The 8-Step SEO Content Marketing Action Plan

In today's digital world, online content is doing the heavy lifting that in the past was accomplished only with sales teams, cold calling, advertising, business networking events, and public speaking gigs. With strategically designed and published content, you can be in many places at once, influencing people and driving sales year after year, without actually being present or doing the work over and over again.

Business owners of the past would be passionately envious of the amount of leverage the internet has given us to cast so much influence, so far and wide, in such little time. The key is to have a strategy. And while engineering an all-encompassing strategy takes time and fortitude, the seven tips below will give you the insight you need to get your plan off on the right foot.

Step # 1: Nail Down Your Specific Marketing Niche

This may sound elementary – but I've found that most clients I work with are really selling themselves short when it comes to identifying their target audience. There are often more groups of people that are target audience candidates than business owners realize. Ask yourself these questions:

1. What other types of businesses could make money or gain clout by offering the solutions I provide to their customers?

2. What kind of tutorial information can I share with fledgling businesses in my own niche? (Publishing content that actually helps your young competition can position you as a leader in your industry).

Identifying your organization's particular targeted demographic is an important step for any sale initiative, but it's uber-critical during any online campaign. Remember, the copy that you deliver has to immediately pique the interest of those that receive it. The best way to ensure this happens is to deliver your message to your most relevant audience.

Step # 2: Identify and Sharpen Your Key Talking Points

There are probably hundreds of things that you have experience with that you can write about. However, your goal is to become an authority on specific things rather than a "Jack of All Trades." Spend some time listing out three to five main content talking "containers" that you will focus on and write about. By "container" I mean narrow category. For example, our company does all types of content marketing from newsletters, to articles, to web content, to press releases. Each of these is a niche category. However, a large majority of content marketing is focused on SEO press releases. Within this "container" we address many specific issues from writing headlines, to writing quotes, to analyzing the best time to publish.

Which 3 to 5 areas of your business do you excel at and can you carve out a niche as an authority?

Step # 3: Publish Authority Content In Numerous Places, in Numerous Formats

Publishing content only on your website or blog gives you limited exposure. Your goal is to be "everywhere" – to leverage the exposure and communities of other content portals to reach new audiences. There are so many places to publish your content and a variety of formats in which to publish it. A few of my favorites are:

• Biznik, IdeaMarketers, Evan Carmichael (publishing articles)

• Hubpages: Add video, images, and other multimedia to your articles to turn them into complete "how to" resources

• Online PR Media (press releases)

• Slideshare (slideshows)

• Scribd, Docstoc, PDFcast (PDFs)

• YouTube (videos or screencasts)

• Guest blog posts

• Trade journals and magazines

It may seem daunting to create so much content for so many places. However, a single piece of content can be published in multiple ways. For example, a large 'how to' tutorial published on Hubpages can be trimmed down for a smaller article, then converted into a PDF. You can take the main points from that article and put it into a slideshow format. You can then create a video screencast where you narrate your slideshow and publish it on YouTube.

Step # 4: Create Your Business' Email Subscriber List

For years we resistant building an email list … I suspect we're not the only ones. We were afraid to "bother" people with emails – but we could not have been more wrong. In one year, we built our Online PR Media email subscriber list to more than 20,000 and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. When you provide valuable content to an already interested audience, it can do wonders for brand and loyalty building. Plus, when you have a new product or service, you have a direct access to people who have already expressed that they like what you have to offer.

Some ways to boost your subscriber list:

1. Offer a valuable free download in exchange for joining your list. This might be an informational ebook, checklist, how-to, case study – or anything else that will help your target audience achieve its goals.

2. * VALUABLE TIP * Use an email parser to automatically add emails to your list whenever someone goes through your checkout process or sign up process. The parser automatically "triggers" the double opt-in process when someone enters their info (meaning, they still need to double opt-in by verifying the email). Applying AWeber's email parser has been the single most influential way that we have built our list to it's current size.

Step # 5: Coordinate A Social Media And SEO Strategy

Social media has long since proved itself more than a passing fad. If you have not yet created a social media strategy, it's time to start. Open a Twitter account, gather up your staff and start brainstorming consistent Facebook post ideas to keep your biz firmly on the social media horizon. It's a great way to strengthen your already existing search engine optimization approach and can instantly boost your online visibility.

Think back to step # 1 and consider your target audience. Instead of only crafting messages to customers, craft content toward those "peer" companies that you can partner with. Seek out and communicate with journalists that write in your niche or that could leverage your knowledge for their stories and publications.

Look back to step # 2 and create tweets and messages in advance around your core topic areas. One of your goals is to be a "content curator" on the areas where you are an expert. This means not only sharing your content on the topic, but from others as well. Social media is a two-way street. Create content that opens dialog. Create content that praises people that deserve praise and recognition. Apply the real world rules of social networking to the online realm and you may just discover more opportunity than you ever imagined.

Step # 6: Implement A Calendar For Your Content Marketing

Deciding to put together a plan of action for your new promotional endeavor is great – but it's imperative to ensure that your ideas actually get implemented! Put together an editorial calendar / agenda that will outline a step by step plan of who, what, and when to ensure that nothing slips through the cracks.

This requires discipline … Although we are a content development company, we often get so focused on customers that we lack time to publish our own content regularly. During the times that we have an editorial calendar, our content creation productivity is astronomically higher then we do not. If you have to, assign someone on your team to manage your content development plan. Give them the authority to bug you and to do whatever it takes to get the job done!

Step # 7: Stay Visible With Your Targeted Demographic

All too often, business owners have a ton of great, informative content to distribute during the first round of the campaign, only to find themselves struggling for things to blog about, to write newsletters about, or to Tweet and Facebook about. It's critical to stay on top of news and info in your industry and to keep your finger on the pulse of your target audience so that you do have things to write about.

As a busy business owner, this can be very time consuming. You may be thinking … "Yeah right! I do not have the time for that!" There are a few tips you can implement to make this process more manageable:

1. Use an RSS feed reader to pull in a list of industry blogs and journals to browse through a daily or weekly basis.

2. Search through Twitter using keywords to discover new ideas and conversations on your niche topics.

3. If you do not have time or you're finding that you're not doing this on at least a weekly basis, you may want to hire someone to go through information for you and pass along what they feel are the most important bits of info.

Step # 8: Monitor And Analyze Results Yielded For Optimal Success

Finally, as with any advertorial indemnifier, it's paramount to always carefully analyze and monitor results delivered from your campaign. Procure an analytics application / tool that will help outline volume and source of visitors as they navigate through your copy from initial click all the way through to conversion. Having a system in place to effect gauge results is the only way to really know what's working and what needs tweaking.

Consider implementing a "how did you hear about us" field on your checkout form. When people write or call, make it a practice to ask how specifically they learned about you. This can be an uncomfortable question to ask sometimes, but the answers may fascinate you. They will give you insight as to what is working so that you can place more effort in those areas.

I understand that for the busy business owner this can seem daunting. Do not hesitate to outsource some of the work to your team or to an assistant or to a company that develops content. You can have someone write "core" content and then add your own flair and deep-expert knowledge. You can hire a virtual assistant to actually submit the content once you've created it. The most important thing is to establish a plan and get started!

Pros and Cons of Carpet Cleaning Services Available Today

Enlisting the services of a professional carpet cleaning company will extend the life of your carpets resulting in significant savings over time. Carpets are one of the main features in our homes and over time collect all kinds of dirt and grime. You could replace them, but at what cost? Or, you can hire professional carpet cleaning services. There are three main types of carpet cleaning methods on offer, each with their own advantages and disadvantages so I'm going to tell you what these are so you can make an informed choice.

I'm the father of two young children and I will never understand how they manage to attract so much muck and dirt. And, of course, this inevitably finds its way into our carpets. Regular vacuum cleansing only does so much to keep them clean and does absolutely nothing for those stains. Every now and then it's nice to bring them back to nearly new looking condition. Not only will this improve the aesthetics of your home but the knock-on effects are longer carpet life which is quite a huge saving!

Having run a very successful carpet cleaning business for the last 10 years, I've seen (and cleaned) a lot of carpets! Some of which probably should have been thrown away. I've seen advances in the technology, the machines, and the chemical products used in the carpet cleaning industry. They have made the whole process of refurbishing carpets a lot quicker, cheaper, and with better results. The satisfaction I get from a job well done makes my job worth-while. There are quite a few different carpet cleaning services and solutions on the market but here is an overview of the three main types, and their advantages or disadvantages, this should give you a good idea as to which one is best for you and your own personal situation.

Dry Cleaning Methods – there are a couple of variations but they all effectively do the same thing, only in different ways. The advantage is that your carpets will dry quicker so you can get back to using the space much more quickly. The problem is that the chemicals used are generally, not very eco-friendly. This is changing but we are not quite there yet. The main disadvantage is that this method does not get deep into the carpet and is more suitable for short-pile carpets rather that deep-pile. This would be a good option for commercial type carpets but for domestic carpets you might want to look at alternatives.

Bonnet Cleaning – this method uses a machine similar to a floor polisher where the carpet is lightly misted with cleaning solution and then the dirt is lifted using a rubbing action. Again, this does not get deep into carpets so is generally only effective on short pile carpets.

Hot Water Extraction – also known as steam cleaning (This is my favorite method and my personal choice), it gets deep down into your carpet giving better and longerer results. The machines used today are much gentler on your carpets than any other method and there are outstanding eco-friendly solutions available for use. The one drawback of this method is that it takes longer to dry out after the process is complete so you will not be able to walk on your carpets for at least 24 hours.

To be honest, all of these methods produce outstanding results when transported out correctly but my personal recommendation is the Hot Water Extraction method. The reason being that it gets such a deep clean that dirt and grime, unreached by the other methods, remains and ever surfaces again, tarnishing the look of your carpets. Steam cleaning may take longer to dry but the results last longer, meaning you do not have to go through the process as repeatedly.

So, if you're looking for a quick result I would recommend the dry cleaning methods but if you are looking for a thorough clean, that lasts, it's well worth the extra to go for the hot water extraction. For homes, it's almost always steam cleaning but if you're looking to clean the carpets in your office it would be a good idea to go for the dry cleaning methods as it's rare to be able to close an office for 24 hours while the carpets dry.

7 Powerful Tools to Attract Perfect Clients

Who is your perfect client?

What does he or she value? How much money does he or she want to spend? Where does your client go on vacation? How easy is it for your client to make a decision?

As you clarify your vision of your perfect client, you set an intention for these people to find you. You stop and invite perfect clients into your life. You do not have to figure out how they will find you.

When you become very clear on something that you want, is not it easier to find it? Let's say you want a new computer. How much do you want to spend? What does it need to do? How much memory do you need? How fast should it operate? Does it need to be networked to other computers or your printer? If you are not specific, you know the wide range of products that can come in the door. When you become very clear – your next home, your next car, your next vacation, your next pet – the right choices will come to you in a much easier fashion. You will find it easier to recognize the right choices because you are clear on what you want.

Power tool to attract clients # 1: Focus on a client that you really like. Focus on a client for what you could do no wrong. List the attributes of that client.

Power tool to attract clients # 2: Seriously representative letting go of clients who are taking your energy. You know the clients I am talking about. You would rather clean the toilet than hang out with these clients. You see the caller ID and you run. These are the clients you need to release.

Power tool to attract clients # 3: Become even more clear on the clients you seek – perhaps you sell web site design. Your perfect client seeks a dozen sites designed over the next year and has venture funding to pay you well. He or she wants to give you a lot of freedom, responsibility, pay and respect. That sounds like a great client to me.

Power tool to attract clients # 4: Stop looking so hard. Tell all your friends. Tell your relatives. In real estate and MLM businesses, this is called communicating with your sphere of influence. Your haircutter, your mailman. You have no idea if people would love, honor and respect your services if they have no idea you provide those services. Do not close off opportunity by neglecting to share what you are looking for with people you see every day.

Power tool to attract clients # 5: Dream about clients calling you out of the blue. This is a funny one, most people can not really do it. Have a daydream moment where you picture someone showing up in your life, needing your services. Here is an example that happened for me recently. I flew to Seattle to attend a power workshop. My intention was to enjoy the workshop and learn a ton. The night before the workshop, I went to a VIP party and landed two writing gigs that I was not seeking. Just chatting about perfect clients attracted them to me, without even trying.

Power tool to attract clients # 6: Be open to new opportunities. Do not be surprised, with this mindset, if your gardener sends you a perfect client. It's crazy what can happen when you open your mind.

Power tool to attract clients # 7: Be that which you are seeking. This will help you attract more excellence. The Law of Attraction says like attract like. So what are you like? Do you make decisions easily? Do you stress and analyze forever? As long as you like clients like that, no problem. If you want a change, change yourself.

Who is your perfect client? Is he or she someone who:

o needs your product or service

o will refer your business to many clients a lot like them

o makes decisions easily

o pays for your service on time and with ease

o is friendly and easy to work with

o communicates clearly and lets you know how you can help them

Stop everything you are doing now and grab a pencil or pen.
Write a list of your perfect client attributes. Do not worry if you are busy, or if you are not sure really why you need to list what is perfect. You are most likely able to come up with a dozen reasons to not do this right this moment, but do it anyway. Stop and list what would be incredible, awesome, inspiring and true in your favorite customers. What do you want to see? Picture it now.

Are you done yet? No, not yet!

Now that you have a list of at least 10 attributes of your perfect client, let's take this a step further. Picture feelings of excitement, joy, and delight when this person or people come into your life. Picture yourself knowing with certainty that you are meeting all of the right people, all of your perfect clients, right now. Imagine these clients were always around you and you could not see them before.

You are on your way.

  3. The skin should absorb the oil completely. If this does not happen then stop using the oil.
  4. Use it sparingly.

Top 5 Issues Keeping Food Processing Industries Up at Night

The Indian food industry is considered to be a sunrise sector because of its large potential for growth and socio-economic impact. It is estimated as a $258 Billion industry with about 8% growth annually with a potential to reach $482 billion by 2020 with large investment in food processing, technical innovation and infrastructure for agriculture sector. India could well become the food basket of the world. With the second largest arable land in the world, India is the largest producer of milk, pulses, sugarcane and tea in the world and the second largest producer of wheat, rice, fruits and vegetables. Indian agriculture being the primary supporter caters to around 60% of the population for their livelihood and contributes to 17% of the GDP. Below are some issues keeping the food processing industry up at night.

1. Preservation of raw food is also a major concern for the industry. In goods such as diary, fruits & vegetables, meat processing, a little contamination can lead to destruction of the lot of raw materials making it highly risky. The industries would have to be staffed around the clock to be able to keep tabs on the raw materials, preventing them from spoiling and infestation.

2. Hygiene – Absence of Hygiene cannot only contaminate the raw materials but can also make the finished product toxic. Also, hygiene does not play a role just in the raw material but also in the processing. Installing the correct facilities for staff to ensure proper personal hygiene is met, also contributes towards meeting food safety requirements.

3. Toxin Removal – Food processing facilities rely on the use of potentially dangerous chemicals for sanitation and pest control. Because of this attention has to be applied to reduce the risk of accidental environmental contamination during the food processing cycle, failing which it can make the food toxic. Establish cleaning and disinfection programmes to ensure the correct hygiene standards are met and reduce the risk of a foodborne illness outbreak.

4. Technology and Automation – The Indian food processing industry is mainly made up of smallscale and unorganised players. A lack of innovation in this sector leads the industry to make use of the same old techniques and hence, very little margin for improvement in yield. This is hindering the progress the industry should be making, leading to more manual labour to achieve their results and consumes more process time which can be reduced through implementation of technology. Implementing automation can decrease the process time in certain processes like in mincing or liquefaction.

5. Increased Competition – Organic Products are getting a good boost in the market today, and food processing industries are known to deplete nutrition off the food products. Hence, adding nutrition or preserving the nutrition in the food products has become a necessity. With increasing competition, the Food processing industries are always busy in discovering innovative ways to keep up in the market like using macerated fruits as a sweetener in order to make the food healthier.

Classical Fencing: The Classical Period

The Classical Academy of Arms defines the classical period of fencing in terms of three major factors: (1) how the sword is used, (2) the social context of the sword in sport, and (3) the signature weapons of the period. The Academy believes that, when these factors are applied, the result is a coherent approach to the use of the sword, with a standard set of weapons, in a definable social context.

Swords have been used in at least 5 different ways: as a military weapon, as a weapon for civilian personal defense, in judicial trials by combat, as a method of settling affairs of honor, and for sport.

The sword enters the period following the American Civil War (1861-65) and the Franco Prussian War (1870-71) much diminished as a battlefield weapon. These wars demonstrated that repeating firearms, the development of early machine guns, and longer ranged artillery had made the premier battlefield use of the sword, the massed cavalry charge, extraordinarily costly. In spite of various attempts to restore the sword to its traditional stature, and its continued inclusion in military training, by the early 1900s it was an anachronism.

Swords for civilian daily personal defense had already disappeared from use with the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Men about town no longer carried a sword as a fashion accessory.

The last recorded attempt to use the sword in judicial trial by combat occurred in England in 1818. The result was a speedy, and somewhat embarrassed, legislative revocation of the trial by combat in 1819.

The settling of affairs of honor by the sword had suffered a downturn with the development of dueling pistols in the 1700s. However, in the years after the Franco Prussian War, the use of swords in duels became a nationalistic cause, and by the 1880s this resurgence fueled a rebirth of interest in dueling with the dueling sword and the sabre. However, the carnage of World War I generally satiated the bloodlust of society, and by World War II the duel was an infrequent event.

That leaves the use of the sword for sport. The Victorian sports revival included fencing, leading to the organization of competitions, the development of governing organizations, the establishment of common rules, and the inclusion of fencing in the first Olympic games, all in the period 1880-1910. Civilian sport and dueling technique clearly diverged from the military use of the sword. Fencing was a sport of the white social elite, with women’s roles narrowly proscribed, and firmly amateur in character. During the period from the 1880s through to the early 1950s, three weapons evolved into their modern form (foil, epee, and sabre), and two were eventually discarded (the bayonet and singlestick).

Thus, during the period from approximately 1880 to World War II the combination of several trends clearly defines a period of change and rebirth in fencing. The period saw the end of the military use of the sword for anything but ceremonial purpose and the slow demise of dueling, leaving the sword only as a weapon for sport. At the same time fencing texts evolved to focus on the civilian and then the sporting use of fencing weapons. The birth of organized sports in general in the Victorian sports revival included fencing, making its practice more international in scope. And as fencing moved into international competition, rising nationalism in Europe adopted fencing as an element of national power.

This period clearly ends with World War II. Not only does international fencing stop during the period 1939-1945, but after the war fencing undergoes significant changes. The introduction of electric scoring to foil and eventually sabre complete the transition in scoring and technique started with electric epee in the 1930s. The adoption of fencing, and all international sports, as an element of a wider national security strategy by the Soviet block led to revolutionary changes. The use of the sports factory model and the quest for medals as a measure of international prestige fundamentally reshaped how fencing was funded and managed at the national level. The development of sports science led to significant changes in the development of athletes. Social changes cleared the way for women to participate fully at all levels in the sport, changed the character of the athletes from members of the rich elite to a much wider population including all races, and led to the eventual abandonment of the amateur ideal.

Based on these changes on how the sword was used, the context of fencing as a sport, and the signature weapons in use, the Academy believes that a reasonable definition of the classical period is a transitional period during the years between approximately 1880 and the onset of World War II in 1939.

7 Reasons Why The Saxophone Is So Popular

It seems that everyone loves the sax. People tell me constantly how much they love the sax. (You probably do, too, or you wouldn’t be reading this.)

But why? What is it about the sax that’s so wonderfully cool? And why does it effect so many people so strongly? Here are my thoughts on the subject:

  1. Sax music makes you feel good. The very sound of the sax does something to you. It touches you. It tickles your nervous system, in a good way. The very vibration of the instrument changes your vibration as you hear it.
  2. The saxophone sounds great anytime, in just about any kind of music, and makes almost any band more fun to listen to, even lousy bands. Even country music. Even polkas!
  3. Saxophones create great ambiance. The sax sounds hip, sophisticated, relaxed, sensuous and romantic, and always creates great atmosphere no matter where its played.
  4. The sax looks cool. Even just the look of the instrument itself is artistic and fun. Even just having a sax laying around the room creates a hip ambiance. Having a saxophone in a room will always inspire interesting conversation.
  5. Sax music takes you there. A good player can really take you places like no other instrument. Sure, guitar players would argue with that, but its true!
  6. Sax players are cool people. Almost universally, saxophone players are hip and interesting people. And I know a lot of them.
  7. Sax & Sex. And I think you know what I mean. Need I say more?

No matter where you here it, or in what context, the saxophone always sounds great, looks great, and creates great ambiance. And it makes you feel good when you hear it. That’s why so many people love the saxophone!

Five Common Reasons For Blocked Drains – And How To Avoid Them

Few things can be as great of an inconvenience as the inability to use your running water and plumbing system in your own home. Even if you have running water, your plumbing must work perfectly in order for you to be able to turn on the tap in the first place. Do not put yourself into a situation where you have to be inconvenienced and call in someone for emergency repairs. Make sure to keep your piping free and clear or else you may have some very time consuming and expensive repairs to tend to. Here are the five most common reasons for blocked drains and how you can try to avoid them.

1. Vegetation growth

Although not the most common, this factor could lead to some of the most expensive and extensive repairs you may have to deal with. Often times our piping systems have been installed when our homes were built long ago and new and different unforeseen blockages can occur by way of root systems from trees and other vegetation growth. The roots of a tree can slowly put pressure on plumbing lines causing them to break, bend, leak, or be blocked, all of which can create a worsening situation. Often times these repairs require expensive machinery, digging, and re-sodding of lawns.

2. Foreign objects

If your sink or tub was draining perfectly a few days ago and now suddenly sees to be clogged, you may be dealing with an object stuck inside of the pipes. This can occur when an object is left by a sink that does not have a drain filter or screen. Even if the object does not completely block the pipes at first, it may still begin to accumulate debris leading to a clogged pipe in the near future. Many with kids are familiar with random objects dug out of the pipes- many times toys!

3. Grease

If you are noticing a clog in your kitchen sink it may be due to a build up of oils. Many types of greases and lard can clog up drains very quickly. Do not throw excess cooking grease down the disposal and drain. Hot grease in its liquefied form will get inside the plumbing and then later solidify while grabbing ahold of extra food particles and debris. This will create a strong and difficult clog and may damage the pipes.

4. Hair

If you are noticing clogs in the bathrooms, the most likely cause is build up of hair. Hair, especially long strands, have the ability to become tangled creating larger and larger balls of hair that actually work like a net. The netting begins to trap other debris and smaller hair and before you know it the sink will not empty. Make sure to use a strainer in all bathroom tubs and sinks.

5. Non-flushables

You would think only children are to blame for attempting to flush random objects down the toilet, but you would be surprised how many adults do the same thing. It sure looks like we should be able to flush Q-tips and cotton swabs down the drain, though not all septic systems can handle it and the clogs that result can be some of the hardest to fix. Make sure you only flush items that have been deemed as septic system safe and completely flushable.

Avoid the common reasons for clogged plumbing and keep your system running smooth.

Finding the Correct Drill Bit for the Job

There's an old sales adage, when people buy a drill bit, what they're really buying is a hole.

So, when choosing the right drill bit for the job, it is crucial to consider the hole you wish to create. What surface do you need to penetrate? How deep do you need to drill? How many holes do you need to create? Using the right drill bit will give you the result you need to achieve. However, using the wrong drill bit can lead to damage to your electric drill and potential damage to the drilled surface itself. There are many types of drill bit that can be used for different materials. For example, when drilling concrete a masonry drill bit is needed which has to be tougher than it needs to be sharp. When you drill soft wood, toughness is less important than sharpness. In fact, if you drill wood with a masonry drill, the duller cutting edge which breaks up stone and concrete surfaces so well will create a lot of friction on the wood which can smoulder and combust.

Drill bits designed to penetrate metal are a different kind of bit, again. Like a wood drill bit, the requirement for cutting sharpness for metal is as essential but the drill bit itself needs to be made of even harder material than a wood bit. Both precision items but still having different characteristics. Wood and metal bits can look very similar in design and shape. So, the easiest way to tell the difference is most wood bits are golden in color. Metal bits tend to be HSS and a dark bluish, gun-metal gray and can contain cobalt or titanium. Masonry bits are often a bright silver finish. But not in every case, so it is important to refer to the manufacturer's or the supplier's specification. Also, unlike masonry and metal bits, wood bits can also be flat in design with a chisel-like head, which comes to a fine, sharp point. This enables you to make larger holes than can be achieved using a round or tubular style of bit. So take care to look at the alternatives available to you. This way you will always have the right bit for the right surface and create a hole that is right for you. Do not, under any circumstance, use the wrong bit for the job.

For example, if you used a wood bit on concrete or metal, it will damage the bit; chipping lumps off the sharp cutting edge. It can even snap the bit. You can use metal bits on some soft woods but generally it is best to keep a supply of each type of bit so you always have the appropriate tool.

If you are looking to drill holes in plastic, it is usually best to use a metal surface bit. This is the most precise of drill bit.

If you are using a multi-purpose electric drill, be mindful to check a set the drill setting according to the surface. For example, generally speaking you would not use the 'hammer-drill' setting for wood, plastic or metals. However, the 'hammer-drill' setting can make life much easier when drilling holes into concrete and stone.

If in doubt, visit an appropriate drill specialist website to discover the vast choice you have. You should also find sound advice on what drill to use for every possible task.

Six Stylish Types in Window Blinds

Window blinds don’t have to be boring! These fresh, designer-inspired ideas will help upgrade dull window treatments to become a focal point of any home aesthetic.

1. Honeycomb Blinds

These eco-friendly options are a new favorite for homeowners who want to go green. They feature an innovative design that adds an extra layer of insulation to windows, thus reducing energy costs. They are easy to DIY install, are quite affordable, and provide a modern, streamlined look that can stand alone or be paired with drapes.

2. Roman Shades

These window blinds provide the clean lines often associated with contemporary decor, but can be jazzed up with a variety of colors and patterns to provide additional flair. They use less fabric than drapes, meaning that even the most budget-conscious homeowners can opt for a luxurious material that really stands out. Buyers can also follow another trend by opting for bold, bright patterns and colors. Roman shades are flexible, sleek, economical, and endlessly customizable.

3. High-Tech Options

Those who love adding smart features to their homes will be swayed by this new innovation in window blinds, featuring automated options for opening and closing, as well as other functions, depending on the model. This smartphone-controlled technology is available on cellular shades, roman shades, and roller shades.

4. Organic Materials

The general design trend of bringing natural materials indoors applies for those who choose bamboo or rattan shades. They provide a homey look and are readily available and relatively affordable for most standard-size windows. A woven look adds textural interest, while a plain style can be paired with drapes. Look for brands that use sustainable manufacturing if concerned about the environment. This type of blind lets in diffused light, so it allows for privacy while also bringing sunlight into the space.

5. Metal Blinds

Once considered antiquated, sleek metal blinds are making a comeback, particularly for those who have an industrial aesthetic. The newfound popularity is associated with the popularity of stainless steel appliances and other futuristic touches.

6. Panel-Track Systems

Those who have a large space or sliding glass door to cover may want to consider a panel-track system. These options are sleeker than the unwieldy vertical blinds that once dominated, and are completely customizable in shape, size, and style. Choose from fabric, or opt for wood for a more natural look.

Whether replacing all the window treatments in a home or simply making a few needed updates, there are more options than ever for fashion-conscious consumers when it comes to blinds. Pair the practical and stylish for a look that works with every lifestyle.

Paintball: Knowing the Styles of Play

There are over half a dozen kinds of ways to play paintball. Woodsball, Tournament or Tourneyball, Scenario Paintball, and Speedball, which can be broken down into a couple of sub-categories: Airball and Hyperball.

· Woodsball:

Woodsball is the original method of playing paintball and is generally played in a forest or wooded area that is large enough to allow room for dozens of players. In this form of paintball, players tend to stalk their opponents, and the game takes more time altogether.

Accuracy is key when you are playing paintball woodsball style. Stealth is an issue in this version of the game. The paintball players will do all they can to keep their locations unknown. Paintball marks are very loud when fired, and can possibly reveal a player's location. So many woodsballers will try to purchase quiet marks so that there is less chance of giving away their position to opponents when they fire.

Woodsball players also fire less, because it is harder to know where the other players are – and therefore these paintballers do not waste as much ammo. Of course, when you fire less often and your targets are more hidden, a player requires more patience and better aim than those who fire quickly.

Many different versions of woodsball have emerged: such as center flag, capture the flag, total elimination, protect the president, hopperball, 21, civil war, and the list goes on and on, woodsball players can legally invent their own game and custom design their own objectives.

· Speedball:

Speedball, as the name of the game would indicate, is a much faster kind of paintball. Speedball is played in close quarters. The size of a speedball field is approximately the size of a large basketball court. Bunkers, which are often inflatable rafting material, plastic tubing, wood pallets or tires, are placed all over the field – players use the bunkers to help them maneuver and most importantly, to take cover. The bunkers are placed symmetrically, so that either side has more of an advantage than the other.

The paintball players shoot more quickly and sometimes at closer range in speedball than in woodsball, shooting way more paint this way. Most paintball tournaments and competitions are built around the speedball concept. Thus, leagues will practice this style of paintballing, as opposed to other methods.

Speedball can further be broken down into several popular different varieties.

Airball, which is the most common and probably the most popular way to play, is played on a rectangular field the bunkers are air inflated and made of Nylon.

Hyperball is another popular form using Corrugated Piping of different sizes and shapes on a Rectangular field.

· Scenario paintball

The last kind of paintball I will mention is scenario paintball, though there are many more kinds of paintball games.

Scenario paintball is essentially just what it sounds like it is, based on a specific scenario or theme – determined by the teams playing. Typically these are historical, science fiction etc., and scenario paintball can involve hundreds of players.

Like woodsball, the paintball scenario games take longer than speedball, they can last hours or even days. Depending on the group and / or scenario set up for this kind of paintball, the teams may have to take certain breaks at intervals and continue later. Scenario paintball may perhaps prove to be a challenge to orchestrate, but once you get going it is a game you can really enjoy – you get lost in the fantasy and with scenario paintball, players can enjoy the most imaginative aspect of the sport.

Tips for Shooting Interiors

Tip 1: You need a good digital camera with a tripod. When photographing an interior, you want to make sure that everything is clear and sharp. I use F11 (aperture) and 1/2 second (ISO 200) in most cases. Sometimes if you want to get a blurred background on a close-up shot, then you will want to shoot with a wider aperture, or the smallest f-stop your camera will allow (e.g. F1.8).

Tip 2: Use a wide angle lens. Shooting wide can make the room look great, especially when in Hong Kong, the size of the property is most likely less than 100 sq. meters. In a confined space, sitting tight into one corner while you try to get the other three corners in just looks wrong. You shouldn’t shoot all three walls into one picture. Showing the highlights of the interior design features is important. About the lens, anything in the 16-24mm range on full frame (or the APS-C equivalent which equates to 10-16mm approx. on some less expensive camera) is great. I often use 17mm full frame for my wide interior work.

Tip 3: Sufficient indoor and natural lighting are both important. Light up the room. If there is good natural light coming through the windows, use that as well. Adjust the overall feeling of the lighting to a balanced and optimized level.

Tip 4: Find the best angle. Take time to explore different angles to shoot from. Decorate the room with small artistic items, plants or anything you like to add a bit of creativity. We can’t all afford a tilt-shift lens to keep perspective in check, so it’s a really good idea to shoot with the camera at or slightly above mid-room height. This means you can keep the camera aimed out straight to keep the walls vertical. While the perspective distortion you get can be corrected in post-production, it’s much easier to get it right in camera. This is another reason to use a tripod as well.

Tip 5: Use post-processing software, e.g. Photoshop or Lightroom. You should bring the Highlights down and open up the Shadows. Next bring the Blacks down to ensure that the contrast lost from opening up the Shadows doesn’t impact the image too much.

Tip 6: Go vertical for staircases and other special feature. This is also important if you want to share the pictures on the web, as most images are horizontal in the interior photography world. Some vertical images could light up your portfolio. Verticals usually mean letting the eye fill in gaps, so make use of the composition to show hints of the room.

Things to Do When Sidings of Aluminum Garage Doors Are Badly Damaged

Serious damage to a section or sidings of the aluminum garage doors calls for immediate replacement. This can be a dilemma for consumers if the sidings are no longer available or when the manufacturer has closed down shop. Problems arising from siding repair often happen to owners with garage door openings installed for about two to three decades at most.

Since aluminum garage doors are those that are frequently used in American households, it would be difficult for them to seek an exact replica of the damaged door. Not a very alarming matter though since there are some garage door manufacturers who still make custom-made sidings up to this day.

For those who still remain patrons of aluminum sidings, here are some of the things to do when aluminum doors get damage:

· Make vertical cuts on each ends of the sidings poorly damaged by using tin snips, horizontally cutting along the center;
· Keep in a steady position the nailed upper section of the sidings then remove its lower half;
· Carefully cut the nailing tab located at the top of the replacement piece;
· Make sure to spread a generous amount of butyl gutter seal along the nailed section sidings then press to fit the lower replacement piece, sealing intensely;
Apply silicone caulking compound or a butyl gutter seal considering the joints of the garage sidings.

Here's a point to ponder: If the sidings of the aluminum garage doors is impossible to fix, never hesitate to call a local siding contractor if the job is too much for you to handle.
