A Simple Easy and Effective Anti Aging Skin Care Guide

To be truly easy and effective an anti aging skin care guide needs to be simple. There’s no need to spend 30 minutes a day sitting around with a full mask of green on your face.

Truth is if you just follow a few of the tips set out below and your skin will look younger for years to come.

Later in the article there are some great and effective products that can be classified as an anti aging skin care treatment.

Tip number # 1

Of course we all love a tan because it makes us look healthy and active as if you have come back from a fantastic vacation, and in fact some sun is actually good for your skin.. However too much sun will damage your skin. We are all being told to rely on sunscreen but most sunscreens contain products that are actually harmful to our skin.

If your curious about the sun and why just a little is good for us here are the reasons.

Firstly sunlight helps our bodies produce vitamin D which is essential for good health.

Hyaluronan is a major component of skin and its function is tissue repair. When we get too much sun the UVB rays damage the skins cells which in turn causes our bodies to produce less Hyaluronan as time goes by.

Tip # 2

One of the very best things you can do for your skin is as simple as making sure that you drink plenty of clean filtered water. The water that comes from our taps can actually harm us due to the chemicals due to all the chemicals it may contain.. As our bodies are nearly 70 % water and our skin is the largest organ its very important to keep it well hydrated, which in turn keeps our skin looking its best. Around 8 glasses a day is ideal.

Tip # 3

This anti aging skin care guide would be lacking if it did not include our diets, especially the importance of spinach , broccoli and other dark green leafy vegetables.

Regular servings of these antioxidant rich foods will help to fight the highly destructive free radicals which roam our bodies causing aging and other damage to our skin and major organs.

Just by following the above tips regularly you can help to ensure your skin can retain its youthful appearance for years to come.

There are also some secret weapons available to help us in our quest for better skin. One of the best weapons is an anti aging skin care treatment, but and its quite a big but a good treatment must do 3 things for us.

Number 1. They must help our bodies produce its own elastin and collagen. Both these are needed to maintain a youthful appearance .As we age we produce less collagen and elastin . However certain substances like Nanobelle Coenzyme Q10 can help the body to produce more of these essentials.

( Just a side note, manufacturers try to convince us their products contain collagen.

Even if it were true collagen molecules are too big to fit into our skin’s pores therefore cannot be applied topically. Our bodies must produce its own collagen to be effective for our skin.)

Number 2. Skin care treatments must hydrate our skin to keep it soft to touch Hydration also helps our skin free from cracking, chapping and dryness.

Number 3. skin care treatments must also have ingredients to counter fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and blemishes. Although there is much much more research that can be done about anti aging skin care treatments hopefully this article will help you to go in the right direction.

The 5 Biggest Mistakes Online MBA Students Make

If you want to do well in your online MBA program, avoid these common mistakes:

Mistake #1: Enrolling in a non-accredited online MBA program.

Avoid it: A notch from an unaccredited drill may not be accepted by other universities and potential employers. Before enrolling in any online MBA program, delay to see if the drill is accredited by the fitting regional association.

Fix it: If you’re already presence a drill that isn’t fittingly accredited, try to conveying to a drill that is.

Before joining to a new drill, ask them to defend their conveying plan. With any accident, you may still be able to recoup some of your work.

Mistake #2: Not winning online MBA work badly.

Avoid it: It’s simple to do minus than your best when an instructor isn’t credit over your shoulder. But, don’t dig manually into a dump by neglecting your assignments. Good grades can mean a better risk at scholarships and a better risk at nailing your first station sphere drill job. Make a schedule that allocates time for drill as well as family, career, and something also that is important to you. Set departure time each day to done your work lacking distraction. If you’re still having care receiving your work done, believe winning a lighter stack. Evoke that total is key.

Fix it: If you’re already behind on work, position a telephone seminar to sermon to each of your professors. Explicate your setting, and your renewed commitment to done your assignments. You may tender to do more credit or participate in unique projects to get your grades back up. If you find manually slipping again, recruit family members and links to help keep you on trail.

Mistake #3: Ignoring MBA program peers.

Avoid it: Networking is one of the chief perks of sphere drill. Most traditional students avoid their MBA program with a rolodex round of associates that can help them in their new profession. It can be hard to convene people through a virtual order room; but, it’s not infeasible. Twitch off your program right by introducing manually to your peers and professors. Forever participate in order chat sessions and point boards. When you done a course, drive a point to your peers hire them know that you’ve enjoyed seminar them and bountiful them a way to associate you in the potential. Ask them to counter similarly.

Fix it: If you’ve let networking reduction to the edge, it’s not too postponed. Twitch introducing manually now. Before you rate, drive out a comment or a message to students you may be able to work with in the potential.

Mistake #4: Paying for an online MBA notch out of your own small.

Avoid it: There is tons of pecuniary wealth for online MBA students. Scholarships, grants, and unique programs can help improve the charge of coaching. Before first your first semester, get as greatly pecuniary help as feasible. Also, be constant to set up a seminar with your boss. Some employers will help pay a worker’s coaching if they think the notch will promote the group.

Fix it: If you’re already paying for everything out-of-small, delay to see what opportunities are still free. If your drill tenders access to a pecuniary therapist, call her up and ask for guidance. Many scholarships allocate students to re-join each year, bountiful you manifold risks to be settled money.

Mistake #5: gone out on work experience.

Avoid it: Internships and work-inquiry programs bestow students with genuine-life sphere expertise, costly associates, and, regularly, a new job. While many online MBA programs don’t compel that students fritter their summers interning for main corporations, some students basically skip this opportunity. But, don’t let this risk get away! Call up your drill and ask them what work experience programs are free or associate a group to ask for internship facts.

Fix it: Most internship is only free to students, so be constant to position something before you rate. Even if you already have a job you may still be able to get an internship for a passing time of time or during abnormal hours.

Steps on How to Wire a House

Sometimes we encounter unnecessary events in our house such as electrical faulty wiring. It damages our bulbs, appliances and even the wiring itself that usually causes a fire.

Even if we are not specialized in electrical wiring anybody of us can be an electrician. We can do such basic installation into our house just to follow a simple yet very cautious instruction for our safety.

Here are some basic steps on how to wire a house:

Step 1

Be sure to have the necessary electrical tools. Bring the following to be used:

A. Pliers

B. Side Cutters

C. Circuit Tester

D. Electrical Tape and tape measures

E. Wire stripper

F. Screwdrivers- both Flat bladed and Phillip head

G. Wire, Cables, and Tape measures

H. Safety goggles

Note: There are many list of equipments used in electrical wiring. Never use low class tools, it can lead you to an electrical accident.

Step 2

Sketch your electrical plan. Analyze and design efficiently what you have drawn and organize it step by step. This will make your work faster.

Step 3

Set up your wiring lane within the house. Decide the area to place your switches, fixtures, and outlets. Put switches close to the door for easy used. Make sure it does not block the other materials in your home. Keep it simple.

Step 4

Set up wires, cables, switches, and outlet. Connect and place them accurately on you wall or ceilings. Use the necessary tools to do it.

Note: Be sure that your electrical power supply is off upon wiring to avoid electrical dangers.

Step 5

Connect the wires properly. Same color must connect to each other. Tape the wires properly. Avoid the exposure of open wires.

Step 6

Evaluate voltage requirement of your appliances and equipments so that you can choose the right range of your circuit breakers.

Step 7

Test existing connections. Check wires if still working. You can use this to save your money, time, and energy. If not, replace or establish a new wiring system.

Step 8

Study the existing ordinances and laws in your respective state before installation of wires. These keep everything to be safe and avoid hazards in your home. Know the basic Electrical Code.

Step 9

Protect yourself properly. Wear gloves and goggles when you work on your electrical wiring. This will guard you from possible incident such as electric shocks.

Step 10

Set up your circuit breakers. Please take note that every wiring system you connected has its own fuse and circuit breakers. It has important roles to protect your home from possible incidents.

If you have already done the steps and connections ensure that it passed the safety standards. This is very important to avoid fire or explosion upon testing your electrical wiring. Make sure you tested all the electrical connection, switches, fuse, and outlet. After checking the possibilities of improper work you might have done, test your wiring if it is actually working.

Is Visual Storytelling the Future of Web Designing?

More than 6 months into 2016, we’re talking about braving the next phase of web designing. What exactly is the “next phase” of web designing all about? It is all about transcending mere “convenience” as far as user experience on the web is concerned. If we were talking about the need for dynamic websites all this time, today we have gone up a notch higher to focus on “unique” web experience. If yesterday, it was all about creating layouts, suitable for desktop, mobile and tablet-viewing, today it’s time to offer your digital audience a richer – more engaging experience through visual storytelling.

All about storytelling in websites

Yes, visual storytelling is quickly emerging into prominence in the web designing landscape. Though it’s not an entirely new phenomenon (you can come across write-ups focused on improved story-telling techniques on the web that were written 4-5 years back), it definitely didn’t enjoy the kind of attention as it does today. Visual storytelling is well poised to lead the pack of web designing trends in 2017.

Now, implementing visual storytelling in web design can turn out to be a daunting prospect, but acquainting yourself with a few tricks can always do wonders for you. Here are a few things that web designers can try out while telling a story through their works.

Storytelling does not necessarily have to be about complex visuals

Designers do not necessarily have to stuff their layouts with heavy images. If you can say your story in one or two images then you do not have to use ten or fifteen. However, if you do need more than ten images to weave a story, then don’t try to reduce it to 7 or 8 images.

Make your audience a part of your story

There are several ways to do it. One oft-discussed way is to “gamify” your site. It means you’re rewarding your user for fulfilling a task. They’re sites that even reward users for filling up registration forms. The Swarm App, for instance, rewards you for becoming a “mayor” of a place (where you have checked in quite a few times).

Another way to make your users feel like they’re characters in your story is by including a guided questionnaire for users where they can tell you about themselves and you can offer personalized experience to them based on the information procured.

Know which sites are best suited to accommodate storytelling techniques

Visual storytelling is a means to bolster interactive storytelling on the web. There are some sites that just don’t benefit from interactive stories. If you’re running a website which is primarily accessed to receive fast and continuous information, you wouldn’t really want to incorporate interactive content thereby slowing down the user experience. For instance, an interactive image will definitely not work well for a news site as it will do for gaming or e-commerce site.

So, the next Web Designing Company you’re hiring should be well aware of the significance of storytelling as far as interactive user experience is concerned. Do not hire them before asking them about the techniques they would adopt to make your website a visually compelling unit.

Which Wood is Best For Outdoor Furniture – Teak Or Cedar?

If you are looking to landscape your backyard, reinvigorate your tired porch or patio, or even create a warm and welcoming living area out of that new deck, you may need some new furniture.  After all what good is having a great place to entertain if your guests don’t feel comfortable while they’re there?  When you need a few chairs to fill some space on the porch, or that plush, comfortable, deep seating sofa for the veranda, chances are that Teak or Cedar will be your best choice for this outdoor living furniture.  Which to choose will depend on a variety of factors however most importantly you will need to consider the look you are hoping to achieve, maintenance required, and the price you can expect to pay in order find the best fit. So read below and you’ll be lounging by your new poolside bar in a new sun lounger in no time at all!

The Look

One of the most important features of any new furniture is the appearance that it gives off.  Is your outdoor patio living space better suited for a rustic appeal or luxurious contemporary style?  Perhaps neither.  Maybe just a simple, yet warm, elegance speaks to you more.  But whether you’re looking to create a fun, relaxing environment with a pool side bar and some sun loungers or a simple conversational seating area you will have many choices with both Teak and Cedar.

Cedar usually has a very natural look, accenting your living area with soft red, light brown, and gray tones.  Lightweight and porous, cedar can easily accept a stain, sealer, or even paint, but most commonly is left in a raw finely sanded finish to preserve its natural look, feel, and smell.  Cedar is aromatic by nature which not only adds to the ambiance of a relaxing evening, but also helps preserve and protect the wood from insects and weather.

Teak is almost the polar opposite of cedar in terms of just about everything.  Teak is by nature a hardwood and as such, is more dense and heavy than cedar.  Grown exclusively in subtropical and tropical regions, and most commonly in the dense jungle of Indonesia and other Asian countries, teak is almost always imported and therefore is also more rare.  As a result of the exoticism associated with teak furniture it has achieved a perception of rarity and wealth and thus portrays a look of luxury and prestige.   Teak outdoor furniture is commonly purchased in one of two ways.  It can either be oiled, to achieve a darker “stained” look, or it can be left in its natural unfinished state where it will gracefully age and turn a soft patina gray color.  This color, unique to teak furniture, contributes to its exotic appeal.

Another very important factor to consider when deciding to purchase outdoor patio furniture is the level of maintenance that you wish to employ in living with your new furniture.  Luckily the maintenance factor, or lack of, is one of the main reasons that both teak wood and cedar wood are top choices of furniture manufacturers and consumers.

Cedar, by nature is a very resilient wood whose properties help to resist weather of all climates but specifically heavily climates with heavy precipitation.  Snow, sleet, and rain are no concern for the long lasting properties of cedar, which will maintain its brilliance for many years.  This is one of the reasons why leaving cedar furniture in a sanded unfinished state is by far the most popular finish.  Like with many other woods though, some wish to finish their cedar furniture to achieve an altogether different look.  Several refinishing options are listed below in order of popularity.

  1. Stain – many prefer the finished look of a nice stain on their outdoor furniture.  The benefits of using a stain include being able to change the color of the furniture to virtually any color for which stain is available.  Stains are now offered in many shades through the dark to light color spectrum.  The stain may also provide a slight protection from the elements although with cedar it’s not really necessary and so mainly should just be used to alter the color.  The disadvantages of stain are that in order to maintain the original stained look, the stain needs to be reapplied every 2-3 years as the stain itself is not as resilient against the suns UV rays and weather elements as the wood is.
  2. Sealer – some prefer to “lock in” the natural look of their cedar furniture and so choose to use a high end sealer.  Sealers are made by many companies and are available at any hardware or big box store.  The sealer will prevent the cedar patio furniture from fading and will slow down the aging process.  Keep in mind though that this aging is often a desired affect of the cedar.  The downside to sealing the cedar furniture is consistent with the drawback to using a stain.  In order to maintain its effectiveness, it must be reapplied every 2-3 years which can be tedious and cumbersome.
  3. Paint – like any wood surface, cedar can be painted with a fine outdoor wood paint.  This is not as common as staining or sealing the furniture because paint will crack and chip, and also drastically alters the appearance of the furniture from its natural state.  Once the paint cracks and chips the entire painted surface must be completely sanded and repainted, sealed, or stained.

Teak is also a very weather resistant and ultra resilient wood due in part to its propensity to secrete a natural teak oil which helps to self condition it and protect against the harsh demands of a wet and/or humid climate.  Many shipbuilders choose teak as a main wood for the decks of their ships for this very reason.  Many sunken ships have been raised from the depths of the ocean only to show the teak beautifully preserved and in tact.  It’s this property that makes teak more commonly found in its natural unfinished state as there is no functional reason to apply any external finish to the surface.  Some customers however choose to apply additional amounts of this teak oil to achieve a darker more stained look.  While this will preserve the “new” look of the furniture it must be reapplied every 2-3 years to maintain this appearance and so can become burdensome.  Also by leaving the teak in its natural state, the often desired patina gray look is naturally achieved where it cannot be, if a teak oil or other finish is applied to the surface of the furniture.

While price is often a concern for consumers, sometimes it is not such a factor for consumers of wood patio furniture.  As with everything else, price is a measure of perceived value.  The more valuable a product is perceived to be in the mind of the consumer, the more it will cost.  This reason alone is why both teak and cedar patio furniture are generally more expensive than other common outdoor furniture materials such as plastic, wicker, or rattan furniture.  Teak and cedar themselves have a price difference too though which can be quite significant depending on the individual furniture item.  Here’s why.

Cedar – because of its lightweight, proximity, ease to harvest and availability, cedar is the cheaper choice of the two wood furniture types.  While it will last a long time and is very durable, typically teak will last longer.

Teak – for all of the reasons opposite cedar, teak is the more valuable wood.  Simply not having the availability of cedar or other woods helps to create this elite, rare, sort of feeling that teak carries with it, which raises the price.  The purchase of teak furniture is often perceived as a sign of affluence or wealth because teak has a widely known reputation for commanding a higher price.  More expensive to harvest, more expensive to ship, and its long lasting appeal coupled with its novelty together contribute to its higher cost to produce which in turn creates a higher price for the consumer.

In summary, “better” or “best” can only be determined by the customer.  However taking appearance, maintenance, and price into consideration, teak and cedar can easily be compared and contrasted for similarities and differences.  Cedar, the more light weight, commonly used wood makes great patio furniture because of its ability to resist insects, rot, and weather elements (specifically rain, sleet, and snow) and also because it is relatively inexpensive to produce.  Teak, the hardwood of the two, is more exotic, rare, and will last longer.  Therefore, it commands a higher price, but also delivers a greater perceived value in terms of prestige, longevity, and maintenance free ownership experience.

Finally! An Alternative to Plastic Pet Drinking Fountains That Are Attractive And Not Made in China

It is by now well documented that plastic pet fountains can cause chin acne in cats, as many an unhappy cat owner has discovered. This is not simply a matter of a few pimples but can be an ugly and painful rash of raw, open wounds all around the mouth. Fortunately, there are now several makers of both stainless steel cat fountains and ceramic cat fountains which can eliminate this threat. This article is a brief review of those available.

Drinkwell’s Lotus Pet Fountain is advertised as ceramic and the upper and lower bowl are, however the large central tower through which the water is delivered is plastic. Though relatively attractive, it is a complicated unit to clean, requiring considerable dismantling and as the water is constantly in contact with the plastic, it would seem to defeat it’s own purpose. This unit sells for around $100 and is made in China.

Pioneer makes both a stainless steel cat fountain and a ceramic model. The design is sleek and modern and the unit is fairly simple and easy to maintain. Both models are made in China, however, and there is no certification as to food-safeness or whether the glaze on the ceramic model is lead-free. Customers have also reported that these fountains splash. They sell for around $49 -$59.

There are several makers of ceramic cat fountains in the United States. Glacier Point makes several ceramic models. All models are comprised of rectangular boxes, cast in molds and each has upside-down glass bottles on top providing a large capacity of water. Except for the high grade, food-safe tubing and connecting devices they are 100% food-safe ceramic and, unlike plastic models, will not scratch, thus do not harbor harmful bacteria, which grow in the scratches in plastic fountains. Glacier Point’s refrigerated units keep the water chilled, possibly making it more appealing to pets, thus inducing better hydration.

On the down side, the refrigeration makes the fountain more costly to run. In addition, the Glacier Point pet fountains are definitely not designed with aesthetics as a guiding value. This brand is probably for those who take a purely practical stance on watering their pet and don’t much care about other issues, such as looks.

Whereas all the above mentioned fountains are manufactured, there are at least two individuals in the United States who make ceramic cat fountains by hand, using food-safe ceramics. Both sell their wares on the online store for handmade goods, Etsy. The shop, NoodleDoo Designs (http://www.noodledoodesigns.etsy.com) sells a great many other objects other than cat fountains. She does very whimsical work and though her cat fountains leave something to be desired (for example, the pump cord drapes over the rim), at least she offers an alternative to plastic pet fountains, not made in China. Fountain prices begin at around $100.

Benefits of Magnetic Screen Door Over Framed Screen Doors

Spring-loaded, framed screen doors are standard with pretty much every home that you buy now. However, they are encumbered with many problems, depending on environments such as having kids or having pets.

If you have cats or dogs, you've got to let them in and out of the house multiple times every day. If you've got kids, if they're like most kids, they throw the screen door open and let it crash shut. If you're a BBQ'er, have you ever had your hands full of food going out or coming back in the house, and do not have any hands free to press and pull the handle?

But what are your alternatives? A magnetic screen door provides you with all of the benefits of a framed screen door, but without the encumbering problems. They turn it into a hands-free entrance and exit for both people and pets, while keeping pests out.

Here are four benefits of magnetic screens over their standard framed, spring-loaded relatives.

1. They Use High Quality, Attractive, and Durable Products

Any company can claim to use high quality products. The truth is most, if not all, magnetic screen companies use sub-par materials to manufacture their products! If you want your screen to both look good and be durable, it is important to find a company that has tested and designed their products for high-traffic doors. Compare the weight. Typically low quality mesh weight 30g or less. Look for mesh that are 55g and above.

Also make sure that they only use high-energy magnets, which are sewn (not glued) into the mesh. Screens with magnets that are glued on that are in direct sunlight, will eventually fail. The sun melts the glue, and the magnets will actually misalign or even fall off.

Make sure that the Velcro, used to adhere the screen to the door frame, is sewn in, and has a very strong adhesive backing. If it does not have a strong adhesive backing, the weight and daily use will always pull it off the door frame, leaving it in a clump on the ground.

2. They are Hands-Free Accessible

If you have a baby at home, or someone in a wheelchair, or are typically carrying something into or out of your house, and are constantly struggling with the framed screen door handle, then installing a fly screen should be on the top of your spring Egypt summer chore list. It'll only take 10-15 minutes to install, but it'll save you a ton of aggravation.

How many armored doors are actually wheelchairs or stroller friendly? None. The beauty of the magnetic alternative is that for a handicapped person, they simply wheel through, or walk through with their cane, and they do not have to reach for the door handle, and prop it open while they attempt to maneuver through them through.

What about carrying a baby with diaper bags, or even groceries? You've got two hands full of grocery bags, and no one home to help hold the screen door open. What do you do? Reach for the handle, but that does not work because the six bags you're carrying will not allow you to reach. When you finally get the screen door open, you've got to prop it open with your butt while you open the door. Then when you try to walk in the house, it swings closed and clips you on the back of your heel. Sound familiar?

With a magnetic screen, all of that ends. You simply walk through, and as you pass through it automatically closes behind you, without ever having to touch it.

3. BBQ'ing Becomes a Breeze

Nobody wants to be in charge of opening and closing the door for the person grilling and moving all the burgers and steaks from outside to inside. With a magnetic screen, you do not need any help. Even with both hands full of food or drinks, you can come and go as many times as you need, on your own, and it opens and then automatically closes behind you.

4. Magnetic Screens are Natural Pest Controls

Another reason to replace your traditional framed, spring-loaded mesh door with a magnetic alternative is because magnetic screens are more effective at protecting your home from bugs, insects, and other pests you do not want in your home.

For example, if you're hosting an evening party, you do not have to worry about bugs getting in. Do you know the bugs that are attracted to the outside deck light that's near the door? When a person passes through the screen, instead of the entire doorway opening, like with a framed door, the magnetic screen opens only enough to allow a person to walk through, and then quickly closes behind them, not allowing the bugs any room or time to enter the house.

Five Steps to Making the Most of Enamel Paint

Enamel paint is the Tasmanian devil of the arts and crafts world. It’s tricky to use, unpredictable when drying, and might even present problems once it’s dried. More than one eager young painter has set out on a craft or modeling project meaning to use enamel paint and wound up bitterly disappointed.

Make no mistake: enamel paint has its advantages. It’s tough as nails, will last a lifetime, and offers a sleek translucent finish that ordinary acrylic paints largely cannot. If you’re willing to work with it, enamel provides incredible advantages, especially when working with metal and ceramics, for example some kinds of models and decorative lawn accessories and handmade enamel jewelry.

The five steps below aren’t presented in order, but following all of them will make the painting more fun and help you protect your project in the years to come.

Prime time is forever.

If your subject is made of metal, wood, or plastic, you should apply at least one coat of primer before even the first drop of enamel goes on. Priming helps prevent mildew, mold, rust and warping while making sure your enamel paint is lustrous and smooth atop the surface of the subject matter. It’ll also prevent stickiness once the enamel paint dries.

Primer is available in both spray-can and liquid formats at both hardware and arts and crafts stores.

Don’t brush off.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that all brushes are all the same. Because enamel paints are oil based, they’ll adhere to the brush you used to apply them just as much as they will the subject matter.

Enamel paints require brushes that can handle their thickness and density. Make sure you have several before beginning your project, and remember to get two of three of each kind of brush just in case.

Thinner is better.

Depending on the color, enamel paint can have the consistency of water or the thickness of molasses. You may need to apply a certain amount of paint thinner to the paint in order to make sure it evenly and smoothly spreads across the subject matter. Paint thinner, by the way, is also used to clean the brushes and to remove unwanted spots and stains on hands, clothing, and other surfaces. However, remember it’s extremely unhealthy if swallowed or put into contact with the eyes.

Good air quality helps.

Enamel dries best in conditions with little humidity and slight but not immense air circulation. You should also remember to practice good ventilation when working with enamel, as the fumes can cause dizziness.

Finish with a sealant.

Sealants help protect the enamel from chipping but also from help repel dust that the oil-based paint will otherwise surely attract and hold like flypaper. Sealants typically come in spray-can format, and can be applied in seconds.

Sealants are available in high-gloss and matte finishes, which can help amplify your finished project’s shine or just give it a realistic texture. Because enamel paint is naturally lustrous, a matte finish should be used when working on subject matter (jewelry, statuary, models) that shouldn’t have a “shine” appearance.

How DfMA Is Helping The Healthcare Sector To Build Faster

Simplified design leads to more efficient construction. Design for Manufacture and Assembly, also known as DfMA, is a design process that simplifies the manufacture and assembly of various construction elements. In general, DfMA, prefabrication and modular construction are terms which are used interchangeably. Therefore, the creation of prefabricated construction BIM modelling, modular construction drawings and DfMA modelling and drawings are required for the effective implementation of DfMA. The advantages of DfMA, especially faster build times, have been especially beneficial for the healthcare sector. Build time is a significant factor in the construction of new premises or addition of new complexes or renovation of existing healthcare facilities. Just how does DfMA accomplish that?

Well, initially, it was concrete components such as columns, beams and floor plates, that were prefabricated in the construction industry. Prefabrication evolved to include more elements, such as glazed, sealed and serviced components, modularized MEP (M&E) systems, facade treatments and even entire floors that could be stacked on top of, or placed adjacent to, each other by a crane. One methodology of prefabricating components from design to construction soon became known as Design for Manufacture and Assembly, or DfMA. Products designed using DfMA are of high quality and reliability, and while using DfMA the design stage progresses to the production stage with fluidity, ease and speed. Wet and dry services can be prefabricated in the factory and connected on site, speeding up the process. In some cases, modular construction enabled the building and the site work to be completed at the same time, and depending on the materials used, modular construction has been known to reduce the overall project time by up to 50%.

Unique to DfMA is the capability to manufacture a building’s floors, walls, ceilings, rafters and roofs all at the same time. While constructing in situ, floors are placed in position, then walls are put up, and lastly, ceilings and rafters are added on top of erected walls. Using DfMA, floors, walls, ceilings and rafters can be created simultaneously and can even be assembled at a factory to be transported to the site as a module, resulting in a faster process compared to conventional construction methods.

The use of DfMA has been known to improve safety as well as speed up the construction process, especially with steel work. Connections carried out at heights can be minimized or eliminated by using prefabricated modules. In certain cases, when panels are fixed from the interior of the building, scaffoldings can be eliminated, saving the time spent erecting them and associated costs. Standard assembly practices, such as vertical assembly and the use of self-aligning parts also saves time during prefabrication in construction.

DfMA is ably assisted with the use of BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology. Embedding this technology into projects early in the design stage can minimize the time taken for the project and, as a result, the costs incurred. Hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities particularly benefit from DfMA, since healthcare projects typically take a long time to construct. This is due to the fact that many healthcare facilities include a variety of services that require complex data communications, clinical components and security equipment. Manufacturing individual components and assembling them into modules off site can improve the coordination of services, the quality of components and their reliability. One of the key reasons why using DfMA can save time and reduce costs is that it enables the use of fewer parts in the construction process, and the components used are not unique. Also, harsh or sudden changes in weather need not slow the process of construction, as components are fabricated in factories, safe from adverse weather effects.

Using DfMA results in certain advantages, and some of the primary objectives of using DfMA are to:

  • Minimise the number of individual components
  • Standardise the components used
  • Avoid the use of complex components
  • Employ modular subassemblies
  • Use multifunctional parts
  • Avoid special test equipment
  • Minimise operations and processes

The introduction of BIM technology early in the design process can be vital to the efficiency of DfMA. Utilizing BIM technology in DfMA helps to realize the full potential of modularization and standardization. The BIM process enables the visualization and testing of components and modules virtually, before creating prototypes, resulting in reduced risks. Reducing risk is especially important for heavy-use areas, such as hospitals, for which construction time is crucial. Hospitals are also sensitive locations, and it is vital to limit the build time on site. Certain building types with a significant building portion that is repeated, such as hospitals, are well suited to the use of DfMA. Using BIM technology, DfMA can also cut construction time due to the fabrication off site of most of the building’s components and possibly most of the building’s floors. BIM technology also interfaces seamlessly with other technologies that drive the production of building components, an example being the ‘printing’ of concrete panels.

For hospital design, DfMA can be introduced during the bid stages of the project. The building’s structural and non-structural elements can be fabricated off site. This may include main structural external shear walls, which may be pre-installed with insulation and concrete. Facades can also be manufactured and delivered as bay-sized panels of up to 20 tons each, with windows, cladding, insulation and internal plaster boarding. After being delivered to the site, these panels can be placed in position quickly by cranes to create weather-resistant structures. Floor slabs with reinforcement do not require concrete pours on site. MEP (M&E) services can be fabricated in a factory and assembled on site, saving time.

Bathroom pods are becoming increasingly popular for prefabrication in the healthcare sector. The use of bathroom pods in construction have been known to significantly reduce the project schedule. In a project where 440 bathrooms had to be built, the use of prefabrication delivered bathroom pods 10 weeks earlier than the estimated schedule and that was before the time savings of installing pods against a more traditional route, which could add months as well as logistical challenges. Another reason why prefabricated bathroom pods work well to reduce construction time is because they present an effective solution to tight working conditions on site and poorly located connection points. The extensive coordination required early in the design process for bathroom pods can be aided to a great degree with the use of BIM technology in DfMA. BIM models help to detail the connection points and can help visualize working spaces. While designing bathroom pods, designers try to place the maximum number of connections on the edges of the module’s footprint, to minimize work above and around the pod in tight work spaces and therefore speed up the process.

In hospitals, modular buildings can be constructed as wards, theatres, diagnostic centers and support centers, such as offices. Modules can be repeated with the same design on different floors or different locations on site. These modular buildings can either be used as extensions or to construct complete hospitals. Repeated room design and standardised components created using DfMA can improve cost-efficiency, quality and minimise the risk of errors produced by changing design, all of which ultimately result in the structure being built faster.

Some of the other components for hospitals that can be prefabricated in assembly warehouses off site and then erected in situ, thus minimizing time spent locating, buying and transporting these items, are:

  • Shower units
  • Management offices
  • Laboratories
  • Doctor and patient rooms
  • Polyclinics
  • Operation rooms
  • Medical offices: surgical, clinical or dental
  • Emergency rooms
  • Exam rooms
  • Diagnostic centres
  • Hospital extensions
  • Imaging centers
  • Research suites

By investing in modular solutions, elements of hospital redevelopment can be taken off site, clearing space and opportunity for other essential tasks and enabling the continuation of high standards of patient care. In addition, when fabricated modules are of high quality the need for extra finishes are reduced, resulting in more time for other tasks. In addition to faster build times, other advantages may ensue as a consequence of using DfMA.

For example, DfMA was recently used for an American healthcare facility. Modular elements were used for patient room bathrooms and HVAC and plumbing system parts. Although reduced material waste and labor costs as well as shorter time schedules were expected results, an unexpected benefit presented itself as material cost savings, 40% to be exact. Encouraged by the savings gained using DfMA, the facility decided to opt for modular components for patient room frameworks, headwalls, rough-ins for outlets and lines. Further use of prefabricated building construction BIM work involved MEP ductwork, plumbing, fire protection and cable trays, thus expanding the scope and range of prefabricated components.

For healthcare facilities, faster construction is vital for patient care. With the use of DfMA, labor, financing and supervision costs are reduced, and almost all design and engineering disciplines can be included in the manufacturing process. In factory surroundings, weather conditions and regional climates are rendered irrelevant to work efficiency, and the risk of damaged building materials is reduced. The use of DfMA ensures that components for healthcare facilities can be designed easily, efficiently manufactured and assembled faster and at lower cost. With the early introduction of BIM technology in the design process, DfMA embodies a collaborative and integrated approach that helps the healthcare sector build faster and therefore optimize benefits.

Anti Graffiti Coatings

Anti Graffiti Coatings are clear protective coatings that can be applied to painted and unpainted surfaces. The protective coatings protect the surface and prevent the penetration of spray paint and marking pens into the substrate.

There are two types of Anti Graffiti Coatings available, Sacrificial and Non Sacrificial. Both products protect from graffiti attacks, but are very different from one another.

Sacrificial coatings actually come off every time the graffiti is removed. To remove the Graffiti, all you need is a hot water pressure washer, no cleaners of any kind are needed. This type of coating is loosened by high pressure hot water, and the product along with the graffiti comes off the protected surface, leaving the area just like it was before the protective coating was applied. Once the area is clean and dry, the protective coating will need to be re applied. This type of coating is ideal for areas that are environmentally sensitive, as its use guarantees that no cleaners will be used to remove the graffiti.

Non sacrificial coatings are exactly the opposite of sacrificial coatings, they do not come off the surface and can withstand many repeated attacks and cleanings. Some products offer unlimited attack warranties of up to ten years, based on the amount of coats of protective coating that are applied. Non sacrificial coatings are excellent to protect areas that are subject to repeated attacks, since they do not require a new application every time the graffiti is removed. Some manufacturers recommend the use of over the counter cleaners, like citrus based cleaners or Krud Kutter Graffiti Remover, to aid in the removal of the graffiti along with the use of the pressure washer. Most will recommend that water based cleaners be used to minimize the impact on the protective coating, and some manufacturers offer their own cleaners that are specially designed to work with their products.

These coatings are becoming more common in many areas, and in many localities, they are becoming mandatory. In the County of Riverside, in Southern California, new developments need to use non sacrificial anti graffiti protection on the project perimeter block walls and fences. This is a condition that must be met before projects are released for occupancy. In the city of Los Angeles, also in Southern California, city ordinances have been proposed to make protective coatings mandatory on all buildings in the city.

There are many options of anti graffiti coatings available in the market, and the finished appearance can vary from flat finish to gloss finish. Some products are almost impossible to see once they have cured, while some are very glossy. It is always recommended to first apply a small amount in an inconspicuous place to make sure the finished product appearance is acceptable. Once the coating has been applied and it has cured, removing the graffiti is easy and painless.

We recently completed a large block wall project in the city of Eastvale, California, and within one month of job completion, the new block wall was tagged in five different places. The client called us to have us take a look and to work with his cleaners to make sure the graffiti was being removed correctly and the coating was not being damaged. To show our client how easy it was to remove the graffiti, we stopped at their local Home Depot, purchased a bottle of a water based, biodegradable Spray Paint Remover and a vinyl bristle brush, and headed to the job site. Once at the job site, we just followed the instructions on the bottle, we applied the remover, let it sit three minutes, brushed lightly with the vinyl brush we had just purchased, and used the pressure washer to remove the graffiti. The paint came off with ease, it must have taken us a total of seven minute to remove one of the tagged areas, three minutes to let the remover soak in, a couple of minutes brushing to loosen the paint, and a couple of minutes with the pressure washer. When we were done, the graffiti was gone, and the protective coating was intact. The wall looked like nothing had happened.

The Humane Rat Trap – The Logical Choice

Rats are the ultimately famous pests that one could ever think of. They can be so tiny but amass to thousands quickly or grow bigger than expected. Some can even be mistaken for a cat. Either way, these creatures are deemed as a nuisance. They are famous for causing damage to your woodwork at home, eating boxed cereal and even destroying farm crops. They live in the sewers and carry serious diseases that could border on fatal. They do more harm than good. So if calling the pest control is your solution of choice, the most probable process of eliminating them is through killing. Chemical poisons are the most common. The use of rat poison is probably the most well known way to get rid of them, among others. But animal advocates have argued over the different options, stating that all of these are inhumane. Thinking of safer and more humane ways, people have come up with the idea of a humane rat trap.

No matter how irritating they are, rats still deserve to be treated the right way. While it may be true that all they do is pester humans, it is not a viable reason to justify killing them as a rightful thing to do. A humane rat trap was designed ironically to trap a very annoying animal in the most humane way possible – that is without taking the life out of it. Even the peanut butter and plaster of Paris balls are considered inhumane, because its end stage still results in a decomposing rat corpse.

The most common example of a humane rat trap is the tiny mouse cage specifically designed to lure and catch a rodent. Bait is placed inside and a one way door is provided. Once the furry little fellow crawls in, the door shuts and locks. But the rat would not wonder about it as it is too busy nibbling on its bait.

They say that this is the proper way to treat a pest. Trap them without hurting or killing them. Once they are trapped, they can be set free in an area that is far from your home. Setting them free in your backyard is like taking them for a walk in the park. They can easily come back due to their homing instincts. They are like Hansel and Gretel following the trail that they left when they got lost in the woods.

A humane rat trap would be your best option for a household invasion. Infestations involving a wider scope such as farms would probably need the expertise of a pest controller, which, unfortunately, utilizes ways that are apparently inhumane. Since their problem is more extensive, the aim is not just to kill a rat but to prevent them from further propagation because they can and they will breed. Farmhouses can just be the perfect spot for their breeding ground especially if left unkempt or abandoned, and setting up a humane trap could just be useless.

Does UV Work in Swimming Pools?

The short answer is yes. But don’t stop there.

There is an almost hysterical run toward using UV (ultra violet) light to “better” treat and disinfect swimming pools against bather and environmental waste. And you can’t stop at the answer above. You have to understand what UV treatment is actually doing. Like everything, there are pros and cons. There are also myths that must be dispelled and put to rest.

First the facts. There are 3 types of UV. UV-A: causes wrinkles in our skin and “burning”. UV-B aids in the production of Vitamin D. Both of these are able to penetrate the earth’s atmosphere. UV-C is used commercially and personally to disinfect food and objects. UV-C cannot penetrate the atmosphere and must be artificially created.

UV-C is excellent in sanitizing against bacteria, viruses, cysts & certain protozoa (including cryptosporidia and giardia – usually introduced from bather or environmental fecal matter – of which both are chlorine and halogen resistant). It does not allow algae to grow and multiply. It is non-irritating to mucous membranes, eyes and ears. It does not affect your pool’s water balance. It aids in reducing (not eliminating) chloramines and chlorine demand.

How does UV-C actually work? UV-C works works by disrupting the bacteria cells DNA and RNA. When the DNA and RNA are disrupted, the bacteria and viruses can not reproduce and multiply. Please note: UV-C DOES NOT KILL ANYTHING!

That’s the first myth or bit of information debunked. UV-C does not kill anything. Furthermore UV-C will NOT remove any micro-organisms. The other things that UV-C will not do are:

  • Protect against re-contamination. As swimmers enter the water with “new” bacteria and micro-organisms, those must be treated.
  • Work well in cloudy water. Cloudy water will effectively block the absorption of UV-C to do its job.
  • Work well in the presence of heavy metals (dissolved iron, copper and manganese). Iron effectively blocks UV-C absorption.
  • Work well in areas of high Calcium Hardness (over about 300 ppm). Areas of hard water will tend to be scale forming. Scale WILL form on UV-C tubing preventing its effectiveness.
  • Work as a stand alone sanitizing system. UV-C is meant to work as a supplement with chlorine, salt, bromine. Ionizers (Nature2, Frog, etc), biguanides (Soft Swim, Baquacil, etc) are not compatible.
  • Oxidize anything. Shock treatments (using either chlorine or non-chlorine shock products) must be done regularly to oxidize contaminants and certain other unfiltered matter.

Keep in mind that the way that UV systems are constructed, they must be properly maintained all of the time in order to be effective. I mentioned above that UV is rendered ineffective when the pool water is cloudy. The UV light cannot penetrate the turbidity of the water. The water must be clear. The same holds true of the UV generator.

The bulb of the UV generator is typically surrounded and protected by a quartz tube. The problem is that the quart tube will get cloudy; and it will get cloudy quickly. How quick? The “occlusion rate” (how cloudy it gets) is, on average, about 5% per week. What does that mean to you? It means that after about 7 to 8 weeks, almost 50% occlusion will have occurred. Or in other words, only about 50% of the UV light is able to work.

In areas of high calcium hardness or high scaling or hard water or high metals (iron, copper, etc), the UV generator tubing will scale and cloud even faster. Proper, weekly chemical cleaning of the tube is essential to remove and eliminate scale and naturally occurring bio-film build up. Using a bio-film remover such as AquaFinesse Pool Water Care tablets will aid in the cleaning. Otherwise, clean with a mild acid cleaner.

Is a UV-C system right for you? You will have to answer that question. The price range for a good UV system for the average swimming pool is anywhere from about $1300.00 to $2500.00. That’s a lot of money and can purchase of lot traditional good, hard working chemicals and products.

Do your research. Anyone claiming bacteria kill is completely misrepresenting the product. Remember, if it sounds too good, it probably is.

How to Weld Sheet Metal – MIG Welding Sheet Steel With a Hobart Handler 140

Sheet metal, like car body panels, can be welded with a 115 volt mig welder like a Hobart Handler 140 IF you are willing to do these 5 things…

  • Get a decent mig welding machine, preferably a good 115 volt mig welder like a Hobart Handler 140.

(Actually, 115 volt mig welders are often the best choice for welding sheet metal and a Hobart Handler 140 has all the features needed to weld thin sheet metal or even up to ¼” thick steel.)

  • Get a gas conversion kit so you can run .023″ bare wire. ( the Hobart mig welder comes with gas conversion)

Don’t even think about trying to weld in an auto body patch with flux core wire. You need to get a mig welder that has a gas conversion kit so that you can use 75/25 gas and use .023″ bare wire like E70s6 or E70s3.

  • Get some 75/25  gas  (thats 75 argon and 25 c02)

Pure Co2 is not what you want. Its fine for welding thicker steel, but for thinner sheet metal, 75/25 argon/Co2 is the ticket. It is more versatile too.

  • Get an auto darkening welding helmet…(Especially if you are a noob.)

Moving even slightly off the mark before you pull the trigger can make the difference between a good weld and a big blob of crap that will have to be ground off. Unless you love to grind, get yourself a decent auto darkening welding helmet. Being able to see exactly where the tip of your wire is when you pull the trigger on the mig gun makes a huge difference.

  • Use a hammer and dolly often to spread out the contractile stresses.

Sheet metal warps when you weld it… period.  You can’t stop it, all you can do is try to control it and then fix it.  A hammer and dolly used intermittently between small stitch welds is what the pro’s do to keep metal from distorting too much.

Welding sheet metal takes a bit of patience and finesse. But if you are willing to follow the rules. You can do it.

How to Close a Drill Chuck That’s Stuck Open

Finding Closure

It’s not uncommon for a drill chuck to become a little out-of-whack and, as a result, not completely close. At best, this failure to close can be obnoxious; more often than not, though, it can really clam up your productivity. This is not good. – Keep your drill tight and your mood above water with these few steps that will help you quickly close your whacked-out chuck.

First Things First:

As you know, you will find a chuck screw at the center of an opened drill chuck. This screw is responsible for a large part of keeping your chuck where it’s supposed to be. Like all things with a job to do, though, occasionally these little screws can lose their way. Sometimes, the screw may be lost altogether, but, in either case, it just needs a little direction. Because a loose or missing screw will prevent the chuck from closing entirely, you must tighten or replace the screw. Remember, that this screw is reverse threaded. Thus, to tighten the thing, you must flick that wrist to the left (counter-clockwise) and spin the screw in a counter-clockwise motion. Once the screw is good and tight, the chuck should close and grip as it’s meant to.

Coming Back for Seconds:

If the chuck remains loose or continues to revert to the out-of-whack position after you have tightened the chuck screw, there are a few other factors that might be at play – first, the screw or the screw-hole itself (inside the chuck) may have stripped threads. This would prevent the screw from staying in place which, in turn, prevents the chuck from keeping tight. If the screw threads are stripped, replacing the screw should do the trick. If the screw-hole inside the chuck is stripped, though, you probably need a new chuck.

For one or another reason, the chuck may also be locked or rusted into a loose position – or – the fingers within the chuck may have slipped, slouched or broken preventing the chuck’s jaws from gripping a bit. – In these cases, you pretty much need to either replace the chuck or have the thing professionally inspected.

Now that we’ve reached the end of this tale, I think the moral of the story is, “keep your screws tight (or you’ll end up with a screw loose,” – yes, pun intended). Good luck with your chuck and remember that tight drilling requires a tight drill (chuck).

Improve Penis Power With Superfoods

The foods men eat may have a pronounced effect on the health of their penis. Foods containing vitamins and minerals specific to penis health support sexual function, nerve transmission and testosterone levels when consumed regularly. While it is possible to support penis health through eating specific superfoods, it can be hard to achieve every single day. Men should eat a balanced diet, use recommended nutritional supplements, and explore penis health crèmes as ways of increasing vitamins and minerals for reproductive health.

Ginger: Ginger is a warming and invigorating plant that increases circulation to the extremities and the pelvic region, supporting healthy penile erections by improving blood flow. The root of the ginger plant is a rich source of essential oils, flavonoids and other plant chemicals, which open up blood vessels once ingested and also reduce platelet aggregation. In a study published in Food and Chemical Toxicology in 2010, researchers fed mice ginger root for 65 days. By the end of the study, the mice had increased testosterone levels, increased sperm count and motility, and increased sexual organ weight. Take ginger root as a superfood tea, purchase it as a herbal extract, or consume fresh root each day with your meals. If you are on heart or blood thinning medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using ginger products.

Nuts : Eat nuts for your nuts, and for your penis health. Nuts such as almonds, cashews, peanuts, brazil nuts and pecans contain dense amounts of nutrients essential for male sexual health. Magnesium for nervous system health, selenium for prostate health, protein for energy, chromium for lasting blood sugar levels, and essential fatty acids for nerve transmission. While nuts contain a variety of essential fatty acids, the most common fatty acid found in nuts is oleic acid. Nerves throughout the body, including in nerves in the penis, require oleic acid to form a protective coating around the nerve fiber. Without this protective sheath, known as myelin, nerve messages become confused and fail to transmit appropriately. Consume a small handful of mixed nuts each day to promote nerve health in your penis and boost energy levels.

Mushrooms: Mushrooms have been used for vitality, longevity and sexual health for thousands of years. While white button mushrooms are the most commonly consumed edible mushroom, the world is filled with hundreds of species of edible and medicinal mushrooms, some of which may be useful for penis health. A superfood and medicinal mushroom from the Himalayas, Cordyceps sinensis, has been extensively researched for its many health promoting properties, including sexual enhancement. Cordyceps has a positive effect on nitric oxide (NO) in the penis, acting in a similar way to the drug Viagra. It also increases testosterone levels and according to a study in 2009, Cordyceps has a beneficial effect on both sexual performance and fertility of animals. Find dried cordyceps from an Asian grocer or take Cordyceps in the form of a dried extract.

Fruits:Eating fruit may not sound very masculine, but most fruits are packed full of vitamins that will support robust sexual health. Oranges, nectarines, apples, red peppers, berries, rosehips, mangoes and kiwifruit are excellent sources of vitamin C and bioflavonoids for healthy circulation to the penis, effective connective tissue repair for the penis and foreskin, increased testosterone production, and antioxidant protection for the prostate. Tomatoes are also a source of vitamin A and lycopene for male reproductive health, and raisins contain magnesium which is essential for nervous system health. Watermelons, oranges and avocados contain the amino acid arginine, which supports erectile health and sexual performance. Eat a wide variety of fruits each day to benefit from their nutritional support.

Enhancing Penis Health with Nutrition

Vitamins, minerals and antioxidants are important for penis health and male virility. While there are many superfoods and herbal remedies out there which support the health of the male reproductive system, the best method to support penis health is always to eat a balanced and diverse diet. If you are on any medications or have health concerns, check with your pharmacist or other health professional for advice.

For increased nutritional support many men consider taking multivitamins and minerals. These Supplements are broken down and absorbed in the digestive tract to varying degrees in different individuals, but you can use a penis health formula (most health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) containing vitamin C, vitamin A, arginine and natural oils. Penis health formulas carry nutrients directly into the local blood stream, enhancing sexual function, connective tissue health and testosterone production quickly.
