How To Read Your Spark Plug in a Two Stroke Engine

For a two-stroke engine, having a fresh spark plug is incredibly important. So you should check your plug often.

By “reading” the color of the plug you can tell a lot of things about how the engine is running. The top of a new spark plug is covered in white ceramic insulation. If your engine is running perfectly, then this part of the plug would soon become a tan color. If your plug is grey or white, than you know that your engine is running too lean and you need to take steps to prevent engine damage. First, clean your fuel system, looking for any blockage. Dirt in your carb can cause the bike to run lean. Check your fuel mixture to see if you are mixing the oil and fuel in the correct proportions (50 parts fuel to 1 part oil). There are many factors that can cause an oil and fuel mixture that worked great to become less than ideal. The brand of the gas and the oil as well as air density can affect how well the mixture works.

The lean condition can also be caused by fresh air entering the engine somewhere it shouldn’t. So you should look for loose intake manifold bolts, leaks in the carburetor mounting, faulty gaskets and leaks in the crank seals. You may also need to change to a larger carburetor jet.

If your spark plug is black or oily than that means the engine is running too rich and is not properly combusting fuel. This problem can be caused by too much oil in the fuel and oil mixture and/or having a faulty spark plug that is misfiring. First, you should figure out if the spark plug is the problem. To do so, touch the electrode end of the plug to the engine while pulling the starter. If the sparks that result are blue, then you know you have a fully functioning plug. Install the plug and run the bike for a few minutes. Then stop the bike, remove the spark plug and look at it. If the plug is dark and oily, then you know that the problem is not your plug. You should check your oil and fuel mixture. If the bike’s engine stumbles, sounds clogged up or doesn’t run clear than you might want to get a smaller carburetor jet.

While you should regularly inspect your spark plug, it is essential to check your plug after any type of engine modification to make sure the engine isn’t running too lean. For standard use, the NGK B7HS short thread plugs and B9ES long thread plugs are recommended. For use in competition, the NGK B7HS-10 short thread plugs and the NGK BR9EIX long thread plugs are recommended.

First check your coil for a healthy spark. Use a fresh plug and ground the electrode to the engine while pulling the starter – the spark should be a healthy blue. If so, install the fresh plug, and operate the bike normally for a few minutes, remove the new plug and “read” it. If it still appears blackened or oily, the problem lies elsewhere. A hotter plug in not recommended – make sure your fuel mix is correct, and consider a smaller jet only if the bike stumbles or sounds “full of snot” and doesn’t run crisp. Operating your bike a little too rich won’t hurt it – but too lean is never good. A little dirt in your carb could cause it to run lean, and you wouldn’t even know why your bike was running so nice and crisp until it seized

If you opt for a metal framed patio set, then you will need to source the same type of metal. This will help you with the structure and the soldering process. With metal you will have to solder the pieces together so that it can be sturdy. To begin the process you will need to measure the parts and cut them to size. Make sure that you measure twice to avoid any mishaps with the length of the parts. Place all the parts in the order that you will join them. Double check this. Once you are sure of each part’s positioning then begin with soldering it together. Once the parts are together and you have all your patio seats, you can paint it the colour you desire. The metal patio set will prove to be hard and cold to sit on. For this you can simply measure the seating and back areas so that an upholsterer can make the cushions for you.

The wood option is usually more popular because it doesn’t rust and it is a cheaper alternative to the metal. In most cases, people find unused pallets and use it to create their own furniture masterpieces. With pallet wood you don’t have to start from scratch. You could simply take one pallet as it is, add four small legs on each corner, sand it and paint it to create an outdoor coffee table. You may want to add a glass top for a smooth surface. For the seats you will need to take the pallet apart in order to piece the wood together to make it sturdy. You will need a saw, hammer, nails and glue to achieve this. Delphi MyFi Satellite Radio – Compact and Slim

MyFi satellite radio is another great product from the electronics manufacturer Delphi. Although some say that it is the new iPod killer, this is not the case. An iPod and a MyFi radio belong into two different categories and they have their own advantages and drawbacks.

For a hand-held satellite radio receiver, the MyFi is extremely compact and slim in size. The portable radio can be used as a car or home audio player and its sleek and trimmed features ensure that it can be used in the most congested places as well. The radio only weighs 7.2 Ounces and is 1.2 inches thick. The box includes several tools and accessories, which make it possible to install and run the radio at home or inside your car.

Connecting cables, antennas and mounting brackets are available that make it an easy affair to operate the device anywhere. There is a built in FM Transmitter just like an iPod and it works well even when you are in a low frequency zone. The navigation through different channels is done with the help of a scroll wheel which makes navigating through channels refreshingly easy. The device can add up to 30 preset stations and the Tune Select feature enables the user to add or store the names of 20 artists or simply save up to 20 songs on the device.

However, there is no expandable memory card slot, but at its listed price, 20 songs is a good deal. It also works as an alarm clock and allows you to get the daily weather report or daily stock prices of your favorite cities. The sound quality is not as good as an iPod and that's where it lags behind. With a price tag of $ 350, the product is either expensive nor cheap, but it is affordable and the features it provides are easily worth this price. On a scale of 10 the MyFi satellite radio is an easy 8.

Cut Glass and Glass Blowing History and Development

Natural glass, like obsidian, is a dense volcanic glass, and has been used by man for millennia. To early man, obsidian glass was an extremely rare and valuable commodity, because of the way volcanic glass fractures, sharp edges occur. This inherent quality of natural cut glass was put to use and was often made into sharp spear points and blades.

Man-made rudimentary glass was made from silica sand, plant ash and lime. Over time it was discovered that if glass was heated until it became semi-liquid, it may be molded or shaped and left to cool into a solid new piece or vessel. In ancient times glass pieces were valued as a substitute for precious stones or gems.

During first century BC, the craft of melting and blowing glass into useable objects was developed. Glass pieces and items gradually became more common after the discovery of glassblowing. Objects such as vases, bottles, and cruets were mouth blown and mold blown during the Roman Empire, usually for ordinary purpose and daily use.

Common glass normally has a greenish hue. The green tint is caused by minuscule amounts of iron impurities in the sand used to make glass. Glass producers learned to make decorative and colored glass by adding metallic compounds and mineral oxides such as cobalt. Colored glass of reds, blues and greens become prevalent. After craftsmen learned to score and cut glass, they found clear glass refracted light in spectacular fashion. Thus, clear cut glass became popular, and demand for colored glass plummeted.

Around 1000 AD, a new development was made in glassmaking. The glass making component of soda-lime, was replaced by potash obtained from wood ashes. From this time on, glass from the northern part of Europe differed very much from that made in the Mediterranean area, where soda-lime remained in common use. Centuries later in Bohemia, ashes from beech trees were used. The production of Bohemian "forest glass" was progressively refined over the years.

During the 11th century new ways of making sheet glass came about in Germany. Glass blowers would blow spheres, and then form them into cylinders. They would cut the glass while still hot and then flatten the glass into sheets. Glass makers in Venice, Italy improved this method in 13th century. By the late 1300's there was as many as 20 glassworks in Bohemia and Moravia. The 12th century saw the arrival of stained glass production. Stained glass, another form of colored glass, was made by adding metal impurities. Church and monastery applications of stained glass can be traced back to examples that remain today, ie St. George. Bartholomew church in Kolin. A glass wall mosaic is preserved there from around 1380.

Venice became the dominant center for glassmaking during the 14th century. Here new glass making methods were developed and export trade such as mirrors, tableware, and decanters flourished. Secrets of glass making were highly guarded in Venice, but historically glass workers moved to other areas of Europe taking their knowledge and skill with them.

A technique called "the Crown glass process" was used to make glass until the mid part of the 1800s. A glassblower would spin around 9 lbs of molten glass at the end of a rod until it spread out into a flat disk nearly 5 feet across. The glass disk would then be cut into panes. Glass from Venice was highly prized for over four centuries as they managed to keep this technique secret. In 1688, a method for casting glass was invented. This led to glass and glass panes in becoming a much more common material. The glass pressing machine was invented in 1827 and facilitated mass production of relatively inexpensive glass items. The glass pioneer, William J. Blenko, is recognized as first glass producer in America to use the cylinder method of creating flat glass by the 1920s.

The Bohemian countries of Czech and Slovakia are still known today as two of the finest cut glass and cut crystal producers in the world.

Your Point of Power

We'd all like to be flying above the storms of life and it's possible, but knowing your Point of Power is the key. There will always be storms, but you can choose to remain on the ground, battling them or you can supersede the natural law of gravity that governs the earthbound by achieving lifting and leaving the ground, with its storms, far beneath you.

Your personal point of power is that point at which you achieve lift and begin the ascent from the ground of your circumstances to that clear blue sky above the clouds. It's different for each of us, this breakthrough point that powers us through the clouds, and it often changes from day to day. So, how do you know what your Point of Power is? Here are a few clues.

It's that point at which you face down your biggest fear. It's that moment at which you decide that fear no longer has the power to paralyze you. If you have to move forward with fear digging it's talons into your back, you will. That's the Point of Power called courage. That's when you become truly unbeatable.

It's the point at which you let go of that ancient grudge. When you begin to see that your lack of forgiveness will poison no one but you, and realize that no matter how wrong you were, the grudge you hold is turning your own heart to stone, then you will soar.

It's the point at which you surrender control and begin to trust in what you know to be Truth. Very few of us actually lack knowledge of the Truth – we just refuse to live by it, preferring to take what appears to be the easy way. Face the Truth, acknowledge it and then commit to order you life accordingly and you will not be able to keep yourself from rising.

It's the point at which you acknowledge and accept your Purpose and Mission and step into it wholeheartedly. When you realize that your life is no accident and you have a reason for being here, a job to do, your point of power becomes your driving passion.

It's the point at which you put Goals to your visions, wings to your dreams. Driven by your vibrant visions and willing to risk everything in bringing them to pass, you will take to the air above those who are still stuck driving for comfort and ease in life.

It's the point at which you realize that it's not necessary to know it all, learn it all or understand it all before you soar. It's enough to know that the laws of lift work whenever the conditions come together. You do not have to wait to take a commercial flight until you understand completely how it works. It's enough to know that it does.

It's the point at which you allow yourself to love freely, giving of yourself with abandon, expecting nothing in return. And it's the point at which the needs and concerns of others become personal issues for you.

It's the point at which you determine to operate in integrity no matter what everyone else is doing or how it looks, the point at which your character achieves clarity.

It's the point at which you make a quality decision, no more waffling, and begin to live it, the point at which you examine your motives in light of your purpose and mission and are willing to change yourself, and no one else. It's the moment at which you assume responsibility and remove the word BUT from your vocabulary.

Achieve lift on your personal life path, in your relationships and in your career. You can rev your engines all you want and you can even begin to move down the runway. But until you find that point of power, you're going nowhere, and you'll never achieve lift or experience the exhilaration of watching the earth move away benefit you as you point yourself to the endless skies – no longer earthbound.

Your greatest potential is realized at your personal Point of Power. You were designed to soar. If you're feeling earthbound, begin today to determine what's snapping your power and then take the steps necessary to rid yourself of it. If you're soaring already, experiencing the thrill of operating above the storm, do not forget those still earthbound. You have the secret; do not be stingy. Find someone who's stuck and help them get off the ground!

Consider the following set of simple rules. Live by them; work toward them daily and do not make the mistake of confusing simple with easy. Points of power are rarely easy, but almost always simple!
