarm, Huey Lewis and the News etc.

However, after a dip in attendance for the 1988 event, the festival was put on hiatus for two years. Lieberberg had failed with his eclectic (yes, eclectic – the favorite word of music critics worldwide) approach of mixing too many different music genres together in order to offer something for everyone.

In 1991, the festival returned with a new concept that is being kept up to now.

The first "Rock im Park" took place in Vienna in 1993, it was later moved to Munich but has found its home in Nürnberg in 1997 (easyCredit Stadium, former Frankenstadion home of the 1.FC Nürnberg, and surrounding area).

The "Rock am Ring" (Rock at the Circuit) and "Rock im Park" (Rock in the Park) are now two simultaneously held, about 400 kilometers apart festivals – the "RaR" taking place in the west of Germany, and the "RiP" in the south.

Both festivals are usually regarded as one event with a mostly identical lineup for both festivals. Bands usually perform one day at the Nürburgring and another day in Nürnberg during the three day event.

Together "Rock im Park" and "Rock am Ring" are the largest music festivals in Germany and among the largest in the world with a combined attendance of about 150,000 people. Both are usually sold out months in advance.

Headliners of the 2011 "Rock am Ring" and "Rock im Park" will be System of a Down, Coldplay, Kings of Leon and In Flames. The complete lineup has not been announced yet.

6 Common Garage Door Repair Problems

Garage door repair is something all homeowners have to deal with at some point in time. Understanding the common problems you may face can make it easier to explain the issue to the technician when he or she arrives. It can also help you understand what the service technician is doing to fix the problem.

1. You Push the Button, but It Does not Close

Modern garage door openers have built-in sensors that feel the resistance on the hatch. If there is a broken spring or hinge, then mechanics will not try to pull the chain. In some instances, the opener is the problem. Only a qualified technician can diagnose the issue.

2. You Can Hear the Opener Running, but Nothing Happens

Openers wear out over time, and the gears are usually the first thing to go. If these gears are stripped, they cannot move the chain, which raises and lowers the hatch. In some cases, you can replace the gears. In others, you have no choice but to replace the entire system.

3. You Have a Kick Out Door and Want It Repaired

You may find some technicians who are willing to fix your one-piece door, better known as a kick out. However, as these are outdated systems, they are unsafe. While yours may seem to be in decent working condition, you should have it replaced with a newer, safer model.

4. The Hatch Opens Stiffly and Makes Noise

Noisy garage doors are a common problem. Your garage door repair technician will first replace the rollers in order to solve the problem. Most companies use plastic rollers that wear out. When having them replaced, you should ask for low-resistance rollers. This model works smoother and is lower maintenance than traditional options. They are worth the additional cost.

5. You Have an Old Opener and Want It Replaced

If your opener is not working properly, you may wonder if it has to be replaced. Your garage door repair technician will be able to look at your equipment and make a determination about whether they have the parts needed to fix the problem without replacing the entire unit. However, in the interest of safety, if your old system does not have a safety beam, you need to exchange it for a newer system.

6. The Rollers Are Out of the Track and It’s Pulling the Door

This is actually a very common garage door repair issue. There are several different reasons why this could happen. Your rollers could be so worn out that they work their way out of the track. Sometimes the track itself has been bent or is obstructed by something within the room. Other times, the large springs at the top are broken and cause the panels to pull off track.

One of the most overlooked causes is when you’ve accidentally hit a panel with your vehicle. The damage may look insignificant. However, if left unrepaired, over time it will pull the panel off track. Thankfully, the solution is relatively easy to fix, and it can be repaired.

What Type of Vacuum Cleaner is Best?

A vacuum cleaner is the most effective of cleaning tools; it can also be the more expensive. There are many different types of vacuum with many different features. So before you buy a top rated vacuum cleaner make sure you know what type of vacuum cleaner is best for your needs.

Choosing the best vacuum cleaner can be confusing. To help make things clearer you should know what the different types of vacuum are, what the main features you can find on a vacuum cleaner, and want you type of flooring you will be using a vacuum cleaner on.

There are two main types of vacuum cleaner: upright and cylinder. Both offer advantages and disadvantages. Before deciding if you should by a canister or upright, you should ask yourself a few questions. The following guidelines will help you find the answer.

Upright vacuum cleaners are heavier than cylinder vacuums. An upright vacuum cleaner can be more difficult to manoeuvre and less suited to cleaning small gaps and spaces. If weight is an issue, then you are best off with a canister vacuum. Many uprights come with attachments to help you clean those more hard-to-get-at places. The Oreck XL upright vacuum cleaner is one of the lightest on the market, weighing in at only 8lbs! However, the Oreck doesn’t come with attachments, and you have to wind on the cord by hand. The main advantage of upright vacuum cleaners is suction power. The motor is nearer the vacuum head than a cylinder.

Cylinder vacuum cleaners are easier to use because the motor units tends to be smaller and you can vacuum a large area with the head, without having to move the motor. Most cylinder vacuum cleaners come with attachments that are housed inside them for quick retrieval and put-away. The Electrolux Harmony canister vacuum is an excellent vacuum and has been designed to be ultra quiet.

Both upright and canister vacuum cleaner offer features to make cleaning better, or more convenient, or safer. The following is a list of the main features that come with vacuum cleaners. It should be borne in mind that the more features a vacuum cleaner has, the more expensive it will be.

Power

A vacuum cleaner with powerful suction can depend on many things but the wattage of the motor is a very good indicator of its power. The more Watts a vacuum has, the more powerful it is. A good figure for a cylinder cleaner is around 1400 Watts, and 1300 for an upright.

Bag or Bagless

This seems to be the latest, and most confusing, feature on many vacuum cleaners. Until recently, all vacuum cleaners collected dirt in a bag. However, this changed when Dyson vacuum cleaners came on to the market. The main disadvantage with vacuums that use bags is loss of suction as the bag fills up. A bagless vacuum like the Dyson DC07 upright vacuum cleaner does not use dust bags but induces suction by means of centrifugal force. Vacuums that don’t use bags don’t loose suction power. Bagless vacuum cleaners tend to be more expensive that ones that use bags. Another disadvantage of bagless vacuum cleaners is empty the dust cup. Bagged models can be more hygienic because the dirt and dust is collected in a sealed bag. If you or anyone in your house is asthmatic then it is better to go for a bagged cleaner.

Filtration

When a vacuum sucks up dirt some particles are expelled out the exhaust of the vacuum. The type of filter determines the size and number of particles that are expelled. There are now three types of filters on offer. Standard filtration is now usually found in only low cost vacuum cleaners. If you buy a vacuum cleaner with standard filtration, make sure you look for one with more than one filtration level. S-class and HEPA filters greatly reduce the number and size of particles that are emitted back into the air. These types of filter retain up to 99.97% of dust, down to 0.3 microns (microscopic in size). Allergy sufferers should only consider using HEPA filters. There are now many top rated HEPA vacuum cleaners, the Eureka 3684D canister vacuum being one of the best.

Other Types of Vacuum Cleaners

There are many other types of vacuum cleaners offering specialized cleaning capabilities. Stick vacuum cleaner are light weight and meant for small cleaning jobs and are great for high area such as the tops of curtains. Handheld vacuum cleaners are also meant for clearing up spills and typically come with a wall mounting and charging unit.

Steam vacuum cleaners use steam to lift out dirt from carpets. These are very effective in getting out ground in dirt. They are not that difficult to use and a good quality steam vacuum like the Hoover SteamVac should leave the carpet dry to the touch after use. Finally, Wet and Dry vacuum cleaners are versatile units. They can be used in dry mode exactly like their more common counterparts. But they can also be used to clean your carpet with water and carpet shampoo, leaving your carpet clean and sweet smelling. The Eureka InstaRinse Cleaning System is an excellent wet to dry vacuum.

Deciding on what vacuum cleaner is best is first deciding on what your requirement are. There are many excellent vacuum cleaners on the market from companies like Hoover, Dyson, Eureka and Electrolux. All these companies – and others – make ‘the best vacuum’, but whether it is the best vacuum cleaner for cleaning your carpets, depends on your exact requirements.

Women's Weight Lifting Phobia

I've noticed that a lot of the women I've trained with over the years suffer from weight lifting phobia. By that I mean that they tend to be overly concerned with developing muscularity, as if itís a bad thing. I guess a lot of women are under the misconception that the development of muscle is simple and happens overnight. The truth is that muscular development takes a combination of discipline, proper food intake, and training, and to develop huge muscles takes genetics or supplementation most of the time. The truth is that everyone can benefit from resistance training of some type, whether it's free weights (dumbbells or barbells) or exercise bands. Not only does a toned physique help protect your skeletal frame and increase your resilience to injury, but it also increases your metabolism.

I guess I take off that some people think musculature comes quickly and easily. I have heard more than once, "I do not want to look like Arnold," and just let me say that this is not possible for a woman. Many of the female clients Iíve trained shy away from resistance training in the beginning for this very reason, when in reality looking "like Arnold" will probably never happen, at least not naturally! So my point is please do not be afraid to participate in a resistance-training program for fear of developing too much muscularity. I have even heard this from obese women! I'm definitely not trying to offend anyone out there, only to put your minds at ease. So donít shy away from the weights, instead give them a try before you rule them out.

When engaging in a weight-training program, you should push yourself provided that you are injury free and have consulted your physician before getting started. For increasing strength as well as toning, I usually suggest training somewhere in the eight to fifteen repetition range per set. That means that if the weight is so light that you can pump out 40 reps without batting an eye, then the weight is probably too light. You should feel fatigued by the end of a set, provided that the weight is heavy enough.

So take a good look at your training regimen, and ask yourself if you suffer from "Arnold phobia." If so, rest assured that this muscular metamorphosis will not happen, and just get out there and push yourself. If you are in good health, there is no reason to baby yourself, you should be sweating by the time you are done working out. Granted, it's fantastic that you exercise at all regardless of the intensity, but you will be doing yourself a favor and getting the most out of your workouts if you put 100% into them. So what are you waiting for, give this a try for a couple weeks and see if you do not notice a difference!

5 Ways To Make Money From Home in 2018

If you want to make money from home pay close attention. In this article I’m going to give you 5 ways you could be getting paid on the internet in 2018.

Have you noticed that in 2017 the term “side hustle” became very popular?

I recently read an article that said over 50% of the workforce in the United States has some sort of “side hustle” that they use to supplement their income.

With that many people looking to do something on the side, you have to admit that the cost of living is growing faster than the minimum wage.

So let’s go over a few of the ways that you could be earning money from home in 2018.

#1: Become a Social Media Manager

Social Media Managers have become really popular since the explosion of social media over the last decade.

A social media manager is exactly that; a manager.

So if you were to become a social media manager your job would entail sending/receiving friend requests, posting multiple times per day, engaging and reading incoming comments, etc.

You’d think that this is something that anyone could do, but there are many successful entrepreneurs and business owners out there that are gladly willing to pay someone to handle these mundane tasks on their behalf.

If you think you are proficient on social media maybe this is just the side gig for you?

#2: Learn How to Trade Forex and Cryptocurrency

It amazes me how few people have even heard of Forex. Forex is an acronym for Foreign Exchange.

With Forex you are buying and selling currencies just like people buy and sell commodities like corn, coffee, and orange juice.

This is an invaluable skill to learn because when you have it, you can write your own paycheck. Just keep in mind that this is considered the same as gambling in the eyes of Uncle Sam, so you will have to pay some hefty capital gains taxes on anything that you pull in.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are not only something that you buy and hold. You can actually trade cryptocurrencies as well.

#3: Join a Network Marketing Company

Although network marketing companies tend to get a bad rap, most people are oblivious to the fact that network marketing is a 100+ billion dollar per year industry.

More money per year is generated from network marketing than from all of the professional sports in the United States each year, combined!

A network marketing company gives you the chance to become the CEO of your own organization from day number one.

In Corporate America you typically start off at the bottom of the ladder and are forced to work your way up. In Network Marketing, you start of at the top of your organization, but you’re responsible for building and training a team of independent sales representatives who have common goals.

#4: Get Started With e-Commerce

You can also get involved with e-Commerce. You know, things like eBay, Amazon, and even Shopify.

This is where you have yourself a virtual business. You can sell virtually anything that you can muster up from your imagination.

Dropshipping is also a big part of successful e-Commerce selling. Otherwise you’ll need your own products to sell and most people don’t have that.

e-Commerce is a great way to make money working from home if you’re not really a people person and you’re not cut out for the sales life.

#5: Get Involved in Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is all about selling other people’s products/services.

Virtually every company known to man has an affiliate program of some sort these days. For example, if you refer someone to Time Warner, they will pay you.

By simply sharing products and services that you use every day you can earn a percentage each and every time someone makes a purchase from your individual affiliate link.

Which One Of These Methods Are Best?

While all of the above methods are great, there really isn’t one that’s “best” per se. However, if you plan on making money from home on your computer you’re going to need to receive the proper training. Otherwise it could realistically take years for you to learn and become a master of online marketing.

The Master Key to Success

What is the key to success? To become successful in any area of your life you will need to take action. The very thought of doing something out of the ordinary can seem very daunting to a lot of us, but once the wheels have been set in motion the journey to achieving what you want gets easier and easier.

'You do not have to see the whole staircase – just take the first step.

Martin Luther King.

A Friend of mine has just launched a new business idea in a very short space of time. When I asked him about how he did this, he replied 'it was very easy, I came to realize that if I was to speak with 5 people a day about my business opportunity, then that would be 150 people in a month. And if I was to contact 150 people, then the law of rates will surely give me somebody who would take an interest '.

The problem for him was actually taking the first step, he really had to push himself to get on the phone. Every time he went to make a call he had this really uncomfortable feeling in his stomach and his inner voice would try and talk him out of making the call by trying to convince him that the other person could not possibly take an interest in his business opportunity . In the end he got to the point where he said to himself 'enough is enough' (or words to that effect) pushed through the bad feeling and took action. He then found that as the days passed, the feeling of discomfort was easing more and more and making the calls was getting easier and easier.

The key to his success was that he took action every single day until he reached his goal!

When you take action every day towards what you want, it gets easier and easier to take more action the next day, and the next day and so on and on and on … for instance you would not get up in the morning, get to work and then realize that you are butt naked would you? .. of course not! The reason for this is down to the fact that you have been practicing getting dressed before leaving the house for years and it has become habit.

I am always doing things what I can not do – that's how I get to do them '

Pablo Picasso

If you can apply this behavior to reaching your goals you will be able to master the 'action habit'. Try this … Write down your BIG goals and stick them in a place where you can see them like on your computer monitor or fridge. Take at least 1 action each day which gets you closer to achieving those goals. By doing at least 1 action each day you will create an unstoppable momentum, making it easier and easier to move in the direction you want which in turn will give you the master key to success.

Tips for Priming Walls Before Applying Paint

Before you paint your walls, it is strongly encouraged by all veteran drywall painters to prime first. Wall priming may seem like a tedious and unnecessary step, but you will find that it is very worthwhile in the end. Even if you have a non-significant area to paint, like a closet or pantry, priming first will make a huge difference, and you will be happy that you did. Continue reading to learn some helpful tips that will make priming an easier job than you’d expect.

Why Prime?

There is a good reason to prime your walls before painting them. Primer is a sealant, which provides a preparatory coating for your paint. Primer promotes better adhesion of paint, increases paint durability and longevity, and protects the drywall. Although you can purchase self-priming wall paint, it is recommended to use two separate products for the best results.

What You Will Need

To prepare your walls for painting, you need the right supplies. Never try to take short cuts when priming and painting. It is important to not skimp out on quality as well. Although you do not need the finest products to achieve a professional-looking result, you do need to use good brands and durable tools.

To get started, visit your local home improvement store and add these items to your shopping cart:

  • Paint Brush
  • Paint Pail
  • Paint Pail Liner
  • Roller Tray
  • Roller Tray Liner
  • Paint Roller
  • Roller Cover
  • Drop Cloth
  • Primer
  • Sanding Sponge
  • Extension Pole

*Don’t forget the actual paint for when you’re done prepping!

Application Tips

Always be sure to prepare the surrounding area for a painting project by covering up carpet, floors, furniture, and appliances with tarps. This step also includes taping up baseboards, crown molding, wainscoting, and more. Once your surroundings are protected, you can get to work without concern for your personal possessions.

When dipping your paint brush into the primer, try to wipe the excess product off on the sides of the pail. You do not want to apply primer when your brush is dripping. When it is time to apply the product to the wall, start with edges first. Create a border around the edges and corners of the walls where the roller will not be able to reach.

For reliable results, always apply at least 2 coats of primer. For new construction drywall, one coat is acceptable, but two coats is the standard. For darker colored walls, you may need one or two extra coats if you are painting with a lighter color paint afterwards.

Be sure to lightly sand your walls after the primer has finished drying completely. Then use a tack cloth to wipe off all the excess dust. Do this step before painting, and you will have a smooth, even finish when you are done.

Trading the Decline in Commodity Prices and Volatility

The commodity markets were designed for commodity producers and commodity end line consumers to limit the volatility and risk in their business models. Producers are only willing to keep producing when they can sell their production at a profit and end line commodity processors are only willing to buy them if they can realize a profit upon selling the goods they've finished. The creation of commodity trading floors provided a singular location for these transactions to be recorded along standard times and qualities. Unfortunately, commodity producers only want to sell at high prices and commodity consumers only want to buy at low prices. This created the market makers, floor traders and speculator categories that have come into the markets to provide liquidity by providing bids and offers in between the producers and end users. This week, we focus on the creation of the commodity indexes and Exchange Traded Funds created by the banking sector and what effect the current period of low volatility and declining prices is having on the very banks that created them.

The evolution of the markets created an expanding network of commodity related jobs through the personnel required to run the trading firms and direct the standardization of commodity contracts, storage and processing. The off exchange businesses like the storage, shipping and financing sectors had always been seen as ancillary to the primary purpose of ensuring raw material availability to the end line users. Following the tragic events of September 11th the US Federal Reserve board began adopting easy financing terms to just about anyone. The cheap money made it more favorable to borrow the money and build a commodity storage facility to either fill yourself or to rent space as storage for others. This process was partially responsible for the commodity rally of 2008. The ensuing 6 years of sideways to lower price action coupled with forecasts of growing supplies on the horizon has crashed the profitability of this model and is now contributing to the commodity slip just as it did the price spike of '08.

The two commodity sectors that took the most heat during this period were the grain and energy markets. Food and fuel, life is sometimes that simple. These are also some of the easiest markets in which to hoard the physical commodity itself. The large commodity companies like ADM, Cargill and Monsanto took a ton of heat from the public at large for what was essentially business as normal (albeit at higher prices) practices. However, the JP Morgan's, Deutsche Bank, UBS, Morgan Stanley, Barclay's etc used their banking experience to tap into the commodity revenue stream. Originally, they participate indirectly through a practice of swapping physical for future risk of the underlying commodity and acting as the middlemen in the brokerage process. Many of these firms took it to the next level as they became involved in physically holding and distributing commodities across the globe as the start up financing became a negligible cost of doing physical business in a Zero interest rate world.

The wild volatility, cheap interest rates and generally high commodity prices attracted more players than ever into the commodity markets. It became the party no one wanted to miss. It appears as though its last call for many of these late comers and they're quickly scrambling out the door as the lack of inflation, lower commodity prices in general and increased regulation suck the profitability out of this once low hanging fruit. Currently, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Chase and Bank of America are all curtailing their commodity interests or exiting the sector completely amidst Tougher regulations and slow, declining markets. According to Bloomberg, commodity related profit for the top ten banks in 2013 was around $ 4.5 billion compared to the high water mark of $ 14.1 billion in 2008.

We've posted several charts to illustrate this point as well as the true commercial traders' effectiveness in trading in the current climate. The commodity markets are returning to their previous mode of trading which should benefit the true commodity traders quite a bit and leave the outgoing banks with time to lick their wounds before they miss the next big rally in the commodity markets.

One of the primary business models the banking sector introduced to commodities was the ETF (Exchange Traded Fund). ETF's like COW (Cattle) and OIL (Oil) were designed to keep banking clients within the firm rather than letting them participate directly in the commodity markets through a commodity broker of the customers' own choosing. More specifically, the banking sector created non margined, long only index funds that consumers assumed would have liked the commodity they were built to track. Not only do most of these funds fail to track their underlying counterparts all that closely but they block the customer from the two primary advantages of exchange traded futures. First of all, commodity futures utilize margin. This allows a market participant to put up a fraction of the face value of the contract while using their excess cash as operating currency. Secondly, the ETF's do not allow short positions, which effectively eliminate 50% of the opportunities to profit. The end result is that the banks place margin with the exchange while lending out the customers' excess reserves. Finally, the bank takes the other side of the clients' trades creating the bank's own short position as the market falls and clients exit the market.

I apologize for the long-winded and basic nature of the opening but it's must have background to discuss the current state of the markets. Referring back to the six charts we've posted you can see a general cross section of the economy as a whole. We've posted crude oil, copper, soybeans, corn, gold and 10-year Treasury Notes which have all traded sideways to lower and done so with a general stability and absence of chop. These are the charts that the news is referring to when it talks about the, "decline in commodity volatility." Furthermore, theirlining prices have cut the profit potential of the storage facilities bought or built by the big banks. All and all, the markets fairly orderly and deflationary trading has ruined many of the big banks' commodity business models.

Our business is commodity trading. It started more than 150 years ago when the first Waldock's came over from Herfordshire, England as hog farmers. Our trading philosophy has always been an attempt to ascertained the true value of something using whatever tools were made available to us at the time. My grandfather used to tour the country East of the Mississippi with a briefcase full of cash and a gigantic pistol (at least it was gigantic as a kid) and delivered each of his buys in person. My father used ticker tape and hotlines to establish prices across different regions of the country. Now, I use the Commitment of Traders Reports along with a neural network to determine not only the size of the commercial traders' actions but also their eagerness to act at given price levels.

This brings us to the recent sell-off in commodity prices and the exiting of the commodity markets by many of the world's largest banks. Referring to back to the charts, commercial trader momentum is the bottom histogram. Red is negative and blue is positive. It's clear that the major market sell-off is placing these markets within the value area of commercial long hedgers. The typical pattern is for commercial long hedgers to continue to buy as the raw material input costs fall to expand the profitability of future finished goods production. Looking at the charts tell us that refiners are stocking up on crude oil below $ 98 per barrel, soybeans and corn below $ 12 and $ 4.50 per bushel respectably and copper below $ 3.15 per pound and finally gold below $ 1,300 per ounce. The decline in prices coupled with a corresponding decline in volatility across multiple sectors – grains, basic materials, precious metals and energy paints a very solid picture of range bound markets for the expected future.

These types of range bound, ebb and flow type markets that are increasingly absent of index and speculative trading respond exceptionally well well to the negative feedback model that commercial traders typically employ. This means that the farther out of balance a market falls, the more the commercial hedger (long or short) will add to their position as they make appropriate production estimates of their firm into the future at the market's new price levels. This can clearly be seen on the charts as short-term market movement continues to press the market in one direction; you can see the commercial position grow in a nearly equal and definitely opposite direction. This is also called, "mean reversion trading." The market's rallies are sold and Declines are bought based on the anticipation that the market will return to recent levels to provide us with a profit.

The commodity market decline in price and volatility had to occur simply because the legislation of easy money forced the market to find a loophole to exploit for excess returns. That loophole became the swaps, storage and distribution capabilities in the commodity sector. In many ways, the general business of the last ten years has been very similar to one long trend trade. Those who were in early obviously had the greatest ability to profit, meanwhile, those who stayed late find themselves competitive for profits at the expense of decreasing margins and increasing regulation, not to mention higher interest rates on the horizon. I'm proud of the value based trading style we've developed over the years and grateful for the ancestry that has always tailed me that the market is always right.

Commercial Insurance – Deal With a Company That Caters to Your Needs

This type of insurance coverage applies to a group involved in a commercial venture. Their services meet the requirements of commercial trucks, fleet cars and tow trucks. Commercial insurance companies offer a range of policies that allows a business to have their insurance needs tailored to fit their specific needs. With these companies having such a wide scope of acceptance, they are sure to be able to offer coverage for almost every driver and business no matter what the vehicle model.

The commercial truck insurance policies can also be customized to best serve a drivers needs such as facilities like 24/7 claims service, flexible payment schemes and even discounts. These truck and trailer policies will cover everything from:

• Front loaders
• Garbage trucks
• Flatbed trucks
• Box trucks
• Pick ups
• Dump trucks

They will also offer assistance for:

Truck Insurance Filing. This is very important especially when you need to show proof that the insurance coverage you own is sufficient for the vehicle you operate.

Federal Insurance Filing. This applies to businesses involved with hazardous cargoes, for hire trucking and interstate trucking. An example of this would be, if your company does specialist, long haul or regional trucking. If the goods you are hauling are non-exempt and move across state lines then for-hire truckers would also need a federal filing.

Businesses that never cross a state line or engage in intrastate trucking do not require federal filing. Private haulers carrying their own goods like farmers, retailers and manufacturers or those hauling goods under someone else's authority like a truck owner leased to another carrier are considered unregulated and as such do not need to have federal or state registration.

Apart from the trucking authority, there may be other reasons a business may be required to show proof of insurance. Those that use over-sized vehicles or drivers with only a probationary license may require either a non-trucking filing or a certificate of insurance.

If your business is involved in the movement of hazardous cargoes or passengers it may well serve you better to go to a specialized insurance company.

These insurance companies deal with hundreds of questions every day of the week, below are a couple of the more common ones with the answers.

• What type of cover should my business have? Given that different businesses have different needs, it's a wise choice to choose a company that can tailor a policy that will cover all your needs.

• Does my business really need commercial auto insurance? Most businesses are required to have commercial vehicle insurance. Take the freelance rep using their own car to get their goods to customers- they would not need a commercial insurance coverage, an ordinary personal insurance would suffice.

• Do all commercial insurers cover all vehicles and businesses? The answer is no, some companies make exclusions on what they will and will not cover. This is why it's always better to try and find a company that deals with your type of hauling needs.

Amcor PLM Series Portable Air Conditioners – A Breath of Fresh Air For The Modern Home

At the very start of the summer, in the middle of a boiling hot day or sticky, humid night, you’re probably not going to mind too much what your air conditioner looks like, just so long as it keeps on oozing out those streams of cool, relaxing breeze.

Who cares if it’s a bulky, ugly box with an industrial type grill and a blocky frame that resembles a reject from an episode of Scrapheap Challenge? Just keep on breezing!

Well, that’s all true at first, but after a few days of enjoying the refreshing, energizing benefits of a portable air conditioner, you’ll probably start to think of it as a semi-permanent fixture in your home or office over the hot summer months.

And that’s when having a portable air conditioner that’s been designed with style and elegance will really make a difference and can even become a design enhancement to your home.

Introducing Amcor’s cutting edge PLM12KE and PLM15KE

Amcor’s PLM15KE and PLM12KE are the cornerstones of the US manufacturer’s ground breaking PLM Series – a range of portable air conditioners that were created with equal emphasis on form and function.

Just for the record, the key difference between the PLM12KE and PLM15KE is that the former runs at 12000 BTUs (British Thermal Units) per hour and the latter at 15000. That’s not a huge gap but the extra power of the PLM15KE will be noticed in larger spaces (450-500 square feet).

The concept behind the PLM range was to bring the portable air conditioner into the digital age with a ‘Plasma’ style design that is undeniably sleek and stylish – especially so when compared with the aesthetics of the majority of mobile air con units on the market.

What are the main aspects of the design that give the PLM12KE and PLM15KE their stylish edge? Let’s break them down:

– Chic and sleek casing: the shell of the PLM series portable air conditioners is tall with smooth cut edges, a slight shimmer effect coating and a predominantly flat surface which creates a sense of simplicity and style

– Backlit digital display: The LCD readout on the PLM12KE and PLM 15KE air con units manages to be both an attractive centerpiece and very easy to use, thanks to its blue backlight and soft touch electronic controls

– Top mounted grill: The vent is positioned on the top so it’s not staring in your face, and it’s adjustable too to allow greater control over air flow

– Programmable remote: The functions of PLM12KE and PLM15KE can all be operated via a thin and unobtrusive remote control which also features an easy to read LCD display.

However, they do say it’s what’s inside that counts so it’s definitely worth covering the main technical aspects of the PLM12KE and PLM15KE to demonstrate that Amcor really has combined style with substance in the PLM Series.

Using File Compression Programs to Speed Up Your Communications

If you spend a lot of time downloading information online opportunities are you have come across a zip file or two in your time. File compression programs are a great invention. They save users time, especially if they have an internet connection that is a little on the slow side and they also save a lot of precious hard drive space.

File compression programs operate in very simple, yet fiendishly clever way. Many types of computer files contain a lot information that is actually fairly redundant. The same information is repeated over and over again, yet serves no real purpose. So instead wasting all that space, a file compressor lists it just once, and then refers back to it whenever necessary.

Many different files can be compressed, but the tool is especially useful for image files, which can be huge in size. By using the zip technique hundreds of images can be down loaded in just a few seconds, as compared to the hours it might normally take.

Of course, zip files can be great for uploading information too. You can take a number of different data files, zip them all up easily and then upload them in seconds rather than hours. This makes for easy file sharing too, as an email containing a zip file is far easier to send than one containing dozens of different files.

Finding a good file compression software program is not that hard, as there are many available that are typically quite inexpensive. Some are a little more complicated than others, so finding one that is user friendly as well as efficient is a must for those who are not computer programmers (and how many of us are?)

Storing your files in zip format on your computer hard drive saves precious disc space too, and all your original content will still be securely stored and available for immediate access.
