HDMI Cable – Crystal Clear Pictures

Today high definition televisions are everywhere, and it's really remarkable to see the difference between a standard definition display and one of the new LCD or Plasma ones. However, if you want to ensure that you've got the best picture you'll need to make sure you have the best HDMI cable as well. Learning just a bit about these cables will help you choose the best one for your system and help you understand just why they're so important to the overall quality of your display. It may surprise you to learn just how big of a deal your choice of HDMI connection is.

HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface and is used for transmitting audio and video signals from the source to the display without compression. Blu-ray players, HD television receivers, and modern gaming consoles are all perfect examples of what an HDMI cable would be used to connect to a television set. There are also five different types of connecters for these cables. Types A and C are the most common, with A being the standard on most systems and C being a "mini" version of it used for various components or displays. In short, the Type A is the one you'll probably be needing for home theater setup.

There are also two main types of HDMI cables on the market today, standard and high speed. For things like 3D displays, deep color display, or making connections over long distances high speed connections are recommended. The standard option is perfect for basic connection needs and for sending the signal over short distances, although even in these instances you may notice an improved image quality as a result of the investment in a high speed cable instead of the standard one. The choice is really up to your budget and your ultimate goal.

The best thing about buying an HDMI cable today is the price. When they first debuted, they cost a significant amount of cash but today the standard style options are very inexpensive. While buying a high-speed one or one that is exceptionally long will cost a bit more, it's nothing compared to the price that was attached to them only a few years ago. All televisions sold today are HD, and to get that high quality picture you'll want to make sure you connect it to the signal properly. HDMI is the main thing to look for, but remember these basics as well.

What Kinds of Panic Attack Treatments Are There?

I know a nurse who shared with me that she never will forget the first time that she saw a panic attack. She was a young nurse – training in the emergency room, when a lady came in the middle of a panic attack episode. Her whole wheelchair was shaking violently. She couldn’t speak. She was really traumatized. Not all episodes are this bad, of course; and fortunately there are panic attack treatments to assist people before they get to that point.

Obviously, if a person is in real danger, the fight or flight mechanism which started in the adrenals, with the release of adrenalin, will have many of the same symptoms as a panic attack. This is normal, expected and necessary to help a person out of danger. Panic attacks are seen as a problem when there is no known source for the symptoms, when they are unexpected and/or uncontrolled, and repeated for no apparent reason.

What causes a panic attack?

Although the exact causes of these attacks are unclear, the tendency to have anxiety runs in families. Some researchers state that a balance of chemicals in the brain stimulates its development. There also appears to be a connection with major life transitions such as graduating from college and entering the workplace, getting married, and having a baby. Severe stress, such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or job loss can also trigger a panic attack. A panic attack can be caused by a known source of stress and fear or be unexpected.

Panic attacks can also be caused by medical conditions and other physical causes. The list below is not comprehensive. If you’re suffering from symptoms of panic, it’s important to see a doctor to rule out the following (or other) possibilities:

• Mitral valve prolapse, a minor cardiac problem that occurs when one of the heart’s valves doesn’t close correctly.

• Hyperthyroidism

• Hypoglycemia

• Pheochromocytoma (neuroendocrine tumor of the medulla of the adrenal glands)

• Labyrinthitis (inner ear disturbance)

• Wilson’s Disease (an inherited disorder that causes too much copper to accumulate in your liver, brain and other vital organs)

• Vitamin B Deficiency

• Stimulant use (amphetamines, cocaine, caffeine)

• Medication withdrawal

In addition, there are triggers to having panic attacks. Some of these triggers are as follows:

• Consuming a large quantity of alcohol

• Addiction to alcohol – and abrupt cessation of the use of alcohol (after a habit of high consumption

• Imbibing a large amount of caffeinated beverages

• Addiction to cigarettes – because nicotine sometimes can cause panic attacks

• Usage of sleeping pills, and anti-anxiety medications.

• Medications to treat heart disease and asthma

• Illegal drugs such as cocaine and marijuana

• Chronic stress

• Major life stressors – getting married

• Major physical/life stressors – having a baby

• Recent surgery or anesthesia

What are the symptoms of a panic attack?

The symptoms include a sudden intensified feeling of anxiety, accompanied with alarming physical symptoms. In addition, there may be other mental symptoms such as a feeling of loss of control or dying, or detachment from yourself or reality. The symptoms often escalate within 10 minutes and most of them will be gone within 30 minutes. Some symptoms disappear completely only after an hour. It is best to consult with your physician to rule out a heart attack. A panic attack can be caused by a known source of stress and fear or be unexpected. The cause of panic disorder is not exactly known, but it is assumed that of balance of chemicals in the brain does stimulate its development.

For instance, there are common signs associated with a full-blown panic and anxiety attack. It could be one or a combination of the different prominent symptoms such as hyperventilation of shortness of breath. You may consequentially feel numbness or some sort of tingling sensations, racing heart, heart pounding or heart palpitations, chest pains and discomfort. Other related physiological manifestations are excessive and uncontrollable sweating, nausea, upset stomach, trembling or shaking, lightheadedness, fainting or dizziness, hot and cold flashes and feeling like you are choking, having a blank mind among others.

There are many symptoms that accompany a full-blown panic attack. These include having an accelerated (racing or irregulara) heart beat, hyperventilation or shortness of breath – or fast smothered breathing, chest pains and discomfort, light headedness, heavy sweating, choking sensation, nausea, upset stomach, trembling or shaking, fainting or dizziness, hot and cold flashes, numbness, and tingling sensations.

What kinds of panic attack treatments are available?

As mentioned before these attacks can be treated so that they don’t recur. There are many available approaches to treatment for this condition. However, they don’t all work for everyone. The best suggestion is to try various modalities of panic attack treatments and find out which ones work for you. It certainly is dependent also on the reason for the attacks – and your response to them.

Therapists: Therapists can help their patients to uncover the circumstances by which the attacks may have begun or from where they are stemming. With the help of an experience therapist, many patients have been able to reclaim their freedom and ability to function in society.

1. Cognitive behavioral therapy: Focuses on the thinking patterns and behaviors that are triggering and sustaining panic attacks. This approach helps you to re-focus, look your fears squarely in the eye – and deal with them realistically. (Example: Interoceptive therapy: An approach that proved successful for 87% of patients in a controlled trial which simulates the symptoms of panic to allow patients to experience them in a controlled environment).

2. Exposure therapy: is a type of behavior therapy in which the patient confronts a feared situation, object, thought, or memory. Sometimes, exposure therapy involves reliving a traumatic experience in a controlled, therapeutic environment. The goal of exposure therapy is to reduce the distress, physical or emotional, felt in certain situations. Exposure therapy may be used in dealing with anxiety, phobias, and post-traumatic stress. During exposure therapy treatment, a therapist helps the patient remember a disturbing thought, traumatic situation, or feared object. The therapist also helps the patient deal with the unpleasant emotions or physical symptoms that may arise from this exposure. Through confronting the situations and thoughts that cause stress, patients are often able to learn coping skills, eventually reducing or even eliminating symptoms.

Prescription Medication: These can be helpful – but should be used cautiously – and not long-term. They all have side effects – which should be reviewed. To find out a complete list of the medications available to treat this condition, see your physician.

1. Antidepressants are sometimes used in the treatment of panic attacks and panic disorder. However, it takes several weeks before they begin to work, so you have to take them continuously, not just during a panic attack.

2. Benzodiazepines are anti-anxiety drugs that act very quickly (usually within 30 minutes to an hour). Taking them during a panic attack provides rapid relief of symptoms. However, benzodiazepines are highly addictive and have serious withdrawal symptoms, so they should be used with caution.

Natural cures (natural panic attack treatments):

1. Change your diet – by eating a healthy diet, avoiding stimulants such as coffee and nicotine, avoid alcohol, and drink plenty of water.

2. Exercise often: This is a great reliever of stress and can help to prevent panic attacks.

3. Relaxation techniques: One of the easiest ways to prevent a panic attack – or stop one in its tracks is to try deep breathing or guided imagery. Calm down as soon as you realize you are going to have an anxiety attack. Try taking slow, deep and cleansing breaths. This will just set you back.

4. Acupuncture: This is purported to help heal the body’s organs and assist them to restore their natural balance.

5. Acupressure: This method releases blocked energy – and relieves anxiety.

6. Herbal remedies: There are many herbs that treat anxiety which can lead to panic attacks. Some of these include catnip, green and fennel teas, Kava, St. John’s Wort, Hops, Motherwort, Passionflower, and Skullcap.

7. Meditation and yoga: These forms of de-stressing the body are also extremely helpful in slowing down breathing and relaxing.

8. Controlling negative thinking about your stressors. Stop yourself from falling into negative thinking patterns about the past, present or the future.

9. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT): An Eastern medicine method (using the same principals as acupressure) may help. This is a method of working with the meridians in the body (energy channels) to first clear away the build-up of mental and physical debris that prohibits healing in the body, then tapping on the ends of these meridians to regulate the impulses flowing along them and connecting the systems and organs of the body together. Using the tips of the fingers, a tapping action is used to stimulate and unblock disruptions in the body. Mental and physcial conditions are said to be improved by this method.

The bottom line is that there are many panic attack treatments available. There is no need to feel hopeless – or helpless. Roadblocks To Learning: The Three Most Common Misconceptions

Golf instruction is unique – every teacher has their own perspective. While this idiosyncratic quality makes learning the game a never-ending endeavour, it often creates confusion for the mid to high handicap golfer who is searching for a consistent guide to improvement.

This series of articles, designed to help the once a week golfer break ninety, is a distillation of notes compiled from over ten-thousand golf lessons I have conducted over the past thirty years.

My instruction program is based on the belief that three swing thoughts is the maximum number any golfer can entertain simultaneously. When you try to introduce a fourth concept, one of the original ideas disappears.

The first step on the road to continuous improvement, is to reduce the golf swing to three essential concepts. Once you master these concepts, the ultimate goal is to eliminate conscious thought.

Every golfer with a handicap of twenty or higher is an unwitting victim of the three concepts we are going to discuss. A conscious awareness of these beliefs will unlock the door to breaking ninety consistently.

Misconception Number One: The belief that perfect technique will lead to perfect results.

Perfection in golf is impossible. Even the best players in the world, who play and practice three-hundred and sixty days per year, have no guarantee of results. Every round is an adventure. A brilliant practice session may be followed by a dismal game and a miserable training routine may produce outstanding results on the golf course.

The second misconception is a corollary of the first. Golf is a game of “misses”. If you regard your shots as either perfect or terrible, you are overlooking the fact that your technique is gradually improving. Breaking ninety is not a matter of hitting more perfect shots, but rather, improving the quality of your imperfect shots.

The third misconception is your expectations for improvement. Most of us resist change. We pay good money for quality instruction, yet often resist wholesale change.

Many students have an all or nothing approach to improvement. Either the swing improves immediately or they dismiss the new technique and go back to their original form. During the learning process, even the slightest improvement is significant. You have to ease your mind and body into new habits gradually.

Focus on small changes, one at a time. If you are attempting to improve your swing arc, reduce the motion into bite-size segments. This method will allow you to monitor your progress.

The ultimate goal is to connect the pieces into one clear image that triggers your best swing automatically.

Review these concepts. Your willingness to replace, or at least, suspend belief in these three concepts is the first key to consistency.

You may recall the story of the baby elephant tied to a small stake. After several attempts, the elephant gives up trying to pull the stake out of the ground. When it is fully grown, the elephant still believes that the stake is immovable, so it remains bound to a piece of wood that could be shattered in an instant.

Does this metaphor have any relevance to your golf game?

In the next article, you will learn the key to developing effective muscle memory.

Shipping Container Homes – The Real Benefits

There are many benefits to living in a home built from used shipping containers, and more and more people are starting to realize this and take action. If you are already lucky enough to have built your own and / or already live in one, you'll know these benefits first hand and will have experienced them for yourself.

Much cheaper than conventional building methods of timber-framed buildings, and brick and mortar buildings, used containers are modular, flexible in design (and can be made to look absolutely beautiful!), Durable, eco-friendly, and just an all-round winner when it comes to building your own home.

Over the next few paragraphs I'm going to outline some of the benefits of living in used shipping containers.

Economical to build …

Although the price of containers is currently on the rise (due to various factory closures in China during 2009 and early 2010), you can still pick up a fairly good bargain. As the global recession starts to ebb and global trade routes begin to get busier again, the production of shipping containers will increase also. You'll start to see container prices start to dip again, or at the very least remaining stable.

You can currently pick up a used container for around $ 1,500USD. That's a base price of $ 1,500USD for 305sq feet of floorspace. Not bad when you compare it to the price of more traditional forms of construction.

So to conclude this point, used container homes are much more economic to build than more conventional building methods.

Eco-Friendly (Green Living)

So how green can shipping container living be?

The answer: They can be as green as you want them to be.

If you want to go down the truly green route, then think of your home more as an 'eco-pod'. You could produce your own energy by putting a few solar panels on the roof. You can use hydro if you're close to a river or fast-flowing stream.

You can apply a 'Green / Living Roof' to the top of your containers which will aide in insulation and greatly reduce your heating costs (in the winter) and cooling costs (in the summer).

Durable and Weather-proof

Consider the fact that shipping containers are built to withstand the most unforgiving weather conditions, traveling hundreds of thousands of miles aboard open-top trans-oceanic shipping-container ships … Built to have a minimum working life of 20 years before being decommissioned. After that, these containers, placed in a fixed position and maintained, have an almost infinite lifespan.

Made of pre-fabricated steel and welded together, they are made to be rigid and strong, and very hard-wearing. This makes them hugely practical in areas of high geological activity, such as earthquake zones and hurricane hotspots.

Shipping containers can easily hold out against windspeeds of up to 175mp / h (281km / h) when anchored with pylons … which is easily done. Every building should have suitable establishments whether it be used used shipping containers or a traditional build.

Above I've outlined the three main benefits most home-owners will immediately notice. They are in fact three of the main things many people look at when buying any type of home. It just goes to show the explosion in shipping container homes in the past few years is totally justifiable, and why so, so many people are turning to these containers to build their own dream homes.

The Best Way to Sell a Run Down House

Are you living in a house that needs serious repairs? Have you ever considered the idea of selling it? This might be a difficult decision to make. In fact, most home owners are stuck between two choices: either they sell their house with no profits at all, or spend some cash on renovations and repairs. The latter is a natural step because all prefer to move into homes which are in perfect conditions rather than ugly houses. If you are one of the many who are sick of their run down homes, then you must consider the idea of selling your house to the buyers of ugly houses.

You might have a property which is not in a salable condition, and you are thinking of making repairs in it. Yet, give that decision a second thought as it might be way too expensive for you. Ugly houses can not be elevated to a selling standard by just applying paint to them. These homes call for structural repairs, and, in some cases, buying a brand new house can be cheaper than the long list of renovations you will have to make.

Moreover in the buyers’ market, there are very few who are prepared to invest in property which is in need of repairs. Yet all is not lost yet. You just have to reach the right place where you can sell ugly houses according to the existing market rates. Once you reach it, you won’t have to worry about repair costs anymore. Besides, you will be getting profits on the sales of your property.

Another thing that you should know is that many professional property developers, who use to buy such homes, are keeping away from the market due to the risk factor. They only invest in property that is in semi- perfect condition. This leaves only one option and that is to sell your home to an ugly houses buyer company.

The best thing about ugly houses buyer companies is that they can purchase almost any home. Yet don’t start thinking that they are doing you a favor. It’s all pure business, and these companies are in it for the profits promised to them. They also have this DIY project in place, which means that you, the homeowner, don’t have to spend a single penny on renovations before selling the house. You simply leave all the repairs to these buyers of ugly houses.

It might also interest you to know that many home owners reaped incredible benefits by selling their ugly houses to such companies. These are the companies that specifically specialize in buying such a property. Regardless of the condition of your home, they can pay you the whole amount in a short frame of time (usually a fortnight). What more can you ask for?

Well, here’s another incentive that makes people sell their ugly houses to these companies: the guarantee of getting a sale. They take care of almost everything including things like legal paper work and their fees. This ensures a hassle free sale of your home. With all these reasons and more, remember to consider an ugly house buyer the next time you get sick of your run down home.

Design and Build Contracts, Advantages and Disadvantages

Anyone who has spent time working in the UK construction industry is likely to have strong opinions about Design and Build contracts. In the immediate future, it’s likely that activity within the sector is going to increase, and whilst the exact political flavour of the Conservative government has yet to be confirmed they have at least promised to invest heavily in house building. With that in mind, the following points highlight some of the thorny issues associated with design and build contracts.

UK House Building

200,000 appears to be the magic number; in March 2015, David Cameron promised to double the target of 100,000 homes aimed at first time buyers, and with his position now confirmed in No.10 Downing Street we wait with bated breath to see if this commitment will reach fruition. Across the UK, firms are experiencing a modest rise in construction projects and reporting a certain amount of confidence. Besides the always-nebulous claims of politicians a range of measures including a loosening of planning laws and assistance for first time buyers is buoying up the industry after last year’s lack of growth. For many developers, however the fact that an increased demand for labour and materials is likely to push up prices can make design and build contracts more attractive.

Design and Build Advantages

Design and Build [D&B] is a useful procurement route for developers in that it allows a certain amount of control over costs. In general, lump sum contracts result in a contractor agreeing to take on the responsibility for both the design and construction of a project for an agreed price. The contractor may have their own team of designers or may engage an outside firm. They will agree a design initially with the developer, but after the contract is signed the contractor will have full responsibility.

If the agreed-on design remains unchanged throughout the project, the developer can be reasonably sure that the overall cost of construction will remain unchanged. Of course, it’s possible that the developer will require some design changes during the project, but it should then be possible for the contractor to provide an illustration of exactly how any such changes will affect overall costs.

Another of the advantages of design and build contracts is the possibility of reduced construction time. If the contractor is entirely responsible for design a great deal of time can potentially be saved as the design and building elements will run concurrently. For developers the main benefit is that, once the contract is agreed the contractor takes on much of the financial risk inherent in a project; that’s increasingly attractive when prices of both labour and materials are looking likely to rise. When various political parties claim that an upswing in construction is just around the corner, it’s worth remembering that it’s not just the taxpayer who will be expected to contribute. The Conservative government will also need to rely on private investment.

Design and Build Disadvantages

Not everyone in the industry is a fan of design and build contracts and it’s therefore worth taking a look at their disadvantages. Those who dislike the system point out that if a builder is given a free hand to design a building based on a pre-agreed price, even if costs don’t rise during the project they will be likely to work to the lowest possible specifications [if the contract allows them to alter the specifications].

Secondly, there’s an inherent problem in that builders are not architects. An architect, as well as having years of training and a very specific set of skills not least aesthetic ones, will be up to date with both the legal and design requirements. There are also requirements that may not be written into law but will be at the cutting edge of what makes a building fit for purpose now, and years into the future. Giving a builder a set amount of money and most, if not all the responsibility for design is a recipe for a shoddy result, say some people.

Making generalisations about the merits of D&B versus traditional construction methods is dangerous. In the real world, both can and do result in some buildings that are successful and some that are a disaster. For developers, architects and contractors perhaps the most important point is to ensure that the contract whatever form it takes is fully understood by all sides, covers all legal requirements and has the flexibility built into it to allow a satisfactory result.

Construction Management

Recently there has been something of a trend towards construction management rather than design and build contracts. Here, an intermediary in the form of a construction manager is appointed and the developer takes more responsibility for the overall costs of a project. It’s possible, however that if private investors are effectively forced into taking more financial risk the supply of money for the promised housebuilding boom could begin to dry up.
